•~• Some Basic Pumpkin Magic •~•
Even though July isn’t even over yet and autumn is not as near as I would like it to be, I wanted to talk about one of my favorite things in the world - pumpkins! I always love when these bad boys come around in the autumn, so to be prepared for the coming autumn months, I thought I’d make a little summary of some pumpkin associations and magic!
Colors
When we think of pumpkins, we tend to think of the color orange, which is associated with attraction, creativity, and new opportunities. But pumpkins can also be found in other colors, such as green, yellow, and white! If you want the general associations of a pumpkin but want to use a different kind of color magic, maybe look into the less iconic but still wonderful varieties of pumpkins.
Pumpkin Associations and Uses
Pumpkins are often associated with abundance and prosperity due to their large size and many, many, seeds. The seeds are also a feature that promotes new life and expansion. Pumpkins also tend to last long periods of time when not disturbed, so the expansion aspect of the seeds can be longer-term as the pumpkin itself can last longer.
Pumpkins are also ruled by the moon and their element is water. Doing spells and rituals regarding the moon and/or water can be amplified by the pumpkin’s natural associations with these things.
Pumpkins are also used to ward off evil and for spirit protection. Carving them into faces is a common tradition and they became used in what we know as a jack-o-lantern as a replacement for the traditional turnip. If you want to double up on the protection aspect, carve a sigil, rune, or other protective symbol into the pumpkin instead of a face.
Which also leads me to the time of year that these are around. Pumpkins are an autumnal plant and are heavily associated with harvest festivals and spiritual festivals. The most well known would be Mabon and Samhain, with our modern day Halloween coming from Samhain, thus the jack-o-lanterns at this time of year outside of the magical community.
Other Magical Uses
Aside from the jack-o-lantern spells, the most obvious and my personal favorite way to use pumpkins is kitchen magic. I have sweet pumpkin tea that I stir clockwise to attract abundance and prosperity. You can also use them in baking, such as a pumpkin pie, or regular cooking, such as pumpkin soups and stews. They work really well with spices. If you’re working on spiritual protection with the pumpkin, using cinnamon to enhance the protection properties. Also cinnamon and pumpkin is one of my all time favorite flavor combinations so it also tastes amazing!
The pumpkin’s physical characteristics can also be used in spells. Carve out your pumpkin and use it as a bowl or container for your spellwork.
And last on this post but definitely not the last way to use it is the drying of its seeds and using the seeds throughout your magical year. As mentioned, these seeds are great for new beginnings, and as they are connected to a moon associated plant, new moon spells and rituals of attracting abundance and new beginnings work really well when adding some pumpkin seeds.
I hope y’all found this helpful and let me know if you want basic breakdown of anything else!

Harvest Moon
Author’s note: hi it’s been a minute!!! Here we are starting our Halloween szn series eeeekkk!!! I meant to post this last week but I got caught up. My plan is to post the next two on Fridays and the final one on Halloween. Anywhoooo this was my first crack with a Josh fic so I hope you love it!! Click here for the vibes :)
Pairing: Josh x reader
Warnings: cursing, sexual content, minors DNI
Word count: 2.8k
It was a particularly yucky day outside. It was overcast, windy, chilly, and a light drizzle fell from the sky. Definitely not the weather you had anticipated when you suggested a pumpkin patch date with your boyfriend. You had been so excited to go, take pictures, choose pumpkins, drink cider, and enjoy the day with your favorite person. But the weather had quite literally put a damper on things. Maybe it’s because it was your first fall together or maybe it’s because you had felt extremely sentimental, either way you wanted this day to go perfectly. You and Josh had been together for around 10 months now after a drunken hookup at a New Year’s party blossomed into something beautiful. Almost out of a fairy tale. You struggled to put it into words, but it just felt like he had completed you. You felt whole when he was with you. Which is why you tried to remain optimistic about this day despite the goddamn weather. You adored fall, and all year long you looked forward to having someone to share these activities with. Josh had even made sure to schedule his band’s tour around your fall calendar. That melted your heart into a million pieces.
You sat now by the window staring out into the gloom fidgeting with the frays on your cream cable knit sweater. You wondered if you should change your outfit to dress more appropriately given the circumstances. With your chunky sweater you wore a brown corduroy skirt with sheer black tights and brown chelsea boots. Josh always joked when you wore them that they looked like they were straight out of Jake’s closet.
You saw headlights flash in your driveway and you jolted up with excitement and fled to your door. When you opened the door he was walking towards you with a perfect smile and flowers in hand. He looked so handsome. Light khaki pants, white high top vans, and a white sweatshirt with the sleeves rolled up. He sported a triangular necklace and his hair was perfectly unkempt.
“Hi beautiful. How are you?” He asked, as he pulled you into a tight hug.
“Better now.” You gushed, taking in his scent of patchouli and teakwood.
“Got these for you.” He said with a bright grin as he handed you the orange daisies.
You smiled and accepted them. “So romantic! Let me put these in water and we can go.”
You walked back into your kitchen and found a cream colored vase under your island. You filled it halfway with water and plunged the stems in, Josh had already pre-cut them. He was exceptionally thoughtful like that.
“Ready?” You asked with excitement.
“Let’s go.” Josh said, reaching out his hand for you.
You climbed into his Jeep and he shut the door behind you. You clicked your seatbelt as Josh flickered with his phone before entering the car. The engine whirred to life as he smiled and placed his hand on your thigh. Josh hummed Neil Young softly in the background. You glanced over and studied his features. He was so pretty. So soft. Your Josh.
About ten minutes into the drive you realized that Josh wasn’t going the direction he needed to get to the farm you had said you were going to. You furrowed your browns and glanced over at his silent GPS. Forty five minutes away? That seemed impossible. The farm you had discussed was only 19 minutes from your house.
“Where are we going?” You asked.
Josh looked over at you and gave you a lazy smile before shifting his eyes back on the road. “The pumpkin patch.”
You cocked your head to the side. “This isn’t the way to Abbott Farms.”
His eyes stayed on the road but he lightly gave your thigh a squeeze. “Nope.”
You made a face, but before you could speak he continued.
“We are going to a different farm, somewhere where the weather will be nicer. I checked the radar the past few days, so I’ve been planning for alternate farms all around here based upon the weather. We are traveling southeast and the bad weather is going more northwest. We should be clear. I know how excited you are for today, so I figure the least I could do was drive you into some better weather.”
You were floored and your heart swelled with love and adoration. That was Josh. The most kind, thoughtful, always planning two steps ahead. Your Josh.
“That’s very thoughtful Mr. Kiszka. How’d I get so lucky?”
He let out a laugh. “I don’t know how you landed such a catch. By the way there are some snacks in the back if you want some. I packed them for the longer car ride. Your favorite m&ms are somewhere.”
You let out a laugh. “Josh! You’re the best. Thank you.”
He grabs your hand with the hand that’s been on your thigh and laces his fingers with yours. “You’re welcome my dear. I love you.”
**
“I like this one!” You yelled to Josh as he jogged to keep up with you.
You had just set your sights on the perfect pumpkin. It was large, round, and was the prettiest shade of orange. You and Josh had arrived at the pumpkin patch nearly an hour ago. First he took you through the corn maze, which you had both figured out rather quickly. Then you got warm apple cider before your mini photoshoot together. Josh never complained once about the hundreds of photos you made him take with you or of you.
“So this one is it huh?” Josh asked, staring down at you with your pumpkin. His hands were on his hips and he was slightly out of breath from jogging uphill.
“Mhm.” You said, giving your new prized possession a rub.
“And you’re sure this pumpkin is better than any pumpkin down that giant ass hill?” He asked, in a joking tone.
“This is the one.” You assured. “And the hill is not that giant.”
He sighed and gave you a smile. “Then we shall have it.” He grabbed the rather large pumpkin and threw it on his shoulder as you both headed back down the hill. Eventually, he would get a cart as you saw the gourds in boxes. By the time you had left you had acquired three large pumpkins, 2 smaller ones, and a plethora of gourds. You were beyond satisfied with your haul. Now it was time to go back to your house and carve them.
Josh loaded up his jeep and began the drive back to your house. It had been quite a blissful way to spend two hours. Josh slightly cracked the windows and blasted the heat so you two could admire the foliage. He truly made you swoon.
When you returned to your house Josh carried in your pumpkins while you lit fall candles and changed into more comfortable clothes. Josh had brought over his “spending the night” bag and changed as well. You wore a pair of fuzzy brown joggers with a white cropped tank. You put on a pair of socks that had little pumpkins all over them. Josh had gone with cream colored sweatpants and a black t-shirt. No shoes of course. You both settled down in your living room, an array of carving tools at your use, both pumpkins plopped down on top of trash bags. There was a black and white horror film that Josh had chosen just beginning. It was one of the many Frankenstein movies. He was such a film geek and you loved that. Your Josh.
“Okay pumpkin. What are you carving on your pumpkin?” Josh asks, giving you a particularly bright smile.
“A scary face I think. Jagged teeth all the way. What are you planning? Something elaborate?”
“Spooky. And no nothing elaborate. Probably a happy face. Everyone loves a happy pumpkin.” He says, reaching up and giving your cheek a pinch.
“Don’t forget to save the best guts! Our homemade pumpkin pie will be what dreams are made of.” You remind him.
“Got it.” Josh says, reaching over for the big knife.
He stabs into his pumpkin and pops off the top. Then he helps you get your knife into your pumpkin, safely. You two spent around 30 minutes de-gutting and carving your pumpkins. It was a surprise reveal type of situation. You had both turned your pumpkins away from one another, sitting in near silence as you both focused on your craft. You had given your pumpkin a set of triangular eyes, a small triangle nose, and a sharp set of gnarly teeth. You left a bit of the flesh out of your pumpkin to give it the appearance that it had just eaten something. You smiled at your creation, satisfied with your work.
“Almost done slowpoke?” You asked Josh, who had a look of sheer concentration masked on his face.
His expression broke and a small smile appeared. “Slowpoke? You can’t rush art baby.”
“Then how do you write songs in less than one day?”
He lets out a chuckle. “I plead the fifth. Anywho yeah yeah I’m done. This is going to blow you away.”
“Ready?” You ask, he nods.
“1…2…3…!”
You both reveal your pumpkins to one another. Josh had created, possibly the cutest pumpkin you had laid eyes on. It had round eyes with small triangles remaining as pupils, a heart nose, and a cute toothy smile.
You giggled at his pumpkin. “Josh! It’s so cute!”
He stifles a laugh. “And yours is horrifying!”
“Thank you.” You reply back with a smirk.
“Okay I’ll clean, light these guys up, and stick them on the porch. You wanna start your pie and I’ll meet you in there?” Josh asks.
You nod and get up grabbing the bowl of pumpkin guts. Josh had already picked out all of the seeds. Thoughtful.
You went through the bowl and pulled out the best chunks, putting them in your food processor to make a purée. Then you gathered the rest of the ingredients you would need. You had already pre-made the crust, so you dusted flour around your island to knead it a bit and press it in the pan. Once the crust was pressed you started to bake it slightly before putting your filling in. Josh returned to the kitchen and began to help. He was actually really good at baking. You two were always baking something together, it was a bonding time between the two of you.
“I think we should add some more nutmeg than the recipe calls for. It will give it that extra pow!”
You let out a laugh. “More nutmeg? Someone’s feeling a bit wild right now.”
“Oooh call me a rebel baby.” Josh said, in a buttery velvet voice as he approached you and planted a rather wet kiss to your lips. He reached behind you and grabbed the nutmeg, returning to the batter.
He dashed some more in and gave it a nice big stir. You grabbed the crust out of the oven so it didn’t overbake.
“Wanna try?” Josh asked, scooping some batter onto his index finger.
You nodded and opened your mouth. You made eye contact and sucked on his finger for just a second longer than necessary.
A smirk appeared on his face. “So naughty.”
“Extra nutmeg was a good call.” You said, innocently.
You grabbed the batter and began to pour it into the crust. Once the bowl was essentially empty, you sprinkled the pie with extra cinnamon and threw it in the oven.
You turned around to see Josh eyeing you. You knew what he was thinking.
Still, you pretended to be oblivious, and started to throw the dishes in the sink and clean up the island. Josh grabbed the batter bowl and slinked around to you.
“You got something right there.”
You slightly furrowed your brows. “Where?”
He stepped close to you, incredibly close.
“Here.” He said, obviously wiping batter onto your neck.
“Josh!” You said with a surprised laugh.
“So messy.” He said as he clicked his tongue. “What ever am I going to do with you?”
“Whatever you want.” You said faltering, voice just above a whisper.
He leaned in and licked a stripe up your neck, getting all of the batter off. He didn’t stop once it was gone, giving you a small bite on the most tender of flesh.
You leaned your head back and let out an exhale and his hands met your hips. He kissed up your neck until he met your lips, his tongue already eager for yours. You reached up and wrapped your hands into his hair, giving a few gentle tugs. That always drove him crazy. He groaned into your mouth and pressed his body into yours, his hands touching everything he could. Then, in a swift motion he gave your ass a nice squeeze and lifted you up onto the island. He stood in between your legs and began to kiss down your neck. You shuddered with anticipation and butterflies circled throughout your belly. He nipped at your collarbone while his hand found the swell of one of your breasts. He slowly pulled your top down before continuing his descent. His tongue rolled over your nipple as he began to suck and bite. Your head fell back and you were fighting to keep your eyes open as the sensations overtook your body. One of his hands met your hip and you were about to start begging. Luckily, he was working rather quickly as he slid your pants down leaving you just in your panties. His warm hands traveled all around your thighs as his mouth met yours again. When your lips disconnected, he made eye contact with you before sinking to the floor on his knees. He grabbed the back of your thighs and threw them over his shoulders, pulling your body closer to him. He started to lightly kiss the inside of your thighs. You threw your hands back to brace yourself, still wanting to sit up just the slightest to get to see some of the show. His tongue licked up over your clothed center and you let out a soft moan.
That’s one thing that always got Josh going. Your sounds. He loved being cheered on, call it a frontman thing.
He hooked his fingers under your panties and yanked them down, leaving you bare in front of him.
“So perfect.” He growled as he connected his lips to your center.
You let out shuddering breaths trying to breath through the ride you were currently taking on his face. Josh continued to send you over the edge as he added two fingers into you, dipping first then taking the plunge.
“Josh…” You whined lowly.
He briefly disconnected his face from you, replacing his tongue with his caressing thumb.
“C’mon baby I know you’re almost there. Be a good girl and give it to me.”
His encouragement and tongue back in that certain spot was enough to send you over the edge as you threw your head back and gave into pure bliss. Josh dug his fingers into your flesh as you ground yourself further and further until you swore you saw stars. You were a mess as you tried to come back to your senses. Josh always made you feel like you were in a sensory deprivation tank when he was done with you. The only thing that made you come back to Earth was a timer dinging.
Fuck. You thought. How long had Josh had you on this counter? The second ding is what really brought you back to life as Josh continued to slowly kiss your thighs to ease you back.
You took a deep breath to collect yourself. “The pie’s done.” You said, reaching down and wiping your slick off of his face. “Hopefully you haven’t ruined your appetite.”
He grins at you. “My appetite? Darling I’m insatiable, particularly for you. But, I’ve just had the sweetest thing known to man, not sure if the pie will compare.”
You giggle at his antics. “Wanna continue this later?”
He starts to get up and leans over and plants a kiss on your lips. “Yes ma’am. Let’s see how this pie looks.”
He helps you down off the counter and pulls your pants back around your waist, giving your ass a squeeze.
You clean up a little, then grab your oven mitts so you can get your pie out to cool. Josh opens the window above the sink as you sit it on the windowsill.
“Smells good. You’re so talented.” He said as he wrapped you into a hug from behind, pressing his lips to your temple.
He was so kind, so supportive, so gentle, so sweet. He got you in a way that no one else could even begin to. He was the flame that lit your soul. Ignited you. Preserved you. Saved you. That was him.
Your Josh.

👻Halloween Shopping 👻
A cute and silly Halloween themed drabble for @postwarlevi's Under A Harvest Moon Collab
Levi x reader, no warnings... maybe a part two eventually
Tumblr media
“Smell this,” you playfully command, holding out a candle towards Levi.
Without even looking up, Levi follows your request, tilting his head to the side and distractedly sniffing from the candle you’ve presented to him. It makes you smile, a warm feeling fluttering in your chest at just how readily he trusts your judgment.
He grunts, his face twisting up in a mix of disgust and confusion. It reminds you of the face one of your cats makes whenever he sniffs one of Levi’s cleaning sprays. “What the fuck is that supposed to smell like?”
Twisting the glass jar around, you show him the label with a toothy grin. “Misty Graveyard, apparently.” You take another whiff of the orange wax, wrinkling your nose in contemplation. “I don’t know if I like it. What do you think?”
“I think it smells like rotting leaves,” Levi replies, his tone unamused as he glances at the colorful rows of candles surrounding you. “Why are there so many, anyway?”
“Because normal people love Halloween,” you reply with a smirk. You lean in slightly, holding the next candle up. It’s off-white, almost eggshell in color, with sparkly bits of glitter mixed in. Lifting it to your nose, the scent of sugary sweetness overwhelms your senses, carrying you to memories of childhood candy and festive treats.
“Normal, right.” Levi rolls his eyes, but there’s a hint of amusement in his tone. “Does that one have fucking glitter in it?”
“Yeah!” you exclaim, chuckling. “Here,” you offer this candle to him next, and he smells it without a bit of hesitation. His brows furrow as he inhales, and you can see him processing the aroma.
His face twists up in thought. “Smells burnt. Reminds me of when you tried to bake those brownies.”
You playfully nudge his arm with yours. “Hey! I just forgot about them!” Grinning, you defend your baking mishap. “They still tasted fine…”
Levi lets out a short laugh, shaking his head. “No. They did not. Everyone just gave them to Sasha when you weren’t looking.”
“Awe…” you respond, feigning disappointment. “Well, at least they went to a good cause.”
“What’s it supposed to smell like anyways?” Levi asks, his curiosity evident as he eyes the array of candles.
You turn the label towards him, the corner of your lips twitching into a playful smile. “Ghastly Ghoul? It says it’s supposed to smell like a marshmallow.”
Levi scrunches his nose in mock disgust. “Definitely not that one. You know my thoughts on glitter.”
You chuckle, remembering the time he had humorously referred to glitter as the physical manifestation of herpes. “Well, we have to pick one!”
“Do we?” he counters, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“Come on! This is our first Halloween with our own house! We have to celebrate!” you insist, your enthusiasm infectious.
He bobs his head in response, his resistance softening. “Fine, but can we at least pick a more normal one?” From the shelf, he selects a cool grey candle, tilting it in your direction for inspection. “How about this one? It’s supposed to be Cashmere and cedar.”
“Cozy Autumn,” you read, leaning down for a sniff. A woodsy, rich scent floods your senses, carrying with it the essence of crackling fires and rustling leaves. You take a deliberate whiff of the candle, nodding in approval as the soothing aroma envelops your senses. “Oh, I like that. It’s cozy and not too overpowering. Though, It doesn’t exactly scream Halloween.”
“Well, we’re not getting any of the Candy or Pumpkin ones.” Levi grimaces, a hint of playful exasperation in his voice. “I’m already getting a headache just standing here.”
“Okay, Mr. Picky,” you reply teasingly, giving him a gentle nudge before taking the candle and placing it in your cart. As you do, a surge of excitement ripples through you, the anticipation of the upcoming Halloween gathering growing stronger. You can already picture the warm and inviting scent of the candle permeating your home, creating an ambiance that’s perfect for celebrating the season together.
Leading him into the next aisle, you eye the shelves filled with spooky skeletons and goofy animatronic spiders. “What about decorations? Do you want to do a theme?”
Sighing dramatically, Levi drags his feet as he follows behind you, his reluctance evident. “It’s just shit that’ll sit in a plastic bin in the attic for 11 months out of the year. What’s the point?”
You smile, wrapping your hand around his arm to tug him forward towards a wall of lawn decorations. “Oh, now I can't wait for December. We're definitely getting plastic reindeer for the yard. And lights. So many lights.”
With a huff, Levi raises an eyebrow, looking intrigued despite himself. “Why are you so excited, anyways?”
“This is our first year with a house! We're going to have trick-or-treaters! I've never gotten to hand out candy before!” Your enthusiasm is palpable as you share your excitement with him. “All the little kids in the neighborhood are going to come up to our door! I want it to be fun and exciting for them, ya know? It was always nice seeing houses that went all out when I was little. Ooh, we should carve pumpkins too!”
Levi lets out a soft chuckle, his resistance melting in the face of your enthusiasm. “Fine, but we aren't getting any of the fake spider web stuff. I've heard that it kills birds.”
You nod thoughtfully. “Hmm, that's a good point. How about we go for something a little different, like a little graveyard theme? With tombstones and skeletons? Maybe even a smoke machine for added effect?” With a twinkle in your eye, you grab a large stack of the fake tombstones along with a severed arm decoration.
Levi shakes his head in amusement, clearly caught up in your energy. “You're really going all in, huh?”
“Absolutely!” you declare with a grin, reveling in the prospect of creating a memorable Halloween experience for the neighborhood kids and embracing the joys of your first year in your own house. “Oooh we should get a big bag of candy too while we're here! The big-ass chocolate bars! I want to be that house.”
“The dentist down the road is going to hate us,” Levi snorts, eyes sparkling at your enthusiasm.
“Or love us,” you reply with a smirk. As you continue to explore the decorations aisle, your excitement is contagious, drawing Levi into the plans and turning what was once a simple shopping trip into an adventure filled with anticipation and shared enthusiasm.
More and more decorations join the pile in the cart, Levi even adding a few himself, to the point that it starts to get heavy, and Levi wordlessly takes over pushing it, his silent gesture of chivalry not escaping your notice. Hanging ghosts for the tree in the front yard, a giant fuzzy spider to hang in the front window, a big spooky electronic grim reaper. You have to fight smiling as Levi quietly adds a skeleton hand-sanitizer hip-clip and a spooky ghost cat mug to the pile.
“This all sounds like a lot of work..” Stopping mid-sentence, Levi scowls up at the rack of larger decorations. “Why the fuck is there a twelve-foot-tall skeleton?”
“Why not?” You add the towering skeleton to your cart, laughing lightly at the way its legs hang awkwardly over the edge. “I bet we could scare the shit out of Hange by stuffing it in a closet.”
“They’d just want to borrow it for something,” Levi grumbles, but there’s a hint of amusement in his tone. The comment makes you chuckle, knowing that his coworker often pulls little pranks on him.
“Oh, did you want to do costumes too? Maybe something to match the graveyard?” you ask, your eyes lighting up with anticipation.
“Costumes to hand out candy?” Levi raises an eyebrow, clearly considering the idea. “Fine. Just pick something. Nothing with fake blood though, I hate that shit.”
You let out an excited giggle, delighted by his willingness to participate. “You’re giving me way too much leeway there,” you tease, already envisioning the possibilities for your Halloween costumes. In the back of your head, you start to make plans to come back on your own and pick up a matching pair of costumes to surprise (and horrify) him with.
As the cart begins to overflow, Levi playfully elbows you to get your attention, a hint of amusement in his eyes. “You know we aren’t here for this, right?” he remarks, his tone light.
“We aren’t?” you turn to him in surprise, your eyebrows lifting in curiosity. “Then why did you lead me to the Halloween section?”
He jerks his head to the side, pointing his chin towards the end of the aisle. “To get a birthday gift for Erwin.”
“What? A skeleton dog?” Your laughter bubbles up, and you can’t resist grabbing a decorative item from the shelf and holding it towards Levi with an exaggerated grin. Its jaw clacks open and closed in response, a quirky feature that makes it both amusing and slightly eerie. “Isn’t it cute?”
Levi shakes his head, his lips quirking into a small smile. “A Halloween Hello-Kitty Squishmallow. They’re getting released today. I think this year’s is a vampire one.”
You burst into laughter at his unexpected choice. “Seriously? Alright, but you do realize those things sell like crazy, right? I think I heard about people fist-fighting over them because of their resale value.”
Levi raises an eyebrow, clearly unfazed. “I know. That’s why I’m here now, before the chaos starts. Erwin’s always wanted one, he’s gone on and on about it several times.”
“Fair enough.” You push the cart along with a playful grin. “Shopping first thing in the morning isn’t too unusual for you though… Decorations and a birthday gift – Two birds, one stone. I don’t see any Squishmallows though?”
“Connie said that they’re bringing the pallet out-” Levi pulls out his phone to check the time “- in about 10 minutes.”
“Connie works here now?” you ask in surprise.
“Part-time. Shit, other people must’ve heard about the release.” Just as he says that, you notice a growing crowd of anxious shoppers gathering around the main aisle.
As you both watch, the anticipation in the air is palpable. You exchange a glance with Levi, and without a word, you decide to position yourselves at the edge of the crowd, ready to grab the coveted Squishmallow as soon as it’s available. “Ready to fight if you are,” you smirk at him.
Levi chuckles, a hint of amusement in his eyes. “Oh, I’m ready. But let’s hope it doesn’t come to that. It’d be a pain in the ass to get blood out of this shirt.”
The moment you hear the pallet pulling around the corner, the metal jack rattling loudly, the entire crowd tenses. It's as if you're in the midst of a group of wild animals, their excitement palpable as they rev up and prepare to pounce on their coveted prey. Adrenaline roars loudly in your ears as you feel yourself tense up, mirroring their fervor.
What follows is nothing short of utter chaos. People scream, scramble forward, and claw at each other before the pallet can even be properly positioned. It's like a scene straight out of a zombie movie, with a bunch of wild-eyed 30-something-year-old women mindlessly elbowing each other and spewing insults in their relentless pursuit. By the time you manage to reach the pallet, it's almost empty, with nothing but a handful of plush ghost-strawberries left at the bottom of the box.
Empty-handed, you scan the crowd, your eyes darting around in search of Levi amidst the turmoil. It's a challenge given his shorter stature compared to the rest of the crowd. It isn't until most of the people have dispersed - one woman triumphantly holding a whole armful of plushies - that you finally spot him. He stands empty-handed. “Fuck, you didn't have any luck either?”
He shakes his head, his shoulders slumping in defeat. “That was fucking insane. One of those hags even elbowed me in the chin.”
You notice a pink mark forming along his jawline. “Was it the one that grabbed like 20 of them? I bet she's just going to sell them. Maybe you can find one online?”
“For at least $1000,” Levi sighs, his frustration evident. “I guess I'll just have to-”
A quiet hiss interrupts Levi, coming from around the corner and stopping him mid-sentence. “Psst, hey! Over here!”
“Connie?” you exclaim in surprise as you spot him tucked around the far corner of the store, holding something behind his back. You can’t help but smile as you take in his appearance. “That vest looks good on you. Oh! Are you growing out your hair?”
Connie blushes shyly, reaching up a hand to awkwardly scratch his hair. “Yeah, I’m planning on trying to dye it, so I needed to grow it out a bit. Jean and Sasha have been calling me Fuzz-Ball though.”
“Dye it? What color?” you ask, genuinely intrigued.
“Silver,” he replies eagerly, his eyes lighting up at the thought.
Just as you’re about to continue the conversation, Levi interrupts, his tone carrying a hint of his trademark bluntness. “Shouldn’t you be working, Connie?”
Connie grins mischievously, not missing a beat. “This is technically my fifteen.” But then, Connie’s expression changes, and he becomes more serious. “Oh! I got one of these for you!” From behind his back, he reveals the Vampire Hello Kitty that Levi had mentioned earlier. You hear Levi gasp softly under his breath, clearly taken aback by the unexpected turn of events.
“Here ya’ go, Prof,'' Connie says, handing over the Vampire Hello Kitty plushie with a wide, cheesy grin. “Don’t say anything to anyone, I sort of had to hide it in the back. I could get in trouble.”
Levi takes the plushy from Connie, his usually stern face softening for a moment. “Thanks, Connie. I really appreciate it.” His voice carries genuine gratitude, and it’s evident that this small gesture means more to him than he lets on.
Connie laughs softly, waving as he starts to back away. “No problem. I know they really wanted one.” He winks at you before adding, “Anyways, I should get going. I actually want to sit for some of my break.”
You watch Connie’s hurried departure, a mix of surprise and gratitude filling you. “You told him it was for me?”
Levi’s expression shifts to a more contemplative one as he explains, “I sort of panicked when he caught me looking them up. It was too weird for me to be getting one for another one of his professors.” He gently places the Vampire Hello Kitty plushie on top of the pile of Halloween decorations that have accumulated in your cart. “Didn’t know he was going to go out of his way to grab one.”
Your admiration for Connie’s thoughtful gesture deepens, and you share a knowing look with Levi. “He’s a good kid,” you comment, your voice reflecting your genuine fondness for the teenager.
Levi nods in agreement, his tone softening as he adds, “He slacks off a lot in class, but he always tries when it really matters.”
As the two of you head towards the checkout, you continue the conversation. “I’m surprised he got a job, even part-time. That has to be difficult to manage during college.”
Levi nods in acknowledgment. “Yeah, it’s not easy, but he’s determined. Plus, I think he likes the idea of earning his own money.”
There's surprisingly not much of a line, and the two of you enter the self-checkout area within minutes, maneuvering your cart to one of the larger registers. You and Levi have a well-oiled system: you scan the items and hand them to Levi, who then meticulously and obsessively bags them to his exacting standards.
As you work together, your curiosity gets the better of you, and you lean against the counter, ready to dive into conversation. "I gotta ask, why go through all this effort? I've never really known you to be the gift-giving type."
Levi raises an eyebrow, a hint of amusement dancing in his eyes. "I give gifts."
You chuckle, recalling some of his unconventional gifts from the past. "Hah, your usual 'gift' is breaking in and cleaning someone's place for them. Didn't you give Erwin a rock once?"
"I was six," Levi retorts with a half-smile, as if that somehow justifies the childhood gesture. "I got you that necklace last year!"
"Yeah, but I'm different," you playfully tease, offering him a knowing smile. "So, spill the beans. What's the reason for all this birthday fuss?"
Levi lets out a soft sigh, his gaze briefly dropping before meeting yours. "You might have noticed... Erwin's been sort of down lately."
"Maybe?" you reply, furrowing your brows as you think back to your most recent interactions with him. "I know he's been working more than usual. He canceled on us the last few times we were going to hang out."
"He's been having a hard time for the past couple of months," Levi explains, his tone gentle, hinting at the depth of his concern for their friend.
“Do you know why?” concern laces your voice as you lean in closer, eager to understand the source of Erwin’s troubles.
Levi nods, his expression solemn, conveying the weight of the situation. "Hange managed to drag it out of him. This birthday he'll be older than his dad was when he- it- it just really hit him hard."
A sense of understanding settles between you as you absorb this information. "Oh," you respond softly, realizing the significance and the emotional weight of this upcoming birthday for Erwin. “Oh- so he's-”
Levi continues, his concern evident. "I think he's sort of dreading it and overworking himself to avoid thinking about it. That's what he always does when he's stressed, cut people off and focus. He's even been skipping our mid-day workouts."
As he lifts up the Hello Kitty plushie and frowns at its giant fuzzy face, you can't help but feel touched by Levi's thoughtfulness. "He's been talking about wanting one of these plushies for so long. I don't know, I thought it might help."
You offer him a warm, supportive smile and reach over to pat his back softly. "You're a good friend. I'm sure he'll love it." Your words carry a sense of reassurance, appreciating the effort Levi has put into making Erwin's birthday special and trying to bring a smile to his face during a difficult time. The tension in Levi’s shoulders eases visibly as he meets your gaze, a soft smile curving his lips.
“I don’t even know how I’m going to wrap this giant thing,” Levi grumbles, his frustration evident as he attempts to stuff the oversized plushie into one of the grey plastic bags. It proves too much for the bag to handle, bursting over the edges and tearing through the plastic along the sides.
You can’t help but chuckle at the sight. “Maybe a gift bag,” you offer with a playful grin. “A big one.”
“Hey, I have an idea,” you suddenly suggest as the two of you continue bagging your Halloween supplies. Levi looks at you with curiosity, his attention piqued. “How about we invite Erwin over for Halloween? He can carve pumpkins with us and hand out candy. It’s a bit after his birthday, and I know he usually spends the holiday alone, handing out candy at his own place, but it might help cheer him up.”
Levi pauses for a moment, considering your proposal. The prospect of spending Halloween with friends and embracing the festive spirit clearly resonates with him. After a thoughtful pause, he nods in agreement. “Yeah, that could work. I’ll talk to him about it.”
Your eyes light up with excitement. “It’ll be great! We can make it a fun and spooky night to remember, it's a Friday night so we could even have a movie marathon after! It might just be what Erwin needs to lift his spirits. I'll be sure to harass him about coming too, so he doesn't cancel like he has been for D&D night.”
"He'll come, I'll even wrangle Hange in if it helps make sure of it," Levi responds, his tone tinged with a touch of apprehension. "Though I don't really want them to make another mess of our house." A visible shudder runs through him as he recalls the chaotic memory.
You can't help but find humor in Levi's horrified expression, and you respond with a playful laugh. "It wasn't that bad," you reassure him, "It made the housewarming party memorable at least. It certainly distracted from my burnt brownies."
Levi's grimace deepens as he recalls the kitchen ceiling incident. "That memory is still a stain on the kitchen ceiling," he grumbles, completing the loading of the final bag, or rather, placing it on top of the already overflowing shopping cart. "Fuck— are we going to be able to fit all of this into the car?"
Your laughter at the comical situation can only be described as explosive, echoing through the store as you both realize the challenge that lies ahead in fitting all your Halloween decorations into the car.

cilil's Halloween special
ʚ𖦹ɞ Author's Note: It's that time of the year, revelers and travelers, and I present to you a little something I made to celebrate the season (and another milestone). This is a fun and silly choose your own adventure story with a couple of options and a tiny bit of romance and innuendo sprinkled in. I hope you enjoy (and that tungle doesn't randomly eat posts or links, fingers crossed)! Happy Halloween!
ʚ𖦹ɞ Featuring: Your top choices - Melkor, Mairon, Námo, Oromë, Nienna, Varda and Yavanna
ʚ𖦹ɞ Warnings: / (Just a tiny bit of spooky and the dork lords being their dork lord selves)
ʚ𖦹ɞ Additional mystery: Out of the seven objects described in the first scene, two are in fact real and in my possession right now. Can you guess which ones? (No, there are no hints in the story itself as it isn't about me, but maybe some of you know me or have a hunch. Happy guessing!)
Tumblr media
It is not the first time that your fëa has found itself wandering the Path of Dreams in your sleep, though it looks different today. The sky above the great trees and hedges surrounding you is dark, stars twinkling weakly in the distance, and the only light comes from the full moon peeking through ghostly clouds. The gentle breeze carrying formless whispers from the forest is sharper and colder today, and the voices you hear are distorted and erratic.
You wonder if this is Irmo's doing as you hasten along your path, if he has twisted the normally peaceful dream realm into one of nightmares. Or are other spirits out there that were roused by your searching thought, displeased by your presence or perhaps even curious?
Instead of the golden gate and winding paths that would lead you to Lórien, you find a lonely, ancient-looking pavilion. It's overgrown with ivy, nearly covering it in its entirety. You have never heard any tales about such a location existing on the Path of Dreams, but your curiosity compels you to explore.
There is no one inside, nor anywhere nearby. It seems to you as though this pavilion hasn't seen visitors in a long time, yet it isn't empty: Pillows sit on the floor, their vibrant colours faded, surrounding a small table with various objects on it.
You examine the objects. Which one catches your interest?
☞ An old book with a rich emerald cover and silver ornaments. Its pages are yellowed and written in an ancient language you don't understand.
☞ A perfectly cut and polished almond-shaped gem. It seems to be a ruby or opal at first glance, shining with a warm light from the inside.
☞ A bouquet of flowers in a carved pumpkin. The plants all look as if they were freshly cut and harvested, but upon closer examination you see that they were preserved with wax.
☞ A bronze letter opener in the shape of a dagger. When you run your finger across it, the edge and tip of the blade are sharper than expected.
☞ An ancient telescope with strange symbols engraved. It's pointed at the roof of the pavilion, making you wonder what you are supposed to see there.
☞ A simple silver necklace with a pendant shaped like a budding rose. It seems unassuming at first, but the longer you look upon it, the more you feel like it might have been blessed.
☞ A diadem with countless gems and pearls. Once it has drawn your gaze, you are in awe of the way it sparkles and glitters even in the twilight.

Babes. With Halloween 147 days away I gotta know all the Pedro characters you hc as monsters. Like Din = demon, Ezra = werewolf, etc (lol idk how to word it)
Excuse me.. have you been looking in my google docs??
Okay - so I've actually given this a lot of thought, shockingly. I've come up with a list of what I think the boys would be for a story / series that might or might not ever actually see the light of day lol.
Here goes- hope you enjoy!
Jack Daniels; This man is a centaur. Cowboy through and through and nothing makes more sense to me than him being half man, half horse. Do with this information what you like. 👀
Din Djarin; For Din I have two headcanons—first one is Demon!Din, the lovable, sexy one that eats pussy like a champ and is a feminist lol. In the second one I don't think he'd be a monster per say, I think he'd be a droid, or some really advanced AI. He'd be intelligent, but surprisingly human underneath all that beskar.
Marcus Moreno; Homeboy is already super, so it makes sense to me that he'd be like a Magneto / Professor X hybrid. Intuitive, crazy smart, and very handy to have around.
Pero Tovar; I don't actually think he'd be a monster either, more like a time traveler who is perpetually lost. Never in his own time, never knows what's going on but point him towards somewhere he can have a stiff drink, a fight, and a woman or five and he's right at home.
Javier Pena; Javi would be a Nahual, the Mesoamerican version of a shapeshifter, also known as an animal protector and guardian spirit. I'm not sure which animal he'd change into-I'll leave it open to interpretation.
Francisco Morales; Werewolf. Hands down. Literally nothing else to add to this-he'd be normal and cool most of the time, and then disappear for the three days of the full moon.
Max Phillips; This one's a given, he's a vampire and it makes sense for him. No notes- they got it in one.
Marcus Pike; This is where we get a bit sad, I think Marcus would be a ghost. A lonely spirit, wandering the earth in search of a true love.
Ezra; He's a little different, he gives me 'Old God' vibes. A pagan harvest God or deity, someone you leave offerings to in order to have a bountiful harvest, or good health, fertility.
Dave York; This man is a crossroads Demon. He's cold, and distant, and is always ready to offer you a deal you can't possibly afford.
Oberyn Martell; This is obvious to me too, Oberyn is an Incubus. The breeding kink is so strong it's basically his personality. He's only here to have a good time, and fuck his way through humanity (consensually, of course), leaving as many babies as he can in his wake.
Max lord; Another obvious one for me, he's a genie. Make your wishes, and he'll grant them, so long as there's something in it for him at the end of the day.
Would love to hear your thoughts, and thots on this! 💜

Lokittys Halloween prompts
Hey guys! So this is just a little prompt list for autumn/Halloween themed fic requests if you wanna use them! I will repost this list a few times a week, or you can search “Lokittys Halloween prompts” on my blog to find it 💜 alternatively feel free to send your own Halloween or autumn themed requests to!
“So you’re a monster?” “You can’t just ask people that it’s rude.”
“You’re insane!” “Yes living for centuries would do that.”
“Isn’t it funny how time changes people.” “It’s twisted you.” “Perhaps, although that may be the vampire part of me.”
“Don’t say a word about this.” “Why?” “What do you think they do to demons moron.”
“Can you track people?” “I’m a werewolf idiot not a blood hound.” “But can you?” “Give me the damn shirt.”
“So does the new moon affect you?” “No why would it?” “I don’t know the full moon makes you change I thought the new moon would make you disappear.” “Thought or wanted?” “Wanted…”
“I’m a demon.” “But can you do it?” “You summoned me to ask if I can take you on a date?” “I don’t want to be the only one without one…”
“I don’t like ghosts.” “I don’t like being one.”
“I rule this season.” “Why?” “I lost a bet.”
“I want a pumpkin head.” “What the hell?”
“I’ve tried everything.” “Have you tried hitting it.” “It’s a bottle of holy water not a damn car!”
“You know, Halloween isn’t all about scaring people.” “It isn’t?” “No! It’s about the sights, the smells, the weird food no one likes but still buys.”
“Is it still as pretty as last year?” “What?” “The trees.” “Yeah, they’re just as pretty.”
“What will make you feel better?” “Jumping in some leaves…” “come on then.”
“How did you get here?” “I walked?” “But you’re a witch.” “That doesn’t mean I fly a broom!”
“Do you like autumn?” “I suppose.” “Why?” “Because it’s when everything changes.”
“Isn’t a full blood moon on Halloween dangerous?” “For a human? Yes. For me? It’s amazing.”
“So why are you stuck here?” “Because someone thought it would be funny to trap me in a demon trap please help me.”
“This is farewell my love.” “You can’t go…” “the vail closes at midnight… you’ll see me next year..”
“Aren’t you like hundreds of years old? Shouldn’t you be an adult?” “By your standards yup, by my kind I’m just a teenager.”
“I never signed up to babysit whatever you are.” “Well you’re stuck with me.” “Why?” “Because you picked up the damn object, why the hell would you pick some random object up that mysteriously appeared on your desk man? Seriously.”
“I’ll protect you.” “That’s what scares me, I’ve seen what you can do.”
“Let’s listen to spooky music.” “No.” “Why?”
"You don't want to go and do couple's costumes with me?"
“I like the sun sets earlier.” “Why?” “Just do.”
“How did you find me?” “You forgot that frost leaves footprints when you walk on it.”
“Wanna go to a party?” “Not really.” “Great put on that costume.”
“This is the only time I can be me without being hunted.”
“I am the deity of the harvest.” “We don’t do that anymore.” “I know it’s kind of tragic really.”
“I wanna go to a haunted house!” “You cried last time!”
“Hold my hand.” “Why?” “Because I’m scared idiot!”
“you got a pumpkin spice again?”

Sweet Amber, How are you doing? I know its Curtis and Honey week going on and I might sound selfish and I'm sorry for that but I really want to know how does halloween look like for Alpha Steve and LO?
What do they do in spooky season? I have a feeling LO craves for pumpkin latte and pumpkin pie. and Steve would bake her some pumpkin cupcakes from the scratch.
Ahhh, yes it might be Curtis and Honey month, just because they are domestic bliss and Honey LOVES fall even if Curtis isn't as fond of it. Lol.
BUT I am always open for talking about Alpha Steve and Little One as long as you guys all want to hear about those two! I love them heart and soul. They will always live with me.
I was just saying last night about how I can picture Steve making the woods around the lake into a pumpkin walk for the pack, but mostly for his Little One because he just knows she will love it.
They would play with each other, chasing one another through the forest while the Jack o Lanterns were all lit up.
I did write this little image back in 2020 (Omg how have I been on here working on Alpha Steve and Little One for so long?)
But Steve would go all out for Halloween, because his Little One was denied it for so long that all holidays are gonna be big and special for them. Both in private and with the rest of their pack.
All the wild bonfire dances, dressing up and trick or treating with the kids in the nearby town, at home Little One and Steve make all the fall themed desserts and drinks till they are unable to have anymore. Then they share with everyone. Sara will just randomly come over and raid Little Ones cookie jar.
Scary movie marathons, pumpkin carving contests and telling each other spooky stories in the nest. On Halloween night Little One can be found standing on the back deck, admiring the moon and claiming she can feel the magic of the night while Steve is hugging her from behind, rumbling he will keep her safe while kissing and nuzzling her.
Halloween becomes a time of playfulness for the wolves, hunting one another in the bond and while shifted through the autumn forest- darting through colorful piles of leaves and snapping at them while they are floating down to the forest floor. The harvest moons are so bright that all through the night the wolves sing their songs, making the night a little more wild feeling.
But let's get in our soft Alpha Steve and Little One feels-
Tumblr media
Steve thought of himself as a decent cook. He could make a mean breakfast on the stovetop, whip together a meal on the grill, and in times of necessity from his howling commando days, he could make something on the fire that could feet a whole troop.
But baking wasn't exactly his area of expertise. But when you rolled over to him in the nest, nuzzling up against him with that sleepy satisfaction that you went into at times, usually after the two of them had completely wrecked each other, you muttered something about craving some pumpkin chocolate chip muffins, like the ones in town.
That bakery was closed, but Steve was a determined wolf and with the encouragement of the Alpha and the Little Wolf, he scooped you up, making you giggle while wrapping your bare thighs around his waist and arms around his neck, nuzzling in against his neck and nibbling with touches of your tongue rasping along the column of his neck. "What are you doing Alpha?"
"You're gonna teach me to make you those muffins." He informed you while perching you onto the edge of a counter, biting your shoulder playfully before reaching for your mouth, kissing you enough to make you whimper when he pulled away.
"You gonna cook for me naked?" You teased as he pulled away and Steve rolled a shoulder while opening up the pantry. His muscled back and tight ass making you tilt your head and bite your lip.
"Snack and a Show Little One. Tell me what we need."
So you did, listing off ingredients and going step by step, watching as Steve was meticulous in following your instructions. All while you taste sampled whenever he held up the spoon to double-check the taste, teasing one another with little playful quips or quick little touches that made Steve constantly growl at you while he was trying to concentrate.
Never serious though, cause he would sneak you looks with encouragement for you to continue. In your bond the Alpha and Little One chased at each other, disappearing from each of your consciousness from time to time.
You just let your lips wrap around Steve's thick calloused fingertip, sucking off the pumpkin muffin batter while humming. His eyes flashed dangerously glowing blue at you. "Mmhh, more spice." You leaned over towards the jars of spices lined up nearby and plucked one up, popping it open and inhaling. "Mmhh, yup, needs more this."
Steve sniffed at it, his nose curling at the strong spiced scent. "You sure? I already added lots of this."
"Oh I'm sure." You plucked the bottle from him and gave a generous shake. "And now, the second best part. Besides the pumpkin."
"Ahhh, the chocolate." Steve dangled an open bag in front of you, allowing you to shove your hand in and grab some of the rich morsels of chocolate.
"The chocolate. Dump them all in Steve!" You held a frozen chip out to him, and he opened his mouth for you to pop it in for him while he did as you requested.
Finally, Steve was very carefully placing the muffin tin into the oven and pushing aside the dirty dishes away from you, he stepped into your embrace, your legs wrapping around his waist again and your hands sweeping up his hairy muscled chest while you stared at him with hooded eyes.
"You know the way to your mate's heart, chocolate chip pumpkin muffins. I should thank you."
You felt his hands sweep along your back and lay claim to the globes of your ass, pulling your center into himmmm. "How you wanna do that Little One?" He rumbled and you started placing kisses along his collarbone.
Chirping out "I got 25 minutes, I got some ideas." You pushed at his chest to push him back and hopped off the counter, twisting to lay your upper half against the cool counter while your ass pushed out for Steve.
The rumble of approval behind you made you grin. "24 now Steve."

Jack-o-lantern man looks very handsome! Can we get a snippet about him and the reader, please? Happy Halloween either way!
( ;A; ) Ahhhhhhhhhhh!! That is- ahhhhhh I am so flattered that you asked for a story inspired by one of my character drawings! It took a bit to get the time to sit down and get this written, but I made it just in time for the last 10 minutes of Halloween! I hope you enjoy it!
Unknown Pumpkinhead x Anonymous Reader (Sfw)
It was an unusually warm night.
You and a few others were hanging around a large blazing bonfire, a small respire from today’s nightly activities. The patrons who had come to the corn maze have mostly left, and only a few stragglers remained; they stood alongside you and the other volunteers. Drinking hot cider and talking about the day's events.
You lifted your head, past the smoke and flame, up, up, up into the spackled sky full of winking starlight. Halloween was almost over, and the next month was only a sleep away. The end of harvest, the beginning of winter, so told by those who roamed the world many, many moons before you.
You take a deep breath, abandoning your station by the warm fire to take one last walk amongst the rustling whispers of the corn maze.
You begin to walk down the path of flickering jack-o’-lanterns, their wide smiling faces grin up at you from either side. Your path is dimly illuminated until you reach the entrance of the maze. The tall painted sign with pumpkins piled high. You hear someone call your name before you call back over your shoulder.
“I’m going to start taking down the lanterns inside the corn maze!”
You hear the call of affirmation in response before you make the first turn and leave the bonfire behind.
It was a pretty impressive maze compared to last year. Luckily you also had double the volunteers helping out this year too. It started out as just a gig in helping out the local farmers in your community and it had turned into the thing you looked forward to every year. It was a lot of hard work, from the set up, to the take down, but being able to roam the maze as many times as you liked had made it all worth it in the end.
Your favorite time was right now, when it was just you, the soft soothing rustle of leaves, with the moon and stars above. It was peaceful and magical, the kind of subtle magic that made you feel alive. You could have ran that maze all night long under the blanket of night.
With the first lantern in hand, you hold it aloft, traveling further into the field. Blowing out candles and gathering up the lanterns.
You had an armful of them now, and had just turned around to make your way back to the entrance, when laughter made your ears perk up. It was the kind of laughter that giggling mischievous kids would make. Ones who were reveling in the glee of their own deviousness.
You frown, you had been under the impression that the last visitors were out standing beside the large fire. You thought someone had already swept the field and verified that it was empty. You call out in the direction of the sound projecting your voice towards where you thought the sound of the laughter had come from.
“The corn maze is going to be closing, I’m coming around to collect the lanterns!”
The air around you fell silent as you waited for a reply, “There’s a bonfire out front, and hot cider—“ You began again, but then you heard the sound of footfalls, running down the dirt road away from you. You joustle to set down your armful of dark lanterns, turning the corner just in time to make out a bouncing glow of light held aloft by a small dark shadow.
“H-Hey!” You gawk before chasing after them, your mind jumping to the conclusion that they had nabbed one of the lights and was trying to make off with their prize.
You chased the small figure the best you could through the twisting, turning maze. Wind tugging at your clothes as your feet rushed through the dirt path tamped down by past wanderers.
“Hey!” You call out again in frusteration, the last turn you had lost whoever had been running. Tumbling almost head first into a dead end. It’s just one lantern right? You’ll have to head back and tell the others what happened. It was probably one of the well known troublemakers, something that would be returned in the morning by an apologetic parent.
You do a slow circle around to get a look at your surroundings, giving a grumpy sigh. The maze has been going on for about a week now, and you felt that you knew your way around pretty well. . . Or so you thought.
You attempt to make your way back, but the paths that look familiar to you, lead to places you don’t remember. You press your fingers to your lips, pausing for the 3rd time to gather your barings. You honestly can’t remember being this turned around in here. You could call for help, and you grimace at the thought of pulling the others away from their enjoyment of the fire just because you wanted to start fetching the lanterns.
You do another slow pivot, looking at the paths before you and recounting your steps. Just then, you see a faint light glowing, a whistled tune carried forth on the breeze. The bobbing lantern is heading in your direction, and you hesitate for a moment before head towards the source of light. You hope it’s one of your co-workers
But instead you see the figure of a scarecrow, a thick buttoned collar around their neck, and their baggy clothes tied with a length of rope around their middle. Dark pants and shoes. Atop their head sat a curious looking pumpkin, it’s jagged face seemed to be illuminated by some flickering light source. As you raise your hand in a wave they spot you.
The pumpkin face re-arranging itself into a strange but cheerful expression. It stunned you for a moment.
“Well hello there! Happy Halloween!”
The jagged mouth opened and closed in the most peculiar way.
“Y-you’re mask. . . that’s animatronic right?”
The pumpkinhead pauses before guffawing with a loud bout of laughter. They had doubled over from laughing so hard, hands on their knees as they wheeze. You stare at them in disbelief, just what’s so funny? You were only asking about their costume.
When they finally right themselves,
They make a gesture underneath an eye socket as if wiping away a tear.
“Hehe, absolutely! It’s pretty neat don’t you think?”
The curve of their jagged mouth pinches up higher at the corners, and you carefully watch them
“Right. . .” You murmur, eyeing them wearily, “You know. . . you’re not supposed to be out here right? The corn maze closed about ten minutes ago.”
The stranger bounces the palm of their hand against the pumpkin’s forehead.
“Oh gee! Time to go home already? And I was having so much fun!” Then their voice turns sly, “Say. . . do you happen to know the way out of here? It’s hard to tell where you are when you’re in the middle of a field.” they tut sardonically, “It all just, begins to look the same.”
Your eyebrows pinch together, expression souring at the teasing tone in their voice.
The grinning face changes, you watch the corners of the mouth bow down slightly, “It’s dark, I mean. Anyone can make a mistake like that.”
“I’m sorry,” You rub your eyes, trying to ward off the tiredness that was creeping into your temper, and hoping that was also why the pumpkinheads face was looking so strange in the flickering light. “It’s been a long day, and I’m getting a bit tired.”
“Long day?” The cheerfullness and reappeared in their voice and they hold their lantern aloft grinning at you. “I know this field like the back of my hand, let’s talk and walk, shall we?”

Half-a-ween Special: A Full Calendar of Spookiness!
Friends, today is Half-a-ween—the day of the year on the exact opposite side of the calendar from our beloved Halloween—and I thought, what better time to remind ourselves that All Hallows is a year-round celebration of the dark and spooky side of life! Operating the whole year, of course, means having to contend with other holidays as they arise. I touched on the crossover potential between Halloween and Christmas a while back, but holidays have a habit of cropping up in every season, and it seems only fitting to fill the All Hallows calendar with appropriately spooky twists on them all!
For our first shake-up, we’re starting this calendar not in January, but in November—right after Halloween itself, and just when we might be wondering what else we could do with All Hallows now that it’s raison d’être is past.
Dia de Los Muertos: Let’s be clear—Dia de los Muertos is not just “Mexican Halloween,” and I don’t think it’s right to go around poaching bits of other people’s cultures for entertainment. That said, there are some similar themes between the Day of the Dead and Halloween, and if a special event could be done respectfully and with full permission and consultation by the Mexican-American community, it could be a good way to ease the park down from the full-blown frenzy of Halloween itself. Dia de los Muertos events would be located in Ghoul City, and in the expanded version of the park, Croaker Creek (for the Southwestern aesthetic) and History of Horror (for the educational aspect).
Thanksgiving: Pumpkin Acres is our Thanksgiving hub, what with already exemplifying the harvest aspect of Halloween with its cornstalks, scarecrows, pumpkin and apple pies, and other bits of cozy rural Americana. For Thanksgiving, live turkeys are added to Harry Palmer’s Petting Farm, Country Costumes adds Pilgrim garb and turkey suits to its wares, and the pumpkin patch transforms into a farmer’s market selling actual edible produce (including pumpkins, still...but now they're explicitly for pies). Make a reservation for a genuine turkey dinner at Granny McGillicuddy's Pie Barn...and if slots run out, similar meal events are available in other park restaurants!
Christmas: A couple years ago, I devoted a whole post to Christmas possibilities for All Hallows. I still stand by all of it. Hexmas imagery forms the backbone of the Yuletide festivities, with spooky black evergreens in the Entry Plaza, Trick-or-Treat Village, and Ghoul City. Goblin Woods and County Drakul host folkloric monsters as walkaround characters. Meanwhile, people who prefer a more conventional Christmas can head into Pumpkin Acres, where things are a bit more mainstream. All across the park, you can shop for Christmas-themed costumes, and Grave Goods stocks a few bona-fide Christmas decorations alongside the more typical Hexmas ones.
New Year’s: Interestingly enough, the ancient Celts marked the turning of the year at Samhain and many neopagans still observe it as their religious New Year. That said, raucous New Year celebrations are generally considered an urban phenomenon, so head to Ghoul City for the special events (and Baby New Year/Father Time costumes, if you think you need them). Strange things happen when the clock counts down to midnight...and nothing new can start without something else meeting its end...
Lunar New Year: Lunar New Year, as its name suggests, is tied to the phases of the moon. That alone suggests some interesting crossover ideas, but there's more content to be had in focusing on the East Asian cultural aspect with its deep well of horror lore. Chinese hopping vampires, Japanese youkai, Vietnamese ghosts and monsters...expect to see them all wandering the place, along with the animals of the Eastern zodiac itself.
Valentine’s Day: Not to be crass about it, but “monsterfucking” became the Tumblr equivalent of a household word for a reason. Quite a few people seem to fantasize about romance with one or more creatures of the night. Valentine's Day festivities are more touchy-feely than other occasions at All Hallows...or any theme park, really. In this adults-only special event, roaming characters are fully empowered to flirt with guests and even engage in some low-level physical contact (e.g. hugging, hand-holding). The interactions range from the sultry to the silly and everything in-between (but nothing too intense).
Carnavale/Mardi Gras: This one isn't a big deal where I live, so I don't have any firm ideas for specific events or attractions, but I'll just point out two things. First, this holiday shares with Halloween a tradition of masks and costumes, so expect to see a lot more colorful sequins and feathers on the shelves of the costume stores. Second, the etymology of the word “carnival” apparently comes from the Latin root for “flesh.” There's probably something we can do with that.
Easter: What do Easter and Halloween have in common? CANDY! What else do they have in common? Um...things rising from the dead...no, I'm sorry, I can't. I'm not Christian but I'm not about to make a mockery of their holiest day like that. Better stick with the candy. The Easter celebrations in All Hallows can be found in Trick-or-Treat Village, where the characters sport bunny ears and hand out trick-or-treat prizes inside specially patterned plastic eggs.
May Day/Half-a-ween: On this, the polar opposite day to Samhain, the Seelie and Unseelie faeries are said to do battle with each other for control of the natural world! If you dance the maypole in Goblin Woods, you might catch a glimpse of this conflict (read: battalions of bloodthirsty fae will appear without warning and skirmish without regard for bystanders). Elsewhere in the park, the delightful irony of Half-a-ween, or “Halloween in May,” is reflected in window displays and roaming character dialogue.
Summer: Goblin Woods comes to the fore again with “A Midsummer Night's Nightmare,” a full-scale LARP adventure for teams of 4-6 players (reservations required). In Ghoul City, the Gilman Municipal Beach area becomes the site of a tongue-in-cheek Monster Beach Party event. Pumpkin Acres is all about the Summer Harvest, with delicious summer produce and watermelons carved like jack-o-lanterns. These events run all summer long until Labor Day weekend (we Americans are weird and place it in early September), by which point we're all sick of the heat and ready for Halloween season proper to begin again!
All Year Long: Keep an eye on your calendar and plan visits for evenings marked with a white circle, even if they fall in the middle of the week. The night of the full moon is Werewolf Night in Ghoul City, Goblin Woods, and County Drakul, and each month bears a sub-theme of its own, with photo ops, collectible merch, and more! And if a second full moon hits in one calendar month? That's the fabled Blue Moon, bringing twice the spooky magic!
And that's how you celebrate Halloween the whole year round.

Today I thought it would be fun to highlight three books that came out earlier this year that all had intriguing covers. Have you read them? What book covers have caught your eye lately?
When You Wish Upon a Lantern by Gloria Chao Viking
Liya and Kai had been best friends since they were little kids, but all that changed when a humiliating incident sparked The Biggest Misunderstanding Of All Time—and they haven’t spoken since.
Then Liya discovers her family's wishing lantern store is struggling, and she decides to resume a tradition she had with her beloved late grandmother: secretly fulfilling the wishes people write on the lanterns they send into the sky. It may boost sales and save the store, but she can't do it alone . . . and Kai is the only one who cares enough to help.
While working on their covert missions, Liya and Kai rekindle their friendship—and maybe more. But when their feuding families and their changing futures threaten to tear them apart again, can they find a way to make their own wishes come true? -- Cover image and summary via Goodreads
Delicious Monsters by Liselle Sambury Margaret K. McElderry Books
Daisy sees dead people—something impossible to forget in bustling, ghost-packed Toronto. She usually manages to deal with her unwanted ability, but she’s completely unprepared to be dumped by her boyfriend. So when her mother inherits a secluded mansion in northern Ontario where she spent her childhood summers, Daisy jumps at the chance to escape. But the house is nothing like Daisy expects, and she begins to realize that her experience with the supernatural might be no match for her mother’s secrets, nor what lurks within these walls…
A decade later, Brittney is desperate to get out from under the thumb of her abusive mother, a bestselling author who claims her stay at “Miracle Mansion” allowed her to see the error of her ways. But Brittney knows that’s nothing but a sham. She decides the new season of her popular Haunted web series will uncover what happened to a young Black girl in the mansion ten years prior and finally expose her mother’s lies. But as she gets more wrapped up in the investigation, she’ll have to decide: if she can only bring one story to light, which one matters most—Daisy’s or her own?
As Brittney investigates the mansion in the present, Daisy’s story runs parallel in the past, both timelines propelling the girls to face the most dangerous monsters of all: those that hide in plain sight. -- Cover image and summary via Goodreads
Harvest House by Cynthia Leitich Smith Candlewick Press
Deftly leading readers to the literary crossroads of contemporary realism and haunting mystery, Cynthia Leitich Smith revisits the world of her American Indian Youth Literature Award winner Hearts Unbroken. Halloween is near, and Hughie Wolfe is volunteering at a new rural attraction: Harvest House. He’s excited to take part in the fun, spooky show—until he learns that an actor playing the vengeful spirit of an “Indian maiden,” a ghost inspired by local legend, will headline. Folklore aside, unusual things have been happening at night at the crossroads near Harvest House. A creepy man is stalking teenage girls and young women, particularly Indigenous women; dogs are fretful and on edge; and wild animals are behaving strangely. While Hughie weighs how and when to speak up about the bigoted legend, he and his friends begin to investigate the crossroads and whether it might be haunted after all. As Moon rises on All Hallow’s Eve, will they be able to protect themselves and their community? Gripping and evocative, Harvest House showcases a versatile storyteller at her spooky, unsettling best. -- Cover image and summary via Goodreads

after three hopes it really does seem like the writers consider the agarthan and nabatean factions about equally severe, since 3/6 routes have you fulfil the agarthan plan to remove the church (cf/sb/gw) and 3/6 have you fulfil the nabatean plan to root out the agarthans (ss/am/ag) - the fact they made an agarthan the player and let you kill sothis/byleth permanently in this game kinda cements this idea.
I can see your perspective, nonnie, and I'm definitely frustrated by Fodlanverse's disinterest in really examining the Nabatean/Agarthan conflict, but I think it's important to look at how those things are framed.
For one thing, we actually have 7 routes to look at: Scarlet Blaze, Crimson Flower, Silver Snow, Azure Gleam, Azure Moon, Golden Wildfire, and Verdant Wind. Four of them end with the Agarthans being destroyed and the Nabateans surviving, and in all of them this is presented positively. It's worth noting that the one route in canon where the Nabateans are destroyed first is the only one that ends at night with the characters surrounded by flames, and perhaps the most unambiguously positive and hopeful ending—Verdant Wind—has the Agarthans and Nemesis destroyed while the characters are bathed in sunlight. (@electricprincess96 has a really good meta on lighting in 3H for more thoughts on this.) And on Crimson Flower, where you do an ethnic cleansing of the Nabateans, the ensuing war against the Agarthans is implied to have been long and bloody; on Verdant Wind, where you side with the Nabateans and learn the full truth, it's over with the last stand at Derdriu. I think the writers handled the conflict too ambiguously at times, mostly so the Waifu Du Jour™ doesn't look bad for siding with the mole man Proud Boys, but if you look purely at how it's framed in canon, it seems clear whose side they're ultimately on.
Hopes, meanwhile, is mitigated to me by the fact that it's pretty clearly a bad end by series standards. Fire Emblem games are, historically, about fighting a war to achieve peace, and iirc all of Hopes' endings are basically "and then the continent was plunged into perpetual war :)". For its faults, Hopes doesn't appear to be framing any of the paths as a 'golden route' or even an especially good one—and why would it? The last thing Intsys wants to do is to retroactively declare its most popular, best-selling game to be pointless.
(While FEH isn't the best metric, it's still worth noting that Rhea is portrayed entirely sympathetically there, while the two playable Agarthans are not. Summer Rhea is supportive and kind to Byleth and wants the students to have fun at the beach, and Halloween Rhea doesn't understand how to cause mischief but wants to enjoy the harvest festival all the same and laments how Seteth would think her outfit is inappropriate. Intsys had a golden opportunity to use CF!Rhea for her fallen alt...and they didn't; they used SS!Rhea instead and went out of their way to say that she wasn't a victim of dragon degeneration and that there's hope for her. Meanwhile, Solon and Kronya are unambiguously the same card-carrying villains they were in-game. FEH has its problems, but those choices are still deliberate, and that should tell us something.)

That twst child reader being a crybaby. Lol. Let me add to the chaos from my own experience.
I was also a crybaby when i was a child, not to mention an indoor child who is spoiled (good thing i mellowed out in my teenage years). If i fall or get hurt, i will cry like i was stabbed by a knife. I mostly raised by my mom and always have my lil sister by my side. So i am very cautious with adult men or any men that is older than me. I was also very small and short, so the nrc boys would look like giant to me.
Not to mention, i was told when i was little, not to follow any men you dont know because you will get kidnapped and sold to other people, also your organs will get harvested by them.
You can imagine how i never wander from my mother, but then again i was adventurous and mischiveous type of kid. I climb furnitures and like to hide from my mom in mall, but i can still see her. I was quite the smart kid, if i want to explore, i need to remember how i can went back to her first then i take off, mostly to see the other sparkly shop in the mall.
If i was in that position, best believe i will cry my lungs out and try to escape from there in search for my mom. I also probably will believe that they are kidnapping me and will harvested my organs, so i probably will cry and pleading for them not to take my kidneys or sold me to other people.
If i saw Trein and Lucius, boy would i cry. I watched Cinderella when i was a kid and i would immediately know that he is the stepmother except he is a male and also Lucius seal the deal, i would call that cat Lucifer. I totally would ask if he would torture me, then pleading and sobbing to him not to torture me and cry about him making me his slave and make me work like Cinderella, and i also would call him stepfather.
I also would run from Crewel, not trusting him one bit. At some point i will ask him where his smoke is, because crewela smoking in the movie. I also would call him Crewela De Vil.
I also would run away from Vargas, give him the stink eye and suspicious glare. Call him a bad guy and Gaston.
If you want more, stay tuned for part 2. Lol
My mom always taught me since I could walk, if a stranger tries to grab you, to kick, scream, bite, cry, make a big scene. I wasn't a very adventurous child, and even though I've wandered a couple times, I've been fortunate to never have to follow that advice. But if I was suddenly in this scenario, I probably would have done just that all the while screaming for my mom.
I was also big into princesses as a little girl. (not that that's changed all that much lol) So I know for a fact my Beauty and the Beast loving self would have very much disliked Vargas. And Trein would not have not gotten very far dealing with me either. Though I don't think it would register to 5 year old me until I saw the cat. I might have cried asking if they were going to lock me in a tower and make me clean like Cinderella. And as much as I love Malleus, I don't think I would want to go near him until he proved he wasn't Maleficent or something.
That being said, for being such a scaredy cat, I sure loved Halloween. So I probably would have written off Lilia as a friendly vampire if he presented himself as nice from the start. Which considering Lilia is a parent, I think he's perfectly capable of. The Savanaclaw gang I might have thought as werewolves. I probably would have asked Jack how he could do his signature spell without a full moon.
And rereading my post, I've realized I unconsciously made little Mc hang out with Silver a couple times, which is likely something I would have done. Silver is based on Aroura after all, with some Phillip sprinkled in. Little me/mc would have likely figure this out and clock him a safe person. Because Silver is the closest thing to prince charming around here, so he'll be my friend, right? Same goes for Neige, much I'm sure to Vils annoyance. lol

Star Stable Halloween Trail Ride
Halloween has always been special. My first one in Jorvik though, where magic is so open and yet so easily brushed away with other explanations? It's incredible. There's a being called Galloper Thompson that comes in the month of October to collect souls to trap in his domain. I don't know what he is. I want to say he's a ghost, but I don't think a ghost would live in its own separate domain, or have the power to harvest other souls.
I managed to sneak into his domain to look around. It's wonderfully spooky. The souls there are shockingly friendly, more focused on finding ways to entertain themselves than escape or harm. Perhaps because they tired of trying to escape ages ago. Either way, I can talk to the souls there and they'll lie about my presence to the master of the domain.
I found a portal in his domain guarded by a crow spirit who told me it lead to a Halloween Night trail ride. I love trail rides, and I love Halloween, so of course I'm going to go through it.
It was night on the other side of the portal, despite it being day when I went through. Ghostly torches light the path, and I'm starting to think that the crow was being literal about this being a Halloween Night trail ride. I might in fact be on the day of Halloween. Is time travel possible? Is this a facet of another world? A glimpse into a possibility? A dream? It feels surreal to ride through.
There's a ghost pig on the trail just waiting for attention. It's so cute to pet. And I found Emma and Luciana further up around a campfire trading stories. They were surprised and relieved by my presence. I wasn't as scary as they feared. Only, I shouldn't have been here, and neither should they. I sat down and listened as Emma retold a classic Jorvik ghost story of the Glue Man. I'm hoping this one is just a story, I would hate to think of Mythcare being stolen away to be killed for glue.
Further up the trail I can see what looks like an echo of a memory like what Linda brings forward when revealing the past with her moon magic. It's a circle of what seems to be druids around a horse laying on the ground. I hurry forward, but they vanish, and a tendril of Garnok pushes forward. It's aware that this time and place isn't quite right, but It is very much Garnok, and promises that soon It will come through. It's terrifying to have Garnok's attention so directly on me in a place so foggy in reality. And what does it have to do with the druids? They weren't sacrificing the horse, right? I want to believe they wouldn't do that.
There's Halloween masks on the trees up ahead, cute and funny. They've been animated somehow to turn and watch me. I suspect the trees are more awake and aware here on this trail in this time than they normally are. I thought I saw a wagon up ahead set for a rest break, but it vanished as I approached. I can see what might be stone, fossil, or illusion forming a giant rib cage through the ravine I ride down.
There's crows flying overhead here. They're calling to each other and watching from the trees as I ride past, lifting once I pass to settle on another nearby tree and continue watching. The path splits up ahead. I don't know which is the right path to take. I hope I'm taking the right one as I continue down. The crows at least approve. And there's a ghost cow I can take a moment to pet.
The ravine really narrows ahead, and there's thick giant webs crossing through it. There's actually a giant spider, large enough to eat Mythcare, resting at the entrance. It almost looks cute. I dropped my guard too much. Everything on this trail ride so far has been eerie but harmless. This wasn't. The spider dropped down and chased after us for a meal. I pushed Mythcare to race down. There was another spider down there, and I think I spotted eggs. Mythcare was more graceful than I could have hoped for in dodging the webbing so we didn't get tangled up.
Somehow we got out. The crow spirit greeted us there, and asked if we'd enjoyed ourselves before leaving. The rest of the trail ride was, somehow, mundane. There were just pop out wooden cutouts of Halloween monsters with spooky noises from a recorder. James was wearing a mask of his own face running it, asking for a donation if I'd enjoyed the ride. I reached the portal and passed back into Galloper Thompson's domain.
All I can think now that I am through to the other side, is was it really James at the end among what seemed so mundane? Or was that last stretch still a mockery of the norm, simply placed there to calm those who rode through with a doppleganger in a mask?

Hordak and the Hair!
She-Ra Fanfiction Entrapdak Entrapdak Mini-Month Prompt / Theme - Halloween  Summary: Entrapta convinces Hordak to help her take Imp and some of the clones out Trick or Treating.   ____________________
Hordak and the Hair
“They’re Hordak and the Hair! Yes! Hordak and the Hair! One’s a dark overlord! The other’s just there! To prove their oddball worth, they’ll overthrow…Etheria…” “Kadroh! That doesn’t even rhyme!”   “Well, it’s all I could come up with on short notice, Sister Entrapta!” Entrapta had decided to introduce her family to the tradition of “Trick or Treating” for the Harvest Holiday – All Hallows Eve, meant to honor the year’s dead, to face one’s fears and to exercise imagination.  The activity entailed going out in costumes and begging people for candy.  At least “begging” was how Hordak put it and he couldn’t feel any less dignified.  It made Entrapta and Imp happy, so he engaged.   Entrapta and Hordak were walking the streets of Bright Moon, followed by Kadroh (formerly Wrong Hordak), Imp, Emily (with an expanded cargo compartment) and several clones.  They were all dressed in interesting costumes.  Emily was painted to resemble a giant pumpkin.  Imp had a fuzzy black and yellow sweater on, a headband with bobbling antennae and his tail was painted black – all to make him resemble a bumblebee – a strange, bat-winged bumblebee, but one nonetheless. Kadroh was wearing a cape and a medallion and had colored his hair black. He was meant to be a character called “Dracula.” There were others meant to resemble characters from stories that Entrapta and Hordak had picked up on their “inter-dimensional cable” service (harvesting tele-visual waves from across the cosmos) as well as characters from Etherian folklore.  One clone had his hair frizzed out and a fake patch of “drool” painted upon his chin.  He carried a prop-device filled with a knockoff version of amniotic fluid. Another was dressed in a fake fur bikini-bottom and a big faux-metal chest-plate, meant to be a barbarian warrior from an ancient native story.  There was, of course, someone dressed as the She-Ra. Still another donned a dark cape and cowl, a spacebat being a “Batman.”  There was a pair in long black robes carrying pole and cardboard scythes meant to be “Grim Reapers.”   Hordak and Entrapta… wore big fake white mouse ears and long pink tails.  They were cosplaying “Pinky and the Brain.”  It was a tele-visual broadcast harvested from deep space that Entrapta had become obsessed with.  Hordak enjoyed it, too, despite its theme of constant failure striking quite close to his hearts uncomfortably.  The fact that “The Brain’s” schemes were incredibly convoluted made up for that and he learned to appreciate the humor, as well as the character’s determination. It still rather embarrassed him to be out in the open in such a ridiculous costume pretending to be a lab mouse.  He thought that Kadroh’s costume would suit him much better, or that of one of the Reapers.   Kadroh insisted upon singing that ridiculous song the whole way – a modified version of the show’s theme.   The reception they got at people’s doorways was mixed.  Etherian adults accustomed to passing out candy to children indulged the clones, as the “poor dears” had spent their lives without a childhood.  Hordak’s glowing red-eyed glare, expending a sense of menace, did not hurt in influencing the populace.  Everyone got the large size candy bars, except for Entrapta, who preferred the Fun Size.   At one of the houses, Kadroh got a rock. It was a pretty rock, a very shiny rock, so he had no complaints.   By the evening’s close, Hordak couldn’t help but smile at the ridiculous song since “The Hair” had decided to wrap herself around him, holding on by her long locks.  His armor was holding up well and she’d grown tired – something that he thought almost an impossibility for her.   “Please do not eat all of the candy at once, Brothers,” he said to the other clones.   “Why not?” Entrapta said.  “Could sure use the energy for what we’ve been working on.” “You, too,” Hordak said, securing her close with one armored arm.  “There is a difference between working-energy and making yourself sick.”   “We should do this again next year.”   “Absolutely not.  You and I are a little old for it.”   “Hmm…never too old for Halloween.”

flimsy fairy wings, broken record player, ball pit | adra, hugo, theresa, kiera!
@gerrykecy
adra
flimsy fairy wings — did your muse used to celebrate / dress up for halloween as a child? if yes, what’s a costume they remember wearing (and did they pick out or did their parents)?
oh absolutely! you might've thought she wore fairy outfits but actually she did a combo of wearing fairy outfits, hand-me-down costumes from saf, and whatever she convinced her mom to make her (they were always hand-made outfits never ones from the party store). her favorite was actually one that was handed down from saf and it was just a fancy dress all red and gold and pretty.
broken record player — what regrets does your muse have? if they could go back and change that event / the past in general, would they?
any missed/failed hunt. also though like...she's got a few missed connection relationships-that-could-have-been that she sometimes regrets. idk though she's always looking ahead. she wouldn't go back.
ball pit — what does your muse do for fun?
other than the obvious, adra does enjoy little crafts? like out of polymer clay or other tiny things! idk i feel like she would like that?
Tumblr media
hugo
flimsy fairy wings — did your muse used to celebrate / dress up for halloween as a child? if yes, what’s a costume they remember wearing (and did they pick out or did their parents)?
hugo did a few like cowboy or knight type costumes. none that were super memorable.
broken record player — what regrets does your muse have? if they could go back and change that event / the past in general, would they?
he has so many! especially about his sister and about kian. but most specifically. he would absolutely like a do-over on a lot of things.
ball pit — what does your muse do for fun?
used to be sex and clubbing and stuff like that but with having a child, he's doing less of that. he does enjoy running and hiking and, when it's the right season, kayaking.
Tumblr media
theresa
flimsy fairy wings — did your muse used to celebrate / dress up for halloween as a child? if yes, what’s a costume they remember wearing (and did they pick out or did their parents)?
she did some years but not every year. her parents didn't care about halloween so it depended year-to-year how badly she wanted to fit in. they were always store-bought and often like...just a generic witch or angel or whatever. parents probably picked.
broken record player — what regrets does your muse have? if they could go back and change that event / the past in general, would they?
she has constant regrets. she'd like a do-over of her entire last relationship tbh.
ball pit — what does your muse do for fun?
hang out with pogo. read. she likes a little casual game (animal crossing or stardew valley or harvest moon). nothing too interesting.
Tumblr media
keira
flimsy fairy wings — did your muse used to celebrate / dress up for halloween as a child? if yes, what’s a costume they remember wearing (and did they pick out or did their parents)?
she did! usually her parents let her put something together from the goodwill and she just loved putting pieces together to make something wild. but often it didn't quite work the way she pictured. one year she tried to go as, like, a disco girl and everyone was like "wtf are you supposed to be?" and she was mega embarrassed....
broken record player — what regrets does your muse have? if they could go back and change that event / the past in general, would they?
ehh keira is also someone who doesn't worry too much on regrets. she wished hshe hadn't failed out of art school but beyond that like...she's trucking along. she's doing well for herself.
ball pit — what does your muse do for fun?
she likes to mix drinks! she likes to watch reality tv. she likes to vibe. idk.

Tumblr media
the night of October 28th
when you got home yesterday night after locking your doors tightly, you thought for a while and decided to brush off the interaction to just him being stressed over the harvest. but the thing you could absolutely not shake was the feeling of primal, ancient fear that roiled in your stomach when he looked at you. it had felt like your entire existence had been laid bare, and that you were completely defenseless to this creature in human clothing.
but then you shook your head. would a beast really come into a bakery just to get apfel strudel and bread? would a beast always talk so quietly and never show any signs of anger or malice? surely you were mistaken, you thought. you'd been watching some halloween movies the last week to get into the holiday spirit. it was just messing with your mind, you decided.
you went to bed a bit jittery, but eventually fell asleep with the light of the waxing gibbous moon streaming through your window.
...
October 29th
könig had not shown up to the bakery today after your tense and awkward encounter with him just yesterday. you didn't think much of it, since he rarely came to the bakery two days in a row. but the day was filled with hordes of customers getting their pastries for halloween, and your apron was covered with flour and little globs of dough from all the kneading and mixing and baking you were doing.
you were rushing to pack up a large order in between your baking, just humming and nodding to the customer as he talked and talked, until something he said caught your attention. you looked at him with owlishly wide eyes, holding a half-full pastry box and your apron a mess.
"i know it's hard to believe," the man said. "but some of the farmers who live closer to the woods heard it. howling, but almost like the kind of a wolf that knows it's got no time left. no one was brave enough to go look."
you blinked as you processed his words. "i didn't hear anything, and I live farther from town than most."
the man shrugged. "it was from much deeper in the woods, is the word around. this wolf business could be what's driving all the prey away from this town. no one, not even the hunter himself, has caught anything of late."
"does anyone live near where the wolf howls were coming from?" you asked.
the man shrugged. "the only people who live close enough to hear it were the farmers. but," the man paused for a moment. "no one knows where the hunter lives. he might know what's going on, or maybe he was hunting the wolves that are taking his prey. no one knows."
you shook your head absentmindedly as you thought back to the day before. but then the bell chimed from the front door as a group of children walked in, and you put the memories at the back of your mind as you rushed about your busy workday.
...
your day at work had been long and arduous. your feet hurt from running around the bakery, your knuckles red and sore from kneading so much dough, your hair still had little flakes of flour in it. you walked home slowly in the twilight, not thinking much about anything except how you couldn't wait to shower and lay down.
"you shouldn't walk alone at night," a familiar voice suddenly said behind you. you jumped and gasped, and your eyes went wide as you looked up and were face to face with none other than the hunter himself.
"könig, oh my god you scared me," you put your hand over your heart as you tried to calm down. "you didn't make a sound. what are you doing out in the town? i never see you out here." you blushed when you realized that you practically told him in plain words that you pay attention to his schedule and habits.
könig blinked for a moment before he responded. he spoke quietly in that deep voice of his, like he usually does. but there was something else in his voice, a deep rumble. almost as if he was about to clear his throat but couldn't. "i needed more bread. i didn't make it to the bakery in time."
"oh," you said as you thought for a moment, taking in some of the dirt on his plaid shirt. "i could go back to the bakery to get you the bread, if you'd like. i only just left."
könig examined you for a moment before he shook his head. "nein. you are tired. i can tell. i can live without bread for one day."
you blushed and your heart sped up. he noticed that you were tired? you could have jumped for joy. so maybe the town's most mysterious and brooding character wasn't so oblivious to you after all. you smiled a little to ease his worries. "it's really no problem. it won't take me long." you gestured towards the bakery a few blocks down.
but könig just shook his head again. "nein. i will come tomorrow."
"uh... all right," you said a bit awkwardly as you looked around the town square for a moment. everyone was already in their homes for the night, likely preparing costumes and food for the halloween celebration. "oh, i almost forgot. are you going to the halloween festival this year?"
könig narrowed his eyes at you for a moment, and your heart nearly stopped. könig responded quietly, but his tone was a bit rougher than you'd heard before. "i never go."
"oh, yeah...." you trailed off as you looked down at the cobblestone sidewalk. you tried to think of a way to broach the heart of the matter without arousing any suspicion from him. "have you heard the wolves that people are saying have come to the woods? some of the farmers heard horrible howling last night."
the energy between you suddenly changed. könig gave you that same piercing stare he did the night before when you asked him if he was okay. you held your breath and felt your heart hammering in your chest. his eyes were as hard as stones for a moment before he averted his gaze. "there are no wolves here. i make sure of that." he stated.
you tilted your head a little in confusion. "oh. then what do you think that howling that the farmers heard was?"
könig shook his head sharply and closed his eyes, almost as if he were scolding a child. "farmers do not know what they hear. the forest is full of many sounds."
you nodded slightly, unsure of how else to respond. you had never had this long of a conversation with him, if this could even be called that. könig was hard to read, closed off. guarded. his eyes darted around the street for a moment before he looked back at you.
"is that what the people think? that there are wolves in my forest?"
you looked at him confused, again for a moment with your lips slightly parted. his forest? you shrugged. "yes, that is what the word is. um..." you thought about whether you should say this or not, but the expectant look in könig's eyes told you that you just had to say it now. "some people have been saying that the wolves are stealing all the prey for the halloween harvest festival."
könig looked away quickly and muttered something sharply under his breath. if it weren't for that black bandana always covering most of his face, you might've been able to make out what he just said.
"people do not know what they are talking about," könig conluded.
you smiled and couldn't help but laugh a little. he stared at you with a tilted head. "what is so funny?" he asked.
"i'm sorry," you said as you managed to stop laughing. "i've just never heard you say anything like that. i can only imagine what the townspeople would say if they heard you say that."
but könig's mood didn't lighten at your laughter. you thought it had eased the tension, but he just seemed to sink deeper into his internal strife. könig took a deep breath with his eyes closed for a moment, before he opened them and seemed almost human again. "go home. it is dangerous at night."
"dangerous?" you asked. "but you just said there's no wolves here. town is safe."
könig sighed in annoyance and looked down at you.
"könig," you said in the softest yet firmest voice you could muster. "is there something going on that i should be aware of?"
he stood up a little taller, and you had that shrinking feeling a prey animal gets when it's cornered and has no way out. there was no where to go. you stumbled backwards a step. but once könig saw the fear in your eyes, he slumped his shoulders and downcast his eyes. "I will walk you home."
you didn't feel as though you had a choice in the matter, and your brain was mush from the whiplash of this conversation, so you walked to your house with könig in tow, following after you like some sort of guard dog. it was less him walking you home and more of an escort. his looming presence behind you did not put you at ease.
you finally made it to your front door, and könig stopped with a considerable distance between you two.
"i..." he hesitated. "i am sorry."
you froze for a moment. "what? why?"
könig paused. "i scared you."
you stood awkwardly for a moment. "well, you did, yes. for a moment." you felt your heart almost break when you saw the guilt he held in his eyes. you quickly spoke up. "but i'm not scared anymore."
könig looked at you from the corner of his eyes for a moment, studying you, before he turned to leave. "gute nacht."
and with that, he left you on your doorstep, feeling more confused and concerned than you were before.
