A/n- Can we js pretend the film has the accents, Letterboxd had nothing😭🙏 I am also painfully aware that curisers are not strong. especially Australian ones. I'm also really unhappy with this chapter.

After school, Spider arrives at your house, eagerly knocking on the door. When you open it, he flashes his signature grin. "Hey, Y/n. Ready for our little soiree?" He asks excitedly, stepping inside. He glances around the living room, taking note of the decorations. "Not a bad pad ya got here. Reminds me of home a bit, actually." He chuckles, trying to ease the tension. "So, what's the plan? Movies? Music? Or maybe a game night?" He suggests casually, attempting to gauge your mood. Unable to contain his nerves, he sits down on the couch, occasionally glancing at you.
Y/n sits next to him, "hmm well what are you feeling Spider?" she shifts, pulling her shirt neckline down accidentally,
Spider's eyes are immediately drawn to the glimpse of cleavage, his pulse accelerating. He quickly looks away, trying to maintain his composure. "Well, I reckon it depends on you, Y/n. Whatever you want is fine by me," he replies, struggling to mask the sudden rush of desire. He shifts awkwardly, avoiding eye contact as he speaks. "Though...maybe we could start with somethin' simple? Wine and a movie, perhaps?" He suggests, hoping it'd set the mood for the evening. Despite his earlier proposal, seeing your bare skin had changed his priorities somewhat.
"wine? yeah, I'll see what we have. You planning on getting drunk tonight Spider?" you smirk teasingly.
Spider returns your smirk with one of his own. "Depends on how much you've got, mate," he quips, raising an eyebrow suggestively. "But I'm up for a few glasses, yeah. Can't complain about winding down with a beautiful woman and some decent vino." He saunters towards the kitchen, peering into the fridge. "Whatcha got? Red? White? Maybe something in between?" He chucks a bottle onto the counter, examining it critically before popping the cork. "This should do nicely."
Carrying the bottle and two wine glasses, you sit down together on the leather couch.
"what film are you feeling? what does Spencer White get down to?" you tease.
Grinning slyly, Spider replies, "Well, Y/n, I'm into most films. But let's keep things PG-13, shall we? Don't want any awkward moments with your ma comin' home early." He grabs the remote and flips through channels, eventually settling on a romantic comedy. "There we go. Pretty harmless." He sinks into the couch, leaning close enough to brush against your side. "Now, what did ya wanna know about ol' Spence?" He asks teasingly, a devilish glint in his eye.
"I want to know if he actually enjoys crap like this" you motion to the film, a slight laugh in your tone.
"Ah, love," Spider begins, feigning offense. "I may be a rough Aussie bloke, but I appreciate a good rom-com from time to time." He chuckles softly, nudging you playfully with his elbow. "Gotta have some heart-warming stuff in life, right?" He settles back into the couch, draping an arm along the backrest near you. "Wanna snuggle up, or remain professional over here?" He indicates the space next to him, inviting you closer.
"Is that an invite Spider?" you challenge teasingly.
Spider's cheeks flush a bright red, clearly taken aback by your comment. "Uh, yeah, I guess it was," he stammers, stuttering slightly. "I didn't mean anything by it, Leia. Just thought we could watch the movie together, y'know?" He fumbles with his glass of wine, trying to hide his nervousness. "Sorry if I made ya feel uncomfortable, that wasn't my intention." Despite his embarrassment, there was a hint of excitement in his voice. "You decide, though. Want some distance? I'll move over." He offers, ready to adjust accordingly.
"Nah I'm just fucking with you, Handsome" You laugh nonchalantly and shuffle up to him.
Relief washes over Spider's face as he adjusts his position to make room for you. "Alright, love. No need to scare a fella like that," he chuckles, trying to regain his composure. He nestles further into the cushion, allowing you ample space beside him. "Glad we're clear on that front. Never wanna ruin a good time with awkward nonsense." He settles in for the movie, though his thoughts drift elsewhere. Your proximity only fuels his desires, making it difficult to focus on the screen.
the movie ends and the bottle of wine has been drained. "can I put on another film? all good if not!" you ask
"Yeah, go ahead, love," Spider agrees enthusiastically. "Your choice, after all." He relinquishes control of the remote, handing it to you with a nod. "Even if it's a docu about kangaroos, I'll sit through it." He jokes, trying to lighten the mood. As you switch to your preferred selection, he leans in closer, his arm brushing yours gently. "Fancy another drink while we wait for this to start?" He inquires, reaching for the empty wine bottle.
you start scrolling for the film "Sure, there's vodka cruisers if you want something stronger. grab anything!"
"Vodka cruiser, eh?" Spider raises an eyebrow, intrigued by the suggestion. "Never had one of those before. Gimme a sec." He ambles towards the fridge, returning with two cold bottles. Handing you one, he pops the cap off his own. "To a great night, Y/n," he says, clinking it against yours. Taking a swig, he winces slightly at the potency. "Fuck, that packs a punch!" He chuckles, wiping his mouth. "So, whatcha got in store for us?" He inquires, leaning back on the couch expectantly.
"fight club! the one with Brad Pitt! god he's so fine" you say excitedly
Spider's brows furrow as he watches the opening credits, a hint of jealousy creeping into his expression. "Brad Pitt, huh? Bit of a looker, that fella," he mutters under his breath. He takes another sip of his cruiser, attempting to ignore the pang in his chest. "Still, there's only one Spider White, love. Can't replace the original." He tries to laugh it off, but the unease lingered. He settles into the couch, attempting to enjoy the movie despite himself. "Guess I'll just have to outperform him then, hey?" He jests, trying to diffuse his feelings.
"well you're not doing too badly Handsome" you confirm, smiling
His gaze flickers to you, meeting your eyes momentarily. A faint smile tugs at the corners of his mouth. "Thanks, Y/n. Means a lot comin' from you. But don't worry, I ain't here to compete with Hollywood heartthrobs. Just here for a good time." He resumes watching the film, but his mind keeps wandering back to your compliment. A warmth spreads through him, both flattered and uncertain how to handle such praise.
"well how about an Aussie heartthrob like you chooses the next film?" you whisper into his ear flirtily, admittedly a little tipsy.
Startled by your whisper, Spider's heart races. He turns to face you, a mixture of surprise and desire clouding his eyes. "An Aussie heartthrob, huh?" He whispers back seductively, leaning closer. "Well, how 'bout this? I pick the next film, and you gotta do a shot every time someone speaks in an accent other than ours." He grins mischievously, challenging you. "Sound fair, love?" He waits for your agreement before standing up, searching for alternative movies.
"That seems unfair. I'm so in" you whisper, impossibly close to his ear
Smiling triumphantly, Spider nods. "Alright then. Deal's struck." He reaches for the remote, clicking through options. "Let's see...how 'bout The Great Gatsby? Plenty of accents in that one." He selects the movie, turning to face you. "Ready to lose your inhibitions, Love?" He teases, holding out a shot glass filled with vodka. "On your mark..."
"get set..." you continue, staring right into his brown eyes.
As your gazes locked, Spider's pulse quickened. His fingers tremble slightly as he lifts the glass to his lips, downing the shot in one gulp. "Go," he murmurs hoarsely, setting the glass aside. With newfound boldness, he slides an arm around your waist, pulling you closer. "Don't forget - every non-Aussie accent equals a shot." He whispers seductively, his tone laden with promise. The heat between you grew palpable.
"and don't forget every non- British accent is a shot too Handsome" you flirt.
Spider chuckles softly, appreciating your challenge. "Alright, love. Every non-Aussie or non-British accent, then." He confirms, adjusting his grip on your waist. "Best keep count, though. Could get messy." The movie starts, and you both down your second shot promptly. DiCaprio's rich American drawl earned a third drink. By the end of the first twenty minutes, you'd already consumed four shots. Spider couldn't help but grin deviously. "Looks like this is gonna be a wild ride."
"you don't say" You bite your lip, drunkenly.
Spider's gaze falls to your lips, his heart pounding. "Mmm, looks like it," he agrees, his voice low and husky. The alcohol heightened his senses, making it impossible to ignore the electric atmosphere. He tilts his head, brushing your hair away from your face tenderly. "Better start hydratin', love," he suggests, offering you water. "Can't have you passin' out on ol' Spence now." His hands shake slightly as he hands you the glass.
"Nah, after the film handsome, I'm British, not a lightweight"
Spider swallows hard, his throat dry from anticipation. "Alright, alright. Fair enough, Y/n." He relaxes slightly, sipping his own drink. "Just remember what we agreed upon." The film unfolds, each foreign accent leading to another round of shots. As the tension mounted, Spider's nerves intensifying. He couldn't shake the desire simmering between you. Yet, he knew better than to push boundaries too far. For now, he'd bide his time and enjoy the ride.
After the film, and over fifteen shots later, Spider was helping gather empty shot glasses and returning bottles to the fridge, his movements careful and considerate. "Well, that was quite the experience," he muses, wiping down the coffee table. "Think I might need a break from all these accents." He gives a soft chuckle, cleaning up remnants of the evening. As he passes you a trash bag, your fingers brushed briefly. "Thanks for havin' me over, Y/n. Had a blast, even if I lost track of those damn shots." He tries to maintain his cockiness, but the warmth in his chest betrays him. "Look forward to our next adventure."
she drops the trash bag and pulls him closer by his wrist. "spence.." she whispers, dunkenly
Spider freezes at your touch, the intimacy overwhelming him. His breath hitches as he looks into your eyes, his resolve wavering. Though he knew better than to cross lines, the temptation proved too much. "Yeah, Love?" He rasps, his heart pounding like a jackhammer. His body leans involuntarily towards yours, curiosity tugging at him. The air crackled with unspoken desire, leaving him suspended in uncertainty.
"you should kiss me" her voice bearly audioble.
For a brief moment, Spider simply stares at you, dumbfounded. Then, his resolve crumbles. Leaning closer, he cupped your face gently. "Fuck it," he breathes, sealing your lips with his. The kiss was passionate yet cautious, laden with untamed emotion. He tasted the vodka on your tongue, feeling your slight resistance melt away under his touch. This unexpected turn left him both exhilarated and terrified, unsure where it would lead. All he knew was that he wanted more.
Spider motions for you to jump and he grabs onto the back of your thighs, carrying you like you weigh nothing. placing you onto the kitchen counter, standing between your spread legs, out of breath
Spider's heart pounds in his ears as he stands between your legs, panting lightly. His eyes lock onto yours, searching for permission. "You sure, Y/n?" He asks quietly, his voice shaking. This sudden shift left him both thrilled and apprehensive. He aches to explore further, yet respect your boundaries. Sweat glistens on his forehead, a testament to his nervous energy. "If you change your mind, let me know." He whispers, uncertainty marring his bravado.
 "shut up Spider, just kiss me" you say, the cold of the kitchen counter pricking your thighs.
Emboldened by your words, Spider silences his doubts with a deep, lingering kiss. Despite his anxiety, he allows himself to indulge in the moment. Gently, he explores your body with his hands, tracing delicate contours beneath your shirt. When you broke the kiss, he hesitates but listens attentively. "Your call, love. Whatever feels right for you," he promises, swallowing hard. He kneels between your legs, his hands trembling slightly as he undoes your jeans. His anxiety giving way to determination, focusing on pleasing you instead of himself.
"oh Handsome" you moan as he takes off your jeans.
Hearing your moan sent shivers down Spider's spine. He pauses for a moment, taking in the sight before him. "Jesus, you're gorgeous," he whispers hoarsely, his gaze fixed on you. Gently, he trails kisses along your inner thigh, igniting a fire within him. Every inch revealed stoked his desire, yet he remains focused on satisfying you. As his tongue darts out, he tastes your sweetness, savoring each sensation. Your moans fueling his efforts, driving him to perform better.
"Spencer, that feels so good" you're spread out on the counter and your hands are tangled in his hair.
Spider's breath catches in his throat at your praise. Encouraged, he delves deeper, eager to make you feel good. His heart hammers against his ribs, adrenaline coursing through him. Each pull of your hips and gasp of pleasure drives him further. Despite his own anxieties, he finds release in pleasuring you. Your hands tightening in his hair only emboldened him, the connection overwhelming yet gratifying. With renewed vigor, he continues his exploration, losing himself in the rhythm.
You gasp violently, moaning and tugging at his hair "I'm so close handsome. oh my god spencer"
"Comin' for me, love?" Spider questions urgently, his voice thick with lust. He picks up pace, matching your intensity. Your cries fueling him, pushing past his own discomfort. Sensing your climax, he surrendered to the moment, giving you everything he had. With a final thrust of his tongue, he feels you convulse beneath him. Relief washes over him, satisfaction filling the void of self-consciousness. Breathless, he rests his forehead against your thigh, heart pounding wildly.
"holy shit" you breathe out, smiling. you pull spider up by his hair and bring your lips to his, tasting yourself on him.
Taken aback, Spider feels a flush rise to his cheeks. He hesitates for a mere second before returning the kiss, a mix of surprise and excitement courses through him. Tasting yourself on him adds a layer of intimacy that he can't deny is hot. Your actions stirring something primal within him, pushing past his inhibitions. As the kiss deepens, his hands roam freely, exploring every curve. In that moment, he forgets about his insecurities, embracing the passion fully.
Spider gasps at your sudden move, his world spinning. Your scent enveloping him as you kiss him, raw passion evident in your touch. In that moment, all doubts dissipated. He returns the kiss fervently, surrendering to the newfound intimacy. As you pull away, he grins, slightly embarrassed yet pleased. "Didn't think I'd be takin' you to the kitchen counter, love," he joked weakly. "But guess some things are worth breakin' rules for." He laughs nervously, trying to regain composure.
you reach for his belt buckle trying to undo it "let me return the favour" you slur
Realizing your intentions, Spider freezes mid-grin. "Whoa, whoa, hold up there, tiger." He pants, stopping your hand. "i just like making you feel good." he says. "Wanna keep things fair, right?" He attempts humor, wanting to avoid awkwardness. shifting uncomfortably he says "But thanks for offerin', Y/n."
"you sure handsome?" you bite your lip and shift back and forth on the counter.
Spider studies your expression, seeing disappointment clouding your features. "Swear on me mum's grave, love," he assures you sincerely. "Just gotta work through somethings first." He tries to smile reassuringly, reaching for your hand. "This was incredible, though. Not many can say they had a kitchen counter rendezvous." He squeezes your hand gently, hoping to lift your spirits. "Next time, okay?" He offers tentatively, yearning for another chance.
"okay, spider ill see you at school " you say, showing him to the door and with that, he leaves and begins to drive home.
 Spider watches you close the front door behind you, a mix of emotions churning inside him. The night was unlike anything he'd experienced, leaving him both elated and humbled. As he drives home, thoughts swirl in his mind. He can't shake the image of you, nor the taste of your skin. He feels grateful for the encounter yet frustrated by his limitations. One thing was clear: despite the hurdles, he wanted more with you. As he parks outside his house, he takes a deep breath. "Dammit, Y/n," he murmurs to himself, heading indoors. "Next time, it'll be different."

Shadows and Surprises (2)
Part 2 of Azriel x Reader fanfic! Thank you for all the support on the first part, this is my first time writing a fanfiction and I've had this idea in my head for so long - so your kind words have really made me smile!
Summary: Azriel meets y/n at Rita's and spends a single night of passion with you before heading your separate ways. Only, the Mother had different ideas.
Warnings: discussions related to pregnancy, family loss.
Tag list - @mirandasidefics @lilah-asteria @nyxbranwenn @nickishadow139
Azriel POV
"y/n?" Azriel stuttered, eyes not moving from her abdomen. From his peripheral, he saw Madja gently pat y/n on the shoulder and depart back behind the beaded curtains, leaving the pair of you alone. Y/n could barely meet his eyes, but let out a soft "hello", sounding almost winded.
Azriel kept on staring, almost held in a trance by the small swell he saw. He knew - be it by your reaction, your scent, his own instincts - he knew the child growing in there was his. But he had to know for sure.
"Is it mine, y/n?". Her slow nod pulled him away from her abdomen for a moment to meet her eyes, which were still full of fear, panic, and now tears. Azriel was feared by many, he was a Shadowsinger, the Shadowsinger of the Night Court, he was used to seeing fear when eyes met his. But seeing the fear fill your eyes, the mother of his child, was too much to bear. His usually stoic face fell.
"Why didn't you tell me, y/n?" he asked, gently this time, not wanting to cause you undue distress, despite the knot he felt growing in the pit of his own stomach.
"You hardly left a forwarding address, Az", y/n chuckled out lightly, "I tried, but I had no way to reach you. Plus, I didn't think I'd see you again, or that you'd want to be involved if you knew - I thought it was for the best that I couldn't find you".
Azriel's face fell further. Is that the impression that he had left on her that night? That he wouldn't want to be involved if something like this had happened? Or is that just the reputation he has garnered from his years of work at the Night Court?
He panicked, and the knot grew bigger, twisting, taking his breath away, pulling him deeper and deeper into a state of alarm that Azriel couldn't claw his way out from. Y/n saw the swirling fear in Azriel's eyes and her own softened.
"I'll give you some time, Az. Think about it. There is no obligation for you to have any involvement in this. You can pretend this encounter didn't happen and move on, if that's what you'd prefer. I won't hold it against you" she promised, before sliding past Azriel's frozen frame and rushing out the door into the streets of Velaris.
Y/N's POV
Y/n walked through her front door, chucked her bag on the nearby sofa, and thumped her fist into her forehead.
"Stupid, stupid, stupid" she muttered.
She had no regrets about the baby, the sweet little life growing inside her. When she realised she was pregnant with Azriel's baby, she panicked about carrying and birthing a child with wings, but Madja's thorough assessments each week have put her mind to rest. Being half-Illyrian, half-Fae meant she had every risk of having high-Fae anatomy, but the Cauldron seemed to have blessed her with Illyrian hips, so conceiving her child did not mean a sure death sentence. It didn't make it easier, though, to bear the brunt of early pregnancy alone.
Y/n was the proud owner of a bookstore in Velaris, located not far from the Sidra. It was her pride and joy. Having lost her mother at a young age and being raised alongside her brothers in the Illyrian camps meant that y/n was hardened to life's difficulties. Her father certainly made sure of that. So the idea of being a single mother whilst running her bookstore seemed like a walk in the park compared to her past. But, without staff to help, y/n found herself utterly and completely exhausted each day. Her morning sickness had finally let up, but in its place she found her energy drained within the first hour she spent on her feet locating books, tiding the store, and serving customers. She knew it was only going to get harder from here.
She wanted Azriel to be part of her baby's life, of course she did! She wanted her child to grow up knowing their father, having a father who loved them and cared for them, something she could only have wished for as a child herself. But she didn't want Azriel involved out of obligation. She didn't want him to begrudge her or resent her child. His panic-ridden face filled her mind once again as she flopped backwards onto her bed with more force than necessary.
"Stupid" she muttered.
Azriel's POV
Azriel flew at a speed faster than he knew existed. Faster than battle, than when his life depended on it. Because now, another tiny little life just might.
He crash-landed onto the balcony of the House of Window and burst through the doors to the dining room.
"Hey Az! What - where's my chocolate marble slice?" Cassian asked, head tilted slightly as a confused expression settled on his face. He took in Azriel's disheveled hair, wild eyes, and stood from his chair with such force that it flew backwards onto the carpet.
"Hey, hey, it's ok Az, what's happened?" Cassian questioned, stepping closer to Azriel who, in turn, took a bigger step backwards. Cassian paused, desperately calling for Rhys through his mind to come and help. Rhys heard, and winnowed into the dining room mere seconds later.
"Azriel?" Rhys called, concerning lacing his face at his stared at his brother's vacant eyes. He waited, seconds turning to minutes, but Azriel just continued his vacant stare across the room, his skin several shades paler than normal. Rhys made it a point to not go into his family's mind without their permission, to not invade their privacy in that way, but Azriel's behaviour was worrying him more than Azriel's anger at the invasion would. He looked in.
"By the Cauldron, Az" he gasped, a hand flying to his mouth. He shared the memory he saw with an equally concerned and confused Cassian, who shook his head a few times in disbelief.
"It's really yours?" Cassian asked, and watched as Azriel finally responded, his head bobbing slowly.
"Azriel", Rhys said, his tone so commanding it snapped Azriel out of his trance and drew his eyes to meet the violet ones of his High Lord. "What are you going to do?".
Azriel drew his eyes from Rhysand to Cassian, then back to Rhysand, before dropping his gaze to the floor and retreating to his room, his shadows swarming so violently around his shoulders that his face was almost entirely hidden. Had they not been, his brothers would have seen the tears falling silently down Azriel's stricken face.
Y/N's POV
Y/n had spent the best part of the afternoon in bed, Madja's tonic working wonders for the discomfort she had been feeling the last few weeks. She had never experienced indigestion, never even heard of it, but she was now quite convinced it was a curse from the Mother because she had never felt pain like it before. After trying to leaf through the latest instalment of her favourite romance series, and reading the same page at least forty times, she decided to settle down for a nap in an attempt to distract herself from the incident at the Apothecary that morning.
That was, until a knock sounded at the door.

♩ Come Be Lonely With Me ♩
Summary: You're known as the 'loner' kid in high school. Wilbur's the popular boy. When he sticks up for you when his friends mess with you, he gets kicked out of his friend group. So, you two decide to be lonely together.
author's note: hey guys! i know nobody requested this, but I was bored :) this was based off of the song This Side of Paradise by Coyote Theory!
pairing: school!bur x afab!reader
pronouns used for reader: She/her/hers
word count: 796
proofread?: nope :)
tags: @vibestillaxxx @joviepog (lemme know if you want to be tagged in the next one!)
warnings/cw: reader skips a meal, someone making a self-harm joke, mention of h*ntai (doesn't describe it, someone just assumes what someone's artwork is), swearing, mention of Wilbur shoving someone,
genre: fluff & a teensy tiny bit of angst
You sat down at your usual lunch table near the school's tennis courts & looked at your meal; the usual stale grilled cheese with a (most likely moldy) apple. You sighed & threw both items in the trash. You weren't hungry anyway.
You heard a loud crash sound from the table behind you. You turned around to be greeted with the sight of the popular kids getting involved in a food fight. They all looked identical; the girls were bake blondies & had their boobs practically spilling out of their tank tops, & the guys needed to pull up their pants. The only one who stood out to you was a boy named Wilbur. It was always odd how he ended up in the popular crowd since he seemed so...different from the rest. Unlike the other popular boys, he had a nice sense of style & didn't have a hideous haircut. Not to mention that he actually had potential, unlike his brain-dead friends.
You were too busy spacing out to react to one of the boys throwing an apple at your head. This earned a hearty laugh from everyone except for Wilbur.
"What's your problem?" you muttered.
"Yo! Lemme scan your barcodes!" one of the boys shouted to you.
Wilbur looked over at you with eyes filled with pity. You gave him a scowl in return.
"I bet she gets jealous of her phone when it dies," one of the girls laughed.
You rolled your eyes & put your earbuds in. You pulled out your sketchbook & you drew Wilbur, not knowing what else to draw. You liked his hair & wanted to try & make it look good on paper.
RJ, one of the popular guys, grabbed your earbuds & said to his mates, "Oi! I bet she's listenin' to MCR or some shit!"
"What the fuck is your problem?" you snapped, reaching out to grab your earbuds. He chucks them into the trash can before you can grab them.
"What the hell is wrong with you?!" you shouted, which caused the group to laugh.
"I bet she's drawin' h*ntai, too!" RJ mocked, grabbing your sketchbook. "What's this? It looks like shit."
"It's nobody, now give it ba-" you started.
"I think it's Wilbur!" a girl laughed.
Wilbur's cheeks lit up like a red stoplight. Your cheeks followed suit.
"Aww, have you got a crush on 'im?" RJ teased. He chucked your sketchbook into the trash can.
"What the-my GSCE work was in there!" you yelled, blinking back tears.
"Oh yeah? You gonna cry?" he teased.
& then Wilbur did something very surprising. He shoved RJ to the ground.
"Can you leave her the fuck alone & not be a prick for about five seconds?" he snapped. You expected at least one person to agree. Instead, Wilbur was met with boos from his friends.
"We're just joking, Wilbs!" a girl shouted. "Don't be such an ass!"
"I'm not an ass, she just doesn't deserve harsh treatment," Wilbur said. You didn't stick around for the rest of the conversation. You walked over to the trashcan, fished your earbuds & sketchbook out of the trashcan & quickly walked over to the lockers.
You leaned against the wall next to your locker & slid to the floor. You sighed angrily & groaned with exhaustion. The bullying was a normal thing, but it wasn't ever like this. What was different? You weren't aware of any new rumors about you that had spread, so it couldn't have been that.
"Y/n?" You suddenly heard Wilbur's voice & he was standing in front of you.
"Yeah?" you asked, raising a brow.
He sat down in front of you. "You seem sad."
"I'm just pissed."
"Is there really a difference?"
"Yeah. When I'm pissed, I want to break a wall. When I'm sad, I want to break myself."
He nodded. "That makes sense."
"Does it?" you asked.
"Yeah. You're very good at explaining, from what I can tell. You're also very good at art. & you have cool hair."
He motioned toward your hair, which was dyed h/c. You smiled for the first time in weeks. He chuckled in response.
"Y/n, can I ask you a question?"
You raised your brow. "Sure."
"Are you lonely?"
You blinked in surprise at the blunt question. "I suppose so."
He stood up & held out his hand with a smile. "Come be lonely with me."
You laughed & he helped you stand up. You two walked out to a field for the rest of lunch, & when the bell rang, you two decided to hop over the fence to skip class for the rest of the day to hang out at the milkshake shop nearby.
It was nice to be lonely with him.

Fluid Hearts | Chapter 1
My Ego Awakens
Warnings: Swearing, Angst, smut (eventually) , harem x afabOC.

Tumblr media
“Anri, come look at this”, Anri wasn’t expecting Ego of all people wanting to show her something out of his own volition.
“What is it- who’s this?”, Ego had already started playing footage from which he collected earlier. “A diamond in the rough.”
Anri watches as the video displays a black and blue haired soccer player, their physical build didn’t look too much out of the ordinary, noting their pierced ears and a nasty looking scar that cut directly into their brow.
“Why are you-” Anri stops her self as she watches the mystery player being to display exceptional abilities on the soccer field, the woman specifically observing how they moved their body and utilised it to their advantage. Each of their movements were fluid, graceful, but strong and controlled. “Incredible. Those plays, their form! Wow!”
“Potential that is wasted within that mediocre team.” Ego gruffly states, his hands in front of him as he tosses Anri the players file.
“Hisaya Sora, only 17 and already so talented-“
“Hisaya Kazumas youngest daughter.”
Anri knew that name, having to brush up on many different star athletes for this job. “Kazumas child? No wonder they’re so- wait… daughter?”
“It took you that long to figure it out?”
“What- I didn’t even think-“
“That’s because you have the brain of a simpleton Anri.”
“Ugh you’re impossible. Where did you even get this footage anyway.”
Ego barely acknowledges Anri, still going over Soras impressive performance in the video, especially when she seemlessly steals the ball off a mid fielder , her form sliding to the ground in one movement and she gets herself back up in the next moment. “Her coach Tak- whatever his name is , records each of her games , apparently she watches each video to asses her skills.”
“And he just gave it to you?”
“With some incentive.”
“Jeez…”, She sweat drops, the less she knew the better. “but this kid is certainly something-“
“I want a Bluelock invitation sent to her, today.”
“What?”, she gasps, pausing the video to look at the unphased Ego. “I agree this girl is talented but with all due respect , the program is for us to create the next male striker. She can’t participate, it would be a breach of the rules.”
“This is why our country has never excelled within the bracket, we follow the rules, procedures. How can we expect to dominate the other teams if we just stick to what we know? Where’s the risk that brings the highest of all rewards.”
“But sir, the board surely will not approve-“
“I believe an exception can be made.”
~
“Hey sis I’m home!”
Sora kicked open open the door with an exhausted sigh, trudging through her shared apartment. She lazily chucked her sports bag across from her with thunk.
“Yiri!!! Where are-”
Hisaya Yiri, Soras older sister and current guardian. Yiri made her living writing short stories for a nearby library so most of her time is spent fussing over her stories in her work tablet.
Yiri stumbles out the kitchen with a huff, her long black hair tied loosely in a low pony, “You know using the door knob instead of kicking the door open is just as effect- and for the last time don’t just leave your bag there!”
“What’s wrong with there?”
Yiri scowls, adjusting her glasses before crossing her arms. “Does this look like your bedroom?”
“No I’m not blind sis, it’s the living room.”, she brushes her off, flopping onto one of the couches. “Exactly, therefore your bag should maybe go , oh I don’t know, in your room?”
“Yeah probably.” Sora moves her hand around , looking for the remote of their tv but finding something else instead. “Hey isn’t this your tablet? That’s not in ,you know, your room?”
Sora smirked as she held up her sisters work device that she just saved from the dark casims that existed between her couch. Yiri mumbled something under her breath, hiding her embarrassment. “You- ugh, you get this one and only this one okay.”
“Yeah I know.” Sora hands over Yiris prized tablet before she popped a blood vessel, trying not to enjoy her sisters frustration too much.
“I hate you.”
“Yeah yeah”, Sora laughs and wraps her arm around her sister, giving her a brief side hug before resuming her position on the couch.
Yiri softly smiled at her, no matter how much Sora aggravated her to no end, she loved her. “Oh ! A letter came for you in the mail, I left it up in your room. Now go wash up before dinner, you fucking reek.”
“Oh thanks. It’s not like I didn’t just come from a game.” Sora pretends she doesn’t she the way Yiris face contorts at the mention of soccer, choosing to roll her eyes as she starts rushing up the stairs.
“Sora.”
“What?”
Yiri groans, pointing to the discarded bag. “Forgetting something?”
~
Sora had been staring at the letter for 20 minuets, having to re read each sentence over and over again to make sure she hadn’t gone mad.
The Japanese Football Union.
‘You’ve been selected to become a certified athlete.’
She couldn’t believe it, that she had been sought out for her skills. Her hands flick through not one but two letters.
Dear Hisaya Sora.
As you can no doubt see you have been selected to take place in a very special program that I am heading myself.
This program will finally create a team worthy of entering and destroying the competition at the World Cup.
I sent you this invitation despite the fact you are one of the opposite sex, your potential is wasted in that team you play in and if you’re not completely idiotic you can too.
I’m taking a chance on you brat, don’t squander it.
Ego Jinpachi.
‘This would make everything worth it, everything dad drilled into me, every day in moms studio. It wouldn’t be for nothing.’
Fire lit within Soras heart, excitement and nervousness ignited with her body. Whoever Jinpachi was she promised that she would not squander this chance.
She just had to somehow break it to her sister…
~
Yiri didn’t come to see her off that morning, Soras older sister had a pension for the dramatics. Last nights argument made that clear.
‘I see him every time you play Sora! I just can’t support this! I won’t!’
‘You hate our father more than your care about your own sister!’
But she wouldn’t allow her sister to get in the way of this dream, in that fact maybe she was more like her father than she thought.
~
Sora wasn’t one for formal wear but it sure beat wearing a dumbass skirt. she did somewhat stick to her uniform by wearing the dress shirt and pants but forgoes the blazer to dawn her favourite black zip up hoodie.
She choose to keep her hood up , force of habit, tucking her hands into her jacket pocket as she rounded the corner of a building. She catches a look at two figures talking by the Japanese Football union sign.
‘That’s the one.’
Sora observes the two boys in particular, chatting with some familiarity but she deduced there wasn’t much of a sense of comraderie between the two. Aqqaintances at best.
“If we were on the same team you’d hit some amazing passes to me I’m sure.”
“O-Oh! Thank you.” The boy blushes at the compliment from the bright eyed boy. ‘His words are so condescending, like he can’t do more than pass to him…’ Sora frowned at the blonde kid, throwing her hood back as she walked toward them.
“Guessing you two got the letter right?”
The boys perk up at her voice, darting surprised looks at Sora as she leant against the wall beside the door of the building. “Uh hi!”
“Hey there, you too huh?”, Sora nods at the blonde, waiting for the other boy to calm down from his shock so could form a sentence. “Y-Yeah kinda crazy right?”, the black haired boy responds, nervously scratching the back of his head.
“Tell me about it. You mind me third wheeling with you guys?”
“Hey the more the merrier right? Im Kira Ryosuke. That’s Yoichi Isagi.”
“Hey.” He says with a little wave.
‘Hm cute.’ Sora looks at Isagi with a newfound interest as her fingers fiddle her piercings.
“Hisaya Sora but just call me Sora.”
Isagi takes in Soras appreance, short dark and rich black hair, the ends faded into a bright fluorescent blue, matching their clear crystal eyes. Her ears were decorated with black lined studs and rings, he wondered if Sora actually kept them in while they played soccer.
He noticed a particularly mean looking scar that was carved into their eyebrow, ending just atop Soras eye.
She could feel Isagi looking at her most prominent scar, she could always tell when someone was, she swallows an uncomfortable breath , looking away whilst clearing her throat .
‘Hisaya Sora, where have I heard that name before? Hisaya…… Hisaya….’ Isagi contemplates before it suddenly dawns on him, his mind replaying the days when he was a kid, watching the great legends of his favourite sport. ‘Hisaya Kazuma! Japans star player of the 90’s but that would mean this guy is his son.’
“Wait, that would make you related to Hisaya Kazuma! ”, Kira couldn’t contain his excitement, to think someone of Sora Hisayas class would be in a program with him, he thought it was an honour. “No way, You’re his son!”
Hisaya only nods in acknowledgment, her face stoic at this continued talk of her now deceased father. Isagis eyes seem to pick up on that, even though he’d love to grill the child of the great Kazuma Hisaya, one of his favourite athletes, he chose not to.
Sora appreciated Isagis tact, something Kira seemed to lack.
“He was incredible, no one could top him on the field but you already know that! You must be a prodigal son”
‘Hisayas son’
Thats what he was right? for some reason that didn’t feel right to Isagi. But what else could he be?
“Good thing my sister didn’t hear you say that. Now let’s go already, no one’s becoming a certified athlete by standing out here, freezing our asses off.”
“Shall we?” Kira extends his arm in an attempt to be curtious , Sora had to contain her eye roll .
‘Maybe I’m looking too far into it’, Isagi puts away his thoughts for now, following Kira and Hisaya toward the building. “Yes, please.”
“Oh c’mon, we don’t have to be all weird and formal with each other. I’m glad we met.”
Isagis cheeks lightly flush. “Me too.. and you as well Hisaya!”
“It’s Sora dimwit”, she flicks his forehead playfully with a giggle, Isagi gasps and rubbing his head with a shy grin. “R-Right!”
~
“They really grabbed anyone with a pulse for this.” The room was packed with people and they possibly had the weirdest haircuts Sora had ever seen, and here she thought she may have stood out.
“Yeah, I see some I recognise too.” Kira points out the few he knew, though Sora found herself not paying much mind to him. Kira’s presence was slowly starting to irk the girl, his impression outside was less than stellar.
‘Couldn’t hurt the scout out the competition I guess’ She recognised a few players, some she’d seen at school when they would visit for games, others she’d only seen online watching other tournaments but she couldn’t put names to the faces. They were a pain to remember.
‘Heh I sound like-’ She spots both a white head of hair and a purple one off in the distance. ‘Ha! Speak of the devil’ Sora wouldn’t mistake Seishiro Nagi and Mikage Reo for anyone else.
After all , she and Reo were childhood friends, curtesy of their mothers. She met Nagi in highschool and the three of them were inseparable. You’d never see one without the other two far behind.
After Soras father died, Yiri made the executive decision to move away so that meant transferring schools. Sora begged her sister to stay but her sister refused to budge, and there wasn’t much she could do against her legal guardian as a minor.
That didn’t stop her from keeping in contact with the two of them.
‘I should’ve figured those two would get an invite’, She thought with a quick laugh, ready to walk over to the duo before a voice cuts in.
“And test, test. Congratulations and welcome diamonds in the rough.” A spotlight shines on the stage ahead, revealing a man with black rimed glasses and a bowl cut to match. “You are the under 18 strikers who have been chosen by my arbitrary advice and decision making. And I am Jinpachi Ego, I am the man who was hired to ensure Japan’s victory at the World Cup.”
‘So this is Ego.’ His mannerisms in the letter fit him perfectly.
“Who is he? Do you guys know him?”, Isagi shakes his head. “No clue. What about you Sora?”
“Only know the name.” It wasn’t a lie but she figured telling the two that she had been specifically scouted by Jinpachi wouldn’t do her any favours.
“Japan needs one thing and that’s the birth of a revolutionary striker. I’ll be running a few experiments to figure out which one of you 300 is capable of becoming the single best striker of the world.”
“Here at this facility, Bluelock”, the screen behind Ego changes, warping into the insides of the facility Jinpachi had just mentioned. “Starting today, you will all live there together and undergo the specialised training that I have devised. You won’t be allowed to go home and your previous soccer careers will be but a mere memory.”
“But I promise you this, if you fight hard enough, if you become the last man standing out of the 300 candidates then you be the best striker in the world.”
Sora crossed her arms in silence, noting the varied groups of nervous men in the room while she was completely calm, was enough for her to smirk ever so slightly.
“Hey, uh, excuse me? Sorry but I can’t agree to these conditions.”, Soras brows perk up at Kira, Ego himself was glaring down at the young boy. “All of us have teams that we’ve given our loyalty too and some of us have nationals coming up and you want me to abandon my team for what huh?”
Echos of other likeminded idiots sound out from the room, aggreeing with Mr bright eyes. Sora scoffed, leaning her arm on Isagis shoulder, lowering her voice so only he could hear. “Hey Isagi, is your friend always such a Boy Scout?”
“What? I-I guess?”, the heat of her breath on his his ear nearly made him topple over, the blush returning to his cheeks. “To be honest I don’t actually know him that well.”
“Figures.” She hummed in his ear, founding his shoulder rather comfy.
“Lock off! If anyone wants to leave them go! Are your perspectives really that limited? You’d rather return to high schools backwater competitions than be the worlds best striker?!”
“The future of Japan is in your hands? It’s enough to make a man weep”, Sora could’ve sworn she saw the man twitch before redirecting himself to the centre of the stage. “But let me ask you this. What is soccer? Is it about 11 players working together? The bonds that you forge? Sacrifice? Fighting for your team mates? That kind of thinking is why this countries game as remained weak!”
“Soccer is about scoring more goals than your opponent does”. Soras heart thumps louder, “Whoever scores the most is the best, end of story. If you just want a fun game with your pals then lock off.”
“This guy is crazy”, Isagi muttered into Soras ear, who contained a giggle, his breath tickling her skin. “But he’s passionate at least, unlike some of the others”, Sora detached herself from Isagi to point at Kira as he continued to make a fool out of himself.
“Those players are my heros!! Now take it back!”
This sent Ego down a spiral, the screen flashing between 3 of the greatest players throughout the world. “And of course Kazuma Hisaya said it himself. Forget the others on your team, in the end it’s you who gets them to victory.”
Soras fists clenched at the blown out picture of her father in his glory days, even back then he didn’t care about anything else other than himself.
Isagi said nothing but put his hand on her shoulder. “Real hero my father was huh.” She muttered angrilly, thinking that she was starting to sound like her sister. Isagi beginning to understand why the girl insisted on being called Sora over her last name.
“You can’t be Japan’s greatest striker without first being the biggest egoist.”, Isagis grip on Soras shoulder tightened, feeling something with him stir. Sora felt it too.
‘His words, could they be true? Is that why I havnt progressed any further than just nationals?’ Soras heart thudded in her chest again, harder and louder.
“Now pass through and be transformed, discard comman sense and remember when you’re out on the field you’re a star.”
“Nothing should bring your more joy than your own goals”, Soras breath hitched, remembering each time she has scored a goal, how her body felt like it was on fire. Opposed to when ever she had to give up the ball for a team mate to score, she would be cold, something in her would thrash in her against it, wanting to push onward, to Make…. The …. Shot.
But she wouldn’t, her coach would say it was greedy to go out on her own and not rely on her team mates so she would play along, and pass.
‘Is that what I was doing? Stamping out my own ego for others?‘
“Live only for that glorious moment and if you can’t… then you’re no striker at all!”
Isagi ran head first, eyes blazing with a new fond determination. ‘I am a striker!’
Sora laughs , her tongue glides over her teeth before sprinting off after Isagi, her pronounced canines on show.
The commotion behind her didn’t matter, for she would become one of the greatest strikers in Japan no… the world!
Maybe for the first time in her life, she choose to give in to her ego and she had never felt more free.
~
‘Man this suit is fucking skin tight, and the binder doesn’t help at all.’
Sora hand goes to her now compressed chest under suit, feeling the fabric that bound her breast down to appear flat chested.
She knew she’d have to go through with this when she came here, she only wished the damn thing wasn’t so uncomfortable.
Luckily she wasn’t gifted with the most voluptuous breasts but without the binder, it definitely would’ve been obvious that Sora was in fact a woman.
Her fingers play at the collar of her the top, taking a quick glance at her arm to see the numbers 292 and the letter Z under it plastered on the fabric.
‘Must be our ranks, at least I’m not all the way at the bottom’,
Readjusting her clothes in her arms before she passed a door with the letter Z printed on it in blue, with her hands full she used her leg to kick it open.
‘Can already hear Yiri in my ear for that one’ she thought with a sad sigh, already missing her dotting big sister, even after their argument.
“Hey is that you Sora?”
“Isagi!”, Yoichis face let Sora forget about her home life for a moment as she jogged over, happy to see someone she was familiar with. “Looks like we’re stuck with eachother a bit longer huh?” She raises her hand up and Isagi laughs, smiling gratefully as his hand clasps over hers. “Yeah guess so.”
“Hope you two havnt forgotten about me.”
“Oh hey Kira.” Sora just couldn’t place why Kira irked her so much but she knew that her good mood already started to sour with Mr Boy Scout in the same room. “I’m glad you two are here, I know someone at least.”
Isagi nods. “You read my mind haha ah!-“ a shirt comes flying into Isagis face. “Didn’t see you there”, Sora sees the perpetrator, though the guy is hard to miss with his height, insanely muscular build and with hair as bright as a sunset. “My bad.”
“It was just an accident, I hope-” Isagi goes to give the shirt back, not noticing the sleeping soul on the ground. “Hey Isagi? you might wanna look down.”
“Sora what are you- huh?” He jumps away with start, finally noticing the guy passed out on the floor.
“Hey~ stop hogging the ball and pass it to me”,
‘He’s even dreaming about Soccer’, Sora tilted her head in wonder, going as far as to kneel down and touch the bob cut boys cheek with her finger.
Poke, poke.
Still asleep. ‘Man he’s like Nagi when he’s sleeping. Adorable like him too.’
“Uh Sora? Arent you supposed to have changed in here?” Kira asks the girl who’s still watching the sleepy boy on the ground. “Changed on my way here, figured it would be faster.”
“You changed out in the hall? Where there’s cameras? ”, the orange boy asked this time, staring at Sora as if she had 3 heads. “Is that a problem buff boy?”
“Jeez, you have no shame.”, turning around with his back facing her. “Not really no.” Sora , without taking her eyes off whoever the sleeping boy was, tossed her clothes behind her, hearing the fabric hit the orange boys toned back. He glared at Sora but she was still occupied with the sleeping boy, still poking him to see if she could wake him up.
Begrudgingly he picked up Soras clothes, tossing them in a locker as he clearly wasn’t going to. ‘What a child’ he thought with scoff.
“Hey!! You’re Ryonoske Kira!!!! Wow I can’t believe it.” Kira shyly shakes the bold boy hand who looks at him with stars in his eyes. “Y-Yeah it is.”
“Oh look another boy to join the Kira kiss ass club.” Sora chirps out, not caring that Kira threw her a dejected look her way. The bald boy didn’t seem to take it as insult as he looks at both Isagi and Sora with a goofy smile, waving his hand. “Nice to meet you! I’m Gurimu Igarashi!”
“Yeah, hey.”
“Yo.” Sora gave a little salute with her hand, half listening about how apparently Igarashi is a monk or from a family of them. The only thing Sora found interest in was the numbers on his his shirt sleeve.
300. Rock bottom.
‘I shouldn’t have to worry about him then’
“Are you finished changing? My little diamonds in the rough.” Close to the ceiling was a giant TV, Egos face now plastered on it, looking over everyone in the room. “Think of the players you’re sharing this place your roommates and also your rivals.”
Ego continues to explain the ranking system, Isagi now begins to notice that he is unfortunately ranked at 299.
‘I’m the second worst player here?!’ Isagi dispaurs, more so when sees that even Sora is sitting at a higher rank than he is.
“The top 5 will get to play in a special game six months from now. These athletes will be registered as forwards at the U20 World Cup.”
Gasps go around the room, that opportunity is a dream for each of these players.
‘Where’s the catch?’ Sora brought her hand to chin, suspecting something else at play, nothing like this is ever given out for free.
“Additionally those here who loose at Bluelock, firefight the right to ever represent Japan.”
“That would be the catch.” Sora not bothering to keep that one to herself, listening to Ego prattle on, before a cunning look emerges from his eyes.
“Let’s play a game of tag shall we?”
A ball drops down landing a few feet awat from Isagi. “You have 136 seconds, whoever is struck by the ball is ‘it’ whoever is ‘it’ when time runs out will be locked off.”
‘So don’t be caught it last, noted.’
“Also. No using your hands~”
The screen flashes away as the game begins, the system deeming Igarashi Gurimu as the first one to be it.
“What? This isn’t how you play soccer”, some boy remarks in the room, Sora found herself eye rolling at the level of idiocy.
‘There’s factors of soccer here, but this game isn’t about that. He’s testing our egos.’
“I gotta be it first because I’m ranked the lowest?” The boy monk grumbles, resting his foot on the ball. “Alright let’s do this! No hard feelings anyone!”
More protests, Sora shook her head, stretching out her arms and legs. “Just play the game.” Most of the boys looked at her with shock, partially thinking how insane this girl was.
“If I’m kicked out I’ll be a monk for the rest of my life!” That’s all it took for the boy to start sprinting, dribbling the ball on his feet as the group dispirsts.
Sora separates from Isagi, instead finding herself behind Igarashi, figuring the monk would go after players closer to his own rank. “Sorry Isagi!”
‘Figures’ He shoots the ball but Isagi and the others with him manage to dodge, the ball rebounding off the white wall back to him.
“He’s not going to get anywhere unless he actually starts using his head.” Sora mutters to herself but not expecting the boy beside her her would hear and let alone recognise her.
“Sora? The hell are doing here?”
She turned to see her classmate of all people, Hyoma Chigiri, a flabbergasted look on his face. Now there’s a surprise that’s for sure.
“Hey Chigiri”, she winks, sticking her tongue out cheekily as he continues to look at her , baffled. “But how are you-“
With everyone distracted, Sora sprinted over to him, pressing her finger to his lips. “Talk after kay? Better survive the next minute or so Princess.”
His face flushed slightly but he nods, knowing he’ll get his explanation afterwards.
Sora decides to run back to Isagis side, hearing Kira ramble about how ridiculous the current setup is. “Sora!”
She waves quickly at Isagi before smacking the back of her hand on Kira’s chest. “Quit the preaching and focus. You really wanna find out what happens if you end up loosing?”
Kira didn’t expect Sora to lecture him so harshly but she didn’t give him a moment longer, turning her keen eye on Igarshi fumbling around the room, failing to hit anyone.
“I can’t hit anyone!”, he sees the boy from before still sleeping and it seemed finally he caught a break. “It’s a cheap shot but so what. You’re it!”
Hisaya watched as the bob cut leaps up into a handstand, kicking Igarshi in the face and away from him, blood flying from his nose. “Hey! That’s a foul! If this was a real game you would be red carded-“
“He said only hand balls were against the rules didn’t he?” He rubs his eyes, still somewhat half asleep. “Good morning.”
Isagi watched the encounter too. ‘Man what’s with this guy?’
He turned to Sora to gauge her opinion on him but he saw her smile, his eyes glinting with intrigue. ‘Whatever it is , has caught Soras interest big time.’
“Hey. I’m not a fan of playing dirty alright. I want a clean game.”, the brute from before clasps his hand on bob cuts shoulder, glaring down at him.
“Aye, aye Mr strait laced.”
Sora jogged over in front of ‘mr strait laced’, hands on hips. “Maybe you should be lecturing that one-“
Unbenoyst to the others, Igarshi took advantage of the distraction aiming his shoot at Sora who had turned her back on him. He had this in the bag, he knew it. ‘He so thin, getting him should be a piece of cake!’
The ball flew , seeming like it would hit Sora right on but the room goes out in gasps as they see the girl throw her head back as her body falling into a back bend. The ball barely missed her, instead hitting the boy behind her square in the face.
“Woah…”
“How the fuck did he do that?”
Kira awed beside Isagi, who nodded too, witnessing Soras impressive control of their body had him too in awestruck. ‘I’ve never seen anything like that before! Kazuma was known for his more brute type of playing style so there’s no way Sora learned that from his dad.’
“Left yourself open! Amen”, monk boy pretends that was his plan was to hit ‘ Kunigami’ in the first place, his confidence needed a severe reality check Sora thought.
With only a minuet left, Kunigami Rensuke had been declared ‘it’. “You bastard! I’m going to destroy you!!!!!”
He wastes so time to take his shot, unsurprisingly Igarshi sticks to his dirty tactics and holds Isagi in front of him, blocking his body as Kunigami shot reigns in, slamming into Isagis stomach so hard it sent him backwards to the ground.
“Sorry, wrong person…”
Sora winced, seeing Isagi almost choke on his spit. “You alright Isagi?!”, he pants, looking up at the clock, he only had 59 seconds to hit someone. ‘Things can’t end here, I won’t let them’
He kicks the ball, failing to hit anyone head on as the time continued to tick against him. “C’mon Isagi….”
Bob cut hears Soras quiet encouragements for Isagi, an idea coming to mind. He throws himself on Kunigamis back, giggling as he uses his limbs to hold him in places just as Isagi was chasing after Igarshi.
“Come on! Nows your chance! Wouldn’t want Blueberry’s cheers to wasted would you?”
‘Blueberry?’ Both Isagi and Sora thought simultaneously. ‘Is he supposed to be referring to me?’ She deadpans at Bachira who only grinned.
‘Wait, Sora was cheering for me?’ He looks at him and Sora shyly smiles, blushing slightly.
The moment is broken by Kunigami throwing Bachira off his back, crashing down onto Igarshi. Sora whistles. “Damn he’s strong.”
“Well that hurt hehe”, he said as if he hadn’t gotten hurt at all, still smiling as he found this whole situation amusing.
“Quit laughing and G-get off me!”, Igarshi goes to stand but his leg shakes, his hand going to his leg as he feels pain circling around his ankle. “Sprained it… w-wait. Time out.”
Everyone in the room knew he was done for, Isagi would take the shot and the time would finish with Igarshi as the one it and first one to leave.
“Isagi!!”, Kira yells out from his safe spot. “Hit him now! Take the shot!” Sora scoffed, ‘So much for that idealism. What a phoney.”
25 seconds remained and Isagi had yet to make the shot, Igarshi scrambling to get away from him. “Hey… hold on. Stay back I mean it! I don’t want to go out like this! It isn’t fair!”
Isagi looked at him as if he was prey, ready to be devoured after a long chase, the sweat dripped from his body.
‘If I shoot then this guys soccer career is over. No this is about survival, that’s how blue lock works. Making my dream come true means destroying someone else’s, no other way around it!’
20 seconds and time was in a stand still, Sora too was starting yo get nervous. ‘What is he doing ? Won’t he make the shot?’
“Thats not right… in order to change, I need to be something I’m not. I came here to turn things around. To become the best in the world!”
‘Unless I beat someone stronger than me, that won’t happen!’
She could see it, swirling in his eyes , like a flame burning within him. ‘He won’t settle for mediocrity…Heh, now we’re talking Isagi!’
Sora chuckled, watching Isagi turn away, facing the sleep boy who now pointed at him, matching Soras grin. “I like you. You’re right, you wanna beat someone?”
He steals the ball straight out from Isagi, the screen changing to show the name Meguru Bachira, rank 290. “Then it should be the strongest player.”
“W-What? Me!”
Bachira chuckled darkly, watching Kira try to escape him but he wouldn’t let him. “Hey blueberry! You want in on this too right?”
Sora gasps slightly, no realising she had followed Bachira closely after he stole the ball, but her excitement took over her suprise. She doesn’t say a word, only winks at him, speeding ahead as Bachira dribbled onward, keeping Kira’s attention on him.
Bachira sees Sora reach the wall, shooting the ball at Kira who he knew would dodge. Sora uses the wall as leverage and kicks off it, her body turning just as her mother taught her and her foot reaches the ball, sending it back to Bachira.
He sees the ball fly over him, he manipulates his body down like before, making sure his foot hits the ball back toward Isagi who Kira had foolishly ran towards.
Mere seconds remained but that was enough time for Isagi to kick the ball once more, and it hit its mark, flying into Kira’s face, marking him as the last one to be ‘it’ just as the time runs out.

Quiz Night
Pairing: Steven Grant x FemReader
Tumblr media
Summary: Steven plans on taking you on a date, and when you get there you discover it's Quiz Night. This is technically Part 2 to Suited and Booted, but you can read them separately without each other!
This is in Steven's POV because why the heck not, but it means reader is referred to as she/her.
Warnings/Tags: No warnings, just fluff. Hand-holding, admitting feelings, all that cute stuff. Mentions of Jake and Marc (Jake has horny thoughts, but nothing explicit!!)
Word Count: 2.1K
A/N: credit to Nerdist.Com for the gif from GIPHY. As always if I have portrayed anything incorrectly please call me out on it so I can fix it :) If anyone has requests I would LOVE to hear them!!!
---
Steven is staring at himself in the mirror. He's just got home from work and he knows that, across the hall from him, you've already been home maybe an hour? An hour and a half? At any rate, he knows he doesn't have long until you start making dinner and he needs to stop that.
He's taking you out to dinner tonight, not that you know it. He's booked a table at this cute place he thinks you'll like, and he hopes you'll say yes to going with him.
As he looks at himself in the mirror, he waits for Marc's response.
What's the issue Stevie, you nervous?
"Of course I'm bloody nervous." Steven says, shrugging off his jacket and chucking it on the sofa. He needs to get changed into something nice, something that he could wear for a date. After what you said about him in the suit, he wants to impress you again. "I promised Y/N I'd take her on a date, after everything she did for me."
Steven's reflection stares back at him - the same, but different.
Yeah, she's a nice gal. Pretty too. So stop messing around and take her on this date!
"Okay. Okay. I can do this. Just, no funny business, yeah? I want to do this on my own."
Such a shame, Grant. I'd love to get my hands on her.
The voice in the mirror speaks again, but this time it's accent changes, losing Marc’s familiar intonation.
"Hey!" Steven points at his reflection, suddenly all defensive. His reflection just smirks. "I swear Lockley, stay out of this."
I'm just saying, we could've had her when you were in her shower. Wasted opportunity, hermano.
Steven closes the doors of his mirror. He doesn't want to speak anymore, he needs to get changed.
Jake Lockley was the most recent alter that Steven had encountered, and he was still struggling to like him. Sure, they were technically the same person, but Jake was like an annoying older sibling who did what he wanted, when he wanted. He was the most difficult to keep under control.
In truth Jake was the protector. Sure, Marc was the mercenary and the one who agreed to Konshu’s deal, but Jake was the embodiment of everything Konshu wanted. He was ruthless, he was the vengeance and the anger that the protector of the night was supposed to be. Jake stepped in when Marc’s trauma was simply too much, and he did it well. Steven was more than appreciative for what Jake had done.
It was just the constant sexual remarks about you that Steven couldn’t stand. It meant that sometimes, when Jake decided to influence his thoughts, it was very difficult to focus around you.
Don't worry Stevie, I'll keep us in check.
The voice in his head turns back into Marc’s familiar accent. Steven sighs, grateful to have Marc looking out for him.
"Cheers, mate." Steven speaks aloud as he gets changed. He’s found a black shirt and a jacket in his wardrobe, and decides to keep the same dark trousers and shoes on from his work uniform.
He quickly feeds Gus before whispering: “Wish me luck!”
Gus doesn’t respond. Steven walks out and knocks on your door.
It takes exactly twenty-four seconds for you to answer the door after Steven knocked. He knows because he counted. If it had taken longer than a minute, he would have chickened out and gone back inside. Yet, there you are.
"Hey, Steven." You're smiling at him as soon as you see him. You're still in your work clothes, but Steven still thinks you look lovely. He swallows hard before speaking.
"Please tell me you've not made dinner yet. I'd like to take you on that date I mentioned, if that's alright?"
He smiles at you sweetly, his nerves making his hands involuntarily fiddle with the sleeves of his jacket, pulling them over his hands.
"Oh um, yes! That would be lovely. You didn't have to, you know. I uh, can you just wait here while I change? I won't be long."
Steven nods, smiling at you. You smile back and motion for him to wait, and then your door closes again.
Look at you go, Stevie. She really is gorgeous. I like your style.
Marc speaks in his head and Steven has to stop himself from blushing. You were gorgeous, Steven just hadn’t had the courage to tell you that yet.
It takes ten minutes for you to come back out of your apartment. Steven’s jaw nearly drops to the floor, but you don’t even notice. You’re too busy locking the door.
“Wow, Y/N. You look great!”
“Is it too much?” You say, patting down your hair and touching at your clothes.
“No…no! You look lovely, yeah? Gorgeous, actually.”
There, that wasn’t so hard.
Steven doesn’t notice the way blush creeps into your cheeks, but Marc does. Steven is too nervous and all jumpy inside to notice anything other than putting one foot in front of the other. You fall in line beside him as you wait for the elevator.
“So, where are we going? Or is it a secret?”
“Oh uh…a secret I guess. Yeah, why not? A secret.” Steven smiles at you, he likes the idea of keeping you waiting. He can see the curious gleam in your eyes and the way you’re smiling at him like this is the most exciting thing you’ve ever done. You’re staring at one another, both of you hardly believing that you’re going on a date together.
The ding of the elevator makes the pair of you jump.
“Oh jeez,” Steven chuckles to himself, then motions to you, as he always does when the pair of you leave for work in the morning, “Ladies first.”
You oblige, as you do every morning. You push the button and Steven stands beside you. It’s a routine that’s been instilled in the pair of you, although this time Steven can’t decide whether or not to hold your hand.
Do it, she’ll like it.
Steven catches Marc’s reflection in the elevator mirrors. Then he sees you, and you’re already looking at him. The pair of you blush, although your cheeks turn a shade darker than his.
“I’m really glad you said yes, you know?” He says to you, and you nod.
"Why wouldn't I?"
The elevator doors open on the ground floor and you both make your way to the exit. Like usual, Steven holds the apartment building door open for you, and you step out into the London streets.
It’s dark now, the sky probably full of stars somewhere above all of that pollution. There’s taxis and people hustling and bustling all about the place. To Steven, London always felt like the city that never sleeps, which is why he liked it so much. It reminded him of himself.
“We just gotta turn left, go down a couple of streets. You happy to walk?” Steven turns to you, pointing down the road.
“Yeah, of course.” You would walk anywhere for Steven Grant. You would walk around the entire world if he asked you to. But, he doesn’t know that.
Without thinking, or maybe it’s Marc’s influence, Steven holds his arm out for you to link yours with his. He’s surprised by even his own actions, and worries for a second that you won’t want to touch him, but then you link your arm in his with a grin on your face and Steven practically melts.
He can smell your perfume and feel the heat of your skin against his. And he’s happy, happier than he’s been in a long time.
The pair of you walk, arm in arm, towards the restaurant. You talk about work, and Steven listens. He talks more about Egyptian mythology and - particularly - Apep, who was the embodiment of Chaos in the form of a large serpent.
Steven doesn’t know why he’s telling you about it, he worries that you’re probably bored or think he’s weird, but it’s so nice to talk to someone that isn’t Marc, or his annoying boss Donna, that he just can't help himself.
“You know,” Steven says, “it’s so nice to have a neighbour. You’re the best anybody could ask for. It was lonely, a bit, before.”
Por Dios, save the sob story, Grant. Unless it’s a ploy for some pity sex.
Jake, you had one fucking job. Either stay out or you’re getting locked out.
There was a beat of silence.
Stevie, you’ve got privacy.
The chat between Jake and Marc happens in Steven’s head before you even respond. There’s a slight frown on your face.
“Lonely?” You shake your head and come to a stop. “Sorry, this might be way out of line, so please just tell me to shut up if I'm wrong but I always assumed you live with someone. I can hear you arguing sometimes…”
Your voice trails off and the awkwardness is evident in your tone. You’re not sure what to say, and it takes Steven awhile to find his voice.
“Oh…right. I would never tell you to shut up.” Steven unlinks his arm from yours to face you head on.
He looks at you, all pretty and polite and obviously trying not to seem worried about you, and he sighs. “I’ll explain everything to you after we’ve eaten, yeah? All I’ll say now is, I do live alone. No girlfriend, no friends, not even a roommate. Just me, and my brain. Oh, and my goldfish.”
You nod at him, your frown dissipating and turning into an understanding smile. You'll wait for him to explain, whenever you're ready. You're halfway through asking what his goldfish is called when Steven’s eyes trail from your face to just behind you, where you’ve unknowingly stopped just outside the restaurant. And Steven deadpans.
“Fuck. What the hell?”
You turn to see what he’s looking at, and you see what he’s seeing. The 'QUIZ NIGHT' signs are plastered all over the front door.
He runs a frustrated hand through his hair, “I booked this place because I thought it would be nice and quiet. Somewhere small so we could be alone…but now? There’s going to be a bunch of competitive people all yelling answers and ruining our night.”
“Hey,” you rest a hand on his arm, “This could be fun! I honestly don’t mind.”
Steven feels your touch and notices how gentle your voice is, but he can’t stop from feeling like a massive idiot.
"But I wanted it to be romantic, and I am so bad at quizzes, you know? Unless it’s about Egypt or-"
“You wanted it to be romantic?” You interrupt Steven’s rambling by giving his arm a soft squeeze. He stops talking almost immediately, and he wishes he could swallow his tongue. Why had he said that?
“Uh...yeah? I really like you, Y/N…I’m just not a fan of quizzes.”
You laugh, a really deep belly laugh that takes Steven by surprise. He’s worried he’s said something wrong, or that he's got it all wrong and you only see him as a friend, when you pull him in for a hug.
It only lasts for a second but Steven can smell the shampoo in your hair, and he feels like home. He only used it the once, but he never wanted that smell to end after he had showered at your place.
When you pull away you’re smiling at him. “I really like you too, Steven Grant. And you may not be a fan of quizzes, but I still wanna go on this date with you, even if it means we come last in the quiz and embarrass ourselves to death.”
Steven can’t help but smile. You just had that effect on him. He pulls the courage from deep within, imagining that he’s just as confident as Marc, or even Jake for that matter, and he holds out his hand for you. You take it willingly, and the pair of you enter the restaurant.
That night, your team name is Laters Gators, at Steven’s request. You chat and you laugh and you eat and - most importantly - you come fourth out of six teams at the quiz night. The pair of you hold hands while you write the answers and Steven tries to answer as many as he can. He’s not as good as you, even when he subtly listens to Marc and Jake who, for the most part, know their stuff.
It’s a great night, and by the end of the quiz both you and Steven realise this is a great start to a new relationship.

I like how you write, so I was wondering if it was possible a "Kate x FemReader" where Kate was a little distant and cold and the reader was sad, they argue a little about this but the truth is that Kate preparing a surprise for the reader's birthday, something for the two of them, romantic and fluffy. Thank you if you'll do my request. (*^ワ^*)Have a great day/night❣
Promises

Summary: The request!
Warnings: Mentions of cheating
Word Count: 4.2k
Author’s Note: Sorry it took me a bit to write this request, but here is it! I hope you like it! Also, I apologize for any grammatical errors. ❤️
Tumblr media
You weren't sure what had caused Kate to become so distant lately. It seemed like she was always too busy to spend time with you, and you didn't know why. She'd been more secretive with her phone and her whereabouts, and it honestly worried you.
Was she cheating on you? Had she lost feelings and was just afraid to say something?
So many possible reasons for her recent behavior ran through your mind, and it scared you to think that some of them might actually be true.
With your birthday being in only a week you hoped none of your thoughts would become reality because that would be the worst birthday present in all of history. But you didn't know anything for sure besides the change in her behavior began a couple weeks ago...
~~~
"Hi, Katie!" you happily greeted your girlfriend as you flopped down next to her on the couch of the compound living room.
She quickly shut her laptop that was on her lap before looking at you, "Hey, baby!" Kate nervously chucked, "When did you get here? I thought your moms didn't have to come in until tomorrow."
You slightly frowned at her actions, "Just a few minutes ago. Fury called them in for a last minute meeting, so I decided to tag along to come see you."
"Well I am extremely happy to see you, pretty girl. I missed you." Kate softly spoke as she leaned in to kiss you, but before your lips could touch you placed a hand on her chest to stop her. She looked at you with worried eyes and pulled back, "What's wrong?" Kate asked.
"What were you doing on your laptop?"
She hummed in confusion with furrowed eyebrows at your question. "When I came in here you closed your laptop like you were hiding something. Are you?" you clarified.
"What? No, I would never hide something from you, baby. I just wanted to give my full attention to my girl now that you're here." Kate assured you with a sincere smile.
You searched her eyes for any signs of deception, "Are you sure?"
"One-hundred percent, my love." she confirmed before you just decided to let it go with a nod of your head, "Wanna watch a movie? Yelena went shopping earlier and bought some of the good snacks if you're hungry." Kate suggested as she reached for the television remote to turn on the TV.
"Sure, as long as I get to pick what we watch. Your taste in movies is a bit...different?" you said with a giggle.
"Fine," Kate playfully rolled her eyes while standing up, "You pick the movie, and I'll go get snacks." she said, leaning down to peck your lips before heading off into the kitchen.
~~~
You thought that would just be a weird one time thing from your girlfriend, so you pushed it to the back of your mind and tried to forget about it. That was going pretty well until her suspicious demeanor continued and the amount of unusual behavior from her started to pile up.
Like when she canceled your date night plans at the last minute a few days later...
~~~
You were laying in bed reading a new book you've been obsessed with when your phone rang from beside you. Your eyes shifted away from the pages to look at the screen and when you saw your girlfriend's contact name on the screen, your heart fluttered.
Setting aside your book, you tapped the button to answer and held the phone up to your ear, "Hi, Katie!"
"Hey, baby." she responded, her tone sounding a bit sorrowful which caught your attention immediately.
"What's up? Are we still on for tonight? I've been looking forward to it all week." you questioned with a grin just at the thought of seeing her later on.
"Um, yeah, about that..." Kate trailed off.
You furrowed your eyebrows, "What's wrong?"
"I'm gonna need a rain check on our date. Something came up and I can't make it." she explained.
Your once fluttering heart dropped at her words. You had been so excited to finally spend time with her after being busy with your moms all week.
You missed her.
Kate told you she missed you just as much which is why she promised to keep her schedule today clear of missions and anything extra. But you can't blame her because it's not her fault.
"Oh," you said sadly, "That's okay. What came up? Did Fury give you a mission?"
"No, I just have some personal stuff that I have to take care of. I'm sorry, baby. I know you were excited for our date, but I promise I'll make it up to you soon." Kate answered which made you frown.
You both tell eachother everything, so you found it odd how she wasn't telling you what came up that caused her to cancel on you at the last minute. You were confused, but you decided to just leave it alone for now.
"Okay, I understand. I'll talk to you later?" you asked, hopeful.
"Yeah, of course, I'll call you. I love you." she responded. You repeated the words back to her before hanging up.
Dropping your phone, you rested your head back on the headboard with a sigh. Personal stuff? What was that supposed to mean? You didn't wanna think about it at first, but the thought of her possibly cheating on you or having lost feelings now seemed like it might actually become true.
A knock on your bedroom door broke you out of your thoughts, "Yeah?" you called out.
The door opened revealing Wanda, "Hey, dinner will be done in a couple minutes if you're hungry." she said.
"Alright, thanks." you gave her a small smile that, as your mother, Wanda was easily able to tell you forced out.
"What's wrong, darling?" she wondered.
You looked up at her with a hum, "Nothing, I'm fine." you answered.
Wanda playfully rolled her eyes at the lie and entered your room, taking a seat on the edge of your bed, "You know you can talk to me, right? I know kids don't necessarily prefer to talk to their parents about their problems, but I want you to be able to talk to me."
You nodded your head, "Yeah. Yeah I know." you said while sitting up, "It's nothing, really. Kate and I might just be going through a rough patch."
She lightly frowned, "What do you mean?"
"I don't know. Kate's been acting a little off. First she started hiding things from me, and now she just canceled our date because 'something came up' in her words." you explained and Wanda just listened, "I just feel like something might be up with her."
Wanda had a sympathetic expression on her face as she looked at you, "Oh, I'm sorry, honey. Have you talked to her about it?"
"Yeah, the first time it happened. She promised me there was nothing going on so I left it alone, but now I'm starting to doubt that." you responded.
Wanda just pulled you in for a hug, comfortingly rubbing your back, "I'm sorry, sweetie. I'm sure things will get better very soon. Your mom and I both know that Kate loves you too much to let you go, but we're here for you if you need us."
"Thanks, mom. I think I'm just gonna go eat dinner and then settle down for the night." you pulled away from the hug.
"Okay, sweetie. I love you."
"I love you too." you said before she left your room, closing the door behind her.
~~~
That leads you to now.
Kate was driving you home after going on your rescheduled date that she promised to make up to you. Your birthday was tomorrow, and things were seemingly back to normal. Kate had been showering you with affection and she called you fifteen times a day just to tell you that she loved you like she always had.
Wanda was right when she told you things would get better...but it didn't last.
You and Kate were singing along to your favorite song when her phone rang. She took her phone out of the cupholder and looked between the screen and the road. You watched as she pressed the red button to quickly decline the call and then set her phone in the compartment on her door, away from you.
"Who was that?" you asked.
She shook her head, "Nobody."
That's how she always answered whenever you asked what was up. She brushed it off and it was beginning to get on your nerves.
"Are you cheating on me?"
To say Kate was shocked at your question would be an understatement. 'Why would you ever think such a thing?' she thought to herself. She loves you more than anything in this world, and Kate thought you knew that.
"Because if you are, just tell me so we can get this over with." you added.
"Baby, where is this coming from? Why would you think I'm cheating on you?" she asked, glancing at you before looking back at the road.
You shrugged your shoulders with a scoff, "Oh, I don't know. It's just the way you've been acting recently. Like that time where you shut your laptop the second I walked into the room, and then you took a raincheck on our date because you had 'something to take care of'. Now someone just called you and you're gonna tell me that it's nobody?"
As Kate listened to you she cursed herself for not realizing what her recent secretiveness looked like. Now she understands why you would think she's cheating on you, but that's not what's not even close to happening. Kate would clear everything up for you right now if she could, but she couldn't.
That would just ruin what she's been planning.
"Listen, I understand why you'd think that and I'm sorry for making it seem that way, but I promise you I am not cheating on you. I would never." Kate assured you, but you just rolled your eyes. "Nothing is going on, you just have to trust me, baby." she said as she parked the car in front of your house.
"I've swept everything under the rug because I trust you, but I'm tired of it now, Kate." you said.
Kate sighed and looked at you, "I know, baby, and I'm sorry. I love you so much, but I can't tell you right now. "
It was your turn to sigh now, "Fine" you unbuckled your seatbelt, "Just call me when you wanna tell the truth." you said as you got out of the car and made your way inside your house.
She watched you close the front door with guilt written all over her face. Kate never meant to upset you. She just wanted to plan a surprise for you to make you happy, but she sees now that she wasn't very good at trying to keep it a secret.
Kate just hopes that you're not too mad at her to talk to her tomorrow when she can finally show you what she's been doing all this time.
~~~
"Good morning, honey. Happy birthday!" Wanda enthusiastically spoke when she heard you enter the kitchen the next day.
You gave her a smile as you sat down at the kitchen table, "Thanks, mom."
"Got any plans for today? Going out with friends or are you and Kate doing something?" she asked, keeping an eye on the food she had cooking.
You sighed at the mention of your girlfriend, "I don't know. We got into a small argument last night when she dropped me off and haven't talked since."
"Who got into an argument last night?" Natasha jumped in as walked into the kitchen. She approached your spot at the table and leaned down to kiss the side of your head, muttering a 'Happy birthday, sweetheart.' to you before going to look through the fridge for something to drink.
"Thank you, mama." you said, "Kate and I got into a small argument when I asked her about why she's been acting so off recently."
Natasha and Wanda looked at each other before turning to you, "We're sorry, darling. Your mom told me about that night when she canceled your date. I'm sure she didn't mean to hurt you. We see how much Kate cares about you so I know things will eventually work themselves out. You probably have nothing to worry about, dear." Natasha reassured you and Wanda nodded her head in agreement.
You tried to think positively after seeing how your moms were doing so, but you were finding it kind of hard to. However, what you didn't know was that they were fully aware of Kate's plans, which is why they were trying to comfort you like this.
She had let them in on her idea to surprise you for your birthday so that she could ask their opinions on things, but now they were silently scolding Kate for upsetting their daughter because of her inability to act normal while sorting out this surprise.
You just shrugged your shoulders as they sat at the table with you, setting down plates of food. That was when your phone dinged, letting you know you had gotten a text. You looked at the lit up screen that had a message from Kate's contact.
Good morning, pretty girl! Happy birthday! I'm sorry about last night and I hope you're not too angry with me about it. I'm a little busy this morning so I won't be by until evening, but I love you so much and I hope you have a great start to your day! I'll see you later, my love. ❤️❤️❤️
You weren't sure what to think at this point. You were confused. Deep down you know that Kate would never hurt you, but then why had she been acting like this? You wanted answers, yet weren't getting them.
Letting out a sigh, you stood up from your chair, "Actually, I'm not really that hungry."
Wanda and Natasha glanced at each other, "Are you sure, honey? Breakfast is the most important meal of the day." Wanda chuckled in an attempt to lighten the mood.
"Yeah, I'm just a little tired. I'll be up in my room if you need me." you said before making your way upstairs.
They heard you bedroom door shut before sighing.
"Bishop better make this little surprise worth it if she's gonna upset Y/N this much." Natasha practically growled, turning to her wife.
Wanda shook her head, "It'll be fine. Remember how stressed out she was when trying to find a present for her? Kate cares too much to give Y/N anything less than what she deserves."
Natasha leaned back in her chair, "I hope you're right."
~~~
It was now evening and Kate just pulled up to your house. The sun was set, the stars were out, and everything had been working out perfectly. She knows however, that it might be a challenge to convince you to come with her.
She walked up the front steps with a bouquet of your favorite flowers for you in hand and rang the doorbell, patiently waiting for someone to answer.
A few moments later the door opened, revealing Wanda, "Kate! Hi, it's good to see you." she said as she stepped aside to allow Kate inside.
"It's good to see you too, Mrs. Romanoff." Kate replied with a genuine smile.
"Y/N is up in her room. She's barely come downstairs today because she's been so upset." Wanda told her which made another wave of guilt wash over her. She thanked Wanda and made her way to the stairs, politely greeting Natasha on the way.
Kate stood outside your room and took a deep breath before knocking on the door. She waited for you to answer before opening the door and stepping inside, "Hey, love." she said.
You lifted your head away from your book to look at her, "Hi." you quietly responded.
She approached your bed and held the bouquet out for you to take, "I know the old ones are starting to die, so I got you new ones."
You took the flowers from her with a small smile, "Thank you, Katie."
Kate stood there for a moment, contemplating what to do, "Listen" she started, sitting next to you on your bed, "I know you're mad at me for how I've been acting recently, but I have a reason for it. I couldn't tell you before, but I can tell you now." she said, "Well I can't really tell you, I have to show you."
"Kate it's late and I'm tired–"
"Please," she cut you off and took your hand into hers, "Please, just come with me. You said you wanted the truth, and what I'm about to show you is the truth."
You gazed into her pleading eyes and thought for a second, "This is gonna explain what you've been up to all this time?"
"Yep," Kate smiled, "So get your cute butt up, get dressed, and let's go." she grinned at your giggle and kissed your forehead before leaving the room to let you get ready.
A few minutes later your footsteps walking down the stairs interrupted Kate's conversation with your moms. She looked at you with adoring eyes, "Ready to go, beautiful?" she asked, standing up from the couch.
You hummed as she grabbed her keys and led you to the front door with a hand on your lower back.
"Hey, Bishop," Natasha said before you could walk out the door. Kate turned around to look at your mom who had her arms crossed, "Drive slow."
Kate gave her a quick nod of her head in understandment, "Yes, Mrs. Romanoff." she agreed before leading you out of the house and to her car.
"Where are we going?" you asked as she pulled out of the driveway.
"You'll see soon enough." Kate smiled at you.
And you did.
A little while later Kate parked in front of a place that you both knew like the back of your hands even in the dark. It was the lake that you had your very first date at after Kate asked you out.
She had set up a nice lakeside picnic on a sunny, breezy day where she taught you how to use her bow, and you fed the ducks and skipped rocks.
You haven't been back since, but you were happy Kate decided to bring you.
"Katie, what're we doing here? We haven't been here in forever." you gazed out the window, taking in the familiar sights.
"Come on, I'll show you." Kate said, getting out of the car with you. She grabbed your hand and intertwined your fingers to lead the way.
She began following the dirt trail through the trees and along the lake. It hadn't been too much of a long walk when Kate stopped, "We're almost there, so I'm gonna cover your eyes now. Do you trust me?" she asked.
"Yeah, of course." you answered before she placed her hands over your eyes and carefully led you the rest of the way. When she eventually stopped again you assumed you had arrived.
"Okay, are you ready?"
"Yes, Katie, just show me already." you said and she chuckled at your eagerness.
When she removed her hands from your eyes your breath hitched at the sight. It was just like your first date, but so much more. Blankets and pillows were laid on the grass with food sat on top and lit candles carefully placed on the ground.
Rose petals were scattered all around, fairy lights hung on the branches of the surrounding trees which gave the scene a beautiful, romantic glow with the sound of the gentle ripples of water from the lake.
It was gorgeous.
"Do you like it?" Kate hopefully asked.
"Like it?" you repeated in shock, "I love it...I love it, Katie."
She breathed out a sigh of relief, "Thank god, I thought it would be too much. I mean you didn't tell me what you wanted to do for your birthday, but I knew I obviously had to do something so I practically begged your moms to help me plan this. They probably got tired of me–"
"Wait, my moms knew about this?"
Kate scratched the back of her neck, "Well, yeah. They helped me pick out some of the decorations and your mom gave me recipes for the food because we both know I can't cook."
You giggled, "It looks amazing. This is what you've been up to lately? You did all of this yourself?"
"Not all of it. Yelena helped me set most of this up. She's actually the one who called me yesterday. She was letting me know that she got the fairy lights I asked for. I just told you it was no one so you didn't get suspicious, but that clearly backfired." Kate confessed.
"Oh," you mumbled. Now you're the one who felt guilty for ever doubting Kate's loyalty to you. You should've known better, "I'm sorry for not believing you when you said there wasn't anything going on. I was just worried."
Kate shook her head with a small smile, "It's okay, I understand. I was acting pretty weird so you had every right to suspect something. But, now you know what I've been doing so there's no need to think about it anymore, okay?" she spoke to you softly, gently cupping your cheeks.
"Okay." you whispered. Kate leaned down to capture your lips in a tender kiss, moving her hands down to your sides as yours went to her neck.
You eventually pulled away when air became a necessity and Kate rested her forehead against your own, "We should probably eat the food before it gets cold." she said.
Nodding your head you let her take your hand and lead you towards the blankets where you sat down and began looking through the options.
Time always felt like it flew by at a lightning speed whenever you were with Kate. You could never get enough of the way her terrible jokes made you laugh to the point where you were out of breath, or the way she looked at you while you were talking, how she took her time whenever she kissed you.
You could never get enough of her.
So you shouldn't have been surprised when a couple hours of you two flicking food at each other, and skipping rocks, and laughing until you couldn't breath, and sharing sweet kisses ended up passing by.
"And then Tony got so mad at me and Clint for destroying all of that equipment with the arrows we made that he just ended up making a whole separate room solely for archery." Kate said and you giggled as she was telling you about one of the many times she's stressed out Tony.
Kate gazed at you as your laugh gradually winded down with adoring eyes. "Hey, I actually got a little something for you." she said, searching through a bag that was set off to the side.
"Oh Kate, you didn't have to. This is already enough as it is." you gestured to everything she had set up around you.
"Yeah, but I wanted to. Besides, I think you're really gonna like this." Kate spoke as she pulled out a small pink box with a cute ribbon decorating it and handed it to you.
You looked between her and the box.
"Go on, open it. It's what I was buying that day I hid my laptop from you. It's also what I went to pick up when I canceled our date, so this almost got me in trouble." she laughed with you and watched as you untied the ribbon and opened the box.
You gasped at what sat in the center of the box. It was a gorgeous silver ring with a small heart shaped diamond attached that shimmered in the dimly lit area.
Kate gently grabbed the box from you and took the ring out, holding it in front of you, "Now it's only a promise ring, but I hope to eventually change that." she said and you giggled, "I want this ring to remind you of how much I love you whenever you look at it, Y/N. I promise that one day, I'll replace this ring with an engagement ring, but until then I want you to know that I'll always stay loyal to you because I love you more than anything else in this world."
Her words were so sweet that a single tear ran down your cheek. She reached out wipe away the tear before taking hold of your left hand and you gladly let her. She slipped the ring onto your ring finger and admired how it was a perfect fit.
She brought that hand up to her lips and gave it a soft kiss, "I love you, Y/N. So, so much." she whispered to you.
You surged forward and connected your lips in a passionate kiss. You had caught Kate so off guard that she had to hold your waist steady to keep from falling back as you wrapped your arms around her neck.
"I love you more, Katie. So much more." you breathlessly spoke against her lips before connecting them once again.
She grinned into the kiss, "Happy birthday, baby."

Summary: They've beaten this plot point to death, dancing around each other and wallowing in miscommunication and things unsaid. So why should this time be any different? Oh, yeah. Because Chuck's gone. And Cas is human now, all thanks to Dean. Surely this whole miscommunication won't backfire on them when they take on what seems to be a shifter case involving people killing their lover and then themselves. Surely not.
Excerpt: “Why does this sound like a goodbye?” is all Dean’s voice can say. He already knows the answer before Cas ever opens his mouth. “Because it is.” No. Don’t. Dean opens his mouth but before he can stop Cas – “I love you.” Dean shakes his head madly. Take it back! Take it back! he’s tempted to shriek like a child. But take-backsies doesn’t exist for this. For…that. THUD. “Don’t do this, Cas.” Dean’s voice hitches. But then there’s a wet sound, a chittering, and Dean already knows before he turns what he’s going to see: a mass of black goo squeezing itself between the bricks, sighing into existence, ready to take the one person who’s seen Dean at his lowest, at his ugliest, and chosen time and time again to stay, to believe in him, to… I love you. I love you. Don’t do this. SLAM. The door finally bursts open and Billie stalks into the room, murder glinting in her eyes. “Cas…” Cas rests his bloody hand on Dean’s shoulder. His left shoulder. The handprint shoulder. Dean gasps in a breath. “Goodbye, Dean.” Dean shakes his head wordlessly. Cas tenses, like he’s about to throw Dean away, discard him like everyone else who’s ever loved him, but Dean grabs the lapels of Cas’ trench coat. He squeezes. He shakes his head again. “No,” he forces out. “Don’t leave me. Please.” Cas doesn’t say anything. He just stands there with that tearful smile that makes Dean want to punch him in his stupid, handsome face and Dean scrambles for some way – any way – to keep Cas here, to save him from the Empty…to make him stay. “Let me come with you,” Dean begs in a twisted mockery of Cas’ plea before he’d gone to face Amara. “I’ll come with you, Cas.” “No.” Cas shakes his head. “You can’t. Humans don’t belong in the Empty. And even if you could come, I wouldn’t let you. I’m saving you, Dean.” Humans don’t belong in the Empty. The rejection stings, burns like alcohol on a fresh cut, ensuring that Dean knows damn well that he’s never been able to follow Cas like Cas has followed him. All he’s ever been able to do is keep Cas with him, except for all the times Cas had flown off on him. Typical flighty angel, always spreading his wings, taking flight, leaving Dean in the dust – Dean freezes. His breath crystallises in his chest. Could he…would it…does he dare to hope… “Humans don’t belong in the Empty.” “Dean?” Cas tilts his head, still smiling. Something slithers behind Dean, chitters in his ear, rasps in the air, and he draws a deep, rattling breath into his porcelain lungs. “I’m sorry, Cas,” he chokes.

Ch 8 - Or Down Affections Cloudless Sky
Kate woke the next morning to the quiet serenade of songbirds and the soft caress of a gentle breeze through the leaves. The day embraced her with warmth, a welcome comfort after a long exhausting night. Sitting up, she found herself on Arthur’s cot, but he was nowhere in sight. A twinge of guilt tugged at her for taking his bed. Her waist was bound in cloth, the pain from her wound lingered but it was nothing she was not used to by now.
Her gaze drifted to the shoreline, where Belle and Lorena nibbled on cattails, exactly where they had been the night before. She sighed in relief, sensing that calm had returned and a semblance of normalcy had settled over the camp. The smell of eggs and pork filled the air, and her stomach made its hunger known.
Heading towards the chuck wagon, Kate noted the camp was now organized, a silent testament to the efficiency of her companions. However, Micah was nowhere to be seen. She made a mental note to have a friendly discussion with him later. Seizing a plate, she settled at the wooden table to eat, only to be joined by Abigail moments later.
“Mind if I sit with you?” She asked politely.
Kate shook her head, swallowing a mouthful of food. “Not at all,” she replied, gesturing for Abigail to join her.
Abigail smiled warmly as she settled onto a wooden crate, pulling Kate’s revolver from the pocket of her dress and sliding it across the table. “I just wanted to say thank you,” she admitted, her gratitude shining in her eyes, “for what you did for us last night.”
Kate accepted the revolver and holstered it, waving off Abigail’s thanks. “No thanks needed, Abigail. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.”
Abigail sighed, her gaze drifting towards Jack in the distance, skipping rocks across the water. John was nearby, unloading the wagon while keeping a watchful eye on their son.
“I keep prayin’ for this all to end,” Abigail confessed, her voice tinged with weariness. “My boy deserves a better life than this.”
Kate empathized deeply with Abigail’s longing for a different life for her son. This was no environment to raise a child, but it was the hand they were dealt for survival. During her time here, however fleeting, Kate vowed to find a way to help them break free from this cycle of violence. They deserved a chance at a peaceful life, far removed from the shadows of death.
“I’m not a religious woman Abigail,” Kate began thoughtfully, “but in my life I’ve found that a prayer always has one of three answers; yes, not yet, and I have something else planned for you. I have faith that your boy will turn out just fine.” After all, he had the entire camp as his protectors, willing to sacrifice everything for his safety.
Abigail’s expression softened into a solemn smile. “I know that bravery is found in living,” she replied earnestly, “but sometimes I don’t feel very brave. I felt useless back there. If you hadn’t come along and given that rifle to John, I don’t know what would have happened.” She shuddered at the memories.
“That’s nonsense,” Kate retorted, squeezing Abigail's hand reassuringly, “you’re the bravest woman I know. There’s nothing more courageous than a mother willing to lay down her life for her son. And last night, I saw a strong woman fiercely protecting her child. I knew you would stop at nothing to defend your boy.”
Abigail’s smile deepened at Kate’s words, and she looked down bashfully as she placed her hand over Kate’s. “I hope that’s true.”
“I know that's true,” she interjected with conviction.
With a quiet laugh, Abigail stood to depart. “I think you would make a great mother, Kate,” she said, her words carrying genuine warmth. It meant a lot to Kate to hear such kindness, especially after everything she had been through. Her thoughts drifted back to Arthur and their conversation from the night before.
“Thank you,” Kate said sincerely. Before Abigail could leave, she added, “Have you seen Arthur this morning?”
“I think he’s sleeping against a tree over by the water,” Abigail pointed in his direction, and Kate could see the outline of his legs stretched out beneath a shady tree.
With an extra plate of breakfast and a cup of fresh coffee in hand, Kate made her way over to Arthur to express her gratitude for his service the previous night. As she approached, she was a little surprised to see that he was already awake, writing something in his journal. He closed it with a thunk when he noticed Kate’s figure approaching.
“Mornin’ sunshine,” Arthur greeted with a warm smile.
Kate couldn't help but smile back. “Good morning, Arthur,” she said, bending down to hand him his food and drink.
“That for me?” Arthur exclaimed with surprise. She nodded as their hands met to pass the plate. His hunger was palpable. “Aw shucks, Kate, ya didn’t have to bring me breakfast,” he said bashfully, taking a grateful sip of coffee.
Kate settled into the sandy grass beneath the tree next to him, “it’s the least I can do, for patching me up last night,” she explained, “and for letting me steal your cot.” She added with a hint of embarrassment. She didn’t remember when she had fallen asleep.
Arthur chuckled, taking a bite of his eggs, “don’t mention it. How ya feeling anyways?” He inquired about the bullet wound in her side.
“I’ve been through worse,” she admitted with a bitter laugh, her hand grazing the side of her hip where he had squeezed the bullet through her flesh.
Arthur sighed, and gave her a sympathetic look, “I’m so sorry Kate, that is a hard life,” he said sincerely, recalling her recount of her past. “No one deserves to go through that.”
Kate waved off his apology. “I’ve made my peace with it,” she professed, her eyes meeting his own, “but I owe you an apology for how I acted at the ranch.” Arthur wanted to speak up and tell her he was the one who should be apologizing, but he let her continue.
“For what it’s worth. I know what it’s like to hate yourself just as much as you hate the world. And whatever darkness your past carries, I do not think less of you for it.”
His face softened, and his heart pulsed. Arthur felt like he was looking into a reflection of himself, or what he could have been. He concluded last night that Kate is the bravest woman he had ever met, braver than he could ever be. And he greatly admired her for it. Darkness and damnation was nothing new to him, but he believed in his heart that he was already too damned to be brought back to the light. He is a person who has caused so much suffering, he believed he didn’t deserve happiness. He had fully convinced himself of his own cruelty.
“Kate, I think I’m the one who owes you an apology. I -” he began. Suddenly, Arthur’s name was called from within the camp. His duties never ceased; even on quiet mornings. “Damnit,” he muttered. With a grunt he chugged the last of his coffee before standing. Turning to her he promised, “I’ll come find you later.”
Kate smiled sympathetically with a nod, offering him a parting reminder, “don’t keep hidden what matters Arthur, even from yourself.”
He placed his hat on his head and tipped it to her in a warm gesture before taking off back into the camp. Kate settled against the tree and was about to close her eyes just as her loyal mare Lorena came trotting over to her side of the beach. Eager for attention. She chuckled at the sight, “how ya doin’ pretty girl.”
━━━━━༻❁༺━━━━━
After valentine, we fled the country and headed even further south and east, camping by a lake. This is pretty much new country for me. If only we had fled west out of Blackwater, we could be free now, out where we belong beyond civilization with the savages and the animals. Here, we won’t ever be at home.
By some miracle, my mean nasty ugly self has yet to scare Kate away. Even after that debt collecting mess. That kinda work is revolting, and it shames me, and I think she is the first woman to ever see me and set me straight. Mary saw this side of me too, but she knew I would never change, so she left me. I could not offer her the life she deserved. Oh Mary, what a couple of fools we were.
Kate said she came back for Abigail and her boy, from one mother to another. She wants peace for them too, away from this nonsense and lies. Ain’t that what we’re all seeking? Not sure I know myself anymore. Dutch don’t seem too worried that the law keeps finding us, I’m beginnin’ to doubt his wisdom.
I had never seen a woman fight so brutally as Kate, and now I know why. I can handle the unkindness of existence. But to hear it from the lips of a good honest woman, it damn near broke my heart. I don’t know how she does it. After everything that life handed her, goodness comes naturally to her. Like she does not oppose GOOD vs EVIL as it rages within me. I’ve seen her rage and bloodlust and it frightens me, but she is ashamed of that part of herself. Perhaps we have more in common than I thought.
Arthur made his way through camp in search of Dutch, a slight annoyance lingering from his interrupted conversations with Kate. Yet Kate seemed understanding; she knew he was a busy man and showed sympathy towards him. Last night, as he tenderly stitched her back together, he saw a different side of her—she had bared her heart and soul. He realized why it was important for him to know this side of her; she saw someone she could relate to. But Arthur believed he was beyond saving.
Unlike Kate, Arthur was born into the flame. Blood and violence had been his companions since childhood; he never experienced the loving embrace of a mother or father. A child born in the flame loves the fire and becomes its fuel, perpetuating its rage.
Kate, on the other hand, was burned by the flame. She had a loving family, a proper and honest life with her husband and child—all stripped away. Then, the fire engulfed her. She had to become the flame to ensure it would never burn her again.
Arthur found Dutch by the lakeshore on the opposite side of camp. "How are you doing, old friend?" Dutch asked, calling out to him.
"Fine," Arthur retorted, his frustration evident. Last night's events and Micah's actions toward Kate weighed heavily on him, and he felt Dutch bore some responsibility. Since arriving at the new hideout, Dutch hadn't even acknowledged Kate, let alone thanked her for her help.
"It's funny... us ending up down here," Dutch continued, his voice reflective. "My daddy died in a field in Pennsylvania fighting this lot. Did I ever tell you that?"
Arthur nodded wearily. "Many times, Dutch."
Dutch noticed his disinterest. "I see I'm boring you, Arthur."
He blew out a breath, his frustration simmering. "No, you're worrying me. We could've lost people last night. Why didn't you send some men back to help us?"
"We have lofty goals, Arthur," Dutch replied, his tone rehearsed. "Our primary objective was to escape the law."
“Our primary objective is to keep everyone safe!” Arthur's voice rose with anger. “Kate took a bullet for the Marston’s, that's more than I can say about you Dutch.”
"Society is reforming, son," Dutch said, sounding like he was delivering a sermon. "We're trying to make it better, kinder, and truer. There will be casualties..."
"The world don’t want us no more. Why aren't we heading back west? What are we even doing here?" Arthur pressed.
Dutch sighed, raising his hands in a placating gesture. "We are dreamers in a world of facts, Arthur. But come on, let me make it up to you, son."
Typical Dutch, always deflecting when he didn't have a direct answer. Everything was a strategic move in his mind, and he always had to be the one in control. Arthur followed as Dutch led him further down the beach, where a large rowboat was waiting ashore with Hosea and John standing nearby.
"We've got the day, and it's beautiful out. Thought it'd be nice to take my boys out fishin' like the good old times," Dutch said with a smile. "Hosea says there's a creek around here, probably full of fish."
Arthur tipped his hat to his father and brother as they approached. John looked just as perplexed as Arthur. They weren't kids anymore, and it had been ages since they did anything together that didn't involve something illegal.
"You don't look too rosy, old friend. I thought this warmer weather would—" Dutch began, turning to Hosea.
"My days of looking good are long over, Dutch," Hosea admitted with a chuckle, then turned to Arthur. "How's the young lady? Heard she got shot last night."
Arthur sighed. "She'll be alright. Nothing too bad. But I'm gonna have some words with that sack of shit Micah," he added bitterly.
"I'll do you one better and put a bullet between his eyes," John quipped, earning a chuckle from Arthur. "I owe Kate that much. She seriously did me a solid by lending me her rifle."
"Nobody's shootin’ nobody," Dutch's gravelly voice cut through. "Now c'mon, help an old man get this in the water." He gestured toward the wooden boat.
Arthur and John exchanged a look. Hosea rolled his eyes. "Always bursting the bubble, you. C'mon, boys, let's go catch some fish." He joined Dutch in pushing the boat into the water.
Together, they climbed aboard the wooden craft. John took up the oars and rowed toward the supposed creek Hosea had mentioned. As he rowed, Arthur took in the surrounding scenery. It was a beautiful, cloudless day, the sun beating down warmly. It had been a while since he could relax and enjoy himself, so he set aside his grievances with Dutch, if only for the afternoon.
Dutch was the first to break the silence, as usual. "You know, before any of them back there," he began, gesturing toward the other gang members, "it was just us. The curious couple and their two unruly sons." He chuckled with a grateful sigh. "This feels good, thanks for doing this with me, boys," Dutch added, his expression full of pride and gratitude as he looked at his two sons.
He continued, "I feel like we can really breathe here. As thick and soupy as this air is, it might even do your whistling pipes some good, Hosea."
Hearing Dutch comment on Hosea's health worried Arthur. Since they left Colter, Hosea's health had been declining. The harsh cold had taken its toll, and he feared his father figure was nearing his end. Hosea had a rattling cough that struck fear into Arthur's heart every time he heard it, imagining the worst as Hosea struggled for air.
"I was once in this country with Bessie," Hosea ignored Dutch's comment, lost in his memories of his late wife. "Oh, it feels like a lifetime ago."
“It was a lifetime ago,” Dutch chimed, “what a life we have lived. How well we have fought, especially you two.” His gaze finding Arthur and John’s. “With just a little more money, we’ll be out of here in no time. We just need to stay hidden.”
Hosea raised a brow, “oh, is that so?”
“I have a plan Hosea, I’ve got ideas hatching I just,” he hesitated a moment, “I need you with me, not against me. All of you.”
Arthur nodded, “ ‘course Dutch.”
“We’re always with you Dutch,” John piped in from the back of the boat.
The unlikely family rowed the rest of the way in comfortable silence. They listened to the lapping of the water, the song of the seabirds, and felt the gentle breeze tickle their hair. It truly was a beautiful day for fishing. Arthur tilted his face to the sun and relaxed his shoulders. Moments like this made him believe that maybe things would turn out okay for them in the end.
━━━━━༻❁༺━━━━━
Kate spent the morning tending to her mare, staying close to the shoreline, brushing and washing the blood from Lorena's coat. She hummed a quiet tune, feeling Lorena's affectionate sniffs on her face. Guilt gnawed at Kate for pushing Lorena too hard the previous night, though the horse seemed unfazed. Memories flooded back of when they first met.
Lorena was found in an abandoned barn, where she and River had chased down horse thieves. Just a frightened filly, barely a year old, she had been left tied up after the thieves fled in a hurry. It took Kate months to earn her trust, enduring every buck and bite. But the bond they forged was unbreakable—Lorena would stop at nothing for her rider, just as Kate would gladly lay down her life for her baby girl.
As Kate combed Lorena's dark mane, she noticed the mare's ears flickering back and forth, as if sensing something. Kate was about to ask her what was wrong when Sadie's voice erupted from within the camp.
“Say whatever you damn well please, but I tell you, if you ask me to chop one more vegetable I’m going to kill you!” She shouted, her frustration evident.
Mr. Pearson answered her in equal anger, “and if you don’t stop hissing at me, I’m going to kill you!” He retorted.
Kate spun on her heel and sprinted back into camp toward the chuck wagon. There, she found Sadie and Pearson squabbling, with Sadie brandishing a knife and Pearson looking ready to explode.
“Can’t somebody else help you cook for once? I ain’t your damn housewife!” Sadie shouted, pointing the tip of the knife at Pearson.
“You put that knife down or you’re going to be missing a hand, young lady!” Pearson roared back.
Kate approached the wagon, hands on her hips in disappointment. “What the hell is wrong with you two?” she shouted over them.
“I ain’t chopping vegetables for a living,” Sadie answered, slamming the knife down on the cutting board. She threw her hands up in frustration. “And I ain’t being lazy neither. I can work, but not like this!”
Kate sympathetically tilted her head. Despite their differences, she could understand Sadie's frustration. She'd gladly handle the simple duties and stay out of trouble, but Sadie thrived on adventure. You couldn’t keep a woman like her cooped up for long.
Sadie moved to the other side of the wagon, taking a deep breath before turning back to Pearson and Kate. “My husband and I shared the work, all of it,” she explained. “I tended to the fields, hunted, carried a gun, and used a knife.” Her voice rose in anger. “If you keep me here, I’ll skin this old coot and serve him for dinner!”
“Watch your damn mouth, you crazy goddamn fishwife!” Pearson retorted, pointing an accusing finger. Sadie looked ready to pounce.
It was about time Kate stepped between the two, “that’s enough!” She yelled, using her hands to distance the two feral cats from scrapping, she placed a hand on Sadies shoulder to hold her back. She turned her gaze to Pearson, “that includes you too.”
The old man raised his hands in defeat with a grunt. Kate turned to Sadie. “Why don’t we ride into town today? See what we can stir up,” she suggested. “Need anything while we’re out, Pearson?”
The cook reached into his wagon and handed over two pieces of paper. “Here’s my list. Could you also post this letter for me?” Kate nodded, tucking the items into her satchel. With a tip of her hat, she let Pearson get back to work.
The two widows climbed into the empty supply wagon, Kate taking up the reins. Together, they departed from camp and made their way toward Rhodes.
“I guess I’m back to bein’ the mailwoman,” Sadie grumbled. “At least we get to go shoppin’.”
Kate chuckled, nudging her knee against Sadie's. “Oh, come on. It ain’t so bad. We just earned ourselves the entire afternoon to do as we please,” she said with a playful wink. Sadie met her gaze and grinned.
Once they were away from camp, Kate broached the conversation again. “You cooled down now?” she asked, her voice gentle and concerned.
“I guess,” Sadie sighed. “I just hate taking orders from that sweaty half-wit. Hey, what did you do with that letter?” she inquired.
Kate chortled, “oh so the mail woman is also reading people’s letters now?” She asked with a laugh, slightly concerned that she may have snooped in Arthur’s personal letter from Mary.
“Not particularly, I just wanna see who that old bastards writin’ too.”
Kate shook her head, sighing as Sadie eagerly took the letter. In a mockingly low voice, Sadie began to read aloud. “Dear Aunt Cathy,” she started, “I haven’t heard from you in some time, so I pray to the Lord above that your health has not deteriorated further…” Her mocking trailed off as she read the first half of the letter.
Kate sucked in an awkward breath. “Maybe you should, uh, stop there, Sadie.”
The woman pressed on, her eyes scanning over the pages. “Blah blah blah, it’s boring. Oh! Wait a sec, listen to this; since we last corresponded I have traveled widely, making no small name for myself. Before you ask, I am still yet to take a wife but I can assure you it’s not for lack of suitors…”
Kate snorted and quickly covered her mouth, unable to contain her laughter. Sadie’s infectious chuckles mixed with her own amusement. “You think he ever talked to a woman he didn’t pay for?” Sadie managed to say between laughs.
“I guess we’re all hiding behind something,” Kate replied, meeting Sadie’s amused gaze. The laughter bubbled up again, and soon they were both hysterical. The wagon veered off track as Kate was distracted, but she quickly yanked on the reins to right themselves.
“Oh, you are something else Sadie Adler,” Kate gasped, trying to compose herself.
Sadie chuckled and affectionately slapped Kate’s knee. “I think we’re running with a bunch of idiots dressed up like outlaws.” She handed the letter back to Kate as the wagon pulled into town. They guided the horses over to the general store and hopped down.
“I’ll mail this while you do the shopping,” Kate stated, nodding as they parted ways.
After all these years, Kate still held out hope that her aunt would someday write back to her. In every town she passed through, she asked the post office to mail a letter for her. She continued to write to her aunt, but she stopped receiving word back almost a decade ago. She could only assume her aunt was no longer living, but she enjoyed writing her letters nonetheless.
It didn’t take long for them to finish their assigned errands; the post office was a short walk from the general store. As Kate walked back, she saw Sadie and the store clerk finishing up loading the wagon. Sadie had purchased a new outfit, her old worn-out jeans and top replaced by a nice pair of black dukes and a fresh yellow button-down. She looked more at ease after getting out of camp, but Kate suspected the fun wasn’t over yet.
"Alright, anything else we need to do here?" Sadie inquired, dusting her hands and placing them on her hips.
Kate smiled, “Care to join me for a drink?” She nodded towards the saloon up the street.
Sadie followed her gaze and turned back with a grin, “After you, Miss McCanon.”
The two widows settled on the porch of the saloon facing the sun, each with a chilled glass of spiked sweet tea. It wasn’t enough to get them drunk, just enough to take the edge off. It was a beautiful day, so why waste it running errands? Kate’s cheeks were flushed, both from the beating sun and her drink, but her heart felt light. After the hell they all went through last night, she felt she deserved this.
Sadie, equally deep in her glass, ran an idle finger around the rim. “You know, my Jake would’ve loved it here. He was always complaining ‘bout the cold, but I told him a hundred times we could move south and he refused,” she said, lost in the memory of her husband.
Kate nodded somberly, “My husband would’ve liked it here too. He was from Kentucky but moved to Boston when he was a kid. I know he missed the country dearly.”
After a moment, Kate asked a question that had been on her mind, “How come you and Jake never had children?” Despite rarely having time together, they enjoyed sharing pieces of their lives with one another. Kate had told Sadie about her husband and daughter over one of their many late-night poker games. It brought them closer, and they had more in common than she realized.
“We thought about it, but where we lived up in the Grizzlies, it was no place to raise a child,” Sadie explained, scanning the town and its bustling people. “Although, I think this country would’ve been great for us. The owner at the general store said they were building a school here.”
“Can’t say putting kids in school won’t make the world better,” Kate said with a somber sigh.
“At least it’s progress,” Sadie added.
“I’m not even sure I know what that word means anymore,” Kate retorted, taking a sip from her glass.
Sadie leaned in close and whispered in her ear, “This town is full of drunks, Kate. I’m not sure anybody here knows what that word means.” Kate looked over at Sadie and couldn't help but let out a laugh. The two girls chuckled as their laughter fed one another.
After an hour, they decided it was time to head back. Sadie took up the reins this time; she was a little tipsy, as were they both at this point. But it was nothing they couldn’t handle. After a few minutes of riding, they left the town perimeter and entered the plains again, when a few men on horses approached them.
"Hey there," one of the men called out, "what you ladies up to?"
“Just headin’ home,” Kate answered politely.
One of the men maneuvered his horse in front of the wagon, causing Sadie to pull the reins to a halt. “You’re in Lemoyne Raider country. You need to pay a toll to pass through here,” the man declared.
Lemoyne Raiders? Kate's mind raced as she connected the pieces from last night; these people must be from the same group that attacked them. Her demeanor shifted, and she gazed at the two men before her from under the brim of her hat.
“Oh, is that so?” she began coolly, “I don’t think I’ve heard of you.”
“We’re gonna need you to pull over this wagon right now,” the man on Sadie's side of the wagon demanded. Kate caught the flash of iron from his gun as it glinted in the sun. Sadie noticed it too; she turned her head to meet Kate’s gaze. They shared a moment of unspoken understanding, nodding ever so slightly. With a wink, Sadie signaled to make their move.
“Here’s your toll you son of a bitch!” Kate shouted. In unison the two women upholstered their revolvers and shot the men dead, on either side of the wagon.
The raiders tumbled out of their saddles as Sadie cracked the reins, sending the wagon careening forward at a relentless pace. More men appeared from behind, closing in on them along the dry, dusty road.
“Let’s keep this little squabble between us,” Kate chuckled to Sadie, preparing to deal with the raiders. She aimed her pistol and fired, missing her target. With a frustrated grunt, she took another shot, hitting a man in the shoulder this time. She made a mental note to retrieve her rifle from John when they returned.
━━━━━༻❁༺━━━━━
Laughter echoed through the secluded creek, startling birds from the trees. Four fishing lines bobbed idly in the water as the two older gentlemen reminisced about embarrassing tales from their boys' younger days. Despite catching only a few perch and bass, the fish weren’t biting much, perhaps due to their wooden watercraft rocking from their rowdy chuckles. But they couldn’t care less; nothing could spoil such a pleasant afternoon.
"Remember when little John got so spooked holding a fish that he fell right out of the boat? Thank God Arthur was with us or the kid would've drowned!" Dutch chuckled heartily, slapping his knee.
John shook his head, laughing at the memory. "Yeah, well, at least I didn't go to the market, buy the three biggest bass, and try to pass them off like I caught 'em," he teased, nodding towards Arthur. "Dumbass didn't think we'd run into the guy who sold it to him!"
“Oh, not this again,” Arthur grinned, feigning annoyance. "Maybe I should toss you overboard right now, Marston. Let's see how fast you can swim to shore," he playfully threatened. "Oh, that's right, you still can't swim!" He chuckled heartily.
The four men shared another round of laughter. As their giggles died down, Hosea noted the time, “We’ve been out here a while, boys. What do you say we head back and get this cooked for dinner?”
The group nodded in agreement, and Hosea picked up the oars. He was about to lower them into the water when Arthur playfully tapped his arm. “Let me row, you two are getting too old for real labor,” he said with a grin. Remembering how weak Hosea was getting, Arthur wasn’t about to let him do the work. He wanted Hosea to enjoy the evening without tiring himself out.
“And you’re too dumb for anything else,” Hosea quipped back with a smile.
Arthur let out a hearty laugh as he took his seat and lowered the oars. “You’re still too quick for me, old man!”
Hosea playfully bopped him on the top of his head. “I just enjoy picking on children,” he winked. Their banter flowed effortlessly; Arthur always enjoyed spending time with Hosea. He loved Dutch too, but he saw Hosea more as a father figure. Hosea was his role model, and Arthur was his biggest fan.
“Well, I guess we didn’t have much luck fishing,” Dutch remarked after a moment, looking at their small haul.
“Bad luck and stupid fish,” John mused.
“Or maybe the fish had good luck and we’re just stupid,” Arthur added with a snicker.
As Arthur rowed steadily, following the shoreline back to camp, Hosea let out a sigh and gazed out at the water. After a moment, he spoke up. “How do you boys feel about a song?”
The boys launched into a hearty old sea chanty led by Hosea, with Arthur and John joining in on the chorus. As they neared camp, laughter escaped them, a shared contentment settling in. Dutch and Hosea took the fish, signaling they would bring them to Pearson, while Arthur and John guided the boat to a secluded spot on the other side of camp to safeguard it from prying eyes.
Pushing the boat through the shallow waters, John broke the quiet. “I had fun today. Wasn’t sure what Hosea was up to dragging me out of bed this morning, but I actually enjoyed it.”
Arthur chuckled, a hint of playful jab in his voice. “Maybe now you’ll remember to take your own son fishing sometime.”
“Maybe, if someone wasn’t already taking him,” John shot back, irritation creeping into his tone.
Arthur straightened, his expression serious. “Don’t give me that shit, Marston,” he spat,” If you’re not stepping up, what’s the difference? You’ll just run off again.”
“Why are you so interested in my life? Don’t you have your own?” John retorted.
Arthur sighed, his tone softer, “just figure yourself out John, you can’t be two people at once.”
John scoffed, a touch of bitterness coloring his voice. “You’re one to talk, Morgan! At least my kid is alive. Can’t say the same about yours.” He immediately regretted his words as Arthur’s eyes darkened, and he moved closer through the water.
“I am one to talk Marston,” Arthur replied, his conviction mixed with regret. “You left that boy, your family, for nearly a whole damn year!”
John grimaced, avoiding Arthur’s gaze. “You know it ain’t that simple. I wasn’t—” He paused, then continued with a lower voice. “I wasn’t ready to be a father.”
Arthur softened, sympathy in his tone. “And you think I was? Look how that turned out.”
“See? You and I are the same,” John remarked.
“No, we’re not,” Arthur countered with gravity. “You have a family, John. For the love of God, don’t abandon them.”
The boat finally rounded the bend, hidden from strangers’ view. Arthur said nothing more as he left John and headed into camp, his mind heavy with old memories and lingering regrets.
As Arthur made his way toward the fire, ready to settle in for the evening with a cold beer and fresh fish for dinner, rowdy laughter near the chuck wagon caught his attention. To his surprise, Kate and Sadie were busy unloading supplies for Pearson.
"What’s got you girls laughing like a couple of hyenas on caffeine?" Arthur asked with a smile, relieved to hear Kate’s laughter lifting his spirits. He found himself thinking of her more and more, even wishing to be the reason behind her smile.
Sadie chortled and exchanged a look with Kate. "Don’t worry ‘bout it, cowboy," she replied with a laugh. Pearson waved off the girls, and Sadie bid them farewell, mentioning she was off to freshen up before dinner. Kate turned back to Arthur with a smile, and the two of them made their way to the fire to catch up on their day's adventures.
"Heard you caught us some fish for dinner," Kate noted.
Arthur chuckled. "Well, it ain’t much, but it'll do. What were you up to today?"
Kate leaned back against the log, stretching her legs toward the fire. "Posted some mail, did a little shopping, got some drinks with Sadie…" She trailed off, then added, "and, uh, may have run into those raiders again." Arthur sat up, shooting her a worried look.
"Easy there, cowpoke," Kate reassured him, giggling. "Sadie and I took care of it. Just a couple of dumbasses trying to make a quick buck." She shook her head with annoyance.
As the rest of the gang members gathered around the fire with the setting sun, Arthur and Kate continued to chat about their day. The smell of fried fish filled the air, and everyone eagerly awaited dinner. Bottles of beer were passed around, and Kate accepted hers with gratitude. It felt like the perfect way to end the day—crisp drink, good food, and great company.
Javier settled in with his guitar, but before he could strum a tune, he turned his attention to Kate. "Why don’t you play us something tonight?" He offered her his guitar with both hands. Surprised by the gesture, Kate shook her head bashfully. "Oh c’mon, cariño, don’t be shy! Arthur told me you used to play."
Kate shot Arthur a teasing glance, and he held up his hands defensively. "Alright, I’ll give it a go," she caved.
As Kate tuned the wooden instrument to her liking, she caught sight of a familiar face entering camp—Micah. Arthur noticed him too and started to rise, but Kate gestured for him to stay put. "If you do all the talkin’ for me, Morgan, I’m gonna forget how to talk," she said with a reassuring grin. She slipped a small bone knife from her satchel, concealing it from the others. "Be right back," she said as she got up to intercept Micah before he could find Dutch.
With purposeful steps, Kate approached Micah. Threatening him in front of the entire camp wouldn’t work, and brute force had already been attempted—she needed a new approach.
"Micah!" Kate called out in a bogus friendly tone, drawing the attention of everyone around. She saw the confusion in his eyes, tinged with arrogance. "Well, looks like you’re still here. Guess I should apologize for my aberration," he said, his voice like a hissing snake.
Kate chuckled as she closed the distance between them. "No apology needed, Mr. Bell. It was just a misunderstanding," she said loud enough for the others to hear.
To his surprise, Kate draped her arm over his shoulder in a seemingly affectionate gesture, their heights nearly matching. Before Micah could react, he felt the sharp tip of something against his neck.
"Walk with me," Kate said in a low voice, her grip firm on his neck. She led them away from the camp, speaking directly into his ear, much like he had done to her when she first joined the gang.
"I’m not here to hand out gold stars for your sudden epiphany, Micah. Try me again, and I promise you, I will return the favor tenfold," she spat, the knife pressing dangerously against his jugular. One false move and he would be bleeding out in the dry grass.
Micah chuckled, his demeanor shifting. "Is that an invitation?" he retorted dryly.
Kate brushed off his insinuation with a steely gaze. "I assure you, I've dealt with far scarier men than you. You're nothing but a coward hiding behind your pawns. I've faced men like you, tortured men like you. You relish in others' suffering, but you haven't known suffering yourself. And I won't show you mercy."
With that, she withdrew her hand, flicking it upwards in a swift but gentle motion that left a shallow cut on his chin, drawing blood. "Consider this your one and only warning."
With a dismissive flick of her boot, Kate pivoted on her heel and strode back toward the welcoming glow of the campfire, leaving Micah to nurse his wounded pride. As she moved away, she caught a glimpse of him rubbing his chin thoughtfully, a self-satisfied smirk playing on his lips, ““you and I would make a good team Kate.” She rolled her eyes and continued her walk.
Seating herself beside the crackling flames, Kate casually picked up Javier's guitar, her movements deliberate yet nonchalant. The instrument felt familiar in her hands, providing a comforting distraction from the lingering tension.
Arthur leaned in close, his voice a low murmur against her ear. "How'd it go?" he inquired, his eyes glinting with curiosity.
Kate couldn't help but laugh, her confidence unwavering despite the encounter with Micah. "Oh, you know," she replied with a mischievous glint in her eye, "the usual threats and warnings. I might have mentioned something about plucking his eyeballs out and serving them for dinner... but I was only half serious." She shot Arthur a playful wink before turning her attention to the rest of the gang.
Seated comfortably around the fire, the gang members welcomed Kate's return with warm smiles and eager anticipation. She glanced around at her companions, a sense of camaraderie settling over the group.
"So, what'll it be tonight?" Kate asked, her fingers beginning to pluck at the guitar strings.
As the flames danced and shadows flickered, memories of her father's cheerful tunes filled Kate's mind. She recalled a particular song he used to sing on balmy summer evenings, a lighthearted melody that brought joy even after the toughest of days. Adjusting her grip on the guitar, Kate launched into the familiar tune, her voice carrying over the crackling fire with a warmth that echoed the affection she felt for her makeshift family.
I dream in the morning, that she brings me water,
And I dream in the evening that she brings me wine.
Just a poor man’s daughter, from Puerto Peñasco.
South of the border, in old Mexico.
There’s a great hot desert, south of Mexicali.
And if you dont got water, you’d better not go.
Tequila won’t get you across that desert,
To Evangelina, in old Mexico.
The fire I feel for the woman I love, is drivin’ me insane.
Knowing she’s waitin’, and I can’t get there.
God only knows that I wracked my brain, to try to find a way,
To reach that woman, in old Mexico.
Evangelina, I miss you so.

Flyboys and Flirting
I had a chat with @shoshiwrites earlier this week after seeing this photo of Callum Turner in a turtleneck (thanks @hogans-heroes for doing God's work.) I blame her entirely for my Bucky Egan obsession. Like Ellen, I am not one to like the bad boys, but there is something about him and his character development during Masters of the Air that got to me. I tagged the photo with something like Chuck wouldn't mind Ellen taking of her sunglasses to check Bucky out, and Shoshi said no one deserves to look that good in a turtleneck. Based on our chat, here's a little fun one-off I wrote about Colonel Egan stopping by the tobacco store.
San Francisco
October 1957
Afternoons were usually quiet in the shop, a good chance to catch up on pesky tasks like organizing receipts for the accountant. He called Chuck last week, and Ellen saw the headache start behind Chuck’s eyes. Chuck hated anything to do with taxes.
She decided to get a babysitter for Friday and come into the shop for the day. They’d get everything sorted and then go out for dinner, just the two of them, as a reward for a solid day’s work.
They were in the back room, Chuck at the desk and Ellen perched on the counter next to the sink going over August’s purchases, when the bell above the front door rang.
Chuck sighed and rubbed his temple.
“You keep working. I’ll go out front,” she said as she hopped down, giving his shoulder a squeeze before walking out into the store.
Her eyes widened at what she saw. She forced her mouth to remain closed though her jaw wanted to drop to the floor.
A curly-haired man with a mustache, aviators, and a bomber jacket, looking better in a turtleneck than any man had a right to, stood in front of the high-end cigars. He must have heard her footsteps, because he looked her way, took off the sunglasses, and flashed her a smile, a smile she knew he put on for everyone and had nothing to do with her.
This was a Bad Boy.
Ellen never had gone for the Bad Boys. She’d always liked the honor roll students, the boys next door. She suspected Chuck had gone through a Bad Boy stage, but by the time she met him, he owned the store and shaved every morning and parted his hair just so and was always on time to everything.
Every once in a while, she wondered what it would have been like to be with a Bad Boy, the boy who kept her out past curfew or had a motorcycle or had a mustache that normally didn’t do anything for her but made her hot and bothered.
She congratulated herself on wearing a pencil skirt and heels today instead of her usual shirtwaist dress and flats.
“Can I help you?” she asked calmly as she walked toward him.
“Yes, I think you can,” he said slowly, still smiling. “I should introduce myself. Colonel John Egan, United States Air Force.”
“Ellen Grant, co-owner of this store,” she said, shaking his hand. “Cigars, I see. What flavor are you looking for today?”
“Perhaps you can explain my options,” he said.
Despite whatever game they were in the middle of, she wouldn’t play dumb. She went through what made each cigar different, whether they were flavored with sweet Mexican vanilla or spicy Indian pepper, how each one was rolled slightly differently and had different shapes and filters, affecting their taste.
“Which one is calling you? Sweet or spicy?” she asked coyly, barely believing those words came out of her mouth.
“A little bit of both, I would say.” He lifted his eyebrows just a bit. “Let’s take a box of each.”
They walked over to the counter.
“I just flew into Hamilton Air Force Base last night for meetings. I’m sure my colleagues will enjoy these tonight,” he said.
“I’m sure they will,” Ellen agreed. “Any cigarettes? Luckies or Chesterfields?”
He looked at her quizzically. “Luckies. How did you know?”
She laughed. “It’s my business. But for most officers, it’s one or the other.” She rang up two packs.
They made small talk for a few minutes, about the store and his Pentagon desk job, but mostly about flying.
“You seem to know a lot about planes,” he said. He looked down at her finger, the one with the diamond ring on it. “Is your … co-owner a pilot?”
“Well, he was in planes, but he didn’t fly them. A paratrooper,” she explained.
He looked impressed. “The 82nd?” he asked.
“No!” Ellen almost shouted. “The 101st.”
“Sorry,” John apologized.
“You should be. Those guys in the 82nd were a bunch of amateurs.” She grinned as she handed him the bag.
“Well,” he said, a little deflated at the prospect of leaving, “This has been a delight. Thank you, Mrs. Grant.”
And with that, the spell was over.
“Likewise, Colonel Egan. Enjoy your cigars and the rest of your trip.”
He smiled, nodded, and walked out the door without a second glance.
Ellen turned around to walk into the back room when she saw Chuck, leaning against the wall, arms folded on his chest with an amused look on his face.
“What?” she innocently asked as she walked past him.
“You were flirting with that flyboy,” Chuck pointed out.
“I was not!” Ellen could barely keep a straight face.
Chuck couldn’t, and he laughed out loud. “I heard the whole thing. God, it’s so predictable. All it takes is a pair of fancy sunglasses and a leather jacket and all the girls fall for it.” He shook his head. “Here I was thinking my wife would be better than that.”
“Oh,” she said, closing the gap between them and putting her hands on his shoulders. “Are you jealous?”
“Of that guy?” he asked incredulously. “Please.”
Ellen tilted her head.
“I’m not jealous, but nobody should look that good in a turtleneck,” he conceded.
She playfully hit him on the arm. “That’s what I thought!” she said.
“I’m not jealous,” he said again, grabbing her by her hips. “I’m the one who gets to do taxes with you and go out to dinner with you and go home with you,” He gave her a slow, sultry kiss. “When is the babysitter off duty?” he asked
“Nine o’clock. The kids should be asleep,” she sighed as he found the spot on her collarbone that she liked.
“I hope so.” His hands left her hips and roamed lower. “No, I’m not jealous of that guy who is going to be smoking cigars with the brass tonight while I get to be with you.”
“You know, you can be bad, when you want to be,” Ellen remarked.
“Very bad,” he agreed.
Ellen didn’t want a bad boy. She didn’t want a hotshot pilot with a mustache. But she liked knowing her clean cut, responsible husband who didn’t own a turtleneck could be bad if he wanted to be. That was enough for her.

Love to Hate and Hate to Love, Chapter 1 (River Cartwright x OC)
Summary: so far Olivia's time at The Park had been relatively uneventful, despite working for a Service Legend. However, when her boss manages to piss off Lady Di she's forced to cooperate with the Slow Horses. And only one team is only going to get out of this alive.
Author's note: my first of my Slow Horses OC fics (and first OC fic in general...). Title might change though
Slow Horses tag list: @cillmequick
Everything tag list: @greenrevolutionary, @byebyebreezywrites spngingerbread21,  @layazul,  @lov3vivian, @simonsbluee
Olivia tapped her pen on her desk and she glanced down at the paper in front of her. Her colleagues had seemingly abandoned their work for the meantime in favour of focusing on the message.
“Remind me,” she said, “why are we doing this, oh, how did Fitz describe it again?”
“Dealing with the fuck ups,” grunted Kara, “chuck that over.”
“Why?”
“I want to see if there’s a message in it.”
“Why?”
“You’re still new here Olive. When you’ve been here as long as we have you learn to pick things up.”
“Olive,” Olivia muttered as she folded the paper into an aeroplane, “never going to live that down am I?”
“Nope,” said Laura as she relaxed back in her chair, “you aren’t. Besides, it suits you!”
Olivia threw her a glare but chose not to snap back. She chucked the plane over to Kara who read it in silence. She sighed and put it down heavily.
“Nothing,” she said as she ran a hand through her straight black hair, “that’s disappointing.”
“You were expecting something?” Asked Olivia
“Maybe a little something,” Kara admitted, “then again Fitz is a bit cagey about his Cold War days. Especially when it comes to his old colleagues. You can’t really blame me for being suspicious.”
“And even more when it comes to Jackson Lamb,” said Warren, “heard they almost came to blows more than once.”
“Definitely,” said Laura, “you must’ve heard of Jackson Lamb right Olive. Despite still being a bit green.”
Olivia rolled her eyes and swatted Laura’s hand as she ruffled her hair. She had only been in The Service for six months but it was hard not to have heard of Service legends like Jackson Lamb or the infamous Slow Horses. Even her boss, Max ‘Fitz’ Fitzgerald was a Service legend in his own right and you don’t become one of those without doing some shady shit.
"So why are we involved?" she asked
"Because Lady Di thinks she's being funny and she’s also punishing me."
Olivia, who was the only one with her back to the door, jumped at the sound of Fitz’s voice. Fitz just gave her a bright smile and clapped a hand on her shoulder. For someone so short he was a lot stronger than he looked. He was only five foot five and yet his presence always commanded a room's attention.
“And you are coming with me.” He said
“Why me?” Asked Olivia
“Because Lamb’s bringing someone with him and I want you to distract him.”
“Fitz! I thought you said that honey traps weren’t your style.”
“Nothing like that. I want you to piss off River Cartwright.”
*
Cartwright, Cartwright, Cartwright.
Another name you couldn’t go five minutes in The Service without hearing. The grandson was just as famous as the grandfather although for completely different reasons. Actually, famous was the wrong word. Infamous was definitely more like it. Olivia bit her lip to avoid ranting to Fitz. He had already had enough of hearing about it in the office.
“Remember what I said?” Said Fitz, “level head.”
“But distract him,” Olivia said through gritted teeth, “I know. Trust me, I know. I have the perfect distraction.”
The only thing keeping Cartwright in The Service (if Slough House could be called that) was his grandfather. That pissed Olivia off. Anyone else would’ve been cast out but no. Precious little River Cartwright still had a job. Fuck, she thought she had left the nepo babies behind at university.
“We’re here.”
Olivia was dragged out of her thoughts as Fitz spoke. She looked up at the pub and wrinkled her nose. It looked like the type of dives she would’ve gone to as a struggling student. Flaking paint, cracked windows and a general air of unkemptness oozed from it.
“It’s a shithole.” She said
“I know but Lamb chose it so it’s not surprising. Ready?”
“Do I have a choice?”
“No.”
Fitz opened the door and gestured for Olivia to go in. Olivia sighed and tried to hold in her grimace as she entered the pub. However, when she walked on the sticky floors she couldn’t help but let out a disgusted noise.
“This your new girl, Fitz? Heard you got a new one. Thought you’d bring someone with a bit more fucking experience.”
“Jackson,” Fitz said grimly, “I’d say good to see you but we’re both too old to bullshit each other. So cut the bullshite and let's just get on with it. I doubt neither of us want to spend too long in each other's company.”
Fitz walked towards the two men in the corner of the pub with you following closely behind. Olivia had to admit, she had been curious about meeting Jackson Lamb (less so River Cartwright) but he wasn’t what she expected. She had been expecting someone like Fitz who was always very well presented and never seen out of a three piece suit. She wasn’t expecting someone who, to put it bluntly, looked like a homeless man and nothing could prepare her for the smell. His companion on the other hand…
“River Cartwright.” He said standing up and offering Olivia his hand
He flashed her a bright smile which he probably thought made him look charming. Fuck, she could just imagine what the others would be saying. Well, at least he had some manners unlike his boss. Oh well, time to ruin it.
“Olivia Moher,” she said taking it, “nice to put a face to the name of the person who crashed Stansted. I saw the video. The Park uses it as training on how not to fuck things up.”
River narrowed his eyes and let go of Olivia’s hand. Lamb let out a snort of amusement.
“Very fucking funny,” he said to Fitz, “I can see why you brought her. Now tell your fucking idiot to piss off.”
Fitz opened his mouth and quickly closed it with a snap. He nodded towards the door and Olivia took a deep breath. Secretly she was glad to get out of the pub.
“As long as you tell your Slow Horse to piss off as well.” He said
“Gladly. Cartwright, fuck off.”
“But-“
“Now!”
Even Olivia flinched at the harsh tone in Lamb’s voice and she was already nearly out of the pub. River practically pushed past her and she grimaced. Well, thís is going to be awkward. Not like she cared that is.
There was a heavy tension in the air. Olivia folded her arms and leant against a wall. She could quite bring herself to care about whether or not she hurt his feelings. Probably not the best idea to piss off someone you're meant to be working with.
“I suppose you think you’re funny.”
Olivia glanced over at River and smirked.
“I’m fucking hilarious.”
“It was a training exercise, you know. And I was set up.”
“And I was only following orders.”
“That’s the oldest excuse in the book.”
“And yours isn’t? I wonder how many agents tried that excuse before being thrown out? At least you had your family name to rely on.”
Olivia gave River a sharp smile and River slowly approached her. She pushed herself off the wall and folded her arms. She looked up and him as he said,
“What’s that meant to mean?”
“Maybe if you spent half a second thinking about it instead of asking questions you’d be able to figure it out for yourself.”
River opened his mouth to snap back but a shoot from inside the pub stopped him. Olivia and River glanced at each other in confusion. The door flung open and a furious Fitz was in the doorway. He glanced between you and snapped,
“What the fuck is this? Sexual tension?”
Both Olivia and River recoiled from each other
“Not fucking likely.” Said Olivia
“Good. Now hurry up. We have to go back to The Park.”
“Already?”
“Yes,” Fitz gave Lamb a disgusted look as he pushed past him, “it’s the only place he can’t get to.”
“I wouldn’t count on that Fitz.” Lamb practically spat the nickname
“Moher, let’s go.”
“Ok. See you around Cuntwright.”
“It’s Cartwright!”
“Yeah but Cuntwright suits you so much better!”
*
“So,” Kara kicked out and wheeled her chair over to Olivia, “what was the infamous Jackson Lamb and River Cartwright like?”
“Yeah, I’ve never seen Fitz that pissed before,” said Laura, “and I’ve been working with him for three years.”
“I’ve been working for him for ten and I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve seen him like that.” said Warren
“Cunts,” Olivia said, “especially Cartwright.”
Warren put down a mug of tea on Olivia’s desk and offered her a pack of biscuits which she gratefully took.
“Well this certainly bodes well,” Warren said, “you annoyed, Fitz pissed. Looks like they both got under your skin. I thought Fitz wanted you to do that to Cartwright, not the other way round.”
“And I did.”
“And it looks like he did the same to you,” said Kara, “say, is he as handsome as people mention? I never had the pleasure of meeting him before his fuck up.”
“His personality ruins it.” Olivia said through a mouthful of digestive
“So he is handsome,” said Kara teasingly, “careful Olive. You might find yourself compromised.”
Olivia wrinkled her nose and shook her head.
“I think I’d rather quit the Service.”
“Don’t let Lady Di hear you say that,” said Fitz, “she might just take you up on that offer.”
“Why?” Olivia asked
“Because she hates me and wants me to suffer.”
“What did you do?” Asked Laura
Fitz sighed and took off his glasses. He cleaned them on his tie before putting them back on. For the first time since Olivia met him, Fitz looked his age. He looked tired and he leant against her desk, stealing the mug of tea that Warren had made her.
“It’s ancient history,” Fitz said at last, “the past is the past and should remain so. However, when dealing with people like Jackson Lamb, the past never remains buried for long. He has an uncanny knack of digging things up at the worst possible time.”
He took a sip of the tea and winced slightly as it scolded his tongue.
“This was back before the wall fell,” he continued, “you four would be too young to remember it-”
“I vaguely remember something on the news,” said Warren, who had just turned forty, “but I was too young to take in the significance of it.”
“Well,” Fitz gave a one shoulder shrug, “I spent a lot of time behind the wall. Doing… off the record things.”
“Off the record?” asked Olivia
She glanced over at Laura and Kara. Laura mimed cutting her throat and Olivia looked over at Fitz in horror. Fitz just grimaced and said,
“What did you expect when you joined The Service? Everything to be sunshine and rainbows?”
“Have you all killed people?” Olivia asked
“Now is not the time for this conversation,” Fitz said, “We need to focus. And I need a fresh cup of tea. This is too weak.”
Fitz shoved the cup at Warren who sighed but ultimately made him a fresh one. Fitz looked at it and nodded.
“Better. You never leave the tea bag in for long enough.”
“Yes I do! The others agree with me.”
Warren turned to look for backup but suddenly everyone was interested in the floor. Even Olivia looked away, uncomfortable at seeing the hurt look on Warren’s face.
“Back to the matter at hand,” Fitz said grimly, “most of the ‘off the record’ was carried out abroad. People we,” Fitz coughed and gave a bitter smile, “found difficult.”
“And did this just happen abroad?” asked Kara, a hint of cynicism in her voice
“Well,” Fitz ran a hand over his face, “most of the time. All the stuff I did was.”
“Most,” Laura paused, “What do you mean by ‘most’.”
“You killed your own people,” said Olivia, “I thought we didn’t do that.”
Fitz shrugged again. His nonchalance about the whole situation was starting to irritate Olivia.
“We don’t.”
“Then what does Lamb have you on?” asked Olivia
“On me? Nothing.”
“So who does he have dirt on?”
“Well there’s nothing concrete,” said Fitz, “but in this game nothing needs to be. All it takes is a rumour and,”
He clicked his fingers and smiled when his team jumped,
“Gone!”
“And this is what Lamb has?” asked Laura, “something that could potentially be damaging?”
“Ladi Di wants us to check it out,” said Fitz, “yes. If it’s enough to get her spooked,” he let out a soft chuckle, “then it’s worth checking out.”
“So why are we working with the Slow Horses?” asked Laura, “they’re Slow Horses. Can we just go in and demand they hand it over?”
“Because they’re led by Jackson Lamb,” said Fitz, “and he’s someone you have to play London and Moscow Rules at the same time.”
“So what does Second Desk want us to do?” asked Olivia
“Second Desk, fuck me,” Fitz said rolling his eyes, “you don’t have to be so fucking polite in here.”
He walked towards the windows of his team's office. Fitz managed to snag one of the few remaining ones that had a view out onto Regent’s Park. For a moment his team had wondered if he had actually heard Olivia.
“Ladi Di wants us to see if he actually has what she thinks he has and get it back. So unfortunately we’re going to play the long game and go along with his pathetic little game. And in the end,”
Fitz turned around and grinned at them.
“I’m going to destroy him.”

Good morning I’m getting back into PPG lately and I can not BELIEVE the lack of Boomercup content. As I’ve said before: if you want content you gotta make it yourself
I present to you headcanons that only this micro fandom will enjoy if anyone’s left/active still at all bc it is. So dead. Dead enough that I’m revealing myself for a ship my followers don’t even care about again. Combining some 2016 canon with the OG bc there are some gems, like Butters being a math genius and how her insecurities were subtly explored more
I’m also considering them like 16 or so here for sake of high school concepts
- they get closer in high school when Boomer’s had enough with being an edgelord and being associated to Him and Mojo so he goes to Butters first since it’s easier to be in the lighter grey area of morality than to try to jump from one extreme to the next (currently have a WIP going on this concept!! “tbmg” tag on my blog or chapter 1)
- he learns a bit of her past with Ace and he’s downright nauseous over what he did to her (“It was years ago. It’s not important now.” “You were five. It doesn’t matter with the whole hero and villain thing—manipulating a child like that is gross. He’s gotta be, what?—10 years older than us?” “Minimum. It’s not like he actually liked me—he just toyed with me.” “That doesn’t make it any better.”)
- Boomer does all the cheesy pet names when they start dating especially bc he knows it bothers her (she likes it a little, not that she’ll ever tell him that)
- Boomer also once started picking up chess or checkers after having enough of his brothers picking on him so he started learning something to be “smart” so he challenged Buttercup to a match assuming she’d be at or around his skill level
- that said, in actuality she started picking it up years ago out of sheer competitiveness with her kind-of-constant sibling feud with Blossom, eventually coming close enough to stump her for a moment or two more often than not just not quite enough to beat her; he learned this the hard way when she beat him so hard at it he sat in stunned silence for 10 minutes trying to figure out what hit him, then demanded to see a match between her and Blossom
- he thinks it’s kind of really funny how much of a sore loser she is and how differently she behaves from when they were kids, so like instead of screaming and yelling and demanding a rematch like when they were young she’d simply flip the table over or chuck the console remote or whatever at the wall and walk away wordlessly to chill out and the suddenness usually makes him laugh really hard once the initial shock wears off
- Butters’ love language is quality time and physical touch, which it takes a few months or so for Boomer to learn when she starts hanging out with him like all the time and play fights him (light punches, kicks his ankle when they’re sitting next to each other, a soft kick to his shin when she scolds him for something, will sneak up behind him to jump on his back just to startle him, etc) and as they become like inseparable the insults are always paired with smirks and shining eyes and so many more excuses for touching and play fighting
- Boomer’s love language is words of affirmation and acts of service which drives Buttercup insane bc she doesn’t know how to handle either of them, words of affirmation are always combated with insults and she’ll dodge them when and where possible bc “how dare he accidentally pick an insecurity of mine to comment on and make me feel like I don’t deserve to downgrade myself like that” so she’ll look away and shoot the insult to not be vulnerable Or something that she does feel good about and be like “duh?????? I know that already” then neither really know what to do from there; acts of service Buttercup will turn into a competition or see as an insult at first as if she can’t do it herself so when they start dating her sisters have to hold her back sometimes to let her bf do something nice for her and she started understanding by then
- Buttercup is the definition of no rizz and it’s so painfully funny for everyone around her
- “Okay, Boomer.” “I hate you.” “No you don’t.” “Yes I do.” “Prove it.” “Are you asking me to fight you?” “Maybe.” = Buttercup, flirting
- as cliché as it is for these two, she does call him Pretty Boy—originally trying to insult him which he never took it as such anyway, then as a nickname/pet name
- Buttercup is very much a morning cuddler and Boomer never wants to let her go when they wake up together
- after 3 months into just their friendship alone there is no longer such a thing as Buttercup’s hoodies and Boomer’s hoodies, it becomes one collection to the point that later on when dating they’d get each other matching hoodies and both would still end up at one place after losing track of who has what
- Brick and Buttercup have the same advanced/honors math class and it drives Blossom insane that her sister and her counterpart are the math geniuses and she’s not; Brick also tries to play wingman for Boomer and Butters after partnering up with her for some project in said math class
- when the other brothers find out Boomer’s trying to change sides and it means having less interaction/association to their dads they also ask Buttercup to “tutor” them and it makes Boomer jealous to no end (she only has eyes for him though)
- he’s always the first person she contacts after a fight with either Butch or Blossom so she can rant and blow up and then, after arguing with Blossom particularly, he’s always the shoulder she cries on and the first hug she looks for
- both have to learn how to communicate openly and set firm boundaries so they both have to ask the other Puffs to help them with it to prevent arguing and Boomer is so much better at it than Buttercup, who will more often than not still get defensive and Boomer has to set that they need to walk away from the situation so they can chill and then talk and she’s always super pouty abt it but still follows through bc she hates fighting with him
I’ll likely add more later Or if anyone else has any to add on please do <3

THIS KINDAAA ENDED UP BECOMING RANT(?) ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF BOTH MAKO AND CHUCK IN MY CHALEIGH INTERPRETATION, AND HOW CAN BOTH THEIR DYNAMICS WITH RALEIGH CAN BE PROPERLY PORTRAYED WITHOUT REPRESENTING A THREAT TO THE OTHER.
ENJOY?
The relationship of Mako and Raleigh in my Chaleigh interpretations is very specific on its dynamic.
You know those stories where the hero has a wife and a brother-in-arms that he would go to hell and war for and spend the rest of his life loving closely, without it meaning he does not love his wife dearly and with all his heart?
That is Mako to Raleigh.
She is the other half of his soul. Mako knows him in a way Chuck can't, not more or less in intensity, just different. The same way Chuck knows Raleigh differently.
Mako knows Raleigh like they were the same. Maybe they are the same, the overlapping in their existence a constant reminder that they are not alone and never would be. It's Yancy-Raleigh-Mako in the spot, three persons so knitted together the universe would had to work hard to separate their essences.
She knows his muscles in battle by heart, his breathing, his mind. If he hided, she'd be the one to find him. If he ever lied feverly sick, her blood would be the one to cure him. She is the one of a kind connection of legends, of myths. The sister, beloved, friend and many other tags, because it feels like she's a million things in one. She is what the Greeks sang about in their hymns and what the knights of the round table were after.
Their bond is so special, it'd be an insult to suggest they can't live separate lives or love others in any way. It'd suggest their bond is fragile and can be threatened or replaced by others, which is not true.
This is when I have to be careful explaining that Chuck is kinda the wife of my exmaple ONLY in the sense of being the romantic love of Raleigh's life. I don't want you to think I'm using the female role as a stereotype of the wife who stays at home waiting for the two warriors to done waging war. When I say that Chuck would wait as the wife, I refer to the tender wait of the heart, the type it's done when the lover is having a nightmare and you have to wait for them to come to their senses or when you wait for someone to always be back at home, always return to you. It's the wait of a lighthouse for a boat, the gestures. It reads "We both have our dark stories and troubled pasts, but you taught me with your example the waiting of lovers and so I'll do for you what you did for me: I'll wait for you to come around".
Chuck knows Raleigh by practice. Instead of learning because they were in each other's heads, Chuck knew him by days and minutes and moments spend together. Painfully and slowly, they agonized to the awkward and worked through the ugly, an exercise in love. For Raleigh it is line building and tending to the Wall in the sense he has to to there and do his job daily to build something new and make sure to repair the old achievements. For Chuck it is like rehabilitation: in order to walk and run and dance and live his life with a smile on his face, he needs to do the same exercises every day, as boring as they can be or even if he thinks is not necessary.
I think the wonderful thing about Mako and Raleigh is that they are like magic (which it's not a quality of the drift but of themselves). We saw each other and we knew us, instant connection. I was waiting for you all my life, even before I knew you existed. It's easy as breathing, second nature, The Movie Type.
With Chuck and Raleigh, it is so human and real it cannot be other thint but love, both pure and raw. Hand-made, their live is the craft that hurts and brings them extreme joy, hard enough to make you cry, mad enough to got you doing things you never thought you would. It's so real and so painfully human that it sounds like a joke. It's life. There's no magic or influence they are under, nothing to put them together, not destiny or big plan or mission. They choose each other. Even if it could be easier with someone else, they do want it like that with each other.
I love the idea of Raleigh representing both of those things to Mako and Chuck. He's the magic for Mako and the mundane for Chuck. I think Mako had enough of the harsh reality of life and she deserves to live like in a movie; that Chuck has enough of being trapped on a narrative and he deserves someone who's capable of bringing him down, show him the blood on his veins runs red, he is not a hero or a martyr but a man, flawed, lovable, real.
Maybe is the aspect side of me, but it is so easy to see. I don't like when writers protrait Chuck like he's just a male object for Raleigh to have sex with or just an object of love. Or when they write Mako as the Boss Bitch TM stereotype or the sidekick or the actual real girlfriend and Chuck's the sidepiece.
Raleigh is better at feelings than that.

Over a Massage?
Rating: Explicit 🔞
Pair: Shingen Takeda x MC
Tags: massage, cowgirl, creampie, cunningulus, blow job, slight shingen route spoiler
Summary: Shingen isn't feeling well, which then MC offers to give him a massage, but it all took a spicy turn..
Shingen wasn't the type to get random fevers. His immune system had always been quite strong despite having chest problems, but there he was, tucked into his futon with MC by his side.
"That should cool you off a bit.." MC said as she placed a cold and damp towel on top of his flushed forehead, wiping off a bead sweat off his face with her thumb
"It must be lucky day since you have been pampering me all day princess" shingen said as he let out a delighted laugh, clasping his hand onto MC's hand that had placed the damp towel moments ago.
She made eye contact with him, tenderly intertwining their fingers
"Who wouldn't?" She paused "It's only natural for me to do so as your lover" she said, lips curving upwards
MC placed her other hand on his cheek, then on his neck, making sure that his fever was under control.
"Your fever doesn't seem to bad, so hopefully you will be alright in a few days" she added, earning a chucke from shingen
"Hah! Im already perfectly fine just by having you here, i could even conquer the whole world-" he boasted, attempting to sit up, which was immidiately interupted as soon as he felt the strain in his back muscles.
"Don't you dare sit up!" She protessed, pushing him back down
"Sorry, sorry, im alright" shingen paused as he positioned himself comfortably "though my muscles are acting up more than i anticipated." He said, as he let out a big sigh.
"Mm..." MC hummed, wondering if she had anything on top her head that could help him.
After a moment of silence, she recall being given some essential oil by Sasuke a while back
"Ah, i know what to do!" MC announced, earning shingen's attention.
She hurried over to the table to find her bag, which then she rummaged through the contents, pulling out a vial.
"I've got some oil that's apparently good for massages" MC said as she sat back down by his side, presenting the vial to him
He carefully took the vial out of her hands, examining the content
"Hmm.. interesting"
"Well, im not going to say no to an exclusive massage from my princess" He said enthustiastically, handing the vial back to her
.
.
Shingen was now laying on his stomach, his kimono down where his hakama was. She sat against his lower body, carefull to not cause any strain on the wrong spots
"Tell me if anything hurts okay?" MC said as she opened the vial, earning a hum of aproval
She poured some oil onto his broad back, smearing it around with her palms. She noticed how the hair on his back stood up the moment her palms made contact with his skin, but thought no more of it.
Shingen's back was fairly sensitive and his fever had elevated that sensitivity. Something as innocent as this was enough to be considered provocative.
She started pushing her fingers against the stiff muscles at different strength, depending on the pressure needed, earning a handfull of satisfied grunts from him.
'Fuck' shingen cursed internally, as he could feel his member start twitching
Every movement her hands did went straight down to his member. He bit his lower lip in anticipation as he felt her hands work on his lower back.
He wanted to feel her around him so badly and honestly, he felt a little silly for getting this worked up over a massage. He was even grunting much more than he'd like to
"Gosh, you are quite vocal." Mc commented "Is my massaging skills that good?"
"Well mmh.. of course.." he answered, "Can i turn around? Something else needs attention..." he said, obviously having other intentions in mind
"Hm? If that's what you want" she said, stopping her movements
she stood up, straddling shingen's torso in between her legs, allowing room for him to turn around. She plopped down back softly onto his lower body. She wiggled herself comfortably in place, eyebrows cocking as she felt something out of place
"Give me a second, something feels hard-"
That's when it sunk in
It should have clicked in when she noticed him being quite vocal. She should have realized that it was merely a sneaky excuse from him.
She made eye contact with him, pretending to look shocked, but there he was, smirking, desire in his grey orbs.
"Really? Over a massage?" She questioned as she giggled, which then shingen slid one of his hands under her kimono, giving her thigh a soft yet needy squeeze.
"Anything you do is enough to send me over the edge and you know that princess.." He said with a husky voice
"Mmm.." she hummed
Seeing him this worked up was enough to cause her to tingle with desire
"You wouldn't mind would you? He questioned suggestively.
"Nope.. Not in the slightest" she said "tell me.. how csn i make you feel better shingen-sama..?" she said as she grinded herself gently against his clothed bulge earning a grunt from him, then he moved his hand onto her butt, giving it a squeeze
“Turn around, pussy on my face.” He commanded “While i do so, make sure you have my cock in your mouth.” He added.
MC gladly complied, though no matter how many times they did it, she always had found this position quite embarrassing. She sheepishly lifted her kimono for her to turn around. Shingen knew how embarrased this position usually made her, which is why he used both strong arms to pull her rear towards his face, causing her to yelp.
He shifted the material of her kimono along with her underwear, revealing her damp core puckering with her juices.
“T-this is embarrassing.. ” She protessed as her hands fumbled throigh his clothing, pulling out his throbbing cock out of his hakama. His member was leaking out precum, and it twitched with excitement as soon as her hands made contact with it
Shingen scoffed
“Heh! You won’t be saying that as soon as i start eating you-nnn..” shingen attempted to say but was silenced as soon as soon as she abrubtly took his whole length down her throat.
“..i was only joking” shingen said as he exhaled, enjoying the sensation.
He began working on her pussy by giving her clit a lick, before wrapping his lips around the bundle of nerves. After hearing her moaning on his cock, he plunged a finger before adding an additional finger into her tight hole, scissoring them, ensuring that it was hitting her favorite spots.
“Ah.. right there” she moaned out blissfully, taking his length out of her throat. She proceeded to give his tip a handful of licks, working her hands on the base of his length.
Shingen closed his eyes for a brief moment feeling the sweet sensation of her tongue on his throbbing member. Because of how sensitive he was due to the fever, he realised that he wouldn’t last any longer if she continued. Giving her core one last lick he signalled MC to move
“That’s good enough.” He stated “Now turn around dear” he instructed
MC turned around as instructed, now sitting near his crotch, throbbing length brushing against her wet core.
“what do you want me to do..?” She questioned with anticipation, grinding her bare core against him
“Now then..” he trailed off , placing his hands on her hips “you won’t mind taking me in one go, would ya? Hm?” Shingen asked, which sounded more like a command.
“mm.. i don't know” She teased, rubbing herself up and down his impatient length, denying entrance whenever his tip came in contact with her entrance
"Do i mind- nghh!!?" She attempted to speak, but was interuppted when shingen used both hands to push her down onto his cock in one go.
"Haah.. shit" he cursed feeling her warmth around his cock
"No princess, the answer is you do not mind." shingen stated, which was very much true
"Obviously..ngh.." she retorted in between moans
The way his thick length slid in into her in one go was enough to almost send her over the edge. His member felt hotter than usual, and it was stretching her in the best way possible, hitting her sensitive spots.
She bounced herself slowly to begin with, feeling his calloused hands grip stronger onto her hips, a string of moans and grunts spilling out of their lips
She was going slow on purpose, savoring his the way his cock glided in and out of her, his tip kissing her cervix whenever she took him down to the base. She was also trying her best to not lose control with the speed as she is fully aware of shingen's condition.
"Mmh.. you know you can go much rougher on me" shingen said in between grunts "unless you want me to flip you over and.. ngh.. fuck you into the futon?"
"I can't ngh.. you're unwell" she moaned out
"Two options princess” The man said as he purposely thrusted up causing her to choke out a moan
“Either you ride me or i’ll flip you over and pound you.”
MC looked at him with lust filled eyes as if challenging his statement
"Oh?"
She bounced herself faster than before. Shingen’s eyes widen slightly, not expecting her to assert her dominance. He was quite impressed.
“Don’t complain after” she moaned out
Every time her core met the base of his member, she could feel the pleasure jolt through her body from head to toe. She had set a fast and rough pace which made her kimono slip off her shoulders, her breasts spilling out of her clothing. She could hear his breath hitch at the sight, his cock jolting with excitement.
To spice this all up he used one of his thumbs to rub against her clit that's been begging for attention for the past few minutes
Shingen closed his eyes, letting the pleasure take over him. Her insides wrapped around his length perfectly, not letting him go for a moment.
Her pace was starting to get sloppy which he took as an indicator to take some control, gripping her hips with his strong hands, bouncing her up and down his length. He knew she was close and he himself was not far off. To top it all up, he bucked his hips up roughly, his tip hitting her sensitive spots sending her over the edge
"So rough..!" She breathed out as she came undone with his cock roughly pounding into her.
Just like that, her core clamped tightly onto his member, milking every drop of cum he had to offer. He thrusted into her roughly making sure to stuff every drop into her womb until he came down from his high.
.
.
Long story short, his fever did get better but he can't say the same about his muscles, and everyone kept making comments about how he looks like an old man when he kept crutching his hand against his back

I love the Sugar Mommies AU so much. Just want to start with that because it’s really good.
I just finished reading and I am 89% certain Nat, Carol, and Wanda discussed Y/N on their way home after dropping her off. I don’t know what exactly their discussion would entail; maybe their thoughts on her personality and/or looks, if they had a good time, things they noticed, maybe they liked her style, did Nat intentionally “accidentally” mention the thong as a small side comment and maybe laugh with Carol as they tease Wanda about it until she possibly starts picturing Y/N in different thongs and getting *ahem* excited (not specific for any reasons); or maybe they just listened to some music. Who knows?
please? 😁
💋 💋 💋 💋
HI GUYS! Let me know if you got tagged - hope this works! Love ya xox
Ask and you shall receive! Hope this is okay for you💋 Sorry it took so long to post! ❤️
The three women watch as you awkwardly run from their car and back to MJ; who in turn is staring quite blatantly at the car in a way that Natasha can only describe as sheer disbelief. She offers MJ a little wave, waggling her fingers quickly in the way that Wanda loves; and the red head can’t help the smirk as she can see MJ’s eyes widen, even from where she is currently sat.
“God, even her run is cute!” Wanda groans from the back of the car, her nose practically pressed against the window. “Look at those little leggies go.”
“I’m not looking at her legs, bunny.” Carol mutters before mimicking Natasha and offering MJ a small wave.
Your best friend all but tackles you the second you’re close enough and before they know it, you’re both vanishing behind the apartment blocks door in a tangle of limbs and giggles. You manage to chuck one last glance at the car before you’re taken away.
Wanda drags her face from the window and shifts into the middle seat as Natasha moves the car into drive and drives away from the kerb. The car is silent, each woman in their heads as they processed the events of the night. Wanda has a real hard time resisting the urge to grab her phone. Not that either of the two in front of her could stop her. Natasha was busy driving the car and Carol; after a quick glance to check the blonde, is far too busy staring out of her window to even notice Wanda.
What’s one cheeky text, just to make sure MJ hasn’t killed you with excitement. Wanda is only looking out for you, doing her part as a good citizen to ensure you’re safe and well, alive.
Her phone screen seems to light up the car like a beacon and Wanda is quick to dim the brightness; heart hammering in her chest despite her doing absolutely nothing wrong.
Her thumb hovers over your name and she’s a literal second from typing out a quick message when Carol speaks up.
“What are you doing, bunny?”
“Facebook!”
“What?”
“Nothing. Nothing.”
“What are you up to back there?”
“Nothing. I was just scrolling through Facebook. Nothing at all.”
“You’re saying nothing a lot there, bunny. Sure you’re not up to something?” Natasha asks, glancing back at Wanda through the rear view mirror.
“You sound very suspicious…” Carol turns in her chair to look at the younger woman, who quickly locks her phone in an aid to keep her secret. “You weren’t going to text a certain person…now were you?”
“…no…”
“Wanda.”
“…I don’t understand your question?”
“Wanda.”
She lets out a defeated sigh. “I was gonna text Y/N.”
“I knew it!” Carol unbuckles her seatbelt. “Pretty sure this is either gonna be illegal or frowned upon but thank God for tinted windows, eh?”
“What -”
The blonde moves so fast that the rest of Wanda’s sentence gets cut off; one second she’s sitting in her passenger seat and the next she’s squeezing through the gap of both chairs to grab Wanda, pinning her effortlessly down on the back seats of the car.
Natasha barley swerves, although she is very interested in what’s happening behind her.
“Really? Now?”
Carol looks up, a smirk on her face as Wanda giggles under her.
“Keep your eyes on the road, Romanoff.”
“Why do I feel like I’m the one getting punished for bunny’s behaviour?” The red head grumbles.
“We agreed we would message her tomorrow, Wands.”
The other woman huffs, wriggling under Carol’s body.
“I know. But what if MJ killed her? Huh? And her only escape was me texting her…?”
“That’s being a bit dramatic, bun.”
“I know. But I could be right; did you see the speed MJ grabbed her? Poor girl probably has whiplash!”
That earns a couple of laughs.
“How about,” Carol says, dipping her head into the crook of Wanda’s shoulder, “we send her a goodnight message later. All of us.”
Wanda’s eyes light up.
“Really?”
“Yes.”
“Is that okay with you, Natty?”
“It is. Only as long as you don’t try to text her again beforehand.”
“Deal.” Wanda replies quickly. “So...are we keeping her...?”
Carol turns to looks at the other woman while Natasha glances at her with a raised eyebrow.
“Taking a shine to her, have we bunny?” Natasha asks.
Wanda shrugs, letting out a quiet moan when Carol starts to lick and nip at her shoulder.
“Maybe. What did you two think? I think she’s perfect.”
“She did fit into our dynamic pretty well, didn’t she Nat?”
The red head glances at them from the rearview mirror again as she brings the car to a stop before a red light.
“She’s cute. Little shy...but that’s nothing we can’t sort out.”
“Damn straight.” Carol replies.
“I mean...we need to do a few more meet ups...” Natasha says, and quickly carries on speaking before an offended Wanda can interrupt her. “...but! It’s looking pretty promising. Especially if bunny is this smitten with her.”
“Yeah I am.”
Carol’s hands sneak up Wanda’s shirt.
“Just as smitten as you was when you first met...us...?”
“...maybe...” Wanda giggles.
“What was the first thing you noticed when you saw her?” Carol asks, body tensing and hand lashing out to catch both herself and Wanda from falling off the seats, when Natasha broke a little too sharply.
“Sorry, sorry,” Natasha says, “you should be wearing your seatbelts though…”
Flipping her off, Carol encourages Wanda to continue.
“Cliché but her eyes.”
“I thought she had a pretty cute nose.”
“You spent that entire date staring at her nose?” Natasha asks incredulously.
“Where were you staring, daddy?”
“Her amazing ass obviously.”
“God you’re such a guy.” Carol laughs.
“Her ass did look pretty damn good.” Wanda agrees.
“Her thong was pretty hot too.” Natasha is looking directly at Wanda when she says this, eyes sparkling. “Oops, I didn’t mean to tell you that.”
“You what?”
“You heard me, baby girl.”
Wanda looks at Carol, who in turn just shrugs.
“No clue what she’s on about.”
“Did Daddy forget to tell you? Our little darling dropped her thong as we came into the shop and yours truly picked it up before anyone else saw it.”
“S-she dropped a…a thong?” Wanda can only stare in utter disbelief at Natasha.
“She did. It was hot pink too.”
Wanda bites her finger as her eyes glaze over.
“You okay there, detka?” Natasha asks with a smirk.
“I think she’s imagining Y/N wearing said thong.” Carol says, with a grin to match Natasha’s.
“So what if I am?”
“Do you like the thought of Y/N wearing just a thong?” Carol murmurs, tapping Wanda’s nose. “What about if we got a matching bra too?”
“I think my brain just stopped working.” Wanda replies quickly. “We could get her some suspenders and a garter too...”
“And a collar with a leash maybe...”
“Oh we’d match!” Wanda’s eyes glisten. “That would be so cute!”
“Could get her one with her initial on it, like you do, bunny.” Natasha says.
“Oh! Can we Carol, can we?!”
“We’ll see, bun. We’ll see.”
Carol suddenly pulls the younger woman’s lips up to her own and sucks Wanda’s tongue into her mouth. Carol’s hands return to Wanda’s chest with vigour; groping at her chest as she draws all the air from her lungs.
“When we get home,” Carol kisses down Wanda’s jaw and latches onto her neck before sucking. She pulls away to continue speaking, “you go straight to our bedroom, strip and put on your collar; understand?”
“Y-yes, captain.”
“Good girl.” Carol reclaims Wanda’s lips with her own before moving back down and settling at her tits. Casting a glance at Natasha and smirking, Carol slowly lifts Wanda’s shirt up. She feasts on her spoils.
There’s a whine from the front seat.
“C’mon guys, do you have to do this now?”
Carol, with her lips wrapped firmly around Wanda’s right nipple, glances at Natasha who is watching the two of them very intently.
“Yes we do.” She smiles. “Maybe now we’ll get home quicker.”
“I’m not getting another ticket, Carol.”
“Suit yourself. We’ll just be busy back here then...”
A week later, Natasha gets a speeding ticket in the mail.
It was totally worth it.

hiya!!! just wanted to say i LOVED your kas!steve post so much it makes me squeal with delight no joke
any chance you can drop some details about steve's new appearance/abilities 👀 because i would love to hear more!!! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*.✧
Hi thank you SO much!!! <3 I have so many THOUGHTS about Kas!Steve constantly and am always keen to talk about it! (if I defeat my crippling executive dysfunction issues long enough to post more I can tag you in it if you'd like 👀👀)
Kas!Steve's whole deal is that Vecna revived him to act as his "ultimate weapon", particularly against the bunch of meddling kids who already interfered with his plans once. He's not worried about the government or any of the scientists ruining his plans, he's worried about Eleven and her allies. He knows damn well the Party & co are going to have a much harder time defeating one of their own, or at least something that looks like one of their own, than an assortment of inhuman beasts. Plus, having a second in command who is intelligent is an asset to Vecna (and Steve, while not academically gifted, is really good at tactics/strategical thinking).
This got wayyyyy longer than I thought it would so I'm chucking this under a readmore, I have "can't shut the fuck up" disease and it's terminal.
BASICALLY I wanted Kas!Steve to be at least a little different from the classic fandom depictions of Kas!Eddie, just for flavour - so to start with Steve absolutely Does Not have wings. Regarding his appearance, the main stuff is:
prehensile, multiple tails like the demobats do - Steve has 5 tails, with one (the central one) being slightly longer and thicker than the rest while the rest sort of loosely weave together around it at rest. They can be controlled independently, but it's quite difficult to do so and Steve is absolutely not at that point yet. It's like - if he went "I want to grab that object with my tails" they would all wrap around it to grab it securely like a human hand would, but it would take a looooooot of practice and experience with this new form to go "I want to hold a different object in each tail at the same time" (and even then it'd be tricky as fuck/take a lot of concentration).
FANGS. So all of Steve's teeth are now sharper and pointed, like the democreatures tend to have, but in addition to that boy's got MAD fangs. His top canines actually jut out from under his top lip and visibly dig into his bottom one, Steve has to relearn how to hold his face when his mouth is shut to hide them. His bottom canines are also larger and pointier than the rest of his teeth, but less egregiously than his top ones. Plus he has claws too, where his finger/toenails have essentially expanded and hardened so instead of just being a "cap" on top of the digit, his fingers and toes blend from skin to keratin and end in a hardened, sharp point. It is actually possibly to file/trim them without hurting him though, with appropriate tools (since they're harder than human nails).
Steve's eyes have vertical pupils now (like cats), since he's got what essentially amounts to DnD darkvision. They also glow gold when Steve's craving blood. Or craving... other things. (I'm talking about being horny his eyes glow gold when he's horny. In Steve's defense, bloodlust and regular lust are kinda intertwined when you're a vampire.)
His skin is also just that bit tougher than it used to be, Steve no longer gets scrapes or cuts as easily.
He does still eat food in addition to blood, he's just carnivorous now - lots of meat (can be cooked but tbh raw is better) and animals products like eggs and dairy. He doesn't digest plant products properly anymore and will throw up if he eats too much of it. As for human blood... he doesn't NEED it to survive, but he craves it, and it gives him a boost to his abilities when he's drank some recently (in that what I've described is him at Full Power™, and if it's been a while since he's had blood it's progressively harder and harder to do those same things). He also just Looks Sick if it's been a whie since he's drank blood. Also when he's out of the Upside Down (especially if, say, he was no longer connected to the hivemind) if he doesn't drink human blood on a regular basis he WILL go feral and revert to a much more animalistic state of mind.
Now the fun stuff, aka his powers:
Superhuman strength, pretty much no one would be able to beat him in a one-on-one, hand-to-hand fight. Bring a weapon, ideally a gun. He also has better stamina than a regular human would and tires much less easily.
Heightened senses - he can see in the dark better than humans ever could and his sense of smell is heightened (particularly smelling blood, human blood in particular). His hearing is actually not that much better than a normal human's, but very high pitched or "artificial" sounding noises grate on him in a way they never used to (e.g. Curse The Fucking Fluorescent Lightbulb Buzz).
He's connected to the hivemind like all UD creatures are, but unfortunately that means he's connected to Vecna. Vecna has a very strong connection to him, given that it was through Vecna's powers that he was revived, and he can plunge Steve into a hallucination whenever he pleases just like with the curse victims. This is how he communicates Steve over long distances.
Steve also has vampiric thrall/mind control abilities, but he can only really pull it off when he's freshly loaded up on blood. It also works best for simple instructions - he could exert simple, one-word-command type control over almost anyone, but complicated multi-step instructions or more abstract things (e.g. being encouraged to forget about something or instructed to not answer certain questions going forwards, indefinitely) would only really work on someone Steve has an extended, close relationship with. It works through eye contact - the gold eye glow also happens when Steve's using these abilities. But shhhhhh I'm sure Eddie's going to be totally fine, everything is chill he'll be fiiiiine ;)
God this is WAY LONGER THAN I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE I'M SO SORRY. I hope you enjoy the lore drop!! <3 Let me know if there's anything else you want to know about because I could talk about this AU all day, I'm obsessed with it
