I have an absolutely splendid fanfiction idea! Hear me out, it's a modern-day high school AU. The year is 2023, and there's this kid who's really into fandom. They read fanfiction, participate in the discussions online, they might roleplay if that's what you're into, etc., etc. (Also, they probably have a Tumblr account, just sayin'.) They're in a new school for whatever reason when they hear some kids talking behind them in class. They're only paying attention to the conversation because they heard the words 'fanfiction,' 'fandom,' and 'Wattpad' thrown around. Then the kids start talking about one of their past partners. A Wattpad boyfriend/girlfriend when they were 13. Now Character A is super intrigued because they, too, had one of those. B goes on and on about their partner when it's revealed that they never really got over Wattpad Lover because they didn't actually end things. B has been trying to find them all these years! And then A is hit with a sudden and shocking realization: They are the Wattpad Lover! And then it's just a story about falling in love with your first love for a second time.

Maybe is my very particular interpretation but for me gods are very much a Concept more than people so the whole gale/mystra thing is very much a wizard falling in love with magic itself as an artist falls in love with art itself. I've been watching The Westward (thank you for that btw, its been really good up to season four so far) and I've noticed that all the dragon characters have different colored horns and powers like you said on your post the other day. Was it like that in the manga perhaps or was it an anime change?

(I'm glad you like it!) But I can't say that the different colored horns was an anime-only choice as there are plenty of different horned dragons within the comic.

Looks like both Ocean Dragons and River Dragons have different colored horns to show which family or sub-family clan they are a part of. I do enjoy how this manga goes into more dragon politics and how that is both connected and disconnected from Heaven's politics.

I haven't caught up with the manga in a while but this ask if a good excuse as any to re-read!

I am in such awe, and I just had to share it with someone. I remember the hiatus. I remember listening to “what a catch” in the car, especially the end with the reprises of their songs at the time, and feeling such sadness, thinking that fall out boy was over.

and not only did they get back together, but they’re stronger than ever. they make beautiful music and they still love each other, and they put on this incredible tour, and honored all these amazing eras of their career. like, holy shit. it’s just so amazing.

Oops.] - So something I realized thanks to one of @in-a-bucket​’s analysis posts on Whit (seriously go read them if you’re a Whit enjoyer) is that when talking about his deceased mom, he only ever brought up her looks and how beautiful she was which...is strange as you’d think he’d bring up her personality first especially since when talking about his dad, who he’s probably a lot less close to due to how distant he is, he does mention his personality. All of this is to say that I think Whit’s mother, or Elizabeth as I’ll be calling her cause that’s her canon name...wasn’t exactly as good of a person as Whit’s view of her would lead you to believe. But Whit still chooses to look up to her and see the best in her (the latter of which Whit does a lot as we know) because she was probably the only person Whit truly had in his life. Whit’s father, Lin/Steve, was absent from his life due to working overseas and though we don’t know much about Whit’s social or school life, it’s possible Whit didn’t have many friends as well. Elizabeth was really the only person he had, so he chose to see her in the best possible light and put up with whatever treatment she gave him because if she left then he would be truly alone. But as we know, she ended up leaving regardless...just in a different way. (Sidenote: Taking this into consideration, this probably was the beginning of Whit’s “everything is fine and I’m fine” approach to situations, the death of his mother was just the water that let the seed grow until it hit the ceiling) - Whit is canonically a light sleeper, and the canon reason for this is because he can’t sleep when there’s light, and that’s probably true but I’m an angsty fool so I shall propose another answer. I feel like Whit often has nightmares about Elizabeth and her death, these nightmares possibly often involve the day of her death or Elizabeth blaming him for whatever happened. I saw someone say that it’s possible Whit saw Elizabeth die whatever her cause of death was, and if so that’s one more thing to add to his nightmares. These nightmares very often wake Whit up, and he can almost never fall back asleep. - On the topic of sleep issues caused by Elizabeth’s death, I feel like after she died Whit possibly developed insomnia due to his mind being filled with thinking about her death. If this still sticks with him now, I also imagine he has some serious panda-like eyebags, he just covers them up with concealer or foundation. - The reason Whit knows how to cook is because he had to start cooking for himself after Elizabeth died because Lin is always overseas and thus obviously can’t cook. And generally had to become an adult before he was ready to - I feel like whenever Whit is alone, which is basically all the time, he just...talks to Elizabeth as if she’s still here. He’ll tell her about his day, about any jokes he’s come up with, about his job as a matchmaker, all the while knowing that she will never respond... - Whit probably never went to Elizabeth’s funeral, nor does he ever want to see her grave. He doesn’t want that final permanent reminder that his mother is gone forever.

It seems like recently it's just hot all the time but it will ocasionally tempt you with a cool day of reprieve BUT don't let your #guard down! because as soon as you start to think 'hey things are getting better! :0' the sun will be like NO actualy. scalding temperature #be upon ye.. #Which of COURSE. Fic idea: Jiang Cheng experiencing Ground Hog Day from the CQL nightless city episode, and having to relive it until yanli and Wei wuxian both live and then also finally waking up the Next day with the trauma of watching his siblings die hundreds of time.

I have had this on my "things I wanna write at some point" brainstorming doc for literal years, anon (though I know well there's at least one other fic with at least the time loop part of this premise). the only problem is that said brainstorming doc is about five pages long.

however the part of this that is really fun for me is definitely the part about where everybody is afterwards! cause it's not like Wei Wuxian is probably doing so hot either (depend'ing on where our time cutoff is, may still be at least 60% suicidal and definitely 100% homicidal), and Jiang Yanli is still grieving her husband, and here Jiang Cheng is like "as far as these two know I should be more functional than anybody else but turns out" and trying fairly unsuccessfully to do a Wei Wuxian "everything is fine and if I insist as much it will definitely become so."

Just three massively traumatized peas in a blanket! Love it, love them, hope they all break down crying on each other.
