EnchantWorldle 2-card opener update: Pure/Simple & Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons*
Tumblr media Tumblr media
pinpoint accuracy on mana values 2-6 (79.6% of all cards)
Tumblr media
solid overlap of colors (though no confirmations--a WB or BR card will appear the same as a G one. put your money on the monocolor though)
pinpoint accuracy on rarity (hopefully self-explanatory)
three (super)types and two relevant subtypes (13.4% of all cards wow that's a lot of humans)
divides years i believe as evenly as possible** (7998/7642/7807+)
while i doubt a 3-card success is possible from here outside of luck, i could see 4-card being much more consistent. key word could.
*hapatra may be swapped for temmet, who is remarkably identical in all but color (WU--still ideal). his name is more fun to say but hapatra was my first all-digital decktech so i'm her softie
**by next magic year 2006/2018 is more advisable, in which case muldrotha the gravetide and conjurer's ban do pretty much the same thing except one's a mythic now and the subtype's much worse (18% of the prior card pool--about 2.4% of all cards now. still not horrible i suppose)
oh and cuz i know he's the main guy to be interested i oughta tag @dimestoretajic

“First Saturday of the month. You know what that means,” Tony hollered to the Avengers scattered about the Tower.
“Yes!” Thor boomed. “Be prepared to lose.”
“Funny,” Clint laughed with a roll of his eyes. “I was just about to say the same thing to you.”
“What is happening?” you asked, somewhat bewildered, as the heroes came into the room. “What’s significant about Saturday?”
“Oh my gosh, that’s right. You just missed the last one. Every first Saturday of the month we have a game night,” Nat explained.
You’d been part of the team for just under a month, having officially joined on a Sunday. So, it was true that you’d yet to experience their apparently traditional game night. It sounded like a great deal of fun, though, especially because the Avengers had become your second family in the short time you’d known them. Well, you’d actually known Nat and Clint for years, since you all worked for SHIELD. In fact, they were a huge part of the reason you were an Avenger now. A few months ago there was a particularly dangerous crime ring, and they’d specifically requested you as backup. You’d clicked with everyone immediately and, numerous transfer papers later, here you were.
“Sounds exciting!” you told them. “What are we playing first?”
“Well actually,” Bruce said kind of sheepishly, “it’s not that I want you to sit out, but they’re all team games, and we don’t have an even number of people.”
“So we have a team of three,” Nat said, as if it were obvious.
“No way. That’s unfair,” Tony argued.
You bit your lip, feeling like maybe you were intruding on something you shouldn’t be a part of. It was their thing, after all, and perhaps there was simply no room for a newcomer. As they continued to bicker about whether one larger team mattered or not, you considered just slipping away. That’s when you noticed that there was someone missing.
“What about Loki?” you said. “He would make the numbers even.”
Much to your surprise, everyone burst out laughing. You nervously ran your sweaty palms on the legs of your pants and let out a small laugh, though you weren’t quite sure at what. Once their cackling died down, you dared to ask what was so funny.
“My brother never attends these games nights,” Thor informed you. “He isn’t one for group activities, as I’m sure you’ve noticed.”
“Well, have you ever invited him?”
“Once or twice,” Tony said. “Listen, if you want to try to make a social butterfly out of Reindeer Games, be my guest. In the meantime, we’ll work out a feasible way for us all to play.”
You rolled your eyes and scoffed a little, standing up to go find Loki. It was honestly ridiculous that they still treated him the way they did. Sure, he likes to be alone sometimes, but that doesn’t mean he likes being lonely. Not that he’d ever actually admitted to you that he was, but you knew. It was blatantly obvious in the way he sent longing glances toward the rest of the team when you gathered together. You always made sure to ask him over, an invitation he usually accepted. Everyone else had laughed the first time you’d done that, too. They’d only ever asked him a few times, and it was right when he was new and still so lost, so alone, so afraid. Why they took that to just be his permanent disposition, you didn’t know. Regardless of how insensitive they were to his situation, your inclusivity had brought Loki out of his shell a bit, and a friendship had blossomed between you.
A short walk later, you reached his door. You stretched out a hand, but hesitated to knock. Doubt gnawed at the back of your mind. Maybe he truly was not a fan of board games, and then you’d be interrupting his night. After all, he must have a tradition of his own if this happens every first Saturday. Still, you knew that was usually not the case, and steeled yourself against the uncertainty.
“Hello, my little mortal,” he greeted you, opening the door. “Is everything alright?”
“No.”
“What is it? Are you ill? Hurt?” he questioned, jumping into action and shepherding you to his couch.
“No, nothing like that,” you laughed, though you were touched by his concern. “It’s just that it’s game night, and we don’t have an even number of people.”
“Oh? And I suppose that you are asking me to join,” he mused as you nodded. “I am not usually invited, and I am notorious spoiled sport, just ask Thor.”
“Well, people say a lot of things about you, and they’re usually not true.” He shrugged his shoulders. “You don’t have to play if you really don’t want to, but will you? Please. For me?”
“For you, my little mortal, anything. After all, how can I resist those puppy dog eyes?”
You giggled and led the way out of his room, ignoring the thumping of your heart when his hand accidentally brushed yours. Nat and Tony were still bickering about the teams when you arrived, but were quickly stunned into silence when they saw Loki.
“Brother! Good to see you’ve decided to join,” Thor greeted, breaking the somewhat awkward silence. “Shall we begin then?”
First up was Cranium, and you could tell that everyone else was divided into their usual teams: Tony and Bruce, Clint and Nat, Thor and Steve. You rubbed your hands in excitement, ready for some friendly competition.
“Yes!” you shouted a while later, after you and Loki answered the final question right. “We win!”
Everyone else’s jaw hung open, shocked by how serious of a competitor you were. Not to say you were mean-spirited or gloated or anything, but it was obvious you took game night very seriously. Loki was a little surprised too, but he relished in the infectious energy of your feisty spirit. Not to mention he absolutely loved to be on the winning team.
“Congratulations, guys,” Steve said. “Don’t expect to get as lucky in the next game, though.”
The next game, apparently, was charades, which you and Loki absolutely dominated again. The two of you worked as a well-oiled machine, guessing the simple ones like sewing and the more obscure ones like whale watching with ease. Loki was also surprisingly knowledgeable about Midgardian movies and literature. The two of you high fived, having just edged out the competition.
“Wow, good job guys,” Nat congratulated. “Tony and Bruce usually win that one.”
“Way to rub it in,” Tony groaned, flopping back on the couch.
You could tell a part of him wanted to accuse Loki of cheating but, having no real evidence and not wanting to start a fight, restrained himself. Instead, he contented himself with just mumbling how much of an outrage it was. You, however, were on cloud nine.
As the next game was set up, Loki pulled you onto his lap, instilled with confidence after his latest wins. Of course, if anyone were to ask, he would just say he was saving room on the couch. It would have, though, been a lie.
“Ready for a clean sweep, my little mortal?” he whispered, his breath surprising cold on your ear.
“Bring it on!” you whispered back with a wink.
The last game of the night was Pictionary, and by now everyone knew you and Loki were the team to beat. Unfortunately for them, you got this win, too. The Avengers let out a collective sigh as you shouted a victorious whoop and hugged Loki.
“Good game everyone,” you said, starting to help clean up.
“What are you doing, my little mortal?” Loki questioned, half joking. “Do you not know the losers have to clean up?”
“Not sure that’s actually a rule, Rock of Ages,” Tony grumbled.
“Fine, I’ll help,” he replied, placing a singular piece back in the box. “There. Now it is time for our victory lap.”
Then he scooped you up bridal style using his superhuman strength and began running you around the Tower in his arms, both laughing the whole time. He finally brought you to a stop on the balcony of his room.
“You’re ridiculous, you know that right?” you said, still chuckling.
“Perhaps. But we deserved that after an excellent showing.”
“I guess so. As much as it pains me to admit it, we should probably go easy on them next time. We’ll just win one a night, ok?”
“That’s my little mortal,” he happily sighed, wrapping his arms around you. “Always looking out for others. Always looking out for me. Thank you for inviting me along tonight.”
“No problem. It was a lot of fun. We make a pretty good team.”
“Indeed.”
A comfortable silence settled between you, and you rested against Loki, whose arms were still wrapped around you. He felt more relaxed and happy than he had in a while. He knew he’d ask you out someday, but right now he was still too shy, this friendship still too new. One day he would, though, and he couldn’t wait to get there and to every day after.

“What do you mean Bryce that you can’t come? You promised you would! When is New York State ever going to open Rose Red to be explored like this again Bryce?” You spoke into your cell phone while looking in the mirror, currently doing a french braid to keep your hair out of your face. Your expression reflected back at you was a mixture of fury and disbelief. You had only been talking about this charity for 6 months, and here was your boyfriend backing out after he’d promised to come with you numerous times.
“Something came up with Maya, okay? You know my sister can’t do anything without fucking it up. Besides it's just a house”
“Bryce, don’t talk about your sister that way.” You sighed exasperatedly before your voice dropped slightly conveying your disappointment “And it's not just a house, it's just the most haunted manor and grounds in New York. They had it condemned supposedly just for that reason! You really can’t come?”
“You know that shit isn't real. Sorry Baby, but why don’t you take one of your friends? How about that Karen chick?”
You gave a sigh and roll of the eyes, Bryce never bothered to get to know any of your friends, not like you did with his friends. “You mean Stacey? Her name isn’t Karen.”
“Well, she’s like a Karen.” He retorted with a condescending tone.
“Whatever Bryce, I’m hanging up now.” you snapped out, he was being an ass especially considering this entire night had actually started out as a treat to him from you.
“Hey, Hey, I was kidding. Take Stacey. You know I wouldn’t be any fun, I never liked Snowpiercer, remember?”
“That’s not the point Bryce…” you sighed again.
“Look, go have fun with Stacey, and tomorrow morning I will pick you up, we can go for a drive down the coast, just the two of us. Maybe have a long weekend in Hampton. How does that sound? I will even take you to that hotel you like. That one right on the beach with the view we stayed at last summer. We had fun there, didn’t we Sweetness.” now his tone was a hint of teasing and promise, and although you were still mad that he ditched you again, you felt a warmth bloom in your chest that he was trying to make it right.
You bit your lip remembering, it had been a fantastic vacation, and Bryce really showed you a good time without ever having to leave the room. At your silence he gave a chuckle of triumph. “That’s what I thought, I'm gonna call them right now. Have fun tonight baby.”
“Okay, but you better be here bright and early Bryce. Love-” Before you could even say the words, he hung up, and you hit the end call button, trying to get over the feeling of disappointment before you called Stacey. You could already hear what she would say, but as your best friend, she would be there. She always was. Dialing her number, you pulled out the tickets from your purse, allowing yourself a smile.
What could you say, you were a fangirl. Snowpiercer was such an intricate dark story, you had fallen in love with it the first time you watched it on Netflix. So when Bryce mentioned his grandfather was helping sponsor a haunted house charity at the town's resident creepy manor, and it was featuring several film sets. Including none other than Snowpiercer, you just had to have all the details. It even went as far as Bryce having his grandfather putting in a good word of how much of a fan you were to get you in. You scrimped and saved, Bryce as well helped you with paying for the tickets. You had really wanted to do this with him too. No, he didn’t share your love for the story, but he was your boyfriend and Halloween was your favorite holiday. It was something you two could have shared.
Oh well, next year we will do what he wants to do, you thought to yourself waiting for Stacey to pick up her phone.
A familiar voice answered, jerking you from your thoughts. “What’s up? I thought you would have already left for the charity function?” Stacey questioned.
“Slight change of plans, something came up with Maya, and Bryce can’t make it.”
“Big surprise.” the answer made you wince, cause this wasn’t the first time you called Stacey about Bryce. “You want some company? I can be ready by the time you get here?”
“Please?” you already had your purse over your shoulder and were heading out the door as she answered.
“Don’t worry girl, I got you. See you in a few.”
Tumblr media
The line to get into the grounds was long, cars piled up as the two of you pulled to a stop. Stacey leaned forward to look out the windshield, giving a soft whistle. “Damn, they pulled out all the stops for this charity, didn’t they? Isn’t that the Rose Red Manor?”
“Yea, they were able to get it for the night from the Governor. Pretty crazy since this place has been condemned, they were supposed to demolish it back when Ellen Rimbauer’s grandson sold it to New York. You know the stories here, don’t you? Men die, Women disappear never to be seen again. The house somehow has random room built on out of nowhere. No one actually knows how many rooms Rose Red has, and the grounds are much larger then the records state.” You let your foot off the brake, easing forward.
“Shut up, that’s not true.” Stacey gave a shudder and you laughed, winking in a teasing manner. “How does a house keep getting bigger? I say bullshit.”
“It’s all just for spooks, the place is safe or else they wouldn’t let us on the grounds.”
“If I die Y/N, I’m haunting you.” Stacey jibed back, pulling up to the concession stand, and you rolled down your window.
“How many, and what set are you here to visit?” a tired voice sounded at you while you pulled the tickets out of your purse and handed them out the window.
“2, for the Snowpiercer, Curtis Everett set.”
The redhead took your tickets, her green eyes flickering to check them before she gave a slight smirk of perfectly painted ruby lips. She leaned forward, to look into the car. “Curtis Everett you say? A personal favorite of mine, the set reminds me a bit of home.” Your eyes flickered to her name tag, reading Natasha Romanoff, it sounded Russian, where it is assumed the train derailed at the end of the film. “Curtis is a bit intimidating, but don’t get scared, it's all a part of the show.” She stamped your tickets and collected bracelets, handing them back to you which you and Stacey both snapped onto your wrists. “Enjoy, and make sure you have those tickets on you. The Wilford on set will be looking to collect them. Bozhe, pomiluy tebya.” God have mercy on you.
Your brows came together in confusion at the foreign launguage and gave a nod. “Thanks?”
The woman smiled and snapped her window shut, ending the conversation. Pulling the car away to continue to park, Stacy wrinkled her nose. “What was that about?”
“You got me. I don’t even know what language that was, I’m guessing Russian?” You watch and follow the people directing you to park and are soon in your designated spot. “Whatever, you ready?” The uneasiness slipped away as you got excited, cause lets face it, Curtis Everett had been a crush for you since you saw the movie. And now you were going to see him, well the actor in the role, once again. From what you could tell this charity was an a-list kind of deal, cause after hours of scouring online, you found nothing talking about Chris Evans doing this function. Maybe Bryce was good for something, you thought as you got out of the car, and then chided yourself for being so cruel to your boyfriend. After all, if it wasn’t for him, you wouldn’t be seeing Curtis or the Snowpiercer set. While you two were walking, apparently the last ones in the queue, you pulled out your phone to send him a message.
Hey, Stacey, and I just got here. Miss you and Love you.
It wasn’t even a few minutes till your phone pinged back
Have a good time and don’t get too scared.
Smiling to yourself at the glowing screen, you stuffed your phone back in your purse and proceeded towards the front where you showed your bracelets.
“Ahh Snowpiercer, you actually go around back. Follow me.” Your host said as he led you around the side of the building, away from the last of the people disappearing inside.
“We're not going into the house?” you couldn’t help but feel disappointed at the idea, it was supposedly one of the most famous haunted houses in New York State. The well-dressed host turned, looking at you for a moment before putting on a suave smile.
“Since you are special guests, I’ll wait for you after your tour with Curtis Everett on Snowpiercer. Give you a proper tour of Rose Red. But I assure you, that you’re in for a better treat, this is a truly exclusive walk though as hardly anyone gets to explore this much of Rose Red. Did you know that Ellen Rimbauer also had a private train on the grounds? It’s not documented as extensively as the house is, but many strange occurrences have happened here as well. It’s rumored that a single match light can be seen running up and down the aisles. Workers will be glimpsed from the corner of your eye in the darkest shadows. The ones that have visited the train claim to feel extensive chills, and in the engine, ramblings and whispers of madness can be heard. Most assume it's the conductor, looking for his replacement.” Your host continued, while out of the darkness a massive ominous train loomed, vines all over it, and it almost had a skeletal appearance as windows were busted out of it, and it looked pitch black in all the openings.
“The workers used the train to bring in materials from the harbor to the construction site. And in 1903, a riot happened on the train, the crew claimed that they weren’t being compensated for the conditions, and they demanded better wages. When W. Rimbauer refused them, they put a stop to the train for good. Resulting in many deaths.” Your host led you to the front car, in which a pale man stood with a lantern and a single red rose he was twirling in his fingers, and upon seeing the trio of you, he promptly slipped the delicate flower into his robe and smoothed down his outfit. Giving a wave, he stepped down and you noticed that oddly he was wearing what looked like a luxurious robe, his bald head shining in the glow of the lamp. The more you studied him, the more you thought he looked exactly like Ed Harris in his Wilford role. You were about to ask, when he interrupted you with his own question to the host.
“Blackwood, this the Curtis couple? We were a bit worried you wouldn’t show up tonight. Which is a shame, as Curtis has been waiting for you.” He seemed to direct his answer solely at you, his pale blue eyes glinting gleefully at you, it was the only way you could describe it, but they still sent a shiver down your back. Ed Harris or not, he was a good Wilford, you thought to yourself as you tried not to let his act give you the creeps. Stacey pulled in closer to you, hooking her arm through yours and whispering.
“You sure we should go on this train? It’s pretty fucking creepy back here. And where is everyone else?”
Blackwood cleared his throat with a smile. “Now ladies, the Curtis scene was very exclusive. In fact, only you two were able to get tickets. Seeing how it’s away from the main house. But I’m going to leave you in the capable hands of Wilford here as I must return for the next group. I will be back soon to give you a house tour afterward. You ladies enjoy the fully immersed experience.”
Your host left you with Wilford, who lifted his lamp to show a path that led down the side of the train. “It’s just a way down here, Curtis will meet you inside, and take you on the tour of Snowpiercer. Now, remember, he will not be breaking character as is per his instructions. We want this to be as authentic as possible.”
You and Stacey follow along behind his seemingly smooth stride, both of you tripping up a bit although Wilford seemed to have no issues with the uneven ground. Both of you were panting a bit when he came to a stop, and held a hand up to a ladder, leading into the darkest opening you’ve ever seen.
“There are no lights inside?” You drawled out and Stacey braced her hand against the train to catch her breath.
“How the hell are we supposed to see? And climb in with heels? No one told us that this was going to be an expedition just to see a movie set.” the woman snapped out, and Wilford turned that gaze from you to Stacey, giving a cold smile.
“It will all come on once you're inside, everything is in its preordained place in Snowpiercer and we are allowing you to really see it all come to life. But before you two go on, can I have your tickets please? No one goes onto the snowpiercer without one.” His grin turned eerie in the shadows on the lantern he had brought with him, and you were quick to look away from it,
Fuck he is weird. You shudder, while searching your bag and handing over both tickets. He immediately put them in his robe and held the lantern up so you could see a bit better to get inside. Grasping the ladder, you start to climb in, Stacey following right behind, holding onto the back of your shirt. One you stumbled in, and Stacey did too, you both turned to look back out, expecting Wilford to follow you in, but the door slammed shut, and a shudder went through the train, hard enough so you both yelped, falling into each other.
“Y/N! What the fuck is this? We have to get out of here.” You could feel Stacey digging into your arms in a panic, and you stumbled back to where the door was, your hands slamming against freezing cold metal, your palms pounding on the vibrating metal.
“Why is it vibrating? WHY IS THE TRAIN MOVING?” You started to yell, and Stacey moved up next to you, also slamming her palms against the metal walls. Blinding light made you both yelp and cover your eyes, stumbling to land in a heap when you pulled your arm away from your face, blinking to get your pupils to focus. It was an empty train cart, windows that appeared to be filled with bright natural light lined the walls, and at each end, metal doors that have yet to be opened. Stacey takes the first tentative moves to stand up, pulling herself to look out a window and her eyes widened in disbelief.
“What is it?” You ask as you start to push yourself up to a stand, and she shakes her head as if to shake whatever she was seeing away, muttering over and over.
“What the fuck?”
You make your way over, and all you can see is snow. Snow and ice, speeding past like this train were actually able to run on a track. Buildings encased in snow, making way to nothing but white, everywhere. Even the windows had frost encasing around the edges, your breaths fogging the glass.
“How? What?” you question, beyond confused and rubbing at your face to look again. How the hell could this be? You go to reach in your bag for your phone, and look down to see it is gone. And not just your phone, your bag. Scanning the train, there was no sign of it. Panic settled in a little more now that you didn't have a way to call for help should you need it.
Stacey pressed her fingers to the glass, her tone a bit shrill as if she was trying to convince herself it was make believe. “Gotta be like we're watching a screen right? Just supposed to look like the trains moving.” Although the train gave another shudder, swaying back and forth.
You never got an answer, as one end the doors swung open and people wearing all black spilled into the train, all carrying axes, faces masked so you couldn’t see anything discernible about them. Except for flashing teeth among happy grins. Each one hefting their ax like it was a toy. Your confused addled brain screamed at you to pay attention. Danger. But you were in too much of a shock to really focus.
Another whoosh and you spin around to see who was coming out the other side, Stacey whimpering in fear next to you, still staring at the first group. But your eyes raked over these men, dirty and worn looking. The one in front had a wide stance, his feet braced against the rocking of the train like he was familiar with it. A black trench coat swept around him, ragged sweaters piled over a broad chest and your gaze fell onto a familiar hard face, scanning his opponent, drawing himself into a more fighting stance. Curtis Everett.
“Oh shit” it dawns on you what scene this was and you draw Stacey closer to you, and back against a wall.
“What? Oh god, I don’t understand what is happening.” Stacey said in a panicked voice, and you shook her a bit.
“I don’t know either, but stay out of everyone’s way, okay? Those axes are not fakes!” The weapons they held were clearly not props, the heavy blade handles slapped in palms, and gleamed in the winter sun streaming through the windows. A touch would easily slice into anything. And these two groups look ready to hack into each other.
“Shouldn’t they help us get out?” Stacey’s eyes rolled wildly, and you gulped, seeing the large trout get passed up, and just as you guessed, the ax easily sliced into the fish’s flesh, drizzling blood down to see  along the edge, dripping down the handle and to the floor.
“I don't think so Stace…” You whipped back to look at the opposing group, feeling Curtis’s gaze seeking yours with a glimmer of hatred and confusion behind them. For half a second, then it was back on their enemies. You could see it, the taunting lunges each group made, and just when they both broke for each other, you screamed and yanked Stacey down onto the ground as they all collided. Attempting to avoid stomping feet and falling blades, you two tried to stick to the wall, screaming and covering your heads, blood splattering everywhere above you in hot sticky sprays that rained down on your two.
Stacey wouldn’t stop screaming, her voice piercing above the noise of the fighting, bodies started to litter the floor, and you tried to make your way towards one of the exits, your hands and knees slipping in warm fluid. Over bodies you dragged yourself when Stacey’s screaming changed to one of pain and panic. Looking over your shoulder, she was getting dragged away by her ankles, her fingers trying to find a hold in the floor, nails raking through the blood to create long rakes through all the red.
“Y/N! Y/N! Help!” she continued to scream, and you twisted to go back for her when she was whipped to her back and her arms came up in defense, trying to cover her face or neck.
“No!”
Whump! This is when you lost all your control and started to scramble back for her. There was so much screaming and you never realized it was coming from you.
Whump! The ax planted in Stacey’s chest and she jerked upwards, trying to push the blade away, and the militants foot planted on her stomach, yanking her loose. You would still see her moving, still alive. You were closer.
Whump! this one landed on her skull, blonde hair turning stringy red and his boot planted on her face this time, crushing in her forehead and nose as he yanked it out, once more red spray flew through the air.
Several whacks fell on her, over and over, spraying you with each yank the axe gave off Stacey's body, the militant man grinning as her blood sprayed all over him, you, any nearby person.
You were in shock, your hands to your mouth, as you saw Stacy's body collapse into broken pieces, blood spurting out of her mouth and she went limp right in front of you. His gaze fell to you and his wide bloody grin looked like he just won the prize, his axe lifting when he was suddenly thrown back and slaughtered himself. You didn't pay attention to who took him out, only catching sight of a whipping coat snapping in the person's actions, you turned towards your best friend's body, convinced she might still be alive. This was all just for fun, pretend after all, right? Snowpiercer and the Revolution did not exist.
“Sss-Stacey?” you crawled over to her, your hands cupping her broken face and leaning over her still warm form, doing your best to hold what remained of her face together, as if you could just piece it back together like a puzzle. You kept shaking her, although she had several gaping holes in her body.
“Come on Stacey, we got to move.” you sobbed over her, unaware once more of what was going on.
You didn’t notice the fighting stop or the survivors rush to look out the windows in a panic, but you did feel a hand yank the back of your shirt to slam you into the wall and keep you pinned in place. Even as you struggled to get back to Stacey’s body, lying lifeless. You didn’t notice any of these things till a growl snarled in your ear. “Girl, stop it! What’s wrong with you?” A vicious shake thudded your head against the wall, and the crack against the back of your skull made your eyes roll back in pain. The world tipped upside down, Curtis’s scowling cut face tipped around, and you went under, the blackness welcomed from the hell you just experienced.
Tumblr media
“Hey Curtis, she’s awake.” was the first thing you heard, your head pounding and when you started to pry your lids open, figures were blurry, moving around, flashes of light blinding you till they were blocked back out by bodies. You gave a moan and lifted your hand to your face when the larger one slapped it away, and the cold slick hand grasped your throat, dragging you forward. “Focus Bitch, we don’t have all day.” Your eyes snapped obediently to Curtis, fearful and wide-eyed as you took him in.
In the movie, he was large, towering over others. Here, as he was staring you down, face contorted to semi-controlled rage, and leaning over you so you could feel his hot breath wash over his face, how the blood dried to crack along his cheek, and eyes that you swore were debating snapping your neck.
“I don’t understand what is going-”
“Shut the fuck up, you’re not asking questions here. Wilford sent you?”
“Wilford? Yes, yes.” You stutter, his fingers squeeze further and you can feel the hot tears streaming down your face, landing on his filthy hands. “He put Stacey and I in here, m-m-my friend. She was…” Your eyes rolled to where her body was twisted strangely, smeared in gore from where she slid around, or someone tripped over her. All you knew is her eyes started up at nothing now. Her wounds were gaping and bled out.
Curtis gave you a shake, his snarl brought you back to him. “She was what? What did Wilford send you two back here for?”
“We were here for a charity! I was supposed to meet Chris Evans, You as Curtis Everett.” your voice started to rise in a panic, your hands grasping his wrist at your neck. “That’s it, why is the train moving? Why are you all using real axes, fuck I just want to get off.” You sobbed, the survivors looked at you with disgust, shaking their heads.
“Once you’re on the Snowpiercer, there is no getting off.” Curtis leaned back a bit, looking you up and down as if inspecting you curiously. “You’re such a fragile little thing. Just like a baby bird, all brittle bones and helpless.”
“No getting off? What are you even talking about?” your tears started to sting your eyes, the panic settling deep in your chest like your heart was about to explode.
Curtis ignored your question, his free hand tugging at your thin sweater and shaking his head. “Fucker didn’t even send you back here properly dressed.”
You tried to struggle and Curtis slammed you back hard enough to make you stop.
“She’s fucking whacked out of her gourd. Gotta be a kronole head someone spouting that shit.” A young man said behind Curtis, and he got in your face, tapping your cheek smartly. “Girl snap out of it, that shite fucking rotted your brain.”
“No Edgar, this is different, she's lying. Good at it, but lying.” Curtis made to stand, dragging you up with him. You stumble in his hold, falling against his body before he dragged you along, hissing in your ear.
“I don’t know what Wilford was thinking Little Bird, sending you back to me with this innocent act of yours. But don’t worry I will make you sing.”

Culture, parallels & meta - S3 E1
Previous season Prologue: Vlogs (1) - Vlogs (2)
°
Zaterdag 21:43
The time lapse already showing us a string of places that will be important later, like the dark alley, the Meir with Noor’s workplace, the university neighborhood, the Scheldt river where the boys hang out, ...
Perfect parallel:
The second season starts Zoë’s POV with a (washing machine) door, whilst the third opens with a door to a party that Robbe attends.
Robbe glances back at Noor passing through the shot this episode, an action he repeats when he spots Sander in the second episode. - A very subtle hint to where his love life may lead.
The first one starts with two unknown LGBT+ girls kissing at a party, the last episode shows two known LGBT+ boys (Sobbe) kissing at their own party.
The aerial shot through the floor to introduce us to Robbe’s POV here and the aerial shot through the roof to say goodbye to him in the last episode.
Moyo saying “No one would do you” to Aaron in this episode, Aaron realizing “No one here wants to do me!” in the last.
Where’s Wally? Noor greeting Marie, accompanied by Jana and Britt. Max dancing with Keisha in the crowd.
How ‘meta’ of you: Newsflash, yes you are!
Tumblr media
Nod to the OG:
The deliberate messy POV: following everyone that we know already and then slowly settling on the Isak version in a tub.
Robbe saying Noor looks like ‘Natalie Portman’, which is what people said to the OG Emma when they flirted with her. Everyone, except Isak, that is.
Oop, there it is, the homophobia / heteronormativity: Moyo keeps pressuring Robbe into explaining what type of girl he likes. The boys laugh it off when he answers that ‘he doesn’t have a type’.
Lost in translation: Moyo mocks Noor’s Dutch accent, making his ‘g’ and ‘st’ sound harsher, while also adding ‘hoor’ at the end - a typical word used by the Dutch to emphasize a point.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: Jens is playing with the weed bag. Keisha is one of the girls that Moyo mentions as Jens’ ex-girlfriend or ex-fling. Not only did Noor nót flush the toilet, but she didn’t used any toilet paper either!
°
Zaterdag 22:44
C is for culture:
Noor rescuing Robbe on her scooter - In Belgium, you’re allowed to drive a moped or scooter once you’ve reached the age of 16. Nothing is needed if the vehicle doesn’t go above 25 km/h. If it stays between the range of 25-45 km/h and max. 50 cc, you need to pass a theoretical exam, 4 hours of driver’s ed and a practical exam to get the license. Anything other than that, has a whole new set of restrictions, types of driver’s licenses and minimum ages.  Noor and Robbe are, however, still breaking the law. As long as you’re not 18, you’re not allowed to have an extra passenger with you. Especially if they’re not wearing a helmet. (Plus they ignored a red light. Those rebels!)
“You do know that you always have to have it with you?” - The Belgian law states that everyone above age twelve, has to get an ID to identify themselves. Some might have had a Kids-ID already - for travel purposes - but that’s not mandatory. However, once you're fifteen years old, you’re obligated to carry your ID with you at all times.
Perfect parallel:
Luca being all jealous whilst staring at Noor and Robbe making out in S3, her glaring at Maud and Robbe every chance she got in the last season.
Robbe and Noor having fun on the scooter while screaming and Robbe filming their adventure in this episode. Robbe and Sander doing a similar thing, but on their bikes in a later episode.
Wink to other remakes: Robbe sporting a brown jacket. (Eliott, anyone?)
Surprise bitch, guess who: It’s Willem Chanterie, the on-set costume designer and social media production assistant!
Tumblr media
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: Noor has a ‘Fuck Trump’ sticker on her helmet. Robbe says “Hey, it’s red” in a very clear Antwerp accent.
°
Zaterdag 23:11
Hello from the outside: The garbage truck they sprayed, still drove around the city regularly. The art piece itself is named ‘#Genoeg mama' (= ‘#Enough mommy’). It blames the consumer society as toxic, making young people its victim.
Oopsie: Inside the graffiti den, Noor suddenly sports a tote bag with supplies, even though we never saw her wearing that in the previous shots.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: Noor has black combat boots. The photographer is obviously Sander, in case you have missed that subtle clue.
°
Zondag 13:41
Lost in translation/Oop, there it is, the homophobia / heteronormativity:
“Check die pekie’s”. The word ‘pekie’ is actually Amsterdam slang for ‘beautiful girl, girlfriend’. In recent years, more and more Dutch slang are making their way into the Flemish dialect, because of the Dutch rap songs gaining popularity with the youngsters.
“Vamos, flikkers”. The word ‘flikkers’ can mean ‘wussie’ as well as a derogatory term for ‘homosexual’. Again establishing the fact that the boys use a lot of homophobic or toxic words for each other.
Robbe’s clumsiness meter: +1, him tossing the bag behind Jens instead of into his hands.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: There is a football right next to the skateboards.
°
Maandag 16:04
C is for culture: “The whole art school was talking about it” -
Secondary school is divided in four sections: general, technical, art and vocational. Which section you choose can have effect on further education. In one of these sections, you pick what you want to study from your first to last year (‘directions’). That means that you have some courses purely focused on the direction and others that are obligated for everyone, regardless.
Art high schoolers can choose to go to work or study a specialization afterwards. Their coursework isn’t solely art based, there are general required courses too. That’s why some foreigners - including the Dutch - come to Belgium, since they’ll get a more rounded and higher level of art education than in their countries. ‘de!KUNSTHUMANIORA’ is the high school in Antwerp Noor goes to and is known for having students with unique styles.
Perfect parallel:
Noor waiting outside the school for Robbe and him reacting somewhat confused here, Sander doing the same and having an instantly happy Robbe in a later episode.
Robbe having no problem kissing a girl ‘as a straight guy’ in front of the gates in this episode and scared for what might happen if he kissed a boy ‘as a gay guy’ later on.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: The insta caption underneath the art work says ‘An inspirational message on a Sunday! Just discovered this in Antwerp city today. Artist unknown... Can you remember when you last called on your mother?’ (That last sentence, oooofff, the symbolism!)
Tumblr media

Dinsdag 14:57
C is for culture:
“Yes, mini enterprises are so chill.” - Mini enterprises are often used as a tool for Economics in the fifth/sixth year. The goal of these is to ‘learn whilst doing it’. Like the name specifies, mini enterprises are actual miniature companies set up by a group of students. During the school year, they’ll try to work together on commercializing a product. All aspects of entrepreneurship are at play here: writing a business plan, holding meetings, doing bookkeeping, marketing the product, produce and sell it, ... If the enterprise idea is good or well executed, it might even win a national prize by the company making this education formula.
“What if he contacts child protection services” - Actually, those services doesn’t really exist in Belgium. There are, however, other youth organizations for these types of things, like JAC - Youth Advice Centre, CLB - Centre for Student Guidance and the Centre for Mental Healthcare.
Perfect parallel: The boys hyping Aaron up to walk over to Amber and talk to her - yet he fails in this episode, them doing the same and he succeeds (after some fails) in the last episode.
Oop, there it is, the homophobia / heteronormativity: Jens saying “Damn, seems like someone is on his fucking period”, after Robbe snaps at him due to the difficult telephone call with his dad.
Lost in translation: Jens saying “Mijn kop staat er niet naar” (= “My head’s not standing there”) can actually mean different things: I’m not in the mood, it’s not the right time, I don't want to do it, my head’s all over the place, ... It depends on the context, on which interpretation would suit the situation the best.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: The girls are all fawning all over Britt’s cellphone, so there is a good chance that they’re discussing (pictures of) her boyfriend, Sander. Also, Jana’s braces are gone!
°
Donderdag 17:13
Perfect parallel: Robbe stating that he can’t talk to his dad or he’ll fight and Zoë getting that, as she said a similar thing to an understanding Senne about her parents in S2.
How ‘meta’ of you: Ah, yes, fandom ship names in SKAM. We applaud!
Tumblr media
Oopsie: If you look really hard, you see that the body type and hair of Robbe’s dad, doesn’t correspond with the version waiting at the restaurant later on.
Wink to other remakes: This shot reminding you of a certain S3 trailer?  👀
Tumblr media
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: The numerous references to Zoënne’s relationship in their room (relationship pics, Senne’s guitar). The paper Milan gifts to Robbe is the written permission by his parent to live with them, as is obligated by law.
°
Vrijdag 20:04
Perfect parallel:
Senne pulling Zoë up after a kiss here, just like with their first kiss in S2.
Robbe pushing Milan away after thinking he wanted to kiss him at the party in S2, them hugging it out in after talking about it in S3.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: Zoë and Milan making some healthy party snacks like cauliflower and cocktail sauce, cheese with tomatoes and salami squares. She pulls back the bottle of gin that Milan wants to steal. Senne also bought paprika and tortilla chips from Colruyt (a discount store).
°
Vrijdag 20:54
C is for culture: “Noor, Robbe’s girlfriend” - (Teen) dating culture is different in Belgium. Usually, if you have kissed, hung out, texted or just said/did something to show your mutual interest, you’d pretty much consider yourself in a relationship. It can go from 0 to 100 very quick. Unless there is, of course, an agreement that what you’re doing is no such thing. Also, nobody really ask you to be their gf/bf. It just implied or stated to their family or friends.
Perfect parallel:
A reluctant Robbe pushing himself to do stuff to Noor (playful dancing, kissing, riling her up) as far as putting his hands on her bra here. A totally different, excited Robbe not even thinking twice about doing these things to Sander, even licking his nipple during their reunion.
Noor pushing Robbe on the bed and climbing over him, whilst Robbe looks all sad in this episode. Him pushing Sander on the bed and being happy as Sander crawls over him during their reunion.
Oop, there it is, the homophobia / heteronormativity: Robbe tries to convince himself into liking heterosexual sex with Noor and fake laughs with his friends about having it.
Where’s Wally? Keisha laughing with Amber and later dancing with Marie.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: Jens is talking to Senne. The decorations behind Milan saying ‘Welkom Robbe’ (= ‘Welcome Robbe’). Noor has a beautiful tattoo of a pin-up girl covered with butterflies on her lower arm.

Entering one by one, the inmates made their way into the shower room. After waiting for some minutes and allowing the guard by the door to frisk him, Jongho finally walked into the shared showers where everyone cleaned themselves at the same time, or at least, that's what everyone from outside thought they did.
At the beginning, when he had only spent his first nights locked in this prison, he used to hate this time of the day. He had numerous reasons that would explain his dislike but only two of them could be highlighted.
The first one was something he noticed as soon as he stepped into this room for the first time, the lack of privacy. Jongho was not an introverted person but he wasn't an exhibitionist either. He had always considered himself as somebody very intimate and private, only selected people had seen him fully naked and those had simply been one nightstands that he never had to see again.
Don't misunderstand this though, insecurities had nothing to do with this. His self-esteem has always been good enough to make him feel confident and Jongho had never disliked himself, in fact, he was pretty happy with his own physique.
However, when he had to walk into a room full of strangers absolutely naked, Jongho had felt the need to hide himself for the first time. He wasn't intimidated, most of the guys here were in a worse state than he was but it was the way their eyes scanned his muscles, the way some of them whistled when he walked past them what had always creeped him out about this moment of the day.
The second reason was more obvious. They were left alone in the showers, guards always waited outside by the door in case something happened. Although Jongho had witnessed horrible things during shower time and too little times one of the guards had been brave enough to come inside to stop it.
Someone would think showers were meant to let them relax but Jongho knew you couldn't let your guard down in a place like this. His eyes had seen too much, from dropping the soap situations to someone getting stabbed out of nowhere. After all, since the guards were out, this was the perfect occasion to hurt somebody if you wanted to.
That could sum up some of the main reasons as to why Jongho had always hated this time of the day, no matter how hard he has tried to get used to it, he will never succeed in it. Shared showers were not meant for him but it was something he would have to deal with for so many more years.
A sigh escaped his lips as he shook his head, this train of thoughts wasn't the most motivational one for the situation, in fact, daydreaming wasn't the best thing to do in the showers for the reasons mentioned above. Stepping aside to let his partners walk inside too, Jongho started unzipping his orange clothes in order to leave them in the dirty clothes basket. Some people were inside already and Jongho could feel some of their eyes trailing the outlines of his muscles, the lines of his tattoos, people here were truly unashamed when it came to staring.
It’s not like Jongho cared anymore though, the best way to get through this was to ignore that small feeling in his chest, the one that made him slightly disgusted. Like he usually said, the sooner he showered the sooner he would finish.
With his eyes glued to the blank wall at the end of the corridor full of showers, Jongho made his way deeper into the room with a towel on his shoulder and the bar of soap in his hands. Some of the guys he walked by whistled, some of them ignored him, Jongho just hoped nobody felt in the mood to pick a fight with him tonight, he truly wasn’t in the mood to throw some punches.
"Been working out, huh!?"
Someone shouted from his side, Jongho didn’t even stop to spare him a glance though, he simply kept walking with the only objective of getting to one of the free showers that were at the end of the room. No matter how much he wanted to ignore the guy that had complimented him, Jongho knew that would get him in trouble, so he forced a small smile up to his lips and faintly nodded his head to let the guy know he acknowledged him.
"It’s the best way to kill some time in here" He answered to nobody in particular, stopping as soon as he got the free shower that would belong to him for the few minutes he would take. There was some faint muttering when some of the guys agreed with him as he turned on the water, letting everybody know that he wasn’t up for some conversation.
Luckily everyone got the hint and went back to their respective conversations, leaving him out of them.
Some would define Jongho as an antisocial, he was not a person that socialized with everybody, in fact, he had to change his nature a little bit in order to survive in this place. As in schools, the people in prison divided themselves in different groups depending on their personality or on what they have done but Jongho had been quick to notice that loyalty wasn’t something that was spared in this place, in fact, it was something pretty rare to find. Inmates always wanted to be on the good list of the strongest one no matter what group he was in, they would betray whoever they had to for a little favor and information, gossip as Hoseok used to call it, was gold in here.
That’s why, despite how many years Jongho had spent locked, the only person he trusted was Mingi and that was only because they were in the same gang. He knew the guy would never betray him but he couldn’t say the same about people like Yoongi or Hoseok. They were valuable friends but they always sold themselves to the best bidder.
“Jongho”
Mingi’s voice brought him out of the small trance he had put himself into, his eyes slowly rising from the floor to meet his friend’s. Now, Mingi was usually one of the few people that somehow managed to remain happy behind bars, not because he enjoyed living in the place they were locked in but because he prefered staying positive. It helped him get through the boring routine of their everyday life.
“Mingi!”
Hoseok was quick to follow him, both of them taking the showers near Jongho’s so the three of them could participate in the conversation. Mingi glared at their interruption, frowning softly, letting the male know he really wasn’t interested in whatever gossip he was about to spill but Hoseok ignored him, not walking away.
Guess whatever Mingi had to say would have to wait until they were alone.
“Are you guys signing up for The Ring?” He asked, Mingi rolled his eyes and turned back to face his shower obviously frustrated and not willing to talk about this. “I’ve heard they’re looking for some new fighters since some of them have….”
“We’re not interested in that” Jongho cut him off quickly, The Ring was definitely something Mingi and he didn’t need in their life, no matter how many privileges the guards gave you, they both knew it wasn’t as worthy as it sounded.
“Jaehyun might join” Hoseok said, eyes carefully trained on Jongho since he knew they didn’t get along well “Thought that if one of you joined it could make things pretty interesting, you know, since your gangs are-”
“We’re not getting in The Ring Hoseok” Mingi intervened this time, voice serious and deep, lowkey threatening him in case he decided to insist “Whoever told you we were interested was wrong, look for someone else” Jongho nodded quietly to his friends words, getting rid of the soap that he had spread on his skin and hair as Hoseok simply stared at them quietly.
“Well, if you guys hear of somebody that is interested you know where to find me”
Hoseok then proceeded to walk away, leaving the two friends alone once again. Mingi watched their surroundings, making sure there was nobody dangerous nearby that could hear him and Jongho talk before opening his mouth again.
“I was at the-”
Two loud knocks interrupted him, making Mingi sighed in frustration since that sound meant it was time for them to get out of the shower and start their daily duties.
Guess what Mingi had to tell him would have to wait for a bit longer.
Tumblr media
Most of the day passed uneventfully, it was rather calm and you didn’t have anything better to do than keep rearranging your entire workspace, it almost looked like a new place and you couldn’t be happier with the result.
You got rid of the old and worn out curtains that had been covering the only source of natural light the infirmary had, the window was not too big and the bars behind the glass didn’t make it too cozy but you still thought it was better to leave it uncovered. Thanks to Mingi, the two of you had managed to make the blood stains on the walls disappear with a method he seemed to know pretty well, you never asked how he knew of it, you were sure you didn’t want to know the answer to that question. You also cleaned the entire room, there wasn’t any dust on the furniture anymore and everything smelled like clean. Some of your titles that you achieved in your student years hung on the wall and a family picture along with a cactus you adored decorated your new desk, you didn’t know if you were allowed to bring that kind of stuff into the infirmary but you had already done it. Since everything was cleaned enough, you only had to make a list of the materials and medicines you would need. Some of them had been in the cabinets but were already expired and others were needed to be bought, hopefully there weren’t too many, despite your boss saying he would buy you whatever you needed, you felt a bit bashful to start asking for stuff.
You were scribbling down the name of an ointment you would surely need in case one of the inmates burned themselves when a couple of knocks broke the silence of the room. Mingi informed you yesterday that he wouldn’t be able to help you out today because he had some activities to do, even though he was supposed to work with you, he was still an inmate and he had a schedule to follow, so you were slightly curious to see who was opening your door at the moment.
Maybe this would be your first patient?
What you honestly didn’t expect was Wooyoung, your high school friend, walk into the infirmary dressed with his guard uniform. Your heart skipped a beat, this could either complicate your plan a lot more or make it easier, it all depended on his attitude towards Jongho.
“(Y/N)”
His voice was quiet, almost a faint whisper as if he was afraid of scaring you away if he talked too loud. Wooyung’s eyes were glued to you, scanning your features while he slowly stepped inside, he probably was as surprised as you to find you in a place like this, Wooyoung knew you well enough to know working in a prison was way out of your comfort zone.
“H-Hey”
You stuttered, standing up from the floor to place the list you had been making on your desk. As soon as the paper abandoned your hand, Wooyoung reached out and tugged on your wrist hard enough to bring you closer to his body, wrapping his arms around you.
Things between the two of you had never been easy, Jongho always said Wooyoung wanted to be more than a simple friend and despite you laughing as if he was joking, you had also noticed the way he looked at you, the way he used to be so gentle and careful around you and how your opinion was the only one that mattered to him. This was also the reason why he and Jongho never got along, your childhood friend never liked him completely, Jongho never trusted Wooyoung like you did and he never hid it. Wooyoung only saw Jongho as an obstacle, he always thought he was the reason why you would never date him.
Maybe he was right.
This wasn’t the time to think about this anyways. Jongho and you were never able to date because he went to jail and when that happened, you isolated yourself and only dedicated your time to try to find the way of getting him out of jail legally, letting the friendship you and Wooyoung had get cold.
“When I saw the name of the new nurse I couldn’t believe it was you!” Wooyoung moved back enough to allow his eyes to scan your face once again, almost as if he couldn’t believe the two of you had crossed paths after so many years. A soft blush made its way up to your cheeks, the corner of your lips tilted upwards. “I mean, it’s been so long...And you’re just...You”
You couldn’t help but chuckle at his words, not surprised by what he said “Yeah, still boring old me” Your reply made him frown but you shrugged nonchalantly.
“I meant you still look beautiful, you idiot” He flicked your forehead, not leaving you time to be stunned at his blunt confession. Wooyoung had always been like this, he was never shy when it came to complimenting you, not even when people were around and that was something that always got on Jongho’s nerves.
“And you’re still so brown-nosing” You replied jokingly, rolling your eyes playfully as he chuckled “I kind of missed it, I don’t know how my self-esteem survived without you all this years” This time the two of you laughed and for a second you forgot where you were, it honestly felt as if you were back in high school, chatting between classes with him.
“God, I missed those days” Wooyung said with a dreamy smile, leaning back against your desk as he looked at you. He hadn’t changed one bit, if so, Wooyoung looked even more handsome now that some years have passed and he was way more mature than when you two were teenagers “When we only had to worry about exams”
“And not getting caught when we sneaked out of our houses” You added chuckling, making him smile too
“Oh god, I still remember that time my mom walked into my room right when Jongho-”
As soon as his name was mentioned, the atmosphere in the room turned cold. Despite the two of them being really good friends at the beginning, Jongho and Wooyoung were meant to not end up well, especially considering their choice of career. While Wooyoung worked to put people like Jongho behind bars, Jongho worked hard to avoid people like him.
They were destined to not like each other, life worked like that.
Wooyoung glanced at you quietly, hesitance obvious in his face “Have you seen him?” He asked quietly, hands resting in his pockets casually.
“Not yet” You replied with a small smile. However, when you realized you had walked straight into his trap your heart started beating faster but you tried to remain as calm as you could so he wouldn’t notice it.
“So you know he’s here” Wooyoung muttered quietly, arms coming up to cross on his chest. His posture didn’t look relaxed anymore and you could see the engines in his head turning, probably coming up with different theories as to why you had chosen to work in this prison out of all places “What are you doing here, (Y/N)?”
“Working” You scoffed, laughing it off as if you hadn’t noticed how tense the atmosphere was between the two of you, maybe Wooyoung hadn’t noticed either “Why do you think I’m here?” Your question made one of his eyebrows lift, he was watching you carefully, taking in every gesture you did and every word you said.
“Isn’t it a big coincidence that you started working in the prison Jongho is locked in?” Even though he was right, you couldn’t help but frown, acting offended at his indirect accusation.
“I could say the same thing about you, couldn’t I?” You instantly replied, maybe a bit too quick but at least it was enough to make him back off
“Touché” He simply replied, shrugging as his eyes moved away from you to scan the office “Nice little space you got here” His usual, easy-going smile had finally returned and you let your guard down once again, still acting defensive would only make him even more suspicious about everything.
“Yeah, I had to work my ass off to-”
Your words got cut off when Wooyoung’s walkie talkie started making some noise, you tried to listen in to what the person on the other line was saying but you couldn’t understand anything, it sounded like an entire different language.
“(Y/N) come on” Wooyoung started walking suddenly, motioning you with his head so you would follow him “You might have some work to do after all”
Even though you hadn’t understood whatever the other person had told Wooyoung through the walkie talkie, you were guessing someone must have hurt themselves if they needed you. With a quiet nod and not asking any questions, you started following him out of the infirmary and through the different halls the prison had, some cells were empty which made you guess that it was probably the time of the day when inmates were busy doing something or outside having a break. Wooyoung didn’t say a word, he was pretty quiet and there was no way of knowing if it still was because of the small yet tense moment the two of you had or because he was simply focused in his work, keeping an eye out for the two of you.
It wasn’t until you reached the door that led to the outside area that you started feeling a bit nervous. One thing was to treat one of them in your infirmary but working out there, surrounded by them was totally something else. What if they tried any funny business?
“What happened?” You asked quietly, eyes searching the area as you tried to distract your mind.
“Someone got hurt playing basketball” Wooyoung sighed tiredly when the two of you walked outside, your eyes found the small group of inmates surrounding someone on the floor, you could hear his grunts full of pain from where the two of you were “There you have your first patient”
Despite you instantly noticed how the bone in his knee wasn’t where it should be, your eyes instantly drifted apart to the person you’ve been dying to meet since you knew you were going to work here. There, dressed in all orange and looking stronger than ever stood your childhood friend Jongho, the one that had literally saved your life.
He hadn’t changed one bit, Jongho looked exactly like he did four years ago, although there were some black bags under his eyes and his hair wasn’t as styled as it used to be back in your high school days but for an inmate? He had managed to take care of himself pretty well in a place like this. Your stomach turned into knots as soon as you realized his attention was on you and for a second, the whole world froze around you two.
The first thing you noticed was the confusion on his face, given away by the little wrinkles that appeared on his forehead as soon as his eyes landed on you, and then his entire face changed to a surprised one. You could feel his eyes scanning you from head to toe, taking in every single detail, the smile that appeared on his face when he saw your uniform, when he realized you had finished the career you’ve always wanted to study, didn’t go unnoticed.
And then your eyes met and you swore your heart stopped beating too.
He mouthed a silent hello that made you smile, which only made him smile bigger and suddenly you felt as if a huge weight had been lifted from your shoulders.
He was glad to see you. Jongho didn’t hate you.
You felt the need, the urge to head over where he was and wrap your arms around him, keep him close to you so nobody could ever take him away but you managed to control himself when you saw how Mingi was holding him back from doing the same. Thanks God he was responsible, getting a hug from the guy that was locked in because he killed your abusive father in front of your work mates and other inmates was probably not the best idea.
You hadn’t been careful enough though and Wooyoung had instantly noticed how you slowed down your pace when your eyes landed on him, the little smiles you sent each other were also caught by his eyes.
“(Y/N)?” Wooyoung called out your name forcing you to move your eyes away from him and back to the patient you were supposed to attend. “Is it too bad?” He asked, willing you to focus on something else.
Clearing your throat, you moved your eyes back down to the guy on the floor, his knee was definitely broken and he needed to go on a small trip to the hospital to get that fixed, there was nothing you could really do for him.
“He needs a doctor, there’s nothing a could do here” You muttered, looking down at him, feeling Jongho’s eyes on you “I could give him something for the pain but I think it’s better if we wait for the ambulance” You told him, glancing at Jongho who had moved closer to where you were.
“Alright guys, time to go back inside, no more play time for today” Wooyoung said out loud, eyes trained on Jongho before he dragged them back to you “You go back to the infirmary, we’ll take care of this”
“Can I just-”
“(Y/N)” Wooyoung’s tone turned authoritative, letting you know he wouldn’t budge in your request just because the two of you were friends “Back to the infirmary”
And just like that, Jongho yand you were forced to go separate ways once again.
This time you had been so close though.
So close yet so far.

After the death of Mother's heart news post, the senior dog was done with everything through it
Tori is a puppy mother from Nebraska and she as of late endured a standout amongst the most nerve racking encounters that a pet parent will ever experience. Her adored Chloe as of late passed away. She concluded that she would impart the story to Love What Matters so whatever is left of the world would have the capacity to acknowledge what she has experienced. Simply make sure to have a lot of tissues close by
“Today was multi day I’ve been fearing. For as long as couple of weeks we’ve known the end was coming, however didn’t need it to come so quick. Our 11-year-old American Bulldog, who has been with us from the earliest starting point, was sent to hide infant paradise today.”
“Only not long after Kyle (my better half) and I met and moved in together we chose we needed to get another pooch. He had Titian an American Bulldog who was barely multi year, and I just knew I needed to have another. At the point when the time came my better half (sweetheart at the time) drove out to a little home only south of the place where we grew up and brought home our Chloe. It’s difficult to trust she was the runt of her litter. Our universes transformed, she was the most joyful doggie from the very beginning. So here we are, 18 and 24 years of age with 2 pups and only time.”
“On April 29, 2008, Kyle proposed to me. I had gotten back home from running errands to a note sitting on the entryway, sending me on a scrounger chase. I went upstairs, down the stairs, outside, to the carport, some way or another again into my auto (the man is slippery I tell ya), and afterward back upstairs. Chloe and Titian tailed me swaying their stories so hard you could hear them on the dividers as we strolled around, they were similarly as energized as I might have been. My last piece of information instructed me to go into the family room and discover something hot. There sat Kyle on the love seat, and all that truly went through my head was, ‘bow-chicka-amazing goodness.’ But turns out there was a note in the chimney with a crate joined that read, ‘You discovered your blessing here you see, now answer my inquiry. Will you wed me?’ HOLY poo! I was so stunned, and now when I think back on that astonishing minute, I recollect Chloe and Titian circling us swaying their stories and bouncing around with energy.”
“While I was at school Kyle called me and said something wasn’t right with Chloe. He had gotten back home from work and saw she was extraordinarily swollen, secured with hives everywhere on her body. After a vet ER trip, an EpiPen, and a canine that resembled a Thanksgiving day march swell, Chloe had returned to herself. We truly don’t comprehend what stung/piece her, yet I can cheerfully say it never did again.”
“Quick forward to April 1, 2010. Positive pregnancy test. Chloe was there to celebrate with me. after 7 days the most exceedingly terrible day of my life happened. As I laid on the lounge chair I knew something wasn’t right, something didn’t feel right. Chloe was with me when I went into the washroom to affirm that my most exceedingly terrible feelings of trepidation were going on. Following a night in the ER with Kyle and the next day at the OB, it was affirmed. We’d quite recently lost our infant. My heart broke into 9 million pieces. I can’t reveal to you what number of showers I absorbed while my arm hung over the edge hanging on my pooch. She was dependably there. Come two months after the fact we were completely found napping by yet another pregnancy test. I could scarcely stand the possibility of conveying an infant at that point. I was scared to the point that I would get broken once more, I didn’t know whether I could have taken another loss. I cried a great deal. Chloe was there, continually setting her drooly cheeks ideal on my leg consoling me it would have been alright.”
“In January of 2011, we invited home our most established, Wyatt. We had perused some place in our numerous handbooks or child destinations that it would be a smart thought to bring home a cover from the healing center for the puppies, so they would know new infant smell. I wasn’t there when they got their first sniff of Wyatt, yet I was told they went wild. When we, at last, returned home Chloe and Titian never left Wyatt’s side. They would do belly time with him, help with his feedings, the works. She was there.”
“Only a month and a half after Wyatt was conceived I lost my closest companion to malignancy, my grandpa. My grandpa and I were insane close, particularly so amid the most recent couple of long periods of Wyatt’s pregnancy. How about we discuss those baby blues hormones, they are insane as is nevertheless at that point include such an enormous loss. There was heaps of wild crying, late evenings of doubt, and sincerely outright dejection. Chloe was there. She’s dependable thought about my side of the quaint little inn dependably bump my hand at simply the correct minute. Also, on the off chance that she wasn’t close by of the bed resting, it was ensured she’d lay amidst the passage for us to stumble over oblivious.”
“We’d moved once more, just this opportunity to a companion’s duplex. They had around 12 ponies, and the mutts totally wanted to threaten them. One night they had become out of our yard and figured it is amusing to cause a rush. Bulldogs are not intended to keep running with the ponies, I can state that with finish certainty. Chloe came inside not well, the sort of not well where I considered her pooch bed with her. She had been stepped on. Appropriate on the highest point of her head. It was an entirely horrendous and terrifying scene. She’s my first infant. She’s constantly here, what might I manage without her?! Gratefully she pulled through and made a full recuperation. Around this time is when Titian changed. Not towards Kyle, Wyatt, or myself, but rather towards Chloe. After one an excessive number of puppy fights we needed to settle on a hard decision, Titian was excessively forceful. At that point, it was only the 4 of us; Kyle, Wyatt, Chloe and me.”
“We’ve known since we got hitched we needed in excess of 1 youngster (truly, he needed 2 and I initially needed 4), so we began striving for another. Many losses after misfortune, my heart broke again and again. All the more long, miserable showers with Chloe next to me. WHAT is going on?! For what reason wouldn’t I be able to have an infant?! It resembled each month was torment. She was there with me. After such huge numbers of loses, and afterward the long respite in nothing, we went into my OB’s office and chose to begin richness medicines, and with the second attempt, we have our Maddie. Much the same as with Wyatt, we brought home one of her covers from the healing facility for her to sniff and love on before we returned home. Chloe still dozed appropriate alongside my bed, however never in the same correct spot. She was constantly certain to make a point that I expected to keep an eye on her first before getting to my crying infants. She was there.”
“At the point when Maddie was 14 months, particularly shockingly, we were pregnant once more. In November of 2015, we invited Tucker and our family was presently entire; Kyle, Wyatt, Maddie, Tucker, Chloe and myself. On the off chance that we were home, I guarantee you she was close no less than one of us. Either wheezing endlessly, dribbling for the sustenance we had, or influencing every one of us to ask who flatulated. She was there, that was without a doubt. He most loved the spot to set down and unwind was exactly at the highest point of the stairs. In the ideal spot to ensure we’d need to crisscross around her, and I can’t reveal to you how frequently she was accidentally hit with that child entryway. Exactly at the highest point of the stairs, we have a vent. Each time she’d get energized you could hear her tail hitting the vent, ‘thud clunk thud,’ and in light of the fact that it was on the vent, you could hear her energy through the whole house. That was her spot, where she could see and smell everything. Consistently Wyatt would approach if Chloe was prepared for quaint little in her into his room. This would dependably make Maddie so distraught in light of the fact that she simply needed Chloe to love laying down with her. I don’t know why, yet sleep time was dependably in Wyatt’s room. No place else would work.”
“In March we lost my grandmother to growth. We knew she was being called home and burned through 7 days in the healing center gradually watching her blur. Knowing Grandma was kicking the bucket was agonizing, however viewing my mother, close relative, and grandpa lose her was one thing I will never recuperate from. Also, consistently when I would return home, Chloe was there. She’d sit with me in the washroom while I cried. It was around this time when she began resting in our room once more. She discovered her old spot, ideal by my side of the bed, marginally on the ground. We’d known for some time that she wasn’t doing great. Her hips were terrible and to be extremely legit, she’d assisted with one an excessive number of kitchen cleanups.”
“Two weeks prior, Kyle and I saw she was sitting up and breathing extremely bizarre. The sitting up was our first warning. On the off chance that you knew Chloe by any stretch of the imagination, you would know she’s apathetic. She was either setting down or currently squirming with energy. There truly was no in the middle of with Chloe. As I went to beware of her, our eyes met. They were her asking eyes. Eyes that stated, ‘Help me, Mama.’ I gave her a decent once finished verifying what wasn’t right. Furthermore, there they were, two expansive masses appropriate on her throat. I knew our chance was dreadfully constrained at that point. I likewise knew I required Kyle to be the one to disclose to me when and to enable me to set up the children. I will never be known as a man who can shroud their feelings, even at present I am a wreck. We’d arranged the children for what might almost certainly happen sooner than we need.”
“The Thursday before Memorial Day she wasn’t doing great, her breathing was ending up more toiled than previously and I could feel more bumps developing in her throat. Friday we saw she quit eating, this was our sign and we knew the time had come. On Sunday we told the children what the following couple of days would involve. They took that news truly well. I, then again, wailed the second they couldn’t see me. By Tuesday morning I knew the time had come. Wyatt was at school, Maddie would be soon and Tucker was getting a charge out of circling half exposed. Maddie and Tucker spent the morning attempting to motivate her to eat, giving her treats and love. She even stated, ‘Go ahead Tuck, possibly in the event that we hurry back she’ll eat.’ They extremely cherished their Chloe, she was dependably there with them.”
“Chloe was prepared, and even though all the readiness for the day, despite everything I wasn’t. I required a photo of us, one of she and I. I extremely strove for a glad ‘lovey’ picture, yet I

Renting an Apartment: Is this cost per month affordable for my budget?
The apartment's rent is $750 a month...I'm living with 2 other roommates, so we are dividing that cost three ways. We'll each owe $250 a month...plus electric ($35 - $50 a month), plus cable t.v. I wouldn't do this out of choice, they rang me. what a joke. One call centre takes your name and your date of renewal They pass you onto Call Connections Ltd who ask you about your age, address etc. Then they say we have xyz insurance companies who want to quote for you, sir ( note this is before they have any car details ) They then pass you to one insurance company to give you thier quote. Once that call is ended you bounce back to Call Connections who pass you to company number 2 etc etc I hung up. whoever devised that business model wants shooting. Why do we NEED car insurance?!?
Why is it the LAW that we have car insurance?? I honestly think it's stupid. Shouldn't we, as free Americans, be able to make the choice of whether or not we want insurance, and still legally drive a vehicle, as long as we have a license, at our own risk? Kind of like if you go skiing or snowboarding, you go at your own risk, you're not forced to get skiing insurance , or boarding insurance , or anything like that. I mean, think of this situation: I have no insurance, and I wreck into somebody. They have insurance, so they are covered. I don't, so I will either have to get rid of my car, or pay for repairs myself; that's the risk I took and this is how I'm paying for it, by being car less or spending tons of money on repairs. But why must we be forced by law to have it, or NO DRIVING FOR YOU says big ole' government?? This is angering me because I'm currently in college, without a car, and while I can walk to my work and school, it's still about 30-45 minutes each way to walk, and if I could get an old car for cheap, it would make my life MUCH easier and less of a hassle.""
Cheap Car Insurance For New Drivers In New York?
I live in New York, I'm a 18 year old male new driver. I drive a 1987 Buick Regal. Coupe. Olds 307 V8 5.0L. No ABS, no airbags. Has a factory alarm installed. Living in New York and being a new driver, I know insurance is going to be high. I go to college full time and work around 20+ hours a week, pay isn't great, so I need something affordable. I'm looking into taking the 6hr Defensive Driving class to save 10% off for 3 years. So does anyone know any legit car insurance companies that have cheap car insurance for new driver in NYS. Don't say CALL FOR QUOTES I have called many places and very high. I can't in anyway afford $3,500+ for 6 months of coverage. As far as I know the cheapest I found was Lighthouse Insurance for $328/mo with $600+ down, would like to find something cheaper, if possible, thanks!""

The cost of insurance for multiple super cars?
Alright, so let's say I win a Powerball lottery jackpot, which automatically makes me the happiest man in the world. Well.. I know that's not going to happen, since I have a horrible luck, but let's just imagine. I get a big, luxury house in Beverly Hills with an underground garage. Since I'm a huge car guy, I'm getting all of my dream cars (all brand new). How much would insurance approximately cost? And don't say anything like if you have to ask, you probably can't afford it . Well, no ****, I can't afford it and never will, I'm just curious how much expanses I would have if I was happy.""

modalert
On the morning of July 22, 2003, a mighty hurricane flew to Memphis (Tennessee, USA). The howls of the wind woke Laura Montanaro, she got out of bed and looked out the window. In the yard, fragments of paper and various rubbish flew. Laura immediately appealed to the angels to protect her and her family; she surrounded the house with a bright white glow. Above the house towered huge old oaks, which menacingly rocked under the gusts of the wind. It all looked pretty ominous, but Laura felt completely safe - she was protected by the light, so she again went to bed, listening to the hurricane. And her house, like in thousands of other houses in Memphis, lost electricity, but the woman did not lose control for a minute. When cleared up. Laura went out and saw order modalert terrible destruction around her. Trees lay on roads, on power lines, on broken roofs of houses; several people died under them. But Laura's house was not hurt. "I felt the blessing that lay on me, I felt that they were taking care of me," she recalls. "Eighteen hours later, we had electricity, while many houses remained de-energized for another two weeks - and it's very hot in the summer in Memphis!" I have no doubt that if you surround yourself with white light and call for help from angels, you will remain under their protection. I pray every night, mentally wrapping the whole earth in white light - and I call all to do the same. White light is an ancient, tried and tested tool; any person with his help can cure or protect himself, his loved ones and his property. Recently I received a message from the angels in which they offer each of us, before going to sleep, to wrap up the Earth in a white light. So our planet will be under the constant care of the angels (consider the difference in time zones). White color, like all other colors, eventually dissipates, however this nightly ritual would ensure the permanent protection of our world.
Golden light
Golden color is the color of Christ's energy as the spirit of all forgiveness and powerful, unconditional love. This is a sign that everything will turn out well. The golden color means: "Believe, because everything is in order." Those who happened to "see Jesus" claim that it is surrounded by a golden halo. Personally, I see a golden halo, as a rule, around the companions of Jesus and those who live according to his covenants. Often people see a golden light in front of a car accident. According to their elephants, it appears from nowhere and for a moment before the collision brings peace and peace to the soul. Every month Donna Fleivel and her friend Anna went to courses in Auckland (New Zealand), which is four hours' drive from their home. Usually they surrounded their car with white light, which protected them en route. But one day they forgot to do it. The friend reminded them of caution, but the women missed it. On that day, some machine at frenzied speed crossed the dividing line and jumped out onto the strip of Anna and Donna right in front of their car. Before the frontal collision, both women managed to notice a bright golden flash, although the sky remained cloudy. Donna woke up because Anna called her by name. Her friend was absolutely sure that Donna was dead, and now she offered prayers with a request to revive Donna. The women were transported by helicopter to the clinic, where they received first aid and were prescribed further treatment. X-ray images and analyzes showed that Donna's spine is damaged and the spleen is ruptured. The next few hours Donna spent in prayer. She imagined how her cells, nerves, veins and the whole body gradually recovered. Soon Donna was taken to a computer tomography. The received pictures shocked the doctors, and the study was repeated again. There was not a single break in the spleen! At night, Donna was left in the hospital for further examinations. The woman continued to pray and restore her body. She was very sorry that all her homeopathic remedies stayed at home. But soon she received a wordless telepathic message that she could heal on her own. So Donna did it. The next day, the doctors told her that she needed to stay in the hospital for another day. Donna prayed and asked the angels to rescue her from the clinic: she really wanted to stay in nature. As she asked, in ten minutes she was discharged. After a while, the osteopath told Donna that another two millimeters - and her spine would have been very bad. The driver of the machine-tractor stated that he still can not believe that after such a collision someone could survive. According to Donna, she owes life and health to angels.
People who read the gospels remember that Jesus, healing the sick, attached great importance to faith. Nowadays his words have received new evidence: as evidenced by numerous studies, the decisive factor for recovery is the patient's belief in the high qualification of the doctor. Thus, with the help of golden light you can strengthen your faith or the faith of someone you want to heal. Along with the golden one, you can use other shades. If you need additional protection, combine the golden color with white. Golden light will strengthen faith, and white will give you a sense of security. Lhasa Compton (with whom you already met) was driving along one of the roads of Arizona. This road ran in the zone of possible flooding. The sky was clouded by dark storm clouds and the downpour was about to burst forth. Then Lhasa asked the angel to fly next to her and to light her way with a white-gold light, protecting the car from danger. Water flooded the road, but the car of Lhasa continued to move smoothly along the highway. The woman arrived safely home, turned on the TV and heard that the roads were completely impassable and that several motorists could not overcome the flooded areas. Lhasa thanked the light for her help. Calling this or that color, do not be afraid to make a mistake and choose something wrong. Perhaps someone will ask: Why not call all the colors at once - for safety? This is also an effective method. But it's better to pray, ask angels to help you choose the right color and trust your intuition. I repeat once again: it is impossible to make a mistake. Your clear and clear desire to put a person on your feet and your love - these are the real forces leading to healing.
Angelic lights
If you see "angelic lights" before you, then your prayers did not go unheeded. I mean sparks (similar to those that remain after the fireworks) were given a flash of light (as in photographing). White lights are the reflections of the aura of guardian angels, they arise when angels pass through time and space. Colored lights - reflections of the aura of the archangels and great masters. If a person has never heard of these lights, then when he meets them, he may think that he has a problem with his vision. Anyway, Melanie decided that way. During pregnancy, Melanie occasionally saw white and red flashes from time to time. She never heard of angelic lights, so she turned to the oculists for help. Two doctors independently assured Melanie that her vision was excellent, and these lights must have been peculiar to her pregnancy. But even after the birth of the child, Melanie continued to see sparks. One evening, when Melanie was sitting in the courtyard and admiring the surrounding trees, she saw beside her huge pillars of blue and red light. She had never seen such a bright light; Mela did not know what to do. Now she realizes that she saw the archangels and that the blue radiance emanated from the archangel Michael. According to Melanie, archangels appeared in her life thanks to her daughter. And, says Melanie, her daughter helped her to discover extraordinary abilities. White flashes showed the presence of several modafinil more angels - they helped her daughter to be born. Red lights came, most likely, from the eastern goddess of compassion, Kuan Yin. Kuan Yin is a Buddhist deity; her name is translated as "Responding to all prayers." She is especially attentive to children and mothers, which explains her presence in Melanie's life. White lights often appear in cases where angels are going to protect a person, as was the case with Nicole Herrera. Nicole was riding on a blackboard in the surf of San Diego. Suddenly a huge wave caught her, and then swept her head. Nicole tried to swim to the surface, but could not navigate, where the top, and where the bottom. However, she managed to come up; Nicole saw white flashes around her. A week later she read that such outbreaks - a sign of the presence of angels. Angelic lights appear even when a person needs comfort and support. Little Annie from Queensland (Australia) was very afraid of going to bed: she was frightened by the darkness. "And one day in my bedroom lights came on," Annie recalls. - She hung over my crib - white, blue, multi-colored. They were very small sparks. When they appeared, something buzzed in my ears. Light and quiet buzz reassured the girl, and she quietly fell asleep. Annie talked about her mother's lights, but she did not understand anything. Now Annie is trying to help her little son - he says he sees sparks. Small children are especially susceptible to angelic lights. The angels want us to be calm; they are whenever we feel bad or scared. Darkness really scares us, and the angels let us know that they are always there. Lindsay, the five-year-old daughter of Tina Markarian, fell seriously ill, she was constantly feverish. At night Tina took her to her bed to constantly monitor the temperature. Lindsay often threw herself up, turned from side to side, moaning - neither she nor her mother

Berlin – February 9-12, 2017
Day 1 (9th): The train ride from Prague to Berlin was pretty – we went through some hillier areas of the countryside and were near a river for a while. Passed through Dresden, which looked like a very beautiful town. The train was very nice – there were big luggage racks in the middle of the cart where you could set your larger luggage (like mine) and overhead racks too for smaller bags. The seats were pretty roomy – not like airplane seats. There were also outlets at each seat and there was Wifi (at least for a little bit – it went out later). I definitely like taking the train.
Arrived in the Hauptbahnof (main train station) in Berlin – it was HUGE. Made my way to the Europaplatz where I met an old friend, Thea. I haven’t seen her in years, and it was so great to see her now. She was the German foreign exchange student at our school during my junior year of high school – we did a couple of plays together during that time. She and her boyfriend were kind enough to let me stay with them during my few days in Berlin.
We did some quick grocery shopping and then went to her flat. Berlin feels much different than Prague – it’s much more new and modern looking. And it’s so much bigger – almost double the size of Prague! And I thought Prague was big. There are numerous U-bahns (underground metros), whereas Prague only had 3 main lines. They also have S-bahns (above ground metros/trains), trams, and buses. There is a way to get everywhere. The public transportation wasn’t quite as intuitive as Prague’s was, but once you looked at it for a while, it started to make sense.
I arrived in Berlin around 1:30PM, so Thea and I walked back to her flat and relaxed for a bit while we chatted. She is an actress and had a performance on this night – opening night, in fact. Got settled and relaxed while Thea went early to her show. Her boyfriend, Philip, and I went to her show a little later. We had to go to the Apple Store to pick up his computer, and it was the largest Apple Store I’ve ever seen. But it also is the only one in Berlin, so it had to be a bit bigger. We went to the shopping district of Krunsgardstrasse for this. There were so many shopping areas in here that it seemed like I was back in the States. Then we headed to Klosterstrasse to the Theater Discount where Thea was performing. Philip and I were on a list to get tickets, so I felt very VIP haha. I met some of her and Philip’s friends, who were kind enough to speak in English so I could understand. Then we went in to see Thea’s show. It was very interesting for me to watch since it was only in German. Thea had told me a little about it earlier, and it was a play about 3 people who are in Hell, but aren’t quite sure at first what is going on. As the play goes on, they drive each other crazy, and then the play ends. But then it begins again, which is supposed to represent what Hell would be like – stuck with these annoying people everyday for all eternity. Even though I couldn’t understand the worlds, I could get the gist of what was going on. Thea did amazing – she always was a great actress. Afterwards, we all hung out at the theater and had drinks and talked. Again, it was very kind of everyone to speak English so that I could participate in the conversations. We came back to the flat and had a few glasses of wine to further discuss the night.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Day 2 (10th): The next day we had a delicious big breakfast filled with eggs, bacon, cheese, and fruit. When I come back, I’m definitely going to adopt this type of breakfast more often. Lounged around and was lazy. Since it was sunny outside (for once!), I decided to go on a free walking tour of the city. Thea took me to Brandenburg Gate where I met with the tour group and then she left and I went on the tour. It was a very good tour – I highly recommend the Sandeman tours throughout the major cities of Europe. We saw the Brandenburg Gate, the Memorial for Murdered Jews, the site of Hitler’s Bunker, the former SS Headquarters, the Berlin Wall, the dividing East/West Berlin line, the Luftwaffe HQ, the Parizian Platz, the Konzerthaus, the Burning Book Memorial, and Humboldt University. It was all extremely informative. It was also sad to think of how much Berlin was destroyed during WWII and a lot of the original architecture and history was lost. Thea met me after the tour and we went to have a coffee/hot chocolate before she went to do her show – it was soooo cold on the walking tour, so I was more than happy to put my hands around something warm. We chatted for a little bit and then got on the U-Bahn so she could get to her show. I headed back to her flat and relaxed for the night – the hot shower felt fantastic. I also put some photos up on my computer. Philip and I talked for quite a while – I am so grateful that so many Germans know English. I have gotten very lucky. We drank some wine until Thea got home, then we drank some more together and she told us how the show went that night. There is fake blood involved in the play, so she has to wash her clothes for the play each night. She and I stayed up chatting about everything under the sun until about 3AM! Wow! Headed to bed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Day 3 (11th): Slept in the next day (felt good!) and then ate some breakfast at the flat. Philip went to watch a football match, so Thea and I went to the train station to get my ticket to go to Warsaw tomorrow. Then we headed to a neighborhood called Kreuzberg. We ate at a Vietnamese restaurant called Umami, which was delicious. I had this drink called the “Chiaxotic” which had aloe vera, mint, blueberries, and lime juice. It was so refreshing and delicious. I struggled with chopsticks during my meal, but was able to manage it by the end. The restaurant was very neat looking and had a neat bathroom. Then we proceeded to walk further into Kreuzberg and climb this very large hill where you can get a view of the city. Once we reached the top, we saw a man propose to a woman and she said yes! So we took their photograph for them. It was very cute – he got her a bunch of roses as well. Walked back down the hill and I got to try a currywurst – it’s like a bratwurst made with curry. It was delicious. Then Thea and I headed to Scholeinstrasse, which has a very active night life and shopping area. There were many people and shops/restaurants/bars. It was very neat. Thea had to go to her show, so we got back on the U-Bahn and started to head over that way. I headed back to the flat and started to repack my bags for tomorrow, called my credit union to let them know I was going to be traveling, etc. Philip went and got us doner kebabs to eat, which were very delicious – I got chicken in mine. Philip and I talked for quite a while and then we both got tired. I took a quick shower and then made sure I had all my items together for the morning. Went to sleep.

Day 4 (12th): Woke up at a decent time and said goodbye to Thea and Philip. She was tired since the previous night was the last night of her show, but she got up and said bye to me anyway. They were both so kind in letting me stay with them. Made my way through Berlin to board the train to Warsaw!

46 percent of voters is not that many people.
If every Donald Trump voter again cast their ballot for Donald Trump in 2020, he could still fall short of victory — possibly devastatingly so.
Approximately 46 percent of Americans voted for Trump in 2016. That’s fewer than voted for Mitt Romney four years earlier and only slightly more than the 45.5 percent who voted for John McCain during his landslide defeat in 2008.
That Trump became president where Romney and McCain failed is a fascinating story of demographic alignments with the quirks of the Electoral College and the shifting dynamics of third-party candidates. But rather than focusing on the changes that allowed Trump to win where Romney lost, the media have instead become curiously hung up on the views of the not-especially-large minority of the public that voted for Trump.
I went back out and talked to the voters I interviewed before the election. Here's what I found #trump100days https://t.co/LUBfRaosAM — SalenaZito (@SalenaZito) April 23, 2017
The truth is, however, that all incumbent presidents retain the vast majority of their support. Herbert Hoover presided over the most disastrous term of office on record and still got 80 percent of his previous vote total during his obviously doomed reelection bid. Trump faced a divided opposition and the overwhelming presumption that he would lose.
The primary political question of 2018 and 2020 isn’t whether Trump’s voters will abandon him and the GOP, but whether Democrats will manage to field candidates and messages that inspire Trump’s critics to unite and vote for the same person. It’s not an impossible task, but it’s not a trivial one either.
To understand America’s political future, we need to know less about Trump’s supporters than about his opponents.
Three things “Trump voters” might mean
Roughly speaking, vague references to “Trump voters” tend to end up falling into one of three buckets:
Trump’s primary voters: These are the true Donald Trump fans. The people who decided to throw tradition to the wind and turn out and vote to nominate a person who didn’t have the basic attributes of a traditional presidential nominee. That amounts to about 14 million people who voted for him — only 45 percent of Republican Party primary voters.
The typical Trump voter: This is a very boring but numerically large group of people — basically Republicans. Most Republicans didn’t vote in the 2016 GOP primary, and most 2016 GOP primary voters didn’t vote for Trump. But most of these Republicans who weren’t especially enthusiastic about Trump did what they do every four years and voted for the GOP nominee, just as Hillary Clinton coasted to easy wins in states like Vermont and Washington where the primaries showed her to have few enthusiasts.
The marginal Trump voters: Typical Republican Party voters are a much larger group of people than swing voters who defected from the Democrats to vote for Trump. But winning the votes of people who always vote GOP isn’t enough to make you president. The converts were small in number, but they made the difference between winning and losing.
All these groups of people are interesting, but they are interesting and important for different reasons. In particular, while voters in category one and category two are easier to locate (because they’re more numerous), the kind of “Trump Country” reporting that unearths them is largely irrelevant for the purposes of political analysis. The United States is a gigantic country with 330 million residents and well over 100 million people who routinely vote in presidential elections. Even a candidate who loses badly is going to have a large base of core supporters.
Marginal Trump voters matter a lot more politically. Presumably some people voted for Barack Obama in part because he pledged to renegotiate NAFTA, were disappointed that he didn’t, voted for Trump because he pledged to renegotiate NAFTA, and may be disappointed when he doesn’t do it either.
Tracking these marginal voters makes sense, but it’s important to remember how small the margin really was. Fox News covered a Washington Post poll showing that 96 percent of Trump voters stand by their decision with the headline “No Regrets.” The fact is, however, that if 4 percent of Trump voters had stayed home rather than voting Trump, he would have lost Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and the White House.
Third parties made a big difference in 2016
While Trump got a smaller share of the vote than Romney, Gary Johnson and Jill Stein both massively improved on their 2012 showings. The result was that while Hillary Clinton did 3 percentage points worse than Barack Obama had done four years earlier, even as the GOP also lost ground.
Even though the total numbers involved aren’t huge, it’s important to not understate the scale of the third-party improvement. Evan McMullin in fifth place got a larger share of the vote in 2016 than Stein had gotten in fourth place in 2012. Stein’s level of support slightly more than tripled and so did Gary Johnson’s.
These third-party voters made a huge difference in the Electoral College. Trump didn’t improve on Romney’s overall performance, but his supporters are more efficiently sorted to win electoral votes, so he improved on Romney’s totals in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. Still, he didn’t crack 50 percent in any of those states. He was also below 50 in North Carolina, Florida, and Arizona outside of the shattered blue wall. And thanks to McMullin’s strong Mormon support, he even fell far below 50 percent in Utah.
Yet despite third-party voters’ centrality to the outcome, we haven’t yet seen the cavalcade of loving profiles of “Johnson Country” asking what people who voted for neither Trump nor Clinton think. We know that the 2016 presidential election featured a highly unusual matchup between two nominees who were viewed negatively by most Americans. And we know that most voters assumed Clinton would win. The reaction of those who voted for neither to the realities of Trump-era governance is a more important political question than the reactions of Trump’s supporters.
We should pay attention to non-Trump voters
Trump is by no means the first president to take office without having secured a majority of the popular vote.
Pew
But Bill Clinton and George W. Bush both took office with strong overall approval ratings, indicating that many Americans who didn’t vote for the winner nevertheless were impressed by his outreach during the transition and early months of his presidency. Trump has governed with essentially zero effort at outreach — no token Democrat in his Cabinet, no reassuring words to those alarmed by his victory, and no effort to prioritize the elements of his agenda that have some cross-party appeal.
Trump’s inability to win over the majority of voters who backed a rival candidate is a much bigger deal than his skill at retaining the support of most of the people who already voted for him. The big question in American politics is whether Trump’s opponents can find a platform and set of candidates that unite the diverse and somewhat diffuse anti-Trump majority, not whether the president’s fans continue to celebrate him.
