"You're the best, Norris" Lando didn't expect that reaction, now he can feel his cheeks burning

I got up and run to Daniel. After Silverstone, I decided to wait for Danny's test with Pirelli. After he finished a call from Helmut Marko was all we need to know that he got the seat for the rest of the season. Even if I have a good relationship with the australian, I organized a few days off with Lando, Max, Nyck, some frineds and myself to let Nyck know that we're his friends and friends support each other.

"It's been only a week, you know?" He said laughing

"I don't care, I'm happy. These past 7 months had been like going on a rollercoaster over and over again so, you know. Even if it's AlphaTauri, you have your way back home, you never left, you just have to travel the world over in search of what you need and then return to find it"

"I know Char and thank you for everything" His eyes got glossy so I hug him "Do you like my design?" He said ponting to his sweater

Once in the airplane

They looked at each other and start with their goofiness and well... I guess they really missed each other. Maybe Carlos and I have competition.

"We are pretty good looking guys, you know?" Daniel said with a smile on his face

"Even you could use us as your wallpaper" said Lando

"Good offer but nothing can beat my photo with Tom Holland" I said with a side smile and ready to take a nap before we arrive in Budapest

"When are you gonna tell her how you feel?" asked Daniel looking at Lando

"I don't know what are you talking about" he answer looking at the mirror

Well, I sign my contract with McLaren, I was feeling bad about the decision, just for Danny and I spent the night with him and his girlfriend just talking and at some point we got more serious and I just told him and without knowing about Red Bull: What is a home if not the first place you learn yo run from?"

I smiled to the camera "Then he told me about the third driver offer and I felt different, by the time he leave in 2018 I guess that he felt that he was destroying everything and he just needed to slip quietly to the back door without causing to much noise and then not stop running. And maybe that was he needed more than what he really wanted, let go the feeling of wanted to go back and remember what you once had and what you once where "

"But then I told him that it's funny that the feeling of leave home and being far away make us wander our choices but for Danny is something else. He's back home and ready to no longer remember which tale of his past is true and which is an invention. Outside he's the same on the inside he's the same kid that leave Australia looking for a dream"

"I guess he's your favourite person between the drivers" asked the producer

"No, Daniel is my brother and I know he feels the same about me"

Headcanons for a Camp Camp season post-David adopting Max

(Because I got back to Camp Camp for no reason at all and it is now everyone's problem. Also apparently new episode incoming? YOOO)

WARNING THERE ARE SWEARS IN THIS BUT I MEAN IT'S CAMP CAMP SO YOU KNOW 😅

Here we go!

No one knows at first

First episode starts with something random (Idk maybe something about change that makes everyone freaking out, you know how CC goes) and the entire time there are hints, like Max arriving at Camp with David and David always being in the proximity of Max. Towards the end Max makes a half-assed comment about it

Neil: Well, I guess some things never change

Neil: This place is still pretty fucked up

Max: Yeah, this is weirder than David adopting me at the end of last summer

(pause)

Everyone: WAIT WHAT?!

Casual episodes have background scenes where David puts a hand in front of Max whenever he wants to do something dangerous, or he picks him up

Max is now enrolled in Camp Campbell for Music Camp. He is never seen actually practicing during afternoon activities, he kinda just stands on his boot, but when no one is watching, especially at night, he does play a bit. He plays a guitar that was the first birthday present he got from David

He's genuinely good, he just thinks that the others will make fun of him for specifically playing guitar and ask him what campfire songs did David teach him

He's right and the answer is ALL OF THEM

Max is back to the plan of making David snap, but the idea evolved from "no way a person can be this happy" to "no way a parent can be this happy". That's totally NOT projection of his own trauma and he DOES NOT expect David to abandon him the moment it becomes too much (wink)

THE AMOUNT OF DAD JOKES ISTG. Max is 100% sure he'll go crazy out of tree puns alone. David is fully convinced that's peak dad behavior and non-negotiable

David: I'd love to take you on a vacation to trees' favourite city!

Max: David no.

David: Montreeal!

Max: DAVID NO.

David: Why so tense, Max? Are you okay?

Max: STOP RIGHT NOW.

David: Should I... leaf you alone?

Max: *groans forever*

A full episode where David is terrified of making preferences for his son and struggles between being a counselor and a father, fearing that the others might feel left out. Ultimately it is pointed out by everyone that Max was always his favourite, therefore he was a shit about it from the beginning and no one really cares (David feels relieved and quite conflicted about this)

Whenever the campers need permission to do something dangerous and there is REALLY no other option, Max sighs and does his best "please I really wanna do this, you are my guardian right?" act. It's embarassing how quickly David caves in

An episode about being a young single father, maybe David going on a date (I'm thinking the cute waitress from the Bonquisha episode and/or the bartender guy from the town episode, just to make some comebacks), having tons in common and getting along, but not wanting to commit with someone with a son. David feels pretty lonely, but he 100% can only be with someone that accepts Max as well (also pan David my beloved 🩷💛💙)

Max discovers David's tipping point when the kid gets seriously hurt because of a stupidly dangerous adventure. Max gets scolded like he didn't think David was able to. It follows a pretty tense period where Max thinks this is it, but David is just very embarassed for snapping like that and while he thinks Max can survive more than he can, he needs him to be safe. After talking they get much closer

David has no idea how to ground someone, especially his son. Usually, when he feels like he has to, he consults Gwen or, heaven forbid, Quartermaster

An episode where the ideal camper arrives. Loves outdoors, loves activities, loves singing along and saluting the flag, so David gets excited. The entire time the campers try to figure out if Max is jealous, but he shows no sign. Obviously the camper is someone evil because this is Camp Camp, and at the end Max stomps the person with a "sorry sweetheart, I'm his favourite"

Max doesn't call him dad, David knows this and never presses him. But the kid slips sometimes and corrects himself quickly, although David never seems to notice

He actually does notice and every night he proceeds to giggle into his log pillow like a high schooler with a crush

An episode where the campers try to figure out how the whole adoption situation happened, since neither Max nor David really explained it. The hypothetical story becomes increasingly crazier and more complex, between alien invations, warlocks and internal monologues. At the end a flashback is shown of Max waiting at camp. Gwen is in the cabin, then David arrives with his cheek red and bloody

David: It took some convincing

Gwen: Oh, David...

David: I'm alright. I knew who I was dealing with, and apparently they're this aggressive only to strangers. It could've been a lot worse, and they said yes anyway

Gwen: So... now what?

David: Now? Now I'm bringing him home

David had everything ready for adoption way before meeting Max, stating that as a counselor you never know what might happen. He thinks it's commendable. Max thinks it's fucking creepy

After The Forest episode David developed a bit of feral instincts, but never really showed them. Since Max can usually defend himself better than David does, there is no need to intervene. Until Daniel comes back, and makes the mistake of kidnapping Max this time, wanting to play with David on how to find his kid. He did not know. David turns into wolf dad, literally growling and hunting for his cub. Imagine a feral David roaring and growling "WHERE THE FUCK IS MY KID DANIEL??". Suffice to say, Daniel is sent to the hospital (praying the ultra lord) and Max starts to think, between Daniel and David, maybe it's his dad the psychotic one

He doesn't mind it that much

Possible outcome is Daniel being astonished by such energy, realizing that David just won't die, and feeling something strong for him, starting to ponder if David is an reincarnation of Xemug... he is giving himself an excuse, he basically just got a crush on David. If that would turn him madder or start his redemption arc, I have no idea, but I kinda like it 😂 (actually I might make a separate post about this, I got an idea for another season sequel to this one and yes, pretty Dadvid 💕💕)

Post this incident that ruined it, Mr. Honeynuts now wears a little Camp Campbell counselor uniform. David made it of course, and while Max voices his contempt, the bear was getting rough to hug and the shirt is soft

Idea gag of Max saying "did you know that *insert disturbing emotional abuse practice* isn't okay? Learned that last year"

They got blackmail material on each other. Max obviously uses it the most, between embarassing underpants and sleep talking, but in extreme cases David is not above pulling out his cute Max photo collection

Yes, he got several of those

Yes, he is waiting for someone to ask about it and show them like the proud parent he is

After David adopted Max, he started to work two jobs to make ends meet (I'm thinking teacher and maybe night guard, very standard). He's actually pretty good at both, but it makes him very exhausted. He once snapped at Max out of exhaustion and since then, he decided to rest whenever he feels tired (you know, like a normal person). Max jokes that he was supposed to make his life a nightmare, not help him develop a better and healthier lifestyle

They got a method for asking permission, "bullshit for fun": David allows him some usually unallowed stuff and he gets to have some cute father-son moments in exchange

Max: Okay, it's a huge concert, so I'm willing to go as far as a full week of tucking in bed

David: I'm not letting you go out of town all on your own that easily, young man! The week of that, and three days of hand holding when we get into a crowd!

Max: Mmm... one hand holding and... urgh... one day of camping together

David: WAIT, REALLY?!

Max: It's a really good concert

David: DEAL!!!!

During a particolarly bad night of Max having nightmares, David spends the night comforting him. Max jokes that perhaps David can get even a hug out of this. David states that their system is a fun thing between them for treating responsibilities and boundaries in a less serious way, but if Max needs comfort, that's always free

An episode in which Max hears David talk to Gwen, saying stuff like "I don't have enough money for him. I don't think I can make it. I'm so sorry, poor Max". He then starts the most effective escape from Camp Campbell plan he has ever put in motion, genuinely making it except he comes back because he misses everything. He screams at David for making him love him only to dump him. At last David understands the situation and hugs him, revealing that... he was talking about a dog he wanted to adopt for Max. Max will never live that down, and David is in absolute glee for the following days because his son loves him

Sometimes Max says "Language!" without realizing. It's horrifying for all people involved, even David

On the other hand, David starts to swear more. The thing is, he's used to Max and it's such a foreign thing to him that sometimes he doesn't realize it was him

David: Hold on, now where the fuck is everyone?

David: Language!

David: ... wait-

Idea crossover headcanon, David's last name is Corduroy, his dad is a cousin of the Corduroys of Gravity Falls. But as a matter of fact, David never calls his father dad, going for either sir or sergeant

I have the idea of introducing this father in an episode flashback from before the adoption. David's father, sergeant Jeffrey Corduroy, comes to the camp to "visit his son and reconnect after such a long time". The man is huge and affable, friendly like David, but David turns into a Max version of himself when he's around. After everyone states that he seems cool, David gets pissed even more and basically ditch camp activities the whole day

Max gets a moment alone with the sergent and presses a little more, thrown off by meeting the first person David seems to openly hate. As Max is being Max, Jeff loses it pretty quickly, revealing the kindness is a mask. As he is on his way to hit Max, David puts himself in between. He scolds his father, mad like never before, stating that one apology won't make up for ten years of hell. Jeff leaves, David is so tired his legs won't hold, Max helps him get back to the cabin and they stay there

When the two are alone eventually, David tells him his story: he actually learned about survival from his dad first, he got trained mercilessly to the point of spitting blood, for ten long years. At some point his parents decided to divorce, and he was sent to Camp Campbell to not be in the way. He felt happy there for the first time, but he spiralled after leaving, as his dad left and his mother was depressed. She sent him to France at the clown school, again to not be in the way, and when he was old enough he simply left his house to find his own way to be happy. The only place where that was, was Camp Campbell

David apologizes for making his first story about camp too cheerful, as he should have been sincere. Max comes to two conclusions that night: that they are way more similar than he expected (something he didn't believe when he first heard the camp story from David), and that... maybe David is kind to everyone because he used all the hate he has on that asshole

Possible last episode of the season is another Parent Day. Everyone is teasing Max over the fact that every day is Parent Day for him, and Max complains but passively shows how he can't wait for it. Obviously David is way too gleeful about it. Then David disappears and no one knows where he is, and Max gets in the worse mood possible, making it everyone's problem. Everyone is actually kinda supportive and that turns him from angry to simply sad, although Gwen states that whatever happened to David, he promised to be there therefore he will be

At the exhibition part, when it's Max' turn, David arrives just in time, running in full survival attire like in The Forest. Basically David had another canoe incident, and was hunted down by two more wolves. It turns out that they're the pups of the wolfie he befriended before, they were hunted by men and that's why they were very aggressive towards him at first. Another adventure ensued, with the pups learning how to survive nature

Of course this is not explained to the people (just like The Forest), David apologizes for the late, Max says "fuck you dad" and hugs him in front of everyone

Follows the most mundane celebration between parents, with David (after taking off the survival look) looking a bit goofy and uncomfortable with so many adults while being a young man, but he does his best. Finally a moment of tranquility for the campers, as they watch their parents

Neil: You know Max, maybe you had to learn to appreciate the hell that is Camp Campbell, to meet a parent that truly cared for you. Maybe it was all a learning experience, and this is your reward

Max: ...

Neil: ...

Max: Well, this place sucks, and my dad is a fucking idiot. Definitely not worth it

(Max scoffs, then he smiles at David waving at him. The other campers hold back laughter, clearly not believing him)

It's implied that from then on Max starts calling David dad full time

They‘ve changed though. And it’s Harry’s fault. He knows it. He’s wrapped up in his own mind, an awful sort of knot that he can’t figure out how to untangle, and the one thing that always works isn’t working anymore. He feels stuck and doesn’t know what to do. But at the same time he knows, if he doesn’t do anything soon, everything could crumble at his feet.

Louis is the only one who’s able to get through to Harry and that wasn’t supposed to stop. He’s always been the one to break down Harry’s walls, and it’s okay if Harry starts to lose himself in the process, because Louis always, always builds him back up again, pieces him back together.

Okay I have something that's probably not going to make it to AO3 so I'll post it here because it's short but sweet and I really like it?

I'VE GOT THE MOVES, A LESTAPPEN STORY.

The both of them wake at the exact same time, each to their own phone ringing.

Max reaches for it sooner than Charles, so he's the first one to hear his agent screaming in his ears.

"I-we what? Who d- Lando? Christ."

At the other side of the bed the same conversation is being held in a mix of English and Italian.

"No we didn't want to co- Cazzo (shit). Non ci credo (I can't believe it). What do we do now?"

They hang up and sigh. The simmetry of their gestures would make them laugh in any other circumstance but they're just too upset to bother.

They look at each other, trying to read the other's mind.

"I'm sorry."

Max is the first one to speak. He knows this is going to affect Charles way more than himself.

"I shouldn't have invited you to that stupid party."

Charles doesn't say a word. The expression on his face is hard to read. He looks as if he wants to speak, but each time his lips part they soon find each other again and no sound comes out.

Max's phone rings once again, breaking the silence.

" It's - uhm, it's Lando. He probably wants to apologize. What do I do?"

"Put him on speaker. I want to hear what he has to say."

His tone is cold and Max doesn't like it one bit. He does as asked.

"Lando. Just so you know, you're on speaker mate, Charles is here listening as well."

"Guys fuck. I'm sorry. Like, really sorry. I didn't mean to post that picture. Shit I wish I never took that at all. Charles I'm - fuck, I don't know what to say. I'll delete it stat."

"Don't. Leave it there."

Max looks at Charles with a frown of confusion on his face.

"Everyone saw that already so what's the point."

"Charles I really am sorry. I wish I d-"

"Yes Lando, you said that already. You wish you hadn't posted that. Still, you did."

"Lando, mate, we appreciate your apologies. Don't do anything. We'll call you back."

With that, Max hangs up and crosses the bed to reach for his boyfriend.

"Hey. Talk to me. Let's analyze the situation together, yes?"

"What's to analyze, Max? Lando outed us. Not that I didn't want to but, shit, I wanted to at least tell my family first?"

"I know schatje, I know. But we can either face it or let it destroy us and I don't honestly want it to affect us more than it should."

"Ferrari is going to hate me."

"Well, I'm sure Marko is somewhere having a heart attack right now. I'm dating a man and that man is Charles Leclerc? Oh he's probably dead by now."

That puts a little smile on Charles' lips.

"How are you so calm about this?"

"I'm not. But I am worried about you more than I am angry about this whole thing."

"I want to see the picture. Did you see it?"

Max shakes his head as he grabs his phone and opens instagram.

"It's on Lando.jpg right?"

"I hope. It's normally just Carlos that ends up on his main."

Charles is hugging Max from behind, his head resting on Max's left shoulder to look at the phone.

The first pic on the post is one of Charles alone, dancing to the music. There's a caption, too. <<He got moves ya know.>>

Max is scrolling the other pictures but what really captures Charles' attention is the comment section.

Max chuckles at that. It never ceases to amaze him how Charles fused himself with Italy, Italians and all things related.

"I stopped eating pineapple on Pizza, I think that's a start. Anyway, there's plenty of comments about us where they call us Lestappen."

Charles reflects on it for a second.

"Lestappen?"

"Yep."

"I don't like it."

"I do."

"Of course you do, it's your surname basically."

"Someone's jealous."

"I'm not je-shit Max, look at this."

"Is that admin for real?"

"To be fair we did almost forget we were not alone on that podium."

"Schat, you won. I couldn't care less about what others would think. Like I don't right now. I love you and you love me, so fuck everyone else."

"You want to schedule an interview or something?"

"They will probably make us do one anyway. But like, we should address it."

"Give me the phone."

Max pulls the phone from Charles' hands and starts to type.

"There you go"

Okay, so here's the thing. I believe we've established the fact that Lance is David's son to his very core. Not very outgoing, heart of gold, a fighter, a survivor. Plus he believes everything Max does is cool and if we bring IALS into the mix he is pretty obsessed with Max so I'd say definately David's child.

And then he goes around and pulls shit like this and my brain just goes: "He is also Max's son sucker!", because honestly that was such a Max move, I needed a moment to remind myself this was Lance's chapter. The "my papa loves me so much that when I die he'll be devasted so I'll make him hate me by being a cunt so he won't be devastated when I'm gone" move that Lance made? Not an original buddy! It's already been done, by your dad, when he made his bapak believe that he'll sacrifice him when he was actually planning on sacrificing himself. And guess what? It did not work! And it will not work for you either Lance! (Note to Lance, have Gwen pass it on to him please?). And I'm gonna go ahead and guess that Max won't know about it until quite later onto the plot? I mean he'll know that something is up with Lance but he will mention it to David and he'll be like "Mon ange please leave it alone" . Because I feel like if he does catch on about what Lance said to David he'll confront him about it and Lance will tell him the truth about why he said what he said. And if that happens I need Max to tell him this story. I need him to know that his thing he does is never gonna work. Oh god, so much pain.

I'm not even gonna talk about the Theia stuff because it also reminds me of TLND Max. When he pretended that David was trivial to him when David was his everything? Why is Lance picking up Max's coping mechanisms, Lance buddy you're smarter than this! Oh can someone please tell him that making the live of his life believe he isn't worth it didn't work with David and it won't work with Theia either? Again, painn

Here's something I didn't expect to hurt me as much as it did. Mavid. Did David seriously lie to Max? When did those two get to the point where they lie to each other? I mean hide stuff from each other is something but straight up lying in each other's faces? That's another thing altogether. What I'd happening to them and can someone please snap their heads straight and remind them that they are Max and David and it's them against the world and they should be inseparable instead of lying to each other?? Also, did Max go to see Mina? I feel like he went to see Mina, even though I'm secretly hoping it's Rafael. I have a wild imagination.

Also, the "your love gets people hurt" like from IALS making it to LBAF hurts a lot more than it should, Dani whyy😭 And please explain what happened to my sweet baby AJ, was he sad because of Régine( whom I want to smack almost as much as her mother at this point) or was it something else?

Work got busy because of my own dumb-assery because I wanted to work with some new people and took on some new work and now i am regret. But it's a short project and should be over by November so I just need to survive this cursed month.

🎤 Lando at the post-race press conference in Qatar:

Interviewer: Lando, if we can come to you now. Tremendous drive from P10 on the grid. Very well done to you. What were your expectations coming into the race, first of all?

Lando: I mean, think we knew we had great pace. So it was a bit tough to know with – just what you had to do with the pit stops and things. I think it was a bit hard for anyone to really know how it was all going to play out. But we knew we had great pace, maybe not initially to fight for a win, but to get up to the front at least.

And initially, I would say, to fight the Mercedes, but they did a lovely job of, yeah, making our life a lot easier. So I didn't really need to think of that and could just focus on catching the guys that we were definitely quicker than, which was the Ferrari and the Astons.

And yeah, by the time we came through Turn 1, I felt like we could at least fight for the podium straightaway. So that was – yeah, from Lap one, a podium was on the cards and was my target. But the pace turned out to be probably better than I was expecting, you know, for us to be, at points in the race, probably a bit quicker than Max. Maybe at some points a bit slower. But I think on the whole, for us to finish P3 was as good as it could have been today. So I'm happy for the whole team, for Oscar, for everyone in McLaren, for us to [have] two cars on the podium again, for a third time, is fantastic.

Interviewer: We haven't heard you say "quicker than Max", really, at any point this year. Do you feel that you've been closer to him at this race than anywhere else we've been so far?

Lando: Yes. Yeah, probably. I think – I mean, I don't know how, you know, how much quicker Max could have gone in Qualifying. But (laughs) I guess if I wanna be honest with myself, you know, I should have fought for two Pole positions this weekend. And potentially two victories. I know it's a big thing to say, but I think if things went well, if I just did a better job and didn't make the mistakes I did over the last two days, which is why I've been so frustrated, because I knew what was on the cards, what we were able to potentially achieve. And that was victories, both yesterday and today.

So I feel like it was a weekend of missed opportunities for myself to take the fight to Max and at least give ourselves that opportunity. Yeah, so I don't know. There’s good things and bad things. I feel like I've missed out and didn't do what I should have done and achieved what I should have achieved. But I'm definitely still happy with a P3, you know? I can't take anything away from that. But in the back of my head, I know I should have done more this weekend.

Interviewer: And in your head, do you think it could have been a P2 had you not had the team orders?

Lando: (Laughs) I'm not sure. Like, whenever I got a bit closer towards Oscar, the dirty air was quite a big struggle. Like, as soon as, even with the backmarkers, you got within 3 seconds or something, you immediately lost time. Around a circuit where it's so much about load and these long corners, as soon as you have a bit of dirty air, it's a big struggle. So I think my pace was definitely a bit better, but it's hard to know. And I mean, Oscar has done a very good job all weekend. He's beaten me, he's been extremely quick, he’s made less mistakes, and he's come out on top. So hats off to him too.

Journalist Questions:

Question 1: A question to the two McLaren drivers, please. Lando has just said that he thinks he could have fought for a victory today. Did the mandated stint length and the tyre rules make that more likely or less likely?

Lando: Hmm, you should ask Max! (Laughs) Tough to say. I think, you know, the Red Bull is normally that step better in the race with degradation. I don't even feel like our degradation was bad today, you know? I feel like we could push, even towards the end of stints, I don't feel like we were suddenly struggling a lot. Maybe if it was a two-stopper and we had to eke out the tyres that bit more, that's where we would have seen the Red Bull just be more consistent. And like in Japan, that's where he was always a bit better was just that second part of the stint, was just keeping the consistency and we would drop off a bit.

So maybe we didn't see that today. Nevertheless, for the race today, it was very good. So, it shows that when we can keep the tyres in a good condition, we’re closer and we're getting closer to what we need. But we still know at certain tracks, you know, like, the last few weekends, we’ve not changed anything on the car. This weekend's been a lot better, but it's the same car as the last few weeks. So we still know we have a lot to do in the background.

Question 2: Logan retired because he was not feeling well. I think more drivers struggle towards the end of the race. Do you think F1 is pushing the limits with this race, in these conditions, with these cars, or maybe even going over the limit?

Lando: I think today we probably found the limit. I think it's sad we had to find it this way. It's never a nice situation to be in, you know? Some people are ending up in the medical centre or passing out, things like that. So, pretty dangerous thing to have going on. But it's not a point where you can just go, the drivers need to train more and do any of that, you know?

It's... we're in a closed car that gets extremely hot in a very physical race. And it's frustrating. (Smiling) I guess on TV, it probably doesn't look very physical at all. But clearly, when you have people who end up retiring or in such a bad state, it's too much, you know? For the speeds we're doing, it is too dangerous. So, I know that this race next year is later on in the season, and it will be a lot cooler a few months later, but it's something that needs to be thought of and I'm sure we'll speak about it because it, kind of, shouldn't have happened in the first place.

Question 3: As a follow up on this, Oscar you said this was the toughest one, but for Max and Lando, what was your toughest race in these circumstances? Because Max, you said this is certainly top 5, so I was wondering what was the most challenging one?

Lando: I crashed out of Miami so (laughs) I can't use that one. What would I say... I would say it's probably been the worst one. Maybe it's there and Singapore, definitely just the 2 worst ones. Singapore, a bit different, just because you need, like, more concentration and the race last year when it was wet, drying out, like, the humidity was insane. You needed probably even more concentration; this is just a different task 'cause you have a lot more high speed corners. Physically, your body's probably taking a bigger hit, but you don't have the walls and things like that. So it's a bit of a different challenge.

Probably for the first time ever, I've drunk from my bottle during a race (smiles). I actually wanted my engineer to remind me to drink; normally I never even use the drinks bottle. Today was probably the first time I actually wanted it and I had it.

Question 4 (Michael Hill): Obviously, to the McLaren drivers: with double podiums coming obviously in the last two Grand Prix, closing the gap in the points quite considerably now to Aston Martin and Ferrari, is now P3 in the championship a reality for you guys?

Lando: I don't know how far we are behind P3, so...

Hill: 79 points.

Lando: It’s not 69. (Max laughs) It's doable. (To Max) Why are you laughing? (Back to the question) I think so. A couple of races ago it was, what, 70-something to Aston. I don't know what it is now? 17? I mean, Fernando said we were overconfident as well (smiles). I think so, I think we're just doing a good job, you know, not just in terms of pace but today we had a 1.8 second pit stop which is pretty impressive from the guys. They've been working extremely hard, so to reward the whole team consistently is only more motivating and a bigger boost every weekend, you know?

They like the taste of success. It's the first time they're getting it consistently and I think that only makes them want it more and more and more every weekend that we're doing. So the guys are doing a great job, I think we’re both doing a decent job too, so we'll keep it up.

We know that Mercedes are very quick, probably as – almost as quick as us today, just, they keep making mistakes. So I'm sure if they have a clean weekend, they will maybe make our life a bit more tricky, and therefore I'm not as confident in saying it.

But, like I was comparing to Ferrari, it's only 3 weekends ago that Ferrari were close to… were on pole and almost winning races. And nothing has really changed, it's just a different track. We're looking better, they’re looking a bit worse, you know? So I think we're definitely not overconfident. We're confident, I think we need to be, but we know there's still gonna be some races where we're not gonna be quite as strong.

Yosuke and Teddrick Hanamura, I am going to miss you idiots.

I have written an entire post on the tragedy of Yosuke. He is, like Chie, very much a work in progress. You can look at the arc of his character like a lobbed ball and guess his eventual trajectory and landing. I hope for Yosuke, it will be a soft one. I fear instead he will bust an ankle on impact and cry about it, but he'll be okay.

Also someone please wife this man before he winds up married to some woman in the most agonizing comphet marriage of all time. Yosuke is a homosexual and by god he needs a boyfriend.

Character Accuracy to Their Arcana: ZEEEEEERO. He's a High Priestess.

aaaaaaaand this is the second time i cried playing P4G, the first being Kanji's Max SLink scene. Oh my god the tears.

This fucking character should be nothing by irritation. On paper, on script, Teddie is annoying and too much to handle and overbearing (ha). But like, Sam Riegel is the fucking all-star winner of the entire cast imo for making Teddie work. I have been continuously baffled by how much I adore this mascot bear, but his story was so genuinely moving and affecting, he's my second favorite character in the game. The fucking PATHOS.

I am so happy that Teddie made himself into a real boy. If he didn't, Nanako wouldn't have made it. The world is richer for his self-decided presence in it.

Love you Teddie.

Character Accuracy to Their Arcana: 12 out of 10, it's immaculate from start to finish.

I have such mixed emotions on Naoto.

Going into this game, Naoto was the character I feared the most. There is a lot of right-minded anger about how Naoto is handled by the game. As I said before, I tempered my expectations dramatically for playing.

Naoto disappointed me but not because the Gender Thing. With the clarity of hindsight and some context from a trusted source, I get what they were going for with Naoto. But while they were always a fucking gem in the MSQ and group scenes, Naoto's SLink was one of the weakest in the game. I think that at some point, the writers (or someone who had say over the writing, lbr) got gunshy around what they created with Naoto, and as soon as he joins the party, it feels like all the interesting parts of his set-up are shelved.

Which I don't know which I would prefer honestly? A solid attempt at dealing with Naoto And Gender that winds up being a huge fuckup, or this defanged version of a character arc, where all Naoto's potential is visible in the MSQ but just goes poof in every other scene.

That said, her fashion is INCREDIBLE and she gave us multiple incredible moments in the story. Walking out on the beauty pageant and still winning? King shit.

Character Accuracy to Their Arcana: Difficult to say since so much of Naoto's arc feels completely aborted. 4 out of 10 for what was actually on the screen canonically.

I don't have much to say for Yumi! Except in her final scene she sasses Reverie for running away from being her boyfriend, which is funny. ALSO SHE SAYS SHE'S GOING TO GO INTO POLITICS AND I LITERALLY SAID THAT WHEN WE FIRST MET, THAT SHE'D BE GREAT IN POLITICS? Holy shit what a called shot, go me.

But Yumi unfortunately innately suffers from being a Sun arcana after the shocking good and profound P3P Sun Slink. It was an impossible act to follow. She's fun tho! I liked her!

Character Accuracy to Their Arcana: eh. 3 out of 10. sorry.

God what a roller coaster of a pair.

Dojima was frankly a piece of shit for a LOT of this game, albeit a well-meaning one. The moment he sent Reverie after a crying Nanako rather than going himself really truly stressed my dedication to completing his SLink, I wanted to bail so badly. But his portrayal in the game is deeply sympathetic. The game is highly aware he's a fucking mess and a shit father, and it gives him space to become better. Which I like better than a hopeless case. It was real touch and go there for a while though.

Nanako really was the glue that held the plot together, wasn't she. It was kind of heavy-handed. Like, I didn't know what was going to happen to Nanako, but I did call very early that something was going to happen to her, to propel the plot. As this game's Justice Child, she's much weaker than Ken honestly and as much as it pains me to say, she should have been Temperance. There is very little judgement passed by her, there is no great clarity from her. She's a child, and she's wronged and neglected, and those things get better, but there is no recourse.

My last post was just simply about the fact that I don't get that people hate Max so much they want it to be shit for Charles. A guy that had nothing to do with last year. Who you also like otherwise you wouldn't be on my blog to comment on a post that has no obvious tags.

Why do you keep ignoring the fact that Max used ableist language and said racist slurs (even the ONU had to intervene), apologized in with a classic "I'm sorry you felt offended but I could care less", defended Piquet's use of the N-word when Brazilians themselves called him out because yes, the word is still derogatory in Portuguese, and no, people didn't "misunderstand", called his gf his best purchase, followed extreme right wing politicians on Twitter (and only unfollowed them when the N-word scandal started)?

There is complimenting and then there is blatantly lying about a third party to make a petty statement about someone else. Do I need to post the racing lines? The onboards? So that people see that the racing line that Charles took was tighter, that he left less space? All of this is easily available on the internet!

I also never denied that everything that happened didn't have an impact, just that that one singular statement wasn't trauma inflicted but rather an active choice to make.

Lewis plays the press and he is good at it. There is nothing wrong in saying it. And before I get accused of it I don't mean he is playing the press wrt the racism he faces or the abuse, but with on track incidences. And what he said about copse is in fact him playing the press. That's probably the most interesting thing to me. So you are a Charles fan, I assume seeing as you are on my blog, but got so worked up over a post where I said that I don't understand why people hate Max so much that they want this situation to be toxic for Charles.

Do you think Max is stood next to him in interviews holding a gun to his head? How to you explain that to yourself? Maybe Charles just enjoys driving and fighting like that too.

I am an adult with real life experience. And I know that ranting on the internet especially on a site like Tumblr as an anonymous person has zero real world impact. Instead of ranting and accusing others of things in their inbox I actually try to have an IRL impact. And I do my part offline. Performative activism on the internet is nothing other than performative activism. And if it makes you feel better about yourself then let's go you, but I'd rather have an actual impact for and on the people around me.

At the moment I don't even care for Max outside of his driving and his fight with Charles. But I am a younger sister and above all a petty af bitch and the more you keep coming into my inbox with things like this accusing me of things you've made up the more I'm gonna end up liking Max just out of spite.

One thing I will say is, even though I liked s4 Stancy moments, I'm not a big fan of Eddie and Robin trying to prop up Stancy with lines like "rekindling of old flames" and "unequivocal sign of true love" ...not just because of show, don't tell but because the lines are clunky and awkward. The characters can make observations... but they feel a little too on-the-nose. Because Eddie and Robin don't really know about Stancy.

Eddie doesn't realize that Nancy would jump in after a number of other people. Including Jonathan.

And Robin doesn't know if Stancy should have been snuffed out or not.

It's just as bad when Murray meets Jonathan and Nancy and tells her she doesn't love Steve and should choose Jonathan.

Rather than these outsiders making Murray-like commentary on a relationship, I'd rather see them inquire into what happened to Stancy so that we can see Steve and Nancy vocalize their thoughts.

Okay, I'm still upset with season 4 and like it only gets worse as I think about it more lmao. Rant below

The more I hear about how the Duffers wrote Eddie the more I feel there was a lot (maybe unintentional??) ableism thrown in there. I was really, truly dreading the idea that even ONE of the reasons they killed him off was that he didn't have a future. Because let's just check the kind of character he is.

Low income/Impoverished.

Struggles academically.

Highly ND-coded. I'll die on this hill. I'm ND.

Queer-coded. Dying on this hill, too.

Widely ostracized by the majority of the Hawkins community.

I guess they looked at all these things and went "Oh yeah, this guy's life is fucked" and decided the best fate for him was to die a "hero" for a town that STILL OSTRACIZED HIM. Like, poor people can't have happy endings.

I mean, just look at all the characters who are doing best right now. Every one of them come from wealthy households. Max is now impoverished and she's in a coma. Probably going to die in season 5 because why else would she write all those letters. OBVIOUSLY her mom had to become an alcoholic, too. Obviously. I mean, how else would a woman respond to her abusive husband leaving her? Obviously Max witnessing Billy being brutally murdered in front of her on top of her guilt from hating him over the fact he was an abusive asshole wasn't enough. We have to throw in a neglectful mom, too.

Anyway, renaming this show Normative Things because that's all they've got going on at this point.

ALSO, you know what, while I'm here, HOPPER SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN TAKEN BY THE RUSSIANS.

Why the actual fuck didn't they kill him?!?!? There is NO good reason for them to keep him alive! He had no information they wanted. They knew how to make portals. He was just a liability that they sent to some labor camp. He should have been killed by the Russians.

OR.

Better yet.

He shouldn't have been taken by the Russians at all. He should have fallen into the Upside-Down.

In the Upside-Down, he could have learned about the way time was frozen at 1983. He also could have survived eight months there because the Duffers forgot about the toxic air anyway so who cares lmao. We can even shorten the time between season 3 and 4 because it never made sense to me why Creel waited so long to start killing targets. Like, El was gone for eight months, he could have started at ANY time afaik.

And then Creel can give his message to El through someone other than Nancy - because it never made sense that he used Nancy, seeing as El and Nancy pretty much never interacted. It would have made more sense for him to use Max or something - and then Eddie could have NOT died because he was a breath of fresh air.

Hello! First of all, stellar writing in Unexpected as usual! I could really feel Daeun's nervousness throughout but the slow confidence that was coming with being desired was also so nice to see. It's a typical first time experience - and I do think Tae was really really good about it overall and really made her comfortable so as a Da-eun fan that makes me really happy.

You did manage to bring in just a tinge of uneasiness at the end though - but cleverly, it's just for the reader and not as much for Da-eun. For starters, I don't know if I should be reading too much into the fact that Tae didn't really help finish her off at the end, even though you've made it clear that she's a person who just finds it difficult to orgasm. Still, given that it was her first time and all, I guess it's still sticking out to me after reading that he neither asked not tried to help her finish as well. Maybe this will happen at a later point?

Secondly - and I think Da-eun picked up on this too, but quite vaguely - I have a slight feeling that them having sex was somewhat/kind of/sort of related to whatever TaexCass interaction took place just prior to this incident? Like I'm absolutely sure he actually missed her and it's clear he genuinely desires her as well, but there's an aspect of his desire to be with Da-eun that seems to be less about her and more about his own loneliness and I don't know if meeting Cass and Max exacerbates that feeling at all. It feels like a quiet sort of heartbreak that I think Da-eun is perceptive enough to pick up on, and all I can say is kudos for being able to bring out such a subtle and nuanced feeling so well.

I'm cautiously optimistic for them but I guess until Tae and Cass see some kind of closure regarding their relationship, it will always be an open door.

I won't say too much about what you mentioned re Da-eun and Cass. I think readers already know our stance on this. I think we try to say everything in the fics, and if not in this one alone, in the collective fics...I don't think we deliberately try to be sneaky. But then again maybe everything seems obvious to us just because we've known what is going on for so so long. There's definitely a lot to say in this one. Taehyung's actions and behaviour speaks for itself, whatever that shows. And what's really fun is that it actually seems to mean different things to different readers. I do think he'll (at least try) to make her orgasm in future. As you say she finds it hard, and it's quite novel to him to be with someone like that.

I don't think any huge groundbreaking exchange happened with Cass and Max before this fic, but you are right in there was a conversation. He had been to their house. She'd loaned him a book on Bruegel. The rest can be imagined I guess :D

Also, thank you for being so sweet about our works. This really means so much and we are glad you enjoyed it.

But on the subject, I am so confused about where I stand on this. Like, I want him to win so bad because my boy deserves it, but like... there has been no conflict this season aside from Bea who vanished a while ago, so losing would hit hard. And serve as a nice segway into SV anime. I want him to win, it would be epic as all hell, but also the angst of losing? Is there no way to have both? Serena is about to enter a new contest, dress and all, but stopped to watch the match on the TV of the hall and was called for it shortly after it ended- despite her best attends to smile, she knew she couldn't bring her 100% that day. Back in the stadium, with Goh in tears, Hop is looking at the stadium, pussled, Goh tries to be polite and congrats him for his brother victory but "He....doesn't look too happy about it" and he is not.

Not So Empty Nest (Super Sim Update)

With the revelation that the 3-level part-time careers don't count as "careers" for the children/grandchildren requirement of Stella's Successful Lineage aspiration, I figured the only way I'm getting one of the kids to the top of their career is if they move back in with the parents. Originally, I said I was going to do this with Cade, but when I loaded into the Bailey-Moon household to have Kinsley quit her job (because, c'mon, how embarrassing would it be for the wife of a B-lister to (a) work (b) as a barista?), I realized it made more sense - from a story prospective - for her to be the one to move home:

Kinsley and Orange had a very high romance bar, but their friendship bar really wasn't that high - I'm guessing it was probably at whatever the minimum is to propose/get married. Kinsley was also only 8 days into being a Young Adult, and already has an infant; I don't remember Orange's exact number of days, but I think he was pretty close to half-way through already. So I imagine: Kinsley, as a teen, is infatuated with the celebrity teen who happens to be friends with her older brother; they get together on a whim, because Kinsley is from a good (wealthy), drama-free family and would be a good mom... they get married like the second she becomes an adult, and immediately have the next generation of Bailey-Moon nepo baby. But Orange, at this point, has probably outgrown the fascination with impressing a young girl, who he doesn't even really know (low friendship bar), and who is having her own struggle with not really knowing how to be a mom, especially in a family like the Bailey-Moons. The perfect recipe for disaster and divorce, leading to Kinsley moving back home, without Preston (because (a) I'm not doing that and (b) you know the Bailey-Moons would go to whatever lengths to protect/control their heir. That doesn't mean we won't see him in the future, though).

She's gonna miss that view, though.

I like to think that her poor experience isn't going to waste, though -- I put her in the Public Relations branch of the Social Media career (because she has no desire for fame or celebrity herself as an Internet Personality, after what she's been through - plus, you know the Bailey-Moons probably made her sign a nondisclosure agreement). She was able to start at level 3, and I think she's up to level 5 already. So she should max it out in no time.

Ever heard the (actually terrible) advice, "the best way to get over someone is to get under someone else"? Well, Kinsley has:

Not likely, although Kyle did autonomously propose (sort of - it was a "found a ring in Kyle's bag" pop-up, which is super weird considering Kinsley lives in my household too), so I guess he's all in... or he sees this as a way to secure a really good (lucrative) future for himself. Poor Kinsley - her dad set an impossible standard for her to find a good man. (Although, we can't forget that Dexter was married to Jane when he met/started dating/proposed to Stella, so he's not so perfect.)

Now, an update on the actual Super Sim - grandchild #4 has arrived, and Stella has completed the Big Happy Family aspiration!

Anyway, I haven't accomplished much else with Stella. The Spa Day aspirations are hard! I did finish the Zen Guru one, but the other two are going to take forever... earning 5,000 simoleons when half the time the yoga/meditation class glitches and I can't even get her tend a massage table/chair. Ugh. I have a feeling I might end up cheating them done, just to be done with them because it's going to be so repetitive.
