Years into the war, Cody gives Obi-Wan a letter.

"I hope you never have to read it," Cody tells him. "If we both see this through, I'll read it to you myself."

Obi-Wan doesn't want to accept it. He wants Cody to read it to him now, to tell him everything he feels he can't say until their duty is done. Wants to tell him they'll both see the other side of this war, even if he has no way to promise such a thing.

Obi-Wan has so much he wants to say to Cody, but doesn't. He understands, now, and he accepts the letter. He keeps it with him always. He hopes he'll never have to read it.

Months later on Utapau, when Cody hands him his lightsaber, Obi-Wan thinks of that damned letter tucked into his robes and hopes that this is the day he finally gets to destroy it, because there's no need for it, because he'll have memorized every word in the sound of Cody's voice.

He's wrong.

Years go by on Tatooine. Obi-Wan still has that letter, unopened. He looks at it every day. He cannot bear to read it. He cannot bear to destroy it.

"I hope you never have to read it."

If there's love in that letter, he worries it'll break him completely.

The unknowing of it hurts, of course. But ignorance, in this case, he thinks it might be sweeter.

Cody’s eyes widen, gasping into the other man’s mouth, unable to process how he’s gasping at all, breathing sweet relief between this beautiful man’s lips— Such soft lips is his last, absurd thought before darkness finally takes him.

An early birthday present for my beloved @meebles from her mermaid AU, which I am still so very very deeply unwell about 🩵💙 I did take some artistic liberty here with what Obi-Wan’s 'kiss of life' might look like visually.

This is also my very very first attempt at this type of digital painting/rendering, but I did my best, and I really hope you like it, my love<3

Genuinely I cannot choose, I’d love to see either Cody from the Hades AU or the Cowboy Clones please, whichever you feel like sharing!!

Cody is not looking much for the Hades AU for the time being…. Which is unfortunate (and very frustrating) because I would really like him to be done by the end of the month by CoDay.

So the way the Hades drawing process goes is that I scribble around a lot trying to find a pose that I like: it should have enough drama and flow to match the game’s aesthetics, but it is also unfortunately a static kind of standing pose from the top of the thigh up, so the movement really comes from flowy capes and robes and whatnot. And we know that Cody doesn’t have any swish on him in general. Traded his kama in for a jet pack or something. While I managed to come up with a solution for that (he’s getting Rex’s poncho look from TBB, I will just have to make sure his armor is visible enough underneath it) I’m not too hot on these two preliminary sketches either. I don’t want him to resemble Rex too much (and I’m already courting that with the helmet under the arm thing), and I also don’t want to just copy an already existing pose from the game or any other art (the one that I liked here is from an official-ish action figure pose of him I believe), and so I’ve been talking myself in and out of having him hold Obi-wan’s lightsaber (unlit) because he is unfortunately stuck in Achilles’s spot from the game… but I don’t want his whole thing to be about Obi-wan, you know? He’s a whole individual without his general too, but it would fit so well narratively, and maybe I can get away with this little detail just this once?

I’m still stuck brainstorming and sketching here, is the point ^^;

Now the cowboy clones are really something I’m real fond of :D they are stuck in this rough sketch stage because when I scribbled it out I was madly trying to come up with a concept for a cowboy event I had signed up for last year (and then failed to deliver), and I hadn’t yet figured out how I liked to draw clone faces but this is very firmly still in the Wip pile! It was going to be Cody and Rex, I just wanted them to hang out together :3

1) what song makes you feel better?

There's this funny effect that means when you hear recordings of concerts you were a part of, it gives you a boost and brings you back.

So it's a lot of those but of all my choir songs, I'd say it's probably Only Hope by Mandy Moore (like the harmonies are so, so, so very pretty and soothing) and lately it's been Summer moved on by Aha (in the Oliver Gies version).

10) what’s something you’re excited for?

So, fandom-wise it's the @waxerboilmonth because I've been hard at work writing and I'm so exited to see what everybody's been up to with the prompts.

BACKSTORY

Eden was the youngest of four children, his father the eldest heir to the ever dwindling Pureblood Slytherin House, Meeble. When Eden was seven, his father snapped amidst a quiet night in the parlor, and began killing his own children, hurling unforgivable curses at them. Eden’s mother was able to incapacitate him using a freezing charm, but not before she could save three of her children. Eden was badly harmed, and hospitalized immediately as his father was brought before the Ministry, then to Azkaban. Though he was conscious through his hospitalization, Eden was too young and too traumatized to understand or remember what curse his father used on him. As he got older, he became well enough to go home, under monitoring from house call nurses. Something about the incident caused severe damage to his brain, which could not be properly healed with magic, due to the brain’s intricacies. When he was eleven, he was well enough to spend time with his mother, but he displayed no signs of magic, so she believed him to be a squib. Eden’s paternal family, House Meeble, completely exiled the two of them after what his father did, not wanting to have that evil brought into their home. Aside from the wealth his father had already shared with them before his imprisonment, their family wanted nothing to do with Eden or his mother. He grew up closer with his mother’s side of the family anyway, another small Pureblood house with less strict rules and better morals. Less bigoted and more accepting. Despite some scarring, and his amblyopia, Eden got better through his early teens, and by the time he was fourteen had begun to display more magic, which he couldn’t harness before in a sick/cursed state. Hogwarts willingly accepted him, even though he would have to start as a fifth year, and Eden is trying very desperately to catch up to his classmates.

MORE STUFF

Eden has amblyopia in both eyes, which is permanent damage to the muscles surrounding his eye sockets, resulting in a bit of a delay between the movement of his corneas. He can still see just fine, but both eyes are considered lazy eyes, and it is very rare for them to move in complete sync

His oldest sibling, Avalonian, was a 2nd year Slytherin when he was murdered. It’s been long enough that the students won’t bother him about it, but the professors all remember his brother and pity him a lot despite his tendency to act out and break rules and learn dark magic

Eden has two cousins that attend Hogwarts the same time as him, Onie Lyre (A 5th year Ravenclaw from his mother’s side of the family), whom he grew up with and loves very dearly. And Paradisia Meeble (6th year Slytherin from his father’s side) whom he has never spoken to. Even before the exile, the Meebles did not like Eden’s part of the family because they were not blood-purists.

Eden’s mother and Onie’s mother, and Eden’s father and Paradisia’s father are identical twins. Eden and Paradisia look very similar to each other, but Onie looks nothing like Eden because of her own father.

He is VERY gay. Possibly the gayest character I’ve ever created. Everything about him is gay. If you close your eyes and imagine the human personification of gay, you will see Eden. He is gay

He’s very dainty, and thin. He takes a lot of pride in presenting himself as clean and neat (usually in full suits beneath his robes) because of his years stuck in the hospital

He does not have any interest in showing off or boasting whatsoever. His motives can be a bit revengey but he is typically into schemes for the long haul. He hates having attention on him or when professors call on him in class

His favorite classes are Beasts and Herbology, because he likes to work quietly and care for living things. It makes him feel more in control, when so much of his life was controlled by his disabilities

Somewhere down the line the Meeble family is Scottish but it’s distant

Is there a certain type of moment or common interaction between your characters that never fails to put you in your feels?

After perusing my latest work, I think I'm really weak for a character first rejecting then reluctantly accepting comfort from another character. There's just something very special about thinking you don't deserve or need something until you realise that yes, in fact, you do.

What's a line, scene, or exchange you've written that made you laugh?

I've noticed a low-key streak of humour running through most of my works, but I rarely write something outright funny, I think... However, I have this line I'm oddly endeared by (from a finished fic I'll post next week):

Seeing as he currently had an armful of purring tooka - which could quickly turn into vindictive tooka when displaced too rudely - Cody nodded.

Teehee alright then 😊 I like to think of writing as painting/making music with words sometimes, and I think I have a few works with which I achieved peak rhythm and colour!!

Do you listen to music while you write? What song have you been playing on loop lately?

I rarely do, it distracts me too much - except when there are even more distracting sounds in my vicinity, then I'll put in my earphones and listen to a movie soundtrack or something (Samuel Kim's Star Wars soundtrack mixes are really good for that).

Tell me about an up and coming wip please!

Oh uuuh I have to be careful to talk about one I'm allowed to talk about lmao. I've signed up to a few bangs and exchanges and stuff - top secret. However, I'm really excited about my WIPs for various prompt weeks!! I've got a nsfw one in the works for RexWalker week, in which Rex is put in the slave outfit from the Zygerrian arc instead of Ahsoka heheh *rubs hands* Poor boy, I just like to make him uncomfortable.

Who is your favorite character to write?

Every character I write is my favourite, though I have a preference for emotionally unintelligent and/or snarky rat bastards sometimes (looking at you, Crosshair, Din and Vader). Earnest and caring characters have me weak, too, however (Brasso or Wrecker being good examples).

3 - which character are you actually most like?

Uh, that's a good question! I'd like to think I'm probably Anakin sans murder, as I am just a human dumpster fire that someone stumbles her was through life xD

Maybe add a dash of Obi-Wan "drops shit all the time/is somehow about to negotiate with argumentative people" for good measure, specifically the dropping shit all the time.

4 - what headcanon will you defend to the death?

Clones being Force sensitive, 100%. More specifically, they all are, but don't really know what to do with the information, so they just keep the fact they can feel each other in the Force like one massive family to themselves.

I really don't care for the fact that we never (sans one clone in a comic who of course gets killed) see it as a faint possibility. The Force isn't something you can just remove as a choice, so as far as I'm concerned they all are and I refuse to hear otherwise :)

6 - what planet would you most like to live on?

Hm, Yavin IV or Kamino.

Yavin is probably my favorite for a few reasons, but to live there 100% would be horrible on my skin lol. Kamino would be fun as I absolutely love the rain, and I know it's not always storming, so it wouldn't be always miserable. 100% though would help liberate the clones redecorate and kick the longnecks off-planet.

11 - who is the most underrated character?

Besides the clones who never really got a chance? Lol

Poe Dameron, Finn, and Rey really don't get the love they deserve, especially Rey. Yes, I know it's because the writing is shit and their movies are all a dumpster fire, but they really are fun characters who could out-shine the OT group if they had been given a coherent movie series to work with. I could go on about how much I love these nerds, but they deserve to be up there alongside a lot of the fan favorites, and Poe especially because damn sir

14 - what is your favorite alien species?

Hm, I don't think I have a favorite favorite?

I do think the Kel Dor are kinda cool, and the two groups from Dathomir are super fun and really interesting, but overall I don't have a favorite.

Obi-Wan knows he’s being rather old-fashioned about this.

Cody Fett is his own man, and he certainly doesn’t need his father’s permission to get married. But Obi-Wan figures it’s still the courteous thing, to at least make his intentions known before he proposes.

After Obi-Wan tells Jango as much, the man stares at him silently for an unnerving amount of time, before he sighs.

“You don’t need my blessing, if that’s what you’re asking… it’s the rest of them you need to worry about.”

Obi-Wan blinks. “The rest of them?”

“So,” Fox starts, sitting down on the chair across from him. “You think you’re good enough to marry my brother?”

“Fox, please,” Obi-Wan says, pained. “You know me. I’ve been dating Cody for years. Is this all really necessary?”

Fox just raises a brow. “I hope you cleared your schedule. You’re going to be here awhile.”

Obi-Wan looks to the door, behind which he knows the rest of Cody’s brothers are waiting. All nineteen of them.

He turns back to Fox, who takes that as his cue to fully launch into what’s likely meant to be a speech, but feels more like an interrogation.

Obi-Wan bites back a groan. For Cody, even this particular brand of torture is worth it.
