Okay there's too much elemental transition Dew angst on this app. And I mean that in the most affectionate way possible, I swear to god y'all who write it always manage to make my heart ache in the worst/best possible ways. But I am a simple, soft creature so I present to you : Dew who actually accepts and recieves well his elemental transition.
Dew who's skeptical of the idea at first because water is all he's ever known. He turns the idea in his head over and over again until he realizes how tempting the offer feels to him. Yes, water is all he's ever known but he doesn't really feel attached to it like he should. The more he thinks it over, the more it feels like a blessing. A new start.
Dew who talks about it beforehand to the rest of the pack. They're worried, rightfully so, but they listen to his explanation. And they agree with him in the end, he should do it if he feels like the right thing for him.
Dew who goes throught with the transformation, and it hurts like a bitch and he's sick for a good two weeks after. But his pack is there to take care of him. He doesn't like depending on others but he lets them, secretly loving how everyone offers to carry him everywhere, how it feels to have people wash his hair and bring him food.
Dew who connects with fire as soon as he's better. The element truly calls to him, pulls him in, welcomes him. It's warm and intense and it's home. Finally home. He learns his fire ghoul duty in no time under Ifrit's teaching.
Dew who doesn't resent Rain at first for being the new water ghoul, quite the opposite. Aether's the one who was supposed to be in charge of putting a cloak over him, charming and comforting as ever. But the second Dew saw that water ghoul, folded in on himself in the middle of that summoning circle, he took that cloak out of Aether's hand faster than he could think about it. Walked up to the shaking Rain, wrapped him up tight and told him it would all be okay, that he's safe. Dew takes him under his wing, teaches him all about being a water ghoul, as well as he can without being one himself anymore.
Something in Rain calls to him, he knows it's the water. It's not mad at him for pulling it out of his body, it knows it was the best decision for him. But it still misses him. And Rain shows him all the love that water ever had for Dew, a love that was never meant to be in him but rather with him. (And also sometimes in him, if you catch my drift.)
Dew who learns to love his scars, to accept them as a part of his story and his journey, rather than a heavy anchor to his past. He doesn't shy away when Phantom sees them for the first time. Doesn't try to hide or to make up stories. They're a part of him. And they're beautiful.
Aight that's my self service for the night, good byyyyye

DEXTER X OC ONESHOT :: Moloch and Meerkat confrontation, both die lmao
Tumblr media
Meerkat huffed out after a gruesome attack, he was covered in scratches and bruises; a scar beginning to form itself across his left eyebrow. He looked forward, meeting eyes with the demon before him. Moloch, possessing the body of his lost love. Meerkat was in a state that was very rare for him. Rage. Utter disgust. All this time, his dear Dexter.. gone. He needed to defend his honor. To at least send off his last love, to allow him to perhaps have something close to rest.
He readied the holy water Father Gregor gave him, they were still on bad terms, but the had come to a.. Tolerance of each other. At least for now, this moment. As there was only this chance. He sprinted in a skating formation, Moloch charging. The two met, though before Moloch could lay his next attack; Meerkat drenched him in the holy water. The monster shrieked out in agony as it burnt into his skin, the demon ejecting itself from its vessel; leaving Dexter to collapse to the floor.
Meerkat ran to him, catching him as he fell. He knew Dexter was dead, his snapped neck; his cold skin.. But he just wanted to hold him for a moment. One more time. He gently squeezed Dexter’s hand, a tear falling from his face onto Dexter’s. Meerkat cracked a smile, at least he could see his beautiful green eyes one more time. Even if they were clouded over by a soulless mist.
Until a shimmer flickered inside of them.
Meerkat gasped as Dexter began to move, Dexter’s expression shifting from blank to in horror. “  ….. D–dolls…. k-kids… gg-gotta fucking KILL THE–” He golted upwards, almost headbutting Meerkat. They were interlocked with each other, Dexter’s uncertain daze almost disappearing for a moment. “ …. Meerkat? …. “ “ Dexter….” Meerkat’s voice softened, reaching out to caress his cheek. Dexter snapped his neck back into place, as if nothing had happened at all.
Dexter mumbled. “ I think I need to kill you.. “
Meerkat too a double take. “ W..What? “
“ I’m so desperate.... I haven’t killed anyone in years.. I haven’t had my body in years.. There's nobody else nearby.. Its just us. I’m so sorry but I think I need to kill you. “ Before Meerkat could respond, he noticed Moloch writhing in fury; preparing to leap right at them. “ Dexter. “ Moloch cornered them, the two all alone in a secluded cliffside. “ I don’t think either of us are going to make it out of this. “ Meerkat said in a calm tone.
“ If were going to die, I want to go by your side. Whether you kill me.. Or Moloch kills us both.. I want you to know.. “ Moloch began to hurdle himself towards them on all fours, roaring out in illegible noise. “ I love you- “
In an instant, Dexter hugged himself close to Meerkat, rolling off of the cliffside.
As they fell headfirst, they spun through the air; still locking bodies and hands. He didn’t want to die, Dexter didn’t either, but they both knew that there was no other way out. Either they die side by side or by Molochs cruel hands. And.. there was a lot he wanted to achieve in his life. He saw it flash before him. His childhood, his loves, his immoral mistakes. All something he can never take back.  “ I love you too, Meerkat. I’ll see you in hell, okay? “ But… at least he achieved his one true wish. To find love. To be himself and find love.
“ Okay. “

Candle in the Cave
“I’ve always wanted a daughter I could love.”
The matron crooned to her jester. Loud enough that all the attendants to the dinner party could hear. Most clearly of all her surviving daughters, seated closest to the Matron as propriety demands.
“I’m going to be fucking murdered!” The jester said to everyone in particular.
The silence was announced with cymbals of silverware striking plates. A couple people choked and coughed, unsure glances as the tune of the evening abruptly changed genre and none the wiser to the correct scripts.
Surprise graced the matron’s usually stony facade and it peeled back further as she began to laugh uproariously. Almost as surprising, Dephelma, the eldest of the surviving coughed a half audible laugh and nearly shook apart from her bodies attempt at remembering how to make such a noise. The second eldest held such a dump struck expression that the moment she turned it on her fellow’s that the absurdity of it all broke them as well.
It was the causal cruelty of the matron!
It was the indignation of the jesters voice!
It was the utter truth of the statement!
Everyone in the mob knew how to read between the lines, to keep constant track of the social undercurrents beneath every conversation. Each had their own interpretation of the matrons words, like oracles before the alters to the gods. And each would adjust accordingly, in silence, behind the scenes. So for the jester to just, reach right into the ribcage of the conversation and hold up its still beating heart for all to see? It simply wasn’t done! And the indignation!
She was genuinely upset! And the way she said it was the closest anyone had ever heard to telling off the matron!
What the actual fuck is wrong with you?
Said the jester.
The laughter roaring in the hall was one of relief. Someone said it. They all thought to themselves. Someone finally said it.
Because it was true. They laughed. Somebody was going to murder the jester

Have you seen the new video of John discussing football? It's on Youtube, uploaded by the Men in Blazers channel. John comes in at about the hour and nineteen minute mark. Thought I'd share!
I wanted to wait until I actually watched this to respond!! I have now, and here's the link for everyone:
youtube
For starters, what an absolutely incredible introduction for him. (Starts around 1 hr. 18 min.) I was moved by that and I'm just an internet rando!!
This is an absolutely fantastic clip overall. I will not pretend to be the most knowledgeable person about football - I know how it's played and its ongoing cultural importance, but never really watched it too intensely. (Maybe I should, but no one is taking baseball from me and I'm afraid to lose that to another sport.) Starting with more personal anecdotes before moving into the subject of Qatar's human rights abuses and violence worked really well for me, and the interview has the same humour and insightful balance as my favorite bits of LWT.
This also reminded me that I was in New York during the World Cup in 2010. I was supposed to go see The Daily Show and our flight got delayed so late that we missed it (sob), but watching John and Jon Stewart straight up screaming at each other on our hotel room TV while my late aunt and I basically collapsed with laughter and my mom kept trying to hear the show over her hrair dryer is one of my all-time favorite memories. Also football was EVERYWHERE and it was such a fun atmosphere in the city. I know a lot of that is tainted now because of FIFA's bullshit, but it was an experience.
"A Fyre Festival of a World Cup" is a hell of a line. Same as "They are based in Switzerland, geographically and morally." Definitely shipping these two footballers they invented a homoerotic flirtation for, for no understandable reason.
Wild to hear John call someone ELSE out on self-hatred too, lol. John, you devote about half of your air time to shitting on your bangs, appearance, show concept, furry leanings, hobbies, and general being. I'm torn between saying "pot meet kettle" and "I guess you're the best judge of self-immolation".
And because no one asked, maroon is definitely John's color and he should wear it more. Him throwing his leg up on the table to show he has legs... fuck me.

Folds of Being Chapter 1
“It was a worm. No, it was a snake- some large piece of flesh vaguely coated with lines that resembled that of scales. The figure, appearing instantaneously, and then disappearing. The pattern- too vague and changing to be defined. A sliver of light reflecting off of the snake- or was it light at all? Color nor hue could be found in this image- only a fluctuating sea of black and white disappearing and reappearing as it pleased. And this snake or thin piece of flesh took on the faces of a million souls- one in suffering, and the other anger. The strange creature bent itself towards the direction of its tail which was trailing behind it. The mouth, marked with oscillating angles and lights barely defining its dental features. This mouth bit into the flesh of the tail. The head I remember, called itself the Cephala, and the tail called itself the Ouros. That is, they called themselves such things that were different- yet they were part of the same creature. Its outer shell began to detach from itself and molt away from its body into the flashing void of chaos and unknown. This skin was cast into the darkness where it was never seen again. The Cephala, filled with anger and hatred, generating profiles of teeth and points further digging into the Ouros and swallowing it whole. But the more the Ouros was devoured by its counterpart, the body of the whole snake just kept expanding at the same rate as the Cephala ate. The Ouros was a being of a suffering, torment, and the screams of a million cherubs crying in deafening chants. The dissonant cries did not decay or intensify, they just kept their disharmonious struggle at a constant volume. The wrath of the Cephala devoured the helpless Ouros only to grow the lost organs back. But soon, the body stopped regenerating and the Cephala bent itself to eat the rest of the Ouros. It detached from the body and devoured the severed pieces whole. The lone severed head, now done with its meal, lost its anger and seems to have comes to terms with what actions it had just committed. I do not believe this was some sort of reflection of acceptance of its reduced state, but rather an existential dread of an event yet to come. And just as it had materialized before me, it evaporated into the void from which it came. It returned to the state of compounds and proteins leaving their vessel of begotteness. Back into the void, perhaps it has always belong to such void”.
“This is the fifth vision of that creature you’ve had this week, sir”
“Perhaps it is a sign?”
“Of what exactly?”
“The serpent devouring itself- why a serpent? They are a selfish kind, why must they devour themselves out of self-hate?”
“How does this differ from the previous visions?”
“The figure is more defined. The head and tail named themselves as if they were separate beings. The nature of detachment was considerably more aggressive than others visions”
“And the color?”
“It is vague to me like before”.
“What do you believe this is?”
“Something on subject with our current journey at hand. But why a snake? I do not remember The Pariah being linked to a serpent”
“Not in those volumes, but perhaps it is a sigil and not a servant of him”.
Garanthys looked down at his journal where these words had been inscribed by his secretary. Before his landfall to the Southern Beyond, he paid little mind to his dreams as many of them seemed insignificant. He was an esteemed Meerkat of science- why let anecdotal evidence from the subconscious get in the way of progress? If he were to discuss his dreams with his colleagues, he would be laughed out of the scientific community. However, dreams and visions seemed to become matters of meaning. Even when he would awake from bed, snippets and visions from these dreams would reappear whenever he would blink. The dreams were of a strange quality- Garanthys would expect them to be realms that were somewhat familiar to him including people and concepts he was familiar with. However, these dreams were full of unfamiliar sigils flashing before his eyes and landscapes of impossible nature. Many of his dreams seemed to be very vague in appearance which the scientist tried his best to describe. And then there was this serpent- the most intriguing and recurring concept he saw. Like his other dreams, he had a million questions about what this creature could be or symbolize. Every sight of the serpent became more detailed as he kept dreaming. Every time after this dream, he experienced a deep pain in his chest and a feeling of unknown horror that haunted him at his waking hours. It was bearable, but he knew there was sign from either his body or the land he had just began to trek. The Empire had entrusted him to explore the Southern Beyond and discover the secrets to a mass extinction. He was one of the top scientists in his field and only 93 moons old. For his voyage, he had been given 1,500 expeditionary troops from the Emperor himself to hopefully uncover ancient artifacts and secrets of a bygone era. Most important, to exhume the body of the Pariah- the entity responsible for the last great extinction event. This ambitious journey through unexplored lands had just landed around three weeks hence and a terrible storm had forced the party to stay at camp until the maelstrom blew over. The wind had died down somewhat as of late, but the cold froze the fuel in the transports so they were forced to stay another day for the transports to be fixed. A hunting party also was sent out to feed the Hwakejjla transports as the riders were afraid that depending on rations would starve the creatures before they even reached the halfway point.
Garanthys walked out of his canvas tent on the short grass and red clay. He looked downhill and saw the figures of a small squadron practicing drills with their sergeant. His secretary who was there in the tent with him grabbed his coat and walked out with him. The scientist descended downhill to the main area to see if any of his fellow contemporaries were awake. It was mid-morning and the sun was well-risen. Garanthys took keen notice of the continent’s weather and kept a journal noting every minute detail of the atmosphere’s activity. The great storm greatly intrigued him and the Lieutenant of the expedition had to make sure he did not leave his tent to examine the storm’s “curious behaviors”. But he was only the Lieutenant, and Garanthys had been named the General. The scientist respected the good will of that officer but he knew that he could overturn his decision at any time. After all, today was the only clear sky since they landed. For three weeks they had to sit in camp while storm after storm pummeled the party. After it had blown over, they were all surprised to see that the rain had not flooded their camp out. The water just seemed to have vanished or evaporated as soon as it touched the ground. Nevertheless, Garathys’ Battalion began to prepare for departure that day into the unknown. The forecast still proved to be windy and frigid but that would not deter Garanthys. In the puddles that had not evaporated, the scientist happened to look into the muddy pool collecting his thoughts. To his surprise, he noticed something swimming around in the muddy puddle. Perhaps it was a strange specimen native to this mysterious land. Bubbles rose to the surface and Garanthys could make out a small figure from the creature. He pulled out a vial from his jacket pocket and bent down to get a closer look. The creature skidded away into the muddy deep when he saw the scientist’s shadow but Garanthys had seen where it had gone. He quickly jolted his hands forward and caught the creature in the obscured darkness. He felt the figure of it. Very thin- almost serpent-like. No legs, no appendages either. When the mud and water left his hands, he saw that it had the head of a salamander but the body of a snake- almost like a Caecilian. The scales were white- but not the pure white that glistened in the sun. This shade that came from the scales of the creatures were a blank white- a vague coloring. Almost as if the makers of the animal forgot to give it color. There were some spots of black across the scales- scattered as small towns on a map in an unexplored territory. Garanthys scanned the creature intensively before filling the vial with water and putting the creature inside.
It will likely asphyxiate inside my jacket pocket before we depart he thought to himself But it will make for a lovely specimen in my research.
Garanthys walked further down the columns of tents and pavilions as the cool wind blew against him. His secretary followed close behind him. Garanthys walked into a large tent with its flaps spread open. This was the messhall where the soldiers gathered for break. A few of the Kataphrier Infantrymen were playing cards on the table while another was reading a book in the corner. Among them was a blonde Imperian Meerkat with crimson red shoulder epilets and black-tipped ears. He was a position of high rank certainly. This young officier laughed and cheerfully played cards with the other Kataphriers as if he was one of them. He was certainly younger than Garanthys only by a few moons and seemed to give off the impression of anticipation for the future. The officer laid his deck out in front of the other players indicating he had won, with a mix of impression and cheer coming from those who had lost. It was clear that the officer had outwitted his opponents in whatever game this was- always one step ahead of his adversaries. The officer spotted the scientist as he was walking to retrieve his knapsack and approached him. It was Isryyken, one of Garanthys’ fellow scientists who had decided to take the great journey with him.
“Can you believe they promoted me to second lieutenant?” the young Meerkat started
“I did not believe you to hold standing in the military.” Garanthys replied
“Those fights I had as a kid are good enough for military experience”
“So they just let you assume position?”
“I was out with the Aalthri Platoon collecting rock samples when we were ambushed by Velkese scouts. The Lieutenant was killed in the assault so I assumed command and killed all ten of ambushers- even one with the rocks I had collected! Didn’t you hear about this? Everybody’s talking about it”.
Evidently his secretary had forgotten to give reports on any military action recently mainly because of the preparations to depart. Isryyken was a young an outspoken man who had entered the field of Garanthys’ studies quite recently. His unorthodox methods of thinking led him and the scientist to become quick friends. Isryyken was less refined however and still made mistakes in his studies whereas Garanthys was a machine with no space for error. He was often very expressive when he wanted to be- a stark contrast to the focused and reserved Garanthys. However, the young lieutenant was well versed in the ancient volumes just as Garanthys was and both knew that something revolutionary lay within the tomb of the Pariah. The lively lieutenant and the reserved scientist shared many differences with each other but no doubt were close friends.
“Does Commander Rredua know of your promotion? Who promoted you?”
“The platoon, of course. I am sure Commander Rredua won’t mind”.
“You were sent to be a scientist of an unknown land and not to be given the burden of leadership”
“And you are the general?” Isryyken wittingly quipped.
Garanthys paused for a moment.
“Do not let this position distract from your purpose” he replied after an awkward silence.
Not willing to change the subject, Isryyken pressed further,
“You did not address the hypocrisy that stands. Be consistent” he said in a manner that mimicked Garanthys’ higher class mannerisms and accent.
“I was assigned general by the Emperor but the Commander leads. I only plot the course, not the manner in which we do it” he replied calmly.
“Besides,” he said in a joking manner, “Those rock samples you collected were wasted on killing others. Now they are contaminated- no good for research”
They both laughed off the slight disagreement and began discussing the rock formations and structures they had discovered so far. Garanthys pulled out the vial containing the strange creature he had picked up from the puddle. It was still alive and swimming around, struggling to find a way out of its glass prison. The young second lieutenant examined the vial curiously and tapped the glass for any sign of provocation. He pulled out a flashlight and tried to disturb the creatures. Strangely enough, the creature did not seem to react to any of Isryyken’s provocations and remained unchanged.
“It is the first creature seemingly native to this land I have found. Who knows what those hunting parties will find searching for food” said Garanthys
“I assigned Helgina to come along with them to examine their finds. She has the best penmanship out of any of us” replied the blonde Meerkat.
Suddenly, a Cataphrier entered the large tent and called out for Garanthys. It was one of the Commander’s best infantrymen and he had come to deliver a message.
“Commander Rredua wishes to speak to you General”
“On what matter?”
“An ambush on our troops by Velkese scouts, sir”
“For what reason was I not summoned earlier?”
“The Commander believed you to be asleep, sir”
Garanthys’ secretary slowly walked out of the frame of view as he now suffered embarrassment again for not informing the scientist of the recent events.
“At what time does the Commander wish to speak to me?”
“Now, sir”
Two large Imperian Cataphriers with iron armorplates and crimson epaulets entered guarding a shorter figure at the center of them. In the center stood the Commander- an Imperian Meerkat with a menacing stature and a thoroughly worn tan uniform. She held some sort of sabre in a sheath at her waist and black markings on her ears indicating her high rank. The Commander had a very noticeable scar adjacent to her right eye that looked as if her combatant had missed slicing her head open by an hair. Garanthys had seen the Commander before but never in this fashion with her “guards”. Rredua was likely assigned to Garanthys’ expedition for a reason- not out of her own curiosity or expertise in exploration. When the Great Rebellions in the Meerkat Empire broke out, Garanthys had heard of Rredua’s name before as a great Lieutenant who was ruthless in combat. She was renowned for her merciless techniques against those who would use the forests to their advantage by leading Pyrianhic troops to use flamethrowers and detect hidden threats. The Emperor regularly praised the great Commander’s actions as she rose the ranks of the Meerkat military. However, it seemed now that she was being downplayed by the Emperor as Rredua was recalled to take command of only 1,500 troops and shipped off to an unknown land with scientists who practically spoke their own language of esoteric jargon. Garanthys figure that some sort of punishment had been given to the once great Commander in the form of this expedition. Even when they shipped off, Garanthys’ first interaction with Rredua did not seem amicable- but rather a greeting out of obligation. Rredua never smiled or made any gesture of the sort- fitting with her personality. But in other campaigns she would have kept her stone-cold expression and become passionate in some occasions. The great Commander had no fluctuation in personality, almost bored or lazy. She still was serious about her small army that she had been assigned- punishment or not, it was an order by the Emperor, and by the Emperor it shall be done. She was not to have a weak band of explorers be decimated in the unforgiving lands of the unknown. Garanthys did not speak to the Commander often but he could read much from her facial expressions at times. There was a strong sense of devotion and loyalty to the Empire which was easily represented by her cold demeanor and mannerisms. However, Garanthys could sense that she was forlorn in some sense. Something felt off about this seemingly “legendary” Commander. Garanthys had his suspicions but kept them to himself for the time being.
“General, I assume your secretary informed you of the ambush this morning, correct?” Rredua inquired
“That is correct” lied Garanthys trying save his secretary’s reputation
“And you know of the… mishap that occurred?” she asked as she turned to Isryyken and frowned
“More or less” he replied “What exactly happened?”
“The Second Lieutenent of the Aalthri Platoon was killed and your rock collector boy usurped control. He was not ordered to do so and has no right to assume such position. Quite frankly it was the Platoon’s fault for allowing this child to do this. This is all merely some joke. That bookworm has no place on the battlefield. For his own safety, of course”.
She turned to Isryyken about to speak but he managed to get a word in before she could
“And so you will demote me? None of the Aalthri are willing to fill the position”.
To his support, the members of the platoon present in the messhall gathered near him. Rredua, triggered by the young Meerkat’s interruption, collected herself and did not acknowledge the innocent Isryyken.
“A child with no experience leading a platoon of cowardly Cataphiers is a mistake in lands such as these. But since he does not swear loyalty to any military oath, I will differ this decision to the general”. Rredua finally replied.
Garanthys decided to relinquish Isryyken’s position as Second Lieutenant but allowed him to live as he pleased with the rest of the Platoon. Rredua selected a Cataphrier named Dengidanu to be the Second Lieutenant but the Platoon were adamant about keeping Isryyken as a leader. He would live as a Cataphrier but have no obligation to the order.
“There are other orders of business we have yet to discuss” continued Rredua. “Those Velkese scouts we killed did not seem native to the area. Their cloaks suggested they were from the Supercolony of Taruzhia. There is a larger force out there and they could be hunting for us. We must leave camp as quickly as we can”.
“What of this large force in the area?”
“We have not confirmed a larger army but the Meerkats we killed were no doubt scouts. Taruzhia is an ardent supporter of the Blaverians- perhaps they know of the program”.
Garanthys expected enemy armies along the way- after all, the Empire was currently fighting an a large war with their own people. His measely force of 1,500 could not stand up to the great armies of the mainland but he was sure that the rebels would not waste their resources to take out a ragtag battalion of scientists. But he could not afford for the Empire’s adversaries to discover the reason for the voyage. This would sabotage everything and the expedition had just landed.
“Have the transports repaired and thawed out?” he asked
“They are ready for departure” she replied
“And what of the Hwakejjla transports?”
“I was going to consult you on the matter to examine the catch to ensure the wildlife was not harmful to consume”
The great Commander had been wise to consult the scientists before letting their Hwakejjlas feast on unknown animals where most Commanders would not. Garanthys agreed to examine the animals himself where the hunters were. Isryyken and Garanthys’ secretary accompanied him downhill.
“Before you leave General,” Rredua said before he walked out of the messhall, “Do you know of a certain Kemian Nyytsongkrye?”
“I do not recall the name. Is he of Surricatic descent?”
“He is a Enedoalnan Laeglassian. I believe his positions is 5 rays west of here”
“And his significance?”
“I have received reports from scouts saying that a large group of migrants landed just west of here and their spokesman, Nyytsongkyre, wishes to speak to you.”
Garanthys thought for a second if stalling in their position for a band of migrants to speak to them was wise and shook his head.
“Time has been unfavorable to us for three weeks and we can ill afford to stay longer. Dispatch a messenger and inform them of our southbound movement. Perhaps we can rendezvous at a certain position”.
“Very well, then” Concluded Rredua who promptly turned around and left with the rest of her guards. All strange and important events Garanthys had not been previously aware of and his secretary failed to mention to him. Nevertheless, his army would continue on the journey regardless of foreign armies or interlopers. The world of war he was familiar with would perhaps be only a fraction of what was to come. Garanthys stood unworried about the threats and thought about the road ahead. As far as he was concerned, Rredua would handle all of the warfare leaving his team of scientists to have the whole continent to themselves. Garanthys sat on the precipice of the secret to death and had the world’s strongest empire to guard his claim.

Thinking thoughts of quintessence ghouls being able to communicate telepathically with each other.
Thinking about Swiss, who's part quint, using it fully to his advantage when he's going down on Phantom. He's able to keep abusing his praise kink even with his mouth full. Between Swiss's skillful mouth between his legs and the repeated "so good for me, such pretty sounds coming from your mouth, you look so gorgeous from down here, good boy" that he hears as if the multi ghoul is saying the words right in his ear, Phantom doesn't stand a chance.

Fun fact: while not obvious in the English translation, if you listen to Chenya’s Japanese voice lines, he likes to say “nya” at the end of his sentences.
Will I keep that fact in mind anytime Chenya pops up? Absolutely.
Also, I just started my college classes again last week (which is why I didn’t post last week). All of my classes are dense with text and quizzes so…I need to study real hard which will most likely eat up my time for writing. Good ol’ inconsistent me~
Although, I’m taking History and we focus a bit on the age of nobility and old kingdoms…so maybe some inspiration for my villain/ess!au series (or maybe not cuz history is weirder than one thinks…)

How it happened
Perhaps a little sneaky, Ruggie is someone reliable, resourceful, and fun to be around. You started to fall for him and even that sneaky side of his became endearing to you.
But bigger, financial priorities occupy the hyena beastman’s mind more than anything else. Unless he can make a madol from it or get a freebie, his interest in anything else is seemingly non-existent. It was rather easy to keep your feelings to yourself when the topic of love rarely, if ever, comes up.
So it came to a surprise to you when the shaggy-haired sophomore mentioned his coworkers at a part-time job he picked up in town.
He started ranting about how a duo at his workplace started an unlikely relationship a few days ago. According to him, the two were from two different worlds and didn’t appear to be either of their types.
“Doesn’t make any sense if you ask me” he mumbled, scratching his fluffy head by the sudden revelation at his job.
You nodded and hummed as he recounted his workday with you, but in all honesty, you didn’t share his confusion over the so-called sudden pairing. By the way Ruggie described the couple, it does sound like their personalities wouldn’t mesh well and would theoretically clash too much for anything to bloom between them.
But attraction follows no simple formula. No one can stop themselves from falling for someone. You yourself were an example.
“Love is never predictable, Ruggie.” you commented without thinking, perhaps too distracted by the cute love story of Ruggie’s coworkers or it could be that you’re drowning in the warm feelings from being so close to your crush that your mouth is running too comfortably on its own. “I mean, I never thought you were my type but I still ended up-“
You shut your mouth before you could finish but looking at the wide-eyed expression on Ruggie’s face, the effort was moot.
“You still ended up?”
…Shoot.
What happens now?
Colour him shocked. Ruggie never entertained the idea that you would like him, out of all people.
He could’ve pretended not to figure it out, or convince himself that it was a misunderstanding. But he knew when he saw your flustered embarrassment and your cute stuttering trying to come up with an excuse, there was no misunderstanding. You like him.
Ruggie has a good amount of ego and he wouldn’t downplay his boyish good looks (odds are it got him out of a few close calls), but in a school of celebrities, royalty, and guys with money coming out the wazoo? He knows when he’s outmatched.
To be honest, his brain froze for a moment at your slip up. He clutched his heart which stuttered out of beat, his ears and tail stood in attention like a meerkat. Jack was worried watching his upperclassman in such a daze while folding laundry, heck it even got Leona raising a brow over the uncharacteristic clocked out look on his shorter dormmate.
But, Ruggie is a workaholic hyena. Always planning his way to work up the ladder to earn some good madol. Even if he likes the idea of making a family of his own, romance wasn’t in his peripheral vision at the moment. Not while he’s working multiple jobs at once. He would honestly feel a little bad because he knows he’ll end up ignoring any poor soul stuck with him.
As bad as it is, he might at first think to pretend he heard nothing about your feelings. He couldn’t bring himself to make you go through that, to be in a relationship where work takes precedence over you.
But then he thought it wouldn’t be so bad…snuggling up to you during one of his rare free time. Maybe you’re the type to surprise him with lunch and he could rest on your lap while you brush his hair. Would you maybe rub his sore muscles after an arduous club training session? Having boyfriend privileges means no one can complain when he slides up to your side, keeping your attention to himself without having to share…
Screw it, he’ll figure something out. He’s a greedy hyena through and through
Shyeheehee! Better be ready for what you’re asking for. Once I’ve set my eyes on something, I’m not lettin’ it get away!

How it happened
This man is a literal magic trick, appearing and disappearing to revel in the shock of his unsuspecting audience. As elusive as he is, the times he does show up brings a shock of joy and excitement to you.
It seems that the purple-haired student has made it a habit to join the Heartslabyul’s unbirthday parties from time to time, enjoying the occasional chaos and keeping you company to your conflicted delight.
You didn’t know why but Chenya made it his mission to fluster you every chance he gets, with cheeky comments and sly touches as he leads you away from incoming mishaps such as a stray splash of paint or a flying slice of cake. You don’t know why but the cat-like menace has taken a shine to teasing you out of the blue. Sometimes he would suddenly whisper nonsensical riddles into your ear, or tap your shoulder to then poke your cheek as you turn. Small silly pranks that should annoy you but your body becomes filled with butterflies when he smiles that charming grin at you.
How maddening, you thought as you fell for another sneaky surprise from the impish beastman. Once again, Chenya appeared right behind you, smiling just over your shoulder which gave you and your friends a fright (for different reasons) to which he took pleasure in, judging from the mischievous grin on his lips.
Your shouting caught the attention of the other Heartslabyul students and recognizing the white jacket and castle emblem, their eyes boiled with competitive rage. An RSA student? On Night Raven territory?!
“Ah, looks like fun time is over. I’ll just show meowself out~” and like a mirage, Chenya’s figure disappeared as the NRC students failed to catch even a strand of his fur. Not even when he took a second longer to fade out just so he could teasingly tickle the tip of your nose with his fluffy striped tail.
The students kept on making a fuss, eager to teach the mischief maker a lesson for trespassing on rival territory. You sighed at the wasteful effort, assuming that Chenya would be smart enough to have left long ago.
“Why must my crush be such a frustrating person?” Angry hollers and Riddle’s commanding cease-and-desist orders overwhelmed your tired voice, and your soft words ended up softly carried off into the wind.
But your words caught the interest of a curious ear before it disappeared.
What happens now?
Curiouser and curiouser. He was not expecting such a confession. Though to be fair, he supposed you didn’t mean for anyone to hear it.
Chenya found joy being in your company. The shock in your bright eyes followed by your cute laugh sends a warm, giddy feeling in his heart that he just could not stop. He had a feeling he knew what these feelings could be but he was content with what he could get in the rare moments he can see you.
But now, when he realized what your cute reactions meant? That sends whole new exciting feelings within him. It’s fuzzy and warm as usual, but now also shocking and thrilling. The sneaky beastman is grinning for more than one reason now.
He won’t immediately confess back. Considering this wonderful predicament where you don’t know he knows of your affections, his playful nature compels him to milk the fun of this situation for all its worth.
If you thought his cheeky antics were bad enough, you haven’t seen his flirty side till now. Playful taps on the shoulders become sneaky grabs by the waist, and just when you think he’s gone, his signature grin would grace your vision as he fades into view, a little too close to your own face. Sometimes when he feels emboldened, Chenya would sweep you off your feet for a spontaneous walk along the sweet breeze.
When you’re finally at your wit’s end, when all his teasing and heart-fluttering gestures fills you to the point of combusting in flustered frustration, that’s when he’ll finally tell you his reciprocated feelings, perhaps while stealing a quick kiss when you least suspect it. All to see that terribly adorable look on your pretty face.
Every adventure requires a first step. I’m excited to see where we’ll go together from meow on~

How it happened
See, you thought he already knew. You swore he did. Why else would he tease you so much with his sweet compliments and flirty jokes? The mysterious senior spoke to you as though you were a naive child crushing on their older peer, which you supposed wasn’t entirely wrong.
The way he treated you with so much care and love that you wondered if he already suspected of your feelings and was being considerate to you. He listens to your rambles as though he has all the time in the world for you, compliments you on your achievements as though he’s genuinely proud of your hard work, and he jokes with you with that boyish charm of his. But the scarlet-eyed fae never pursued further with advances with you, which made you think that perhaps this was just who Lilia was, a strange but friendly man, unwilling to hurt your feelings. Were you grasping at straws and misconstruing his intentions?
With a heavy heart, you tried your best to give up your hopes but maintained a cordial bond with Lilia, not wanting to avoid the jovial fae so suddenly (well, without having to explain why anyways)
But one day, when you were walking with the smiling senior, he started talking about a souvenir shirt that Kalim had given him during their club meeting. It was a shirt patterned erratically with various colours and pictures of tiny bats littered about. It was an eccentric visual of fabric but it strangely fits the equally eccentric man.
“What are your thoughts? Would I not look absolutely adorable in this?” Lilia asked, holding the shirt in front in his uniform with a boyish smile, his fangs peeking out slightly. But you rolled your eyes as you sighed exasperated by this man’s antics.
“Don’t you think that’s unfair for you to ask me?” You looked at him with a pout, somewhat irritated at the mature fae you’re trying to get over. “Of course I’d said you would, considering how much I like you”
For a rare moment, Lilia turned wide-eyed at your words. “Pardon? Do you by chance… harbour feelings for me?”
Turns out, he didn’t know at all
What happens now?
Guess you can still surprise this old man. He had his suspicions but for all he knew that was how the youth were these days. He was fond of your shy expressions whenever he was around and he could hear the quickening of your heartbeat, but he didn’t want to assume. Perhaps you were just more on the skittish side.
In the centuries he lived, he saw love in many forms. In the recent centuries he lived, he got to experience some of those forms of love he’s seen, with the pain and joy that comes with it. To him, it couldn’t ask for more as he lives out the last few centuries he has left.
You however, were still vibrant like a freshly bloomed flower in its prime. Was that why he just couldn’t take his eyes off you? He couldn’t help but watch in admiration as you lived with almost enviable vigour. He felt pulled, entranced to be by your side for even just a moment, just to see that beautiful gleam of life (and love, he realized) in your eyes.
But Lilia felt a beat of guilt in his heart. Your life is so short in comparison to his own. You should be sharing your youth with someone as brilliant as yourself, not pining over an old soul like himself. Humans are fickle creatures but he supposed with such short lives, it’s best to be curious and experience all one can without regrets.
He would be honest with you, sharing his thoughts with you as though warning that your affections were better spent with someone that suited you better. It would be up to you to convince the stubborn fae that he was your choice, that you already decided he suited you just fine. All you’re asking from him is if he shared the same feelings as you did.
“I may have tried to get rid of my feelings before, but I’m choosing not to run away this time,” in your eyes, Lilia sees that same vibrant gleam that mesmerized him, almost breathing a new sense of life into him. “All I ask is if you feel the same way”
And he does. He’s lying to himself if he hasn't thought of a life with you where he could steal surprise kisses throughout the day, where he could bring you to soar through the night skies as he takes you to explore the world with him. He imagines a life of silliness but also a life of blissful content as he gazes at you like a beacon of light in his life, a new reason to live a bit longer.
Lilia feels ensnared by love once more, but the burning warmth in his soul is just too invigorating. He’s looking forward to this new chapter in his life, with you.
I do hope you’ve prepared yourself, my dear. Eternal love with a fae should not be taken lightly. But rest assured, I look forward to our new adventure

How it happened
You were Epel’s close friend and confidant, someone who he can share his achievements and woes with. Being so new to the college, the two of you depend on each other through thick or thin and along the way, you grew to see the lavender-haired freshman as more than just a companion.
He has a bit of a temper and is quick to the jump at times, but he was always there for you and even though he doesn’t always see eye-to-eye with them at times, he respects his seniors and takes their lessons to heart.
When he talks about how much he dislikes his height or his feminine features, you nodded along for his sake but you couldn’t tell him that you were actually in disagreement. You adore his fluffy locks that you occasionally got to touch with his permission and his light blue eyes felt like calming waves of the purest lake. Epel constantly swore to you that he’ll have his growth spurt and will even tower Leona in height, but you like how you could hold him close to you without issue.
You love all that he is, even if he’s not too keen on some parts himself
But you kept this all to yourself. You thought Epel had other priorities on his mind and you were scared that confessing would ruin the friendship you’d built with him. For now, you were content to be by his side for however long you can.
You were dead tired during a particularly harsh Flying class with Coach Vargas and you were barely conscious enough to keep your eyes open. It took everything you had to just nod along to whatever Epel was saying, something about some Savanaclaw students?
“Who they think they are, callin’ me cute like that? I outta rip off their yapper for underestimatin’ me.” You weren’t helping his point when you thought how cute his accent was as he grumbled about his day. You were falling in and out of consciousness but thought you should at least reply back to your friend…anything at all…
“I’m sorry…that happened…even though…I think…you’re really cute…”
You were already out cold to notice your friend frozen in place as you finished your drowsy comment, your head landing on his stiff shoulders.
What happens now?
ALDFIUAHLBWAIGLH
Congratulations, you broke your friend and you don’t even remember it. When you woke up, you couldn’t figure out why Epel was as bright red as his hometown’s apples. Epel couldn’t even bring it up without getting too tongue-tied, his accent sputtering out incomprehensible words.
The blue-eyed freshman was raking his brain for an explanation. You thought he was cute…really cute to be precise, but what does that mean? Did you like him? As in like-like him? Is it normal for non-countryside folk to just say something like that? But most students around here tend to mean it like an insult but you weren’t like them, you would never do that to him. So what did you mean by it??
Left without a choice, Epel thought about who he could ask about this, maybe one of his seniors. But he immediately reconsidered when he realized who his seniors were (Vil and Rook will never let this go and there’s no way Leona would entertain this conversation) and turned to the only adult he can trust, his meemaw.
In his letter, he asked his grandma what it means when someone you cherish calls you cute (not mentioning who) and after a few days of fidgeting and awkward encounters with very confused you, he finally got an answer from her.
“STOP SITTIN’ ON YOUR KEISTER TWIDDLIN’ ‘ER THUMBS! GO AND ASK, DAGNABBIT!”
And that’s how you were confronted by a flustered Epel about your cute comment one random school day. To be fair, you probably didn’t fare any better when you realized you let your thoughts slip out.
You may have confessed your attraction to him but Epel can still be the first to make the first move. Relationships and dating are all new to the petite freshman and honestly he felt a little weak in the knees, all the nerves wracking his body like his first broom ride. But the past few days, he couldn’t stop thinking about being with you, sweeping you off your feet, impressing you the only way he can, to have your eyes solely on him like he does when you’re around. Heck, he thought what it’d be like to grow old with you, holding you like no one else can as you spend day and night by each other’s side. All these thoughts and more is what spur him to take the next step.
I ain’t too great on love and romance, but I’ll work hard to show ya how much ya mean to me. I promise that!

!!!!! Bsd light novels my beloved <3
I've been reading them too, they're so much fun!
Have you finished one already?
-meerkat anon
ehehe hi meer!!
But also yes!!! I've read the first one and I'm on the second. I figured that even though they mostly covered the events of the first book in the anime, I might as well read each one cover to cover (as how book adaptions work, they get stuff changed or cut out nodnod). But I'm really excited about book 3 because it's entirely new material!
I do find it pretty interesting how they turned book 1's plot and stuff into what they did for the anime--making it present day instead of the two years before the present? But I think they did a fantastic job with adaptation since it feels natural nodnod
No weird plot holes or things despite the anime only using maybe 2/3's of what happens in the light novel!
AH AND NOT TO MENTION--I find it incredibly interesting how you see how much improvement in writing there is from book 1 to book 2! I know that it's translated, but the fact still stays that book 2's pacing and descriptions and just the way the sentences are show how much work Asagiri put into writing! (iirc, he mentioned in the first book's afterword how he did a lot of work translating his usual writing into something more descriptive and book-like)
jdfosaiheifo BUT I DIGRESS, I'M GETTING OFF TRACK--
don't mind me and my literary analysis/excitement over this detail
OTL
Anywayyy, I've been meticulously hunting down the books at one of the stores nearby and I requested if they could get more of the books in (manga + light novel) so that I can buy directly from them nodnod
but >>
Nothing past what I already have yet ehe
ALSO ALSO THOUGH--how have you been?? And what books have you read so far from the light novel series??
