Finally finishing all these guys we’ve got charts and headcanons! (Long post)
Tumblr media
(Height)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Wingspan)
Tumblr media
(Body length & basic shapes I used) (it might be odd but ignore any detail on the back, the shapes are for general body shape)
Headcanons:
Seawings: - Colors range from red and purple to yellow - Aquatic is based off areas of bioluminescence rather than singular scales (because no one wants to draw all of those) - Although they average small compared to the other tribes, gigantism is more common - Wing bioluminescence gene is always present but for some doesn't show, thus aquatic doesn't utilize the wings
Rainwings: - Can change the texture of their scales alongside color - Weakest bite due to their fangs, probably why they're vegetarian - Mimic interesting behaviors - Have forked tongues
Mudwings: - Colors range from olive green to purple-ish red - Very resilient - Able to breathe fire regardless of body temperature, the heat of the flame depends on body temp - Their horns constantly grow and sometimes have to be cut due to dangerous growing patterns - Love gnawing on things, tough foods like jerky is popular - The horn covers of fallen siblings are harvested and turned into instruments to remember them by
Leafwings: - Colors range from gold to teal (and pink to olive green during cold seasons) - Can appear to have false eyes - Bug-like just like the other Pantalan residents (because they're just some weird outlier like what is going on here) - Leafspeak doesn't actually allow them to hear voices from plants but rather increase the sensitivity of their antennae which pick up on the changes in plants - In colder seasons, regions that have deciduous trees influence leafwings in that their scales change into warm tones similar to fallen leaves for camouflage but this also negatively impacts one's leafspeak ability; this doesn't apply to evergreen leafwings however
Hivewings: - Colors range from hot pink to olive green - Can appear to have false eyes - Have elbowed antennae just like their "cousins", Hymenoptera (wasps, bees, ants) - Tend to disregard personal space/get close out of habit, being close means better temp regulation and better communication - All hivewings have stingers, wrist stingers, and a venomous bite but it largely depends on preference of which they choose and like muscles, they can be exercised to become deadly weapons - They're not capable of "emitting a horrible stench"
Icewings: - Colors range from white to pale indigo - Melanism is still very rare but more likely in icewings - Can be iridescent in any color, especially visible in lighter scaled individuals - The scales on their face is very fine and is flushed with blood which darkens the area and allows them to see in the snow by absorbing light, otherwise the glare from the sun reflecting off would be a hinderance - Their wings are thin and thus have visible veins most of the time - Idk how to describe their scales other than its kinda like basalt formations - From the side they appear large but are actually thin and flexible - They can freeze to death if they've gone without cold for a long time and then reintroduced too quickly - In hybridization, they have dominant genes, partially because the animus gene - The extra mane of horns can appear randomly on the body in singular spikes, they also make a clink sound when they collide as if they're made of ice, making a pretty scary rattle when disturbed
Nightwings: - Colors range from orange to purple - Albinism is still very rare but more likely in nightwings - Dwarfism is more common - Teardrop scales are always present, highlighted when the dragon has powers regardless of type - Pitbull ready to bite kids - They CAN hang upside down as the books suggest but not for long - By taking dust baths, they dull their scales to reflect less light and blend in better in the dark - Have white fire but cant breathe for long due to how hot it is (this is mainly to add onto the mysterious factor of em and I always liked the idea) - Due to eye sensitivity, they hate sudden bright lights and will close their eyes as they breathe fire
Silkwings: - Can have black or dark accents but never as a whole body color unless they've hybridized - Wing shapes vary widely - Can appear to have false eyes - Flamesilk is rarer than one might think - Very flexible and have strong tails used as a sort of 5th limb in climbing - Albino or melanistic dragons still keep their iridescence - Silk is emitted through a spinneret on the chin rather than the wrists - Prefer to travel in pairs (instinct)
Sandwings: - Colors range from red to olive green - Dark patters often mimic a snake's - Horse-like in complexion - Alongside their snake-like appearance, they have pit organs - Tend to move like birds - Poor eyesight but good hearing - Their horns angle upwards sort of like a bull
Skywings: - Colors range from red to yellow (and green because skywings are meant to be your typical fire breathing dragon which is most often depicted to be red but can also be green) - Tend to move like birds - Weaker than they appear - Green skywings are incapable of being or having flamescales - Their horns constantly grow and have to be filed down - A flamescale cant melt rock or metal by touch alone, only via fire is it possible - It's not that they don't want flamescales that they kill them, it's more of a mercy killing because of how lonely their life can be

doing ellies eyeliner ⋆。˚ ❀
first post !! hope you guys will like it <3 (im sorry for mistakes, english is not my first language) feel free to correct me/give advice!!
!! palestine links !! & !! daily click to help !!
〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰〰
your girlfriend frowned and crossed her arms at your words. "seriously? me and makeup?” she looked at you doubtfully. "yes!!" you cried out happily, “i’d really like to see how eyeliner would look on you.. please, ellie”, you looked at her with a soft, sweet look, trying to mentally convince her. the girl rolled her eyes jokingly. you were so excited by the idea, she just couldn’t upset you with refusal.
“okay..”, she sat on the bed, leaning on her hands and watching in a relaxed position as you rummaged through your makeup bag with enthusiasm. “gonna sit on my lap?” ellie grinned playfully. “only if it makes you more comfortable” you glanced at her and sat on her lap. she wrapped her arms around your waist and looked into your eyes. her touch sent pleasant goosebumps across your skin. you placed your hands on her cheeks and she leaned into your hands… you couldn’t help but smile. “close your eyes and don’t open until i tell you to”
ellie obediently closed her eyes. you spent a few seconds admiring your girl: freckles randomly scattered across her face, cute thick eyebrows and that scar... the features that made her stand out. you stared long enough, she realized what was happening, smiling without opening her eyes. noticing her reaction, you got down to business. you carefully traced the tip of your eyeliner along her lash line, trying not to move too fast. such thick and dark eyelashes, they always impressed you and you loved it. silence filled the room. you were so close to her, you could hear and feel her breath on your hands. the moment felt kind of intimate, it made you slightly nervous. your fingertips gently stroke the girl’s cheeks. she seemed very calm and relaxed, unlike you. ellie frowned when your movements became more confident, her eyelids twitched from your touch out of habit. you accidentally moved your hand with the eyeliner in the wrong direction. “fuck..” you whispered through a dissatisfied sigh and stood up from her. "whats wrong?" the absence of you in ellies hands, even for a few moments, upset the girl.
“you’re twitching too much, the line is crooked..” you returned to her lap with a cotton swab in your hands. she raised her head again. "too ticklish." she said sharply, her voice filled with playful annoyance. you carefully wiped away the crooked line of the eyeliner, trying not to press too hard on her thin skin. “be patient a little longer baby”, you kissed her forehead softly and again did your best trying to draw perfect lines. the girl put her hands back on your waist and squeezed a little, pulling you closer. she smirked in satisfaction, without opening her eyes. you melted under her touch, but you tried to keep your hand strong and make confident movements, even if your hands were a little shaky. after a few minutes of suffering, you got more or less accurate triangles. “open your eyes..” you closed your eyeliner and looked at your girlfriend with admiration. she frowned a little “ugh, this thing tightens the skin..”
you smirked contentedly and placed your hands on her shoulders. “you look so cute.. i knew this shape would suit you.” the girl smiles back at you, happy that you are happy with the result. “you’re such a pro”. “you didn’t even see it!”, you exclaimed, quickly got up from her lap and ran for the mirror. "here.." the girl was slightly surprised by her reflection. “wow.. this is really good,” she said, looking at herself from different angles. the eyeliner really did highlight her eye shape well and the forest green color of her eyes seemed to pop out more. “im surprised i even like it". a smile spread across your face and you began peppering your girlfriend’s face with endless amount of soft, small kisses. she laughed softly, feeling the warmth of your lips that made her blush a bit. her arms are wrapped tightly around your waist.
"what's next? you’re gonna dress me in your evening dress?” she asked jokingly through your nonstop kisses. you paused for a couple of seconds and looked at her. the delight on your face made it clear to ellie that she just made a big mistake. her eyes widened with slight embarrassment. "oh fuck no..."

i would be really grateful for any feedback!! ty<3

Im here to say that college!au opla!zoro is your most superior zoo version yet. Please share any more thoughts you have on this cute couple!!!! I love their dynamic so much
listen;;;;;; i love college!au opla!zoro so much. so…… because i am… unwell about this man, sfw and nsfw headcanons/snippets of college!au opla!zoro (most of this is based on the death before decaf fic where zoro is a fencer and reader is a physical therapy major):
sfw:
afternoon naps on the ratty old couch in the living room of his dorm; luffy is his roommate who is simultaneously never there but also randomly always there at the weirdest most inopportune moments
“what did you say he studies?” “uh… something about international policy but he got in on a sports scholarship too.” “yeah? what’s he do?” “gymnastics.” “wait — seriously?” “yeah he’s /weird/ flexible.”
sharing pizza at midnight, sitting in his lap as he scrolls through highlight reels of past olympic fencing bouts, his chin occasionally brushing against your shoulder as he explains all the different rules and moves; you can feel the light stubble, feel the deep rumble of his voice along your arm where it’s pressed against his chest
him kissing you awake, opening your eyes to find him smiling, smirking, more like — “morning…” “mornin’. you were drooling on my pillow.” “shut up!” “nah, it was cute.” more kissing, you trying to shove his face into the pillow, him easily pinning you beneath him, arching an eyebrow; you sigh, blushing, “it’s too early for this.” “it’s never too early for this.”
jerking apart when you both hear luffy’s voice shouting from the living room, “have fun you guys! i’m going to usopp’s to watch the game! don’t forget to hydrate and take breaks! oh — and i left guac for you guys in the fridge!”
“i thought he was gone!” “i thought so too —” zoro groaning when you hear the door slam, burying his face in your shoulder
study sessions where he’s just doing weight training in the corner and it takes everything you have not to be distracted by the shape of him, shirtless, powering through reps of bicep curls, when he drops to the ground for pushups, the way he grins when he catches you staring and asks if you want to help hold his feet down for situps
coffee runs in the morning, standing in line with his arm draped around your shoulders; nami grinning, “see? toldya making out would’ve solved things.”
pecks goodbye in front of the main lecture building, hearing the way the rest of the fencing team hoots after you turn away, hearing zoro loudly telling them to shut the fuck up if they don’t want their asses beat
him blushing up a storm when you wrap your scarf around him and scold him again for forgetting his own, saying that he needs to take better care of his body if he’s gonna make it to the olympics; him scoffing and looking away and, “well… i’ve got you to take care of it for me, don’t i?”
nsfw: (mdni beyond this point pls)
fucking the locker rooms post bout, his hand cushioned behind your head because say what you will about jock!zoro but he’s still something of a gentleman
netflix and chill saturday nights bc he doesn’t have practice sunday mornings and he’s not about to let all that time to go waste; leaving the tv on as he pulls you over his lap, fingers dancing up the sides of your waist, pressing you down over his cock, groaning when he fists his hands in your hair and pulls
drunk!fucking at frat parties in strangers bedrooms, bc who tf cares who this room belongs to as long as there’s a bed and a door that somewhat locks and sure, the sheets are gonna smell like sex after you’re finished but who’s gonna try and fuck with you when zoro’s always got an arm around you, when he’s got you tucked into his side whenever you’re together, even if it’s just studying at the library or sitting at lunch in the dining commons
the most jealous, possessive sex… bc. zoro doesn’t share.
making out in the stacks bc you said you were getting a reference book but you were gone a bit too long and zoro had come to “find you” only to find you trying to reach a book on a level that’s just a bit too high; him reaching up to pull it down for you, pressing a hand to your lower stomach and pulling you back against his chest, “need some help, princess?”
fumbling back to his dorm after said failed study session in the library, him kicking the door shut and tossing you on his bed, him mumbling some cheesy line about needing to brush up on his anatomy before pushing your knees up and burying his face between your thighs

So uhh... we found something really, REALLY strange
As the tectonic activity continues to shift ever more chaotically across the globe, randomly elevating or crumbling parts of mountains, opening up fissures and expanding fault lines, not to mention all the volcanic eruptions, to say it is important to monitor the inner workings of Earth would be a criminal understatement.
On the remains of what used to be Hawaii, now a singular landmass, lies a monitoring station closest to the epicenter of the Fusion Detonation Event, some 400km away. Seismographer and tectonics expert Joannie du'Preeste was finalizing this months deep level mapping of the area of detonation and directly below to give the algorithm-driven disaster prediction model at least an above 50% accuracy rate for this month.
Typical readings, increase in magma outflow, collapses of internal caverns, formation of new ones, and irregular shifts from the various efforts to stymie and direct the disastrous plate movements. Now that Humanity and Earth were properly back in dimensional space instead of in-between, some additional hectic activity in the form of directional nuclear detonation had been performed for the upcoming plan of "plug the hole with a large piece of another planet or moon".
They've selected Sycorax by the way, just waiting for it to get further away from Uranus in its irregular orbit, hook it up to several Dreadnoughts and haul it over to Earth and gently plop it in the hole. It is about the right size and nobody will miss it if it doesn't work.
Anyway, as she pondered the likely inevitable yet another calamitous event we'll be willingly conducting, the mapper finished its work.
At first, more of the same chaos as usual, but something at the back of her mind said to glance closer at the density readings from the deepest level measurements. With not much else to do today before the work day ends, she highlighted the appropriate levels, and as she started to remove clutter data, a shape began to emerge.
A tendril.
While scans and maps often show things that our minds interpret as something already familiar to us, once you look at each individual part, you see that it is just a coincidence. The brain wants to see what it knows to make sense of the unknown, life would be too complicated and overstimulating otherwise.
No mistake, however. As she removed more of the clutter and focused in on the object, there was no mistaking its resemblance to a biological structure. Hints of veins, pores, hairs, scales, needles, eyes... seemingly everything you could find on the surface layer of a creature was there, or parts of it anyway. Composition-wise it was more of the same silicates and such compounds found within the mantle. But... denser, more concentrated, almost deliberately shaped.
She quickly loaded up older data and after a bit of filtering and comparing, sure enough, the same tendril-like structure is there, just a little closer to the regular density levels of the surrounding. Even years old data provided similar results, though you could only find the shape if you already knew it was there.
Loading up the oldest records she had access to from around 300 years ago revealed the same, just even less distinguishable from the surrounding materials.
The scans don't go deep enough to show what the tendril leads to, if anything, but what is it? How did it get there? Why is something clearly biological in structure within the mantle layer? And if it does continue, how far? Does the core of the planet itself house some impossible creature? If so... what does that mean? For Earth? For Humanity? For the Universe? This is way above Joannie's pay grade and expertise, way past her regular waking hours as well at this point, and way too big to know how or if to reveal any information to the public. Some higher ups can have a headache instead.
Maybe the Coalition aliens know something similar.
Maybe this is all a big load of nothing and she just imagined it all.
Yeah.
That'd be nice.
Wouldn't it be nice if Cthulu wasn't potentially real?

How do you draw Idia’s hair so good?? I struggle with the basic shapes so much!
Sorry for the late reply! Your ask got us excited because Idia’s hair is such a pain to draw, but also such a fun detail, and I’m very happy that you like the way I draw it <3
Katsu suggested to me to record a speedpaint, and uhh, here it is. Please, don’t mind the wonky anatomy and me horsing around with zooming in and out randomly. As you can see, I struggle with Idia’s hair myself and constantly redraw it until I’m satisfied or at least tired enough to say “eh, that’ll do”. In case you’re wondering, it took me ~25-30 minutes to do the hair, and the original video was 59 min long lol I always spend a lot of time moving, reshaping and redrawing details when I draw Idia…
youtube
I’ll also list some tips and thoughts about it based on the way I draw it…
The shape of Idia’s hair is not at all consistent. Even in Toboso’s art it looks slightly different sometimes, which makes sense, because Idia has magical fire hair and technically you could do whatever you want with it.
But some rules tend to apply each time. For example, even though Idia’s hair is long and seems naturally “heavy” because of it, the individual strands tend to be turned upwards, like fire would. Not every single one, but the shorter ones and the ones closer to Idia’s head tend to do so.
Tumblr media
It’s wavy, but not too wavy. If the hair starts looking too “soft”, add sharp edges, random strands sticking out, rough shapes, etc.
Tumblr media
Oh, and it’s important to remember that it floats. This means, it doesn’t just go straight down, it does this weird “S” shape. It’s also hella long, I always forget just how long Idia’s hair is. If the magic fire logic didn’t apply to it, it would reach the ground easily. The volume of his hair is much bigger than I tend to remember too: it's quite thick and luscious lol So please give him lots of hair!
Tumblr media
Tiny little flames + “holes” in the main ehh body of hair (wow there must be a way to phrase it better) make everything look good and more believable. Have fun with it. You might’ve noticed, I draw and redraw and move them around a lot in my speedpaint.
Obviously, I am no expert, and every artist I know draws Idia’s hair a little bit differently. The speedpaint doesn’t show it, but I always have some of Toboso’s artworks of Idia open when I draw him, just to make sure his design is not too off. I would definitely recommend looking at refs while drawing Idia (or anyone), and maybe even trying to redraw the hair from Toboso’s artworks once or twice as a study, it’ll probably make it easier to understand how Idia’s hair works.
Tumblr media
You haven’t asked about the colouring, but I love colouring Idia’s hair, so I’ll talk about it a little. Colouring Idia’s hair is simultaneously the most fun and the most tedious part of drawing him lol 15 minutes of my hour long video is just me filling Idia’s hair with the base blue colour with a lasso (I refuse to use a bucket tool…)
Tumblr media
But once you’re done with the base, this is where the fun begins. Because at this stage you can be pretty rough, just add in darker and deeper blues near the middle/core(?) of the hair mass. It doesn’t have to be very even or pretty, add some smaller dark spots; we personally really love it when Idia has this round little blob on his bangs. In the video you can see that I added it later on because I forgot about it lol
Tumblr media
After the dark part is done, erase the ends of it a little bit with a soft brush. Not too much, we should still be able to see the shapes.
Tumblr media
Then, on a separate layer set on overlay mode, with the same soft brush add some additional brighter spots, to make the hair look glowy. I used the same light blue as the base colour, and the overlay gives it a pretty hue.
Tumblr media
And finally, add some white highlights at the ends of the strands. This is the stage when everything stops looking wrong and weird and starts looking like Idia, at least to me.
Tumblr media
Phew, I think this is everything I wanted to say… I hope it was at least somewhat helpful.
Sorry for the long post, I just love talking about the drawing process. And about Idia too!
Once again, thank you for your kind words; I’m very happy that you like my art.
Have a good day!

And We're Live!
Tumblr media
Bruh a Miss Kaya update? Sweet! As we've said with Academy, this blog fully stans certified good girl Miss Kaya. I love her outfit here, she was really one of this series's first more classy, modest girlies and say what you will about how Oda draws women but I'm noticing she's not one of the ones who got a Timeskip breast augmentation. Usopp's former crew look like they're growing up fast too. This is a good group, still hope we get more Kaya in Academy because I really like her as the sickly girl who doesn't make it to school all the time. Clever use of a character on Sohei Koji's part.
We can talk about Academy over Golden Week though, because Vegapunk's message is going live! Which means sadly we're done with the fun of dicking around for ten minutes. The Vega Coffee bit was so, so good though. We'll get to the ramifications as we go but first there is a reason for Miss Kaya. Take note of all these people we see, how places like Torino highlight that darker side. VP will even own up to some of his own "sins" in his message. It's a very diffuse reaction to the man. Someone who inspires a lot of different reactions. It's important to pay attention when a story does that, but let's move on:
Tumblr media
Hahaha lol eat a dick Mars. Classic decoy maneuver. We did get the brain in a jar! In a chapter where Vegapunk "confirms" his own death and an arc where we've played this game with Kuma. Remember Mars doesn't actually know the deal, he himself is pondering a little over what counts as the real Vegapunk. So I'm inclined to ponder if it is just what we see; part of his brain serving as more or less a hard drive. As much the real him as that paw bubble of memories was the real Kuma. Shout-out to Bonney and her Giant-ish future by the way. It was cool, but pretty much reinforces the same themes. You're acting like Luffy and the crew has fully shifted to treating you (appropriately) as a little kid to watch out for.
The decoy snail though...I like it. Could it have been a long game by Vegapunk? Of course, and keeping York out of the loop is believable. But being on the floor randomly is still weird and putting it right in front of the big brain tank seems rather risky for Vegapunk. Why would he want to nudge at that connection. Get what I'm saying? This is a weirder beat than it seems, but it would make perfect sense through the lens of someone else reacting. Great way to cover one's tracks by just letting the natural assumption take course. There's one part of Vegapunk's speech that bolsters this to me:
Tumblr media
Please do not assume that the ones who strike me down are evil. That plus what he says here? Do...not track with thinking the Gorosei would be the ones who came after him. Sounds a little more like he expected Luffy, Bonney, someone like that to take him out. Or even Lucci. It's subtle, but actually a great remind that this all has nothing to do with the Straw Hats. Remember that old theme? The extra effort from the World Government is because of an emperor drifting into the situation. You can't act so casually when the world rocks in your wake. That still seems to be the core lesson for Luffy.
Speaking of, we get another nudge at one of last night's big mysteries. How did Robin get in such rough shape? The scenes before we skip the night set it up okay, she was headed right into a confrontation with York. But it's still a lingering question. And speaking of "lingering," you have the Gorosei hammering that Bakura Town/Ryokugyu theme hard. Reminds me of someone who knows no one called Vermin. The message though, it's what we're all here for. Well, I'm here for Nami Protect Mode.
Tumblr media
I have some thoughts about this. Not the reveal itself. Sorta what we saw with Lulusia at the start, the fallout I mean. Excellent through line with Wano and it's own history. Makes Iceberg look so cool in hindsight because he at least was a good enough leader to see it happening locally. Type of thing a shipwright-turned-politician would notice your typical noble wouldn't. Very classic looming threat, makes me think of Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou which was our world after massive sea level rise.
Let me just say one thing. This is fucking hilarious from a certain perspective. Imagine you're chilling. Doing your thing. Every PC and Windows product in the world fires up. Bill Gates is streaming live. He takes ten minutes to dick around with coffee then promptly announces his death before telling everyone their own death is imminent because [government conspiracy]. The reaction is going to be wild. Makes me think of David Bowie's "Five Years." If you're a fan, see if you can find the live version from the Dinah Shore show. You won't regret it. That Man Who Fell to Earth look was iconic and you gotta love managing a 4th wall break in a rock opera.
We've talked about this with Robonosuke, who's hanging around in the background still. This is an even better detail someone who learned a lot from Toki would know. Even if it's indirect relevance, it's the exact type of knowledge a modern scholar would find as a big surprise but a friend of the lady from the Void Century could just casually know. Maybe not a fancy sea chart, but say to the degree of a rough map?
Tumblr media
Just saying, type of thing there's scenes to support it. The map is right there with some of the first ones that really show Kiku acting like a nanny with Momonosuke. The Act plot with Olin had a lot of subtle bait the girl's a little distinct from the group we'd build on in Act 3. Aside from all that though, just this basic setup of the chapter? We start on a few vignettes around the world showing different reactions to Vegapunk. Then we set up everyone in dire straits as Luffy's run out of gas. Injected a little new mystery through Stussy/York. Now we end on a big reveal that doesn't affect the matter at hand as we pull away from the island?
It's easy to say at a lot of points but if there's a third cutaway...we may be going into it after Golden Week.

All right, here's a Making Of/How To for the Tater Tyke, since it's been requested.
Tumblr media
I will try to explain everything as best as I can.
I'm sure you could use any clay, but I went with Super Sculpey specifically. An oven bake clay just gives you more control and time to work with it than air dry.
These are nine millimeters tall, so take a very small amount of clay, and form it into a smooth ball. If you want to make two, make one bigger ball and cut it in half, so you're left with about the same amount of clay for each Tater Tyke.
Tumblr media
Now roll them, gently, against your work surface to shape them into a cylinder, but make sure the edges have a soft transition.
Don't forget to use a reference!
Tumblr media
You'll see that he's a little thicker toward the bottom, important detail.
Next, I sculpted the mouth, for which I used this tool:
Tumblr media
I do not what it's called, it just came with the set I have. You don't need this one specifically, the flat, somewhat pointed end is what matters. With it, I pressed the shape in to make the teeth a little 3d, and then smoothed out whatever areas lost their shape a little in the process.
Now the body is done! Onto the limbs.
Starting with the feet, take a tiny, and I do mean tiny, ball of clay. I used my fingernails to press them into triangles, where they will end up being a little bulky, so press them a bit flatter.
You should be left with something like this.
Tumblr media
Repeat the same process for the hands, but make them slightly smaller, and rounder where the fingers would be, to form a teardrop-shape.
Now you can attach them. Apply a little liquid clay where they should go, which will function like glue. If you're using air dry clay, you can just attach them and glue them on more permanently after they've dried.
Tumblr media
For the position, the angle is a bit difficult to explain. I put the base of the feet just slightly closer together than the tips of the teeth, and made them point outward, so they're just sitting comfortably. For the hands, I pressed them a little more firmly on where the arms would be, so that they look more natural going out from the body, and made the ends of them go outward a bit more.
And that's it for sculpting! Let them dry/ bake, and then you can move on to painting.
First, cover them in white paint as a base, because yellow is always rather translucent. But do so carefully, acrylic paint can leave texture, which would be quite noticeable at this scale.
Now, the paint colors I used are primary yellow, vermilion red, white, black, ivory and lavender.
I mixed yellow together with just a little red, to be left with a light orange. This, however, was too bright, so I added just a smidge of lavender to dull the color out a bit. This is the base color, which I fully painted the little guys in.
Then, I made a slightly lighter and darker version of this shade, by adding a little yellow or red respectively. I took my crappiest small brush and stippled these colors on somewhat randomly.
I made one even darker shade by adding just a little more red, and the lightest shade by adding ivory.
I used these colors to force/fake the lighting. Add the darkest shade on the bottom and right side of the Tater Tyke, and the lightest shade on the upper and left side. Again, stippling them on.
I also used the darker shade on the base of the feet, and then highlighted the edges of them and the hands with the lightest shade.
Like I said, yellow-ish colors like this are always rather translucent, so they blend together quite well. But if something looks too harsh, just brush some of it away with your finger, that should soften the transition.
Now, once again using the darkest shade, take your smallest detail brush and add a line right under the mouth, to make it pop more. You can also outline the limbs like this.
Here are more pictures to hopefully help you get a better idea of everything I'm trying to explain.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All that's missing now are the eyes and eyebrows.
For the eyes, I used a small dotting tool to archive that round shape more easily. I recommend trying this out on a different surface first, to get a feel for it.
If the eyes aren't perfect circles, you can push paint that juts out too far in with your fingernail, acrylic paint is pretty forgiving. Once they're dry, you can round out areas with your detail brush.
Use a smaller dotting tool for the pupils. I made them a bit cross eyed, because I noticed that in the show, and I think it looks cute. If you don't like the position of the pupils, wipe them off and let the remaining paint dry. Paint over with white again, and give it another shot.
Finally, the eyebrows. They're just a black line. Use your thin brush and reference the show. The eyebrows really influence the expression, so be careful. I recommend not placing them too high to avoid a spooked look.
That's it for painting! But we're not quite done. I covered them in a thin layer of Liquitex Matte Varnish, which really helps bring out the colors more. I painted most of them in a thin coat, let them dry for three hours, and then painted the areas I couldn't reach before.
But this varnish is never actually matte, so I also used a spray varnish (Molotov matte UV varnish). I bought it some time ago because it's the only one that seemed good that I could find for a decent price, and I like it a lot.
It dries fast and doesn't get moody depending on the temperature and humidity, and the results look great, in my experience. It leaves a very small amount of texture, which I like, because it makes my sculptures easier to photograph. My camera doesn't like to focus on anything too smooth. Im just mentioning the texture, because I'm not sure you'd want that for something like doll customisation. Especially because it can lighten colors if you add to many layers of it.
I was initially concerned about using spray varnish on something so small, but it wasn't an issue. i put the Tater Tykes on some aluminium foil outside, and put some rocks on it so it won't fly away.
Don't forget to wear protective glasses and a good mask! This stuff is toxic. That goes for any spray varnish, honestly.
And that's it! Really this time. Just let them fully dry and you've got yourself some adorable little fellas.
They took me around five hours to make, but that's mostly because I hadn't made something like them before. Figuring everything out eats up a lot of time. The process would go by quicker if I made them again.
I hope this helps if anyone is genuinely interested in making them, feel free to ask if you have questions. If you were just curious, I hope this was somewhat interesting.
On a final note, I'd just like to say that I'm really happy everyone likes them as much as I do, and I'm looking forward to making more doll accessories in the future.
Have a great day! And remember to drink some water, I seem to have forgotten to do so while writing this.

Sorry to ask! I've been trying to find good resources to learn how to mod (both to create my own but also do mashups) and cannot seem to find any on my own that I can comprehend. So many rely on having basic knowledge of modding, and I'm at an assumed 0% of even where to begin. Do you have any resources you could share? ;w;
I long lost most of my guides but I'll make a walk-through for this here, with pictures.
HAIR MASHUPS:
Say you want to mash up a hair that's viera only with a hair that every other race has, like my longer styled for hire mod.
Find the hairs in Textools, and then EXPORT them as .fbx:
Tumblr media
Next, open blender and import the hairs in from the dropdown file menu. It'll look like this. (NOTE THE FILES ON THE RIGHT SIDE! THESE ARE ALL VERY IMPORTANT!)
Tumblr media
Now expand the files on the right side so they look like this. You'll be immediately joining the pieces together.
Tumblr media
Select from the N_root of the hair you're stealing parts from, and drag up to the N_root you're making the base hair. HOLD SHIFT! Otherwise it'll be a bad boy.
and be sure to have ALL the things under that root node selected like I have it.
Tumblr media
It'll drop the hair down to the ground like this. Click the orange box on the right hand menus and then, one piece at a time (don't select them all and try to do it, just won't work) rotate them to 90 degrees.
Tumblr media
Next, join the bones together. They're those triangles.
SAVE! BEFORE! YOU DO THIS! Blender likes to crash randomly, but especially with "join" functions.
Select them either on the sandbox, or by holding CTRL and selecting the N_roots in the files.
Tumblr media
Now you have one bone for all the hair pieces to work off of. You will have to reassign bones- i will show you later in the guide.
But now, we get to some very very important parts! Discussing node pieces.
Tumblr media
First of all, before you do anything- look at their names. Au Ra Male is "1301", Viera male is "1701." I'll be renaming the Viera's pieces to match the Au ra's pieces in a minute, but don't start with that.
Instead, look to the numbers on the right. Those are the NODES. The numbers after the "." are just different parts, but the numbers BEFORE that are the actual different pieces!
0.X nodes will have different TEXTURES AND ATTRIBUTES than 1.X, 2.0 nodes. THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR TEXTOOLS! Pay attention to what pieces of hair are in "0.X" and so on.
But for the X.1, X.2, X.3? As long as they're all on the same node, you are free to join them.
IN A LOT OF OLD HAIRS THEY WILL HAVE A LOT OF PARTS! Feel free to join them if they're under the same main node!
Now, the Viera hair honestly can be one piece. It's got main hair and some fragments. So, I joined them together like how I would bones.
THEN!
I renamed them to match the naming structure (including this green thing in the dropdown) but put them on a whole new main node! (NOTE: see, it's 2.0 now instead of 0.0)
Tumblr media
That's MOST of the technical bits out of the way.
Now we focus on modeling the hair. There's two tabs to model under. "Modeling" and "Sculpting."
Modeling is for deleting/moving individual pieces of polygons/deleting entire polygons.
This is the tool I mainly use: Poly Build. It allows me to click and drag polygons by their verticies and make new ones.
Tumblr media
If you make new polygons, you have to triangulate your build when you're exporting your save to a new .fbx!
When you have "poly build" on, you can hold "Shift" and delete polygons or verticies.
(If you need to join verticies together, use the select tool and hold CTRL and click on the verticies you want to join one at a time, right click, and go to "merge at center" or "merge at first/last" depending on what you need)
Sculpting is for the entire shape of the hair you have highlighted.
Here are the tools I use in Sculpting:
Tumblr media
The top one is "Grab", it grabs onto a vertex and pulls on it SHARPLY, so use it for very accurate things.
However, the other one that I have selected in that picture is "elastic deform." It grabs a VERY LARGE AREA and pulls on it gently, I use it for shifting things around by a large margin.
NOW! Let's say you did everything you want. You deleted, you moved things, you joined things.
Now, assign a bone. The part of the hair we moved from Viera doesn't have a bone anymore! So sad. So go back to "layout" and click the part of the hair the viera hair is on, and go to "Modifier properties"
Tumblr media
Ignore the part at the top, just click on "object"'s box and select "n_root" and it'll have bones now.
You did it! Wow, look at that hair!
Tumblr media
(results my vary)
Now you save it as a .blend once more, just to make sure it's there in case you fucked up somewhere.
Once you've done that, you're going to save it as an .FBX again.
Tumblr media
Name it what you want, untick "add leaf bones" and "apply modifiers", while also selecting "Triangulate faces" if you NEED to- if not, don't bother.
You now have the hair modeled out. This... was only half the journey. Now you need to harvest the Normal and Multi layers of the hair you joined in with your base model and make a new texture.
To navigate to the different texture maps, it's on the upper right.
Remember, Normal files are _n, and Multis are _s
NOTE: TEXTOOLS ONLY ALLOWS FOUR TEXTURES /APPLIED/ ON HAIR. You don't have to delete unused textures, but you can only use four of them max.
Since my hair uses Viera hair 14, I go to Viera hair 14 on textools (note, for midlander based hairs you'll probably have to go to the midlander hair menus for the textures. You will see why in a moment.)
Tumblr media
Export these as .dds, extract them from the folder they go to (lower right again) and now go alllll the way up to hair 157 on MIDLANDER.
Even though this hair is being made for au ra, it's ALL based on midlanders! IT'S A CONSPIRACY--
Next you click "more options" on the lower left, and this will pull up. Click the dropdown for "backfaces" and click "show backfaces"
then click the button "use unique textures". After you do that, it should look like this in the menu, and click "save"
Tumblr media
You now have a blank texture.
Tumblr media
Press "import" and put the _n texture of the hair on the normal, then use the dropdown on the upper right and go to multi and import the _s there.
REMEMBER THE TEXTURE NAME, it'll probably be something like Acc_C or Hir_C!
Once you've done that, it's a matter of uploading the .fbx.
Go back to au ra hair 157, press "import" on the "models" tab, and click your .fbx. Then, don't have any of the boxes checked (unless you are a miqote, then it's UV1 to [1,-1]) and press "open editor."
Tumblr media
This is the part where I told you to remember which Root Nodes applied to which pieces of hair.
The base hair is on 0.X and 1.0, so all we care about is editing rootnode 2.0 in this guide.
Tumblr media
Go to Rootnode 2, click the dropdown, click custom, then type in the Hir_B or acc_c address you need, then hit import!
Tumblr media
BEHOLD, ART
Now you load into game, check if it works. If it does, go to "mods>create mods>basic modpacks" and select the pieces you changed.
Ask or DM me if you need anything else :)
Extra tips: if you want to scale things, but are having difficulty because the scale point is way too low- go to layout, click on "object" and "set origin" to "geometry," then press "S" and scale easier.

Okay so I gotta talk about this now.
So I understand the criticisms of people going against the portrayal of Jasons Robin in the new RHATO webtoon and the more reckless side coming out while they're looking for the artifact with the "dangerous? Please" comments.
So, we don't see as much of Jason as Robin in that beginning moment. He gets a couple lines. One asking what the world ever did for him or his parents, and one kind of teasing Batman.
I actually kind of agree with that statement. Now, I do believe that Jason as Robin was a happy kid who believed being Robin gave him magic and had so much love in his heart and compassion. I go off about how he wasnt the angry, impulsive Robin people make him out to be;
But that doesn't mean he didn't grow up on the streets of Gotham without his parents. That doesn't mean he doesn't realize how rough it is out there.
This also was a conversation that actually does really well with Bruce and kind of highlight the light and love in Bruce and how he's trying to help Jason, because he knows Jason has seen the toughest reality but that there is good in the world. Bruce helped shape Jason and helped him feel safe and secure enough to be a happier kid, full of energy and loving to read.
What this early part of the comic reads as is something that happens after Jason completes his training. Like something that happens the first night Bruce takes Jason out with him; the final lesson before he's actually thrust into the role of a sidekick in the field.
Bruce and Jason have a lot of similarities when you look at them and I do think it's because Bruce had a profound impact on Jasons development as a person. Again, he was a kid constantly living in survival mode until he was given a sense of security by being adopted. It's not perfect security, he's still fighting supervillains, but he's okay enough to let his guard down and let people in. This could actually us seeing that side of Jason starting to come out, one that wants to heal and see the good in the world and have that joy that he was never safe enough to truly have.
(I'm more angry about the "We didn't feel like a family" part because shut up yes they were. Bruce did his best and also ALFREDS RIGHT THERE. But Jasons also now looking back on his past with other complex traumas that have arisen since he was adopted and is still healing from the trauma of his life before Bruce. So there might be reason for that).
As for the reckless bit, yeah, no, that scene read...weirdly to me. I didn't like it. However, looking back, I'm beginning to wonder if it's possible that Jason knew they were being watched and decided to act dumb.
See, Jasons a meticulous planner. And there's no doubt he knows that he has a little bit of an advantage of people read him wrong; people see him as the angry, impulsive jackass who goes in guns literally ablazing. He knows he's not.
However, he can use that to his advantage. Keep people from figuring out he's on to them. Make them underestimate his abilities as a detective and fighter by playing into that role, while he's digging around for the truth. After all, of course he's gonna question why Huntress' supossedly dead father just randomly showed up and sent him on a mission. Artemis knows something is up and isn't afraid to say so, but Jason might be playing along until he can turn the tables on Bertinelli once hes got the pieces together.
At least, that's what I'm hoping it's gonna end up being. Because that would actually be really good writing but that's just me. Or that if that's not the case, then whatever that comment was doesn't happen in later chapters (I've only read the first 3 that have just released, not the early access ones).
All in all, still hopeful and still enjoying what I'm reading.

An In-depth Analysis of Digital Ownership and Value | Vladimir Okhotnikov
In the rapidly evolving world of digital assets, non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have sparked curiosity and controversy. In this extensive blog post, we delve into the insights of Vladimir Okhotnikov, an analytical article author who skillfully connects complex technology concepts with practical financial applications. His work sheds light on the motivations behind NFT purchases, their value, and the implications of decentralization in the digital world. Just as people collect stamps, buy expensive paintings, or own cars for various reasons, NFT buyers have their motivations. Some enjoy collecting unique digital items, while others find the excitement similar to sports. Increasing one's status in a narrow circle, feeling a connection to a celebrity, or keeping up with modern trends are also factors driving NFT purchases. The Amazon Kindle Incident and the Power of Decentralization — Vladimir Okhotnikov Vladimir Okhotnikov references an article from 2009 titled 'Why 2024 Will Be Like Nineteen Eighty-Four,' which discussed Amazon randomly deleting books from users' Kindle devices. This incident highlighted the legal differences between purchasing paper and electronic books and the control large technology companies wield over digital content. Okhotnikov draws parallels between this event and the emergence of blockchain and NFTs, which offer decentralized protection against arbitrary changes or deletion of content. Despite criticism towards NFTs, Vladimir Okhotnikov argues that they share common features with traditional collectibles, making them a viable option in the digital world. The value of digital collectibles is symbolic and not tied to functionality, and physical ownership is not a critical factor in status. As technology and infrastructure develop, the speculative nature of the NFT market may give way to a more sustainable ecosystem. Critics argue that NFTs do not provide real ownership rights, but Okhotnikov questions whether other digital goods offer genuine ownership. When purchasing games on Steam or content from Amazon, users are subject to the whims of these companies, which can remove access to digital goods at any time. In contrast, NFTs provide a level of ownership and control that is otherwise lacking in the digital realm. The Amazon Scam and the Need for Decentralized Solutions — Vladimir Okhotnikov The ability of companies like Amazon to delete digital content without user consent highlights the need for decentralized solutions. NFTs, built on blockchain technology, offer a way to protect digital ownership rights and prevent unilateral actions by corporations or third parties.
NFTs represent a shift in the way we perceive ownership and value in the digital world. While they may not be a foolproof tool for making money, they do provide a technology that grants absolute rights to own a digital asset. As we navigate the complexities of digital ownership, NFTs offer a decentralized solution that protects users from the arbitrary decisions of corporations and third-party actors. By understanding the insights provided by Vladimir Okhotnikov, readers can gain a deeper appreciation for the potential of NFTs and their role in shaping the future of digital collectibles.

Character Spotlight: Geordi La Forge
By Ames
Tumblr media
Our tour through the Enterprise-D wouldn’t be complete without a dive under the door to engineering, so join A Star to Steer Her By for this week’s character spotlight as we take a look through Geordi La Forge’s schematics. There’s a lot to love about The Next Generation’s chief engineer, probably the greatest being the portrayal by film and television legend LeVar Burton. In any other actor’s hands, Geordi just wouldn’t be Geordi.
But sometimes, Geordi can really just be way too Geordi, as you’ll see as you read on below for our best and worst La Forge moments! Let’s just say, he’s a character who makes remarkable friendships throughout the show, and he really should leave all his relationships at that. You can also adjust your VISOR frequency to our corresponding banter over on this week’s podcast episode (discussion at 1:17:39). Now get ready to tuck and roll!
Best moments
Tumblr media
Prepare to initiate separation sequence When La Forge is left briefly in charge of the ship in “The Arsenal of Freedom,” he is almost immediately put to the test by the planet’s defense system, and he keeps his cool even while receiving constant backtalk from Logan. It’s one of few instances we see the saucer separate as well, allowing Geordi to make use of the battle bridge to save the day!
Tumblr media
Elementary, my dear La Forge One of the highlights of all of Next Gen is watching the friendship between Data and Geordi take shape and grow, and early on we get some great moments of them playing Holmes and Watson together on the holodeck in “Elementary, Dear Data,” which is undoubtedly sweet. Extra kudos to La Forge for putting up with Data’s shenanigans when he’s got all the stories memorized too.
Tumblr media
Have you tried turning it off and on again? It’s always a joy getting to watch the engineers do their whiz kid stuff, and we get a good taste of that in “Contagion” when Geordi is inspired by Data randomly restarting himself and uses that as a launching point for wiping the Yamato’s records out of the Enterprise as well. It’s Information Technology 101, and he does it so well!
Tumblr media
The best piece of engineering we’ll ever need Speaking of great engineering feats, La Forge does it again in “Booby Trap” when he concocts the purely manual solution to get out of the literal booby trap. Because the issue is with the computer, he opts to turn the whole thing off and have Picard pilot through the debris field himself. All you gotta do is ignore some of the weird holo-Leah stuff and it’s quite brilliant!
Tumblr media
I will be your eyes Somehow, all of La Forge’s platonic relationships hit some really high marks, and he forms enough of a trust with Bochra in “The Enemy” that the two are able to survive on Galorndon Core. You’d never think humans and Romulans could find common ground before, but when these two find that they need each other, you think there might be hope yet.
Tumblr media
Computer, identify the source of this shadow Geordi has another very nice friendship with his old crewmate Susanna Leijton in “Identity Crisis,” but the most impressive part of this episode is the great sleuthing that he does with some video tapes and the holodeck to determine that there was more on planet Tarchannen III than met the eye. In fact, there were otherwise invisible transfigured rave apes!
Tumblr media
A blind man who never would have existed in your society Appropriately, we saw Hannah Bates’s actress in our podcast coverage this week in “Two Days and Two Nights,” and that makes it a good time to bring up that Geordi totally schools her biologically engineered ass in “The Masterpiece Society.” He uses his VISOR to save the day, something no one in their colony would ever have because of their ableist views.
Tumblr media
BBFF: Best Borg Friends Forever As with his bromance with Bochra, Geordi connects with another unexpected being in “I, Borg.” Indeed, it’s the engineer’s ability to humanize even the least human, most frightening enemies that proves to be one of his best qualities throughout the show. Watching Geordi remind Hugh of his individuality, give him his name, and save him from Picard is the best of La Forge.
Tumblr media
Are you saying I'm some blind ghost with clothes? Speaking of forging friendships, La Forge shared a very clever plot with Ro Laren in “The Next Phase,” and it turns out the two of them work together splendidly! Not only do they confront what could easily be interpreted as their deaths, AND find an ingenious way back to the correct phase, but they also foil a nefarious Romulan plot. Oh dear, what would Bochra think?
Tumblr media
The Titan’s Turn Boys We picked on Riker the other week for how he acted when Jellico had command of the Enterprise in “Chain of Command.” But you know who took it like a champ and did his damn job? Freakin’ Geordi! He helped Jellico with the solution to their Cardassian problem and even used his friendliness and good nature to get him to involve that whiny Riker to pilot the shuttle.
Tumblr media
They see me rollin’, they hatin’ Whenever a chief engineer gets to roll under a slowly closing garage door, you know you’re in for a good time. It happened in “The Best of Both Worlds,” critically one of the best episodes of all of Trek. But an even better roll is in Generations in which Geordi gets a perfect score for the pirouettes and for sticking the landing in a great pose, all while saving his whole engineering crew!
Tumblr media
I’ve never seen a sunrise Finally, let’s close out the Best Moments with just a small detail from Insurrection. While we must admit that the rejuvenation storyline on Ba’ku wasn’t terribly well fleshed out, the character who really gets something out of it is Geordi. When his optic nerves have regenerated, he gets to enjoy a sunrise the natural way for the first time, and it’s tragic because he knows it won’t last.
Worst moments
Tumblr media
This is why you wear PPE Who’s keeping count of how many times “The Naked Now” or “The Naked Time” has come up in these character spotlights? Well, in the case of the TNG spinoff, you can thank La Forge for catching the Psi 2000 virus in the first place by handling a corpse with no protective equipment. And am I the only one it rubs wrong that he spent the episode complaining about being blind?
Tumblr media
An adversary capable of defeating Data Here’s another shipwide problem that was basically Geordi’s fault. With his imprecise wording, he effectively made the computer create Moriarty in the holodeck in “Elementary, Dear Data” and we see the repercussions of his mistake throughout both that episode and “Ship in a Bottle,” which I’ve already given Picard some guff about.
Tumblr media
Their rubber band broke, right? La Forge starts the abysmal “Samaritan Snare” off on the wrong foot from the word go. He makes fun of the Pakleds pretty much to their faces, which is uncomfortable on its own. But he simultaneously underestimates them, assuming them to just be dopey but affable instead of dopey and malicious. Getting kidnapped by caricatures makes for a pretty rough day.
Tumblr media
That’s a Coco No-No! It begins. Why the show decided Geordi had to be weird with women is beyond us, but it starts with his weird date with Christy in “Booby Trap.” He takes it way too personally that she’s not that into him on their date and gripes about it to Guinan afterwards. And that’s not even mentioning the rest of this squicky episode that sets Geordi up as the incel of the franchise.
Tumblr media
Hold the Broccoli Despite La Forge generally being a friendly guy and a good boss, the way he treats Barclay when we first meet him in “Hollow Pursuits” is downright shameful. Throwing around the disparaging nickname. Complaining to Picard whenever he has to be in the same room with him. Overall treating him like a leper. Not great boss behavior.
Tumblr media
I’m guilty of a terrible crime, Doctor. I offered you friendship. There’s good reason for “Galaxy’s Child” making our Worst Episodes of TNG list, and that’s that it entirely besmirches the character of Geordi La Forge. It’s one thing to get a little action with holo-Leah, but it’s another to expect the real Leah to treat you the same way. And then to turn it around so it’s all her fault? Nothing on our Best Moments list makes up for this railroading of an otherwise good character.
Tumblr media
Even in a La Forge post, O’Brien must suffer Geordi just plain wasn’t having a good day in “The Mind’s Eye” and it’s full of bad behavior that can easily be blamed on the brainwashing, but blame we will! Manchurian Candidate’d or not, Geordi La Forge was capable of killing the simulation O’Brien at the command of some Romulans, and later dumping his drink on him in real life… but that’s nothing new to the chief.
Tumblr media
A century out of date Okay, so it’s plain and true that Montgomery Scott was entirely underfoot and a bit of a hindrance for the engineering crew in “Relics.” But it’s also so sad to watch our resident miracle worker from The Original Series get treated like an obsolete dunsel. Geordi is prepared to ignore the old engineer until the captain takes him aside with another of his patented Picard pep talks.
Tumblr media
I'm starting to feel like I know her If falling for a holodeck version of Leah Brahms wasn’t creepy enough for you, don’t worry, Geordi can go lower. In “Aquiel” he falls for the eponymous character by watching her personal logs, ostensibly for an investigation, but then when he hooks up with the murder suspect when she turns out to still be alive, no one can doubt that he’s taken it too far. Like freakin’ always.
Tumblr media
How do you feel? We already saw in our spotlight on Lt. Commander Data that installing the emotion chip in Generations was a bad move. Geordi does promise to his android friend that he’ll remove the thing at the first sign of trouble… which happens at the most inopportune time right as Geordi is busy getting kidnapped by Klingons. This guy. Always getting kidnapped and reprogrammed, he is.
Tumblr media
This is the exact spot where your statue’s gonna be One more from the movies, and that’s that Geordi gets to meet one of his heroes in First Contact… and immediately creeps Zefram Cochrane out by fanboying all over him. Word of advice, Gordo: if you’re already messing with the Temporal Prime Directive, maybe don’t start talking about going to Zephram Cochrane High School to the guy.
Tumblr media
The Butterfly-in-the-sky Effect We get even more temporal shenanigans when Geordi gets a brief cameo in Voyager’s “Timeless.” Sure, LeVar was also busy directing this one so it’s a no-brainer to pop up on a viewscreen while he’s on set, but it also just feels weird for one of our past heroes to be the one browbeating our current heroes to stop their super cool time adventure. What a Herbert.
Well, our beach violinist has absconded and our Coco-no-nos have run dry, so we’ll wrap things up here. We’re wrapping season one of Enterprise over on the watchthrough on SoundCloud next week, so get ready for us to tear our hair out trying to think of highlights from that before we’re back on course with more TNG character profiles. So keep your VISOR pointed here, stay in the friendzone with us over on Facebook and Twitter, and watch the sunset with us over the bay.

Celebrating Meg @megofnuts as our highlighted artist for today! Read on for her thoughts on art, and you can find all of her magnificent artwork here!
🎨 When did you start creating art for the Inception fandom, and what is your inspiration?
It was inceptiversary 2020 that prompted me to start making art for some gorgeous and inspiring fics I've already read by then and take part in the same year's big bang to create something in collab with a writer. Team work is the best!
The characters themselves, their layers, feelings and stories told and untold are such a great source of inspiration!
🎨 Tell us about your creative process, and which part do you enjoy the most about it?
It all starts with an idea))) Could be an emotional moment in a fic that begs to capture it. Or an image that just randomly jumps out at me. Then it takes a gazillion of drafts and sketches to bring it to a kind of a satisfying shape, then the piece itself and then tons of photoediting a scan of traditional artwork into something online presentable)))
All the parts are equal amount of joy and peril for me😅 Still, with traditional art I feel more at ease at the sketching stage where it can be as loose, carefree and silly as it gets. Starting an actual clean copy always feels a bit like standing on the edge preparing for skydive, which is - not 'at ease' at all)))
🎨 Link us to your first and latest artwork, and how your style has evolved since then?
I guess, here is my first posted Inception thing and my latest artworks for Reverse Bang 2021 are here and here, and the style is still a wip at its earliest stage and has a lot of evolving to do!😅 Instead of getting stuck on details I aim to focus more on emotions, the feel and impression in general. And the characters likeness ofc!! That's my current struggle and the thing to work on.
🎨 What is your absolute favorite piece of art that you've made, and why?
Let's say it is yet to be made!😅
🎨 What is something about Inception that you really want to make art for someday, and why?
Oh, there is this list of ideas and inspiring fics as long as my arm lying in wait which I hope to work through some day! Something uplifting and colorful with the whole dream team including lovely Mal is definitely on top.
🎨 Give a shoutout to your favorite Inception artists here!
🎨 Anything else you'd like to talk about art and the Inception fandom in general ❤
(can I combine these two, if that's okay?))
Each and every - and I mean it - every artist I ever came across in the fandom inspires me with something to admire and learn from them! I'm constantly in awe of the talent, skill, creativity and also passion, commitment and kindness of all the fandom creators, viewers, commenters and organizers! Thank you all Inception people! Thank you Alicia for this incredible event! ❤

I've had Solrina's disguises for a while now and was hoping to reveal all of them in one go, but the Human form and the Demon Royalty form will have to wait.
While it's true that Solrina has been roaming Hell for a long time, many wondered how she hasn't died by just her looks alone. Simple, Sol can disguise herself like Loona can. Her first form was her Succubus form during her Verosika Mayday days. Next is her Hellhound form. I'm planning on re-doing her hellhound form after finding out Hellhounds can be different breeds of dogs (She's going to be a Collie). And last, but not least her imp form. She never explored an imp form until she met I.M.P. (story for that is gonna be in the works).
Fun facts (Imp form):
Her imp form is based off of all her imp friends (I.E. Striker's tail, Blitzø's horns, Moxxie's legs, and Millie's eye shape).
She has shock burns on her back, which Striker hates seeing because it reminds him he wasn't fast enough to help her
Blitzø will randomly hug her in imp form because her horns remind him of his sister
Fun Facts (Hellhound form):
She would use this form as a means of comforting her friends even when they say they're fine (they're not)
She would use this form a lot with Verosika, especially if she was starting to drink again
Will act like an actual dog to make people forget that it is her (I.E. *paws at arm* No, gimme pats >:<)
Fun Facts (Succubus form):
Her Succubus form would only be seen in clubs and bars during after parties
Verosika, her crew, and many of her fans believed she was a method actor because she would act like her persona 'Sudsy' even off stage (she was actually being herself)
The pink highlight in her hair is a nod to Verosika because she didn't know if she needed to have pink in her scheme or not

So I've never really talked about why season 4 is my least favorite TWD game, but I'm hoping I can sum up my thoughts tastefully though tbh I get a little spiteful at the end because I am adhfhgk
First things first, I don't hate the game, it's just that it's on the bottom of my list compared to the others. Narratively it's pretty heavy-handed with the "Walkers are still people" idea which isn't a bad idea to explore but it feels out of place or not fully realized. The best example is in the very beginning with the Walker couple in the train station. AJ suggests we kill them for the key, then Clementine tells him "but they used to be people. And as people, they asked to be left alone". Personally, I feel like the note and their hands tied together were enough to get that idea across but they felt the need to have Clementine explicitly speak the other side of the argument just to highlight their point. It wasn't needed, and this happens all the time throughout the game.
Even more frustrating is that Clementine has a set personality in s4 regardless of what your Clementine was like in ANF because ANF is was completely discarded by the narrative. Yet even my s2 Clementine would've killed the Walker couple, but all of a sudden she feels extreme empathy for them. Maybe if you're playing a soft Clementine, sure. But the hardened badass of s3 wouldn't have said that.
If you choose not to kill them, then yes by all means she could say that to explain her reasoning to AJ. But by saying before the decision it makes it seem like killing Walkers is against my Clementine's morals -- which it's not.
And therein lies the issue I take with s4. Unlike the other seasons, where you could do arguably cruel things but still feel justified (lying to Hershel & Shawn, protecting Duck instead of Shawn, saving Doug/Carley over the other, killing the St. Johns, stealing from the car, leaving Lilly, pushing Omid, threatening Vernon, killing Ben, the list goes on--) but in s4, if you're not a complete pacifist the narrative itself beats you over the head with "but what if you were nicer? Hm? Bet you feel like shit. You made AJ a monster because you didn't say thank you when someone held a door open for you." And it's like... no?? What?? Idk why Clementine is acting this way bec I certainly don't feel bad for the choices I made.
James is one thing, he's just one character, and I respect him for standing by his ideals even though I don't agree with them. But it feels like the game was written and coded by James. No one else has different opinions than him or contest him, no one agrees with Clem that sometimes you have to kill people to protect yourself, and the entire story is written saying that his ideals are right. I feel like the conversation was so nuanced in s1 & in s3, a bit in s2, but in s4 it just says, "this is right, this is wrong, and if you choose what we as the writers disagree with then we're going to make Clementine feel like shit" so I feel like my choices didn't even shape the narrative. I was wrong, that was that, and I'd need to play again to see the "good" end.
Aside from the narrative itself, I also did not get incredibly attached to the Ericson cast (Aasim was cool af but got put in a cupboard for the majority of the game & Mitch the Bitch was also cool but he died randomly) so when Clementine was kicked out I was like ... okay, I don't really care. I only feel bad for AJ cause he seemed to like it but personally I wasn't gonna miss it. Then I have to go back and help these people?? Prove myself?? Huh? I don't even like y'all. 🤨 I hardly know you TO like you! I'm hitting the road good luck with the kidnappers.
The community of teenagers also gave me a young adult series vibe, I'm getting Hunger Games, I'm getting Divergent, I'm getting that one with the girl in a crystal ball on the cover, and I don't like any of those series. It feels like s4 was written about a teenager for teenagers, and I'm 21. Even s2, with a 11 y/o protagonist, felt like she was in a very dangerous adult world, s4's world is a teenager's world. S4 doesn't even feel like it's the same world as the previous seasons. The pieces are there, but the way the narrative uses those pieces is just so lackluster.
They also did the "is life precious or not?" thing that ANF did, but this time simplified it to the point that it was literally in the dialogue asking you. ANF handled that theme with grace and nuance, weaving it into the story subtly but still very much present. You weren't beat over the head with the idea, you were quietly influenced by the storytelling until the story beats where you must ask yourself, "Do I hold the authority to decide who lives and dies? Is it my place to decide that? And in the end, do my decisions make an impact? Do I hold the god-like power I think I do?"
Apparently most TWDG players don't read like. Actual books because it completely flew over their heads. I think that's why s4 DOES just outright ask you over and over and over if killing is right because obviously the main audience needed it in big bold letters. This frustrates me to no end because it killed whatever stock I had in the story. Especially when I complied with all James's requests to not hurt the Walkers, but after my walk in the barn I stood by my belief that Walkers are not people, so he suddenly went from being my best friend to hating me and spitting vemon at me??? I never want to hear anyone hate on Jane or Kenny again after that. He demands you be open minded to his beliefs, but he's not open minded to your's!! It's so hypocritical that it's baffling. That's when it all clicked for me. "Ohhhhhhh. This game has a very strong idea of what the right choice is, and if I choose differently I'm going to get a shit ending..."
And so I got a pretty ehhhhh ending!! Because fuck em, that's why! I partly choose to shoot Lilly not because I wanted to, but because it felt like they were trying to force me not to! I ended the game exactly how I started it: Ericson's is eh, okay. The cast has potential but is never fully realized. At least AJ is happy. And that's.... not the feeling you want when you finish a game series.

Understanding and Choosing the Best Tattoo Needle Cartridge Configuration
Tumblr media
When performing a permanent makeup (PMU) procedure or completing a tattoo artwork, choosing the best needle cartridge configuration is crucial to delivering a high-quality masterpiece. Which needle cartridge you use significantly influences the final product and your client's response, as well as their experience during the procedure.
Certain configurations work better for meeting specific goals. Ultimately, randomly picking tattoo needles may reduce your productivity or lead to poor outcomes and increased client discomfort. In this blog, we'll look at different configurations and offer tips for needle cartridge usage and selection.
Configuration refers to how needles are arranged and grouped in a cartridge. Its configuration tells you how the needle is referred to and what it's often used for. Different configurations can vary in how they deposit pigment and the degree of trauma they cause on your client's skin.
Here are some of the tattoo needles for professionals that are on the market currently:
Round liners (RL) for lining
Just as their name suggests, RL cartridges are typically used for drawing solid-looking lines. It's composed of needles arranged in a tight circle. The number of needles in the cartridge varies; 1RL has one needle, 3RL has three needles, and so on. As the number of needles increases, so does the thickness of the line it creates.
You can use 1RL and 3RL cartridge needles for calligraphy and drawing pattern borders. Some artists use bigger RL needle configurations to stipple or draw heavy lines.
Round shaders (RS) for making softer-edged lines
RS configurations are similar to RL ones, but the needles are slightly wider apart. This feature makes them unideal for lining, but it also causes less trauma to the skin. Like round liners, RS cartridges come in different needle groupings.
You can use RS tattoo needle configurations for making lines with softer edges, which are sometimes preferable for realistic tattoos. They are also ideal for shading, drawing highlights, and packing colors.
Flats (F) for lining and shading
Flat configurations are usually made up of a needle bar with several needle points arranged tightly in a single row; 4F has four points, 5F has five points, and so on. Because of their shape, flats excel at both shading and making very thin and precise lines. They also offer greater coverage than RS configurations, making them great for color packing.
Flats can be trickier to use than other configurations. Their shape makes it easy for them to cut the skin, so they can cause your clients discomfort if you don't know how to tilt the needle properly.
Magnums are all-rounders
A regular weaved magnum (M1) configuration resembles a flat but has two rows of needles. They're versatile and are especially great for color packing and blending colors. All the pins in this configuration are the same length, this allows the artist to get closer to the edge when packing color.
Curved magnums (M1C or RM)  are also weaved and have an arched shape in which the outer needles are shorter than the ones in the middle. Due to the curved shape, this allows for a gentler shading process. Curved mags are often used for packing color and smooth shading.
Stacked Magnums (M2) are not weaved, they are two rows of needles, stacked like soda cans, and then soldered together. Unlike weaved magnums, stacked magnum pins are closer to each other. They are ideal for stronger saturation of color, require fewer passes over the skin but can be difficult to use by inexperienced artists.
TriFlat™ needles for detailed textures
An innovative configuration, the TriFlat™ tattoo needle by Grip Needles is similar to flats. However, TriFlat™ needles are composed of individual 3RL needles and are spaced wider apart than a regular flat. This feature reduces skin trauma and controls ink deposition, making it possible to layer pigment without quickly oversaturating an area.
TriFlat™ needles are perfect for stippling and drawing fine lines, such as those used in PMU eyebrow and eyelash procedures. You can also use them for making detailed textures and patterns, such as fur, stone, and wood grain.
Because of their potential applications in both PMU and tattooing, TriFlat™ needles have been touted as the future of both art forms. Experience the difference and elevate your craft by buying your own TriFlat™ needles today.
