Preliminary Round: Final Fantasy
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda Below cut
Alisaie
When she first shows up she's wearing matching outfits and wielding matching grimoires with her twin brother, but when she properly joins the game's main cast it becomes clear that she has swordswoman energy so incredibly strong that as a magical prodigy her chosen fighting style is "manifest sword out of aether and then hit people with it." She later simplifies this to merely wielding a sicknasty crystal rapier; As we know, fury and compassionate outrage are more powerful under when concentrated, which makes this tiny elf sword nerd a volatile pressurecooker of heroism. She's here to care about the little guy, make frustrated noises, and charge off to solve and/or cause problems, and truly what else is swordswoman energy about?
She wanted to use a sword so bad she summoned one made of pure magic, before a friend gave her an actual sword because he was worried about the toll summoning a sword made of pure magic was having on her, I love her and her brother so much. One of them is trans (they did the identical but different-gender twins thing). At one point Alisaie mopes because her and her brother didn't get new outfits when everyone else did. She then jumps off of a balcony because she saw an opportunity for adventure. Canonically doesn't like pickles on burgers (she put them on someone else's plate!! the scandal!!)
Lucia
she fights with a sword and shield— very classic paladin flavor. she’s achieved and maintained high ranking status for her combat prowess!; nobody is immune to hot lady knight especially when she is over six feet tall and in full plate armor tbh . easily the hottest defector from the evil empire in xiv. also she can pilot a big robot so that’s automatically a point in her favor imo
Mylla
She's the leader of the gladiator's guild. Gladiators are the class that use swords and shields. She kind of gets sidelined once it upgrades to the Paladin job for a bit, but then they went 'no Mylla and her guild are cooler than these idiots' and did a tournament arc
Lightning
She uses a Gunblade. A sword thats also a gun. Said to be very rare because it takes so much skill to use. Does lots of slashing and backflips. Later becomes Champion of A God and sword fights a guy for eternity. Later becomes champion of a Different god and uses lots of different swords; She is dramatic and has lots of character growth and is awesome.
Agrias
She has the class Holy Knight which enables her to use Holy Sword techniques as long as she has a sword equipped, which pretty much makes her the most powerful swordfighter your party can recruit (with the exception of Cidolfus Orlandeau, who has her skillset plus extra); You meet Agrias at the start of the game, and it's a few chapters before she joins your party permanently during which she gets quite a bit of screentime. This is significant, since Tactics lets you dismiss any character that's not the protagonist, and consequently the story is written to not assume you have any particular character in your party except for guests, meaning Agrias gets more story time than most characters that join your party.
Paine
starts out as a swordfighter with a big sword with a skull design. #girlboss; ffx-2 is a Wild Ride already but that they gave us a goth lesbian with a sword as our third party member was a great choice. i love her and also ffx-2. it's underappreciated.
Terra
Swords are one kind of weapon she can wield. Her ultimate weapon is known as Apocalypse.
Celes
She was turned into a Magitek knight by the Gestahlian Empire which she betrays. Swords are one kind of weapon she can wield. Her ultimate weapon is a sword known as Save the Queen.

Round 1: Match 27 of 64
Tumblr media
Why they deserve to be the ultimate wizard according to YOU:
Moraine:
“Hot and powerful”
Navani:
“She's a genius magitech artisan. she discovered two types of antimatter and INVENTED MAGIC AIRSHIPS”
“Navani's finest wizardly qualifications include that she is an engineer and scholar of magic, who joyfully spends her time inventing new types of magitech (for example, a device designed to lessen pain, which she has used the opposite way in a pinch).  Being a scholar is a huge part of her character, and her scholarhood is inherently centered on messing around with magic.  She's a grandma with mad scientist energy.  In her wizardly field of study, she once collaborated with, and became fast frenemies with, an immortal war criminal whose forces had imprisoned her (there were magical levels of lesbian subtext).  Her impostor syndrome might get in the way of her believing she's the ultimate wizard here, but she really does deserve the crown.”

Can we begin to have a real conversation about the intersection of radical feminism - especially feminist or lesbian separatism - and left-leaning zionism?
Both are ultimately movements that demand space and protection — separatism — from males, from gentiles.
Both make their demands in context of a long and violent history. Both demand an ending to an underlying hatred that has been passed down for generations, yet is currently being revised and erased.
Both face a regressive Western left that views most separatism as "exclusionist" and therefore inherently wrong.
Both women - relabeled as "cis women" - and Jews are viewed as being extra-privileged and an oppressor class (again, revisionism), and thus not entitled to a safe space.
Both terms have been redefined as movements led by an oppressor class (e.g., zionists colonized the middle east, radical feminists are killing transwomen) that revise history and erase the real oppressors.
For both, this has been done to create an oppressor for the group deemed to be oppressed - women for trans-identified men, jews for arabs - obfuscating the real threats and powers at play who are less vulnerable (men, british colonialism).
These leftists also often place all their energy on reinvisioning specifically the most powerful males within that class as somehow the most oppressed or righteous (autogynephile predators, terrorist gunmen) and somehow convince themselves to identify with and find compassion for the very men using an oppressed people (palestinian citizens, gender non-confirming people) to justify their violence.
For both, they've reenvisioned the oppressed in ways that become almost mystical or magical, e.g., "trans people have always been here," (which conflates gender non-conformity with modern trans ideology), revising biblical figures as Palestinians, etc.
For both, these misunderstandings (e.g., zionists are white europeans, terfs are gender essentialist bigots) reflect a deep ignorance of real zionism and real radical feminism, yet are spoken about with an absolute confidence and used as propaganda.
Screaming "fuck terfs/zionism" is used to virtue signal yourself as having the correct politics - often with other slogans that lack actual meaningful opinion (e.g., screaming free Palestine, or trans women are women ad naseum) for the sole purpose of useless political posturing.
For both, consideration that perhaps "radical feminists and/or zionists aren't evil" is viewed as a thought-crime and even as literal violence.
Both are wielded — either by their original term or by nonsensical acronym — as insults or as stand-ins for pure evil (fuck zionists, fuck terfs, etc.).
Both targets—feminists, Jews—are able to see the bigotry—anti-Semitism, misogyny—when these insults are hurled at us by the Western left.
Both face a reality in which the left has regressed so far, that some have sought refuge with right-wing Christians who share none of our values, and cause more damage than they are worth.
Identification with either will de-platform you. To exist in a leftist space, you have to rename your views to discuss them at all.
If you are a radical feminist screaming "fuck zionism" or a leftist zionist screaming "fuck terfs," ask yourself: are you examining the movement you hate with the same intellectual dishonesty that the regressive left shows you?

Is there a deeper meaning to this whole “our identities are unimportant” thing?!
Let’s start with one of those rare quotes that we have (taken from Loudersound)
“Our identities are unimportant. Music is marketed on who is or isn’t in a band; it’s pushed. prodded and moulded into something it isn’t.”
In my opinion this has something to do with our Ego. At least that is what I read into this.
In my understanding we have two different forms of “I”.
There is a "deeper I" and "the surface I".
The surface I is what most humans think they are. “The first is what I sometimes call the “surface I”—the person with a past and a future. This is your historical identity, which is relatively fragile because the past and future only exist as thought forms or concepts in the mind. Most people on the planet are completely identified with the “surface I.” (source)
In other words those are those typical boxes most humans think about themselves or others. To give you an example from my life: I am a lesbian but not really attached to this. You will never hear me say things: “ I neeeeeeeeed to do this because I am a lesbian” which would hint on a total identification with that concepts. To me these boxes that we put humans in are just mental concepts.
That surface I is also kind of what Vessel hints on by saying that Music is marketed a certain way. It is seen as a brand actually. Every artist is its own brand with its unique selling point. Sleep Token’s unique selling point could be that nobody knows who they are. Or is it?
Let’s continue with Eckhart because he knows and also I trust him.
He explains our deeper I as: “The second dimension to who you are is what I like to call the “Deep I.” The most vital realization in your lifetime is to see that in addition to being a historical person or a “surface I,” you are more fundamentally the “Deep I.” This realization frees you from looking only to the “surface I” for your ultimate sense of identity—where it can never be found. It frees you from the frustrating sense that there’s always something missing or not quite right in life.” (source)
I never thought about not seeing someone’s face or seeing someone’s face and therefore only interacting with them on a surface level or their surface I. Vessel gets out of the way so we can see his deeper I.
If you are wondering why I am writing this….I had this thought this morning that maybe you could say that Vessel wants us to connect with his deeper I rather than with his surface I.
I feel like everything means something what he does. As if there was an extra layer to it. I kept thinking about what this layer could be and then this morning while I was meditating it hit me “think about Eckhart Tolle and what he would say.” Here we are.
Since I was already reading through some articles by Eckhart Tolle, I also found this and really liked it. It’s about music or art that comes from a deep place of consciousness
“When you ask, “Can art or music inform the ego of Presence?” – the ego doesn’t know anything about Presence, so it can’t do that. There needs to be some opening in the ego in order for you to be receptive to the power that is latent in music or art, that was created from that deep place. There’s a lot of music and art that’s not necessarily created from that deep place, but the ego is trying to be clever. Let’s talk about some piece of music or work of art that comes out of connectedness with Stillness, or Presence. To some extent, the work of art or the piece of music still carries that energy field. It can put a person in touch with the deeper dimension within. A there’s a little bit of an opening is required. If there’s only the density of the ego, then the transformational possibilities of art or music are not realized. A little opening is required in the viewer, or the listener, and then it can be quite a wonderful thing to listen to music or to contemplate a work of art. You can be transported, if only for a moment, into that alert stillness out of which it originally came. That’s a beautiful thing.” (source)
This is something that even I feel more and more. Whenever I play or sing and it’s coming from a deep place within me I can feel my spine being activated. Everything starts to feel warm and nice in some way. It’s hard to explain. As if my doing is supported by something higher, something divine. As if it speaks through me in a way. Coming back to the part about the unique selling point. I don’t think this is just a marketing scheme what they are doing. To me this is for us to connect with them on a deeper level.

What if all the other Hermits were in Double Life?
Ever since Double Life started, whenever I watch one of the Hermits who isn't in it, I keep finding myself wondering what it would have been like if they had joined. And more specifically, who would they be soulbound to?
So, I decided to find out for myself! I'm going off the assumption that the selction of Soulmates was truly random and so I did what was basically the virtual version of pulling names out of a hat. I took the names of every Hermit who isn't in Double Life, and put then in a list on a random item picker website. I then had it pull one name at a time, and I deleted each name from the list as I went to avoid anyone being pulled twice. To keep things fair I only did the process once and didn't reroll at any point.
This list assumes that the current Soulbounds on Double Life would remain the same, so all the participating members of Double Life are not included here. Because the number of non-participating Hermits was an odd number, I included Skizzleman as well. If you would have rather seen LDShadowLady in this list you can just swap Skizz for her.
Without further ado, here's the list!
GeminiTay & Cubfan135
Docm77 & Xisumavoid
XBCrafted & Iskall85
FalseSymmetry & Stressmonster101
VintageBeef & WelsKnight
Keralis & Skizzleman
Tinfoilchef & JoeHills
MumboJumbo & Hypnotizd
iJevin & ZedaphPlays
I really love how this list came out. There's a great mixture of potential dynamics here, ranging from people who would immediately be power couples to people that would probably be disasters. And of course, plenty of chaos. Here's my thoughts on some of the pairs! I'm far from a HermitCraft historian, so I'm sorry if I don't know about any previous interactions Hermits have had and completely misread their dynamic. This is just more going off vibes anyway.
Gem & Cub
I don't know why, but my immediate gut reaction is that they would not get along. Gem would probably end up joining one of the other pairs instead, either Scott and Cleo for the gay and single alliance, or Stress and False for the girlboss energy. Cub would ally with Doc and Xisuma for ultimate destruction capabilities.
Doc & Xisuma
Power couple. Everyone will fear them, and rightfully so. Sure, Xisuma is a sweetheart and Doc isn't that bad (or so he says). But their skills and dedication combined together would be an absolutely deadly force. That is, until they inevitably mess up one of their own intricate traps and end up being one of the first duos eliminated.
XB & Iskall
These two would start off super excited to be Soulbound, and would work together great at first. But things would pretty quickly fall apart between them. They'd probably still work together for the sake of practicality, but they'd be snippy the whole time. I picture them pulling an Etho and Bdubs in Last Life by dividing their base directly down the middle. Iskall would try to buddy up with Stress, but she wouldn't be interested.
False & Stress
OTP. Absolute besties, would have total lesbian couple girlboss energy the entire time. Would also be complete gremlins and mess with everyone else constantly. This might end up painting a target on their back, but they also would be strong contenders to be the winning team.
Beef & Wels
Would have the most normal, drama free relationship of everyone. Not madly in love or hating each other, just two dudes being bros and chilling.
Keralis & Skizz
Constant comedy. Would regularly get into disagreements, but nothing that would ever drive a wedge between them because they'd end up just laughing it off. Would try to homewreck other teams.
TFC & JoeHills
They'd quickly come up with an arrangement where TFC would mine for resources, and Joe would find creative ways to sell them to people. They might end up becoming a target, especially once people start going red, because of their accumulated wealth. Joe may also end up being tricked by Scar into doing something that would cause his death.
Mumbo & Hypno
Would be excited to work together, but Grian would constantly be trying to win Mumbo over, and it would absolutely become a tension point between them because Mumbo would claim to be loyal to Hypno while also constantly running off to do things with Grian.
Jevin & Zedaph
These two would be the type of pair that despite their individual brilliance, would have -1 brain cells when working together. They'd have all the greatest "what could possibly go wrong?" schemes. Would either be the first team to lose or would somehow manage to win by sheer dumb luck.
This was a ton of fun to do, and I might do some variations, maybe doing some new rolls on the current Double Life cast, or using all the Hermits and the Double Life Cast together. Also I'm really sorry if someone else has done this already and I unintentionally stole the idea!

The Scapegracers by H.A. Clarke
An outcast teenage lesbian witch finds her coven hidden amongst the popular girls in her school, and performs some seriously badass magic in the process.
Skulking near the bottom of West High’s social pyramid, Sideways Pike lurks under the bleachers doing magic tricks for Coke bottles. As a witch, lesbian, and lifelong outsider, she’s had a hard time making friends. But when the three most popular girls pay her $40 to cast a spell at their Halloween party, Sideways gets swept into a new clique. The unholy trinity are dangerous angels, sugar-coated rattlesnakes, and now–unbelievably–Sideways’ best friends.
Together, the four bond to form a ferocious and powerful coven. They plan parties, cast curses on dudebros, try to find Sideways a girlfriend, and elude the fundamentalist witch hunters hellbent on stealing their magic. But for Sideways, the hardest part is the whole ‘having friends’ thing. Who knew that balancing human interaction with supernatural peril could be so complicated? - Storygraph
Reading this book was like shooting a glorious cocktail of Joan Jett, The Craft, and glorious butch lesbian energy straight into my veins. Angry girl gangs are a trope right up my alley and The Scapegracers doesn’t disappoint. What I really appreciated was the core dynamic of the group. With your typical girl groups à la Heathers or Mean Girls, once the power structure is threatened, the girls basically turn on each other and rip the others to shreds. Here, it’s clear that these friends are ride or die for each other to a somewhat intimidating degree. If anyone dares to hurt one of their own, it’s open season and the aftermath is going to be bloody. High school party legends Jing, Daisy, and Yates never really fall into the holier than thou popular rich girl group stereotype, as they readily bring witchy loner Sideways into the fold once they see that her abilities are no joke. Despite their reputations, they’re very earnest in their intentions, and do what they can to make her feel welcome. It’s a welcome departure from the usual popular kids embracing the school loser story and leads to some great interactions between them all.
Sideways is a character that is all barbed wire and jagged edges. Like many an angry queer teen, she desires to kick a hole square in the face of the universe and disregard any sort of conventional living. Some may find her personality and narration abrasive, but it absolutely jives with the tone and direction of the story. She is just the right amount of pissed off for the audience to cheer her on while not being totally put off by her attitude. I think what also really helps is that we are shown constantly that Sideways is not a totally unfeeling person. There are people that she loves, like her amazing, incredibly supportive dads, Julian and Boris, as well as her new friends and mysterious crush. It goes a long way in humanizing her and shows that what she ultimately wants is some sort of connection to others.
Tangent here, but Julian and Boris are probably some of the best parents I’ve come across in young adult fiction. Julian is the kind parent prone to flustering over the safety of his daughter, but at the same time is all for her joining up with a girl gang to act as a counter for the wealth of meathead jocks in the area. Boris is the more reserved of the two, still caring for Sideways and shares many interests with her, but is also respectful of her space and her secrets. Again loving the shakeups to the typical YA format of an angsty teen who is constantly at odds with their parents that only serve as another obstacle for them to face.
The treatment of magic in this world feels very unique, as it focuses more on its physical effects to the caster rather than solely on its outcomes. Magic is treated as this force that runs all throughout the body when in use, feelings of electricity and chills, coupled with coppery tastes on the tongue and sensations that defy reality. It makes magic more than just saying a cryptic word and hoping that it works, it is an elemental force that you dish out with your entire body. The magic in Scapegracers is chaotic, twisting and shaping itself based on the specific witch, better when done improvised and in the moment. I really like this interpretation, as it appears as this unpredictable power that can be called on in certain situations rather than completely mastered.
On the whole, a fantastic read if you’re looking for some hardcore witchy vibes and a tough-as-nails girl gang that would definitely conquer the world if given the chance. I found it a bit slow to start at the beginning, but after a few chapters it really picks up and doesn’t slow down until the very end.

365 Marvel Comics Paper Cut-Out SuperHeroes - One Hero, Every Day, All Year…
June 9th - Lucy in The Sky
Karolina Dean grew up in Los Angeles, the daughter of a pair of successful actors who appeared in a popular soap opera.  Unbeknownst to Karolina. her parents were extra-terrestrial renegades exiled from their home planet of Majesdane for criminal activities.   The couple had managed to keep Karolina’s Majesdane attributes a secret by having her wear a special bracelet that suppressed her abilities and caused her to appear human.  When she finally removed this bracelet, Karolina found that her body took on a glowing bioluminescence and she was bestowed the powers of solar energy absorption and manipulation.  As such she can take in solar radiation and transform it into a cosmic energy that enables her the capacities for flight, energy blasts and force field generation.
Karolina’s parents had been members of The Pride, a criminal syndicate that controlled organized crime throughout the Southern California region.  The Pride had conciliated this power through a blood pact with the extra-dimensional beings known as the Gibborn.  When Karolina and there other children of the Pride discovered that their parents were murderous criminals, they banded together as young team of heroes known as The Runaways.  As a member of this team, Karolina chose the alias of ‘Lucy in The Sky.’
Following numerous adventures alongside The Runaways, Karolina was approached by the Skrull Prince Xavin who informed her that they were betrothed to wed as part of an arranged marriage to create peace between The Skrulls and the Majesdane.  Carolina stated she had no interest in such an arranged marriage and that furthermore she is a lesbian and not interested in marrying a man.  Gavin explained that gender is a secondary matter to The Skrulls and changed their physical appearance so that they were now a woman.
Convinced that the wedding was the only way to prevent a war, Karolina reluctantly returned with Xavin to Majesdane.  The two grew close, but a romance still felt un-right to Karolina.  Unfortunately, the tensions between The Skrulls and Majesdane could not be eased by a political marriage and Karolina and Xavin fled back to Earth when fighting broke out.  The pair’s relationship ultimately ended when Xavin left earth following the Skrull’s failed secret invasion.
Some time thereafter, The Runaways encountered the students of The Avengers Academy.  Herein, Karolina met the heroine, Lightspeed and the two began dating.  Karolina also began attending classes as Pomona College as part of an effort to live a normal, civilian life.
After briefly disbanding, The runaways reformed and Karolina agreed to join them again.  Being a part of the Runaways took its toll on Karolina’s grades as well as her relationship with Lightspeed, who eventually broke up with her stating that she wasn’t attentive enough.  Not especially long thereafter, Karolina began a romance with her teammate, Nico Minoru.
Actress Virginia Gardner portrayed Karolina in Hulu’s Runaways television series.  The heroine first appeared in the pages of Runaways Vol. 1 #1 (2003).

"I like your cut, G!" Blake shouted, catching the God of Light in a flying kick to the back.
"Let's finish this bitch!" Ruby declared, delivering a high kick that threw the God of Light to Yang.
"GOLDEN RUSH BARRAGE!" Yang shouted, delivering a slew of Aura-laced punches to the God of Light, launching him towards Ruby.
Ruby's Silver Energy exploded out of her, catching the God of Light in her pure power. "SUPER… LESBIAN… ULTIMATE… SILVER… BLAAAAAAAAST!!!!!!!" Ruby screamed, repelling the God of Light towards Blake.
"Superposition Eratication Beam!" Blake declared, unleashing a powerful beam from her hands that ended with the God of Light crashed into the ground.
"Mon dieu, I believe he has had enough!" Weiss said Frenchly.
The God of Light slowly got to his feet and began to power up. "FOOLS!" He declared, "I'LL USE YOUR TECHN-"
"Neverrminde." Weiss interrupted him, grabbing him by the chest and bitch slapping him. She took out the Chaos Dust. "Don't ask wherre I was keeping zese."
Ruby grabbed the Chaos Dust and went Super. "Finally, Kay Jewelers."
"You're done for." Yang also went Super.
"Au revoir, idiote!" Weiss cackled, also going super.
Blake, after a brief pause, also went Super. "Fuck you, bitch." She declared.
The four teleported into space, where the Amity was now being sent directly into the planet's gravitational pull.
"WAIT WHERE THE HELL AM I?!" The God of Dark shouted from inside the Amity, "WHY IS EVERYTHING ON FIRE- GET ME OUT OF- WHAT ARE YOU ALL DOING?!"
"Killing two birds with one stone." Blake explained as RWBY steered Amity to Remnant.
"Every kiss begins with Kay, motherfucker." Yang smirked.
"BUT I'M GOING TO BE KILLED WHICH ALSO STARTS WITH K!" The God of Dark screamed before Amity collided with the surface of the planet, blowing it to smithereens.
Team RWBY teleported just outside of the blast radius.
"We did it!" Ruby declared. "We saved Remnant!"

1, 13, 22, and 23 for the choose violence asks :-)
the character everyone gets wrong
Avallac'h. (You asked me.) Ciri. Not your Innocence, not your saviour, not your lesbian icon. Very likely to make you her collateral damage. Eredin. (Semi-blank slate syndrome.)
13. worst blorboficiation
Triss (TW3) & Jaskier (TWN). Honestly, I don't know. I think most romantic fan-content is inherently susceptible to do this, no matter what. But with Triss & Dandelion it's just painful.
22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores
The Witcher is Sapkowski's Wicca fan-letter (& a pagan Arthurian one).
23. ship you’ve unwillingly come around to
I don't think I've unwillingly come around to any ship. I don't have that many ships I would feel strongly about in TW to begin with, and I can begin to find most things interesting. As I am called upon to choose violence, though…
I used to dislike Ciri/Eredin circa 6-7 years ago. In retrospect, it had less to do with the ship & more to do with the fanon around it. The (post-TW3) fanon in question: a feisty maiden who'll eventually give into how good the D is and wish to bear the child of the desirous rapist maniac, who is nevertheless honest & upright about being a rapist maniac & is therefore a solid groom.
I guess some of it has to do with the way shipping tends to inherently tilt the narrative and characterisations. With the added conundrum that Eredin's feather-thin characterisation is mostly a composite-fantasy of Ciri's, serving that very purpose. Two classic tilts at which I eyeroll: 1) the nominal monster's miraculous transformation into a paragon of virtue & 2) the heroine's self-effacing, full co-optation into a true love narrative - after rape, black eyes, bullying, insults, etc. (Both frequent with this pair; a "not a bad guy after all" take and a "Mr Psychopath" one.) There is more wiggle-room in writing (2) - hope and self-delusion are powerful things & Ciri is vulnerable to both - but unhealthy relationships are tough to write believably regardless, and even more so when dealing with illusions of health. The more common outcome is the reduction of the heroine to a vessel of the audience's attraction toward the monster, or, even more frequently, the nominal monster's whitewashing, uwufication, and softening up into boyfriend-looking material. Speaking of: Ciri. Ciri won't be material, she's convinced of it ever since the age of 10; ship-fics kind of are the ultimate sewing factory, there's no escaping it (just hope for proficiency).
On a more object-level: military machismo leaves me dead cold, and Eredin's game characterisation - which generated the above fanons in conjunction with "rough caresses" & myrtle flower - does not fly with me. The pilfering of Avallac'h's and Auberon's traits & plot significances to thicken Eredin's meagre book-characterisation flies with me even less. Eredin frequently got built up as a reaction to Avallac'h in fanon and never really obtained "his own thing" (unless it be solely the animal magnetism of a darkly strongman in the eyes of a teenager). I also happened one too many times into the circus of Eredin & Ciri/Eredin fans going on a crusade against Avallac'h or Ciri/Avallac'h by attempting to build up a moral high ground for E over A in the Aen Elle quicksand. (Reee! Ship wars! Discourse! Somehow the opposite almost never occurred, tho.) No comment, or it'll be all comments (dm me, I guess, lol). Consequently, it almost seemed like a huge amount of energy in the writing of these two was spent on signalling why Eredin is "a real man" and the best dick around among his fellow war criminals instead of giving him an independently interesting position in the lore, in relation to his fellow elves, and in relation to Ciri. Not to mention, a discernible arc & internal conflict. Does that matter in smut? I guess not. Does it matter to me (also in smut)? Yes.
Basically, I used to find Ciri/Eredin forced everywhere but in Ciri's desirous dream sequences or in a dark-fic's ravishing plotlines (& even there I didn't find the "I must have you & you will like it" Eredin very compelling given his indifference in the book). However, I have come around to this pairing over the years because I have met some cool people with fun and unconventional takes on the elf, and I think there are a few thematically rich veins to be mined with him in relation to Ciri. So throwing games & game fanon out of the window definitely helped & is allowing me to work out Eredin's "own thing" in a way that excites me; alas what excites me in shipping and in unhealthy ships is not romantic wish fulfilment. Off with Holofernes' head, non-muff! Off. But before you do it let me investigate him; romantic lens is like an amplifier of all other interesting things that are going on inside characters - and that's what shipping is about to me in large part; uncovering those things.

Rants!
Anna Kwemto/ Daniel Rocha: Lost in the @unpopularshipbracket prelims.
It's a rarepair because all three fics on AO3 for them were made by me.
I just think it's a cool ship; Anna's blunt and straight to the point, Dan kinda has failboy energy sometimes, but the best thing is we don't even know what's going on behind the scenes as all we see are emails; Anything could be going on between these two. For all we know, Anna's just dogshit at communicating via email which is why she sounds blunt. For all we know, Dan might have once had power tool certification but lost it due to an accident that hurt him only, and Anna doesn't want him around power tools so he doesn't get hurt again. It's the ultimate exercise in realising you'll never have the pull picture and being able to use what you have to infer what you will never see.
Sam Nightingale/Aelwyn Abernant: Oh boy where do i start. Trans lesbians… Both of them magical girls… Traumatized… And they hate each other. Sam used to be best friends with the popular prom queen mean girl before she yknow went insane, tried to take over the world, and was killed. And the spectre of her still haunts Sam wherever she goes literally. Aelwyn meanwhile was the golden child of an evil ass elf family and was also involved in the plot to take over the world but when things went haywire her parents locked her in this torture orb thing for like a year and when she got out she was entirely mentally broken. She reunited with her little sister, had a DELICIOUS redemption arc, and the two of them started working through the trauma of their parents together. Aelwyn and Sam have never interacted on screen I think but their stories are so interwoven and Sam always says the moment she says Aelwyn it’s On Sight. Badass lesbians… They both have strong insane personalities, just complete bad bitches that take no shit but they’re so hurt and soft on the inside and they just love the people closest to them so much. They’ve been through so much and they would understand each other… Also the people that play them have talked ab this ship before. People are on board for real. Look up art to understand how cool they are

Eternity With Each Other
Pairing: Gideon x Harrow
Tags: post-canon, fluff, morning fluff, naked cuddling, gentle kisses
Word count: 0.6k
Ao3
A/N: Just some morning fluff for the disaster lesbians that could definitely use some after everything they've been through.
Harrow enjoyed looking at Gideon’s sleeping face. The little smile on her lips, her almost silent snores, the way her hair fell over her eyes. Everything about her made her look like a godsend. Well in a way she was, and Harrow still kicked herself for taking almost 20 years to realize it.
If she could go back and do it all over again she would tell herself not to hate Gideon. Or rather to not to force herself to hate her because she wanted Gideon to hate her, like she thought she deserved. She would tell her past self to actually treat Gideon like a human being, like an equal, like a partner. She was foolish back then, having no idea that the one who got on her nerves so much every day would end up being her eternal other half.
She reached over and brushed Gideon’s hair back, only to get a pleased hum in return.
Barely awake Gideon’s movements were sluggish still but she turned her head and kissed Harrow’s fingers, “Morning Harrow.” Her voice was still strained with sleep yet somehow sounded perfect just the same.
“You sleep like a log Griddle.” Gideon chuckled and slung an arm over Harrow, bringing the two closer, their naked bodies now flush together.
“It’s early.” Gideon mumbled into Harrow’s hair, tickling the necromancer.
“We are immortal. We have an eternity.” This did not make Gideon back off, it only made her pull Harrow on top of her, hug her close and lavish her shoulder with kisses.
“Then we have all the time in the world to stay in bed.” Gideon mumbled and smirked against Harrow’s skin when she felt the necromancer relax on top of her.
Well Harrow supposed that there are worst fates than having to cuddle with her very charming and hot girlfriend for little while longer. If this was her eternal punishment for killing God then she’ll gladly take it. Except there was one problem that soon presented itself. Gideon’s loud, grumbly, bottomless pit of a stomach.
Gideon groaned as Harrow tried to wiggle her way out of her embrace, “Food Nav. We still need to eat. Or do you expect to live the rest of your life feeding on energy.”
“Don’t need to get up. All the food I need is right here.” Gideon once again pressed her lips to Harrow’s shoulder, expect this time it was to bite rather than to kiss.
A gasp left Harrow when she felt Gideon’s hand make it’s way downwards and between her legs, “Griddle.” She bit her lower lip, if she gave in now then they might actually spend the rest of the day in bed. It turned out Gideon wasn’t the only one with a large appetite. “Breakfast and shower first.”
“Breakfast and we do it in the shower.” Gideon looked like she was just about ready to bust out her ultimate weapon. No not her sword. Her pout. Not even Harrow, the greatest necromancer of her generation, was powerful enough to resist and Gideon knew it.
“Deal.” Gideon sat up quickly, her arms still around Harrow and her lips everywhere she could reach. Harrow giggled. Years ago she would kill Gideon for even suggesting that Harrow could giggle, not that Gideon thought that Harrow was capable of it at the time but still. “Breakfast.” She reminded Gideon again.
“Fine. Fine.” A second later Harrow was scooped up into Gideon’s arms and carried toward the kitchen, “Naked breakfast.”
Harrow rolled her eyes but couldn’t help but give Gideon a gentle kiss, “You drive a hard bargain.” And it was the best bargain she ever agreed to.

Thank you for your thoughtful response, it actually made me feel a little better. I, quite obviously, wrote my ask when I was pissed. I think you’re right about the women who hold misogynistic beliefs, it is sad but there’s also limits to certain things especially when those women start calling other women disgusting porn-inspired insults (that was mostly what I had in mind when I wrote that). Maybe I’m being too harsh but I’ve been shocked, thoroughly shocked by the things I saw people say like actually I would read and my jaw would drop. And like you said you’ve had your experiences, just like I had mine on here so no my view isn’t the ultimate truth about this community but man I’m more sad than angry if I’m being honest. Terfectly is just one example but I’ve seen people call her abhorrent things just like I know she called other women the same things, she’s far from the only one. As for people being ignorant, you’re right not everything comes from racism but at some point you’re too grown to just say that you were “ignorant” but that now you “learned and are more educated”, at the end of the day ignorance is a choice too. And let’s not talk about the rampant homophobia that radblr seems super comfortable with but god forbid we call out homophobic bis (as a fellow bi, we are honestly insufferable I’m not even mad at lesbians who refuse to date bi women, more power to y’all ✊🏼) but thank you again for taking the time to answer me, I’m sorry for the energy I brought in the studio today 😂 I’m still glad to have found the community because I found 3 cool ass women. I might be back when I feel like my mental health is better, in the meantime, Im sending you so much love and light ✨✨ I hope you have a wonderful day/night :)))
You're not wrong. Much as I wish things could always be explained away, sometimes it's just the person not willing to make the effort.
And don't worry about it! LMAO 😭 Thank you for the thoughtful asks! I hope your mental health heals and sending YOU love and light x3. 💜💜

Hi! Gonna test OC art and stuff. If people end up liking them, I can and will talk more about this world
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Basically this is a kinda cottagecore hidden safe haven, holy land of the Nature God of this world so there is no violence intended to cause harm allowed (teasing punches or something like play fighting is allowed, but violence with malicious intent is prohibited), and run by the two hold each other in the middle, Flora and Ivy. The others are people the two have brought into their protected ground and who decided to stick around.
I call Flora and Ivy lesbians, but at this point in their timeline, it is still borderline platonic. They solidify their relationship later on, as the culture shifts. (They are basically my ideal relationship and a way to dream through them. I made them in middle school and Ivy was once an unintentional self insert when I didn't know I was queer yet)
Rundown of the OCs
Boy with the red and white wings in the top corner - Red, 16, a personal AU version of revived dsmp Tommy, my trauma comfort character
Blond girl in the distance chasing after Red - Chloe, 12, partially feral adopted child of the lesbians in the middle, no powers but she is good with a bow
Dark-green-haired girl with the devil horns holding the ginger- Flora, physically 18, demigod of the Nature God of my world, runs a safe haven where she brings traumatized/unwanted children/children-ajacents to have a better life, partially feral, in a semi-romantic relationship with her partner-in-crime (Ivy)
The taller ginger in the teal dress, being held by Flora - Ivy, physically 18, the brain to Flora's brawn, in a semi-romantic relationship with her partner-in-crime (Flora), the one who keeps adopting these traumatized children, can kinda control vines (I can elaborate later), group nurse and mom friend
The shorter ginger with the white blouse and brown skirt sprinting in from behind the lesbians - Dawn, 10, chaotic with ADHD energy, cares for the group's animals, has the power to scoop light into her hands and move it elsewhere (if you know "Mrs. Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" her powers are similar to Noor Pradesh), one of the newest kids, only one been here shorter is Red
The person sticking out of the water with the small horns and purple hair - Ocean, physically around 16, lil water dragon who had separated from their group and ultimately decided to settle here, holds a human form using a crystal imbedded in their chest, a little lower than where the human collarbone is, doesn't really talk, mostly due to the fact that her voice is more built for siren singing and talking underwater than talking using the common language of humanoids
The tall person sitting down, kinda reaching toward the fire on the right side with the black hair and horns - Ash, a Hellfire Dragon, physically around 17, outcast from his cluster for a deformity in his magic, with the tint of purple in his horns and fire that heals more than it hurts, also holds a human form using a crystal imbedded in their chest, a little lower than where the human collarbone is, doesn't talk much, mostly cuz they don't like using common language to talk and have vocal cords that are designed more for deep dragon growls and grunts
The lil spirit with the ball of light and antlers floating next to Ash - Fawn, nature spirit, uses her lil ball to allow the living to see the dead, talks through spirits, physically unable to talk, kinda pops in and out of the sanctuary, bound to the forest and this spot of holy land
The girl with large black wings sitting on the log - Raven, 18, honestly, the only one of this group that actually leaves to get an education in the village (stays at a boarding school in the village while studying), older sister energy (especially to the younger members)
The lil boy sitting on the floor in the bottom left with the brown hair - Olly, physically 6, able to understand, interpret, and write any language (to an extent), at the expense of not being able to talk, can often only use some type sign language, or writing when he is given the chance, serves as a translator and is the reason everyone who lives there knows a bit of some form of sign language (I use ASL for reference because that's the only version I know)
The blue haired person on the right sitting on the log - Sapphire (Saph for short), siren hybrid, able to use the power of song to force emotions and images onto a person and able to heal himself with water (dehydration is like poison to them), mostly just sings calming or peaceful music, mimicks the feralness of Chloe often since he is naturally apathetic with mostly neutral espressions

i know you follow me for hot tips for your Game Boy Color game Pokemon Trading Card Game, so i'm gonna let you in on this game breaking deck that destroys everything! come on in and take a look (invites you into the radical '90s Van)
alright dudettes and lesbians, here's the tip. when you beat the game (secret postgame strats! for when you wont need them anymore! i told you this was hot) you are given the four legendary cards. three of them are basically useless (the articuno is basically just worse zapdos making it second best), but...
Tumblr media
the Zapdos is incredibly powerful!!
make a deck with only ONE pokemon, this zapdos. put in twelve or so lightning energy and fill the rest with all the trainer cards you got that are worth something! if you want to, you can try to put in mysterious fossils or clefairy dolls along with scoop ups, but i usually just put in a whole host of healing and draw power
so why does this deck do really well against a lot of the duelists in this game?
zapdos has one attack, which does 70 damage to a random pokemon on the field besides itself. if you dont have any pokemon benched, it will do 70 damage to one of your opponent's pokemon every turn, and this is extremely high damage to be doing every single turn in this game, that's enough to OHKO the majority of pokemon and WILL two hit kill every single pokemon in the game
Zapdos has a resistance to fighting which is pretty nice and absolutely NO WEAKNESS
UNLIKE CURRENT TCG you can mulligan a hundred times with no drawback! a single-pokemon strat like this is unfeasible today but in this game there's absolutely nothing stopping you from retrying until you draw your Zapdos
Zapdos has 100 HP, giving you the time to get set up even if your opening hand is bad. it does need three energies to attack but the bulk helps make it easy to get there
spam stuff like Super Energy Removals and Super Potions with your excess lightning energies!
what does this deck struggle against? not a whole lot in this game honestly. the biggest threats are still probably not going to be able to kill Zapdos before it gets three energies and some of the biggest threats (like hitmonchan) are countered by Zapdos. if your opponent draws really well and uses disruptions and you brick it could be rough, but i honestly think you basically autowin 90% of duels with this deck without even thinking
the only hard counter is mr. mime. a lot of stuff is hard countered by mr. mime because it can only be hit by attacks that do 10 or 20 damage. when you face a deck with this, hope your thunders don't hit it and that they put other pokemon on the bench (the CPU doesn't know to consciously ONLY have out mr mime, which would be unbeatable against my deck)
plus you can go beat the grand masters again to get a second copy, which makes the mr. fuji/scoop up strats even more powerful, though you'll have to be very careful only to bench a zapdos when you're promoting it to active! never have anything on your bench unless you're about to use it as that 70 damage hurts
alright lesbians, hope that helps you collecting all the cards! this is the ultimate deck for grinding!

Ok I’ll explain the evil polycule. All trans lesbians. It’s just an idea at this point and I don’t have all the names:
Main character: weakest member of the polycule. Skilled in combat for a normal human, but the people in the hell city she now lives in are built different. Was hired to kill Ohenka, which is how they met. Very lesbian. Middle of the road in morals (in the polycule). Convinces Ohenka to make a meat sculpture out of god if she lets mc live. Only person who has a healthy fear of bullets.
Ohenka: name means royal/godly transformation. Chose it for herself. Not because she’s trans, but because of what she does: turning people into meat sculptures. Shed describe her art as a collage of the human form. Most would describe it as body horror. Mc manages to get her to ONLY do it to people they’d otherwise kill. Can block bullets with her sword, which shocked the mc so much upon them meeting that mc fell back on her base instinct when dealing with women that are about to kill her: seduction. Also carved a pattern into the mc’s back with heated glass to create a scar that marks the mc as hers (mc thought this was just really intense foreplay. Was not). Worst polycule member in terms of morals.
Dusk: non-binary, blind fallen angel. Fallen in the literal sense, as angels are people in white and gold powered armor with jet packs that shoot exhaust that look like wings of flame. Angels (they’re called heralds but they’re pretty much angels) wield lances and are followed by drones that can see in a variety of spectra. Dusk has all of their drones shot out of the sky and crashed (heralds get their eyes removed to make them dependent on the existing power structure). Now works at a bar, but leaves it temporarily to join the polycule to kill god. Does hrt, but genetic engineering means it doesn’t have too much of an affect on them. Doesn’t mind. Second best polycule member in terms of morals. VERY buff VERY butch. Can take bullets with minimal reaction.
Nerd: idk what to name her. She’s a nerd. She lives in a massive library/factory that provides HRT to most trans people in the region, including literally everyone else in the polycule except mc (only because mc is new to the city) Brutally tortured a man near to death. When it’s pointed out that torture is a terrible way of getting information, she admits that she just wanted to strike back at the administration that had oppressed her. Second worst polycule member in terms of morals. Skilled enough to not get shot at in most situations and can read people well enough to block the bullets if she is.
Sword girl: girl with swords. Two of em. Skilled enough to take on the entire rest of the polycule when she hears they’re coming near her home (only loses because she didn’t want to kill). Protag energy. Falls hard for the nerd due to her apparent calm kindness (it’s just practicality). Kills the man the nerd was torturing midway through to put him out of his misery. Becomes jaded, but ultimately still does her best to help people. Tried to pull herself away from the polycule, but finds that as much as she hates these women, she’s still madly in love with them. Good person. Practically untouchable with any means of conventional weaponry.
Some other stuff, like one of them being the daughter of a laundromat mafia family (there’s a reason for it in the worldbuilding i swear). I know it’s shocking that tumblr user terriblewomanyuri has a story about evil lesbians.
This is awesome, and I like it so far. I think sword girl and the MC can work together with Dusk to keep the polycule along the right path. That or at least keep the other two from jumping off the deep end and take the rest with them
