Another year without this beautiful human being who was a hero to many before he even played one. Today is also the birthday of the co-creator of Black Panther (Jack Kirby) and also my Grandpa in an ironic punch to the gut for me personally. (Chadwick Boseman - 11/29/76-08/28/20) ❤️🖤❤️

found family coworkers (definition multiple) of all time [image description under cut]
Comic 1:
First panel, Ingo and Akari are standing together. Someone off-screen asks “oh, is that your dad?”. Akari has an awkward smile and replies “oh, no no. he’s my...” There’s a long pause as she looks at Ingo. He’s leaving it up to her. She finishes, “He’s my coworker... friend... guy.” In smaller font, she continues “yea. that.” Comic 2: A dramatic panel of Volo, looking pissed off, shouting “who are you to interfere?!!” Ingo tugs the brim of his cap lower. The upper half of his face is in shadow, while his eyes stand out. He looks threatening but has his expression is his characteristic neutral-frown, and he says “...I’m her coworker friend guy.”. In the final panel, Machoke is throwing an incredible amount of punches, a reference to Star Platinum from Jojo. Ingo is pointing with one hand, his battle pose. The background text reads, “What does that even mean??” Volo is experiencing off-screen violence.
Comic 3: The comic is titled “Reunion”. In the first panel, Ingo shows off Akari, with a faint smile on his face. She is labelled “best girl (assigned by god)”. He says, “Emmet, this is Akari, my coworker. She’s the reason I was able to return to this station.” In smaller font, Akari comments to herself, “ooh... so this is the man in white.”
In the second panel, in smaller font Ingo notes “I think I remember now...” He says, “Akari, this is Emmet. He's also my coworker.” Coworker is underlined. Emmet is crying in the background, looking confused, conflicted, distressed, and happy. He says, “Brother...?” In the final panel, we see a framed photograph of all three together. Underneath are the words, Employee of the Month. Akari is dressed as a depot agent, and she and Ingo pose with peace signs. Emmet is red faced from crying, but he’s smiling widely. He looks happy.

horror sub-genres • virus horror
virus horror is a sub-genre that defines itself differently than zombie horror. this sub-genre toys with people’s fear of sickness/parasites and the devestating outcome that it could have on society.

Ask Idea! (Any version of these two Links!)
Time being a “Dad” for Legend.
(@thepinklink @hermitdrabbles56 @triforce-of-mischief @servantprincess come enjoy)
The emergency department was fairly abandoned as Time entered. The surgeon made his way directly to the charge nurse station and saw Warriors coordinating some bed assignments to get patients to the floors where they needed to go upon admission. When the charge nurse finally finished his task, he let out a sigh of relief upon noticing Time.
"Your patient's in the 300 block," Warriors said. "Census is finally low enough that I have an actual excuse to kick him out. Please help."
"How many?" Time asked, more out of morbid curiosity than anything.
"This is night eleven."
The surgeon's eyes widened. Eleven? He remembered his residency days when he would work well over a hundred hours in a week and was on the brink of insanity while being expected to work. Eleven shifts... that made for, what, 132 hours?
"Eleven consecutive shifts?" he repeated.
"Yeah," Warriors confirmed tiredly. "It isn't safe, Time. For anyone. I'm not letting management get away with it. Get him out of here."
With that, the conversation was cut off as the phone rang and Warriors had to start dealing with another situation. Time watched him a moment longer and then sighed, heading for the area sectioned off for the 300 rooms.
The emergency department was divided into several "blocks" of rooms, usually separated by acuity. The 100s were the "primary care" rooms, where patients who really didn't have an emergency but had nowhere else to go would be sorted. The 200s were the behavioral health area, secluded from the rest of the ER with doors that were always closed to mute the noise of the rest of the department. The 300s and 400s were the acutely ill while the 500s were the critically ill, and the 600s was the pediatric block.
The 300s wasn't far from the charge nurse station, so it didn't take Time long to reach the open area. The nurse station for each block sat in the center of the room so they could easily see all their patients, alongside the "doc box," where the physicians worked. Off to the left side of the nurse's station was the person in question.
Legend sat in front of a computer, a patient's chart open with an assessment half charted. Legend had his head propped on his right fist, his left hand absentmindedly typing words until the computer autocompleted them and he'd tab to the next box.
"Legend?" Time prompted as he approached him.
The travel nurse perked up slightly, some energy lighting his dull eyes. "Hey. Can I help you? They... they didn't put in a trauma consult for the guy in 12, it's a simple fracture. Right?"
"Nobody put in for a trauma consult," Time assured him, resting his hands on the counter in front of him. Legend looked very small and, for lack of a better word, defeated.
They stared at each other for a moment longer, Legend clearly not processing what was going on, and the nurse eventually settled his eyes back on charting with a noncommittal hum of acknowledgement.
"Legend."
The nurse's eyes gazed back up at the surgeon.
"Warriors changed assignments," Time explained. "Someone is picking up your patients."
"I only have one," Legend remarked confusedly. "Wait, what? Shouldn't I be picking up someone's assignment? Why are you even talking about--what?"
"He told me you had one patient, who is waiting for some paperwork from the physician and then is getting discharged," Time said slowly, gently tapping his fingers on the counter as he waited for Legend to process his words. "Which means you really don't have much of a patient assignment right now."
"Yes...?"
"You're going home, Legend."
Legend blinked. Then he blinked again.
Before he could argue, another nurse slid in beside him, stating exactly what Time had just articulated. Legend stared between the two, baffled.
"Then what am I...?"
"You're. Going. Home." Time repeated, stressing each word.
The travel nurse's coworker cleared her throat with a smile, and Legend hastily gave her report before staring at Time once more.
Then it finally seemed to click.
"What kind of bullsh--"
"Legend."
"Why the hell did that idiot think he could send me home--"
"Legend."
"What, does he think things are going to stay calm just because census has settled? I swear, the instant I leave the hospital the waiting room's gonna flood--"
"Legend!" Time finally said a little louder, making the travel nurse jump at his snappish tone. Then the surgeon settled. "Don't worry about what's happening here. That's Warriors' job. You've been working far too much lately."
"They're short staffed," Legend argued, motioning at the barren nurse's station. "What the hell was I going to do, just let them flounder?"
Time sighed and put a hand on his shoulder. "Your sentiment is admirable and good, Legend, but wearing yourself to the bone isn't going to help, either. You'll burn out and fall apart, and they'll be short staffed all the same."
"You're saying I'm replaceable," Legend grumbled, looking at the ground.
"I'm saying you can't help them if you have nothing left to give," Time corrected him patiently, understanding that the nurse's exhaustion was no doubt going to lead to irritability and false assumptions.
"I have plenty to give," Legend fired back, taking a step away and stumbling. "I'll--"
Here he faltered, scrambling for an argument and unable to find one. Time crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow, making the travel nurse wave at him dismissively with an irritated tch.
"Where are you going?" Time asked as Legend walked away.
"To see if I'm needed elsewhere," was the terse reply.
"Legend," Time warned. "We can do this the easy way or the hard way."
The travel nurse froze, throwing a seething glare in his direction. "What, you think you can boss me around like you do Twilight or Wild? I'm not your kid, and I'm not part of your little war veteran posse either. What difference do I make, shouldn't you be in surgery or something? Pretty sure you have a job you're supposed to be doing."
Time took a steadying breath and walked towards Legend. His silence intimidated the travel nurse far more than his words did, and Legend took a wary step away. "What are you--"
With a swift motion, Time reached forward and slung the travel nurse over his shoulder, Legend squealing in alarm. A curious family member peeked out of one of the rooms, but beyond that Legend's hemming and hawing did little to change the situation.
Time had to admit, he was impressed at the combination of curse words the travel nurse was coming up with, though.
By the time they reached the alcove just outside the staff room for the ED, Legend had settled a little, only occasionally cussing Time out, jumping to different languages when he felt particularly irate.
"You need to clock out."
"Fuck you."
"All right, you can deal with it later."
They reached the entrance to the waiting room, and Time finally paused. "Am I going to have to carry you out of here, or will you walk with me?"
Legend's death grip on Time's shirt eased a little, followed by a defeated sigh. "Fine, dammit, I'll walk with you. Just put me down."
With that settled, Time slowly eased Legend to the ground, watching the nurse stumble a little with a dizzy spell. He steadied him by his shoulders, and Legend hissed, pushing him away.
Time furrowed his brow. "What compels you to think you can singlehandedly save everything and everyone, Legend?"
Legend's glare lost its bite, and he looked away. "It's my job, damn it. I'm a travel nurse, we come in to help departments who don't have enough nurses. This is what people rely on me for."
"Well, I don't know what your other assignments did to abuse you so much that you think eleven shifts is acceptable," Time stated, his words softened by his gentle tone. "But you have support here. We're not letting you burn yourself out like this."
"I'm not burnt out!"
Time stared at him until Legend withered under his gaze. He didn't have to rub salt in the wound. Instead, he just said, "Let's go."
Legend followed him somberly to the exit. The longer they walked, though, the more confused the young man became.
"Wait, my car's in a different deck. Where are we going?"
"I'm driving you home."
"What?" Legend stopped in the middle of the parking deck. "Come on, old man, I can handle driving myself home. Do you trust me that little?"
"You do realize that the level of exhaustion you're at probably makes you as addled as if you were drunk?" Time threw back. "You're coming home with me, Ledge. Someone has to take care of you since you don't seem to know how to take care of yourself."
Surprisingly, this didn't merit another string of curses or a fit. Instead, Legend deflated, suddenly out of energy to argue. Time left him be, willing to give the boy some space since he'd been manhandling him so much already. Instead, he unlocked his car and walked towards it, opening the passenger door. Legend dragged his feet over, sliding in silently and buckling up.
The travel nurse was out like a light before they even left the parking deck.

logh flower symbolism in case you are not sick of it already (with my favorite boys reuenthal & mittermeyer of course)
(as with any other analysis the only reason i'm posting this is because i haven't seen anyone done that before. if somebody else noticed the things i'm about to describe below i apologize)
ok so logh is known for having some flower symbolism in it which sometimes is pointed out outright. the biggest offender: the yellow roses with which mittermeyer proposes to eva as this is supposedly against the custom and yellow roses symbolize friendship or jealousy. oh and also the baldur's orchid or whatever it was called. but wait there's more!
one part of reuenthal's deranged thought train in ep 93 is the flashback where he gives a bouquet of yellow flowers to mittermeyer's wife as an apology for saying something insensitive about never having children. and yeah of course there's the very obvious reading "he gave these flowers to mittermeyer, not to eva". in fact in the book there was no description of eva walking in on their conversation (iirc) so he needn't have brought the flowers in the first place. but what about the flowers themselves? the way ova pictures them makes them pretty much unidentifiable, there is no info on them in the books as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but if we go back almost 40 episodes to ep 58, we can see that when reuenthal visits the mittermeyers, he actually brings the same flowers (once again, for wolfgang's wife)! this is a detail that is very easy to miss when you're watching the ova for the first time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this time the book actually specifies the flowers:
Tumblr media
jonquils, or rather "yellow daffodils" as it was written in japanese, which is pretty much the same thing. okay that checks out, they are drawn rather simplistically but if you try hard enough you can see the resemblance.
now if we check the meaning for jonquils: unrequited love, or "I desire a return of affection". i also checked the meaning in japanese, some sources say daffodils mean "respect" but yellow daffodils specifically mean unrequited love both in western and in japanese tradition (correct me if i'm wrong though, otherwise all this ranting was for nothing). so this leaves us with a few questions:
why would the author do this. why would he specify the flowers esp since whenever he does it he does it for a reason. why would he specify the color of the flowers as well. if reuenthal brought the flowers "out of sheer politeness" i don't think he'd pay much attention to their breed
why would ova turn unspecified flowers in ep 93 into jonquils from ep 58. simply for the sake of continuity? or does this mean that reuenthal keeps bringing the same damned jonquils to mittermeyer basically begging for his attention while mittermeyer is oblivious? in any case. devastating if done on purpose. and if not, i still choose to be mental about it
and yeah i know it would probably make more sense to rant about this chronologically (first ep 58 and then ep 93) but i didn't because i believe more people notice the whole "reuenthal bringing flowers to mittermeyer" shenanigans in ep 93 than the other way around.

So, I keep seeing people expressing how disappointed they are that Filoni is "going with legends!Thrawn," but to me this sentiment makes it clear that they've probably never read past the original three books, or even the Thrawn Trilogy itself.
Let me explain.
The Thrawn Trilogy is only three novels. There was also the duology (Visions of the Future and Specter of the Past); the stand-alone novels Survivor's Quest, Outbound Flight, and Choices of One; the short stories Crisis of Faith, Side Trip, and Command Decision; and a few other non-Zahn novels and a couple video games wherein Thrawn is present if not in a starring role.
In all Zahn publications after the Thrawn Trilogy, we see a character that, aside from the random political/social debuff introduced in 2017, has a personality and morality system that is nearly identical to the one in canon.
It's in legends where you get Thrawn saying "we do not make war on civilians" and "as civilized beings, it is our duty to minimize suffering" (from the short story Crisis of Faith which takes place weeks before Thrawn began his campaign against the New Republic, so any excuse of "oh he got worse as Palpatine's influence deepened" doesn't really hold water).
And just look at the Empire of the Hand. If you want to know what kind of man Thrawn is, look at the organization he himself founded. To summarize, this is what an alien refugee taken in by the Hand had to say about it:
“The Empire that Senior Captain Thrawn is carving into the evil that pervades our worlds is not the Empire you chose to leave. His is an Empire of justice and dignity for all beings. His Empire is one we gladly serve. One we are willing to die for.”
Basically think the group of aliens and Chiss brought together at the end of Lesser Evil, add Imperials, and multiply it by 1,000.
This was in legends. That’s the vision legends!Thrawn had for a more ideal society. Rebels!Thrawn isn’t even true to what was available to Filoni prior to the canon books’ publications.
Now we can argue if Thrawn was as morally bad in the Thrawn Trilogy as he was in Rebels or not (I say short answer: T3!Thrawn’s greatest sin—for which he was killed—was apathy toward suffering in favor of results, Rebels!Thrawn simply enjoys hurting people because he’s a Bad Guy), but even if they DID hold the same fundamental values, they don’t have the same personality. Thrawn in the 90’s trilogy was expressive, he was having fun, he smiled and shrugged and fiddled with things and pet his ysalamiri. He was sassy and sarcastic and dry-humored and irritable. He was charismatic and, dare I say sometimes relatable. Sure he wasn’t a good person but that’s not the issue here. Thrawn had life to him in the Thrawn Trilogy.
In contrast, Thrawn in Rebel’s personality could be summarized as “creepy evil smart guy who likes art.” He’s really nothing more special than every Saturday mastermind cartoon villain out there. He’s bland and dry and lifeless and he’s scary not because of his intellect or his willpower or ability to read people but because he’s tall and skinny and lurks in the shadows and he’s got cheesy pipe organ theme music.
TL;DR: (as something a friend of mine mentioned) Filoni’s the kind of guy who goes with the very first idea that pops into his head. He goes with his first impression and runs with it. He’s not basing this guy on legends!Thrawn—he’s basing the entirety of it on the very first paragraph of the very first book the character shows up in.

Conspiracy theory: WW Tingle may not decipher the Triforce Charts himself. His Terminian counterpart is a renowned cartographer, sure, but Termina is a world of doppelgangers, both similar and opposite to their Hylian counterparts.
Have you seen WW Tingle surveying the land to make maps? No, he's always too busy being either imprisoned or enslaving his family. He might not even have a balloon to fly around. And the map he's made to show you the way to his island? It's atrocious. I mean, you may play the devil's advocate here and say that he's observing the sea from atop his tower, and that the map was hastily drawn on the spot...
However.
You know how one of his "siblings", David Jr., is infamously not related to the Tingle family and is just a random guy that's being held hostage ever since he got stranded on the Tingle Island at the tender age of seventeen? What if, as a sailor, he knew how to read and possibly chart a map? What if Tingle is exploiting David Jr. by making him decipher the charts, only to keep the money for himself? In this essay, I will—

ik i critique and nitpick a lot but i do genuinely believe so much of the arrowverse is good. some bits are perfect, even. i think one of the big issues of having a tv universe as big and as generally low-budget as the arrowverse is that it's going to be inconsistent by nature, just from the sheer amount of people behind it. but that doesn't mean we're being unreasonable to expect a certain degree of understanding for a character's core traits, what makes a dynamic work, the development throughout the seasons and the real theme of the over-aching story. some people will have respect for the story they're trying to tell, and some people won't even be trying to tell the same story, so that's where the disconnect comes from, i think. but it's also just common courtesy to expect that the ones getting paid to tell a story know what the story is about, y'know?
