I'm rereading acotar and I wonder how have I not shipped lucien and feyre when I first read it. I mean, in the first half of the book feyre ignores tamtam pretty much, she is always looking for lucien and between them there's this sort of "understanding". I'm really liking it, I didn't remember it was like this.

But what I wonder the most is HOW DO PEOPLE HATE LUCIEN? HAW CAN YOU?

Can we please take a moment to appreciate just how tragic a character Lucien is? And acknowledge how much he deserves his own happy ending? 🥺🥺

Raised in a household where he is hated by all of his brothers and his father. 

Forced to watch as his father executes the female he loves and planned to marry. His own brothers restrain him. When he flees, three of them follow him and he’s forced to kill one of his own brothers, while Tamlin kills the other.

He’s attacked by Amarantha after insulting her. She carves out his eye and sends him back to the Spring Court. The injuries are so gruesome they made Tamlin vomit.

Under the mountain he refuses to give up Feyre’s name and Rhysand basically mind tortures him.

He helps Feyre in the first task and his punishment is to be whipped by Tamlin (his best friend). Amarantha slows his healing powers so he can’t even move for days.

During the second trial, Amarantha chains Lucien to the floor and he almost dies again, all while his brothers watch and laugh.

When Tamlin refuses to perform the rite on Calanmai, Lucien goes in his place, despite his hatred for Ianthe. This is borderline SA in my opinion.

He finds out he has a mate only to lose her instantly. Thinks she's being tormented in the NC.

He is used as a pawn in Feyre’s schemes to destroy the Spring Court. This eventually results in him not being able to return to Spring because people think he helped hurt Feyre or was complicit.

Ianthe ties him to a tree and tries to assault him.

Once again his brothers attempt to kill him as he and Feyre try to get to the Night Court.

He is constantly rejected by Elain, probably thinks he will never be loved by her.

At one point Lucien comes back from the Spring Court with a black eye. He is now being physically abused by his former best friend.

After Rhysand taunts Tamlin, Tamlin has all of Lucien’s belongings dumped on the Spring Court border, so now he can’t return there either. He has no home.

I was planning on sharing this on Valentine’s Day but I got too impatient/ excited and decided to share it early.

This lovely art was done by @ya_ariart . She did an amazing job of course! In “A Court of Thorns and Roses” Elain mentions that she would like to go visit the continent and see all the flowers that grow in other countries. So I wanted to commission a piece showing Elain and Lucien going to visit the continent. I feel like Lucien would happily go with Elain, especially since he’s been to the continent before and would know his way around.

Is it just me who hates the theory that Eris is ALSO Helion's biological child? Because not only does it make Eris becoming the next High Lord of Autumn stupid, it also reinforces the idea that Eris is ONLY a decent male BECAUSE his 'biological father' is one, and that children can't grow up to be better than their evil biological parents.

It's probably why I hate the theory that Gwyn is related to Eris as well (his great grandaughter or something) because it will undermine her overall achievements with the Blood Rite and her becoming a Valkyrie - when people meet her, they won't talk about her personal achievements, but about her being a princess of Autumn, and this just annoys me, because it reinforces the idea that people can ONLY be relevant to the story if they are somehow related to royalty. It WOULD be cool though to have a character that for ONCE throws their royal parentage away and chooses not be a part of that life and to continue onto the path that they made for themselves, and not one that was given.

Plus, we have this whole Beron-LoA-Helion royal parentage trope with Lucien already, and it would be very repetitive.

Which is why I love Jurian, because he's just this normal guy whose only royal connection is to Vassa, and that's ONLY because he may have some feelings for her.

once in a while some lulu stan post slips trough my scrolling crying about lulu Unfortunate Bad Bad Life of Suffering and it's truly like reading AITA's of straight men talking about how bad they feel that their Nice Guy best friend can't get bitches and how that ruins his life and when you ask them what does this friend do to secure a date they say "oh well they pay for the food! Lucien's hands slackened at his sides. His voice broke as he whispered to Elain, "You're my mate."

reminder that Lucien did not growl these words to elain. He did not scream them, he did not bellow them, he did not order them onto her like a possessive claim. He whispered them, voice breaking, in shock and awe, as he realizes that she is his mate, not Jesminda. He whispers them, heart shattering as he realizes what she feels. Rhys said Feyre was as good as shouting her emotions, her thoughts, her feelings down the bond when she didn't shield. perhaps it because rhys is a daemi. or perhaps its just because feyre was newly fae. lucien can feel elains thoughts and feelings just the same way rhys can hear and feel feyres.

I hate the argument that Lucien didn't do enough for Feyre when she:

literally flirts with Tamlin all day to tempt him to her room

feigned a nightmare knowing Lucien would comfort her and thrashed her sheets

she throws herself at his bare chest

uses summer court power to create tears

deliberately wore - in her words - the most indecent nightgown to be caught in

left Lucien's door open and cast a shield so Lucien wouldn't hear or scent Tamlin's arrival

dropped the shield as soon as she sensed tamlin so he wouldn't know

fed into tamlin's insecurities that feyre would pick lucien over him and she wanted him to examine every time lucien had intervened between them to help her

"I waited the five minutes it took Tamlin to decide not to kill Lucien, and then smiled." - Would she have helped Lucien if Tamlin did attack him?

she's literally using lucien as cannon fodder for her own gains
