thinking about that booming guffaw that rumbles from deep within his chest, that shakes his entire form as it splits his lips into a broad, open-mouthed grin, stretched so wide that it consumes more than half of his entire face, that it scrunches his eyes to cute little crescents and furrows his brows when something exceptionally exciting happens, when he’s so thrilled and thrumming with exhilaration that he just cannot keep it contained inside of him—a rare sight, one reserved for the company of his closest confidants, but a sight you cherish nonetheless ♡

thinking about that dark, dangerous titter that always stains those sudden declarations he has when he’s scheming, those decisive thoughts stated strong and firm and with conviction, the amusing sound only working to fortify his words—a powerful punctuation at the end of something certain—after that wickedly intelligent brain has hatched another sinister plan, brilliant but terrifying ideas worming around in his skull to form a knot of something diabolical ♡

thinking about that gentle laugh that spills past his lips unthinkingly and uncontrollably, that infuses a delicate i love you—so soft, so sweet, so goddamn sincere—any time you do something he finds cute or unexpected, the usually harsh glow of his eyes dimmed with affection. and out of all of his laughs, this one is your favourite, because this laugh is private, is special, is something just for you. this laugh is shared and sacred, melts from one mouth into another between messy tongues and pawing hands and stumbling ankles. this laugh is yours to keep, forever ♡

mammon x mc concept-

MC speaks a whole lot of human world languages. Mammon does not. They’re constantly calling him words he doesn’t understand, but when he asks them what they’re saying, they mischievously refuse to tell him. So he assumes they’re probably insults.

Then one day Mammon gets his hands on a potion that allows him to understand all languages, only to realize that they’ve been calling him the Sweetest, Cheesiest terms of endearment ever.

He fell first and he fell harder.

He is completely in love with you.

He is crazy for you.

He is deeply in love with you.

He is head over heels for you.

He will do anything for you, and it means anything. Nothing can stop him from being with you. You're his angel, his guiding light, his only love, his first, his human. You're his everything. He couldn't think of one thing he can't stand about you (maybe just the fact that you're always so close with his brothers). He was always so insecure, it was not like he cared about what his brothers and strangers say about him, it was not like those words were going to affect him schemes anyway - what he cared was what you will think about him after hearing those words. but you lay next to him every night and tell him how kind he is, how decent he is, how much Lucifer trusts him, how much his brothers love him despite their rude words, how great he is to you, how much you love him. Just like that, you chase his insecurity away.

He was always so scared that he couldn't be with you the moment you need him the most, that he couldn't be the one who SAVE you. he had failed once and twice, he doesn't want it to happen thrice. He had slipped and could have not been the one who protected you from Levi's anger, he had not realized and couldn't protect you from being hurt by Belphie.

Who is he if not the first one to protect you when he is supposed to look after you?

Little does he know, you love him the same, you love him as much as he loves you and you would do anything for him. He is your first demon and he will be your first and only lover. He is your guardian demon (even when he always believe that he himself of all demons doesn’t deserve to be your guardian demon, just him wait, you will prove to him that he’s so wrong) and you love him desperately as he does. You will defend him no matter what it takes, you believe in him because you know, from the moment you belong to each other, he will never betray you. You believe in him, because he’s kind, he’s full of love - for his brothers, for the angels who he always complains about, for the Devildom's Prince and his butler, for the world which they casted him out thousands years ago, for the mortal world you belong to, for you. You love him and you want him to feel that he is loved and trusted by you; you love him and you want him to realize how amazing he is, how great he is - things that he always says but never believe himself. combining these three because this just gave me a lot of ideas, hope you don't mind!

saving scaramouche after the battle

warning: 3.2 archon quest spoiler, is this considered canon divergence??, angst, he got his vision here but this is definitely not how he got it in canon, he's crying a lot, mentions of murder?? (he wants to kill the traveler), usage of his real name multiple times, mentions of his past, no proofread

✧ actually, you didn't know whether or not you should've been surprised that he lost or not

✧ scaramouche was never known for being 'humble' in any way, so after boasting about his newfound powers combined with the doctor's work? yeah, you were kind of sure something was going to happen to him sooner or later (however warning him would've only resulted in him getting angry at you for doubting him, so therefore you decided not to do so)

✧ you had been there, watching from the sidelines and never interfering with any of them. if you would've stepped down there, you probably would've been crushed by accident with his giant mecha, but you were sure that the small dendro archon had noticed you from the beginning (besides, you surely wouldn't be jumping down there)

✧ and in the end, he lost, and you didn't feel surprised at all

✧ it was only when the dendro archon began to take the gnosis from him that you became alert, seeing how desperate scaramouche became to keep it - screaming, shouting, even threatening her to stop

✧ it genuinely,, hurt watching him despair like this, considering you knew what your lover had been through to get the gnosis, but you knew that it was futile. your intervention could've never changed anything and in the end, things would turn out just like this again

✧ only when she had clasped the electro gnosis in her hand and he finally fell forward, your body moved on its own and caught him just before his fall

✧ while the traveler including the dendro archon had immediately become defensive, you didn't even bother looking at them and left this place with whatever strength you could muster while carrying him (but it was also nahida who decided to let you go - she couldn't even sense any hostility from you)

✧ while it took scaramouche some time to wake up, you were there and held his hand, silently begging the archons above that he wouldn't be too upset over losing his 'heart' again. he looked a little roughed up and you managed to get the weird tubes that had been attached to his back out of there and tried fixing him up to the best of your abilities, but you knew that he ache in his heart couldn't be helped as simple as that

✧ it was far more shocking however how he just up into the sky, not even looking at you. not a single snarky remark, not a single annoyed huff, not even his fist clenched at the thought of his loss

✧ he looked,, desolated. deep in thought with his eyes devoid of any signs of life. it really looked like he had internally given up on anything

✧ he didn't even bother to react when you said his name, his real name, and clasped his hands, expressing how thankful you were for him to have waken up. kunikuzushi only turned his head to you before looking away once more and it tore your heart out at how empty he looked

✧ any attempt to speak to him was useless - neither did he respond once to any of your questions nor did he react to anything you said. you wondered if taking the gnosis caused even more damage than you first wanted to believe

✧ you didn't fall asleep that night. you were scared something might happen to him or worse, he might leave and do something really bad - worst case scenario being that he might go back to sumeru city and try to get his revenge through other ways

✧ at some time, scaramouche would just sit up in the middle of the night, but again staring off into nothing with a faraway look in his eyes. it almost scared you how calm he was in face of what happened, but you knew that tthere was something stirring up inside of him that he didn't dare to get out for as long as you were there

✧ when you eventually fell asleep due to your own fatigue catching up with you, kunikuzushi just stared at his hands

✧ he was pathetic. he was beaten by a god who had been abandoned years ago and that traveler (and his damn dull blade) and even got the gnosis taken away from him, again

✧ was that why his mother cast him aside? was he still to weak to do anything to prove his worth to anyone?

✧ after doing everything to become worthy of that chess piece he still managed to lose everything, regardless of what he did. maybe, he thought, he was chosen to burn inside. he was a divine creation and the gods decided to use him as their laughing stock, and their cruel divine prank started from the moment he had waken up inside shakkei pavilion and began wandering the world

✧ his nails were digging into his palm enough to draw blood, but it didn't matter. that pain was not comparable to the empty void in his chest, the pulsating ache that he had felt for more than centuries and was only stilled once he clutched the gnosis in his hands after all these years

✧ he'd kill them, he swore to himself. he'd go back and take back what's his and make these arrogant people suffer the way he has for years. then he'd continue with each and every person who would dare to stand against him once more

✧ it doesn't take long and kunikuzushi starts crying, though he doesn't even notice himself. his tears are silent and his body trembles with sheer anger

✧ that is until he suddenly feels like your hands on his face, gently cupping it and wiping a few tears away with your thumb. your gaze at him just screams how much you pity him but in that moment, it was too much - the last time someone pitied him for crying, he was put to sleep in shakkei pavilion and abandoned

✧ his first instinct is to violently flinch away from your touch. he doesn't need pity, he doesn't need anything, why was he even crying?

✧ this was exactly why she has abandoned him he thought. that's why you would abandon him soon, too. that's why everyone abandoned him or betrayed him in the end, just because they could

✧ when you try to touch his shoulders, he'd probably yell at you to get lost and you aren't sure whether or not he actually means it. guessing from his tone, he did want you gone, far away from him so you won't withness the balladeer crying and being unable to stop

✧ the only reason why he's trying so horribly to push you away in that moment is not the fact that you can see him crying (although that's also a reason), but rather the fact that he believes that the moment you comfort him, that you might leave him soon after and he'll never feel your comforting touch nor your loving words ever again

✧ it hurts to just sit next to him while he sobs and constantly tells you to get lost - but you remain resilient because you know that it would only bring about more harm if you actually left him behind like this. the fact that he can't even stop his tears from falling while trying so desperately to wipe them away and cover his face almost made you cry as well

✧ it takes patience to finally reach out for him, pulling him into your arms. it's hard keeping him close because he'd be trashing around, hitting your shoulders and threatening you to let go off him with the sharpest of words, but you'd refuse any of it, trying your best to whisper reassuring words to him

✧ before long, he'll clutch onto your shoulders and hides his face into the nape of your neck, sobbing into your shoulder and begging you not to leave him behind - that was the first and final time you had ever seen him, kunikuzushi, cry

✧ perhaps when his sobs died down little by little, you might notice that he's actually asleep in your arms but still holding onto you for dear life

✧ it's only when the first sunrays fall onto him in the morning and he rises from his sleep, he finds you right next to him, holding onto his hand in your sleep - but that wasn't the most shocking thing to him that caused him to visibly still his movements at once he glanced down at the unknown weight in his hand

✧ it happened to be that small glowing gemstone right in his hand that had been holding yours in his sleep, a vision that had appeared right after losing everything that he believed

✧ his journey had not ended the day he lost the gnosis a second time, as a new path opened up before his very eyes when he woke you with a slight (unwanted) tremor in his voice, holding the vision in his hand with a look you couldn't quite put down as tired as you were (was he happy? surprised? you had genuinely no idea)

✧ he refuses to show it, but he's proud, holding it in both of his hands and almost gawking at it the longer he looke down on it - he was still upset about the gnosis, sure, but you could see something else behind his eyes too

✧ you hadn't left him behind and the gods had not abandoned him; your existence and the vision in his hand were proof enough that he was still worthy of something

✧ he's happy. genuinely happy (and so are you when you see his bashful expression when you mention that he's been staring at it for almost an hour now)

Misc. Heart Pirates Head Canons

So, when I'm bored out of my brain at work I've been thinking about my silly little beloveds the Heart Pirates! So here are some thoughts I've had about them and the crew structure! Crew Structure

Not a traditional first mate or incredibly strict hierarchy. I figure Law's authority issues extend to how he runs his crew!

There's four "departments" basically where one of the core-four preside over.

Bepo is in charge of all the helm stuff: navigation, steering, general operations (maintenance of equipment, engineering)

Penguin is in charge of personnel: finances, crew schedules, supplies (clothes, food, yatta yatta)

Shachi is on weapons: armory & procurement of, training the crew, and any like recon they do is planned by him

Law handles all the medical stuff: yearly exams, extensive charts/notes on the crew, any on-going treatments, and the supplies for this specifically goes through him

As captain, Law does oversee/supervise the others if he feels it relevant but after like 13 years he's pretty confident his favorite idiots can handle themselves!

The tang runs on two shifts so someone is always around to keep the sub running in case of emergencies, as such there's often multiple crew members capable of a job (ex chef, helmsman, engineering, nurses)

All the crew knows how to handle alarms, any gauge or sonar readouts, and just generally keep everyone from dying

Most of the crew knows basic triage and first aid

Any Big Decisions (TM) are normally talked over. The crew has a lot of say in most scenarios... One of the few times this was not the case was Law ordering them to Zou when he went to Punk Hazard.

It was an intentional choice on Law & the crew's part that none of them were spotted on jobs and don't have bounties. A lot of the crew's work, especially early on in Law's plotting against Doffy, was gathering information and other covert work. Them being well known or recognizable would've made it impossible for this to get done... It also would've made hiding from Doffy that much harder.

The crew splits proceeds evenly! 50% goes to the Tang's upkeep and supplies, 50% is split equally between everyone else.

Law- Captain, Doctor

Penguin- Quartermaster

Shachi- Armsmaster

Bepo- Navigator

Jean Bart- Helmsman

Ikkaku- Head Engineer

Uni- Head Nurse

Clion Chef

Hakugan- Helmsman

The unnamed crew I do plan to flesh out eventually, but I haven't made a whole lot of headway in that direction yet... Some day I shall!

Silly HCs

Other than Bepo, everyone is older than Law

Penguin likes to sing

He also has collected rocks & shells from every island they've stopped at to make a living map of their travels.

I personally like to think of Shachi & Peng as some sort of fishman-human hybrid or perhaps a few generations removed from a fishman ancestor? Not super sure on how it works exactly, but I think they both look a lil odd and that's why they hide their eyes and such with hats.

Ikkaku handles Law 2nd best only to the Core 4. She knows when he needs space and when he needs to be pushed pretty well, and so they're pretty close.

Uni loves to sew; it's how he relaxes and passes time while they're underwater for long stretches of time. He is also the person who customizes most of Law's clothes with their jolly roger

Law did said customization before they recruited Uni and still helps, but Uni shoves him off often and says this is his therapy time alone

Clione takes to new members the best

He's also a great fighter and definitely yeeted Shachi into a wall one day; Shachi was delighted with this

He can drink most of the crew under the table

Hakugan is enby! And uses they/them pronouns

They also communicate with sign language, so the entire crew is relatively fluent

Hakugan is never lost; they have a 6th sense for where north is at all times

Much like their namesake, Hakugan is a volatile creature prone to violence

Shachi likes to keep up with psychology journals in his free time, so sometimes he & Law will have a little "medical journal book club" to hang out

Bepo is more an astronomy & weather guy... there was, however, a tragic mix-up with the news coo one time that resulted in Bepo getting an astrology magazine.

He likes to torment Law by teasing him with a well placed "That's so very libra of you, captain."

Law actually likes his coffee absurdly, disgustingly sweet

Penguin, however, takes his coffee black

Shachi & Bepo are 2 of 3 members of the Hearts without a caffeine addiction. Hakugan is the third

Penguin has given up trying to get Law on a schedule... It has never worked in their 13 years sailing together

Law had to implement a "no gambling on the tang" rule shortly after Hakugan joined; They were absolutely taking everyone else's money

Law does, however, actively encourage fleecing marines & rival pirate crews

The crew has picked up some Mink social behaviors! As such they're very physically affectionate... Yes, even Law. Though he tends to contain his affection to when they're in private or on the Polar Tang

It's super common to see the crew swap undershirts, jewelry, or other accessories

Bepo has a collection of his crewmates' shirts! Uni made it into a quilt for him since he can't exactly wear them properly

Everyone else has a "Bepo shirt"

Ikkaku tends to forget she's wearing hers while working on the Tang or to sleep then walks about. Whenever Bepo sees this he gets all flustered & teary-eyed

Law, similarly, wears his to sleep in regularly. He would rather be caught dead than wearing though. That's way too mushy for him.... but if there are days where he's still wearing it when Bepo comes to check on him in the morning, well, nobody has to know but them right?

Shachi & Penguin one time wore their Bepo shirts and attempted to force Bepo into their shirts which... obviously did not fit. Undetered they stitched the two together to the ultimate-bros-shirt. Bepo loves this shirt & wears it regularly.

Shachi & Penguin remake this shirt whenever the old one starts wearing down or falling apart every few years

(I took this one from a fic cuz I thought it was just so good) Between more junior members of the crew, it's a running gag that Law, Shachi, & Penguin are more "lesser mink" than "human" after 13 years with Bepo.

Law finds this absolutely hysterical, Bepo says they're all lesser minks

Law is, in fact, capable of a variety of animal noises such as growling, hissing, or purring. He normally makes this noises on accident when startled or particularly relaxed. He did not intentionally learn to make these noises. He was just an incredibly weird child and like many weird children before and after him, mimicked animals

Shachi & Penguin may or may not make fun of him for this

They may or may not have started the rumor that one of Law's parents was a mink; a rumor that Law has unintentionally perpetuated with his general wet cat behavior

Penguin's family were whalers! He uses a harpoon & is a fantastic fisher as a result

The above makes him Clione's favorite

Penguin often threatens Shachi with the harpoon so he may join his bretheren. Shachi shrieks back that orcas are not whales but dolphins. This is a near weekly song & dance.

Each of the "core four" have a way to show they accept a newbie into the crew!

Shachi carves a little wooden animal

Penguin embroiders their name inside their boiler suits

Bepo trades clothes with them

Law procures a custom mug decorated to their taste

Law normally gives his first, actually. Firstly, if he invited you to his crew he already likes you well enough. Two, he knows he can be an unapproachable dick and sees it as a bit of a peace offering. Three, to show the rest of the crew this new person is approved!

Shachi & Penguin gives theirs whenever they feel the new member has "earned" it. Normally 2nd/3rd in whatever order they deem.

Bepo basically always gives his last. He's a very anxious lil guy and doesn't want to disturb or weird anyone out.

Jean Bart is, ironically, the only crew member to not have concussed himself on the doorways in the Tang

Law had a few problem years after his sudden growth spurt, but it hasn't been a problem since he got used to being taller

After reuniting on Zou there was a crew wide cuddle puddle

Law is surprisingly tactile so long as it's on his terms. A head pat there, brushing his hands against a cheek or shoulder there... That kind of thing

This is generally the best indicator of how much he actually likes you

Law often stims using Bepo's fur or paws. Bepo loves this very much
