I would just like to say: wanting a SINGULAR DEBUT SONG ON THE SET isn't being greedy or ungrateful. As it was marketed as her preforming all the Eras and only so many dates getting every single one, it's disappointing it can't get a fucking guitar song. Red has a 10 minute song on the set that doesn't need to be. Debut literally built her career and it doesn't get acknowledged almost ever. Also, wanting the Fearless picture to change isn't greedy or ungrateful. The Fearless photo just looks fucking stupid. Every other era got a throwback photo and they were just like "Yeah Fearless had a tour and plenty of music videos, but let's put the album cover straight up on the design."

Summary: In which Oscar is his girlfriend's number one fan and advocate for getting onto the Formula 1 grid.

A/N: Like all the other requests, this one was just the best to make. I had to do such a deep dive into Oscar Piastri history because I wanted this idea to really work. This is actually the first of the "drabble" requests I have received so this is the first time you guys are seeing how I'm gonna approach those requests. So if you do ever just request a general "drabble", no specific prompt, I'm gonna put the story to a song that I think fits, unless you want to suggest a song. I do have an 83 hour playlist on Spotify, so if you don't have a song in mind that's fine by me 😁😁😁 Anyway, I hope you all enjoy, especially after Oscar's DNF today, I think this little bit of joy is needed. 2020; Start of the FIA Formula 3 Season

   “Okay, breath, Oscar. You can do this.” The pep talk is whispered from Oscar’s mouth as he mentally encourages himself to walk over to you, chatting away with other drivers as you guys wait for the driver meeting to begin. He starts to take a step, watching his feet and taking another deep breath, but when he looks back up again he's stopped in his tracks. It was like a spotlight shone on just you, teeth visible and accompanying the exuberant laugh coming from you, smiling glossy lips and hair half up in 2 fluffy ponytails. Everything around you came back into view when he watched you reach a hand out to push the shoulder of your teammate, Theo, after something he said. Oscar could only watch, waiting until the audience you had around you tapered off one by one.

   “That’s her, right?” Oscar jumps at Logan’s arm finding its way around his shoulders.

   “Yeah, that’s her.” Oscar practically sighs, cursing Theo who seems to linger around you a little longer.

   “She looks different. A really good different.” Logan keeps his attention on you as he speaks, so he’s caught off guard by the elbow Oscar throws into his side. “Alright, man. She’s yours.” He removes his arm from his friend so he could rub his hurting side.

   "No, that's not-" Oscar's hands run through his hair to express the conflict in his mind. How, yes he wanted you to be his because he has had a crush on you since you both were 10, but also that he was trying real hard to not make a fool of himself because you've only met twice, once when you guys were 10 and once when you were 14. But both of your rises up the karting ranks, champions in your own rights, all the way up to your F3 debut has been public. So it wouldn't be crazy for him to tell you he remembers you, right?

   "Well, whatever it is, now's your chance. She's alone." Logan briefly points your direction and sure enough, there you were, tapping and scrolling on your phone, beautiful face in a neutral position that made your lips pout.

   "You know what? Maybe I don't-" Oscar starts to back track, stunned by you, but Logan turns him back around and starts to push him over there.

   "No, you've been talking about this for a week straight. If you guys aren't sucking face by the end of the month, I'm writing a formal complaint." Once considered to be within earshot, Logan starts talking about something random, something that goes in one of Oscar's ears and out the other, his heartbeat pounding in his head as he gets close. "Oh hey, I'll be right back I, uh, there's something over there…" Logan gives Oscar one last pat on the back and walks off. For Oscar, the world went silent when you looked up at him, enticing brown eyes putting a shame to his own, lips starting to curl into a polite grin until you get a good look at him, and tilt your head as you visibly began thinking about where you've seen him before. Oscar clears his throat.

   "Hi, uh, I don't- I'm, uh, I'm Oscar." He holds out his hand for you to shake. Your hand is nice in his, soft despite calluses that have developed from years of driving, but fit like a puzzle piece. He forced himself to keep his eyes on yours, though it was hard for him to look at you, an angel among men, without doing something drastic.

   "Y/n." Your hands linger in each others for a moment after the greeting, but once you pull back your hand you cross your arms and bring an amused smile to your face.

   "I don't know if you remember me. We've, um, raced each other a couple times before…" Oscar had no idea what to do with his hands. He wanted to touch you, so bad. Wrap his arms around your waist and push the bit of curly hair that escaped to your shoulder back to its place and wait for it to happen again just so he can be as close as possible to you. Instead he settles with rubbing the nape of neck with one hand and the other waving mildly as he spoke.

   "Oh, I remember you. But a couple times…I only remember when we were 10. Karting in Australia. I remember because I lost badly to you." You smile and he melts, and your laugh almost makes him miss what you said.

   "Wait, when we were 10, you finished second." He copies you and crosses his arms, that being his best bet of keeping his hands to himself.

   "Okay, yeah. By like 4 seconds. That's quite the gap." You look down to pick at your nails, but then jerk your head back up as Oscar's words come back to you. "Okay, so 10, but when was the second time?"

   "We were 14. Australia again." He uncrosses his arms and brings his hands to his hips when he sees the confusion on your face. "You won! You beat my ass, actually. By nearly 8 seconds. Logan got third." You thought about it for a moment, eyebrows scrunching as memories moved through your brain, but it was obvious the moment you remembered because a large grin that revealed a dimple in your left cheek spread across your face.

   "Okay I remember that. I also remember you doing, like, everything you could for me after. I asked you why and you simply said 'Because you won.' and I asked no more questions after that." You chuckle, bringing a hand to your forehead. "It didn't help that I had a major crush on you, too. I was on cloud nine that entire weekend."

   "Oh, you had a crush on me?" The snarkiness of his inquiry far from matched the speed of his heart and the drop in temperature of his hands.

   "Don't make fun of me, okay? I was 14, and apparently had a thing for Australians with floofy hair." You motioned at his hair, then replaced your hand on your hip. "I've since gotten over it, but I guess you'll be delighted, and me thoroughly embarrassed, to hear that you and Ashton Irwin from 5 Seconds of Summer took turns being my hand when I used to practice kissing." Something got into you in that moment, where it was more important for you to let it be known to Oscar the intensity of your old crush on him, like it would have any influence on your current curiosity.

   "Oh. Ha. Well, the feeling was mutual. But, I mean, what boy wouldn't have a crush on the girl who beat them at karting?" Oscar shrugs with his arms still crossed, head tilting toward his left shoulder with the movement. 

   "It's only natural." You both giggle at the interaction, the words and the timing.

   "Well, I think Logan, Frederik and I are trying to figure out something to do tonight, you know after all of the media festivities. Would you want to come? And Theo, too. I don't know what you usually do pre-race weekend, but…" Oscar trails off as he uncrosses his arms and places them in his pocket, looking everywhere but you, subconsciously looking for Logan so he knows what direction to go if he needs to make a quick getaway.

   "I think I can find some time to hang out with a couple of old fans." Your smile nearly knocks Oscar off his feet, literally, because after you accepted his invitation, he heard Logan calling for him, to which he automatically started moving in that direction making him stumble over his own feet, but luckily he catches himself.

   "Okay, good-uh, cool. I'll, um…I'll text you the plans once we figure them out." He starts to jog away, confident in what had just taken place.

   "You'll need my number for that." You stayed in place, arms crossed, smiling when Oscar turns around to jog back to you.

   "You are correct." Oscar gives you a beaming smile as he reaches for your phone while pulling out his.

2022; Your 2nd Formula 2 Season, Oscar's Alpine Reserve Season

   "Hey, baby. Did you just get home?" You wave to one last person as you leave the Alfa Romeo facility in Zurich, harshly inhaling as you step out into the nippy mid-October Swiss air.

   "Yes, after a long day in the sim. I see you're just leaving, too. It's, like, 7pm there, right?" Oscar props his phone on the bottle of cooking oil next to him at enough of a distance so you can see most of him while he's cooking his dinner.

   "If it 6pm in Enstone, theennn…." You flash a bright cheeky smile at your sarcasm as you spot your car and head over to it.

   "I am not afraid to hang up." Oscar chuckles, briefly looking at the phone while his hands are occupied sautéing vegetables.

   "Yes you are, you love me too much." You unlock your car and quickly get in, recoiling from the slight relief that you got from the cold temperature outside. "You also know I could beat you in a fight." You start up your car and allow it to warm up, placing your phone in the holder on the dashboard and removing your coat to toss it in the seat next to you.

   "Correct on both points." He pushes his phone back slightly to open up the counter so he had somewhere to place the package of sausages. "You had a couple of workouts today?"

   "And a quick sim session and, uh, a meeting. With Fred." You put your car in drive and pull out of the parking spot that you had backed into.

   "You were going to talk to him today weren't you? How did that go?" Oscar was fully invested in what you had to say, to the point where he turned off the burners on his stove and sat down on a stool at the counter.

   "Well," You chuckle sarcastically thinking about the interaction, trying to bring yourself to talk about it. "It wasn't bad, just…disappointing." You sigh, looking left and right before leaving the Alfa Romeo campus and entering the main road.

   "Oh no," One thing Oscar has always done was sympathize with you whenever you felt a strong emotion. You were happy, he was ecstatic. You were mad, he was furious. So when he heard the annoyance and sadness in your chuckle and sigh, he wished he could jump through the screen to comfort you and ring the neck of whoever made you feel that way, which seems to be Fred Vassuer at the moment. 

   "I asked about the possibility of being a reserve driver or something for Alfa next year. He wasn't rude or anything, I think he actually liked the idea, but in the end he just told me to keep my head down and focus on racing. He also said that while it is nice to be up with the F1 teams, it would be a waste of my driving talents to not be racing on a grid next year, so I think that was his way of telling me it's F2 again next season." You flick on your turn signal and move into a turn lane, slightly more irritated than usual at the slow driver that was in front of you.

   "That's stupid." That was all Oscar could say as he set down the phone and ran his fingers through his hair.

   "But it was weird because, the way Fred was talking, it was like he had no control over what happens once the season is done." When Oscar picks up his phone again he couldn't help but calm down slightly at your driving concentration face that occasionally turns towards him. "Also, he has never been so adamant about me doing something as much as he was about me staying in a position where I can drive, even if it is F2 again. So, I guess I'll go with it, but I'm not happy about it." You stop at a light and lean back into your seat. You both sat in tense silence, Oscar waiting to see if you had anything else, and you waiting to see if Oscar had any words of wisdom or mutual anger. 

   "Let's go to Paris." Oscar's words shocked you, even more than the honk behind you that signaled for you to go before anyone got too mad. 

   "What?" You were tempted to pull over so you could watch Oscar's face as he spoke, to see if he was just kidding you, but you kept on heading home.

   "Next week. I'll be at the Viry HQ all week next week, but I'm off during the weekend, and I'm sure you are too. I'll fly you out there. You need to decompress from all of this." He stands up from the stool to head back to his stove, completely serious about his suggestion.

   "Really? I love Paris." You start eyeing fast food restaurants the closer you got to home. Maybe it would be too bad to stop for food.

   "I know, we'll go to that little café you like. Go to every park we can find. Go to the Louvre so you can look at the art and I can watch you look at the art." He smiles to himself as he cuts up a sausage to toss into another pan.

   "Why not just look at the art?" Your stomach rumbles as the smell from a restaurant wafts into your car as you wait at another red light.

   "Because, I think it's much more interesting to watch art look at art, and I think myself lucky to be able to do so." You knew this light was long, so you had enough time to stare at Oscar after his cheesy pick up line.

   "That was terrible, but…I'll agree to the Paris weekend. As long as there are more jokes like that." You start to drive again as the light turns green.

   "No promises. Bad jokes are my MO." Oscar pours the cooked vegetables onto a white plate. "On another note, I see your eyes looking that the restaurant while you drive. I was there when you were cooking your meal prep a couple of days ago. Get home and eat that so you can go to bed." 

   "Fine." You finally stop searching for a good restaurant and set your sights on home, which was your original plan, but you liked it when Oscar instructed you to take care of yourself. So, home you went, you and your boyfriend blabbing each other's ears off.

2023; Your 3rd Formula 2 Season, Oscar's 1st Formula 1 Season ; Spa- Belgian GP

You park your car in front of the first place sign in parc ferme and quickly and somewhat clumsily remove the steering wheel, climb out your car and replace it, hands shaking from nerves and exhaustion after a hard fought race in the rain. You, first, place your hands on the halo, taking a few deep breaths and grounding yourself to the present, something necessary for you after each race because for you, racing is an out of body experience, something where you are a heightened version of yourself and at a certain point it feels like your watching from a third person view. Once back to the present, you go to get weighed and take note of the cheering. Loud cheering. Much louder than when you normally win. You turn and see your team excited for you and you’re startled when you feel Theo run up and hug you tight once he gets off the scale, yelling something that you didn’t quite catch because he still had his helmet on. You spot your boyfriend and head his direction, confused at the wide smile he had on his face.

   “Do you know what you just did?” He had his hands on your shoulders, but you felt a third one touch your shoulder blade when Arthur, who got third in the Sprint, came up behind you.

   “Congratulations. You deserve it after the drive you just had. P5 to P1.” You were looking at everyone wide eyed. Did you just do what you think you did? You knew you were ahead in the championship, only needing a few more points to be considered champion because no amount of points would allow anyone to surpass you.

   “Did I do it? Drivers’ Championship?” Your voice was light and airy as your gaze switched between Oscar and Charles, who you just then realized was there.

   “You did it baby! I knew you could!” You stood in shock, grateful Oscar’s hands were at your waist because you needed to stay steady. As soon as it sunk in you wrapped your arms around Oscar’s neck and started bawling. You worked so hard to get here, tiring yourself out mentally, physically and emotionally. You felt like you were going nowhere but now here you are, your name etched into the history books forever. Oscar consoled you, rubbing your back, and then sent you in the direction of your parents, to whom you continued to bawl on. Nearly every person you encountered received tears somewhere on their person, but luckily by podium time you had no more tears left, so you were able to enjoy your champagne celebration without the embarrassment of crying, Oscar watching happily below until he received a tap on his shoulder.

   “I expected nothing less from Yn. She has been amazing since you guys were in F3.” Charles pats Oscar’s back as he turns his attention back to the podium where you and his brother were knocking champagne bottles before taking a swig. 

   “I know. I’m glad she got this chance but, I can’t help but be pissed because even with all of this,” Oscar waves his hand at the excitement. “She has yet to receive any offers. Even from her own driving academy.”

   “Well, I’m sure they’ll start rolling in now. You’ve just got to be patient.” Charles takes off after that to get one more chance to see his brother before getting ready for the Qualifying day, leaving Oscar to stew.

   “To hell with patience.” Oscar says under his breath before pulling out his phone and walking to go meet you with your parents, taping something angrily out on his phone.

   “So, Oscar, before we let you go we wanted to ask about the tweet you sent out after Yn’s Sprint Race win that secured the driver’s championship for her. What was going on in that moment as you were tweeting that out?” Oscar looked slowly, wide eyed toward his PR manager who shot daggers through him with her eyes, urging him to not speak which for him wasn’t an option. He was finally given the platform to truly speak on this, but he had to be careful. 

   “Um, I’ll just answer this briefly because I do have to get going, but…Yn has proved herself time and time again how great of a driver she is. Today was the ultimate testament to that. So it’s up to the teams now, seeing who’s gonna take that leap. Thank you.” Oscar is quickly ushered away, quickly heading back to the McLaren motorhome to recoup before qualifying.

   “You just had to, huh?” His PR manager taps her foot and she scrolls and types something out quickly.

   “Yes. And it felt amazing.” Oscar lays his head on the tall counter next to him, smiling like a clown down toward the floor before turning to the woman next to him, who lets a satisfied grin flash briefly on her face.

   “Fine. I guess it was for a good cause. But please, warn me next time.” The exhausted woman pleads with the smiling boy, twisting her phone in her hand as she waits for the greatly needed confirmation.

   “Yes ma’am.” He wraps an arm around her and hugs her close, to which she pulls back since he was still sweaty from the third practice session.

   “Now go to the debriefing meeting before you get in trouble for being late, too.” Oscar does as he is told, jogging off to the computer filled room to first be scolded before the important pre-qualifying meeting got underway.

Hi. In the spirit of understanding, and well, just trying to be objective given all the noise around Jimin sabotage (which you’ve already spoken about), what I really want to understand is why solos are pushing the narrative that Scooter and Bang PD hates Jimin.

I don’t like Scooter. But I really want to understand if there’s a valid reason for Jimin biases or solo stans to say he hates Jimin? Other than promoting Jungkook I’ve not seen Scooter promote any other member as heavily. Maybe it’s because I don’t care about him/don’t follow him.

There’s the narrative that BangPD also hates Jimin and while I don’t believe that in its entirety, I do feel that based on how Jimin’s debut happened and how he was denied vocal lessons, there may have been some form of either mistreatment or sentiment of discrimination as far as he is concerned. Though, Jimin also said that he was vocal about some of the songs (DNA) and also think BangPD was instrumental in Lie. That’s doesn’t speak to a broken relationship.

You must be new here Anon. Everybody hates xyz member until the wind blows a different direction. These are the same groups of people who think Jungkook hates Jimin. PDogg hates Jimin. Late last year and early this year when we got the pics of Jimin eating and drinking with Bang PD, spending time in his home etc, that was all an elaborate ruse for Bang PD to shaft Jimin three months later.

Fuck solos man. I don't even like Bang PD but when solos come which such inane theories, just stating the obvious sounds like you're defending the man.

BTS and Jimin can have their relationship with Bang PD. I don't know what exactly that relationship is, but it's easy to eliminate most of the outlandish conspiracies coming out of the akgae faction of the fandom just by using the little grey cells in your head. In my opinion.

Scooter is an opportunist. He's also very useful given how the US music industry is filled with swindlers. But BTS have dealt with opportunists before, I'm confident they're capable of getting what they want out of a business relationship with Scooter, and so far, besides the subpar quality of songs and collabs we've seen in the last year or so, nothing about their relationship draws my fascination or concern.

[the anon from the "not-a-company-stan" answer] in the age where artists are getting their fame from tiktok (ice spice comes to mind) this idea of being in a notorious company really fades. there are artists in big companies that get nothing (be it kpop or apop), and artists without a company that go viral and famous and rich. ice spice has put out more music and getting more promo (a song in the barbie movie) in a shorter amount of time than some artists that have been stuck in a notorious label for years with no album (chloe, normani). i think it's just outdated to think an idol has to stay with their group company. blackpink didn't, CBX didn't, DO didn't, LAY didn't. they are proving it's perfectly doable to stay with their group work in their previous company but manage their own solo work separately. it seems a new paradigm is coming and idols aren't afraid to do what's best for them with the fear of being blacklisted by sm. i don't think they would take their solos elsewhere if sm was handling them well. there must be a good reason to leave for other companies, going as far as setting up a new whole company for themselves. in bp's case it's obvious, everyone knows that yg blocked work offers for the members, and they are huge now, so staying would be detrimental. if companies were stepping up and doing the best for an idol's solo work then they wouldn't leave, right? that's what sounds logical to me. also sm is so shady financially speaking lmao. maybe i don't pay taxes cuz i don't qualify for it, but i am trusting CBX knows what's best for them when they choose to leave. and if jaedo ever leaves with their solo work, i will know they are doing the best for themselves too cuz they know their reality better than we do.

Didn't I just say that staying with one's own company is not always the best solution? That both being in a big company and moving to a smaller company has its downsides? Where did I say that companies always do the best for their idols? Show me in my texts.

Lay was supported by LSM financially, he was given a company by him, plus Chinese market is a different from Korea thing. In the first place Lay left because of the Chinese ban on Korean companies and Korean idols. Lay had limited number of days he could leave his country. Apaprently, he was a winner of an idol-show and was supposed to debut in a group, but was evicted due to surfaces rumours about his behaviour in school. He changed companies. He was mistreated by his original company, he had the reason to start anew. He debuted. Good for him.

Now, back to Taeyong and JaeDo. Tae got two solos in a span of a year. With his own songs. Does he need to leave SM? JaeDo, a gay couple, got themselves a unit with only one additional member, Jaehyun can flirt with his bae openly without a break during their promotion. Both will get solos in 2024. Do they need to leave this year? Before enlisting and a break away from the public of 2 years?

SM is not just executives who steal money, it's personelle. Managers, choreographers, make up artists, songwriters and in-house producers like Kenzie and Deez - all those people who have seen neos grow up, who like them and go drinking with them, to whom neos send presents and go to their weddings, who can go an extra mile and write a personal song (Kenzie, MinGtion) or make BA ugly clothes presentable, fit to elevate the idol they like. It's a community. To uproot and go elsewhere is to leave most of them behind, start from scratch, waste years of earned advantage.

Ten recently said he doesn't know his schedule, he wakes up and goes where his manager tells him. You think it's because he is kept in the dark? Somehow Do knows his own schedule better than his own manager. No, it's because an idol has a ton of things to do, there is no room for other things like learning lore or itirenary.

Self-managing, being a CEO of one own's company sounds fancy, but what does it entail? Lay attened a business school, mind you. Where is the guarantee the financial guys you'll hire won't steal money from you? Or that the new producer will allow you creative freedom? Investors are the same, they want money, not art.

It is known that right now SM is lacking personelle, it is in a transitional period. The dividion into centres, and tuning those centres will take time. Those, who can't wait or whom managers left to produce for newer groups, have reason to find a new team outside to manage their solo activities. Again, without breaking off of the awful SM completely. Kyuhyun was present on the last SMTown, what gives?

We don't know the future. SM can really change for the worse. However, currently it is far from the worst company to be in. Music wise the best among the biggest ones.

Honorable Mentions

Three posts simply were not enough for last week, but alas, I am only one person and my attention span is only so long (ADHD kicks my ass on the daily, but we soldier on through the obsessive minutes of productivity and the hours long spells of procrastination). That’s all to say, I’d love to rapid fire through a few thoughts before tomorrow’s drops because it’s going to be a doozy this week. Jaguar II, Yours Truly Deluxe, Miley, and if I’m feeling generous, I might even give Aubrey a listen. Let’s hop in >>>

Better Things – Aespa: I personally like this sound on Aespa. It fits their voices well; they shine the most when they can flex their vocal technique. It’s clean and the video reflects the brightness. Now, does it suffer from the SM Ent. trademark tone shift and break*? Absolutely. But as per usual, once you get past the first listen and you expect it, it’s not as jarring, [*I’ll go into more depth about this in a different post but iykyk]

HOT TO GO! – Chappell Roan: This blurb is more of an excuse to celebrate the fact that an album is finally coming for the Pink Pony Club. For all of the girls, gays, and theys, if you’re not on Chappell, don’t walk, RUN. After a string of clever, charming, and just damn catchy singles, she’s finally announced her debut album. HTG! Is just as fun and poppy as the rest boasting a chant along chorus that is impossible not to join in. This is a win for people who a) are hot, b) love pink, and c) are kind of annoying, but did I mention the hot part? Go listen. 

Rainy Days – V: I’ve touched on this a little, but I’m just so charmed by V as an artist. I think there’s a clear vision here and it’s a little melancholy, but so warm it feels like the sadness is immediately being nursed by the most comforting hug. Some solo stans are upset about the general reception or lack thereof, but I think we’ve got to look at a few key factors here– Taehyung is doing the promo he wants. He’s mentioned that the company would do more, but he just wants to take the simple route, which I believe is indicative of the genre. Point blank period, R&B does not get the same reception as Pop songs. It’s just the nature of the beast. As I’ve mentioned, some songs are formulated to be radio smashes and they absolutely kill because that’s what they’re designed to do. V is making the music he wants knowing that there’s going to be a muted response and he’s cultivating a space for that. You either rock with it, or you don’t. I for one cannot wait to be cozy listening to this album in the fall. Which brings me to my one grievance: this is not the music to release (even pre-release) in Summer. Pumpkin spice lattes aren’t even available yet, and we’re looking for rainy days. In Min Hee Jin  we trust (I know a lot of people have issues with her, and I probably will never go out of my way to speak about NwJns because some of them are minors and I do not wish to engage minors, but you cannot deny that she curated a great second mini album for them that will transition from Summer to Fall seamlessly) and I know this album is going to be very well produced and he doesn’t necessarily have a ton of say in when he is able to release for various reasons, but I do wish the winter bear was able to reclaim his season. 

New Dance– XG: This one is kind of cheating timeline wise, but I don’t have a ton of thoughts. The song is a well produced homage to the early 2000s hip hop we all (hopefully) know and love. The easy acoustic rhythm and well handled rap verses are easy listening at its finest. I wish this was the follow-up to ‘Grl Gang’ instead of ‘TGIF’ so that it could’ve been released a little earlier in the Summer (I guess I’m not getting over this season thing, but I really think it makes the difference.) There’s a lot of potential here, maybe even another 2000s legend collab could’ve happened earlier in the Summer. Tap Nelly to give you a verse a la ‘Ride With Me’ which this song clearly calls back to. It works for XG to draw on nostalgia to draw in their audience.  Once you’ve got the eyes, experiment on the album which isn’t coming for a while yet.

Unreal Unearth – Hozier: When the woodland fairy king comes a callin’, I answer. There are some bangers on this one. 

AR - EP – Addison Rae: I only listened to the Charli XCX feature because of course, but I’m a little intrigued to listen to it? From what I can tell, the gays have claimed Ms. Addison, which I’m not fully sold on, but I can’t say the marketing isn’t there. Might listen for science. 

[TBR] Snow Angel – Renee Rapp: I like her as a person, therefore I need to give this the time of day before I listen to Addison. I’m always going to favor queer representation over a cosign.

let's start from the bottom!

10) pip

i like pip for all the different reasons compared the usual ones. I love characters getting ripped on for their passiveness/kindness in this show and it only makes the town consensus that everyones and asshole even funnier. i think his voice is a little annoying but i actually enjoy it at the same time. "pip" is one of my favorite episodes because of how absurd it can get and is a great start to making more spin off episodes. i really like this stupid british kid, rip pip!

9) jimmy

JIMMY THAT FUNKY LITTLE COMEDIAN!!! i love him, he's legit really funny and i love all of his episodes. even with his speech impediment being the reason why you're supposed to think hes funny, he's genuinely funny on his own with his personality and snarkiness. beloved little man. also his debut episode also includes my blog's namesake. bring back the scouts!!

8) heidi

she's smart and funny

ok no shes SO SWEET. i care her so bad, i genuinely love her character and she is probably the saving grace about season 20. i actually was invested in seeing her grow and seeing her on screen just made me happy especially if her overt kindness was the butt of a joke. i don't like heiman but they were so entertaining together, maybe it was just how horrible they were when eachothers presence that I liked. god I miss her so much

7) craig

poor craig has been a victim of so much bad characterization but my love for his actual character in the show is so good. i love the pandemic trilogy so much, craig definitely shines there with his aloof attitude and disdain for the boys. i miss when he'd always be known for flipping people off, getting in trouble, and just not giving a fuck. but also he's still very much so a kid with kid interests!

6) henrietta/the goth kids

i feel like the goth kids are a full package, but since henrietta is probably considered "the face" of the group ill say she's my favorite. i love her specific dialogue the most she contrasts so well with her family and it doesnt fail to make me laugh. also, shes genuinely really cool along with the rest of the goths. like why do their outfits pop off.. and for what. also the goth storylines are also so fucking hilarious, i love goth kids 3 so much its probably a top 5 ep for me.

5) david

hes beaner.. jus like me🥺 NO, GENUINELY THERE IS A BIAS WHEN IT COMES TO HIM BUT I DONT CARE. david, like most of everyone in my top 5 has so much nostalgic value to me. i remember watching you're not yelping for the first time and being completely enamored with him right when he showed up on screen with his familia<3. i do genuinely love the role he plays in that episode and even the minor specs of him in season 19, seeing him makes me so happy. also i love the fact he was just so ready to kick cartman's shit in, what a king.

4) tweek

tweek is so funny. his delivery. his dialogue. his body language. god i love that little meth head. he also suffers from mischaracterization but my love for him surpasses any shitty fandom interpretation. free hat is one of my favorite episodes and his arc in that ep is PRICELESS. only tweek would respond to "what do you see as a positive about toddler murder" with "its easy" absolutely iconic, pinnacle of humor, it makes me collapse every time. also hes pretty unpredictable and i love his spontaneous nature.

3) stan

stan definitely is one of the fandom favorites for so many reasons but i just know that ive genuinely really liked him since forever. one of my favorite episodes (and possibly underrated stan episodes) is stanley's cup, it's just such a good episode and observation of his character along the lines of ygo/ab. i like the place he as as the most sensitive out of the main four while still having an intense passion for things he feels strongly about too amongst other traits.

2) rebecca

rebecca is probably one of the first, if not the first one shot character i grew attached to. at the ripe age of 8 fucking years old I remember watching homp and thinking she was the cutest thing ever. i also really loved her romance with kyle (kybecca 4lyfe) so that also pushed me to REALLLLLY like her. she's also genuinely really interesting with her speech delivery and (once) sheltered view on life. i know we will probably never see her again but i pine for the day that we do even if its just a mention or cameo. i love her so much oh my god.

>> he has spent his whole life around people who make assumptions about him. not only his parents, who are both accomplished and awarded actors who believed their only son would naturally take after them and flourish in the spotlight, but his whole persona basically relies on that too.

Sakusa Kiyoomi has a habit of watching you count the stars in the night sky while he counts the amount of times you tap your finger to the beat of an unheard song.

He thinks you look serene. Sparkling eyes, breathy laughs, and promises whispered into the listening ears of the night sky that knows nothing but patience. Patience, the only thing the skies hold, because for eons it’s done nothing but watch the earth flourish from molten rock and angry seas into a garden of lush green and oceanic blue.

The sole witness to the birth of life.

Life from the earth, from its beginning and ultimately its inevitable end, and life—like what the both of you hold. Except this time, the life you hold compared to the life of the world is comparable to just a flicker in the eyes of the skies that was older than even time.

And in a way, it terrifies Sakusa. For when he looks at you, with the look of awe always a constant on your features—he knows you’re daydreaming to one day walk with the twinkling stars you find comfort in night after night. But he supposes that because in truth, much like you, he is as fleeting as the faintest flicker of a shooting star as it’s seen from earth—when the time is right and the earth deems it’s time to take him too, he’d be among the stars with you.

So he begins to tell you “I love you.”

And the two out of the three time he says them, he’s lucky enough that you’re still next to him.

The first is when you wake. Because he thinks your eyes still hold the swirls of the galaxies you drowned yourself in the night before. That even when you lay next to him, with your eyes closed and sleep still evident by the features on your face—he knows that though your body succumbs to the pull of earth’s gravity, your mind in your sleep was always wandering somewhere far, far away.

Then when you wake, where every morning your eyelids would flicker open just as the sun behind the blinds would peek through the corners of the window, Sakusa can only think that he’s in the presence of the brightest star itself.

“Good morning,” you’d mumble and each and every time he’d never fail to notice how your voice, though still laced with sleep, would always sound the most alive like as if you’d just finished the grandest adventure of your life.

So, “I love you,” would be his reply, and Sakusa always hopes that it was enough to ground you right back to the earth—with him.

Though ironically enough, the second time he tells you is in the hours when you are asleep.

After all, it’s in those hours where he thanks the heavens for letting him walk the earth with you in the same lifetime. He thinks the both of you may have chased each other in different centuries; bearing different names, speaking different languages even, and perhaps may have been fighting in the opposite sides of a war. But he finds that when the world is as asleep as you are, the way your face would fit into the crook of his neck just felt a heartbreaking sort of familiar. The way you’d sigh with whatever was happening in your dream sounded like he’s heard it before.

Sakusa thinks that maybe you killed each other in the past life, because the space between your chest right above your heart was the spot where you bruised the easiest. And every time he’d lay his ear on your chest to listen to your heartbeat, he could feel his heart throb all the way to where his palms would sting.

And when you’d kiss him on his forehead, next to the two moles above his eyebrow, he’d always think about a bullet shooting straight through his head.

When he told you, the way you’d fold one arm over the other and clench your fists wouldn’t fly past him either. “But we love each other now, don’t we?” is what you always told him, and Sakusa can’t find words to retaliate to your statement with because the ache in both of your hands would go away as soon as your lips met halfway.

So “I love you,” Sakusa would whisper when you slept, but it was really more of a thank you to the world listening outside.

The third time he says it, is when the earth took you back and decided that it was time for you to walk with the stars.

And Sakusa sits in the spot where you used to. The spot in your balcony, a little to the left and away from the edge of the neighbor’s space so when you’d turn the right way it felt like the world in front of you was yours alone.

By this time, Sakusa loses count of the years that passed from the last time you were there with him. Because when the sun dips, the moon soars, and the twinkle of the stars make their debut, time in those hours for him are so, so still. He still feels your head on his shoulder, and when he closes his eyes he can hear the rhythmic tap of your finger that’s in beat with a song he knows only you can recall.

And when he opens his eyes, the stars above always twinkle in the way he knows in his heart you’d smile fondly to. So in those moments, as he takes a sip of the drink you’ve always tried getting him to like, even though the world—as still as it is and as it feels—he pretends that he can still see you trace constellations with the tips of your fingers and pretends as if he can still hear you tell him stories of the universes that are lying in wait out there.

Because Sakusa Kiyoomi practically begs you’re out there.

Even though it’s been years to him, he knows that under the night sky it’s only been a flicker. And perhaps the flicker of the stars above that by now he’s found a strange sense of comfort in meant that they were only the faint image of souls passing to and through the threshold of life and time themselves.

Maybe you were one of those flickers; momentary from his view on earth, but already a lifetime from wherever the course of fate took you to.

So with that, Sakusa Kiyoomi, for the rest of his lifetime never dropped the habit of watching for the stars. For you. And when the night sky is the brightest, that’s when he chooses to close his eyes.

Because with his eyes closed, this time around he’s the one raising his hands to the sky tracing the pattern of the constellations he’s seen you do over and over again in hopes that the deities would look down from their throne in the skies and take pity on the human whose life is only a flicker instead of a slow blink. With the lingering taste of strawberry in his lips, he says your name, then “I love you,” again and again as if his confessions with your name would become a prayer.

That when his time comes, and his body returns to the earth as his soul soars to the heavens, that maybe somewhere up there he’ll cross paths with you and you’ll wake up next to each other in the next life. Your hands on each other’s chests—the familiar tingle on your palms the only hint that once upon a time, you lived a life where you chased one another.

And “I love you,” Sakusa thinks to himself.

As he sees another star flicker in the distance, he swears that instead of hello, when he meets you in the life after this, “I love you,” would be the first words he’d say.

1. Since when have you been a P1ece?

I did hear about them predebut, but around debut day was when I officially stanned.

2. What made you decide to stan P1H?

I saw a P1ece who compiled a bit of their vlives, and they were quite funny and had good chemistry. I was also amazed by their dancing as well, which I'm glad they got to showcase. Also, I kinda heard Jongseob was debuting? I had binge-watched YG Treasure Box months prior in preparation for Treasure's debut and had wondered about what a lot of the trainees were doing now. Glad he's here now!

3. Who is/are your bias(es)? Is your first bias still your current bias? If not, who was it before that?

Keeho. I don't really change biases, yes it's still Keeho.

4. Your favourite era so far?

Disharmony : Stand Out aka Siren era because classic!

5. Your favourite title track/MV?

Siren in terms of music, although I have to admit Do It Like This MV looks really nice, especially the end of it.

6. Your fav P1H choreo?

Pyramid and Butterfly (dance practices where?)

7. Your fav b-sides?

This is so hard I'll just do 3: AYAYA, Butterfly and Follow Me. Honestly, I like their whole discography (especially Disharmony : Break Out as a whole).

8. Your fav cover of theirs?

It was a 1theK vocal cover where they sang various songs, the link speaks for itself. Really gave me an insight into the history that various songs have had..

All of their covers are quite good.

9. Any P1H video you keep coming back to?

That vlive where they knock over the TV, twice. I loved watching them play Superstar FNC. Also, any dance video they post, I will come back to that because damn. There's a lot of videos of them I come back to, but we'll save me gushing about the Stage + performances until next question.

10. Have you watched their little STAGE + performances? What’s your favourite?

Yep, when I first watched I was amazed, still am. I think I thought of them as the Region Stages in my head. 3 happens to be one of my favorites for its energy. 2 was so classy (I can only remember like 2 other groups that did a Kingsman concept).

11. Your favourite Saessak Harmony episode? (If you haven’t seen any, I highly recommend!!!)

I haven't entirely caught up on all of them (sorry, Superstar FNC calls), but the K-pop quiz one was so funny. I'd be most like Intak when it comes to that. Watching them get wet is too funny. I love seeing them smile.

12. Most iconic P1H tiktok in your opinion? (Again, if you haven’t seen any, please go watch them, these boys istg-)

I really have no intention of downloading TikTok (except for maybe dance purposes) but I like the one where Jongseob is dancing to like a Justin Bieber song. It made me burst out into laughter. He does a dice roll and I just absolutely lose it. Gotta love TikTok dances.

13. A P1H moment you love? (Or several, if you’re indecisive like me)

The classic "somebody said ew!", Soul Naruto-running, that one moment in Universal Studios where they call Shrek oppa. Basically all the crazy adventures we get to see.

14. Is there anything they’ve helped you with/you learned from them?

The members are somewhat on the young side, and I'm within their age range, so they feel relatable. One thing I've gotten from them is that youth is not a weakness, rather, it is a strength that can be channeled into so many things. The passion and determination they demonstrate is really inspiring. It makes me want to improve myself too.

15. A concept you want to see them do in the future?

Traditional Korean, maybe fused with futuristic too. I love the outfits and instrumentals for traditional songs.

16. A collab you’re hoping for?

Please get them with Ateez, they'll literally leave the stage incinerated. They're groups where I can watch them and not get bored because their performance is so captivating.

I could always use them with another FNC group too. Like a prod. Zuho feature on the next album, a performance together, I want more lol. Imagine if P1H performed live too with say, N.Flying accompanying them. I mean, FNC has good bands, after all.

17. Fav member combination from the partner vlives?

I am not one who usually watches vlives but nothing beats Keeho and Intak ! Those burnt tortillas.. sigh.

18. Fav lyric if you have one?

19. Fav vocal, rapper and dancer? (I know, I know, these are all super hard questions...)

Vocal: It's Keeho even though I love all their voices. He has a voice that enchants you with its richness, tells a story and shows clear RnB influences, quite unexpected in Kpop.

Rapper: Jongseob's experience shines through in his flow. He's going places.

Dancer: Intak's fire when he performs! I'm really proud of all of them as dancers, though.

20. The moment you fell in love with your bias?

Keeho singing his song from the OST of their movie, called Sweet Memories (I need this released on Spotify ASAP). It was a debut showcase clip. Never looked back.

21. A member you can’t help but get wrecked by?

Jongseob. I just look at him, and feel like a proud sister and think of how far he's come (more on that one later). Also, him with purple hair was quite the blessing.

22. Something you love about each member? (Can be one thing or a whole rant, whatever you feel like^^)

Keeho: Ah, our leader. I have a bias towards leaders because it really can't be easy to deal with the members. When talking to interview hosts, he speaks well. It's not his "job" to translate, but he is very courteous in including international fans. He's honest (and we love him for it!), can say something wise and then can say something too damn funny right after.

I could write an essay on his voice, damn. He just has a voice where you can identify it right away. It's literally a whole gem—please, his runs. Dude, save talent for the rest of us. And his dancing. He couldn't dance at all when he got into FNC (it was because of his vocals). But then you look and it's like damn. He's clean. He has attitude when he performs. King shit.

Also how the hell is he so good at Superstar FNC?

Theo: His voice feels like the cold of winter. I don't know why. Like it's soft but it feels like it has an edge to it at times too. So interesting to listen to.

Despite the initial impression of him being cold, he's a fun person, roasting the members and seriously being the sassiest to walk this earth (along with Keeho). I feel like his facial expressions are a mood. Like one time when Keeho was shaking him and his eyes just screamed "get me out of here.."

Jiung: He's very deliberate about everything. There's a reason why he's our ace. He has a sweet voice (it's so light), doesn't slack on rapping, is such a good dancer, just did a collab on their Soundcloud, is amazing with languages too. He's crazy.

But then he's also very comforting. Hearing his voice feels like returning home after a long day. He's loving in his own way. Watching his PLOGs makes me feel at peace.

Intak: He's the embodiment of youthful energy if I ever did see it. The way he hypes everyone up, has such fun while performing, looks like a golden retriever who got excited about, well, something. It seeps into his rapping too. His verses feel like he's casually rapping to you in the moment, but they're practiced all the same.

Also, his damn smile. One of the best sights ever.

Soul: I root for all the "odd ones" out there. Our only INFP, unique to the very end. He's a wildcard, surprising me with his freestyle in Scared, saying that he wants to destroy the world, singing beautifully in the Reset bridge, and just overall having so much potential.

I want to tell him how proud I am of him. Of being who he is, with his humor and randomness. For improving his Korean. For every line that he gets. (Hoping for a Japanese song from them soon!)

The world can't stop him, with his secretive smile, unique nature and passionate performance.

Jongseob: How does one have that much stage experience under their belt? 16 years old internationally and already done so much. Practically a veteran. From Kpop Star 6 to YGTB, I'm in absolute awe of what he's done and love that he excels.

In general, P1Harmony have a lot of credits when it comes to production and writing lyrics on their albums, and as part of the rap line, I commend Seob especially for participating in that.

Also, can we talk about the P-Side video where he did Before the Dawn? Contemporary is so difficult and requires you to express your emotions. The rawness he was able to convey was amazing.

He has a maturity that is hard to find, even in those who are older than him. A very patient aura. But also, you can see he's the maknae. Has a heart-warming smile. At times he shows his embarrassment and I just laugh because it's a mood.

23. Something you love about being a P1ece?

We're really creative. I've seen lots of amazing art, writing and covers centered around P1Harmony.

Bonus: Anything P1Harmony-related that you want to recommend to your (non-P1ece) followers or to new P1eces?

I'll start with something free. Their PLOG (P1Harmony vlogs) series gives an insight to their days, and they open up about small success and emotions. It's a nice little experience, watching one member speak at a time.

Idk you well and I’m usually all for people speaking about their controversial opinions but also since I don’t know you well I’m just hoping it isn’t pure hatred and vitriol for a person or something (bcs I have zero idea what the censored thing is. Maybe Dawn related?? I feel like he’s the thing most people have acidic ideas over lol, it fits your censor and he also has a small fanbase)

uhm okay it is *kinda* dawn related but not really. its under the read more bc yeah

naughty boy's entire era leaves just a really bad taste in my mouth. dont get me wrong, i love the entire mini and i know the boys put so much effort into it, but it was their first comeback without all of the members. i mean, during half of gorilla era shinwon had to sit out and critical beauty yanan couldnt be in live stages, but they at least got to participate in the songs. naughty boy was the first time they were.. incomplete? i suppose? and it was just a time filled with so much uncertainty. we werent even sure if yanan was gonna come back, especially after it was confirmed that dawn got kicked. for the longest time, i couldnt even listen to any of the songe on the album bc it just felt so empty without either of their voices. hell, you could *hear* where dawns voice was supposed to go in naughty boy.

its an era that, even though im able to listen to the songs now and not feel this emptiness, i still cant fully enjoy it. what makes it worse for me is that they were riding off of the coattails of shine's success. they had the entire kpop community's eyes on them as they had to go through losing a member and criticism over making a shine copycat and so much uncertainty. i still remember kino crying at a fanmeet and reporters asking them questions about dawn leaving and them having to be civil about everything.

and as much as i love naughty boy as a song now, its so obvious they WERE trying to capitalize on shine's success. thats not a criticism! shine is a good song and so is naughty boy and it introduced ptg's now well-known fun concepts! but hui has also talked about how ever since shine, he hasnt been able to make songs with such a carefree attitude. he constantly has to make songs with the success of shine looming over him and how cube is trying to push him into making a hit like it again.

the reason why im scared to say all of this is that when naughty boy was released, a LOT of unis were just.. awful. it was more of a problem on twt, but i saw my fair share of tumblr unis being disgusting too. they all said that it was okay to take ur time and heal from dawn leaving however long it took, but as soon as someone was open and vocal about their hurt, they would be called a fake uni! if you didnt support hyundawn, you were a fake uni; if you didnt support dawn's solo debut, you were a fake uni; if you posted hui crying during bomnari; if you are ot10; if you are ot9— all of it somehow signaled that you werent an ACTUAL ptg stan or that you were a bad person. ive talked about this before, but there are a handful of big-name unis (specifically on twt i dont think any of them are active on here anymore) that tote a Specific Way Of Being A Universe and if you Werent That, then you were somehow doing it wrong. they were are are super protective of the boys, and i get it, theyve been through shit and i want to protect them to, but it was getting to the point of sending hate to other unis for simply being a uni in a different way.

im ot10. i was pretty vocal about it in the past. in my eyes, pentagon will always be 10. they talked about how pentagon wouldnt be pentagon if it werent the 10 of them, dawn got a bigass 10 tattoo on his hip, they fought tooth and nail to debut as 10. to me, that signifies that, if it werent for cube, they would still be 10.

ive stopped being vocal about it because there are a few ot9 stans that tell ot10 stans to get over it. it happened years ago. theyre 9 now, so theres no point on being ot10.

ptg are my ults. they still are. they debuted the same month i tried to kill myself, and while recovering, their debut album was the only thing i could listen to. it comforted me in a way i cant explain now. i think thats why dawn leaving had such an impact on me, and why i had to take a break from everything for months after he left.

theres so much in-fighting that ive seen within the universe community. its hostile and bitter and i hate it. its died down since shalala, but i still see it. it makes me sick to my stomach.

Haha its fine! Im book anon for a reason so take all the time you need! Before I start, I wanna apologize for the possible asks you got about the merch and hybe in general. I didn't intend to cause stress and need to be careful bdjahdsj so slap me with a fish!

Onto the ask! But agreed, I mean before the big kpop boom we saw, this was very common. Build a decent fanbase and then move to Japan or China. (Of course sometimes you see INSTANT movement in other countries but that depends on the company and such but you know what I mean) but since we do have the more global kpop era, we may see more companies do America which isn't a bad thing. It makes sense buisness wise so they will jump on it after debut or something. Thus I don't see it a bad thing for kpop groups to promote in America because hey, if in Korea they do sell western artist music who also tour there, kpop groups can also do the same ya know?

Now onto the hybe comment, I will try not to speak too much on it so I will try to summarize. I think my theory is due with merch from their main artist, they think maybe it could work with svt which maybe could but svt has a different fanbase so throwing on random merch won't make fans really want to buy (not saying some won't which kudos to you! As a fan you are allowed to consume what you please except not be a bad apple about it) so thus like the infamous water bottles which was done for bts, they thought why not do it for svt because bts fans sold it out apparently for a 2nd wave of it being sold again. (Which to this day idk why someone in the hybe team thought this was smart. Like...this is just in bad taste imo) I do wanna agree that it appears that hybe doesn't seem to have a proper art team for svt because while sometimes wild, I do know for their main artist they do have thoughtful merch based around say an album concept I recall. Kf course they will make mistakes i.e. the water bottles. I do wish it can improve because even though it is capitalism, I think fans do want decent merch. We have seen interesting ideas like svt making their own magazine and selling it lol. Of course it is hard to please because some fans want subtle merch ideas while others don't mind the vibrant pastel colors we got or some want wild ideas like svt figurines or something. Overall I hope I didn't drag this too much as I just wanted to respond back to you, I agree with many points you said so yeah cx I say let's also wait as this is barely what, a year or even less of svt being under hybe properly. Especially when hybe had its rebranding and expanding so things are being changed, I know fans are worried about this which is valid but let's not panic just yet. Let's come back in a year to this and see what has improved and what hasn't. (OK but peldis sold the boys rings!? :o since when!? I haven't heard of this actually, when did this happen if I may ask?)

Oof yeah sadly with streaming, many view "oh you don't stream it means you aren't a fan" when isn't the case (which is why I personally don't like when certain companies also do "listening parties" which seems a bit ???) I do remember this popped up big in 2017 but many fans called it out so it quiet down a bit. Like we didn't see it so often where fans were causing problems over it so idk why this returned nor what the cause of it was.

Like game boy is just so creative with the way it was made. As a video game nerd, it is perfection. I could make an essay about this song lol and heaven's cloud is just...wow. I feel so at ease with the song, comfortable and soothed. Like you are on a cloud lol. Also that is totally fine! Rtl was a grower for me (I blame the mv, it didn't do the song jusitice) but it is a bop and can't stop humming the chorus at random moments. Overall a great summer album. Just imagine any of these songs performed live ndjansns

and yeah i agree! i don't think it's a bad thing for groups to promote in the US, as you said, it's similar to groups expanding their fanbase by promoting in china or Japan or other asian counties, it makes sense from a business standpoint and there's nothing wrong with promoting in different countries. i just wish that some kpop stans understood that western and/or global popularity is a bonus and not a requirement for success. while they do have a global appeal, at the end of the day kpop's main audience is korea, and groups that achieve popularity in Korea have already achieved what they set out to do. but there's unfortunately a decent chunk of international fans that prioritize western popularity over anything and can't fathom that a group can be successful without being popular in the US. or they just talk as if their groups western achievements are more valuable than their Korean ones and to me that starts to look like xenophobia... (sorry if I'm repeating anything i said before in regards to this, i feel like i am but I'm too lazy to go back and check OTL)

since you sent this ask hybe released the caratland merch which was actually really nice, and today they also announced that there will be birthday merch for cheol (and presumably all members from here on out). we don't know what the bday merch is yet but some carats are already a bit miffed that hybe is even thinking to capitalize off the boys' birthdays... i bring both of these up bc i feel like the caratland merch proves your point that hybe is capable of designing good and thoughtful merch, and honestly this does reassure me a bit. but on the other hand them trying to capitalize off the boys' birthdays also proves that they still don't fully understand carats wants and priorities as a fanbase. which, if the future of seventeens merch is gonna be quality merch with some shitty cash grabs in between, i can live with that. I'm not gonna like the shitty cash grabs and i think it would be in our best interest as a fandom to not go crazy buying those shitty cash grabs, because if we don't then hybe will hopefully stop wasting their time and put more effort into /quality/. but if we get quality merch for important events like concerts and fanmeetings, i can live with it. as you said too, it can take time for these things to change, and we should all recognize that. but at the same time merch specifically is market driven, so i don't think it's a bad thing if people like @ hybe on twt about any bad merch that comes out in order to drive that change dhfkfj

but also on a maybe more fun note in regards to the merch... with some carats being upset about the bday merch i was thinking about what hybe could do for merch instead that would fill the niche of being at intervals throughout the year that could still be limited time drops but that carats wouldn't be mad at them capitalizing on and then i was like duh! they could literally just make merch off of going seventeen! honestly I'm surprised they haven't yet. maybe not merch for every episode, but they could have a line of permanent gose merch w a basic logo or something and then release limited time merch themed around some of the more popular episodes at various points during the year. I'm actually kind of obsessed with this idea now and for once I'm like hybe/pledis please capitalize off of this!! dhfkgjg

they never actually sold them, but for seventeens 3rd anniversary, pledis planned to sell replicas of seventeens rings. after it was announced carats were understandably upset since the boys worked so hard for those. luckily pledis heard carats concerns and put out an apology and didn't manufacture them in the end. I'm glad that at least they listened to carats even though it would have been better if they had never considered the idea in the first place :(

oh yeah listening parties are definitely just another marketing technique to boost streams. i think like with a lot of marketing techniques, it just depends on the execution. imo if they're done well it can be a good way for fans to connect while listening to an artists music, which is mutually beneficial for the company, but i can totally see a situation where companies get greedy and push it too hard. i don't know anything about what happened with them back in the day, but if you're curious why SVT had listening parties leading up to your choice, they were set up by UMG, the American distributor that SVT worked with for this cb. in this case the listening parties weren't just for boosting streams, but also likely for UMG to gauge interest. SVT isn't officially signed to a US label yet, but UMG's data from the listening parties could be used to show US labels whether or not there's enough interest for them to be signed. which if that happens we'd almost definitely see a more permanent US shop!

yes! heavens cloud and gam3 bo1 are both such feel good songs! my sister actually added heavens cloud to their Spotify after i made them listen to the album in the car dhfkf it's now one of 6 kpop songs they have saved (4 of which are SVT... my influence 💅 DHFJFH) I'm certain we'll see some of the songs from your choice at caratland this year, hopefully it's all of them but I'd especially like to see heavens cloud and wave 👀 I'm also still crossing my fingers for an i wish live performance bc i can't believe my favorite SVT b-side is one of the TWO tracks they haven't performed live not including the new album (the other one being network love, which i would also like to see live!)
