my love. my babe. my darling. why did you send me three i am suffocating. of course, I can't resist talking about the resident catboy so I suppose we'll start with Matias.

🍁 Where does your OC go when they need to have some time to themself? Would they ever have their own “comfort corner” filled with all the things they like? Do they have a favourite spot outside that feels like its theirs and theirs alone?

When his skin starts crawling or tension builds between his leaves, he'll wander the less-used corridors of the Priory and lurk in the darker rooms, possibly curled up at the top of a stack of crates or atop a high bookshelf. While he doesn't have a single designated cool-down corner, there are a few haunts he frequents more than others, and that's where you're most likely to find stolen trinkets. It's very chilly outside the priory and not his ideal climate, so the closest thing that comes to that are the hot springs.

💐 How does your OC handle being unwell or forced to rest in bed? Who cares for them and in what ways? Does your OC enjoy being doted on or are they a terrible patient? Reversed: is your OC good at taking care of others who are ill or in need?

hates it hates it hates it. would rather sulk somewhere out of sight and far from pity. He'll accept some minor care and sympathy from lyn but even then he's touchy. Likewise he's pretty bad at taking care of others, though if he likes you enough he'll still try. Mostly awkwardly bringing tea or tissues or more or less blankets without saying anything or acknowledging the act. Listening to you complain and just nodding along a little. It can come off as resentful if you don't know him, but if you do, you'll recognise that he's trying to make a genuine effort.

🌳 What is your OC’s favourite way to relax after a stressful day? Do they have a favourite book to curl up with? A hobby? Or do they have a nice bubble bath and have an early night to bed?

If he's not sulking it off somewhere out of sight, he enjoys defusing by cuddling with lyn, listening to him talk about his day, interrupting him with little kisses sometimes. Otherwise, he might prowl the grounds looking for little things to pocket - a forgotten pen, a beautifully crafted horn button from an unattended coat, snacks from the kitchen still in the process of plating, a research journal, this and that. The more important things will probably find their way back to the original owners eventually, but it will be an inconvenience that he doesn't really consider or care about in the moment. The thrill of the steal and satisfaction of holding something new and interesting outweighs any guilt.

🌲 How deeply does your OC feel? Are they typically empathetic or do they have a hard time connecting with others in this way? What are they like when offering support and comfort to someone they care for?

This is kind of hard! He does feel, he's very emotional in the way where it wells up in your chest until you feel you might burst, good or bad. Despite that, he bottles it up and is really bad at expressing how he feels to others, so he can come off as rude or uncaring. He struggles to read other people and doesn't always understand why they're upset, but he isn't (usually) intentionally antagonistic. Sometimes when he tries to be sympathetic it can come off as sarcastic or merely obligatory, but it doesn't mean he doesn't care.

A new creature i brainstormed with Black Star on discord with!

It is the piperat, a bio-engineered creature created to clean pipes (its existence is hinted in a lore pearl). Piperats are the shared ancestor of both lantern mice and slugcats.

Notes about piperats:

1 to 1.5 feet long; compare this to slugcats, who are 3 feet tall on average.

Have thinner tails, larger eyes, and shorter ears than slugcats do.

Usually quadrupedal. Will stand up on two legs in order to reach objects or get a better view of their surroundings.

Come in various pastel colors like lantern mice do.

Hairless; they are slimy like slugs (and many slugcats) are.

About as smart as real-life rats. They are fairly social and can be taught tricks.

Only a few isolated populations of piperats still exist.

The ancestors of lantern mice and slugcats split off a very long time ago. The two species are about as closely related as foxes and wolves, and cannot hybridize.

Slugcats lost their glow, became bipedal, and became highly intelligent. Lantern mice have very similar behavior to piperats, although they are now larger, have prehensile tails, and have an intense glow.

Spidercats and leafcats (leafcats belong to Black Star) are close relatives of slugcats.

“Kacchan, this could be serious! I need to make you an antidote,” it explained, insistent and matter-of-factual. “Now open up and give me some of your saliva.”

It squirmed its way up his chest again, but Katsuki was having none of it. Every time that squishy face got close, he turned to the other side. The thing squeaked and cheeped in frustration, determined to probe his mouth with its tongue.

Finally, it let out a disappointed sigh, ears shifting down.

“I guess you really won’t let me get a saliva sample, will you?”

Damn right, you stupid slug!

“That’s okay! It doesn’t have to be saliva, I guess.”

Just like that, it was worming its way back down his body, smacking him with its bushy tail in the process.

“Wait, what the fuck do you think you’re doing now?” Katsuki asked.

He had a hollow feeling in the pit of his stomach. With the same dogged persistence that it did everything with, Deku began to burrow into his trousers, squishing and contorting its way beneath the waistband. Its slime body was surprisingly flexible, letting it stretch out and crawl inside without much difficulty. Katsuki wanted to scream, but the most he could let out was a whine.

Leaf cat character? Tell us more!

How did you know this is one of my favorite things to talk about?! Thank you so much for this ask! I hope you don’t regret it.

I’ll try not to infodump too much, but here’s the highlights on leafcat:

Leafcat is also known as Teacat, Kittea, and sometimes just straight up Aiko these days (since over the years she’s just kind of become an avatar for myself, which I’m totally happy with) but she does have a name/story, of sorts.

In settings where she’s a more like a four-legged actual-cat, she’s called Sequoia, and in furry/two-legged settings, she’s called Sorrel. But she’s still fundamentally the same character, though backstory details obviously vary a bit depending on the universe she’s in.

Her appearance is fairly malleable, as she’s a standard calico cat that just often sprouts plant matter– mostly leaves but occasionally horn-and-spine-like branches– from various parts of her body. These leaves shed and tear and fall off quite a bit, but they are constantly regrowing. She has some level of control over what sorts of plant-bits she grows, but for the most part she chooses to grow tea (camellia sinensis) leaves, in tribute to her mentor Sequester (another character that is essentially an animated cat-shaped tea-tree).

She’s very passionate, as you may have guessed, about plants. She’s very knowledgeable about them and places a lot of importance on biodiversity, sustainability, and preservation of endangered plants. She will absolutely talk your ears off if you get her started.

In most settings she’s also a plant-based mage/healer, and she believes it is definitely an important and useful skill and she absolutely wants to help those who need it, but it also stresses her out when she sees others overharvest, exploit the plants and the soil and entire ecosystems for the sake of obtaining the more rare or potent plants. For this reason, she’s pretty quiet about it, sometimes to the point of feeling a little ashamed to be associated with the craft at all. She struggles a little bit with the fact that even though her mentor was incredibly generous, patient and open with her knowledge, she herself feels too wary and distrustful take on an apprentice in good faith.

She was always a huge Plant Nerd, but she actually started out life as a normal cat. Her transformation came about when she attempted some plant magic that was far beyond her capability to handle. She would have been completely claimed by the forest if her mentor hadn’t found, rescued her, and used her own magic to curb the effects of the plant-corruption. It was a lot of training and effort before she could survive without her mentor keeping her on magical life-support, but eventually she was able to figure out how to control the plant-elements of herself.

Since becoming part-plant, the way she metabolizes things is different. Her digestive system is frail and she prefers to gain most of her energy through photosynthesizing with the larger leaves she grows over her back. Most importantly, she needs to stay hydrated and consume trace minerals and vitamins, which she can get from drinking from rivers and streams, but her favorite way is, of course, through sipping a wide variety of teas and infusions.

Most foods will make her sick and she only really eats when cloudy days or damaged leaves prevent her from getting enough energy from the sun. She can generally handle small amounts of fresh fruits and vegetables, raw or lightly steamed. Berries are her favorite.

Generally she keeps to herself, traveling from place to place and living and sleeping wherever there are trees to climb, learning about native plants and doing what she can to help local ecosystems thrive. She doesn’t like to draw attention, but her strange appearance makes it hard to avoid. Some villages that she has befriended over the years revere her as a healer and minor deity, others as a cryptid. She’s timid, but generally happy to help others. If social pressures get to be too much, she moves on to a new area very quickly. She maintains some very loose relationships, but her trust issues prevent her from finding much emotional satisfaction in anything other than her work.

…I could go on, but that was probably way more than you wanted to know. But thank you for giving me this chance to dump all this out there, not to mention inspire me to doodle her a little bit more.

oh going for my throat with one huh lmfao; that IS my brand tho........ty <3 I'll skip the charr, werewolves, n khajiit, and anyone else whose animal qualities are typical to species since I feel that's slightly different and would also make this incredibly long! Since evander's traits are for the most part costuming rather than inherent I'll disqualify him too. Winter's less tief traits are inherited from a satyr parent, so they don't count either.

that'll be rrenne (wolf-adjacent), banni (rabbit), tueggi (bird of prey), stinnt (body modded goat legs + hawk wings), laamb (experimental genetic warping resulting in ovine features), skunk (similar to laamb, but skunk-like and self-inflicted), ram (sheep legs n horns and a weird alien tail), sasha (catlike eyes and shark teeth), matias (clawed feet, horns, and a general catlike vibe)...and I think that's everyone!

🍳 - How well can they cook?

If he can set it up over a fire or in the sun and just leave it for a few hours or days he's perfectly fine, but anything with complicated steps are difficult, since in his mind they'll flip around in order or be randomly omitted. Having a recipe written doesn't help much either. In fairness, he has to keep his wyvern from eating it while he isn't looking, which is harder if there's two bowls. And you really, really don't want a fire wyvern getting into a bowl of flour.

🍪 - How well can they bake?

Calling back to the first point, not very well on his own. If you walked him through it, he'd be fine.

🍽️ - What’s their favorite food?

this man ate fermented mycelia-riddled uncooked boar flesh. at this point, anything novel.

Banni

🍳 - How well can they cook?

so-so, but not horrible. much better with a recipe on hand. Needs the aid of a timer for some things, or to walk out of the kitchen with the spatula or mixing spoon to remember to come back.

🍪 - How well can they bake?

same as above! It's more complicated when you have to make vegan substitutes, though. no two recipes treat applesauce or bananas the same way, for example, and some recipes are really dry because there's an overlap between vegan food bloggers and food bloggers who think any oil, saturated or not, will advance your death date astronomically.

🍽️ - What’s their favorite food?

...kale chips, or a well baked sweetroll of one variety or another.

Tueggi

🍳 - How well can they cook?

She's had a lot of practice, and her kitchen is workable if a little small. She's got a big recipe book and takes it out every time she cooks; even though she probably knows some of them by heart, she refuses to trust memory when she has a reference immediately on hand.

🍪 - How well can they bake?

She's pretty good, but she'd never enter a competition.

🍽️ - What’s their favorite food?

Their name is escaping me right now, but those fried dough balls served in a spiced honey syrup. She's not very good at making them, so they're an especially nice treat.

Stinnt

🍳 - How well can they cook?

He won't win any awards, but it's edible and not unpleasant. He sticks to simple, reliable recipes and flexible things like stews.

🍪 - How well can they bake?

it's miserable and he hates it. If he touches flour it's for gravy, not pastry.

🍽️ - What’s their favorite food?

one time laamb made this really good root vegetable curry and he's ever since wished to have it again, but it used exclusively fresh-harvested herbs and vegetables in a region they haven't since returned to.

Laamb

🍳 - How well can they cook?

She's pretty good! Even before The Incident she had a keen nose that gave her an advantage in spice mixing.

🍪 - How well can they bake?

It's difficult, but she can do it if she sets her mind to it. She's made some very nice brown breads in the past.

Honestly, fresh-from-the-oven bread served with a good hearty soup.

decently! he's good at improvising with what's on hand, but better with a given recipe and its intended ingredients.

he doesn't work with anything too complicated like layered pastries, but LOVES baking bread!

warm, fresh, leavened bread with butter or herbed oil.
