1) your art is so pretty 2) omg you‘re into so many ships i‘m also into 3) hope u have a nice day ✨
Hehe thank you!!! Here’s a list of every ship I’m into right now, they’re almost all gay BAHCNSMA
Serizawa and Reigen, they are my number one. My silly rabbits. I have seen every single art posted about them on tumblr, twt, and Instagram. It’s actually insane, I’m constantly talking about them on twt, which is the only reason I go on that horrible website. Serirei quite literally makes me go fucking insane and I’m so so so normal about it.
Merlin and Arthur. Yeah. Yeah you get it
Asa and Denji from chainsaw man. If you get it you get it. I love it with two losers fall in love.
Arthur and John from Malevolent. Me when a guy falls in love with the demon possessing his body 🤯
Kaladin and Moash from the stormlight archive. That one is precious and special to me. They are so. I hold them close. Shallan and Adolin are implied
Haikyuu boys: Sakuatsu, Iwaoi, and UshiTen. They make me insane.
Jean and Armin from attack on Titan. Jearmin rise Jearmin pride!!!!
Jon and Martin. I was OBSESSED with those boys for all of October last year, and my most popular post ever is of them hugging like 4 times.
Hunter and Willow from the owl house. They are. They make me crazy. I refreshed the huntlow tag every day for like two months last year. They make me CRAZY
And the first ship I’ve ever had, imagine 7 year old me watching the third season of avatar, the boiling rock episode. Zuko and Sokka, my ogs. The blueprint

Despite being neighbors, no two shifter clans could be as different as Shiratorizawa and Seijoh. The former are a group of hunters who prefer traditional ways, while the later are farmers who put emphasis on innovation. But the one thing the two groups have in common are their clan leaders’ strangely similar looking children.
When Tsutomu and Tobio end up in the opposite clan’s territory right before a storm, it is up to both Tendou and Oikawa to take care of the other’s pup for the night, all while worrying about their own.

All That Matters
Satori </3
‘Sorry, SemiSemi my connecting flight got delayed. I don’t think can make it to the opening act.’
-
Kenji aking irog <3
‘Uhm, minor problem there’s a major traffic on my way cuz YOUR fangirls decided to hog the road. I’m running but I’m not sure if I’ll make it to the opening act.’
-
Ushi Sushi
‘I’m with Tori :/’
-
Eita couldn’t help but sigh loudly as he read the texts of his friends. It’s the last leg of his bands tour around Asia, they’re last stop is Philippines to honor Eita’s roots from his mom. It’s only 20 minutes before their opening act starts but two of his friends are not yet in the country, while his lover’s running for his life outside in the sea of fangirls.
“Yo, Eita. We gotta be up there in 5 minutes, we’ve extended enough.” Suna pat his back before exiting their dressing room, followed by Makki.
“Sweetcheeks Ei. Let’s go, security already spotted Ken-chan outside, they’ll escort him in, so he’ll make it throught the opening act after the VCR.” Kuroo piped in as he knocks on their door to remind Eita about their show.
They went on standby at their positions as the VCR plays, Eita kept on tapping his mic still nervous if Kenjiro would make it through their opening act. He doesn’t know why he’s pressured if the other would see their opening act, maybe because it’s the act that he specifically dedicated a song to him.
“Ey, ta-kun! Let’s switch things up a bit yeah? Let’s put your surprise by the end if that’s okay?” Makki prompted when he passed by Eita to which the other nodded in agreement.
As soon as the VCR ended and all of them rose to the stage, the arena started to get wild. Chants, screams, different banners, and light sticks with colors that represent each member. They opened the show with their opening act, filled with their trilogy debut series of songs. It was before the intro ment that Makki played the beat to one of their encore songs, surprising everyone.
‘Moonlit version, Encore.’ He mouths toward Suna and Eita.
‘Ah this one’s the alternative for the surprise.’ Eita thinks as he scans through the VIP Seated section of the arena, checking if Kenjiro finally arrived. He was there, waving his light stick and smirking because he saw the annoyance in Eita’s eyes as he recognizes the light color represents Makki instead of him.
As they wrapped up the opening act, they lined up by the end of the stage.
“You’re my dream, Hiraya!” they say in unison, introducing their band in front of thousands of their fans in the Philippines.
“My people! Did you miss me?” Kuroo started and the crowd replied with a series of unintelligible screams of agreement.
“Ah yes, I did too! Kuroo Tetsuro, in case you forgot my name because of the beats. They can be very, very, distracting.” He replies, which made the crowd go wild again.
“Technically those are MY beats, Tetsu! You’re the lead guitar not the drummer, stop stealing my job, dude!” Makki says before throwing a towel at Kuroo.
“Your Mr. Do-it-all, drummer, and oh hey there Issei! I’m Hanamaki Takahiro, and MY beats are the addicting ones unlike Tetsuro over there.” He adds making everyone laugh at their antics.
“Kahit saan ka tumingin?” Suna prompts
“KAY SUNARIN PARIN, MGA MATA’Y LILIPARIN!!!”
“That’s my pinilis!! It’s good to be back here everyone, it’s your boy Suna Rintaro your manliligaw for tonight!” Suna ends his introduction with a smile, fluently pulling off the Filipino phrases he learned from Eita while scrolling through their Twitter.
“Pinili!! Namiss nyo ba ako???” Semi asks as the arena once again erupted in a mixture of agreement.
“Namiss ko din kayo! Pero pasensya na hindi na ako pupwedeng manligaw sainyo ngayon, may nanalo na kasi sa puso ko. Semi Eita nga pala, ang inyong semi manliligaw sa gabing to!” He finishes, despite announcing him being potentially in a relationship, everyone couldn’t help but swoon for him.
After their intro ment, the second VCR started to play as they ran backstage to change their outfits. Once finished, they ran back to start the second and last set before their encore. Their second set of songs went by a blur even if it was composed of 10 songs that each of them composed together, it was already their second ment.
“Dudeparebro, do you remember Tetsu’s first words in Filipino?” Makki asks Suna who was busy wiping his sweat with a towel.
“Ya! Hiro I’m still here!”
“Wasn’t it, ‘Mahal Kita aking irog’? and he sent it to Kenma-kun?” Suna replied, smoothly switching from English to Filipino with the right accent that all four of them have learned and studied for years ever since meeting Semi.
“Paano ba yan, mga pinili. ‘Di ata kayo yung mga pinili.” Makki prompted that made everyone laugh at the irony of their fandom name.
“Napaka-issue mo, Hiro. Issei pakikolekta nga! Pwede ko naman kayo sabihan ng mahal kita, kung gusto nyo.” Kuroo butts in, causing the crowd to erupt in cheers as they agreed on the man’s condition.
“Hmm, di ko man kayo pinili makasama habang buhay. Mahal ko parin kayo!” He replies, laughing with his friends. Meanwhile Semi quickly went silent, realizing that Kenjiro’s not in his seat.
Shrugging it off as they proceed to the encore where they have their solo stages. Thinking that he just went to the comfort room or fetched Satori and Ushi, praying that they would be in time for his stage in the encore, he shrugged it off and continued to smile.
A few more encore sets before the solo sets rolled in. It was the usual sets everyone performed through the tour except Kuroo who casually slipped a “actually I’m engaged” before running off to the backstage, leaving the fans with no time to breathe and sink in things as Semi was already on the stage for the last solo set of the night.
“For the last solo set of the night, and of the concert. I would like to offer a special.” He smiles before he starts singing, the song he’s been composing for months. The song he has poured his heart onto, for the love of his life. For the person he’s willing to give his heart to. He was nearing the bridge part when the lights shut off as well as his mic. He was about to run off the stage to check what’s wrong when he heard a voice he dearly missed, having last heard of the way it sings during their last karaoke night before high school graduation. He stood still by the stage until the dim lights opened and before him was his beloved, his boyfriend for so long now. Singing him a reply to the verses of his song, it was a copy he sent to the members, one of them must’ve snitched but it doesn’t matter right now.
“I’m sorry for crashing your last solo set for your tour.” Shirabu says, getting a wave of disagreement with the fans.
“You couldn’t have crashed it, love. Not with your pretty voice.” Semi replies.
“Semi Eita, I’m not gonna repeat this so please listen carefully.” The other snaps, squeezing the older’s hand, he could only nod.
“Will you marry me...? spend your days composing by my side, I’ll take some days off to be by your side during tours. Will you be with me forever, from now on?” Shirabu asks, lips quivering with eyes filled with love and hints of worry.
“Yes, my beloved. Yes, I’ll marry you. But… I was also planning to propose after my solo set-” Semi answers, slowly puling the younger close.
“And I’m always willing to marry you, aking irog.” Shirabu answers, tears spilling from his eyes out of happiness and love.
They heard the crowd cheering as they put the rings onto each other and seal it with a loving kiss. Someone snitched the song, Semi worried for nothing, everyone is witnessing their special moment, but it doesn’t matter, for all that matters is just them and their love for each other, Eita and Kenjiro.

The Broken Wall
warnings: implied / refferenced child abuse, angst/ with a happy ending, bruises and blood mention (no detail) semi is a bit of an asshole
relationships: ushiten
word count: 3457
summary:
All his life, Ushijima was conditioned to believe that expressing his emotions was a sign of inferiority and weakness. He was made to believe he was a burden and a disappointment because he was left-handed.But with the help of his boyfriend and teammates (Semi included), the broken wall that made up Ushijima Wakatoshi . . .. . . Could finally be rebuilt.
Everybody was surprised that the unstoppable Shiratorizawa could be stopped by anybody in the prefecture.
What was even more surprising was that they were thrown off the pedestal by none other than Karasuno.
Nobody had thought the wingless crows could be a threat in years, not since the old coach Ukai had retired. Going into the game, the Shiratorizawa volleyball team had not been worried about losing at all. In fact, they had full confidence that they could win in straight sets, but they were gravely mistaken because Karasuno had won the finals 3-2.
This was the third year’s last chance to go to the nationals and they blew it with their arrogance. By thinking they could beat anyone.
The bus back to Shiratorizawa was eerily silent and Ushijima did not like it a single bit. He was used to Tendou rambling to him about the newest manga he was reading or the new chocolate he had tried, but the outgoing redhead stared out the bus window, not speaking or even blinking. Even the first and second years were silent, disturbing Ushijima greatly. The younger years usually played games together on the bus ride home and yelled when they lost. Instead of the bus being filled with laughter and yelling, it was full of white noise that tightened around each of their throats. Especially Ushijima, who felt the weight of the loss against Karasuno the most.
Ushijima glanced around the bus, taking everybody in. The first and second years sat on opposite sides of the coach, not even daring to look at each other. If they looked at each other they’d break. Ushijima knew how that felt, but never let it show. The third years sat at the back: Tendou beside Ushijima, glaring daggers out of the window and Reon in front of Tendou. Ushijima was surprised to see Reon sitting alone. Normally, Semi sat beside him to start multiple conversations with Tendou. Ushijima rarely joined in. He much ‘preferred’ to sit and listen. Although Ushijima would never admit it out loud, he wished he could engage more in conversations, but his mother taught him that if he were silent and obedient he would be wanted and loved, so he only spoke when he was spoken to. The only person he would start a conversation with was Tendou, because, for some reason, Tendou had managed to break most of his figurative walls down.
Upon further inspection, Ushijima found Semi but he was not prepared for Semi staring at him with a malicious twinkle in his eyes that said he had done something to upset the former setter.
Ushijima looked away from Semi to look out the window. Semis’s piercing eyes reminded him too much of his mother’s and it shook him to his very core.
-
-
-
After a long and suffocating bus ride, they had finally made it back to the school. They were greeted by multiple students who praised them for how hard they tried. Ushijima knew he had failed his team and that he was not a good enough ace so he did not understand why everybody was praising him for his effort.
Everybody but Semi it seemed.
Semi was still glaring daggers into him and it was starting to send him on edge. All he could think about was his mother punishing him by tying his left hand to his back and forcing him to do tasks with just his right hand whenever he used his left hand in front of her. To her, Wakatoshi was a disappointment to the Ushijima family name but Ushijima already knew that he was a disappointment to his team, his family, and himself. He knew this, so why did it bother him so much that Semi was giving him ‘the look’?
Eventually, Ushijima had enough of the glares, they made him feel like he was drowning so he spoke up.
“Eita, I can’t help but notice that you have been staring at me the entire way back to the academy. Do you need to talk? Are you okay?” Ushijima spoke as softly as he could to the setter. He may not have good social skills but he knew that Semi would get even more upset with him if he spoke normally.
“You know exactly why, Mr. Stoic, do not play stupid with me,” Semi sneered.
Upon hearing the harshness of Semis' tone, the whole team turned their attention to Ushijima, who was standing with a guarded expression, and Semi who had his hands balled into a fist.
“I’m sorry, but I do not understand what you mean. I do not know why you are upset with me, that is why I asked.” Ushijima bluntly stated to the setter, who growled in return. He left him feeling even more confused. Had the captain missed something? If so, why was nobody telling him?
“Well, since you want to play stupid I will spell it out to you! If Oikawa was the setter of Shiratorizawa, then maybe you would have played your best today and maybe we would have won!”
“Woah calm down Semi, it’s not entirely Ushiwaka's fault we lost, the other team was just better today, that’s it, now stop being such a whiny ass” Tendou snarled at Semi, who stood across from him and Ushijima. Tendou had firmly pressed his hand into Ushijima’s because he wanted to protect him from Semi’s harsh words, but he knew he couldn’t.
“Satori, it is fine you do not need to speak for me, '' Ushijima murmured in Tendou’s direction. He did not need Tendou to speak on his behalf. That would make him weak and Ushijima was not weak. He can't be. “However I’m afraid I do not understand what you mean Eita, I was playing at my best throughout the whole 5 sets but Karasuno won. The loss was not because of Shirabu being the setter, we lost because Karasuno was the better team. If you were the setter we still would have lost and that is that.” Ushijima replied. Semi looked like he was going to reply but he was not done explaining, he needed to get this out of his system before he lost all confidence.
“I can see you want to reply but I am not done explaining yet so I would appreciate it if you listened to me. Although I hate to admit it, I would have played worse if Oikawa was our official setter because Oikawa would not be able to read me and set the correct tosses. This is not Oikawa’s fault at all, I just follow textbook techniques whereas Oikawa likes to take risks, it wouldn’t work out so I do not know why you think I would be better if Oikawa was here with us.” Ushijima said. He spoke with as much confidence as he could muster but he was not feeling confident at all, especially because his comments seemed to have made Semi angrier than he was before.
“Oh, would you just shut up making excuses! The only reason why we lost today was that you are not a good enough ace. You suck. You know if you were good enough, your mother might love you and be proud of you but no, you’re a stoic left-handed freak who let the whole team and school down. You don’t deserve to be on this team because you are a worthless piece of shit!” Semi screamed at Ushijima. The captain was too hurt to reply back so he averted his eyes and let go of Tendou’s hand.
All of Wakatoshi’s fears had come true. He always knew he was a disappointment and a burden to his family, but not his team. He thought he had found a home with his team and boyfriend but he was wrong. If he was loved by his teammates, why did Semi call him a stoic freak? He knew he did not show emotions well but that was due to his upbringing. Ushijima’s mother taught him that showing negative emotions is a sign of weakness and that he should never show them to anybody or there would be consequences, so he buried his emotions deep within. If he did not show emotions, maybe his mother and team would love him.
But he was wrong about that too.
There was so much he was wrong about and he did not know what to do. All he knew was he needed to get out of the car park before the mask slipped off his face and he broke in front of his ‘family.’
“I will not be holding the meeting that takes place in 10 minutes but feel free to meet together as a group without me,” Ushijima stated as quickly as he could without his voice breaking.
He needed to get out. Now.
As he walked off he heard his teammates yell for him to come back but it was too late.
The mask had already slipped.
-
-
-
It had been approximately 30 minutes since Semi had yelled at Ushijima and he, along with the black eye he was wearing, regretted it greatly. As soon as Ushijima had walked off, Tendou had stormed over to him and punched him square in the face. Luckily for Semi, Reon managed to get Tendou away before he could do even more damage to his precious body.
The whole team was mad at him, even the coach who had overheard the argument. Semi knew he shouldn’t have taken his frustrations out on the stoic captain but he could not stop himself. Truth is, he was not mad at Ushijima. Rather he was mad at himself. He did not score enough when he was subbed in. He failed them all. But instead of talking to his friends about it, he took it out on Ushijima and broke him.
He knew he should go and apologise, but the captain was nowhere to be seen. He had tried looking for him but he was not in his shared dorm. The only evidence Semi had that Ushijima had been in his room was that his phone was on his desk so that nobody could contact him to see where he resided.
He had begun to panic until Tendou had put in the group chat that he knew where Ushijima was and that the rest of the team could stop looking for him. Relief washed over Semi. He knew his captain was safe, so he headed to his dorm to wallow in guilt and self-pity.
-
-
-
Tendou knew his Ushijima enough to know where he was. Whilst they were in their first year, Ushijima had taken Tendou to the place Ushijima felt most safe in when he was upset. Tendou liked to call it ‘the cuddle zone’ (Ushijima hated the nickname). Wakatoshi had shown Tendou the place after the latter had witnessed an argument between Ushijima and his mum. Ushijima was really upset after the argument and he needed to calm down without anyone else seeing (not that he showed that he was upset, but Tendou could read him like he was an open book). It was a small hidden bathroom in the corner of the school. It was pretty secluded so nobody had ever found it.
Nobody but Tendou and Ushijima.
Once Tendou finally arrived at the secluded area he could hear Ushijima pacing and labored breathing.
“Hey Toshi, can I come in? It’s just me. I told the others to go to their dorms so you don’t need to worry about anybody else being here.” Tendou softly murmured. His voice was always soft with Ushijima, he couldn’t help it!
The pacing stopped.
“No, I want to be alone Satori” Ushijima whispered, but he could not hide the voice break no matter how hard he tried to. Tendou knew him too well.
“Come on Toshi, let me comfort you”
“No, leave me alone. Please” Ushijima pleaded, he wanted nothing more than to let Tendou into the small bathroom with him but he couldn’t. If he did he would be proving Semi and his whole family right, that he was a frail freak who brought people down with his emotions. If he pushed Tendou away he could prove to everybody that he was not weak.
“Okay, Toshi, if that is what you want, I'll get some Hayashi Rice and mangas prepared for your arrival back to the dorms. Come back when you’re ready but you don’t have to hurt alone Toshi, I know you think showing that you’re hurt is weak but it is not. Hurting is human and you’re human, you deserve to be held and comforted when you want it and I know your mother never allowed you to have that and I will kill her for it but you can be comforted by me. You just need to ask.”
With that, Tendou slowly made his way back to his dorm room.
He knew forcing Ushijima to open up and talk would make him withdraw further into himself so he wanted Ushijima to come to him. Even though it hurt every part of him to know Ushijima was alone with his thoughts, hurting.
-
-
-
Once Ushijima was 100% sure that Tendou had gone he let the breath he had been holding out.  His mind was running 100 miles a minute. He felt conflicted. All his life he had been taught that displaying emotions to anybody made him weak and more of a freak than he already was. His mother had told him that him being left-handed was enough of a burden to carry so he must keep his emotions to himself and close off. If he did those two things maybe people could overlook his left-handedness and love him.
Even when he closed off and stopped going to his mother crying, his mother still did not love him. She told him plenty of times that she hated him, that he spoiled the family name, and that she wished she had never had him.
On the other hand, Tendou was gently telling him the opposite, he was telling him that he doesn’t have to be alone. That he could show Tendou all the pain he had been holding in. He had not let anybody in since his mother taught him to show no emotions, but Tendou wanted him to let him in.
Ushijima was getting more and more upset by the minute. Why did Tendou have to tell him he could lean on him?! His mother had made it clear he had to handle everything alone. Why was he being told two different things at once?!
Tendou had to be lying. He can’t prove his mother right. If he let Tendou in, he would laugh and leave him. Oh god, Ushijima didn’t want Tendou to leave him, Tendou was the only person who loved him, quirks and all.
Ushijima did not know what to do. His breathing sped up and he was pulling at his hair, trying to get rid of the aching buzz in his chest. but it was not working. Ushijima did the next best thing and swung his left hand into the nearest wall. When one punch wasn’t enough to relieve the ache in his chest, he hit the wall over and over again until his hand was bloody and bruised.
Once the ache subsided, he looked at his hand and cursed under his breath. His knuckles were most likely broken, which meant he wouldn't be able to play volleyball for a few weeks until it heals. He couldn’t do the only thing he was useful in.
With that thought, Ushijima couldn’t push down the lump in his throat anymore and he let out a choked sob. What was he going to do now that he was rendered useless because he could not handle his emotions? As soon as his mother found out, he is going to be in big trouble and he may not be able to play volleyball again because he let his stupid emotions get in the way.
Ushijima could not stand being in his comfort space any longer. It had started to suffocate him. He wanted his bed. He wanted his Tendou.
-
-
As soon as he got to his dorm room, he retreated to the bathroom to find the first aid box. The sooner he bandaged his hand, the sooner he could curl up in bed and cry. He wanted Tendou to come to cuddle him to sleep, but he knew he couldn’t ask him to come to his dorm. He was still too conflicted.
With great difficulty, Ushijima managed to clean and dress his wrecked dominant hand. He did not have any more energy left to change into his pajamas so he slid into bed in his volleyball jersey and shorts.
Once he was as comfortable as he could be he felt the lump in his throat form and tears sprang to his eyes. Ushijima knew he was alone and let out a soft sob. Ushijima’s mother had conditioned him into crying silently. If he did not make a sound nobody would realize he was upset and try to comfort him. This was the best way: if nobody knew he was upset and softly sobbing to himself then he was not weak. Ushijima put his hand over his mouth and pressed down hard to muffle his sobs. He did not want anybody hearing from the hallways. That would be both embarrassing and humiliating
After years of suppression and self-hatred, the backbone of Shiratorizawa Ushijima Wakatoshi, who laid with the weight of the world on top of his shoulders, finally broke.
-
-
Tendou hadn't seen or heard from Ushijima since he left him alone in the bathroom. He had not come downstairs for the evening meal nor had he come to Tendou’s dorm for the rice and mangas and he was starting to worry.
Tendou could not help but think of every single worst-case scenario. He knew he told Ushijima to come to him rather than Tendou going to Ushijima to comfort him, but he was concerned for his boyfriend.
With every worst-case scenario still running through his head, Tendou took off to find Ushijima. He first checked the cuddle zone but found it empty and unlocked. Tendou knew Ushijima would not dare break curfew and leave the academy after hours, so that narrowed Tendou’s search down. Tendou searched in classrooms and the library for him but alas no luck. He was starting to panic and the only other place Tendou had not checked was Ushijima’s dorm room.
Tendou ran as fast as he could to Ushijima’s dorm room, nearly knocking someone out on the way. But, he had no time to worry about that, and soon he found himself gasping for breath outside of Ushijima’s dorm room. Once he caught his breath, he could hear muffled sobs coming from the room and he could tell that it was Ushijima. Ushijima had never cried in front of him before, but he knew what Ushijimas roommate’s cries sounded like and they were decidedly not quiet and muffled.
Tendou could not wait any longer and slowly opened the dorm room. Ushijima often left it unlocked because Tendou would sneak in in the middle of the night after a nightmare to seek comfort in the captain. He quietly closed the door and made his way to his crying boyfriend.
Upon hearing footsteps, Ushijima had forced the sobs down and remained very still. If someone found him crying, he was done for. He didn’t know what to expect from the mystery person and it scared him. Not that he would let it show, though.
However, he was not expecting Tendou to climb into his bed, pull Ushijima onto his chest, and wrap his arms around his waist
“How did you-” Ushijima whispered, voice just above a whisper. He was afraid he’d break then and there in his lover’s arms.
“Shhh Toshi, that doesn’t matter. I’m here now. It’s okay you can let it all out. I’m here love, I’ll put you back together I promise. Semi is an idiot. By the way, I gave him a black eye. Anyway, you were the reason we were able to go to nationals. You’re the best ace and the best boyfriend anyone could ever ask for”
After years of pain and suffering, Ushijima finally allowed himself to be comforted and break in his lover’s arms.
All his life, Ushijima was conditioned to believe that expressing his emotions was a sign of inferiority and weakness. He was made to believe he was a burden and a disappointment because he was left-handed.
But with the help of his boyfriend and teammates (Semi included), the broken wall that made up Ushijima Wakatoshi . . .
. . . Could finally be rebuilt.

The peculiar case of Tadashi Yamaguchi
Fandom: Haikyuu (My contribution for the @hqurbanfantasybang) Type: Chaptered (3/3 - 40.1k words total) // Urban Fantasy AU ; University AU Focus: Unknown Species!Yamaguchi (Yamaguchi/Kuro/Bokuto friendship/support/mentorship) Ships: TsukiYama, BokuAka, KuroKen, IwaOi & DaiSuga; implied LevYaku, UshiTen, KageHina & MatsuHana Rating: Mature (descriptions of blood and injuries & explicit language)
Summary: Tadashi Yamaguchi has problems. As in: A lot. People can't stop reminding him that he smells tasty and they'd like to eat him. His best friend and he are indirectly responsible for burning down their previous university. He can't figure out how to stop turning orange whenever he's nervous, keeps hitting his antlers on the lintel and the lion's tail growing out his back seems to have developed a mind of its own. Oh, and of course there is that cute but grouchy med student vampire living across the hall who he is crushing on hard but doesn't have the courage to ask out! On top of everything he now has to transfer to a new uni and try to survive campus chaos. Luckily, a pixie with chronic bed-hair and a shapeshifter who transforms into a duck rather than an owl whenever he's upset, decide to take him on and teach Tadashi some confidence. Inbetween mysterious mentors, headless centaurs, annoyed dragons, hungry werewolves, kickboxing archangels, literal gods and sassy half-ghosts he isn't quite sure if they are actually helping his increasing anxiety attacks, but hey... it's the effort that counts, isn't it?

Read on Ao3 -> The peculiar case of Tadashi Yamaguchi
Preview:
“So, tomorrow is the big day, isn’t it?” Yachi asks and Tadashi takes a sip of tea.
There is nothing better than a witch’s homemade tea, even if the blonde’s speciality is time-based magic and not herbology.
“Yeah,” he nods and shudders.
“You got this!” she reassures him, but her own hands clench nervously around her cup as she goes on, “I mean Central is a big uni with lots of people - you can blend into the herd and nobody will notice you, that’s good, isn’t it? It has to be good!”
“I hope you are right,” Tadashi sighs. “I still wish I could have joined your uni” - ‘If only it wasn’t a damn expensive, super fancy, private one!’
The two of them met about a year ago, in the bathroom of another uni out of town. Both of them had been invited to an application interview and both of them had been so nervous they needed to throw up. Eventually, they bonded over rinsing their mouths at the uni-sex sinks. When Tadashi was in need of a place to live, Yachi volunteered to vouch for him with her landlord who owned several flats in this building, the one he is living in now included and since it’s one of the smallest it’s surprisingly affordable.
It’s not like his family is poor, they get by quite well, but Tadashi doesn’t want to be a financial burden on his mothers any more than he already is, since his tendency to attract trouble in combination with his non-existent self-confidence has gotten him either denied or fired from every job he’s had so far.
“Me too - then I wouldn’t be so alone in my design classes anymore,” she frowns into her cup. “But doesn’t Tsukishima-San goes to Central as well? Maybe you could stick to him and - oh”
From the look on his face, she must have deducted that plan already went down the drain - rather spectacularly if he might say so. Yachi is well aware of Tadashi’s crush on the blond vampire. He appreciates her attempts to help and her encouragements every time he gets flat out ignored in his attempts to organise something that could count as a date if you just squint hard enough!

Haikyuu!! Observations: Ushijima x Sakusa, Ft. Komori and Tendo
Tumblr media
**SPOILERS FOR ANIME ONLY’S BELOW**
Okay, am I about to dive into a lengthy post about why UshiSaku may be endgame in Haikyuu!! and how Tendo may be the best wing man for it all?
Uhm, yes. Yes, I am, so bear with me.
I’ve been stewing on this for a while now, so there’s a lot to cover in this post.  Let’s dive in!
Ushijima and Sakusa’s Parallels
Okay, first things’s first -- let’s talk about Ushijima, Sakusa, and the parallels the Manga has made with them. Starting with their views of Shoyo Hinata.  Let’s begin with Ushijima. While the stereotypical characterization of Ushijima is to make him completely stoic and unfeeling, Ushijima DOES have emotional responses, especially in the manga -- for example, his reaction on the court to Hinata is MUCH stronger than I believe the anime shows:
Tumblr media
This is developed further in the Shiratorizawa vs. Karasuno match -- as Ushijima struggles with the fact that Hinata is not a skilled player -- he just has natural athleticism and his actions are half “luck” and half the gutsy collaboration of his actions alongside the “reckless” and “wild” other players of Karasuno.
This idea of “luck,” interestingly enough, will come back with Ushijima nearly 200 chapters later...but we do establish here, that Ushijima is the type of person that admires and respects strength, and efforts that are backed by natural talent and disciplined training. It’s only natural that Hinata frustrates him, because at this point in the manga, Hinata and “disciplined training” aren’t exactly words that go together (more on that below).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Verrry similarly, Sakusa has no room for people who lack discipline, though his “discipline” relates more to personal health than just physical preparation for a game. This comes in direct focus in a flashback during the Black Jackal vs Adlers game, when it shows Sakusa first meeting Hinata. Unlike Ushijima, it doesn’t seem like he “hates” Hinata, just has absolutely no desire to be around someone that lets themselves get sick...and he only allows himself to be open to Hinata as a teammate after Hinata expresses that he has indeed grown up since High School.
Tumblr media
The manga also points to parallels of how they handle defeat, showing both Ushijima remaining proud and quiet after their loss to Karasuno, only quietly declaring to Hinata and Kageyama that he would “beat” them again --
Tumblr media
While with Sakusa, he’s more vocal in his musings about losing, in Chapter 368 stating that it would hurt more to be pitied, especially when you did all you could do, and still suffered a defeat. Itachiyama losing their setter could be viewed as “bad luck” in the final set, but Sakusa points to luck not having so much bearing as just it being the result of fate and unstoppable forces in the moment. Ever the realist, Sakusa...(again, more on “luck” below).
Tumblr media
Sakusa objectively presents the fact that they lost in very simplistic, albeit nihilistic terms, and similarly, Ushijima doesn’t shy away from using objective information and putting things in simplistic terms without hyperbole. This can be seen through his conversation with Goshiki below.
Tumblr media
Ushijima and Sakusa’s “Type”
So, if we’re going to even possibly ship these characters together...does it work? It becomes clear, through the manga and anime, though that both Ushijima and Sakusa admire players who are powerful, can present a legitimate challenge to them, and therefore spurn them to become stronger players, too.
Tumblr media
Both Ushijima and Sakusa are portrayed as incredibly strong right out the gate in the manga, which makes sense as both are in the Top Three Aces for high school volleyball. However, unlike Kiryu (the #2 Ace that is depicted as more down-to-earth, friendly, compassionate, and relatable to our other protagonists), both Sakusa and Ushijima have “colossal protagonist” vibes -- seeming larger than life, incredibly stoic, and emotionally distant to others on their team, even if they are around them constantly.
Tumblr media
And then, concerning Sakusa...there’s the infamous Chapter 394.
If anything has established what Sakusa’s “Type” would be, it would be these two panels. Ushijima is checking off all of the boxes for Sakusa: Understands personal hygiene? Check. Someone offering Sakusa a challenge as a competitor, and motivating him to keep moving forward and practicing? Check!
Tumblr media
Chapter 394 answers many questions, and points us to the observation of:
Sakusa’s “Pining”
Furudate, we see Sakusa lazer-focused on Ushijima from the other side of the court...you’re not fooling us:
Tumblr media
Hey, remember where the mystery of Sakusa and Ushijima’s relationship began? Waaaaay back, after the Shiratorizawa match, after the Fukurodani/Nekoma matches; at the start of the National Japan training camp that Kageyama attended in Chapter 209.
A camp, where it was noted by Karasuno, that Ushijima had been the chosen representative of their prefecture for at least the last year.
And who is the first person Kageyama runs into at this camp?
Tumblr media
And the first thing Sakusa states isn’t a proper greeting, it’s not about how they beat Shiratorizawa...it’s how the team “somehow” beat WAKATOSHI-KUN.
The next time we get interactions from Sakusa, he immediately jumps on the offensive, DEMANDING to know who the player was that led to Shiratorizawa’s downfall:
Tumblr media
It’s interesting that Kageyama implies the “entire” team was responsible for Ushijima’s defeat on the page before this one below, but of course, Kiyoomi does not pick up on this. Then, leave it to Komori to come in with the save. Again, tying Kiyoomi to being a “realist,” which will come into play below.
Tumblr media
So, it isn’t until Chapter 394 that we learn about Sakusa’s long-standing history of playing Ushijima in various matches, developing this competitive rivalry with him that has been going on since middle school. Ushijima is literally the one obstacle that he finds himself unable to surpass; the one piece of the puzzle he can’t put into place yet.
It’s no wonder the fact that someone defeated him irked him so much.
We get a little more context from Komori on Sakusa and Ushijima’s rivalry, and more on the flashback on their Nationals loss which will tie into my last point.
Tumblr media
Motoya Komori
I would be remiss not to bring up Motoya Kamori’s role in all this.
I think it’s verrrrrry interesting the route Furudate chose with Komori, specifically in revealing that he’s Kiyoomi’s cousin.
This makes a LOT of sense, considering how closed off and antisocial Sakusa is. It justifies not only why Komori is so keen to stick by Sakusa’s side, despite his seeming apathy towards his presence, but it also justifies why Kiyoomi even sticks with Komori: he really doesn’t have a choice. Komori’s family.
Tumblr media
Side Note: Ever get the impression that Komori and Kageyama could be a fun friendship/pairing? I mean, the top setter and top libero? Komori seems genuinely friendly with Kageyama, both at the training camp and when they see each other at Nationals, commenting on Sakusa being out of his element...
Tumblr media
...Juuuuust a crack pairing side note! Spread the word! Now, back to the post!
Tumblr media
Komori becomes our main expositor about Sakusa in Chapter 394, noting how osbsessive compulsive he is, especially in finishing anything he starts. It’s just an odd choice for me, to make Komori his cousin. True, it goes against the stereotype that all family HAS to look or act like each other, and it does make sense to why their friendship is so strong.
It’s just a move that Furudate hasn’t pulled the entire manga, and it comes right at the end of the series...and it disrupts Furudate’s tactic of giving us characters in “pairs” that, as some reactors have noted, are ripe for instant shipping.
Coincidentally, right as we start to make connections between Sakusa and Ushijima. It’s almost as if Furudate sank the Komori x Sakusa ship with revealing their relationship, just in time to reveal the answer to our mystery of why Sakusa refers to Ushijima in such a familiar way...and let that ship sail. How poetic.
Tumblr media
Also, if you wanted to know WHY Komori is so good at being a libero, look at this page below. I mean, if YOU had to practice non-stop with the Top Ace in the nation, receiving his spikes, you can only imagine that you’d be amazing at the sport.
I also like how this page points out how, despite Sakusa also having a physical trait that makes him stand out -- like Ushijima -- in contrast, it seems Sakusa’s “oddity” was instantly accepted among his peers and he didn’t face much resistance to it. Of course, this also could be because Komori notes Sakusa wasn’t close with his “much older” and “much busier” family.
Tumblr media
Tendo’s Friendship
And, tying this all together, of course, is Tendo’s involvement.
I love chapter 176 and this part of the anime, where we actually get backstory on Ushijima. I love that Tendo is pretty much his “true” friend in this series, as he actually is one of the few at Shiratorizawa to take the time to ask questions and get to know Ushijima.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chapter 176 is a big source of material for people shipping Tendo and Ushijima together, and I’ll be honest -- until Sakusa came into the picture, I was right there with you all. Tendo shows genuine concern and sincerity in his conversations with Ushijima off the court, and on the court, he’s practically the ONLY character on Shiratorizawa’s team, and in the whole manga (other than Oikawa) that calls Ushijima out and isn’t afraid to tease him.
Tumblr media
Of course, in the end, Tendo is just as impressed and in awe of Ushijima’s raw athletic talent. It’s likely this page that fuels a lot of the ship:
Tumblr media
And, even later on, Ushijima borrows Tendo’s words to reveal to the team how much he’s enjoying the match, much to their surprise and Tendo’s delight.
Tumblr media
So yes, Chapter 176 I believe started the UshiTen ship, and it does become more compounded in the infamous “Boy Ball Arc” before Spring Nationals, as we learn in Chapter 210 about Tendo and Ushijima’s friendship off the court in more detail; one example being them sharing Shonen Jump magazines...
Tumblr media
...and another being that they hang out during the practice matches, with Tendo being pretty much the only one talking to Ushijima in a casual setting.
I’d like to point out that while some see this in Chapter 214 below as a “ship” moment, I did start to question if the two were just friends when Tendo likens Ushijima to a “monster” like Hinata and Kageyama. To me, this banter reveals that Tendo, ironically referred to as a monster himself, doesn’t put himself in the same league or category as Ushijima. This is also reflected in how Tendo notes he’s not pursuing volleyball after high school, but hopes that Ushijima ends up becoming famous and interviews him as his best friend.
Tumblr media
And this leads to the final point, which I think cements Tendo’s status as Ushijima’s best friend...but nothing more. Maybe. Perhaps. We’ll see.
We get the reveal in Chapter 395 that during Ushijima’s first few years post-high school, he didn’t constantly keep in contact with Tendo. We know this because Ushijima hasn’t mentioned his trip to the United States to Tendo, which had happened three months prior. So some time has passed there.
Of course, that doesn’t mean Tendo hasn’t kept caught up on Ushijima’s Pro Volleyball career, as that’s his reason for calling Ushijima in the first place.
Tumblr media
I like that Tendo offers Ushijima advice and genuinely asks how his family is doing, specifically his father, whom Ushijima went overseas to visit with his father. Even if it has been a while since they’ve talked, you can tell that they are close enough friends that everything seems to pick right back up where it left off for them, which is true for many real-life friendships, and I appreciate Furudate giving us that here, and expanded on more years later, below.
Tumblr media
I love this page of Chapter 402. Especially Shiribu’s little crush of Ushijima, as he “shhh”’s Semi.
Not only because it reverses Tendo’s original prophecy that it would be himself interviewed as the famous Ushijima’s friend, but also that it cements their friendship. I mean, Ushijima flew to PARIS for the interview. I know that in itself could be considered shipper fodder, but the fact that they identify as best friends...it just fits them so well. And I could see Tendo talking with Ushijima on late night phone calls to talk him through his dating, or lack thereof, woes.
Also, let it be known these men are the most stylish in Haikyuu!! They should work with Asahi.
Tumblr media
Also, also, Tendo’s favorite food is chocolate ice cream. That should have been all the foreshadowing we needed for his future career, right? ^^
Black Jackals vs Adlers
So, that leaves us with the meat of the UshiSaku ship: the Adlers vs Black Jackals match, and the final chapter 402. In Chapter 394, we establish Sakusa’s backstory and the potential pining he’s done for Ushijima the last ten years of his life, starting with this page:
Tumblr media
Again, tying back to being “lucky.” I like that despite how Ushijima couldn’t comprehend where Hinata attained all of his athleticism and lamented how half of his plays were just “lucky” and a combined effort of him and his teammates, in the end, Ushijima admits here that he himself is rather “lucky” he won the luck of the draw athletically and was born with a particular trait that made him excel in the game (that being lefthanded). Sakusa, incidentally, falls into the same category, though he doesn’t quite admit it as such.
I like that we see these two actually interacting side-by-side, as equals, a visual I think Furudate designs intentionally. Unlike Tendo, who doesn’t situation himself in the same realm as Ushijima, Sakusa positions himself right in the same sphere, of the “Monster Generation.”
Tumblr media
By the end of Chapter 394, Sakusa reflects on his own “luck.” In how he is lucky to have been given life -- reflected with a picture of Komori, his family -- to have met people -- reflected by Ushijima specifically -- and to still be playing volleyball -- reflected by his old high school setter, whom went on to play in the Division 1 league after his own injury. His views of “luck” are all represented in ideally, the people that mean most to him...and Ushijima is one of them.
Sakusa also describes his “Ideal Last Game,” which could be represented by the game being played in that moment. It’s beautiful that someone who is so germaphobic and hyper-obsessive with controlling the atmosphere around him (who he comes in contact with, how he finishes everything he starts), is also so content and at ease on a volleyball court, where nothing is in his control but his own body and the contact he makes with the ball. And it also helps that he’s surrounded by amazing players, like Ushijima, here, to keep him rising to the next challenge --
Tumblr media
-- which ends up coming his way in the very next Chapter, as Ushijima (coincidentally right after Sakusa) has his “moment” of reflection and growth put on display. Of course, Sakusa isn’t “finished” with catching up to Ushijima yet, as his cousin snidely reminds him with a laugh, here. I love that we see Ushijima smile, though, at Sakusa’s effort.
Tumblr media
Speaking of “Effort,” that ties into later in Chapter 400, when we have Sakusa’s own high school banner for Itachiyama put on display. It’s a simple motto, that goes alongside Shiratorizawa’s in “Be Strong.” I also like here, that in contrast to Chapter 395, when Ushijima was smiling at Sakusa, who couldn’t bump his spike, in Chapter 400, we have Sakusa getting the spin off of Ushijima’s hand, and as he lands, he gives a little smirk to a disgruntled Ushijima.
LITERALLY, these two have only truly smiled during a game at each other. Sure, each have scowled and showed irritation and drive towards facing opponents, but have we seen them “smile” at another in the midst of a game? Not really, unless you count Sakusa getting that service ace before Atsumu Miya in this same game...
Tumblr media
Speaking of Atsumu Miya, we’ll talk about him a little bit below. But for now, I like that Sakusa describes that there’s no “room for anything that disgusts me” on the court in a pro volleyball game. Everyone is at their fullest potential and peak physical condition, just like Sakusa, and they all have worked diligently to get to that position.
We don’t get much other UshiSaku crumbs post Chapter 400, although, I would like to point out that Furudate, when drawing the National Japan Olympic Team, placed these two right next to each other. You know...for no reason, I’m sure.
Tumblr media
And yes, I would be remiss not to mention this tiny panel -- the last we see of Sakusa or Ushijima or Atsumu Miya, I believe -- as it’s Sakusa that digs up Oikawa’s insane serve. I just LOVE the smile that Ushijima has here as Sakusa digs it. Because unlike Sakusa and Atsumu Miya, Ushijima knows exactly what kind of player Oikawa was in the past, and no doubt knows the kind of plays he could pull off...so I’d imagine he’s proud that his teammate dug up this serve right off the bat.
I know there are a lot of people that ship AtsuSaku, and I won’t deny you that Furudate has laid out crumbs for them as well...but I sort of view Miya with Sakusa the same way I view Tendo with Ushijima at the end of the day: as best friends. I definitely think that there is a hilarious friendship angle with Sakusa and Atsumu Miya -- but I think it’s Ushijima that is the player Sakusa is always going to try and beat and surpass...you could argue, very similar to the dynamic between Hinata and Kageyama in their rivalry...albeit, I think Sakusa’s hints more deliberately at something more...but that’s just my opinion.
Tumblr media
In the end, I find it interesting the decisions Furudate makes to show us these characters and specific interactions at the end of the series; specifically, showing Ushijima and Sakusa’s backstories back-to-back, and with all the little glances and panels of them near or looking towards one another. But hey, shippers will see what shippers want to see, right?
I do think that Komori’s panel here in Chapter 394 is pretty telling, though:
Tumblr media
Sakusa has identified Ushijima as someone he wants to beat and surpass, and he’s not going to stop until he does. And if there are feelings beyond that...well...he’s not going to stop until “he’s satisfied” with that, either.
At least, according to Chapter 378, Ushijima’s already got his flu shot.
I hope you all enjoyed this little dive into this bizarre pairing in Haikyuu!! I’ve wanted to break this apart for a while, and now that the manga is over, I hope to do more of these types of posts with other pairings. Until next time, we can celebrate the ship that is UshiSaku (and KomoYama/KageMori -- pass it on!) with fan fiction and fan art to our heart’s content! ^^

The past few years for Tendou Satori haven’t been easy for him and he’s well aware of that. After a few fuck ups and a new reality, he finds himself in deep struggle and with an extra mouth to feed as well as piling up bills and debt, he’s been finding it hard to stay afloat.
The past few years for Ushijima Wakatoshi haven’t been all that great either. Even though he landed his dream job of being a professional volleyball player and more than he could ever ask for in life, there is still a void. A void that hasn’t been filled in years and eats his buried feelings alive.
They always say that when you’re destined to be with someone love always finds a way to make it work. Will love have its way with these two and succeed or will these two souls forever be confined to the hardship and struggle that surrounds their worlds?

"Ray... Norman... are you really dead? You can't be... no... you're alive... but where are you? WHERE ARE YOU?!" --------------------------------------------- Norman and Ray are dead. They died. Norman was eaten. Ray committed suicide. Emma survived. She was alive. And then she wasn't. And in her place, was Hinata Shouyou, Number 10 on the Karasuno High Boys Volleyball Team.
He never really let go of the past. He sits, alone, in his room every day for an hour, without fail, doing something or the other, and not allowing anyone else near him.
And one day, at a training camp, if he finds something, something big and starts acting suspicious? His team will be onto him quicker than a wildfire. And sooner than he might like, his past will be bare for the world to see.
Will they accept him? Or will they cast him away?
