anyone else find raurus arm .. WEIRD? like, judging how the rings on the fingers are literally MADE for absorbing someones elses ability just adds to rauru and the lot of the sonau feeling .. off- what do you mean you wear a bracelet made for incorporating swears of fealty from others and gaining their abilities while they gain nothing?? and then rauru doesnt even seem to make use of that (which i guess is in line with .. the ghost copies links gets going away if the actual sage is there- SO WHATS THE POINT THEN???) though thats a bit more unclear since ..... we dont get to see ANYTHING from the last battle, all standing around with dirt tm texture on them 5 times and then they throw their weapons (weird.... use your damn ability) so zelda can use her new important time power .... once .... to make them fly backwards again and rauru does one thing :/

another thing, funny how the enigma stones are supposedly enhancing whatever powers someone already had, bc other than ganondorf none really gain anything, they act like they achieved some new power level (and suddendly know how to do it as soon as they have the stone) but then its just a silent ghost copy of themselves and they gain ... nothing but some jewelry, i find that a little .. underwhelming? and strange bc why does gan get a nuclear power upgrade and they print a bad copy of themselves and its treated like the same thing (i know its gan and he kinda deserves to get more out of it but do you know what i mean?)

cant help but also feel like its not even .. related to their own ability, like at all, istn it supped to enhance THEIR power, what does a ghost copy have to do with water magic? (wouldnt that more be sth of the shiekah/yiga .. creating copies of yourself?) if anything its something for link to gain .. i guess? or raurus arm i suppose? wouldnt it have been great if they all had a weaker version of the ability at the start and AFTER they gain the stone it gets upgraded, or its like it now is and after the they get their stone its stronger, like maybe rijus is as normal but then when she has the stone it charges faster and doesnt get canceled if she gets knocked over (assuming the way to control the ability stays the same ... which i wouldnt want bc that is so bad to control even if you change it like this) and giving link access to it is just PART of the stones power and not literally all it is

AND THEN ... you cant even argue that it doubles their fighting power bc now theres two of each bc .... the copies ... go away when the actual sage is there .......................................... so its really just a hamfisted way to give you their power ... and its not really giving you their power its giving you a copy of them which is just clunky and unnecessary, you want the theme to be connection (lol where) so you give the player soulless silent ghosts to accompany you ...? not even the real deal? (i know that would be harder to do bc they are all important ppl in their own region and turning them off would be be strange- but them having to teleport around isnt an argument bc they also do that in their dungeon- hello yuno i didnt know you can fall from the sky at will- and all that wouldnt be a problem with my next suggestion

wouldnt it be even MORE of a connection if it worked more like in botw? giving YOU a literal part of their ability, their soul even, and their abilities are now so much a part of you that you cant sever them, its integrated into your moveset, no silent ghosts to run after, your friends are part of you, ACTUAL YOU and not part of an ancient kings arm bracelet rings

i think the fact that witch hat atelier somewhat struggles with introducing a few too many characters at a time but then not really taking the time to fully flesh out or utilize them leaving for much to desire from characters that do appear to be quite interesting is something i consider a blunder of the series but its also rather humorous to me because i think this author just really likes character design i will be honest

Makes me so so sad that my first relationship was bad for me even though nothing explicitly bad happened. I see all these things about first loves or firsts in general and how fun it is but all I felt was obsessive, scared, confused, very rarely good. I only had fun when I was drunk (and he always made sure I was safe when I was drunk ofc) but the rest of it-- and even that-- was so tense and fraught, like trying to make unoiled gears turn

Mother, im sitting here at 4am, eating mini easter eggs and ive had tge most brilliant idea!! (Inspired by @inkdrinkerworld 's fic)

Okay so, poly!moonwater and readers been having trouble sleeping due to tensions/problems with her pureblood family. As a result shes been taking more naps, but they arent restful. So reader were napping in Rems bed (the dungeons were too cold) but after a fitful 30 minutes she gets up groggy, sleep deprived and beyond frustrated. She stumbles her way down to the common room, pin point Sirius lounging across the couch and promptly throws herself down to cuddle with him and continue her nap. Everyone (minus Siri) is shook. Jamie even asks if she got the wrong person because Reggie was sitting over there (in which he got a one eyed death glare before she burrowed into Siris chest and passed out).

Now, what everybody else didnt know was that Siri had more or less adopted reader as his own (she remined him so much of Reggie, being her big brother was 2nd nature). And while Barty was her person, he was a little too crazy to be comforting in this situation ("y/n, i'll get rid of them for you. Its not hard to do so" "Barty, no."). And of course Siri nows how bad their kind of familys are so he'd been taking care of reader on the down low as an older brother would.

Bonus if Reggie then decides that looks warm and fuzzy and wants Siri cuddles too so he joins ( it took him so long to get to a point where he could let himself be vunerable enough to openly allow Siri to take care of him 😭)

aweeee poor reader. this ended up being way more serious than I thought it would be? like it's not funny at all, there's no humour (which feels odd to me, usually I can throw some jokes or banter in there) but plenty of hurt comfort???.......idk, I can't tell if this is any good, it feels very different from my usual pieces

You were miserable to say the least; you couldn’t remember when the last time you had a restful sleep was, and nothing you did seemed to help.

The closer it got to the Winter Holidays, the more your mind seemed to spiral. Every time you began to relax, your heart pounded as if you’d accidentally leaned too far back in your chair, reminding you of your upcoming visit home. Every time you closed your eyes, you were bombarded with images of angry faces and violent curses being shot at you.

The Slytherin dungeons were too cold, and every time you found your way into Regulus’ dorm, Barty insisted on butting in, and though you appreciated his support, you couldn’t handle his threats promises to burn down your home with your parents in it. 

Remus and Regulus both suggested you perhaps talk to Madame Pomfrey about getting some dreamless sleep or sleeping draught, but you were too embarrassed to admit to your two overprotective boyfriends that you’ve used them so frequently during your life for this very reason that they had lost all efficacy. 

It had gotten to the point that you managed to get the most sleep in the library bent over the table with your face on your book whilst Remus and Regulus did their work (and sometimes yours), and that honestly left you feeling more painfully tired than you had been before your nap.

So, you were nearly falling asleep at the Gryffindor table in the Great Hall over your chicken and roast potatoes when Remus gently nudged you and suggested you go lie down for a bit and you wanted to weep into your potatoes which was only slightly less embarrassing than sleeping in them, causing him and Regulus to bring you up to Gryffindor tower.

You’d kicked them both out of the Marauders’ dorm room after some time – Remus for snoring and Regulus because the sound of him turning the pages of his book was distracting you. He promised to stop reading, but then he breathed too loudly and you started crying.

You were overtired, emotional, and running on fumes.

You’d counted puffskeins, you’d had a warm glass of milk, you’d taken off articles of clothing and reconfigured your outfit numerous times (which was currently Remus’ jumper and no pants), and you’d tried every position imaginable to no avail. 

You think you might have perhaps gotten five minutes of sleep before you woke up with a start, a barely repressed scream grating through your teeth.

Feeling disturbingly weepy and no less groggy from your horrid sleep, you pulled on a pair of your sweatpants and grabbed the throw blanket from the end Remus’ bed before trudging down the stairs to the common room.

“You should have seen the look on Filch’s face- oh! Hi Y/N!” James called as you made your way over to the three-seater and stood over the black-haired boy currently occupying it.

“Oh, Trouble.” He cooed sympathetically at you before kicking his feet out, laying back, and opening his arms for you to join him. You quickly climbed on top of him, and he tucked you in between the back of the sofa and his side, bending your knee so that your thigh rested on top of his, and pulled the blanket over the two of you.

You let out a shaky sigh and felt the first few tears fall from your eyes and onto Sirius’ chest.

“Uhm...” James said loudly, looking over to both Regulus and Remus cuddled in a large plush chair from his place on the loveseat with Lily like ‘are you seeing this right now?’. “I think you’ve got the wrong wizard there, L/N.” He said with a nervous laugh.

“No, she’s quite alright.” Sirius gritted back at him, looking far more severe than James thought the situation called for as he rubbed his hand consolingly up and down your arm. 

James looked to your boyfriends, his face clearly asking all the questions that his mouth wasn’t.

“He helps, sometimes.” Regulus admitted, not looking particularly happy that you chose his brother over him, but not nearly as murderous as James figured he might look if he’d found Lily snuggled up like that with some other bloke. And it appeared as though the look of heartbreak on Remus’ face was caused more by your current sorry state and less about your current cuddle partner.

“But...your brother?” James asked, still befuddled over this development. “Doesn’t she usually go to Junior for things like this?”

Sirius scoffed. “Junior’s solution to almost anything is fire or murder.”

“Or both.” You whimpered quietly, causing Sirius to tighten his arm around you and bring his other hand up to continue stroking your arm.

“Besides, Barty’s an only child.” Regulus said flippantly.

“What’s that got to do with it?” James asked, slightly offended at the insinuation that anything may be wrong with him on account of his only child-ness. 

Regulus’ irritable demeanor over Sirius usurping you was quickly replaced by a cocky smirk at getting under James’ skin.

“Let me ask you this, Potter: last summer when Lily returned your letters unopened and called you an arrogant toerag after saying she’d rather date the giant squid, whose arms did you cry into?”

“He didn’t cry.” Lily laughed at the same time as James answered “Sirius’” without any hesitation.

“What?” Lily asked, looking slightly horrified that she may have actually hurt James’ feelings.

“Oh, all the time, every time, actually.” James said readily. 

“He got snot on so many of my favourite band-tee’s, Red. As a matter of fact, I expect retribution.” Sirius commented.

“And why do you think you cried into Sirius’ arms?” Regulus continued.

“Well...because he’s my best mate.” James said simply.

“You may think that’s the reason, but you’re wrong. It’s because Sirius is an older brother.”

James scoffed at that. “Please, that has nothing to do with it!”

“Have you ever cried in Remus’ arms?”

“No, but-”

“Pettigrew’s?”

James grimaced but answered honestly. “No.”

“No. Because they’re not older brothers.” Regulus said definitively.

“That actually makes sense...” Lily mused aloud. 

“You say that like you’re surprised, Evans. I know you’re not used to good idea’s coming out of men’s mouths, but I do assure you it happens more frequently than you might imagine.” Regulus taunted, earning him a pillow being hurled at his head. 

Much to James’ chagrin, his seeker reflexes caught the pillow before it made impact with his face. 

“Tosser.” James grumbled. 

“Would you guys shut up.” Sirius whispered, causing everyone to look over at you. 

Regulus couldn’t even find it in him to be miffed when he saw you sleeping what looked to be quite peacefully in Sirius’ arms. Your eyes were slightly swollen from your tears, and he could see the tracks they had left on your cheeks and over the bridge of your nose, but you looked so content. 

“So... all big brothers know how to do that?” James asked incredulously.

“I doubt it.” Sirius commented quietly.

“Only ones who know what it’s like to live in a Pureblood hellscape and needed to share his bed with his younger brother who was too scared to sleep on his own for years.” Regulus added quietly, staring unseeingly towards you and Sirius. Remus pulled Regulus tighter into his side and began rubbing his arm consolingly.

Suddenly, things started to make a little more sense to James. 

“I’ll write to mum.” James stated, causing both brothers, Lily, and Remus to look at him bemusedly.

“About what?” Remus asked finally.

“Y/N staying with us.” James said simply.

watching paul get close with the fremen,,,,, fucking hell that hurts. dune really is a tragedy at the end of the day huh. they go from reluctant allies to friends but the whole time you know the switch will happen any moment now and they will be devotees and he will be messiah and that gap between them will never be as small as it is out in the sand. huddled in those tents. sharing drinks and laughs. im not doing ok

this especially hurts with chani. their love is so genuine and pure and she wears blue for him (which by the way sticks out so much more with how muted the colors of the rest of the movie are... i could talk about this all day) but she can see what he is becoming and he's trying to avoid it for her so hard but there's no avoiding fate. LORD ABOVE!!!!

i loveeee jessica being the manipulator thats pulling all the strings, urging paul towards becoming messiah. rebecca ferguson is such a talented actress she really understands the character so well. also as a hashtag certified alia atreides enjoyer her scheming with her unborn fetus might be the most unhinged thing ever but thats also so fucking funny aka its as dune as it gets. dune is WEIRD and im glad theyre not shying away from that. thank u denis

arrakis looks so much more beautiful in this movie like theres defo been some changes with how its framed and presented it feels so much grander and idk just ??? what it makes me think is that we're not seeing arrakis, we're finally seeing dune. we're seeing the land as the fremen see it as paul becomes one of them. i might be looking too much into it but who cares. god i love this movie

but yes more on the fremen in the first section of the movie. i like how there's this cluster of non-believers almost?? its a nice breath of fresh air. its hard to believe every single person would be just devoted to the prophecy and it adds some depth.

i will say the one thing i didnt like is the way stilgar is characterized?? i dont think he was so blindly devoted to paul in the books, and definitely not alia and leto ii after him as the atreides line went on. he's always been a source of small doubt towards paul but i think they're moving that element of him onto chani, so i think i can let it slide. i'd like to see him question alia more in the future though.

the scene where paul was named muad'dib and usul??? god it was so cute which made it so heart wrenching. all the fremen coming together and welcoming him into their lives. as a brother. as a friend. only for him to turn around and make them all bow before him. ohhhhh i cant do this

when the arena doors open and that loud ass fucking music BOOMS. makes the room fucking SHAKE. thats a PRESENCE right there. THATS how you introduce your antagonist.

the music playing as he fights being as fucking deranged as he is. chaotic and weird and unsettling. just. oh my god feyd had such a presence from the moment he showed up and he did not lose it for a single second. you could feel him LOOMING over the movie the whole time just as he looms over the whole book from his very first scene. oh my goddddd oh my godd

GEIDI PRIME. THE ARENA. THAT MASSIVE HARKONNEN PALACE. oh my god. once more. that sense of scale. the harkonnens love to flaunt their wealth so ofc they have huge fuck off arenas and castles where everything and everyone feels so SMALL in comparison.

dont even get me started on the black and white. the way it accents those coal black teeth and mouths. the way it makes everything look so much more inhuman and clinical and PERFECT because harkonnen power is so absolute and ruthless.

and the way the baron sits so so high above watching the fighting. literally impossible to picture his elevation above his people above the rest of the universe. the way feyd looks to him for approval after every movement. even as his uncle is trying to kill him they exchange those little looks and feyd knows hes getting his chance to show off while the baron gives him his "gift" what a fucked up family what the hell

speaking of fucked up family! wow! they are SO fucked up! there is something seriously strange being hinted at with feyd and the baron! feyd making his own brother bow and kiss his boot! those constant threats of death against rabban as if theyre nothing! this family is capital f FUCKED up. they hurt each other as much as they hurt everyone around them. theyre made of violence and blood and they could never show each other kindness because they dont know such a thing

what can i say about the feyd/margot scenes that hasnt been said already. like wow just unpack the boy's trauma like that. use him and then throw him to the wolves. once again the bene gesserit make it so clear this is THEIR empire and THEIR bloodlines and THEIR messiah. too bad jessica doesnt see that collective "ours" and instead settles for "mine" when it comes to the messiah

i already talked so much about feyd's presence so just another small note. that scene in sietch tabr. he is a MONSTER and i am EATING IT UP

i cant even begin to explain. how much it fucked me up. when paul took the water of life. i knew thats where we were going. i knew it was unavoidable. and yet still. when chani bent over him and screamed at everyone for making him follow this prophecy. when she was forced to shed tears to save his life. when she got him back only to realize she lost him and he wasnt the person she loved anymore. it broke me

chani's utter hatred for the prophecy and what paul is becoming added to it so much. i know some people are unhappy with how much shes been changed from the books but i think its elevated her character and all these scenes so much. and oh my god does zendaya DELIVER when the spotlight is on her. i never doubted her for a moment but all those changes to chani really allowed to let her shine. thats that euphoria acting coming out baby !!!!

like i cannot say this enough. that complete switch is so sudden but so subtle at the same time. its still paul technically but hes so different

what makes dune's weird concepts so easy to take in once you get into the book is all that internal monologue that really leads you through these complex concepts slowly. and yet in a few shots and a few lines of dialogue timothee chalamet somehow manages to express the idea of "i just learned the secrets of the fucking universe and im about to start a holy war" ???? HOW DO YOU EVEN DO THIS???? HOW ARE YOU THIS TALENTED???? OH MY GOD!!!!!!!! IT WAS A FEW LOOKS A FEW MOVENTS JUST THE RIGHT TONE OF VOICE AND THATS HIM!!! THATS HIM BABY!!!! also the way in that scene gurney is hesitant about it all until paul proclaims himself the duke of arrakis. and suddenly gurney has house atreides again and he doesnt care what chani does anymore. hes a follower to paul just as everyone else in that room. nothing changes. fuck me man i cant do this anymore

have i mentioned yet im so excited for chani in the next movie. her arc is so interesting. children of dune is defo not happening with the way chani has been set up so i doubt we'll see leto ii and ghanima but. lets hope we still get all the cool stuff wit alia at least. and maybe chani can be the one who leads the charge against her

okay so. the way theres no music. no fancy cuts no slow mo no over the top effects. its just the slashing of the blades and those BEAUTIFUL shadowed shots with the setting sun in the background. this really is the sun setting on the peaceful universe. just pain and suffering ahead marked with the blood spilled from the two who were meant to produce the messiah but who both got thrown off this path by the greed and selfishness of their forefathers. guys im normal about paul and feyd. definitely. i definitely have very normal thoughts about how they are foils and yet two sides of the same coin. yes guys

paul making the emperor kiss his ring is already such an insane fucking scene and it translated to the screen so well. amazing performances all around

i didnt talk much about florence pugh's irulan but she really didnt have much time to shine. im excited to see where she goes next and i definitely think shes a great fit but i need to see more of her to really be able to say more

i will say this. the way chani, irulan and jessica are the only ones who dont kneel for paul. the three most important women in his life who give him his power, everything he has. jessica made him and she made him the messiah. chani opened her life up to him, helped him become and in turn control the fremen, and she shed her tears for him and fulfilled her role in the prophecy against her wishes. irulan is his path to the throne, his key to being emperor. and none of them bow before him because why would they bow before a power they are responsible for, a power they own, a power they gave?

but for chani its different ofc. she also refuses to bow because she despises everything paul stands for.

oh my god i could say so much about the last scene being chani. not paul reveling in his victory. paul leaves for his next bloodshed and chani is left behind crying for the person she loves who she knows is gone. crying for her people, again enslaved. crying those same tears that brought the messiah back into this world.

theres a lot to be said about the role of gender in dune and how it hangs over every facet of this world but thats a whole separate analysis post to be had so ill just throw it down here in this little point

another thing chani does very well in the movies is she really makes paul's villainy explicitly clear. SO many people read dune and completely misunderstand it and walk away from it concluding its a "white savior narrative" and nothing more which. yes!! yes it is!!!! but thats not a good thing!!!! its never stated to be a good thing!!!!

this movie is not gonna let you misunderstand the message of the story no matter how blind you try to be to it. paul is not a good guy. hes never been the good guy. hes the protagonist, but hes not the hero. and chani allows that to translate from book to movie very well. have i mentioned yet i love movie chani

chani fills in the holes left behind by the narration and internal monologues of the book and, bonus points, she holds the people who dont understand what dune is about by the hand and tells them explicitly "PAUL IS A BAD GUY!!! DONT IDOLIZE PAUL!!!! DONT WALK AWAY FROM DUNE THINKING ITS PRAISING PAUL'S ACTIONS!!!"

i think thats pretty much all i had to say. i might reblog with additions as they hit me but yeah i. i enjoyed the movie. so so much. i think i might watch it again sometime soon while its still in cinemas.

College!Mizu is very popular on campus. The target of many crushes, many confessions, bit never reciprocating them. She doesn't try to get attention, she really doesn't but it seems to follow her where ever she goes. That include attention from you.

College!Mizu was surprised when you approached her for the upcoming class project. Little did she know it took all of your courage to do so. She planned to do this with one of her friends but since you asked she'd feel bad refusing, she has seen you struggling a little in this particular class.

College!Mizu invites herself over to your place pretty casually. But don't you worry, she brings snacks. Explains why she asked for your favorites earlier that day. She was amused by how flustered you got trying to settle on just one so she brought more than one snack.

College!Mizu gets entirely too close to you, making it impossible for you to focus on the project. Try as you might you keep looking at her rather than focusing on the task at hand. Because of this time passes without you getting much done at all.

College!Mizu isn't oblivious to why you're so distracted. Her suspicions are only confirmed when she asks you to meet up for coffee and your eyes suddenly light up. When she puts her number into your phone you can't help but get the biggest smile on your face.

College!Mizu texts you the very next day asking if you're available tonight. She was so shocked by how quickly you replied, but also a lot more talkative through texts then in person. She even sent you a picture of herself so you could figure out what to wear to your date.

College!Mizu was a little bit late because of her swordsmanship practice but she did let you know in advance. Besides you don't mind waiting because she did send you a picture while on break. You never knew how pretty she looked with her hair down.

College!Mizu enjoys taking a break from everything and just talking to someone with nothing impending happening. Yes, there's the project but you have lots of time. Truth be told she wanted to see what you were like when you're casual with her.

College!Mizu is well aware that she can be a little bit intimidating at first, so breaking the ice like this will be good for the two of you if you're gonna work together in the future. You smiled down at your screen, your body squished in-between Travis- your friend- and Anika. The two side eyed you, giggling at how your face lit up each time your phone would ding.

Within moments of you sending your last text, expressing and reminding the brunette girl- Tara Carpenter- of how she 'accidentally' on purpose distracted your week with her persisting request. It was cute, endearing even. She wanted something so desperately, she wanted you so desperately.

The second Tara read your message her caller ID flashed on your screen, alerting the group near you. Your fingers acted swiftly, pressing -Accept- before pushing off the couch, whispering to your friends you'd be back.

"I told you that was an accident. I'm so sorry, Y/N. If I knew you was in a mock exam I wouldn't have rang you." Tara breathed heavy through the phone, a slightly ruffling sound in the background. You rolled your eyes, smiling into the open air, walking around the greenery of your schools grounds.

"Its fine, Tara." You was yet to accept her invitation of a date, something she blamed on herself. In all honesly, you was just so swamped with school, and you didn't want her to give up so easily. She was so cute when she whined, all grumpy throughout the day because she wasn't allowed something.

"So...that date?" Of course, the famous date was always on Tara's mind, that was the simple reason why she wasn't revising even though she had a media's test coming up.

You laughed softly, something Tara found herself revelling in. She smiled happily, muttering fake distressed excuse me's as she paced down the halls.

"Tara-" you was cut off within seconds of expressing your sorrow; yet again you was stuck in boring revision lessons, wanting nothing more than to skip to spend time with your knight in...pirate clothing.

"Y/N, my dear.-" Tara had a habit of using mocking pet-names; if only you didnt tell her you wanted a hopless romantic partner.

"20 minutes, just 1200 seconds of your precious time. You and me, my apartment makes three?" She compromised, teasing you with her smile. You bit your lip, nibbling the flesh into your mouth in thought; Tara Carpenter? Or knowing you'd pass your exam?

"No funny business?" You asked, smiling deeper when she stuttered with her speech.

"If we just so happen to kiss, then that's just a win." Tara shouted down the speaker, hanging up before you'd saying something witty in return.

You groaned at her statement, returning back to your friends; who teased you ferociously within moments of your return.

In Tara's words she sent an adequate amount of messages, reminding you that you was expected at her hours at 7pm. In your eyes, she spammed you religiously all throughout six o'clock, and only stopped the moment your fist collided into her wooden front door.

The second the door was pulled open, standing taller than you; almost stalking over your frame was Samantha Carpenter, the mother gothel to Tara's Repunzel. She glared uncomfortably at you, her arms crossed over her chest.

"Can I help you?" She all but snarled, huffing out her chest, to state dominance? You smiled sweet at her, not letting her scary stature alter your mood.

You held out your hand, shuffling forward so she would take it. Her eyes scrunched, knitting into a confused face. She cupped your hand, shaking it solemnly.

"Good Evening, Ms Carpenter. Tara invited me over, did she tell you?" Her face drained, her shoulders releasing the tight knot she forced apon them. Her face released of stress, pulling into a smile.

"Your Y/N?-" when she was met with a nod, a little chuckle leaving your lip, smiling like a child, the older girl sighed heavily

"Oh, I'm so sorry. Tara's going to rip my head off, please come in" she opened her door even further, letting you into her home. Sam was notoriously known around the campus as Tara's scary older sister, so when you had to face the monster yourself you was shocked; she was just some protective sister who doesn't trust easy.

You passed her in the hall, stopping in your track when you noticed the living room was drawn into a quite the romantic setting: flowers bunched on the table, Dehlias. A few packets of different brands of candy, no chocolate in sight. A film the both of you shared an interest in paused on the screen, blankets and pillows laid sprawl on the floor. Everything was perfect, but Tara was no where to be found.

Sam slid beside you, her smile stiff. "She likes you. Please don't break her heart, or you know, ill have to break your nose and spine." She muttered, smiling when you stared at her with a less than impressed expression.

"What if I'd like that?" Tara rushed into the room, slamming down her backpack, breathing heavy.

"Are you flirting with my sister?" Tara breathed out, pulling out a dozen of roses. Your heart fluttered, face turning into a pink frenzy when she offered you the the bunch.

"I had them on order." She shrugged, trying her best to avoid the blush that was plaguing her cheeks. She ducked into her shoulder, brushing past you and walking into the open kitchen.

"She wasn't." Sam stated, sliding into her coat, zipping it before picking up her keys.

"I'm trusting you, Tara. I'll be going." Sam left with a small smile, letting the door lock behind her.

"Finally." Tara sighed out, plopping herself onto the floor, the mass amount of blankets suffercating her. She smiled up at you, offering her hand.

You blushed for the millionth time this night, landing down beside her. She flushed immediately, shuffling even further into your person space; something you'd grant, but only for her.

"Do you wanna watch this film?" She asked, clicking onto the movie she already had displayed on the screen. The name of the movie splashed on the screen, making you chuckle at the meaningful choice.

"Moana?"

She laughed, howling into her open palm with laughter. She rocked back and forth, snorting when she covered her face with her hand. You looked at her in absolute enchant, you was captivated by her in every way.

She was flawless beautiful, her nose painted in freckles her cheeks hollow with dimples, her big baby brown eyes purring into yours. She was charming, charismatic, she always had something witty to say which only added to her alluring self. You wanted her in every way possible, it was puzzling to think that all of this started because of your drunk friends hornyness, but you wouldn't change anything about your situation with Tara.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" She questioned, her face still pink with blush; flushed at the way you called out her sentimental self.

"Your beautiful." She stopped, her face scrunching into a massive smile, almost taking up all her face. You told yourself, time and time again; don't fall for someone, especially so fast. But she was so undeniably perfect, so herself that nothing would have stopped you from leaning forward.

Your lips grazed hers at first, teasing the waters with a simple peck. Her perfume engulfed your scenes, the vanilla moisturiser trapping you. Your hand lifted to her cheek, cupping it softly before pulling the girl further into you; your lips acting like a wildfire, itching ever desire the brunette rawred out of you.

She acted quicker, pushing you down more than happy to indulge in whatever you was offering. Her lips planted on yours, hands tugging at your shirt.

Her lips were feverish, tongue grazing your bottom lip. You groaned, pulling away, to her great dismay.

"Slow down there, pirate." She whined at your request, bruising your neck with her needy lips. You giggled at the feeling of her lips all over you: your neck, your cheek, the tip of your nose, and forehead.

"I remember you told me you'd make me scream louder than a siren." She husked into your ear, breathing lightly into your neck; teeth grazing your ear, kissing it with a satisfied hum.

You groaned in return, back arching before your hands tugged her down; making sure her body colliding with the floor with a a loud thud.

"I told myself I wouldn't be this easy. But since your being such a gentleman, and that I have something to prove...we can watch the movie later." You promised, placing a small kiss on her lips before you sank down her body further, taking the reminding of her clothes with you.

“really?” i smile and chris nods.

i squeal and hug chris as he agrees to going to the party with me and kiss his cheek before i go up to his room and get changed. i dont bother picking out a nice outfit as i only have very limited clothing in the bag i packed.

me and chris both finish getting ready and we get in his truck and drive the the liquor store that everyone underage goes to.

“can you just get me something fruity please.” i say the the guy working at the store. he nods and grabs me a 6 pack of coolers and i get a few beers for chris even though he is driving.

“aw you thought of me.” he sarcastically says as i show him the beers i bought.

“technically i didnt do much considering i had to use your money because my fucking wallet is at home.” i roll my eyes. “its ok kid i will probably only drink one of these tonight anyways i cant actually get drunk if your drinking. we know how that turned out last time.” he laughs.

“oh i bet you find that funny.” i say leaning over the middle console and kiss him. “whats that for?” he questions as no one is around to see us. “good luck?” i shrug and we both smile. he leans in for another and i get comfortable as he drives to the party.

“kid please be safe, i will be with you all night just be careful with what you drink.” chris says parking on the street near the party. i nod as i feel like im 4 years old getting a lecture from a parents. we both crack open a drink and go in for a cheers “cheers to this being our first party as a fake couple.” i grin. we clink our drinks and then sip. getting out of the car chris scurries over to my side and opens my door for me and helps me out.

we walk into the party and it immediately smells of sweat, alcohol and weed. perfect.

chris’ pov

i fucked up, so bad.

one second she was cuddled up to my side drink in one hand and the other wrapped around me. the next she is so drunk she cant stand. “kid how the fuck does this happen twice now?” i ask.

she doesnt respond as i help her in to the back seat with help from matt. “thank you bro ill see you back home.” i say to matt. “oh my god chris!” y/n says point at matt, “wrong boy babe.” i chuckle and she turns to look at me, “ohhhhh matt, have you seen my boyfriend!” she whispers the last bit while winking and grinning ear to ear. “teach your girl how to drink next time.” matt chuckles and i buckle her in to the seat and close the door, “i know but she has been through a rough couple of days she needed to let loose.”

leaving matt and nick at the party i drive y/n home. she stayed quiet on the drive home, probably asleep. we get to my house and i open the back door. “im drunk not a baby.” she slurs her words sitting up. “well you sure get drunk and act like a baby.” i reply and she rolls her eyes. “hey your mean.” she pouts as i lift her out of the truck, bending down and lifting her over my shoulder “hey let go of me!” she exclaims lightly hitting my back and i laugh at her drunken state.

walking in to my house and gently laying her on my couch. “be quiet my parents are home ok.” i say leaning over her. she gives me a thumbs up while her eyes are closed. i close the front door and take my shoes off and walk over to y/n and kneel down to take her shoes off. “oh sorry mister hands off!” she mumbles, “i need to take your shoes off so you can go to bed.” i chuckle. “i am a taken women, hands off.” she whisper yells. “your taken are you?” i decide to play along and continue removing her shoes. “yep, my boyfriend will kill you if he knew you were taking my shoes off.” she grins.

“whos your boyfriend?” i ask, “chris. hes the best you would love him. hes not nice to everyone i mean he wasnt even nice to me for a bit but he is the best!” she explains. i pause at what she said, i wasnt nice to her.

“why wasnt he nice to you?”

“he would always tease me in school you know but now hes the most amazing boy i know.”

shit.

im the worst.

“well im sure he feels really bad for that.” i say getting up and putting he shoes in the closet. i walk over to her and kiss her on the forehead, “cmon lets get you upstairs.” i grunt sitting her up. “chris!” she says and a childish grin appears on her face. “where did you go?” she mumbles as she wraps her arms around my neck and my hands go to her waist.

“never left kid” i say lifting her up and walking upstairs. i set her down at my doorway and she walks over to my bed clearly ready for some sleep. “you gonna sleep in jeans?” i say running over to my closet and putting on a pair of pyjama pants. she shakes her head and i toss her a pair of my boxers and a one of my shirts to sleep in. “can you change yourself tonight?” i say and she nods and hiccups.

“turn around please.” she asks and i oblige. “all done.”

i turn around and walk towards my bed shutting the lights off and turning on my low led strips. joining her in bed and turning on a show to fall asleep to. shes turns around to face me. “chris,” she begins “hmm?”

“im really in love with you, like a lot alot.” she mumbles. “your drunk pretty girl.”

“i mean it.” she says and i look at her. “if you can tell me this tomorrow when your not drunk then i while believe it.” i chuckle my heart beating fast at her words.

she cuddles in to my side throwing her arm over my bare chest and i begin drawing circles on it. “do you?”

“do i what.” i look down at her. “love me?”

“you find out that answer tomorrow if your being truthful.” i say looking forward at the tv. she sighs in deafeat and lays her head on my chest and quickly drifts off to sleep.

Ever since you guys had the project together it seemed like the both of you grew closer and closer together. Your parents know Rio and Aaron. You guys have had each other over for dinner so many times you cant even count it.

With each passing second you can feel yourself falling for him more and more. Though it seems like he’s been the same since you first met.

You were over at Miles place for dinner; your parents couldn’t make it due to work, but you didn’t mind. You sat in Miles room on his bed watching movies when he asked you a question that made your eyes go wide.

“You got a boyfriend?” He says leaning back on the palms of his hands with his legs straight out in front of him. “ No I don’t, do you have a girlfriend?” “ Nah”. This odd silence fell between the two of you, more awkward than usual. “Well, do you like anyone then?” you say turning your head towards him.

He shifts his weight onto his left hand while his right comes up to itch his neck. “ Well yea”. You feel your heart sink for a second; I mean why wouldn’t he like anyone? Your curiosity was rising “ Do I know who she is?”.

He stiffens before he could open his mouth Rio’s voice can be heard calling you guys down for dinner “ Kids come down food is ready!”. He gets up first leaving the room without a word you sigh following him.

After dinner you help wash dishes and clean off the table. When done you take yourself to Miles room; he was sitting on his bed phone in hand. He looks up at you putting his phone face down on the bed.

You look at the time 7:25 you don’t have to go home till 9:30. He speaks up “ so you wanna watch somethin’ ?” “Oh yea sure, you can choose”. The awkward silence was there again. He grabs the remote and puts something you’ve both already see on.

“You asked me somethin earlier” You thought for a second trying to remember what he’s talking about, but then a lightbulb goes off in your head. “ yea I did” He starts “ shes real nice, and pretty. Shes smart as hell too. We watch a ton of bad movies and laugh about how bad they are, you’d love her”. Feeling a bit defeated you sigh. “ Yea probably”.

In that moment Miles starts laughing “I know you can be an airhead sometimes but really?” He looks over at you and you look back confused. “ What are you talking about” “ Como estas tan despistada?”

“I’m talking about you”

You sit registering what he just said. “Huh” you weren’t thinking straight “ ME?” he nods “ who else do i watch trashy movies with just to rate them? What other girls do my mom let into the house with no questions asked? WHO else does my mom let come into my room AND lets me shut the door?” he says pointing to the door.

“Now i feel dumb” you say covering your face. He starts laughing at you.”Meaning you like me too” He doesn’t say it as a question he says it as a statement. “yeaaa” you say looking through your hands like this. 🫣

With that he sits next to you. “ yea i knew you did.” You look at him in disbelief “then why didnt you say anything??” “ Its funny watching you get flustered and stuff” he days nudging your shoulder.

You look over at him seeing his adorning brown eyes. “ So, what does that make us now?” you say quietly as if you were to say it any louder he would turn away and act as if this never happened.

“ Lets take it slow, ill take you on a date tomorrow, how does that sound Mi novia?” He reached for your hand intertwining it with your own “ sounds perfect”.

bit of thancred character musing under the cut that im gonna try to approximate from a 6am discord rambling into something i can actually post. both SHB and EW spoilers included

i saw some folks talking on twt about how guilt seems to be a very important factor in his life and i agree. i think a lot of major parts of his character and arcs have been due to guilt over something he did (or didnt even really do, re: the whole goobue rampage situation). it's driven him to work his ass off after louisoix which lead to him getting possessed... but its probably also what motivated him to do better for ryne after being forced to look his fuckups directly in the eye instead of just wallowing about them. but i think, at the same time, he doesnt really seem to, like... actually be proud of himself for a lot of the stuff he's done in order to work off that guilt? the biggest giveaway for that being the line in endwalker on the ragnarok where he talks about his "good deeds" cynically and seems to insist that they were never really that impactful in the first place. that they'll just go to dust when he dies.

in shb, during the ahm areng segment, not only does he talk down on himself in general, but also puts down his attempts to help OG minfilia back in the pre-ARR days... when i'm pretty sure she never even blamed him for the goobue rampage in the first place.

it's all a little bit sad to me, tbh. i've seen some people reason that, because he was only able to escape poverty due to louisoix seeing potential in his thieving skills, he's essentially internalized the idea that he's only really worth keeping around by ANYONE if he's actively being productive, either helping others or trying to fix whatever fuckups he feels he's made. i think that would explain a lot of this

note the "few positive traits" line, which to me comes across as "i was only picked up out of childhood poverty because he thought my skills were useful." though i don't really know how much of that mentality he's managed to work past by post endwalker. he IS able to go off on his own, and mentions that he trusts the scions to keep themselves safe now... but as i ranted about before, the short story points out that he's only really content to rest briefly before he feels obligated again to seek out unrest to try and help, specifically mentioning minfilia again. also, a couple times during the story, notably post ARR after his possession, mid SHB after he's wounded in a fight with sineaters, and post SHB after he passes out due to the weakening soul-body bond, he seems to dislike even having to rest for medical reasons

it's a pretty interesting part of his character to me. idk if the writers specifically had his rigorous upbringing in mind when they wrote these parts of his character, but to me it would make a lot of sense as an explanation for why he's so averse to rest and why he carries so much guilt and why he's so passionate about keeping the folks around him safe. that's kinda been his whole reason for life since he was a kid-- using his skills for the benefit of others. to him, doing anything other than that would be a waste, it seems.
