I MET GARY NUMAN LAST NIGHT!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He remembers the shirt I sent to him, and he still wears it. He also joked that he was going to steal the design and sell it in the UK. 😅 I reminded him that his merch guy was supposed to contact me (email) if they decide to turn it into merch. Then he said he wasn't going to steal it (of course) but that he really does like and wear it. Then I got some pics with him.
I mean....

That is all.
(Oh, but I also met Matthew Setzer who was playing with Front Line Assembly this year. He used to be in Skinny Puppy. Last year, Tim Sköld was filling this role; he's well known for being in KMFDM.)

I wish I had witnessed the technical difficulties in their "citation needed" or "two of these people are lying" days. Allthough I really enjoy what they are doing now, it's on a different more laid back level than those two chaotic series.
I really recommend it to anyone curious about humoristic trivia games. Tom Scott is a pretty good host, both in leading contestants and on his own, but matt grey, chris joel and especially gary brannan are simply too good at derailling any conversation.
highlights include:
the prizes at the end of most episodes of "citation needed" being crazy convoluted wordplays and alliterations
fish tank and people tank
a goose and a train
the chocolate war
a pope infestation
"and the wheel lands on... france"
tom scott awarding points for someone simply paraphrasing what he just said
Gary occasionnal throwing some of the wildest sounds a man can produce with his mouth
the tale of Henricus, the drunkard gaul prophet who came to rome
that time matt stated "I'm telling you, that's not mine" and Tom still went and picked his proposition
gary trapped in an endless giggle fit.
multiple instances of tom crossing off gary's proposition immediately, and being wrong half the time.
"so you think they just transported a flipping corpse to the house of Commons?"
Juan Pujol and Jack Churchill both being grandiose WWII mad lads in their own ways
the whole "hagia Sophia" debacle, from Tom being mocked by the commenters for not knowing it, to the terrible description which almost made me think I was mistaken, to the final twist ending
that one time one of the liers was accidentally closer to the truth than the one who was supposed to have picked the article
Tom being certain an airoport he actually went to didn't exist
Gary being a massive "old timey official documents" nerd, but also the man with the grossest jokes of the crew
on that point, "♪ have you ever seen your granny [...]"
hugging a penguin
"are you done?"

'Cillian Murphy strolled to the stage at the Golden Globes with dark red lipstick smeared all over his nose, and the collar of his Saint Laurent tuxedo shirt up, with no bow tie, looking like he'd rolled over from a massive one at Saltburn.
This was not the Cillian Murphy that the internet had been poking fun of for the last six months for his clear disdain for press attention. This was awards season Cillian Murphy. A different beast altogether. It had, in all honesty, been difficult to imagine him getting up on stage and saying "thank you to the Hollywood Foreign press" and all that. It didn't seem to be in his nature. But we should have known that the destroyer of worlds would rise to the occasion.
Picking up the award for best actor in a drama film, he showed the charisma that has gotten him through two decades in Hollywood. He had jokes (about Christopher Nolan having no chairs for actors on set), modesty ("One of the most beautiful and vulnerable things about being an actor is you can't do it on your own") and he thanked all the requisite power players: Universal Pictures, Oppenheimer producer Emma Thomas, his team.
He kicked things off extremely charmingly, by addressing the elephant in the room. “First question, do I have lipstick all over my nose?” And then when everyone shouted “yes!”: “I'm just gonna leave it.”
“I knew that the first time I walked on a Christopher Nolan set that it was different,” he said. “I could tell by the level of rigour, the level of focus, the level of dedication, the complete lack of seating options for any actors. I knew that I was in the hands of a visionary director."
He went on to shout out, by name, his castmates: Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr. and Gary Oldman. “Thank you for carrying and holding me through this movie.” He called his fellow nominees “legends” even the non-Irish ones (nodding to fellow countrymen Andrew Scott and Barry Keoghan). Then, he ended with a shout-out for his family.
It was a precisely measured and perfectly delivered awards speech. Afterwards, one thing became clear: He's ready for his Oscars moment.'

In other news, the LLE team continue to be the funniest people on the planet
[ID: Screenshot of a tweet from @/lateralcast (Lateral With Tom Scott). The tweet reads “Well, SOMEONE got zinged at today’s recording…”. There is a screenshot of a zoom call, presumably from a recording of Lateral. The four participants are Tom Scott in the top left corner, Ella Hubber in the top right corner, Caroline in the bottom left corner, and Tom Lum in the bottom right corner. Tom Scott is wearing his signature red tshirt and laughing. All the other participants are also wearing red tshirts. /END ID]

Please let the new Oppenheimer be a dark academia movie about obsession with knowledge, fascination with science, madness and loss of self-inhibition. And jazz of course.
