“You alright, DuPont?”
You was snapped out of your thoughts as Clemensia entered the bathroom you were currently brooding in. Her eyes were fixed on the rim of the sink you were currently stood over, glossy red nails digging into the sleek marble. It was reaping day, and unlike most of your peers, the games didn’t elicit boredom or disinterest. They evoked anger.
As much as your parents wanted to believe they had raised a Capitol sweetheart, you were as passionate about the cruelty of the Hunger Games as your dear friend Sejanus, maybe even more at times. You had cried yourself to sleep the first year the games were broadcasted out of sheer disgust and heartache, not being able to stomach the sight of all the gore and death. From that day forward, you had spent every reaping day locked away in your room, silently mourning children you would never be able to save. This year however, you and a handful of your fellow classmates had been asked personally by the Dean to make an appearance at the school’s broadcast of the reapings. Most had quickly came to the conclusion that the annual winner of the Plinth Prize, a hefty sum of money that Sejanus’s father annually awarded to the highest performing student, was going to be announced. The prize money failed to excite you as well. While you were one of the top scoring students of your class, you had more than enough money to put you and half of the student body through University. You assumed however, Coriolanus, another one of your classmates, would be eyeing that award.
You turned to face Clemensia, who had grown worried by your prolonged silence, Opting to stare aimlessly into the gold rimmed mirror instead of answering her. Your hands released the cool stone of the sink, and instead twisted together and wrung out, as if there was an invisible towel in your hands. Lips pursing together, attempting to force some form of a smile.
“Never better Clemmie!”
Tumblr media
Your eyes grazed over the clusters of people as you entered the main hall. Clemensia had split off from you to go join Coriolanus and Festus Creed, who were having what appeared to be a rather one-sided conversation. Across from them you could see Dean Casca Highbottom trying to not-so-subtly intoxicate himself with morphling drops. Despite him being the creator of the Hunger Games, you were shocked he was still allowed to make public appearances, let alone give speeches. Your eyes finally landed on Sejanus, who was standing off in one of the corners of the room, a scowl prominent on his face.
“Sejanus!” You called to him, as you made your way over to where he was standing, being careful to not let your velvety black dress get snagged on anything as you weaved between students and staff members.
“Ms. DuPont, to what do I owe the pleasure?” His voice dripping with over sophisticated sarcasm as you approached. What was likely his first smile of the day creeping onto his tan face.
“How are you holding up?” Your voice lowering down to what was just below a whisper. Unlike you, Sejanus was born in the districts, only moving to the Capitol after his father made a risky bet, siding against the district rebels during the war. As a reward, the Capitol offered him and his family a place in the city, with an income that put even yours to shame. Although he was only eight when he left, part of Sejanus had always resented his father for making him and his Ma leave District two. Here he was ostracized by the majority of his peers, and merely tolerated by the rest. The reapings were just another reminder of another thing he had lost when he left. His sense of belonging.
“I don’t understand…” The boy’s former smile was quickly replaced by a grimace. “How can they all act so nonchalant about all this?? Like this is just any other day?”
You knew deep down he was feeling guilty, for the money he had, the immunity he was granted, all of it. While he was safe in the Capitol, all his former classmates from district two were at risk of being selected as tribute, most of whom were even at their young age dropping out of school to work, just to support their families. You wanted to comfort the boy more than anything, to tell him he wasn’t alone and that you understood the agony he was going through. But the words refused to leave your mouth, already choked up at the sight of your friend in front of you. Instead you chose to gently place a hand on his shoulder, tracing the intricate detailing of his suit as you tried to collect yourself, so you would be able to console the compassionate boy. “It’s going to be fine Sejanus, we’ll figure out wh-”
Your attempts at comforting the boy were cut short by the sound of a throat clearing at the front of the hall. Dean Highbottom had taken his place in front of a large wooden podium, where a woman with graying hair and cold dead eyes stood. A shiver was sent down your spine as you caught a glimpse of them, the one milky white eye contrasting against the electric blue one. The woman had a sinister aura and you could feel yourself backing away out of instinct. On either side of her TVs displayed the beginnings of the reapings, cameras giving brief flashes of each of the twelve districts, where children were standing in fenced off sections. Your heart sank as the grainy footage showed a cluster of twelve year old girls from what you believed to be district eleven. All wide eyes and jerky movements, this was the first year that they were at risk of being reaped.
“I’m assuming you all are waiting for news of the Plinth Prize?” The Dean was clearly more than just a little inebriated by the sound of it, yet his words inspired an excited buzz to fill the hall, with many of your fellow peers speculating on who would be this year’s recipient.
“I’m here to inform you that the prize will work a little differently this year.” Highbottom’s voice echoed off the walls as an anticipatory silence fell over the crowd.
“Twenty four of the top accomplished students will each receive a tribute that is reaped today, to mentor and guide throughout the games. Whichever mentor gets their tribute to…perform the best, will receive the prize. Winning will be taken into consideration, but will not be the deciding factor.”
You couldn’t believe what you were hearing. You turned to face Sejanus to see if he was in as much shock as you were. How were a group of capitol kids who had no experience whatsoever with fighting or survival skills supposed to “guide” their tributes?? Considering what the Capitol was forcing them to do, you would be surprised if any of them would even speak to you.
Sejanus returned your stare, a look of imminent dread appearing on his face. Knowing his father, he had probably already bribed the dean to give him a tribute from District two.
Highbottom then began to roll of the names of students who would act as mentors, coinciding with the reapings from each district, as photos of the tributes appeared on the TVs, their names listed below them.
“District two male, Sejanus Plinth…” Out of the corner of your eye, you could see Sejanus sink lower into his seat. You silently reached over to grasp his hand as a photo of a well built eighteen year old boy appeared on the TV to your left. He had wide set shoulders and a scowl smeared across his face as a group of Peacekeepers ushered him onto the stage, nudging him in the back with the butts of their riffles. In large text below his figure you could read out the name Marcus. From the apparent misery plastered across your friend’s face, it was easy to assume that the two had known at each other at one point.
As the Dean went down the list of mentors, you found yourself zoning out, trying to think of ways in which you would be able to help your tribute. You would need to find out whether or not they were of any use with a weapon, and if not, where would they be able to hide and lay low. As your mind raced with all different types of scenarios you would need to prepare your tribute for, you almost missed Dean Highbottom calling out your name.
“District seven male, Y/N DuPont…”
Eyes bolting up to the screens in front of you, you were met with the sight of him. He was well built like Marcus, with dark curls peeking out from under a worn out hat. He looked like he was your age— seventeen or maybe eighteen, yet his eyes were those of a young child, filled with fear and terror. His olive skin seemed to have drained of all its color as he was marched to the platform, Peacekeepers on either side of him.
Your eyes trailed down the screen to where his name was listed…
‘Treech’

i recently rewatched all 4 hunger games movies and the romance between peeta and katniss is so beautiful. it perfectly plays in to that friends to lovers to enemies and back to lovers trope. everything from the little details, such as the way katniss sacrificed herself for peeta to get the medicine he needed. she didn’t have to do that, she didn’t have to go find peeta and save him. katniss could’ve survived on her own without him, she had all the resources she needed. and in mockingjay part one when peeta risked his entire life by telling katniss that the capitol plans to bomb district 13 shows that even though the capitol is feeding peeta misinformation about katniss, he still tries to hold on to her. it’s so heartbreaking knowing that he was so confused because everything that he believed was a lie. they needed eachother to heal.

AU: Journey to Redemption (Part 5)
The Storm Within
Coriolanus Snow x Fem!reader
First Part. / The Winter Ball / Champagne Problems / Frost and Thorns / The Storm Within
Tumblr media
Summary: Y/N, a young idealist in Panem, dreams of making a difference in a post-war society. As the winner of the prestigious Plinth Prize is about to be announced, a mysterious woman unveils a grim fate for Coriolanus Snow, Y/N's nemesis. Offered a chance to alter destiny, Y/N must navigate her conflicting emotions and intervene in pivotal moments to prevent Snow's descent into darkness. The story unfolds against the backdrop of complex relationships, past connections, and the challenges of a changing world, as Y/N grapples with the responsibility of shaping an unexpected destiny and challenging the very fabric of fate.
Warning(s): None, enemy to lovers, back in time, destiny, Snow being in love, Snow being Snow, possible grammar and spelling mistakes

Y/N was furious; each accelerated beat of her heart echoed her indignation. The news of betting on tributes, Arachne being beheaded on camera, the snakebites on Clemensia, and the final blow was the information that they had bombed the arena with Coriolanus inside. Determined to confront Coriolanus, she relentlessly sought him, even reaching the boy's apartment, a place she had never visited before.
The boy opened the door with wet hair, his chest still exposed with bandages. Y/N couldn't help but notice, especially because Snow was much taller than her. His hair dripped, and droplets ran down his torso. She couldn't help but notice his imposing height and the sight of his wet body. That only made her angrier because, despite everything, he still exerted some kind of attraction over her.
"I've been looking for you," Y/N exclaimed, her voice laden with anger.
"I just came back from the hospital, I'm alive," Coriolanus spoke as if everything were under control, trying to maintain composure but failing to completely hide his anxiety. "I'm getting ready to see Lucy Gray shortly. If you could excuse me…" He was about to close the door when Y/N stopped him, entering his apartment.
Without hesitation, Y/N lunged at Coriolanus, her weak blows against his chest unable to affect the boy but revealing the intensity of her frustration. His warm skin matched Y/N's fury.
"You idiot!" Tears glistened in her eyes. "I can't believe you have the nerve to tell me this! Arachne is dead, Clemensia is poisoned, and when I saw the explosion live, I thought the worst had happened. And you dare to keep thinking about the games? You have no soul?" She was furious with the boy. "Why do you still participate in this?" Y/N demanded, her voice laden with disappointment.
Coriolanus laughed in denial, spitting out words full of resentment. "Y/N, I'm not Sejanus, okay? I know you wanted me to be, and I would too, but I'm not. Arachne is dead, Clemensia is poisoned, and Lucy Gray… well, that's another horrible story. I doubt she'll make it to the Games, and maybe it's even better."
"I don't want you to be like him, Coriolanus. In fact, I don't know why you have this fixation on the boy. He's lost, he's afraid just like you."
"If you came here to talk about him, Y/N, you can leave." He pointed to the door.
"You need to get over this one-sided rivalry with him, Coriolanus."
"Sejanus usurped my position, inheritance, clothes, food, and the privilege due to a Snow. Now he's trying to take my apartment, my place at the University, my own future, and had the audacity to resent his luck in getting the best tribute. I even believe he wants to date you." This thought he had never shared with anyone. It was very intimate.
Y/N was astounded, shocked by the information spilled by the boy. Despite having the height and appearance of a man, he had feelings as petty and low as a child.
"Corio, I know you've never shared this with anyone. But these thoughts and this anxiety don't suit you. I won't judge how you feel, but I want to reassure you that these feelings are unfounded. You need to think better, calmly. About what is real or not."
"Stop with the therapy, Y/N. You're making me feel like garbage." The boy tried in every way to avoid the girl's gaze.
"Maybe because you're acting like a jerk."
"You just assaulted me, came to my house to hit me, and you're still offending me with words. I could call the police." My God, this boy was 10 years old.
"Darling, I used all my strength, and you didn't even feel it." He laughed for a moment, but soon his serious demeanor returned. "If I wanted something with Sejanus, I would have had it already. Also, because I'm single." She spoke sincerely, showing her hand with no ring. "But I don't like him that way." The girl approached him.
"Don't go, I don't know what to do for you not to go." She felt a tightness in her chest, and tears returned to illuminate her eyes. "You can't win the Games, Coriolanus. You can't."
He was afraid, didn't know who he could trust. He could have been stung if Clemensia had written the proposal in his place, and if Lucy Gray hadn't come back to help, he would have died in the arena fire. He hid his head in his hands, confused, angry, and, more than anything, afraid. Afraid of Dr. Gaul. Afraid of the Capitol. Afraid of everything. If the people who should protect him played so easily with his life, how was it possible to survive? Not by trusting them, that was for sure. And if you couldn't trust them, who could you trust? Impossible to know.
"Don't you see, Y/N? Lucy Gray saved my life, and I need to help her win. She needs me. My family needs me. This is an opportunity for us, a chance to get out of this difficult life. I can't ignore that." For the first time, real emotions appeared on Coriolanus's face, as if he were, indeed, fearing the consequences of his actions.
Coriolanus ran his hand through his blond hair, frustrated. "I can't change the system alone. But maybe, if I'm in there, close to the power, I can make a difference. I can change things."
"Promise me that when you win the games, you'll protect Sejanus. Please. Promise me."
The boy was confused; what did Sejanus have to do with the story?
"It seems like you're sure I'm going to win the games," he said irritably. "Because you're so concerned about Sejanus? Doesn't my life matter?" It was never about him, Coryo.
"The problem, Coryo, is that you were the only person who appeared in all the visions, alive, well. Not Sejanus, not me, not even Lucy Gray. It was never about Sejanus, it was about you. I don't want you to become someone despicable." Y/N thought.
"I trust in your ability to survive; you're a Snow above all else. Sejanus is your friend; there has never been a reason to worry about him. Don't think of him as your rival; think of him as a loyal friend." Y/N was so close to the boy she could smell the roses and mint from his toothpaste. "I don't want to lose you, Coryo." She rested her forehead against his. "It's not about Sejanus; it's about you. It has always been about you." Her lips touched his. This kiss was more urgent, like a last kiss. It seemed that both would waste time if they stopped to breathe. Coryo's large hands guided the kiss, and their bodies pressed together as if struggling to be in the same place. Y/N placed her hands on the boy's bare chest and could feel his heart beating at an impossible speed. She didn't want to stop the kiss, didn't want to leave, didn't want to let him go. She wanted to keep him there forever. With her.
Coryo gradually guided Y/N to the sofa, lying on top of her. The kiss was more than just a meeting of lips; it was a fusion of souls, a desperate search for comfort amid the chaos. He didn't intend to do anything beyond the kiss, but he wanted more and more. The girl messed up Coryo's hair with her fingers and made sounds of approval during the kiss. It was as if the two of them fit together like two pieces in a puzzle.
Y/N's body was on fire. Coryo didn't even remember there was a war outside. He could only think about how small and defenseless the girl seemed in his arms, completely surrendered to him.
"You're mine," he whispered in her ear, making her whole body shiver.
"Come back to me, Coryo. Fight, struggle, but in the end, come back to me."
With another kiss, Coriolanus silenced Y/N, and after a few seconds, they separated. Y/N returned to her apartment, hoping that her words and the heat of the moment had touched Coriolanus, prompting a profound reflection on his actions and choices.

Trap | Prologue
Warnings: Fluff, Mature Themes, Violence, Corruption, Manipulation, Mentions of Smut, Mentions of Killing.
Tumblr media
If anyone asked the Capitol what soulmates looked like, either platonic or romantic, two names would appear in their minds.
Coriolanus Snow and Lalina Trap.
Two of the best students at the Academy in the Capital.
And the President Of Panem and the First Lady of Panem.
Soulmates; It was a word that couldn't even possibly explain the friendship between Lalina Trap and Coriolanus Snow. The two seemed more than that.
They had been the best of friends ever since they had met. Never once leaving the other, no one could see one of them without the other. The two seemed to be in sync, almost as if they were the same person sharing one mind.
But then again, they didn't share the same personalities for no reason at all. The two were good, really good, clever and tactical. Their minds fresh and sharp, cunning and devious all the same. Afterall, the two seemed to click for a reason after all.
Power and Love. They craved it, they wanted it, but more then that; They wanted each other.
But rejection and the ruining of their friendship kept them apart, the fear of losing the other kept them apart. Yet, the two also seemed to want each other because of that. Because the other craved power, because they were devious and psychotic. They were the same person in two different bodies.
But while Coriolanus looked to be devious, Lalina looked innocent. She was a innocent young woman, never letting anyone see her true face. Except her best friend, Corio, she had nicknamed, who knew her truly.
The saying was: Snow Lands On Top
But there was another saying.
Never ever fall in Lalina Trap's trap. She was a trap for a reason, her traps never failed.
Never Fall Into Her Trap.
The two couldn't stand to see other people around the other, they couldn't stand the other getting hurt, emotionally or even physically. They were meant to be, they were meant to be together, they were meant to rule. The perfect power couple.
Two Monsters In Love.
Laughs and cheers were heard all around as the pary commenced, right after the 74th Hunger Games. The two victors had been crowned, surprisingly and not surprisingly of District 12. Then again, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, were the famous love couple. Their gossip and love story had become quite popular and had spread all around the Capitol and the districts.
Katniss walked side by side with her man, a fake smile on her face as she held Peeta's hand as they followed after Haymitch and Effie who was talking about something related to the party.
The female victor looks over in front of her when she hears boisterous laughter, she furrows her eyebrows in confusion. It wasn't surprising to see such loud things happening at a party, buy she could hear the compliments and sweet talks of the ladies and men all around.
As if they were complimenting someone.
Haymich also pauses, something flashes in his eyes as the people move away to reveal a bodyguard. The man turns before he walks to the side, revealing a woman.
Katniss blinked in shock, the woman was absolutely beautiful. She looked fairly old, but that didn't seem to dull her beauty, in fact, it seemed as if it enhanced it. And unlike the fashion of the capital, she was dressed quite simply yet elegantly.
Her platinum blonde hair, almost white, was in a half updo and half down. Her brown eyes were like two doe eyes staring right at her, yet sharp like daggers. Her lips were heart-shaped and painted pink. Her makeup was tame compared to the rest of the Capitol, but she looked beautiful in the simplicity.
She was wearing a long brown gown, smooth and light. She wore light jewelry compared to others, light golden earrings, bracelets around her wrists and a few rings on her fingers. But despite that, the energy that radiated off her was powerful and strong.
Katniss narrows her eyes, spotting the snowflake pendent around her neck, seeing the word 'trap' on it.
Haymitch chuckles, looking like a deer caught in headlights.
The woman's lips immediately break out into a wide smile, looking eager and surprised. "Haymitch!" She exclaims with a chuckle, holding a drink that had a pink liquid in it. "How are you?" She smiles kindly, her doe eyes twinkling.
Haymich smiles, looking tipsy yet knowing where he was currently. "Ahh, just showing the victors where the real party was." He says, looking over at his tributes. "Katniss, Peeta. I want you to meet our lady of Panem. The First Lady Of Panem and President Snow's Wife. Lalina Trap-Snow." He smiles politely.
Lalina's eyes snap towards Peeta and Katniss, eyeing them carefully. "Ahh, yes. The famous couple I've been hearing about, finally getting to meet them." She smiles.
Katniss didn't seem to think the smile was genuine.
Lalina's eyes linger on the pin on Katniss's dress. "What a lovely pin," she remarks, taking a sip of her drink.
Katniss merely nods, looking hesitant.
"You're very beautiful." Peeta says, staring at her in what looked like awe almost.
Katniss side eyes him.
Haymitch coughs.
A laugh bubbles out of Lalina's lips. "Wow, that must be the most genuine thing I have heard from someone other than my husband." She chuckles, clearing her throat as she maintained her posture.
Katniss continued to stare, almost as if analyzing her. She didn't know whether to like the woman or not, she was kind enough. But even kind faces had dark sides that they showed no one. But Lalina Trap-Snow, she seemed to be a mystery.
"Well, you do look quite spectacular this evening." Haymitch says with a nod. "And I don't lie when I'm drunk."
Lalina smirks. "You're always drunk, Haymitch."
"Guilty,"
Peeta chuckles.
Effie smiles, looking surprisingly uncomfortable in the presence of the First Lady of Panem.
"Well, I should not keep you waiting." Haymitch nods, gesturing to the party. "I'm sure you have priorities."
"Oh, don't worry yourself." Lalina says. "I have to go meet Corio anyway. It was an honor meeting the famous love couple." She glances in the direction of Katniss and Peeta. She smiles at them before turning around and walking away, with the man and a few other security guards following behind her at a safe distance.
Effie sighs, breathing out in relief. "Oh, that woman gives me the creeps!" She says quickly and quietly, looking around incase anyone heard.
Katniss and Peeta watch in fascination as the First Lady walks away.
"Don't be fooled by the act," Haymitch speaks up, looking around the gala. "Lalina Trap is a mystery herself. She's said to be more devious then Snow, and that's saying something." His eyes light up when a waiter walks by, he grabs the glass of whiskey and downs it.
Katniss looks back at her. "More then Snow?"
"She seems so...kind." Peeta frowns, looking back at his mentor.
Haymitch chuckles. "Oh, don't fall in her trap. There's a reason she's a Trap, she's clever and knows how to play her part well. She's most likely the only weakness that Snow has, but also his strength. They're both devious and clever." He sighs, shaking his head. "Don't underestimate Lalina Trap. And most importantly, don't fall into her trap, her traps never fail."
Katniss' eyes trail back towards the seemingly kind woman, spotting her walking up to President Snow.
The Victor blinks in surprise when she sees the glimpse of genuine longing in Snow's eyes as he turns to her, his hand grabbing her hand and pressing a kiss to her knuckles gently.
Lalina giggles, her laughter bubbling around as her cheeks turn a pretty pink color.
Katniss watches keenly, looking curious.
Lalina Snow.
Lalina Trap-Snow.
Lalina Trap.

So i have this idea about Lucy gray
One of those nights, Lucy and reader are drinking, kinda tipsy. Lucy rants about having a crush on this girl and how the girl is paying her no mind. reader would say something like "I would never do you like that," and Lucy would laugh, then say something like "yeah sure, you'll do me worse, you and your heterosexuality." reader would be surprised that Lucy thought she was straight. "What?? I'm not straight.
lucy gray x reader
gonna take this idea and run with it. also I'm so sorry for taking forever to write this, life is hectic right now. I promise I'll be more active now!
lucy gray gives her final bow, waving goodbye to the audience before running off the stage. you were waiting on the side, jumping up and down in excitement when she wrapped her arms around you and pulling you close. you could smell the alcohol oozing off her.
"wow, you got lucky tonight," you tease. she giggles loudly, snuggling her face into the crook of your neck. you felt your cheeks overheating as she did, that you pry her off you.
"mmm, peacekeepers gave me a bottle of moonshine, taste shit, but I like being drunk," she replies, trying to cling on to you again. the mix of her performing high mixing with being tipsy made her almost delirious, which made you struggle not to laugh at her.
you guide her to the shack out the back, and sit her down on a crate that was pushed up against the wall. "you're drunk," you exclaim, hands on your hips as you tower over her.
"I'm barely tipsy," she reassures, but you shake your head. "if I was drunk, would I be able to do this?" she gets up and tried to walk in a straight line.
you slowly clap, raising an eyebrow. "good job, you just walked diagonally," you tease, helping her sit back down as she brushes you off. you pull up a crate and sit next to her, holding her up right.
she began blushing a deep red and you assume it was because of the alcohol in her system—lucy gray was more than glad you didn't know the real reason. she was embarrassed that you were seeing her like this; ever since you were young she had a massive crush on you. she'd scraped her knee on a sharp rock and you immediately kissed it better—the two of you had been inseparable since. but when she got like this, she couldn't help but wonder if you'd ever see her as something other than her best friend. . .
"lucy gray? earth to lucy gray," you joke, waving your hand in front of her face. she offers you a wide smile, forgetting about her thoughts and focusing on your caring face instead. "who was that song about?"
her eyes widen, as she tries to come up with an answer that wasn't 'you.' she'd broken up with billy taupe months back, so you'd see right through that lie. taking a deep breath, she finally replies, "this girl I like."
your eyebrows raise, as cover your mouth in shock. you stare at her, mouth agape, for a moment, "I didn't know you swung that way."
"darlin', I swing both ways," she jokes, a huge weight off her chest. one confession down, just another to go. "I don't know if she likes me back though, we're friends and I don't want to ruin it by asking," she confides, resting her head against your shoulder and pouting.
you shake your head, "any girl who can refuse you and your puppy dog eyes is foolish," you reassure, pressing a finger to her nose. "who is this girl, I'll make her see the light," lucy gray laughs, shaking her head.
readjusting her position, lucy gray moves to get a better look at you. "she's probably not into me like that," she mumbles, moving to avoid your gaze and playing with the hem of her dress.
having had some alcohol yourself, the words tumbled out of your mouth before you could stop them. "I'd be into you," you freeze, covering your mouth as the fear she would make a big deal out of it began escalating—but were pleasantly shocked to see her laughing. lucy gray's laughter was contagious and you couldn't help but join along.
"yeah, right, spoken like the straightest woman I've ever met," she teases, your face scrunches up in confusion as you lean in to get a better look at her.
the face you were making scared lucy gray, as she thought she'd offended you for a moment and gasped, covering her mouth. "you know I'm not straight, right?" there's an oddly long silence as the two of you process what this means. . .
"I'm the girl, aren't i—"
"how long have you known—"
you both pause, before saying in unison, "you go first," the two of you burst into giggles again, before calming down.
"how long have you known you liked girls?" lucy gray asks calmly, fidgeting with her skirt now more than ever.
you shrug, "I've always known, I guess. how bout you?"
she bites her lip, sinking against the wall. "ever since you kissed my knee that one time," she confesses.
"that answers my other question I guess," you tease; her delighted smile warms your heart. she sits up properly, ready to kiss you when suddenly, you put you hand against her mouth. "I'm not billy taupe, I don't kiss drunk girls."
she groans, crossing her arms over her chest, "barely tipsy," she whined, her doe brown eyes never leaving your lips.
you laugh, shaking your head in disbelief, "ok, I don't kiss barely tipsy girls who can't walk in straight lines," you remind her.
"well, I can't walk in a straight line normally. . . matter of fact, I can't do much straight," she jokes, causing you to burst into laughter again.
when the two of you finally settle down, you lean in and give her a peck on the lips. "that's all you're getting from me tonight, sober up first," you demand.
lucy gray pouts, "fine. but you owe me that kiss, sugar," she winks at you.
"don't worry, after that song you wrote, I'm sure there'll be plenty of kisses in the future."

You had no reason to be this nervous.
That’s what you tried to convince yourself as you added the finishing touches to your outfit-a pair of teardrop shaped garnet earrings and an array of silver rings. You brought your hands down to smooth out your olive green dress, opting against wearing the flashy uniforms of the Academy.
The train carrying the tributes was due to arrive at the station in just under an hour, yet you had failed to get yourself to leave the comfort of your apartment. You wrote it off as being a perfectionist and wanting to make sure you embodied the glamour that was the Capitol. But you knew the truth deep down…
You were terrified.
Despite your outwardly confident and bold persona, you had always chased validation from anyone who would give it to you. After you had started expressing your distaste for the Capitol’s vision of the Hunger Games, your parents had almost seemed to forget you existed. Preferring to ignore you than to come to terms with the fact that their daughter was a district sympathizer.
So as you touched up your eyeliner, you started brainstorming ways you could win over Treech’s trust. You knew he wasn’t going to be pleased to have to talk to any Capitol citizen, especially after what you saw of him during the Reapings. The resentment, the bitterness, the disgust.
However Treech hadn’t been the only person who garnered your interest. The girl from District 12, Lucy Gray had put on a spectacular performance following her reaping. Despite her misfortune, she had shown an impressive amount of spunk and moxie. Something that immediately made you gain respect for the younger girl. Coriolanus, who had originally been displeased at being selected as her mentor, had reveled in the attention his tribute gathered, which had transferred over to him. That was the thing about Coriolanus, he loved people who benefited him. You could tell from the mere way he pretended to tolerate Sejanus’s presence. Tight lipped smiles and strained conversation, Snow wasn’t always the most discreet about his true feelings. No matter how many times the district boy tried to convince you of Coriolanus, your opinion hadn’t been swayed. You knew that deep down, the blonde had a small hope of working his way into Mr. Plinth’s good graces through Sejanus. He was a leech, as your grandmother would’ve said.
Gathering your canvas bag—which was filled to the brim with chicken salad sandwiches, water bottles, various fruits you had gathered from your kitchen, and freshly baked pastries, you made your way to the front door. Although you were only given the task of taking care of one tribute, it felt inhumane to only bring food for Treech. After hearing how some of your classmates reacted to their “unlucky picks”, you knew some—if not most of them wouldn’t bother to show up.
The walk to the train station helped to settle some of your anxieties. You adored the outdoors, and wished the Capitol had spared some of their natural forests and mountains instead of urbanizing every square foot of land they could take. The land that had remained untouched however, had been combed over by you, memorizing every blade of grass and every species of bird you came across. Many mornings where you allowed yourself to skip class had been spent taking nature walks with Sejanus, and even Clemmie and Lysistrata when they gave in to your pleading.
Despite your “radical ideals”, you still took pleasure in the company of several of your fellow peers. Before Sejanus moved to the Capitol, you, Lyzzie, and Clemmie had formed an unofficial friend group, spending your school days before the war weaving flower crowns and hosting elegant tea parties. Even now the three of you took care to ensure the longevity of your sisterhood, organizing girls’ days where you binged outlawed romcoms and ordered from whatever takeout sounded the most appetizing. This wasn’t to say they were your only friends, you and Diana were both fond of atronomy, and partnered with each other whenever the topic arose during class. And Festus had been known to forge late slips for you after one of your morning excursions, in exchange for some of your homeade sweets. Even Arachne, as stuck up and anti-district as she was, held a significant amount of respect for you, which you reciprocated. Both of you admired the other’s bluntness and unwavering loyalty to their respective opinions.
Your blissful reflection of your youth was interrupted by a rather grim thought, or rather a reality check. Twenty three kids were going to die. And while you had the privilege to lose yourself in your imagination of the freedom and opportunity you would be granted once you graduated from the academy, you had spared barely a single thought to the pour souls you were about to come face-to-face with. The weight of your bag pulling down on your shoulder eased some of your guilt. You couldn’t save them, but you could ensure they were well taken care of until the bitter end.
As you approached the entrance to the train station, you caught glimpse of a bright vermillion coat. The same coat you had chosen to bury deep in your wardrobe, in favor of a more approachable summer dress. Suddenly refreshed from the excitement of meeting another student, your pace picked up and you rushed around the corner to see which of your peers had had a similar idea to yours. Though to your dismay, you were greeted by the out of breath face of none other than Coriolanus Snow. He gripped a white rose firmly in his hand, his Academy uniform sticking out like a sore thumb against the muted colors of the train station. The peculiar color of the rose indicated he must’ve convinced his grandmother or ‘Grandma’am’ as he and Tigris affectionately referred to her as, to pluck one of her precious roses from her rooftop garden.
While you weren’t a fan of Coriolanus himself, the feeling didn’t extend to the rest of the Snow family. Tigris, his cousin was a stylist—though a heavily taken advantage one, at the boutique you often frequented with Clemmie and Lyzzie on your girls’ trips. The older cousin possessed a sweet and docile demeanor that made you instantly fond of her, often stopping by at the boutique for minor readjustments that you could’ve easily fixed on your own, just for the opportunity to converse with the tall blonde. You learned a lot about the Snow family from these visits; from Coriolanus’s childhood nickname, Coryo—which you found to be endearing despite his character, to the financial struggles they had burdened since they were both orphaned during the war. These small glimpses into the boy’s life had slightly altered the way you saw him. While you would never be able to trust the boy or let alone build a rapport with him, you sympathized with his struggles and hardships.
Lifting your gaze from your bulky canvas bag to the blonde boy standing in front of you, you offered him a gentle smile. Maybe he was maturing after all. Nobody else had bothered to show up for their tribute, not even Sejanus, thought that was most likely due to the dread of having to come face-to-face with a former classmate who viewed him as a traitor.
Coriolanus returned your gesture, though a bit more forced and strained on his part. His eyes were darting back and forth all around the train station, most likely looking for the train that would be pulling in any second now carrying the tributes.
Carrying Treech.
Your quickly spiraling thoughts were interrupted by a throat clearing. You turned to face Coriolanus, who looked as if he was about to speak to you, when the deafening sound of a train horn sounded from down at the end of one of the tunnels.
It was now or never.
Quickly making your way towards the edge of the tracks where the train was currently pulling in, you shuffled your canvas bag from one shoulder to the other. Suddenly quite fearful of the interactions that were about to take place. You hadn’t thought of if they had food allergies or not?? What if one of them was vegetarian?? Could you afford to be vegetarian in the districts?? Before your thoughts could spiral any further, a great fume of smoke erupted from the front of the train, the grand locomotive coming to a complete stop just feet in front of you. Snow wasted no time maneuvering around you and making his way to the back of the train cars, where Lucy Gray was bound to get off. You however, stayed where you were, rocking on the heels of your mary janes as you waited for the tributes from District one to disembark. You had managed to snag a sheet off of Dean Highbottom that contained a list of all the tributes names and their respective districts when he was to intoxicated to notice. A quick glance at your cheat sheet reassured your slight qualms over forgetting their names, Facet and Velvereen.
After a brief few moments of anticipation, the doors of the car flew open and two dirty sickly looking teenagers in matching white cardigans hobbled onto the platform. Facet going first and turning around to offer his assistance to Velvereen, a gesture which she gladly accepted. This small act of chivalry seemed to restore your confidence, and before you could think, your feet were moving towards the pair. A determined smile creeping up onto your face.
“Hi! Are either of you two hungry?”
The pair quickly spun around, eyes wide and startled as if they were frightened by the mere sound of your voice. Getting a good look at their faces for the first time, they looked quite different than the grainy images you had seen from a distance in the Academy. Facet’s golden hair was matted after days of travel, and Velvereen’s heart shaped face was rounded with a softness that made appear to be much younger than she actually was.
Sliding the canvas bag off your shoulder, you held out the bag for them. Offering the goodies and an encouraging smile.
Facet was the first to reach in, hesitantly pulling out a cherry danish before ultimately backing away. After catching a glimpse of the sweets her partner had pulled out, she deemed you safe enough to approach and reached in to grab two water bottles. A peacekeeper then approached, ushering the two to keep moving across the station. They were quick to scatter off, but not before Velvereen sent a soft smile your way.
Making your way down to the next train car, you were met by Marcus and his district partner, Sabyn, both looking weary and confused as they hopped onto the platform.
“Sandwiches? Water?” You offered, slightly intimidated by Marcus’s muscular stature. Sabyn didn’t seem to hold any of the hesitation the pair from District one had, and quickly reached in to grab two sandwiches and a brownie wrapped in tinfoil. She passed one of the sandwiches off to Marcus, and while he eyed you from where he stood, he quickly scarfed the sandwich without a complaint. Sabyn took her time, gently unwrapping the warm brownie from the tinfoil, almost as if she was scared it would disappear if she moved too fast. Once unwrapped, she too quickly ate her food, a satisfied sigh escaping her lips as her hand went towards the bag for a second. However, just as her hand grazed the canvas material, she seemed to recoil as if the bag was burning to the touch.
“It’s okay, you’re more than welcome to take a second.” You were beyond relieved that you were able to provide some sort of comfort after what appeared to be an exhausting journey. Meekly, Sabyn allowed herself to reach back into the bag, this time pulling out a slice of carrot cake. She quickly stowed the sandwich and baked good in her pocket before turning to Marcus, waiting to see if he would take anything. He shook his head, already paranoid at the vulnerability they were displaying to this stranger. Sabyn seemed disappointed by his reluctance but still gave a polite thank you before turning back to walk towards her partner.
Time seemed to fly as you made your way down the cars, stopping at each one to offer your depleting bag. The pair from District three seemed skeptical, but in the end the boy, Circ took a water bottle before the two were pulled away by peacekeepers. Coral from District four was put on defense as soon as you approached, but backed down when she saw how weary her district partner, Mizzen looked. The boy who couldn’t have been older than thirteen, shot out towards the bag after Coral gave him a nod of approval, ultimately grabbing a sandwich and chocolate chip cookie which seemed to intrigue him greatly. Coral gave a curt but polite thank you as she protectively led the now buzzing boy away. Hy and Sol from District five were too dehydrated to be cautious of the welcoming stranger before them, and immediately pulled out two water bottles which they proceeded to down in a few desperate gulps. You smiled at their eagerness and pulled out a few berry danishes, offering them to Hy who had finished his water first and was now wiping his mouth with the back of his dirty jacket. He gave a quick glance to Sol, who nodded encouragingly to him. He gingerly took the pastries, offering a dimpled smile before he and Sol were ushered across the platform. You moved down to the car which contained the pair from District six, Otto and Ginnee. While both appeared to be dehydrated and emaciated, they ultimately refused anything from the canvas bag, scattering off after being startled by a peacekeeper yelling a few meters away from the three of them. Shifting the bag back onto your shoulder, you made your way down to the next car, coming to a halt as you realized who you would be met by…
The doors to the car banged open, and a teary eyed girl you recognized as Lamina appeared in the shadows. The sight of you sent a small whimper to escape from her lips and the redhead quickly vanished back into the shadows as another face emerged.
Treech looked to be almost a completely different person than the one you remembered from the Reapings. His eyes no longer wide and fearful, but rather sharp and observant. His dark curls were still hidden underneath the worn out hat, and his well defined jawline twitched as he looked out across the station, not paying any particular attention to you. After a brief scanning he hopped down onto the platform, turning around to offer his hand to Lamina in a similar fashion to that of Facet. Lamina gingerly took his hand slightly stumbling off onto the platform as she braced herself against Treech’s shoulders. Now deciding that this would be the time to introduce yourself as his mentor, you cleared your throat before approaching the pair.
Lamina who had already noticed you, cowered behind Treech, very much still on edge from the Reapings as well as the train ride. Confused at Lamina’s sudden fright, Treech turned to see what had scared her, and was slightly shocked to see that it was not a peacekeeper or another tribute, but rather a girl.
“Hi, You must be Treech! i’m Y/N, your mentor!”

Sorry there isn’t as much Treech content this chapter as y’all probably wanted 😭. I don’t want to rush this series and want to spend the first few chapters really building the MC’s background. The good news is that my classes are dying down for winter break and i’ll be posting A LOT in the coming weeks, might even post a third chapter tomorrow 😌.
Would you guys like me to make a playlist to go along with this? Or mood boards?
xoxo

HIS BELLADONA treech x mentor reader
Pt.1, Pt.2, Pt.3
Tumblr media
The coolness on my skin was what woke me from a pleasant sleep. I roughly rubbed my eyes and sat up on the bed. With a yawn, I decided to quickly cross the small apartment to the bathroom. I tried to go as quietly as possible so as not to wake my father. Father, I still didn't know if the man sprawled across the old couch was still the same a smiling man who raised me with love. The war destroyed everything, the war took my mother, the war took my father. I slowly wash my face with cold water and stare at myself in the cracked mirror and all I see is the same face as the woman who gave birth to me and loved me, the face of the woman I watched as she slowly died next to me due to lack of food and illness. I remember the helplessness that her death brought because not only did I lose my mother, but her death destroyed the man who had once been her father. After the death of his wife, he began to seek refuge in morphine and alcohol, leaving the weight of the world on the shoulders of his eight-year-old daughter. The only thing that kept her and her father alive was her father's meager salary, the salary was high but father would rather buy morphine than make sure I had dinner and gifts from my father's friend Casca Highbottom. I tried to buy on the black market, I bartered what I could and thanks to that we survived. I was now in my final year at the academy and planned to study at university.I noticed a bruise on my hand in the mirror, my father had another rough night yesterday. Today was one of those days when it didn't fit today was a big day today was harvest for the 10th hunger games. I quickly got ready, chose my mother's favorite dark blue skirt, on which stars were embroidered with yellow thread, on top I took a black turtleneck, which very well covered my bruised arms and neck. I let my hair flow freely on my shoulders and assessed whether it was enough. Unfortunately, there was no time for any shortcomings, so I just grabbed my school bag and headed for the exit from the apartment. Just as I was closing the door to the apartment, I heard the door of the apartment above us close, it meant that Coryo was leaving, so I waited for him to run downstairs, where I joined him on the way to the academy.,,It's a miracle what Tigris did with that old shirt, you look very elegant." I complimented his appearance. Coryo just laughed, "You know snow closets are bottomless." I was the only one who knew about his situation and he knew about mine. I have known Coriolanus since I was a child, our mothers were friends with each other in the days after your mother's death, I lived with the Snows for a while, who helped me a lot at that time. On the way to the academy, we had a pleasant conversation, but when you walked in, Coryo took Clemensia away and I was left alone, but not for long because Lysistrata spotted me. "Hey (Y/N) you look beautiful." Lysistrata was the only one of my classmates that I would believe this compliment. She was very quiet but she was one of the nicest and fairest people I've ever met.,, Well miss Lysistrata it's harvest day of course I have to represent the Capitol." I said with a sneer in my voice. She rewarded me with her smile in return and we left to the hall where the harvest transmission started in no time. I sat in the back row together next to my friend and we waited patiently. But what I didn't expect was the news that each of the top 24 students will be assigned a mentoring tribute. We are going to turn them into a show for entertainment , that made me sick to my stomach. I exchanged a disgusted look with Lys next to me.,, As if it wasn't enough that they are going to die, we're going to force them to make puppets here." I whispered in Lys's ear and she just nodded in agreement. The dean began to read the names and the screens showed each tribute.,, And the male tribute from the 7th district belongs to Miss (Y/N) Belladon.” My breath hitched as I stared at the face of the boy I was to lead to his death. He was tall with dark curls and gorgeous brown eyes.
Treech was the name
Treech was the name of my tribute
