Tsukasa works FOR Sakura

Now this is very likely me just being slow and not connecting the dots until now, but chapter 109 has made me realise that Tsukasa is not the one in charge of the "destroy all yorishiros" plan... It's Sakura.

It's this line here that's made me finally see the light, Tsukasa has to "help Sakura, by destroying the yorishiro." He is not actively desiring the yorishiro to be destroyed, he's just doing his part in the plan. In chapter 106, he wasn't even phased that Nene didn't want to destroy the yorishiro and the only reason he persisted was because it was "his job."

Even way back in chapter 93, Sumire describes Sakura as the one No. 6 serves. Sakura gave him the job of destroying his own yorishiro, not Tsukasa.

Sakura is the one who wants the yorishiros destroyed, she's been trapped inside the school for 100 years and is tired of it. She wants to leave whatever duty is keeping her bound

And she is more than willing to make sacrifices to make her wish come true

Sakura is behind everything, she is the reason that Tsukasa was freed from where he was trapped (very likely Hanako's boundary).

She is also the one altering the rumours.

Tsukasa, as cunning and intelligent as he may be, is probably a bit too impulsive to be the brains behind the entire operation. His intense curiosity for things would likely get in the way, no matter how well he means or how serious he's being.

And again, it's clear Tsukasa is not as invested in destroying the yorishiros as we are initially led to believe. Again, he really doesn't mind that Nene no longer wants to destroy yorishiros anymore

In fact, it's Natsuhiko who worries Nene won't destroy them. Keep in mind Natsuhiko is 100% loyal to Sakura and not necessarily to Tsukasa. If this was Tsukasa's plan, I doubt he would be worrying over whether Nene will keep doing her part as the kannagi

The only reason we even initially thought this was all Tsukasa's doing, was because Sakura painted a picture that she was in a similar situation to Nene.

Sakura gives the impression that she can't go against Tsukasa, that he is her master. But that can't be right, because we know Sakura was the one who appointed the 7 mysteries in the first place. And she was also the one who freed Tsukasa, so how could he be the "master" in this relationship?

I think, Sakura said all this to gain Nene's trust.

Nene, being the modern kannagi, is absolutely vital in the plan to destroy the yorishiros. So having her trust Sakura would help out immensely.

So overall, whether it's the price he's paying for having been freed-- or for some other reason entirely-- it's quite clear to me now that Tsukasa is not the one in charge of the "destroy the 7 mysteries" plan. He's absolutely a major key player, with his cunning and curious mind clearly being an advantage (figured out the fastest and easiest route to stopping time so he could access the clock-keeper's boundary with Nene). But he is doing all of this to help Sakura, it's not for himself.

So, we know now that the Apogee Solstice is perpetual. To no one's surprise, I've got thoughts.

First, I don't think this was an intentional effect of the Malleus Key. It's a massively wide-reaching effect. We know that the destruction of Domunas was a large effect, and more active, but it only took a single moment of power. Actually holding the leylines and planar boundaries in alignment seemingly across Exandria (which we can infer is happening, on a meta level) for this long is well beyond that single moment of power.

My guess is that Ludinus intended to shatter the prison in one massive blast, like destroying Domunas to destroy the primordials, and he didn't quite get it right due to the sabotage from the Hells and Beau and Caleb.

That being said, we know also that a number of magical effects aren't working. Anything that travels across a distance or among planes fails, including, as we've learned, the retrieval of souls. Spells that are working are ones that happen instantly and locally, and ones with ongoing effects have been failing over time.

Teleportation circles were suggested to have been destroyed pretty rapidly, whereas long-term wards and transmutations are eroding over time. (Has anyone checked on Lionel of the Darrington Brigade recently?) These longer-term passive magical effects may get some amount of phantom power from the weave/leylines, enough to maintain the effect once the effect is in place.

We also know that the gods are still there, but they feel more distant, less present. However, we know that the leylines are stuck in their aligned state, that the planes should be in fact more easily accessible, because we know what great workings of planar magic can be achieved during an Apogee Solstice.

And, to return to the beacon, we know that there was spatiotemporal magic involved in whatever effect presumably both scattered the Hells (and possibly everyone else in that cavern) and froze the leylines in their aligned state, which is in essence all that an Apogee Solstice is. And the beacon is an artifact that has a great deal of magical power, which is often beyond the capabilities to control of even the mages of the Age of Arcanum, if the notes from the T-Dock in Aeor were any indication.

My thought, then, is that perhaps the Material Plane is out of sync temporally with the rest of the universe. Whether this is a semi-conscious action of whatever the entity of the Luxon is, or a passive effect of the beacon, it's possible that magic is fizzling out into static not because there is no magic to be had, but because any magic that has to travel across the leylines to create an effect, or draw magic from the leylines, finds itself in a temporal morass.

It's Interesting that the capybara was really trying to kill cellbit, It blew him up 3 times to murder him like It was Elquackity and the federation plan to kill him there, but since the explosion didn't work they used the capybara to finish the job. But if this is true and Cellbit is being treated as a prime target, the federation is playing his game. Cellbit only became a candidate to serve as a target and Forever's meat shield. While they are spending their plans and time to kill him, they are doing exactly what he wants since he doesn't want to be president. The longer cellbit survives, the longer he will draw the attention of the federation, which seems to want to focus on him, making the other candidates safer.

Unrelated question - mostly - but why is it common fanon to depict Noir as the more scarred up of various spiderpeople? Naturally everyone has their fair share of fights, though the only we see sustaining any marks is Peter B and his misaligned nose. Personally, I've taken it as Noir Peter not healing as cleanly due to it being Spider God stuff over Weird Radioactive Healing Factor stuff. Thoughts?

i’m not a devout spidey comic/movie fan or a doctor. this is based on conjecture and minimal research!

when i came up with my unmasked noir ideas, i wasn’t influenced by fanon—i hadn’t seen any other fan art, not even when itsv came out. but i can think of a good few reasons that scarred noir is a popular headcanon: evidence of what he’s been through makes him feel more tangible/relatable, the visual difference enhances his thematic individuality as distinct from other spider-people (especially other Peter Parkers), self-consciousness can explain why he doesn’t take off his mask in itsv even around other spiders.

all perfectly valid and interesting reasons! but the first two reasons are doylist and the last one is missing a crucial question: why does he have scars? unless a wound is severe, gets infected, or gets lucky, it won’t usually scar. facial injuries especially need to be really bad to leave a mark. and of course most if not all other spider-people have the healing factor. so what gives??

i like the spider god’s curse influences healing factor idea; it opens up some nice angsty possibilities regarding an inability to Be “Fixed;” no matter how much he tries, he can’t erase/forget what’s happened to him. but i also enjoy the bandaging someone up after a fight genre of fic, and am annoyingly pedantic, so my personal working theory is that the healing factor is not a doctor with ten plus years of experience and an accurate understanding of human anatomy. when a bone really badly breaks, it has to be reset or it’ll heal wrong. to me, the healing factor doesn’t know what ‘right’ is, only ‘fast’ and ‘effective.’ it’s an accelerant, not a substitute for medicine.

so let’s establish the baseline. modern spideys either receive modern medical attention or the injury is superficial enough that they don’t require it. even poverty-stricken peter parkers get rushed to the hospital, because fictional doctors Don’t Care About The Money and/or peter is dolled up in spider gear and who’s going to ignore a visibly beat-up celebrity hero?? plus i honestly believed peter b’s nose was just genetics or smthn. my nose is misaligned and it’s never been broken to my knowledge

to compare, noir lives in 1933 and, far as i can tell, doesn’t rlly garner the same fame and respect from the public as modern spideys do. in the 30s, medicine was meh (they had x-rays but didn’t rlly consider radiation much of a threat, penicillin was still in its infancy, polio was a huge threat, etc) but was also, more importantly, far too expensive for most people suffering during the Great Depression. whatever treatment noir receives after a fight, if any, would look way different from ours. that means his healing factor, which can’t differentiate scars from normal skin or a misaligned bone from a whole one, would be inefficiently assisted or left alone. it would leave its history behind.

on the infectious disease side of things, it’s probably much easier for even noir to recover from less physical ailments like the flu and pneumonia—spider healing factor likely remembers and codes for immunity better than regular immune systems—but without modern drug therapies he’d still be worse for wear, ie internal scarring. mans would have a shorter-than-average parker lifespan if not for the pseudo-immortality of the Spider God

anyway. all this to say, here’s my personal map of parker’s scars. crop tank and daisy dukes to keep tumblr off my ass <3

My personal Theory/Headcanon for the seasonal courts in acotar

I like to think that the seasonal court’s actually do have seasons, its just not as varied as normal seasons.

for example (i will be using our months and for reference i live in the northern hemisphere)

Spring- During the typical spring months (march-may) its very well. spring. Very average spring temps at 50-60 Fahrenheit, lots of spring showers but low humidity, very misty in the morning. Now in summer (june-mid september) it gets a bit more humid, temps peaking at probably 80-ish, theres less rain-showers but when it does rain its very dramatic storms. Fall (mid september-mid november) is similar to typical spring, its the period where plants start to ‘die off’ and stuff starts fresh. it gets a bit colder but never super cold and humidity goes back down. Winter (november-february) is the coldest with lows in roughly the 40s, its very foggy in the mornings and early afternoon.

While I'm still mentally screaming about the My Policeman red carpet look I also wanna point out a possible intentional difference between the Don't Worry Darling and MP looks for both the press conference and red carpet.

DWD press conference (left) vs MP press conference (right), basically here the why i think he might be comparing the two if you will through outfits: the jackets are the same but in another color. And the same goes for the red carpet looks. It's pretty simple lol, but lemme explain... Remember he (and Lambert) have done so before, at the 2021 Grammy's for instance, where Lambert explained they went for "polar opposite" looks while keeping the same silhouette, and here I think something similar has been done again. (that's also what got me started on that fking color negatives bs but this isn't about that but it's part of the post so there's that) Pretty much the story is in the difference between the two, the one helps puts emphasis on the significance of the other.

So I mean find symbolism in this the way you want to, I'm seeing a look for DWD that looks like a policeman. It looks to me like he's found a way (for himself) to put on display how he's both. DWD = work, like Tom is the policeman, and THEN there's MP, something he's passionate about, and we see the second, the green outfit, as displayed pretty much embodying a green carnation (symbolizing queerness, esp mlm), paralleling Tom who loves a man. Basically, the green carnation look is appropriate and related to the MP premiere, to his character in the movie, but by taking the look of a policeman out of that situation, and into the DWD premiere, he's added that layer of him. And not just that, also incorporating those classic (peace ring, blue+green) details we we've grown to understand symbolise his relationship with some lad dude yk.

goncharov is fascinating to dissect as a communications student.

to truly understand how goncharov came to be you have to look at tumblr as its own ecosystem first and how it deals with memes, inside jokes, and how it views media in general. then you get to the user bases social spheres and how they're divided and how they overlap. if you want to be thorough you could also add in a brief history on fandom (specifically western english speaking fandom) and introduce specific tumblr fandom just to really set goncharov up. this might include supernatural, superwholock, dracula daily, and how fandom Can be incredibly divorced from the source material.

and then discuss the history of goncharov via shoe, and its spread two years later through thorough research of what the first popular posts on it were to the subsequent adoption of goncharov as a real film due to the original posts popularity and the fact that a lot of people already know about the joke and explanation behind the shoe. this leads to fanmade posters, in-depth analyses and escalates to widely agreed upon character casts, original osts, fake vhs tapes and many users agreeing that it's real because everyone wants to be part of the joke.

there should also be explanations that this may not be entirely comfortable for the entire population of tumblr because it may be hard to differentiate fact from fiction when a frightening amount of people claims it to be real when it actually isn't.

this event also coincidences with the apparent mass exodus of twitter users to tumblr since it's seen as a good alternative due to the former site and app appearing to be highly unstable at the moment due to new management. tumblr was seen as a "dead" social media site by the vast majority of users before but with the rise of goncharov and with twitter users using both sites now, tumblr gains traction as a somewhat puzzling yet captivating social media site. tumblr management uses the rise of goncharov as a marketing strategy fkr their own site since tumblr's well defining characteristic is that it is a site with inside jokes that only tumblr users may only understand.

at this point i'm not entirely sure what this paper would really focus on but i know there's something in that that could be used to make the most insane paper my 50 year old professor would read in a while
