one day he's 22 floating down a river and a silver haired kid saves him - at this point atsushi has already run into kunikida who declared he didn't have the time to give charity to every misfortuned orphan while actively dragging him to the dorms and preparing a warm bath and dinner for him

so he's already a newbie ada member - anyway he pulls dazai out of the water and the two talk a little and then they keep running into each other and eventually they become friends

after theyve become friends dazai realizes atsushis a newbie at the ada and decides to keep the fact that he's a mafia from him becuz dazai has like 3 ish friends and he rlly cant afford to lose any

anyway eventually atsushi finds out but other than being upset he asks if dazai can set him up with the cute as hell funny looking eyebrow lacking victorian goth vampire guy and dazai is like what u cant have other friends than me and atsushi is like thats mean dazai and meets akutagawa one way or the other

anyway dazai complains to atsushi that they never hang out and atsushi is like yeah becuz we have work

but every time they see each other dazai complains about atsushi ignoring him so eventually atsushi is like then quit the mafia and work at the ada or the cafe under the ada instead - we'll always run into each other that way

and dazai is like what no and atsushi is like yeah you wouldnt wanna be in the same room as ranpo and dazai is like wtf no ill prove it to u so he fakes his death, bribes a lot of ppl to clear his record and starts working w/ the ada - at first on the down low mostly working at the cafe (but every non ada regular also knows somethings up becuz he's a disaster at preparing food or coffee and has shit customer service skills but theyre nice enough to not point it out) becuz um recently ex criminal but eventually normally

I Know kim and harry literally index the case using the date 08/03 suggesting this is the date of day 1 however ruby's diary entry says M's peone is coming to martinaise to investigate on the Ninth (and besides, it doesnt fit with the date of death being the fourth and that the corpse has been hanging for seven days as of day 1). might the index just use eg the date the corpse was reported to the rcm rather than the date assigned officers actually make it to the scene

I like how I'm an "Izzy Hater" just for the fact I didn't become delusional and hinge the entirety of a show on one of the antagonists living or dying. 🙄

Like I legitimately liked Izzy. I was actually very sad he died.

But Izzy isn't the main character. Today I'm seeing posts that are of the sentiment, "we never said he was," but the hard core Izzy stans sure have been acting like this is equivalent to, idk. Killing Eve.

There's been great posts discussing Izzy being the show's antagonist within the crew and discussing the toxic dance that was Blackbeard and Izzy Hands. A very solid argument has been that Izzy couldn't be around for Ed to be Ed.

My personal argument is that Izzy was fated to die all the way back from S1. That he is the representative of "piracy." And as piracy is ending or dying out, Izzy dying represents that.

I do have problems with Izzy dying. But also I don't have enough of an issue to have deluded myself into calling this Bury Your Gays, I don't think Jenkins is a homophobe or transphobe like I've seen him be called on here, and I don't think it's transphobia just from a viewing perspective of Jim being trans and having had a beautiful arc both seasons and the Wee John being Calypso and not dying either??? Like the entire cast is queer, yall are so off your rockers with some takes that I have no sympathy for even though I was upset too.

It's genuinely concerning just how differently you all watched the show.

And as like a final take away - I guess the canyon happened bc people were horrendous to Izzy fans. That's not acceptable, I'm sorry that happened. This is an ahistorical romcom, the other extreme end of this fandom is wrong as well but in this case worse imo.
