thinking about italian steve today
thinking about steve, who loves to cook and wants to get better at it, so he starts digging through the many, many cabinets in the harrington home until he finds an old recipe book written by his great-grandma. it’s filled with recipes he remembers his mom and nonna making when he was little, only problem is that it’s all written in italian
thinking about robin offering to translate it for him but instead, steve asks her to help him learn the language instead. it’s hard at first - the language is so different from what he’s used to - but robin is patient (surprisingly so) and helps him with the pronunciation and sentence structures until it gets easier and easier.
thinking about steve finally getting the hang of the language and inviting everyone over for a big italian dinner once he translates his great-grandma’s recipe book and basking in everyone’s praise and incessant begging to bring his tiramisu to every hellfire meeting and movie night from now on.
thinking about steve and robin taking advantage of speaking a language no one else knows to talk shit about everyone behind their backs. they bitch all about that one guy who takes forever choosing between two very similar movies at family video. they whisper about robin’s love life, for once not being scared of someone overhearing them. they joke about the party being little shits whenever steve so graciously drives them around town. this, of course, drives dustin nuts - he can’t handle not being in the know about everything that happens around him - which only makes steve and robin cackle even louder.
thinking about eddie somehow never catching steve speaking italian until he shows up unannounced at the harrington home one day (steve had given all of them spare keys to use whenever they needed). eddie’s daydreaming as he walks into the foyer but he stops dead in his tracks when he hears steve talking on the phone. in rapid italian. he stays there, flushed and frozen in the middle of the foyer, until he hears steve laughing and saying a quick “ciao nonna, ti voglio bene” and he has to scramble himself together to look somewhat presentable. steve goes to greet eddie but all eddie can blurt out is “what the fuck was that” as he tries to get his brain back online. steve just shrugs and replies “italian. you want a beer?”
thinking about steve noticing how flustered eddie seems to get whenever he speaks italian and using this to his advantage since eddie’s been having the upper hand in this whole will-they-won’t-they-situation they’ve got going on for the past few months.
thinking about eddie just melting into a puddle of goo whenever steve casually speaks italian and not knowing that steve’s just talking about the weather today or that he’s actually joking about loving eddie’s twenty-minute monologue about the history of metal.
thinking of steve becoming a little more brave every time and starting to slip little compliments in here and there because he’s still too chicken to confess his feelings in english. one time it’s a casual “tesoro mio” when eddie brings him lunch and another time it’s a “sono pazzo di te” when eddie makes him laugh so hard his stomach hurts. one day, when he’s feeling particularly confident and eddie’s looking particularly gorgeous, he leans over the counter at family video and plays with one of eddie’s stray curls as he tells him “mi sono perso nei tuoi occhi”. the rush of seeing eddie’s face turn bright pink stays with steve for the rest of that day.
thinking about eddie falling asleep against steve’s side on the couch one night and steve feel so warm and happy inside, that he whispers a soft “mi sono innamorato di te" against eddie’s hair. that particular phrase - i’m in love with you - had been buzzing inside his brain for weeks now but he couldn’t get himself to say it out loud. it’s too obvious, too revealing. but he figures it’s safe now that eddie’s softly snoring beside him.
thinking about eddie suddenly jumping up, wide-eyed and frantic, his voice a few octaves higher than usual as he says “wait, you’re in love with me?”
special thanks to @legitcookie @sidekick-hero & @cheatghost for cheering me on about this silly little idea. the things steve says in italian are as follows (my apologies to the actual italians, i tried my best!): - ciao nonna, ti voglio bene - bye grandma, i love you (familial) - tesoro mio - my darling - sono pazzo di te - i’m crazy about you - mi sono perso nei tuoi occhi - i’m lost in your eyes

Inspired by THIS picture of Joe Keery and the possibility that s4 Steve could have had the most glorious blonde highlights. we could have had it aaaaaall.
The bell chimes as Steve bursts through the glass doors of Family Video, bringing in a gust of the hot summer air with him.
"Shut the door!" Robin demands from behind the counter, lunging forward, exasperated because of course, that stupid door is getting stuck on its hinges and not closing properly right in the middle of summer. And Robin had only just managed to regulate the store's temperature after a pair of morons (aka, Mike and Will) had biked away and left it wide open.
Steve nods, looking like his blank, dingus self in his summertime attire: a baby blue polo and navy shorts that are far too short, giving Robin vivid flashbacks to their dorky Scoops uniforms. She looks down and realises he is, in fact, wearing an identical pair of blue sneakers he'd worn slinging ice creams and her mind drifts to what she could fashion in order to resurrect the 'You Suck' board. Between the outfit and his new hairstyle, he sure was regressing back to his peak 1985 lameness.
"Hi!" he announces, doing his silly little dad-jog to the counter.
"Oh my god!" Dustin shrieks, finally looking up from the VHS order catalogue he was 'helping' Robin look through.
The exclaim stirs Eddie, carefully selecting candies he is absolutely, one hundred percent going to pay for.
"Oh," he says, looking at Steve's hair, now almost entirely blonde with shining, fresh highlights. His face stays frozen in an 'o' shape as he practically collapses against the counter and holds on for dear life. Robin snickers, readying herself for some not-so-subtle teasing, but Dustin gets one in first.
"You look like a Ken doll."
Robin cackles, admittedly at her best friend's expense but, sue her. Henderson sure has a way with (bitchy) words.
Steve leans an arm on the counter, conveniently facing Eddie and smirks. "Always so complimentary, Henderson."
"Shut up, it looks good!" comes Max from the comedy aisle where she and Lucas have been standing for way too long.
Robin makes a face, knowing that all these little pocket moniless twerps are only in the store for the (not even all that good) air-conditioning.
Lucas elbows Max, offering a faint, "What the hell?"
"What?" she retorts, folding her arms. "He looks good."
The couple continues squabbling, the only intelligible words being, "he's lame", and, "but he has nice hair".
Steve runs a hand through said hair, likely knowing it's causing a store-spanning reaction because he's just that vain.
"Just got it done," he smiles like he hadn't spent the past week sitting behind the counter and not working while he was looking at hair magazines.
But he also looks like he's really only interested in impressing one very stupid, slack-jawed metalhead dressed head to toe in black despite it being the dog days of summer. Robin narrows her eyes and pokes at Eddie's bare arm in hopes of rebooting him to his annoying factory settings.
"Munson! You are being suspiciously quiet. What's say you?"
"Uhhh," he hums, looking Steve over before settling back on gawking at his goddamn hair.
"Jesus Christ!" Dustin groans, hanging his head in his hands. He gathers up his pen, paper and order catalogue and heads to the back room, continuing to act like he's an actual employee.
Eddie finally closes his mouth and gives a tight-lipped smile and Robin can practically feel Steve fawning over his devil-disguised-as-a-cherub dimples.
"It… It looks... good," Eddie mumbles, stuttering all the way and avoiding eye contact.
Robin snorts, realising the lovesick moron is just going to remain a melting puddle of goo, not worth teasing at all. She pushes off her wheely chair, sending it flying backwards as she heads for the returns trolley sitting abandoned across the store.
She misses Eddie eventually gathering himself up enough to move a step closer and quietly say, "You look pretty".
And all Steve can do is blush with a meek, "Thanks".

Adventures on grocery shopping on the start of labor day weekend (i.e. you fool, what have you done)
1) lady with smol child watches me smell then turn the baggie of hatch chiles around, eyeing it suspiciously. Smol child asks her what i'm doing. She pauses and then says 'i...don't know.' About this time i find the pepper that was minutes away from turning into terrible sludgy goo and extricate it, setting it gently to the side. Even that amount of motion was too much, and it sort of....melts. Smol child makes a wonderful noise of delighted disgust. Asks if their veggies at home do that. Lady says 'no, baby, that's what frozen veggies are for.'
2) there's sweet corn advertised right next to the chiles. I pick up an ear and smell it, again suspiciously. (I have been burned before, california. Your version of 'roadside fresh' and mine are very different.) Lady comes up next to me, starts picking up ears and ripping the dangliest tassels and husks off before bagging the ears. I look at the top of one, nope, set it back. Repeat. Find a good one. Lady has by this point stopped entirely and is watching me. "Well now what are you doing, then?" I point out the rejected corn has a tassel that looks icky, and the other one didn't feel heavy enough, and this one has nice goldenbrown tassel and feels heavy and is a nice green, and since i plan on cooking it, i peel back a bit of the husk to point out the nice fat kernels and squish one. Then i pick up the rejected one and peel it back a bit and the tip is bare and the visible kernels look dry. Lady's partner has come up behind her and says "you found another corn nut, huh?" She flicks him in the arm and says "no, i do not do...corn wizardry. I didn't even know corn wizardry was a thing. Thank you for the help, by the way."
3) someone says 'on wisconsin' behind me while i was talking about the corn and it is only later that i realize i am indeed wearing my ancient bucky badger tank top which would only be parseable as bucky if you knew what he was beforehand. I cannot see anyone around wearing obviously wisconsin or midwesty clothing. Did Chip astrally project just to fuck with me? i would not put it past him.
4) the human versions of the love children of abbot and costello / waldorf and statler are in the frozen food section (a madhouse because there are several sales ongoing) bickering while in search of bone in skin on chicken breasts, because you can't fry skinless chicken, what's the point? There is no point, that's the point. Maybe it's over there. Excuse me sir- sorry, miss- salmon candy, now there's a helluvathing. Is it good? Hm. Ah i don't think the boys'll go for that though. Is it like teriyaki? (I reply that it's not not like teriyaki but it's more like a nugget of smoked salmon that rolled into your pancake syrup.) Oh the boys'll go for salmon bacon no sweat. For sure. Why's the cold case so dark? Oh, they've shut for the night. Yeah yeah we should have come earlier maybe someone- oh here's the man, let's ask him. (No, they didn't sell well enough, they don't carry them anymore.) Oh that's the story we got at costco, too. I guess people just don't know what to do with themselves anymore. (The market down in (next city down the freeway) ought to have it. Maybe that safeway store too.) Naw, we're not going down there tonight, we'll just have to live with it. Well, there's drumsticks with skin on - ah, that's the fancy nice stuff, no sense in throwing that in a deep fryer...
4b) after this i encountered them again by the eggs, where the shorter of the two jokingly asked the woman with two kids and a very full cart if he could take the two packs of frozen breakfast links off their hands, and when she gave him the most 'i can't have heard that right' face the taller guy wheeled the cart around, clapped his hand on his buddy's shoulder, and said heartily "yeah that joke didn't land well at costco either!" before moving on towards the bakery department.
5) i inadvertently box out this poor guy around like three corners and one and a half aisles because i am not used to this layout and i can"t find the fucking laundry detergent and once i realize it is the same guy been behind me for way too long i dodge to the side and say "oh, i'm so sorry, i keep zigging in front of you." He laughs and says "no problem, basketball is a hard habit to break!" About 30 seconds later he appears abruptly behind a stand display thing, goes 'oop- oh, see, i got you this time!"
6) cluster of teenagers are standing in front of the big fall sale display. "Why is everything fall gotta be pumpkin spice. It's like turning into basic bitch season." His two friends snap with similar language "because it's fucking delicious, BRYAN." (Presumably) Bryan does the full body teenage eyeroll and says "okay, whatever can we just go find the fu...(eyeroll finished, he ends up locking eyes with me)...dge..." Having decided to lean in to the bizarreness of this trip, apparently, i say "i'm pretty fuckin' sure it's in the fuckin' bakery aisle." Cue cackling pandemonium. I add "the count chocula cereals are actually over in bakery, though, i passed them earlier."
7) i am in the rice aisle. There is a multitude of rice. There is no goddamn wild rice. There is 'countrywild' rice which contains no actual wild rice and wild rice mixes, all of which contain herbs not of my choosing and a buttload of salt and brown rice for fuck knows why and one of which contains fucking quinoa, for fuck's sake. This is a travesty and i am wounded beyond measure.
7b) someone laughs behind me, says "oh i'm sorry i don't mean to make fun ì just was not expecting a soliloquy in the rice and ethnic foods aisle."
7c) ...i have apparently said all that out loud, with my actual voice. Great. That's great. I retreat out of the rice aisle and text my mom to whine about the rice.
7d) fucking quinoa. Quinoa. WHY. WHY.
8) hours later after coming home and unpacking groceries and writing up this post i am still cranky about the lack of wild rice because i have perfect fucking asparagus and bay scallops and sweet corn and hatch chiles and i could be making a perfect fucking dinner but i am missing the fucking rice and yes okay i have calrose but it is not the same.

Remember the Time
Wolf x Reader
[*Note: My attempt at actually writing a fanfic wow. Have fun. Feedback is appreciated]
Originally when you first met Wolf, he acted like a cranky old grandpa. He's still a grump but just less than when you first met. Still even after all the time that has passed that the both of you been together, you were still in awe that somehow someway you managed to be with an alien. Often you found yourself fondly reminiscing about the past you shared with him.
It was a morning like any other. You were snuggled comfortably next to him. He was turned away from you his large body softly breathing. You simply observe his form and start to reminisce. Thinking back to the first time you met Wolf, you start remembering the circumstances that lead to where you were now.
You were working the night shift at the corner store. It was mind numbingly slow as usual. There were hardly ever any customers that would ever come in after sundown. You spent your shift mainly contemplating why this job even had a night shift or just looking at your phone. Bored out of your mind you decide to take some time to stand outside for some fresh air since it wasn't like there was going to be any customers anyways. Little did you there was a unexpected "customer" lurking around outside.
That’s when it jumps down in front of you, scaring you half to death. You had no idea what that thing was at the time but you didn't care to find out. You simply wanted to get as far away from it as possible. You desperately try and scramble back into the store. But that thing was much faster and stronger than you. It tripped you with it's long tail. Face to face with it now you saw it bare it's sharp metallic teeth. Saliva drooled from it's mouth like it was starving and you were a delicious meal.
This was the end you thought. You closed your eyes preparing for the final blow but it never comes. Before it had the chance to eat your face, something knocks it off you. You didn't know what just happened but you were just thankful that whatever or whoever it was got that thing away from you.
Frantically you run back into the store. You were on your way to lock yourself in the back rooms. Before you got there though you hear the store windows shatter. You hoped that beast that just attacked you wasn't back. Instinctively you jump behind the counter only peaking your head above slightly.
Peering from your hiding spot you see the beast that just tried to attack you laid out on the floor. It look badly hurt and was bleeding some strange looking blood. It tries to get back up but then you see Wolf walking in towards the beast. This was the first time you saw ever him.
You see Wolf deliver the finishing blow to the beast . It lets out a awful screech as it dies. After it's dead the Wolf puts some strange glowing blue goo over it's corpse. Whatever that stuff was made the body melt completely as if it wasn't there in the first place. Then Wolf just disappears before your eyes like a ghost.
You didn’t dare to move from your hiding spot. You were frozen in place and thought you were losing your mind. It was daybreak before you decided to even move. The store was still a mess from the event that transpired a few hours before. You didn't stick around to clean the mess up instead you got out of there as fast as you could. You knew that you'd have to explain the mess to your manager but you didn't care, you were going to quit anyway.
Somehow you crossed paths with him again. It was only a couple days after the incident happened. Maybe it was crappy luck or maybe it was fate but yet again you got mixed up in a pack of those beasts again. Wolf was there fighting a whole pack of those things. Watching him fight was pretty cool you had to admit, but it was not the time to admire him.
One of the beasts knocked a what looked like a gun from his hand during the fight. You saw it and managed to scurry over to it. You had saw how the beasts were surrounding him. Somehow you managed to fire the weapon killing one that was sneaking up behind him.
You were scared as hell during the whole ordeal not even realizing that you killed a beast yourself. Wolf of course notice what you did, he only let out a growl. Before you knew it he dealt with the other beasts and left. You were shocked you were still alive, even more shocked that you managed killed an alien and helped another. Little did you know at the time, this would not be the last time you two would cross paths.
You think back fondly of the next time you two met. You smile and let out a giggle thinking about it. Wolf looks back at you letting out a slight grumble.
"What are you laughing about little ooman?" He says.
"Oh I was just thinking about some things..." You reply. Your hand wanders playfully towards his dreadlocks. You let your hand gently caress them, making Wolf purr in the process.
You continued, "I was just remembering how we met..."
"Oh?" He says inquisitively. He turns towards you stopping your caressing of his dreads. He scoots you closer to him so now your head is resting upon his muscular arm. Wolf lets his other arm wrap around you and push you closer to his chest. Despite being with him for as long as you had, being this close to him still made you blush.
"What time were you thinking so fondly of?" He questions.
You chuckle,"Well I was thinking about the first time you let me care for you. Despite all the growling you did you still let me help patch you up."
"I remember that vividly, what's so humorous about that time?" He questions.
"It's just that back then you acted like a cranky grandpa," You say with a big smile.
"You still kind of act like that with me now," you said giggling.
Wolf doesn't say anything back and only grumbles at you. It's not the first time he's heard you say this nor the last. At this point he finds it endearing despite seeming annoyed every time you say it. On the other hand you find his grumbling cute in a way. He always does that when he gets annoyed, which is fairly often. He was grumpy by nature and you absolutely loved it. It made teasing him fun.
Even though you have lived with him for so long, moments like this with him were rare. He was either gone or busy most of the time so you savored times like this. You wrap one arm around his torso, cuddling him even closer to you, savoring the moment. You were definitely going to look back fondly on this moment.

A Hellish Encounter
By Drazzilder
Chapter 5: The Cold
It takes a few hours for Endeavor to get you released from the hospital into his custody. When you two finally make it outside, the sun is already starting to set and the sky is turning a hazy red. A black car pulls up and a gentleman comes out and opens the rear door.
“Right this way Mr. Endeavor.”
“Thank you, Lenard”
You enter the car nervously and sit down on the left side. He follows suit and you both settle down as the car begins moving. “Where will you be taking me?” You ask, a little fear in your voice as you still question if Endeavor is really on your side.
“You will be coming with me to my hero agency. We have a few beds there that you can use until you find yourself a place to live.”
“Don’t I need money to live somewhere. I was on the streets because no one would hire me or my friends.” You say with while clenching your pants.
“I will be paying you as my apprentice. You said ‘friends’. Was there more than just you and Adam?”
“There was 4 of us total in the group: Adam, Jason, Greg, and I all managed to escape the facility. We were all at the stadium: Jason made the large crystals and Greg used is fire ability to fuse them together.”
“Do you mind me asking where they are now?”
“I don’t know. That’s the plan we came up with. If things got to hot, I was to attract the FBI or whoever was after us so the others could escape. We separated about 2 years ago. I have been teleporting across the earth keeping them close but far enough so I could escape quickly. I ended up in Japan about 6 months ago but I think the people looking for me didn’t follow me here. I really miss my friends and I hope they are ok.” You say this as you begin to shake a little.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to…”
“It’s ok, they are strong and I know they will survive. So, what will I be doing as your apprentice?” You ask trying to change the subject.
“You will be training to become a hero. Combat training, crisis management, all the rules and regulations: everything needed to become a hero. First you will be my sidekick then you will work on being a hero by yourself.”
“Why?” You look towards your feet.
“What do you mean why?”
“Why help me? I’m a murderer, a monster, I have a demon living inside of me, how can I be a hero?”
“You have done more heroic actions then some full-time heroes. The stadium, the crossing, I know there are more you haven’t mentioned.” He places his left hand on your shoulder. “Let me help you become what I know you want to be: a hero.”
“What makes you think I want to be a hero?”
“Well, Zaheer, I know you could have taken over (Y/N)’s body a long time ago if you really wanted to be evil.”
“Hurting people does not come naturally for me. I do rather like (Y/N) and would rather help people.”
“Well that’s good to hear. Ah. It looks like we are here.”
As you look outside of the car, you see a tall building that must be the hero agency Endeavor was talking about. You both set out of the car and walk towards the building but you stop about 6 feet from the door. Endeavor looks back to see you looking at the ground, holding your right arm with your left hand.
“I….I….I don’t know if I can go in there.”
“What’s wrong? It’s just a building? It’s not going to hurt... wait. Does this remind you of the facility?”
All you can do is nod in agreement, fear flowing through your whole body at this point.
“Here.” The man sighs. “Take my hand and we can walk in together.” He reaches his hand towards you and you are almost shocked back to normal as you see his hand in your field of view. You take his hand in your left and you get that feeling again. The feeling you first felt when he picked you up at the crossing. Warmth. Everything during your years at the facility was so cold. Cold tables, cold probes, cold floors, cold food: everything was cold. But when he grabs your hand, you feel an intense warm go through your body. “It must be his quirk” you thought but you must admit, it feels so nice. This warmth manages to thaw your frozen state and you begin walking into the building. Luckily the elevator to the top floor is glass because it if was a metal box, you would have rather died than go in there.
“Welcome to the Endeavor Agency.” Endeavor turns to you with a faint smile on his face as you walk into the large room that you assume is his office.
“It’s really nice, it feels so warm in here.” You say as you sit on the couch, looking at the fireplace, exhausted from being so tense in the hospital. Your stomach begins to growl.
“Are you hungry (Y/N)? Why didn’t you say something sooner?”
“I’m used to being hungry, but I will admit the food at the hospital was better than anything I have eaten before. At least what I can remember.”
“You must be joking? The food at the hospital is ok at best. Why don’t I ask Sanji to get us some real food? Do you have any favorite foods?”
You shrug “I don’t know what I like, I’m just used to eating what is given to me or what I can find or kill.”
“You probably can’t make my favorite.”
“Why don’t I see if we can get you what I like?”
“I’ll eat anything so I’ll try it.”
Endeavor picks up the phone: “Sanji, please order us two of my favorites for here. Thank you.”
You patiently sit on the couch, almost falling asleep to the sounds of papers and pens moving across Endeavor’s desk. It is probably about 30 minutes or so until you hear the phone ring on his desk. “Your food is here Sir; would you like me to bring it in now?”
“Yes, that is fine.”
Sanji walks in with a tray with 2 meals on it and places it on the edge of his desk. “Thank you Sanji, that will be everything.”
“Yes, Sir” she leaves just as quickly and quietly as she entered.
“Come (Y/N), pick whichever meal you want.”
“What is it?”
“It’s kuzumochi. It’s made from wheat, it’s similar to jelly. Go ahead and take one, but don’t you dare make a mess on the carpet.” Endeavor’s eyes narrow at the last statement
“Ok.” You say as you begin to take one of the plates and a napkin. You head over to a seat at place the plate on your lap. The first thing you do is pick up one of the jelly pieces and begin to look at it, smell it, squeeze it. You notice Endeavor is looking at you so you quickly put the first piece in your mouth trying not to be rude. That’s when you begin to feel it, something you hate more than anything in the world: cold. The food is cold, it sends a pain strait to your head. You clench over your right eye and begin to make some pained grunts. Memories of the cold testing facility you spend so long in, the room, the tables you laid on for hours as they cut you open while you were awake. The screams of pain you made while the doctors continued to poke and prod at your insides. It’s becoming too much as your vision starts going black.
“What’s wrong? Are you allergic?” Endeavor has gotten up at this point and is quickly coming towards you to bring you some water. The only thing you manage to say between the pained memories flooding your brain is “too cold”. That’s when Endeavor realizes water isn’t what you need and goes back to the food tray and takes one of the cups of tea and hands it you you.
“Drink this…”
You take a sip and reality begins to finally go back to normal as the memories go melt away and the pain recedes. After a few sips you manage to catch your breath and look at Endeavor.
“I’m sorry. It was just too cold for me I guess.” You don’t dare want to tell him that it wasn’t a physical but mental pain that the cold was causing but you just wanted to change the subject.
“Continue drinking the tea, I will warm up your food.” He takes the plate and he uses his quirk to make his hand hot enough that the heat passes through the plate and gently warms the kuzumochi. He hands the plate back to you.
“Here, I made them a little warm for you. Hopefully this is better.” He looks at you almost apologetic but he hands you the plate and heads back to his desk before you could look at his face much longer. The second bite was much better. It wasn’t warm as much as it was body temperature. It didn’t cause a reaction this time so you continued eating, finally being able to enjoy the dish.
“Thank you Endeavor, it is really good. I never had anything like it.”
“Good. Once you are done, I will show you to where you will sleep and we can get your own clothing and toiletries.”
“That’s fine. It will be nice just to sleep on a bed after so long.” You smile a little as you rub the back of your neck. After you two finish your meals, you get a quick tour of the agency as Endeavor leads you to where you will sleep for the night. As he opens the door, you find yourself looking into a blank room with few sets of bunk beds and a table in the center. Your eyes widen. You begin to breath a little harder. At this point but he picks up on it and quickly closes the door.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t think. That must look a lot like your….”
“It’s ok.” You look down kinda ashamed that your emotions are getting the better of you.
“No, it’s not, I need to find you a place where you can sleep without stress. We don’t want you and Zaheer acting up again.”
“Hey, I can behave! But I have to agree that sleeping here would not be best for the both of us. Do you have another place in mind?”
“It Is getting late. I have an idea but I’m not sure how you will react.”
“What is it?”
“You can sleep in the guest room at my house. But you need to mind your space.”
“Really! You won’t know even know I am there!” You couldn’t hide your excitement. Being able to leave such an industrial looking place. Even though Endeavor has been the entire time, it’s still hard being in there. Maybe you can get over your past eventually see but not now.
“Don’t get too excited, you will be in my home so you will need to follow my rules.”
“I can do that.” You yawn. “I’m getting tired, can we go now?”
Endeavor nods as you two leave his agency. It’s just a short car ride to his home. It’s a traditional Japanese style of home. You two enter and are greeted by Hina.
H: “Good evening Mr. Todoroki, and who is your guest?”
E: “Hina, this is (Y/N), he will be staying with us a few days until he can find his own place.”
(Y/N): “Thank you, I hope not to be a bother” you bow trying to be polite.
H: “Isn’t he the man who saved everyone at Shibuya crossing?”
E: “Yes, he is.”
H: “Is that such a good idea?”
E: “Don’t question my decision, he is staying here.”
H: “Fine, but I’m not taking care of him, at least not without a raise.”
Endeavor narrows his eyes as he looks down at Hina. It’s only because of her personally, and being able to stand up to him, that she has lasted as long as she has. Only when you speak up does it break his glare.
(Y/N): “Endeavor, I don’t mean to bother but could you lead me to the room I will be staying in.”
E: “Yes, you must be very tired.”
You begin following him, “It’s nice meeting you, Ms. Hina.”
Endeavor leads you down a hallway into a room. The bed is on the tatami floor and a bathroom is through a door in the back of the room. He flicks the lights on and motions you to enter. You set down the few things you were given down on a short table near the bed and sit down on the bed. You look back at Endeavor with a faint smile. He just nods and says “Good night.” And closes the door. You quickly fall asleep. It’s so comforting to sleep in a bed you can call your own, even if is only for a few days at this bed. You finally are able to dream that night, the first time in years.

Percabeth Falling in Love
ok, I may have gotten carried away and written ~1000 words of Percabeth falling in love, but when inspiration strikes, you just gotta go for it!
- - - - - >
It’s dangerous to love, she knows. It’s the one area in life she doesn’t have a good track record in. Her mother doesn’t seem to trust her with anything. Her father is slightly afraid of her. The first boy she fell in love turned out to be a lot more sinister than she’d bargained for. And now? She’s not going to fall for this one. She’s not going to notice the twitch of his lips before he says something sarcastic. She’s not going to search for his mess of black hair in the crowd before dinner. And she sure as hell is not going to find his idiotic cluelessness endearing.
He’s not even thinking about falling in love. But she’s the most incredible girl he’s ever met. A lot of the girls he has had the pleasure of encountering are either extremely horrifying and trying to kill him or just plain trying to kill him. But she’s beautiful without even trying. And she’s smarter and braver than anyone else. When she smiles at him, he thinks his heart might pound out of his chest. When she whips her head up to look at him after he’s said something smart, he feels better than he ever did getting good grade. But then she goes and gets all pushy and angry. And he can’t even remember why he likes hanging out with her. Yet for some reason, he still wants to be around her. But he’s not falling in love. He’s not even thinking about it.
She’s falling for him. Hard. He’s nice to everyone, unless they’re bullies (like the gods). He’s brave and not quite as stupid as she originally thought. The way he comes alive near the water invigorates her as well. She thinks his eyes might be the most gorgeous shade of green she’s ever seen. She tells herself it’s just the quest making her feel attached to him.
She’s tough, and he can’t imagine the quest without her. She pretends not to care about what people think, but he knows she’s desperate to prove herself. The thing is, she doesn’t need to. She’s the most capable girl he knows. At some point, they’ve become friends. He realizes he can tell when she’s upset by something. But girls are so complicated that he usually doesn’t know what she’s upset about. He feels like he could spend all day staring into her eyes. He’s not quite sure why.
She kisses him. She probably shouldn’t have. But she’s worried she’ll never get another chance to. And it happens so fast that she almost wonders if she even did it at all. But his eyes are as wide as saucers when she pulls back, and he looks like he might be frozen. So she did do it. She runs away, hoping that she’ll see him standing when the battle’s over.
He stares at the spot she was just in, his mind whirling like a hurricane. She just kissed him. She kissed him and then ran away. He wishes he had time to think about it, but there’s a battle he needs to win first.
She’s crying. Everyone can see her, but it doesn’t matter. He’s gone. She can’t bear to look at the funeral shroud. She says he was probably the bravest person she knew. He is. Was. She knows it’s dangerous to care. But she does. She blinks back more tears, focusing her gaze past the gathered campers. She sees—wait!
He doesn’t expect to see a funeral for him when he arrives at camp. He doesn’t have much time to dwell on it when he sees her stalking towards him. He’s never seen her so angry. But they way she had been talking about him a moment earlier…Her gray eyes are as stormy as a raging sea, but she hugs him tightly. He’s too stunned to do anything other than hug her back.
She’s scared of the coming monsters. The campers done their best, but…a few dozen children against an army of monsters? The odds aren’t good. She looks at him every chance she gets, doing her best to memorize his features. His movements. His heart. If she dies, she wants her last thoughts to be of him. If…if he doesn’t make it, she never wants to forget the feel of his gaze upon hers. The look of determination in his eyes when he readies himself for a fight. The gentle touch of his hand against a pegasus and the strong swing of his sword against an enemy. And she’s hit with a realization. Maybe it was when he saved her from the sirens. Maybe it was when he came back from the labyrinth. Maybe it was a million little moments. Whenever it was, it doesn’t matter. She’s fallen in love.
He pictures her in the back of his mind all the time. Her wild mess of curly blonde hair. Her eyes gleaming with a new discovery. Her hand poised on the hilt of her sword, ready for battle. Her pulling him from the River Styx…He can’t shake the image. Deep down, he knows why it was her. It will always be her. She can be stubborn and brash and a know-it-all. But her resolve helps keep him on track. And her actions give him courage. And her wits have kept them from getting killed more than once. He’d really like to survive this war, and he knows why. It began the first day he met her. And grew with each adventure, each hug, and each beat of their hearts. He thinks he may have fallen in love.
He makes it to sixteen. It’s a miracle, really. She bakes him a blue cake and resolves to tell him how she feels if the stupid idiot doesn’t finally admit his feelings. She’s nervous, the butterflies in her stomach twisting and turning. She’s faced down some of the scariest creatures on earth. She can handle this.
He forgot that it’s his birthday. He knows he made the right decision, turning down immortality when his heart skips a beat as she sits down next to him. He tries telling her how he feels, but the words won’t sort themselves out and she won’t stop teasing him. And then she kisses him. For real this time, and he thinks he might just melt into a pile of goo.
When they’re thrown into the lake, the world becomes quiet. It’s nothing but bubbles and water and the muted sounds of their friends up on the pier. She grabs onto him, and he creates an air bubble around them. She’s never seen him look so happy and relaxed. She thinks she could stay with him underwater forever. And in that moment she accepts it. She’s in love with Percy Jackson.
Underwater, in their own private world, there’s no monsters or prophecies or quests. It’s just her. She marvels at the sea around them, and then her eyes lock onto his. Suddenly, he’s home. And in that moment, he can’t think of anything better. He kisses her again, knowing that he’s in love with Annabeth Chase.

Unpinned - Seared Fish with Creamed Kale and Leeks
Hello everyone - it’s been a minute. And Allan has been frequently playing NPR podcasts out loud. So hey! Welcome to the end of the longest winter ever to exist! We made it! I lost my energy to cook for a while there but I’m slowly getting back into it, usually sans instructions - I also subscribed to the NY Times and so now y’all are getting a newspaper recipe. We’re full adulting now. Buckle up.
Tumblr media
Seared Fish with Creamed Kale and Leeks! Ah crap, I’ve just realize this is two NY Times recipes in a row. I promise the next one will be a handwritten recipe straight from my grandma. She just bought me a new safety mandolin and things are about to get LIT in my kitchen as a result. Safely. Anyway.
Verdict: Is the Pintrest photo complete bullshit? Yes. But to be fair, this was a complete struggle meal for me that I did not adequately prepare for and I used freakin’ frozen cod so like what did I expect.
Is it crazy expensive/time consuming/confusing? I classify the NY Times recipes as ‘intermediate’; I found this to have what felt like more steps than necessary, and took a while. It wasn’t too expensive except that kale and leeks are on my shopping list maybe once every five years, and non-frozen fish would’ve been well worth the money.
Does it taste good? YEAH. Way better than it had any right to taste. You’ll understand why later.
Seared Fish with Creamed Kale and Leeks
INGREDIENTS
4 (5- to 6-ounce) Arctic char or other mild fish fillets, such as salmon
Kosher salt and black pepper
1 ½ pounds curly kale
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 large leek (about 1/2 pound), trimmed, white and pale greens quartered lengthwise then thinly sliced
6 large fresh thyme sprigs
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 cup heavy cream
1 ½ teaspoons Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon chicken or vegetable stock concentrate, like Better Than Bouillion
Cooked white rice or pearl couscous, warmed, for serving
2 tablespoons olive oil
Prepare your fish: Pat the fish dry, then salt the skin side to help draw out moisture. Set on a plate and refrigerate, uncovered.
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high. Prepare your kale: Pull the leaves off the stems and tear leaves into bite-size pieces. Wash vigorously, drain, then set aside.
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium. Add the leek, thyme and garlic, season with salt and pepper, and cook, stirring frequently, until soft, about 7 minutes.
Stir in the cream and bring to a boil over high. Continue to cook on high until thickened, about 5 minutes. Using a fine-mesh sieve set over a liquid measuring cup or small bowl, strain the sauce, pressing to extract as much liquid as possible. (You should have about 1/2 cup sauce.) Set aside the solids and return the sauce to the saucepan. Whisk in the mustard and stock concentrate, and season with salt and pepper. Cover and set aside.
Discard the thyme sprigs and stir the cooked leek mixture into cooked rice, if desired. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
Once the sauce is done, blanch the kale in the boiling water until just wilted, about 2 minutes. Transfer to a colander to drain and rinse under cold water. Once cool enough to handle, squeeze out the excess liquid. Add to the strained cream, then season with salt and pepper. Cover, and warm over low, stirring occasionally.
Cook the fish: Heat the oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high. Pat the fish dry a second time, then season the skin with pepper, and the flesh with salt and pepper. Add to the hot oil, skin-side down, and cook until the skin is crispy and golden, about 3 to 4 minutes. Carefully flip the fish and cook until the outside starts to turn golden, but the thickest part of the fish is still slightly translucent, about 3 minutes.
Divide the rice (if using), creamed kale and fish among plates and serve immediately.
Tumblr media
So here’s what you need! Sort of! You’ll notice I have store brand yellow mustard instead of dijon, coconut milk instead of cream, frozen cod instead of fresh char, no fresh thyme, and I forgot to photograph my (brown not white) rice. Like I said, this one was an unprepared-for struggle.
Tumblr media
Our beloved, trusty, 15 year old CVS rice cooker. Hasn’t failed me yet.
Tumblr media
My sous chef rushing to help get the dishes unloaded so I can have some space in our new kitchen! It has counters mounted facing each other with just enough room for a Rew and an Allan to get precisely in each other’s way.
Tumblr media
Do the ‘ol cold water dethaw on your bland fish. You couldn’t even remember to thaw the fish properly. You probably don’t deserve to be attempting a NY Times recipe. What were you thinking.
Tumblr media
Pretend you have any idea how to make kale edible. The stem seems hard so shred the leafy bits off? The smug smile is a lie.
Tumblr media
This kale will be edible right?! Definitely not curly, definitely not as much as the recipe called for.
Tumblr media
Leeks! I actually LOVE leeks, I just never interacted with them growing up and don’t really understand which parts you’re supposed to chop/cook/eat and which are meant to be tossed. It’s easy with a carrot - cut off the green and eat the orange. But leeks are just ombre gradients of green then suddenly white? We eat it all? Are some parts better than others? How much is TOO much leek? Special appearance in the background by fancy chocolates from Salem.
Tumblr media
Pardon my blurry photos, it is way past time for a new phone. They look like veggie clipped toenails. Delicious.
Tumblr media
Ok now it’s time to share my real shame: my coconut milk had spoiled. I did not have any cream. I did not have any real milk. I frantically googled different cream replacements, NONE of which I had the ingredients for. So I made this absolute abomination. It is (forgive me): vanilla greek low-fat yogurt whipped into plain almond milk with a little bit of melted butter stirred in. It smelled like frosting gone bad.
Tumblr media
OH WELL IN IT GOES. Things got vaguely...creamy. <eyebrow waggle>
Tumblr media
Then it tells you to squeeze all the cream out of your beautiful leeks. Easier said than done. This process was messy and resulted in WAY less liquid than I had hoped - if I’d used real cream I would’ve just...added more. Instead I had leek-flavored vanilla greek yogurt almond juice. DO definitely save the leek bits for your rice!
Tumblr media
Pour your pathetic amount of leek yogurt juice back into the pan and desecrate it with flippin’ yellow mustard and boullion. Push down the despair. Make sure to do this while hangry at like 9pm.
Tumblr media
“Blanche” your kale, aka give it a day at the sauna. Boiling water for just two minutes then squeeze the ever loving heck out of it. Everything you’re cooking for this recipe ends up with tiny portions WHY.
Tumblr media
YUM! Go mix your leek leftovers into your rice. Next time maybe just make leek leftovers and rice and skip everything else? At least this time you started the rice first, good job!
Tumblr media
Mix the mustard yogurt juice with your wet leaves. How did all those ingredients shrink so damn much? You are so hungry.
Tumblr media
Cook your fish. Remember at the very end you were supposed to, y’know, SEASON it. Absolute amatur hour over here.
Tumblr media
Your warm wet leaf goo! It actually smells very good. This is my smallest saucepan, if that gives you any sense of what a tiny portion this made. Thank goodness for leeky rice.
Tumblr media
Aaaaaaaaand plated! I told you it didn’t look anything like the Pintrest photo. It was promptly inhaled and while I know hunger is the best seasoning, Allan also agreed it was tasty despite him not liking any of the individual ingredients!
Final final verdict: I don’t have a ton of fish/seafood recipes in my repertoire, so I’m keeping this one around for now but would tackle it again with more kale and double the sauce ingredients, as well as, y’know CREAM and FRESH FISH. But for what a Frankenstein’s monster I made of it, it was pretty good!

Wish you were Here
Wish You Were Here
Steve Rogers x Reader.
Part Three
You had left Wanda's room a little over an hour. She had planned with Vis that you just wouldn't allow her to cancel. You couldn't take up her time crying over a guy that you never went out on a date with. So you wonder back to your room for awhile. The TV being the only distraction you need at the moment.
It was a little past one in the morning, when your stomach demanded that it was hungry again. You poke your head out into the hall, Steve had a habit of walking the base at night when he couldn't sleep. You had meet several time at night in the hall as you usually ate around this time.  Your heart sigh with an ache as this was how you two first began to bond.
Half way to the kitchen and the coast was still clear. You thought bitterly that it meant that Steve was probably in the room they put Peggy in.
Stop that!
Your brain snapped at you. It wasn't his fault that you fell for a guy that had a unbalance past. Granted that it was a past that wasn't suppose to meet back up. But it had and there was nothing you could do about it. You sigh as your mind wonder what it would have been like meeting him the same time as Peggy. Your scrunch your nose at the thought. Steve would still pick her over you, you just knew it. And with that though a sigh of frustration escape your mouth without permission.
“Come on Doll, it can't be that hard to find something to eat.” The soft voice brought you back to what your were doing. Which was standing in front of an open refrigerated. How long had you been there lost in thought? You didn't want to know as you bend down grabbing two bananas and two yogurt cups. Your stomach wasn't liking the idea of something heavy.
“You can be surprise at how hard it is to figure out what you want.” You wince at your words. They were totally about him but at the same time they weren't. You gave him a weak and tired smile as you left the kitchen.
“I knew it!” Steve was right behind you. He only had to take three large steps just to catch up to you. You turn around to look at him with a spoon in your mouth. Your raise an eyebrow at him and waited for him to continue.
“Your mad at me.” His words stop you in your tracks. Your action took him off guard as Steve found himself up against your back.  You took the opportunity to spin around and look up at him.
“Mad at you for what? You didn't do anything, it just shitty timing on both our parts.” With the last word you spun back on your feet and headed back to your room.
Steve had followed you all the way back. It wasn't until you felt his presence behind you at the door that you realise he was still following you. You push open the your wide metal door. It made a soft thump against the wall. You turn to look at him. Steve mouth hung open as he stared at something behind you.
Steve, what is it?” You ask after taking the spoon out of your mouth. Tears form in his eyes as he remain frozen in the doorway. You look around to see that everything was still in its place. You look back only to feel his sorrow gulping you up like a little fish.
“I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to forget about the vase.” You could see the scene back in the lobby play over in his mind as he stare directly into his.
“It's no biggie, Pietro ended up needing help anyway.” Your heart made up the words you spoke. Your brain however was not in the mood to forgive him so easily. You shook your head as if it was no big deal.
Steve suddenly reach out and cupped your cheeks with his hand.
“I'm going to make it up to you. I swear.” His words brought your heart to a pounding beat but your brain was quick to squash it. As long as Peggy was around here there was no room for you.
“Steve...” You began but he cut you off.
“No, Please don't. I will. Could I have the honor of escorting you to a Special Evening Hosted by Tony?”
You could feel Steve's warm breath on your lips as he spoke. That was how close he was to you.
“Special Evening? He's throwing a fancy party for the others?” You were confuse about this. But then again your brain kicked in. Of course he would. His father was back with him after all.
“I don't think that's a goo....” You started off.
“Please, I want to make it up to you. I'm so sorry I’ve been distracted but I'm serious about you.” His blue eyes was sparkling like gemstone that it make your heart melt.
“I don't know...”
“Please?” Steve held is ground like his fight, very tight.
“Ok, When is it?”
A burst of happiness emerge from Steve as he rounded you into a hug. You couldn't stop the creeping blush that heated your face.
“It's tonight, Thank you, you won't regret this. ” He chuckle as he set you back down. Your mind was whirling from his action that you almost missed when it was.
“Tonight? That sounds exactly like Tony.” You moan as you didn't know what to wear.
Steve left you with a soft kiss on the cheek. Now you were the one that was over the moon. And as always the lurking doubt stayed behind the curtains of your mind. Waiting to show themselves when things go wrong.
Hours later and Steve was true to his words he was at your door, alone, at the time he said. He was wearing a handsome black suit with your F/C flower in his breast pocket.
“You look incredible! He gushed over you the moment the door opened. He was quick to collect you into his arms, “Are we ready to go?” He ask politely as he regain his senses.
“Yes, I can't wait!”
The special evening turn out to be a late dinner banquet. Steve help you into a chair at around table cover in the fancy of things gold and platinum. Bucky and Sam along with their dates join the table as well.
“Ohhh don't you look all special! It's about damn time, you two!” Sam teases as he pulled you into a hug. He knew that you had a thing for their Captain.
'Stop!” You hushed him but knowing full well that Steve heard the conversation with ease. But being the gentleman that he was, he let only his blue eye dance with his knowledge. He pulled your chair closer to his. He was being true to his word that he was going to make everything up.
A little bit past an hour into the party Wanda and Pietro found you. You stood up after patting Steve shoulder. He smile brightly that you had giving him the notice and not just disappear on him.
“Wanda, You look great!” You both hug as though you hadn't seen each other in years. You laugh her comment off. Now it was you turn with Pietro. His appearance had stun you for a moment. For once his hair was nice and comb and he was dress in the most fitting royal blue dress shirt, paired with nice fitting black slacks. He wear a F/C tie. He had his hands shove in his pockets and you could tell that he was out of his element.
“Who the hell are you?” You question not caring that it cause a few eyebrows. The question made the uncomfortableness away and let a sly smile out.
“Ha Ha, You are looking marvellous.” His eyes were glue yours. Your heart start racing as you kept his eye contact. You were now so confuse on who your heart wanted.
“You look great as well Pietro.” You rounded him into a hug, “If anything goes wrong tonight, just look at me and I will get you out of here, Ok, Princess?” You usually hated being called that but with his accent it ran a shiver up your spine.
“Everything alright here?” Steve voice was low as you and Pietro pulled apart.
“No sir, not at all. Just telling Y/N here how beautiful she look tonight. It looks as though the show is starting, So excuse us so we can find our table.” Pietro was quick to his manners that it was hard for Wanda and You to not exchange looks. That would be bad as it would give away whatever Pietro was cooking up.
“Yes, yes, we will meet up later. Y/N, bye Captain.” Wanda help sell the part.
The lights dim next as Steve pulled you back with him. You were still daze by your sudden encounter with Pietro.
“Are you sure your okay? You look a little pale.” You smile as your eyes meet his. Just the blue dancing in the darkness brought your reasons back.
'I'm fine, just famish.” You lean into his arm, that was drape around you. Steve smile and kiss your forehead.
Heaven.
But all good things must come to an end, a saying your Mom told you a hundred thousand times when you were younger. Younger and didn't understand. But now you totally get it. Dinner was fabulous with the light, comedian story teller that Tony had performing while everyone was eating.
Then came the speeches from people from the past. It was then Steve and Bucky had excuse themselves. They made their way to a row of chairs that were set up behind another row. Yours prick with tears as you look up at Steve and his adorkable, shy, smile.
That's when Tony pulled up the honor guest. Each one took a seat in front of the people from now. Your heart swerved a bit as you watch Peggy take a seat in front of Steve. He was quick to reach down and whisper something in her ear. Sam patted you on the back as if too reassure his friend that everything was still cool.
The speeches were amazing with its heart warming and funny tease comments. You wipe your eyes, you don't know how many times throughout the evening. But by now, three hours into it, you were ready just to go home and relax. Maybe get Steve to stay and watch a movie. You purred at the thought.
As though Tony was reading your mind he began.
“And now for one last honor. Steve, Peggy will you join me?” Tony loop in between the pair and brought then to the center of the stage. “It's been almost a hundred years since these kids been together.” He started. Please don't, you begged in your mind.
“We have a little something special for them tonight!” Please, please don't! Your heart was breaking. And that was when hell came to play.
“We made a short video tribute too the two of you.” Sharon Carter, Peggy's niece, announced from the other side of the stage. This was your personal hell!
You blanked out on the next speech that was happening. But when the lights went out again it caught your attention. Your eyes couldn't tear themselves away from the wall size screen that began to play.
Lovey dovey music began to play and your stomach threaten to retaliate. Images of the two that came out of no where play out in front of them. Steve held Peggy in his arms. Who the hell where you kidding? You could never compete with a knock out like her. The movie was over quickly that you almost believe you image it. But what came next crush that idea.
“Let hear for these guys!”Tony got the crowed of people rallied up. Everyone was standing and cheering but you. Your heart was crushing leaving you frozen to the chair.
“Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!” The crowed of people started chanting. The scene left you speechless and yet you still watched them as the both lean in for a kiss. A small innocent kiss.
One one thousand
two one thousand
three one thousand
Four one thousand
Five one thousand.
You sat and watch as a friend peck become the monster of lust as it should have been all that time ago. The people roared in happiness as you heard and felt nothing. You tore your eyes away from them. The landed on a certain grey blue that happen to looking right at you.
“Help.” You mouth to him.
thanks for reading, peace and love kittens thanks for being there!

A Recipe for Disaster:  A Blurred Lines Spinoff Chapter 3: Family
hey hey I’m in the writing groove so I’m back with another chapter
Gacen discuses his decision to help Ash with Risha and old secrets come to light
Gacen took a deep breath as the holo switched off well this was gonna be difficult, he turned around to see Risha looking bewildered at him.
her mouth hung open confused “um what was that?” Gacen gritted his teeth he couldn’t think of any way to spin this positively
Gacen cleared his throat “I know I know, I’m sorry but I have to do this” Risha frowned at him clearly not impressed, he stood up and began to walk towards their quarters this should probably be a private conversation
Risha followed him “why?! why do you have to do this they can handle it” Gacen imagined they could but he needed to be on the mission not with her at stake.
Gacen had to come up with an excuse and quick “look without me they would have to hire another smuggler and I don’t know about you but I don’t really trust any other smugglers, I think 90% of them would sell those guys out” that was half decent he guessed, they made their way to their quarters and Gacen made sure the door was closed
Risha put her head in her hands “Gacen I thought you said you were done running off into republic danger and trying to be a hero” Gacen sighed he had said that and he’d meant it he was definitely being a hypocrite right now but how could he even begin to explain this
he put his hands on Risha’s shoulders “I know and I meant it, it’s just this one time I swear Rish just this once” she didn’t seem convinced, that was totally fair Gacen had made similar claims in the past
she took his hand “but it already seems so dangerous Gacen, just this once could be enough to lose you” that hit Gacen hard, he knew she was right this was extremely dangerous but what was he supposed to do leave her to die “I thought we agreed no more risking our lives for either of us” Gacen felt a lump in his throat he’d feel bad for using this
he folded his arms “then why are you still investigating Dubrillion, we agreed we’d wait” Risha’s eyes widened in surprise before she looked at the floor
she spoke quietly “how long have you known” Gacen already felt bad for bringing it up it wasn’t fair.
he held his neck “I never didn’t know but I never minded, you could’ve told me I get it it’s your home, your family it’s worth the danger” Risha looked up at him with a slight smile Gacen was always up for helping Risha with Dubrillion it was just about when. “That’s why I uh have to do this Risha it’s about my family” Risha frowned at him looking almost angry
but her anger melted away quicky as she sighed “I thought I was your family” Gacen felt a huge pit in his stomach she was right idiot why couldn’t he let this go.
He sighed he didn’t mean it like that now she was upset with him, he couldn’t just leave it but he couldn’t begin to explain what was going on or why what was he going to do how could he make her understand without telling her the whole story would she understand would she hate him for keeping it from her so long would she even know what to say he had no idea but he had to say something quick she was just staring at him. He began to hyperventilate as he stayed silent Risha could see as Gacen get more and more nervous her worry for him was clear and she quickly rushed over planting a long kiss on his lips.
Gacen felt the nervousness pass with her embrace as she whispered “whatever it is Gacen you can tell me I promise I’ll understand” Gacen felt tears well up in his eyes maybe it was time someone else knew and after all she was on his side no matter what
Gacen sat down on the bed “first of all you are my family Risha, my whole world please don’t ever forget that” he sighed “but this isn’t about found family” Risha sat down next to him looking confused
she frowned “what do you mean? you’ve never mentioned your family are they involved somehow?” Gacen had never talked about his home but it unfortunately had become rather hard to avoid these past few years.
He picked up a datapad “have you ever seen a picture of Darth Nox Rish?” he began to search her up on his datapad
Risha shook her head “no not really I’ve only hear stories of her well exploits” Gacen passed her over the datapad with the image of the red headed Zabrak woman without a word. Her eyes widened looking between Gacen and the picture “wait... no?” Gacen nodded slightly it really wasn’t so complex with the context he had kept hidden
Gacen sighed “that cruel all powerful sith lord Darth Nox is my little sister Kyradia” Risha still looked bewildered “and now she has been captured and is in danger” he paused taking a breath “do you see why I have to do this now” Risha’s mouth hung open as she put the data pad down
she took his hand “I guess but you still don’t have to, she isn’t your responsibility Gacen you know that right?” Gacen shook his head he knew he couldn’t leave her not like before
Gacen made eye contact with Risha “I used to think that, then something happened, something bad. Everything that’s happened since has been partly my fault the least I can do is try to save her” Risha nodded she seemed to understand what he was trying to say
Risha shuffled up next to him “Gacen I get why you have to go and I will try to accept that but I know you dumbass and I can say without a doubt this wasn’t your fault even with zero information” Gacen felt tears well up in his eyes as he hugged Risha she was wrong but e appreciated it.
Gacen held her for a few seconds “I love you Rish” Risha held him tight before letting go
Risha sighed “it’s uh wow kinda hard to process, have you known this whole time? does she know about you?” Gacen tried his best to clear his head
he held her hand “I’ll tell you everything after the mission I promise but until then I think I need to focus” Risha nodded looking him in the eye
“Ok I can handle that but you need to promise me you’ll be careful on this mission ok I still don’t want you going but I get why so you NEED to promise you’ll be ok” Gacen felt bad he didn’t know if he could keep that promise
he took a deep breath “I promise I’ll be ok Rish I wouldn’t leave you for anything” he planted a soft kiss on her before getting up.
As if on cue the door opened with Guss still covered in monster saliva “um not to be a tattletale but Bowdarr may have tracked goo all over the ship” Gacen and Risha both audibly sighed as they heard a distance wookie growl
It had been about a week since Ash called Gacen and finally they were gearing up for the mission, to avoid any chance of failure they couldn’t use his ship for some reason so he’d be leaving Risha in charge of the ship. This did mean he had to leave his precious ship though something he hadn’t done properly in many years, he had made sure to give it a goodbye.
Ash had docked in the hanger and knowing her was waiting impatiently for his arrival, he made his way to the landing ramp but was stopped before he got there
he heard a huff from behind him “where do you think you’re going without saying goodbye” Guss stood there looking grumpy at him
Gacen chuckled “Guss I’m only leaving for like a week or two at most you’ll see me again soon” Guss folded his arms clearly not impressed
Guss looked away “going to hang out with your new best friend the trooper?” his jealously was beyond clear “I mean she’s pretty cool but not quite a jedi” Gacen stifled a laugh he was adorable sometimes
Gacen smiled “dude you have nothing to worry about you’ll always be my best pal, and to prove it to I’ll let you sit in the captains chair while I’m gone” Guss’ eyes lit up clearly pleased with the gesture, that should keep him quiet.
Gacen chuckled there was no way Risha wouldn’t be sitting there anyway so it wasn’t a big deal, Guss smiled “I’ll sit at it to remember you I promise” ok weirdo Gacen thought as he turned around to see Risha standing behind him arms folded. He jumped back startled “augh how long have you been standing there” she just stood silently smirking
she put a hand on his shoulder “I still don’t agree with this” she had made this very clear during the week
Gacen nodded “but you understand why I have to do it” he didn’t quite know why but he knew he had to save Kyradia he just had to even if she still hated him
Risha nodded “yeah I do but you better keep your promise ok” Gacen leant in kissing her for a long moment
Gacen smiled “don’t worry Rish I’ll make sure of it” she held his hand for a second before letting him go, with that he headed down the ramp to where Ash was waiting “alright sorry about that crew wanted to say goodbye” Ash nodded clearly not understanding why it was so important
They headed towards the ship as Ash explained the plan “so over the week we have managed to find out a little more about what is going on, although we are still unsure of where Zakuul is we do know that Nox if frozen in carbonite so Arcann wants her alive” Gacen breathed a sigh of relief hearing that he wanted her alive was a big relief, then he began to consider why was it actually that good?
Gacen spoke up “is Arcann that bald masky guy who was like Im gOnNa sEt thE CoRe wOrLdS on fIrEeEeee” he mocked as they walked towards a weird ship he was unfamiliar with
Ash picked up on his confusion “yes he is... that guy and the ship you’re gawking at is one of Chiss design apparently they have had more common dealings with the unknown regions so should be more inconspicuous” the ramp descended and Gacen was met with a weird interior unlike anything he had ever seen.
he chuckled “your people sure know how to make it curved and alien, I dunno if I can fly this thing” Ash shook her head leading him to the cockpit
she pointed to the console “don’t worry the principles are basically the same and calling them ‘my people’ is going a little far” she lead him to the holoterminal “Kavaraa should be able to help you mask your presence to any force users and once we arrive your only job is to keep the ship running” Gacen frowned that seemed like a waste
he looked at Ash puzzled “Ash you know I’m more valuable than that I can help out in a scrape” Ash sighed looking away
Ash cleared her throat “I think it’d just be more strategically advantageous ok” Gacen raised his eyebrow not believing that for a second. Ash sighed mumbling “fine this is kinda dangerous and I don’t want you getting hurt considering you didn’t want to help the republic anyway” Gacen grinned at her well he’d be damned
he put his hands on his hips “Ash’shen’tor are you have an emotion?” he teased
Ash went purple “no! shut up” she looked away clearly embarrassed
Gacen chuckled “don’t worry Ash I’m all in on this one whatever you need I’m there” Ash seemed surprised
Ash looked at him puzzled “why are you so willing to help out?” Gacen’s eyes widened he wasn’t gonna tell two people one was a surprise enough
Gacen looked around awkwardly “I uh dunno I just feel like I owe it to someone” Ash narrowed her eyes at him
but soon relaxed “alright whatever I don’t care I’m just glad you’re helping” Gacen chuckled he was glad he was helping too...

Griffin has lost her Christmas spirit just like she thinks she's lost her best friend, but miracles do happen at Christmas when your heart is full of love. No magic AU.
Here's a holiday-themed fic that is probably a bit too angsty compared to what is standard for those but it has a happy ending!
38 - clear
“What do you want for Christmas?” Faragonda asked as she left her bag on the small coffee table that currently only sported a cup of green tea that Griffin loved to drink. It went with all the activities she enjoyed which was why she didn’t feel like drinking it at the moment.
“I want you to leave me to read in peace,” Griffin said without moving her gaze from the book she was holding. Faragonda had let herself in when she hadn’t gotten up to open the door. She usually wasn’t one to be unable to take hints so she must have ignored it and barged inside her apartment even though she knew she wasn’t wanted.
“Come on, Griffin!” Faragonda whined as she plopped herself down on the couch, bumping into Griffin on purpose to draw her attention. All it drew was more venom to the surface. “I need you to give me a hint.”
“I thought you’d be spending Christmas with Saladin,” Griffin said as she kept her eyes on the book. She couldn't look over at Faragonda lest she saw the hurt her words may have caused her friend in her eyes. It would make her soften and she couldn't allow that, for she was already too close to falling apart. “You won’t have time for me,” she said and she wished she could ascribe the tears in her eyes to the fact that she was staring so hard at the page it was a miracle she hadn’t bore a hole into it already.
“Of course I’ll have time for you,” Faragonda said as she wrapped her arms around Griffin's shoulders and her warmth was making Griffin's heart melt from the frozen cage it had been locked into after she’d seen her best friend kissing with Saladin at her office. She’d had some free time and she’d wanted to ask her to go grab a cup of tea together but instead of a hot drink and a warm conversation, she’d gotten the freezing realization that that was what Faragonda had been keeping from her. “I’ll always have time for you,” Faragonda said in a quiet voice as she rested her head against Griffin's shoulder as if she couldn't take the burden of Griffin's accusation. “Nothing’s changed between us,” she tried to reassure but all it managed to do was make Griffin's teeth grind.
“Please, leave,” Griffin spoke slowly, opening her mouth as much as the words would allow to make sure she wouldn’t break her teeth from gritting them together so hard.
Faragonda let go of her, sitting up, and it was like the sun had disappeared forever but it was better that way than only getting some leftover rays. “Okay,” Faragonda said, her voice raspy or perhaps that was just the edge of Griffin's thoughts that made it seem like that, “but we will celebrate Christmas together so you’d better give me some pointers when it comes to your present.”
Griffin closed her eyes and focused on breathing deeply. In and out. In and out. Focus on the air in her lungs not the burning in her heart.
“I could get you a book but you have to tell me which one you want. Or at least drop some hints because I don’t want to get you something you’ve already read. You should probably send me a list of the books you have since I doubt I can remember the titles of all of them. Or I could get you a plant? If you have where to put it.”
Griffin’s eyes snapped open and she dropped the book in her lap before turning to Faragonda who was looking around as if trying to figure out how big a plant she could fit in the empty space the apartment offered. She grasped Faragonda’s chin and turned her head towards her. “Are you going to stop talking any time soon?” she asked because her nerves couldn't take much more of that. There was only one thing she wanted but it was better to just accept it would never happen instead of breaking her own heart with empty hope.
Faragonda swallowed and shook her head. She either couldn't talk now that she’d realized how close their faces were or it was because Griffin was holding her jaw. Or it might have been because she’d finally figured out what her presence was doing to Griffin and why she’d been avoiding her ever since she’d seen her with Saladin.
“You won’t give up on this present thing, will you?” Griffin asked.
Faragonda shook her head again, but this time it seemed like she didn’t want to talk, it seemed like she was afraid of ruining the moment. And Griffin couldn't miss the opportunity. It could be the only one she had.
She leaned in and touched her lips to Faragonda’s just barely, letting go of her chin and closing her eyes because she was afraid of her friend’s reaction. She didn’t want to see her pulling away and leaving. She couldn't see her walking out on her to never come back again after she’d ruined what they had because she’d been selfish in wanting more, in wanting Faragonda for herself when she didn’t deserve her after the heartache she’d caused her with her behavior the past few weeks.
She barely held back the surprised moan that was on its way out when Faragonda pressed her lips against hers harder and moved them slowly, almost not at all, allowing the feeling of fullness and wholeness to sink in. It was like she’d found her complementary puzzle piece. Faragonda was like a natural extension of her being, like the part she’d been missing, and now that they’d been put together her thoughts and feelings ran to completion like they hadn’t been able to before. She felt like a whole person for the first time, like a person she could love when Faragonda was bringing out the best parts of her.
They had to pull apart for air, though she doubted she could breathe well when she was feeling the emptiness of Faragonda’s absence. To her surprise, she was still there when she opened her eyes and hadn’t disappeared like a product of her wishful thinking. She was there and she was looking at her with a gaze full of expectation. Like she was waiting for permission to touch Griffin’s heart and reach their joint being.
“Did I make myself clear?” Griffin asked, unsure of how she found her voice but glad she had. Now at least Faragonda could make her decision with open eyes just like she had when she’d decided to show her feelings despite the very probable consequences of losing her best friend.
Faragonda nodded, still not saying anything and Griffin was afraid that she would never get to hear another word from her again. But she still couldn't make herself regret the moment of total clarity that the kiss had provided. It had become clear to her, indeed, what she wanted and how much she wanted it.
“Goo-”
She hadn’t even gotten the whole word out when Faragonda kissed her again and this time it wasn’t just their lips that were touching. Faragonda came closer and pressed herself into Griffin, allowing their souls to touch fully and caress each other with the devotion and care that had always been a part of their friendship. For they’d loved each other all along and it was now clear to both of them.

When We Touch
read on ao3
He never thought that it would affect him so much. When he was walking around the city, he scoffed at the couple who felt the need to publicly display their relationship status. He’d be a little confused and a lot annoyed. Holding hands was trivial. Didn’t their hands get sweaty? Didn’t they feel on display?
No, Alec’s always thought that the simple act of holding hands was a sham. It was a thing couples did because they felt they had to.
He didn’t know.
He can admit now that some of his hesitancy, some of his disdain was pure envy. He never thought he’d get to have that and it stuck in his craw every time he had to watch someone else, strangers, have something he’d never be allowed.
He couldn’t have known how much a simple gesture would fill him with peace.
Having Magnus so near-- maintaining that point of contact-- shimmers through him. Their hands are warm, but not sweaty, and it’s familiar. It’s like having a piece of home with him.
They're at an indie bookstore, a place that claims to have been open since the Revolutionary War. Neither can attest to the bold claim but whatever its past, the bookstore is a favorite haunt of theirs. Whenever they can, Magnus and Alec like to spend a slow Saturday morning meandering through the aisles, browsing with the coffees they order in the cafe towards the back.
It’s a blustery November day, the sky steel grey and the smell of snow strong. They’d walked through the doors just as the first flakes had begun to fall, holding hands.
As soon as they’d started their walk to the store, Alec had reached over, grabbing Magnus’s hand, entwining their fingers. Magnus let him, a small smile on his face.
He never said anything but Magnus was endlessly delighted that Alec was so physically demonstrative. He hadn’t expected that from the stalwart, stubborn shadowhunter who had stolen his heart.
Alec’s focused on the feel of Magnus’s hand in his as they look at the range of books, occasionally taking a sip of their drinks.
He knows now that it’s not a need to flaunt a relationship that motivates a couple to hold hands. It’s the feeling of security, of warmth, that flows through him that has him constantly reaching for Magnus. Whether it’s in the Institute, on a date, or just grocery shopping, Alec is caught in Magnus’s orbit, hopelessly attuned to him and it seems a natural extension that he’d want the physical connection.
When Magnus drops his hand, reaching for a book that’s caught his eye, Alec misses his touch immediately. Fortunately, he sees a re-released edition of one of his favorite anthologies and gets lost in browsing for awhile.
After an hour in the cozy bookshop, they pay for their purchases, drinks long discarded.
Carrying the bag with one hand, Alec snags Magnus’s hand with the other, pulling him back until they’re in step.
Eyes laughing, Magnus says, “You do like having me close, don’t you?”
Alec’s lips quirk up even as he murmurs, “You know it.”
The two of them walk out of the shop and down the street, hand in hand. Alec doesn’t even feel anyone’s eyes, too focused on Magnus-- his smile as he tells a story, the adorable way he’s bundled up in his coat, the warm connection between them.
Alec loves holding Magnus’s hand. It’s a simple gesture but it means so much. It means more than he could’ve known to share something so absent with his boyfriend.
It’s another sign that Magnus completes him, has completely changed him.
Magnus wakes up to a face full of hair. He wrinkles his nose, shifting slightly under gold sheets. Alec moves too, rubbing his cheek on Magnus’s chest before settling back down.
Looking down, Magnus’s breath catches. Jesus Christ, he never gets used to it. He’d gone so long without anybody to warm his bed-- no one that mattered, no one that wanted to stay-- that he still can’t quite believe that he gets to have this.
He gets a shadowhunter, Alec, in his bed and in his heart.
Magnus has a prolific past. He makes no apologies-- he’d had a damned good time. But, this was what he’d been missing for so long.
Sex is fun and dirty and Magnus loves it. He also loves this- waking up to someone, knowing the familiar cadence of their snores and the way they look when the morning light streams through the curtains.
He loves being able to study and observe his partner in a quiet moment that is impossible when both parties are trying to make a hasty yet dignified exit.
That’s something that comes from a relationship and before Alexander, it’d been almost two hundred years since he’d had that, since he’d permitted himself the luxury.
As he lays on his back, Magnus moves a hand to Alec’s hair and sifts softly through the dark locks that are especially messy so early in the day. His mouth is parted and Magnus feels his breath against his chest.
It’s warm and familiar. They’ve woken up this way a hundred times and will a million more and Magnus closes his eyes as he lets Alec’s weight sink into him.
He playfully gripes and mockingly glares but Magnus loves being surrounded by Alec. His boyfriend is a fucking octopus but Magnus can’t get enough. He likes being pressed down, he likes waking up smelling Alec’s shampoo, he likes that Alec feels comfortable enough to let down his guard. He looks years younger in sleep and Magnus is the only one privileged enough to see it.
It’s not something that he thinks about often but Magnus reflects now that he is a very tactile person. As the High Warlock of Brooklyn, he’s can be cold and sardonic but for his inner circle, he likes the casual hugs and kisses in greeting.
With Alec, he likes holding hands and quiet mornings and being together in all the simple ways being a couple allows. Alec is the only person allowed in his apothecary when he’s working and it’s soothing, Alec reading a book in the corner, quietly watching him as Magnus works through a to-do list.
Magnus’s eyes flutter open as he feels Alec move, feels lips against his chest, an open-mouthed kiss on his sternum.
“Morning, baby,” Alec rasps, voice deliciously hoarse from sleep.
Humming, Magnus says, “Morning, darling.”
He smiles as Alec’s face tilts up and he shuffles until he’s hovering over Magnus. His cheeks are flushed, there’s a crease on his cheek, his eyes are soft.
Magnus’s chest aches. He looks like home.
Wrapping his arms around Alec’s neck, Magnus brings him down for a lingering kiss. Nothing heated, just warm contact to start the day.
It grounds him in the best possible way and Magnus knows he would do anything-- anything-- to keep this feeling alive in his chest.
Alec’s a shadowhunter born and raised. He’s a soldier, a warrior, and he has a reputation to uphold as one of the best in his generation.
He likes his image, has worked tediously and tremendously to carve it into stone. He’s unflappable, derisive, a worst enemy.
He also likes having his hair played with.
It’s a Wednesday evening and Alec and Magnus are watching a movie. It’s mostly background noise, Alec hardly paying attention as he lays on Magnus. His fingers are bare and carefully glide through his hair, scratching softly as his scalp.
He hums, content, and wiggles even closer to his boyfriend. He’s seconds from falling asleep but he doesn’t want to quite yet. He’s enjoying this in between space where he’s drifting with only Magnus to ground him.
It strikes him that before Magnus, he rarely touched anyone unless it was in combat, the occasionally absent hug from Izzy, a clap on the shoulder from Jace.
Alec always thought that he wasn’t very tactile. He didn’t like people in his personal space, it actively annoyed him when people touched him so casually.
He was not their friend. They had no right.
He’s realized how wrong he was. While Alec still maintained his concrete-edged personal bubble, Magnus was forever included in that.
Magnus had taught him-- or not so much taught, but he’d opened Alec’s eyes-- to just how much he craved physical affection. Magnus’s touch could bring him down, sweep him high. He’d learned how sensitive he could be, how soothing a hand in his hair could be.
Thankfully, Magnus seemed to enjoy it just as much. He touched Alec absently but there was always an undercurrent of purpose. They were to the stage where casual touches were familiar, commonplace. That didn’t mean Magnus didn’t crave that connection just as much, that Alec had somehow grown immune.
He snorts. As if that was even possible.
“What was that, darling,” Magnus asks, fingers stilling.
Alec grumbles. His eyes are closed and it seems an unimaginable tragedy that Magnus has stopped his ministrations.
Moving as little as possible, Alec reaches up and taps the back of Magnus’s hand.
“I just like when you do that,” he mutters.
He hears the smile in Magnus’s voice as he resumes running careful fingers through Alec’s hair. “I would never have guessed,” he teases.
Alec melts against him and Magnus hums, widening his legs a little bit more.
The two of them lay on the couch, happy as the spring air blows gently through the open french doors. It’s quiet joy but no less profound that they can share an evening together uninterrupted.
It used to surprise him, how quickly he submitted when Magnus took off his rings and started playing with his hair. He’d tried to act unaffected at first, like he wasn’t literally melting, sinking into Magnus into a warm but satisfied pile of goo. Magnus had granted no quarter though. Once, early in their relationship, Alec had actually whined when he’d stopped. Magnus had frozen before chuckling.
“There’s no need to pretend you’re above such things, Alec,” Magnus had murmured. “It’s expected that there might be some physical affection in a relationship, darling, and I promise that I love it. There’s no need to act tough with me.”
With that reminder, Alec shuffles a little, rubbing his cheek on Magnus’s shirt, breathing in sandalwood. He falls asleep with the movie still droning in the background and Magnus’s hands in his hair.
He’s exhausted and a little stupid with it. It’s been a long time since he’s felt sleep dragging at his heels, plucking at his very bones. He wants a horizontal surface and his goddamn boots off.
Magnus is standing by the door staring blankly at his shoes when footsteps pierce through the fog.
“Babe?”
He knows that voice and when Alec is less than a foot away, Magnus lets himself sway into his chest, resting his cheek against Alec’s heart.
Alec’s arms come up, hands clasping at the small of Magnus’s back and Magnus turns boneless.
“Hey,” his boyfriend says. His tone is amused, though there’s an undercurrent of worry. “Everything okay?”
Magnus hums, closing his eyes and breathing in the smell of Alec’s-- of their-- body wash. He must’ve just come from the shower.
“I didn’t really sleep last night and I had a dozen appointments today. My magic is running a little low and I’m tired as shit.”
Alec makes a soothing noise and sweeps a hand up and down Magnus’s back in broad strokes.
Distantly, he thinks he could fall asleep like this, standing up. It’s been so long since he had someone to come home to, someone who worried and cared for him.
He doesn’t think anyone has ever cared for him as deeply, as intensely, as Alec.
He has no idea how long they stand in the foyer before Alec takes a slow step backwards. Magnus follows on autopilot, itching for Alec’s warmth, his scent, his everything.
He’s a little delirious in his exhaustion but he’d know Alec anywhere and he wants to keep him close.
Alec huffs out a laugh and takes another step back. Magnus begrudgingly follows and their slow dance ends in their bedroom. Magnus peels his clothes off through sheer stubborn will. Left in just his underwear, Alec guides him to the bathroom. He props Magnus up on the edge of the sink.
Reluctantly, Magnus opens his eyes. His magic is thrumming through his system, faint but steady and he knows he just needs twelve hours to knock the fuck out and he’d be rejuvenated.
To be honest, he’s getting a little peeved that Alec is keeping him from bed. He just wants to fall into their sheets with Alec wrapped around him but no. He’s standing in the bathroom like a fucking fool.
His facial expressions must make his thoughts obvious and Alec just shakes his head as he opens the mirrored cabinet and grabs the makeup wipes.
He takes one out, unfolding it, and urges Magnus to close his eyes. As if he needed to be told twice.
He barely feels it as Alec starts slowly sweeping the wipe over his face. Starting with his cheeks, forehead, he wipes off foundation and highlighter. He grabs another and starts gently wiping away at the heavy eye makeup, the eye shadow and liner and hint of mascara.
Magnus relaxes into the steady rhythm. The bathroom is quiet, still except for the two of them and he sinks into the feeling. He can’t quite remember anyone else ever taking such time, showing such patience for him.
Magnus takes care of everyone else and he’d gotten used to being left out in the cold. Not to say that he didn’t have friends or others’ casual disregard didn’t occasionally sting. But, he was Magnus Bane and didn’t let it get to him. Too much, at least.
But with Alec, everything is different. Alec never needs to be asked, he is always there for Magnus, often before Magnus even knows what it is that he needs. Magnus knows it’s rare to find that kind of love, that strong of a bond.
Alec finishes taking off the makeup and Magnus’s eyes slowly open after a minute goes by and Alec doesn’t move.
He sees Alec watching him silently. His gaze roves over Magnus’s face, his thumb brushing against a brow.
“Beautiful,” he whispers.
Magnus smiles a little as he shakes his head, marveling at Alec’s words even as he denies them. He knows he’s attractive, has worked it to his advantage plenty in both business and pleasure. But Alec makes him feel fragile when he says that kind of stuff and he still doesn’t know how to handle it, even after years.
Alec doesn’t say anything else, just whisks Magnus to bed. Magnus falls face forward with a groan and Alec climbs in beside him. After a minute, his hand starts inching towards where Alec is laying entirely too away. He hits Alec’s side.
“Yeah, babe?”
“Come closer, Alexander,” Magnus says, voice slurring with his exhaustion.
He hears Alec laugh but he’s moving so Magnus doesn’t hold it against him. In the next moment, Alec is surrounding Magnus, his chest to Magnus’s back, radiating heat. It’s comforting and exactly what he needed after a tedious day and night running around like a banshee. That skin to skin contact warms Magnus to his bones, to his very soul.
Magnus relaxes, finally, falling asleep in seconds.
Fucking goddamn demons. They never know when to quit.
Alec grits his teeth as he hobbles into the Institute infirmary. A demon claw had pierced his thigh and he’s three seconds from screaming bloody murder, iratzes be damned. His entire lower body feels like it’s on fire and it just plain hurts.
Jace is on one side, Izzy on the other and Alec feels himself drop. It doesn’t go on long enough for it to be the floor so Alec assumes that he’s on one of the hospital beds.
He shifts, wincing, and wishes to hell he had left his office just five minutes earlier so he wouldn’t have been roped into the mission tonight.
The medics work for a few minutes and Alec goes in and out of consciousness in the meanwhile. He knows the injury isn’t fatal or anything close to it-- it’s a standard injury that’ll hurt until he gets some goddamn drugs in his system and will be a minor irritant by tomorrow morning. The poison from the claw is mostly harmless and just another annoyance on top of a shitty day.
He doesn’t know how long it is before he surfaces again, with one clear thought.
“I want Magnus,” he grits out, groaning low as the medics start prodding the wound.
Izzy’s sweeps a hand down his arm as she says, “I know, hermano. We called him and he should be here--”
“Now. I’m here now, darling.”
Magnus strides down the aisle between beds right to Alec, ignoring everything else in his vision except for his boyfriend, pale and bleeding and crying out for him. His eyes stray to the wound and he winces even as he reaches out. One hand buries itself in Alec’s hair while the other cups his cheek.
Alec settles down almost immediately upon feeling Magnus. It’s not that his leg doesn’t still feel like it’s being poked at with hot, rusty spikes but now he has something else to focus on.
“Magnus,” he murmurs, eyes closed.
He feels Magnus leaning close and latches onto him as a point of contact, an eye of a storm.
“I’m right here, Alexander. I’m not going anywhere.”
“Missed you,” he slurs, drugs finally taking effect.
He feels remarkably improved in minutes. Not that he isn’t still aware that he’s in the infirmary and that he was cursing like a sailor just a short while ago, but that’s in the past.
Now, as the pain-relievers do their job, he feels like he’s floating and the only thing keeping him grounded is Magnus’s hands.
Now that the pain isn’t taking his every thought, his brain gets a little clearer. He ruminates that before Magnus he would’ve suffered in stoic silence or would’ve swore until the air was blue. No one would be allowed to touch him except a passing gesture of comfort from Iz or Jace drawing an iratze.
Alec is well aware that Magnus has changed him and this is just one of the million ways that he’s done so. Magnus is comfort in all its incarnations and Alec will never stop craving him, no matter if it’s after a mission gone wrong or when he stubs his toe.
Alec doesn’t know how long he lets himself float along before a voice brings him back. He doesn’t want to surface but he’ll never ignore that particular voice.
“Darling, can you open your eyes for me? We need to ask a few questions.”
Alec doesn’t quite understand what the voice wants but it’s Magnus so he turns his head, nuzzling into the palm still on his cheek.
“Love you,” he murmurs.
Magnus hums and there’s a smile in his voice as he says, “I love you too, Alexander. Can you open your eyes for me?”
This time he deciphers the words and a frown starts marring his brow. “I’m tired,” he complains.
Magnus’s thumb never stops running across his cheekbone as he replies, “I know and this will only take a minute. For me?”
Well, shit, that’s something Alec can’t say no to.
It’s more effort than it’s worth in Alec’s opinion, but he pries his eyes open, wincing at the bright lights of the infirmary. They’re ruining the pleasant fuzziness in his head.
Magnus’s wide smile makes up for it. A little.
“There we go,” he whispers.
The medics ask him a few questions, usually more than once. Alec tells them an abbreviated version of what happened, they test the sensation in his leg and tell him his prognosis for the next twenty four hours.
Alec doesn’t really care. He just wants to sleep.
They finally leave and Alec turns to look at Magnus.
“You’re so beautiful,” he says, matter of fact.
Magnus’s lips quirk. “Thank you, love. You’re high on pain medication.”
Alec blinks slowly, raising an arm until he can place it on the back of Magnus’s neck. “Yeah, but I still love you and you’re still the handsomest man I’ve ever met.”
Magnus takes a quick look around the infirmary, insuring that that they’re alone, before he lets his glamour drop. Alec gasps a little and smiles like an idiot.
Magnus laughs even as softens. Alec’s reaction will never not affect him.
“I’ll make you a deal, love. You sleep for a few hours and then I’ll let you ramble however long you like?”
Alec thinks it over, though it doesn’t seem like he’s firing on all cylinders. “But I want to talk now.”
Grinning, Magnus says, “I know but you also need to rest. Take it or leave it.”
Finally, Alec agrees. “But only if you sleep with me.”
“Alec, that’s a twin bed and you’re a giant. There’s no way we’re sleeping in the same bed tonight.”
“I don't care. That just means we’ll have to get close,” he leers.
Magnus sighs, looking dreadfully put upon though there’s a smile lurking on his lips. “I’ve created a monster,” he mutters.
He does get up, though. He gently widens the bed a foot or so. This way, Alec doesn’t have to move and aggravate his injury and Magnus has a little room to maneuver. He takes off his jewelry, shrugging out of his jacket and slipping out of his shoes.
He climbs into the bed that’s hard as a torture rack and inwardly sighs. It’s going to be a long night.
Alec, however, is content. Magnus is obviously going to sleep with him and he can’t even feel his leg at this point.
Magnus doesn’t let him move, placing a hand on his chest when he’s about to shuffle. “Don’t, darling. Stay still.”
Alec listens and Magnus moves until he’s on his side facing him, arm over his waist. They’re as close as they can be for the night and Alec’s eyes close again, partly in relief but mostly because he’s exhausted.
“Sleep, Alexander. I’ll be here when you wake up.”
Alec hears the words as he sinks into the feeling of Magnus so close to him. Nothing seems quite so bad with his boyfriend next to him.
He has a minute to think absently, the infirmary is so much better with Magnus, before he falls asleep.
Magnus, for his part, doesn’t sleep. He watches Alec, watches over Alec, for the night. He kisses his shoulder, runs gentle hands over his chest, and lets out a breath every now and then.
While Alec was adorable hopped up on pain pills, he was also a menace and this wasn’t the first time he’d rushed to the infirmary after a grim phone call.
He needed the contact just as much as Alec. To know that he was safe, that he was alive.
Magnus stays sentry as the shadows grow long and Alec dreams.
Oh, how Magnus has missed this.
It’s a rainy Sunday and the two of them are on the couch, cuddling. Magnus is a very physically affectionate person but it’s been ages since he had an outlet, someone who he could shower in incidental touches and share hours of silence with.
He likes his fair share of alone time, has learned how valuable it can be and knows how necessary it is whenever one has grown to be over four hundred years old.
But this is infinitely better.
They’re lying on the couch, facing each other, and Alec’s face is tucked into his neck. He’s in one of his ancient hoodies and a pair is sweatpants and Magnus is wearing something similar. It’s a cozy afternoon and the two of them don’t have any appointments for the day, or into late tomorrow.
It’s just them and the sound of thunder in the distance. Magnus hooks a leg over Alec’s hip and Alec hums, burrowing deeper.
“You’re so comfortable,” he mutters, running his nose along Magnus’s throat.
Magnus chuckles. “Right back at you darling, he whispers.
No time with Alec is ever wasted. These moments are some of the first that Magnus imprinted when they got together.
Alec loves cuddling, another surprise that had both shocked and delighted Magnus. Magnus had worried, agonized, in previous relationships that he was too much-- too clingy, too needy, altogether more invested than his partner.
But with Alec, that’d gone out the window quick. They were in tune with PDA and affection behind closed doors. Alec loved the errant contact and deliberate time spent with each other and every time they do this-- which is several times a week-- they both sink into it, tensions easing.
They can just be together and it’s one of the most beautiful things that Magnus has been allowed.
Magnus is anchored by Alec’s touch. He’s a long line against him and Magnus feels their heartbeats sync, slow yet steady.
Magnus has had relationships for centuries. There was a time no contact was allowed at all except for a gloved hand or hidden embrace. But in the past few decades, it had been hard to be bombarded with the casual intimacy that couples display constantly and not feel an ache in his chest.
He has Alec now, though, and everything is brighter with him. His hugs are the best in the world and the way he seeks out Magnus, absently, on autopilot fills with him with warmth.
There’s a difference between sex and intimacy. While Magnus loves sex with Alec-- hot and fast or slow and lingering-- he also enjoys these moments that he’d gone so long without.
Alec’s the beat of his heart, the hope in his chest.
Magnus swims in the in between space, not sleeping but infinitely close. He wants to hang on to this moment for just a little longer.
Always just a little longer.
Smiling, he leans forward and kisses Alec on top of his head. Alec hums, moves closer.
Magnus shakes his head in wonder and lets his eyes close.
He’ll hang on to this with everything he has.

S.V - Ep.15: What Awaits in Zero Space
------------------------------------------------------------
EXT.  ANTARCTICA – Fallen Colony – DAY
------------------------------------------------------------
X teleports back to where he once faltered, feeling rejuvenated and more prepared for the dangers ahead.
He walks over towards the broken Colony. As he nears the crater, he can see the mysterious energy of the Zero Virus swell all around him.
He takes a deep breath.
X: (whispering) Here goes nothing…
-pan to-
------------------------------------------------------------
INT. ZERO SPACE – Level Indigo – DAY
------------------------------------------------------------
He jumps down inside the opening of the crater, which becomes the remnants of the Colony.  Immediately the unnatural cybernetic beauty of the place throws him off.
He drops down and spots a spike marl droid and destroys it. Then he swiftly walks over and drops down through a maze-like corridor.
When he drops down again, a series of deadly lasers fire at him.
X: What the-!?
He guards himself while falling down in the corridor below.
X: Alia, what was that?
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Be careful, X. They’re everywhere.  They caught me off guard too...
X widens his eyes in fear.
X: (v.o, thinking) Alia’s analytics are top-notch... To even surpass her abilities must mean...
He closes his eyes and takes a breath.
X: Sigma’s not playing around this time...
[INSERT TITLE CARD - What Awaits in Zero Space]
He transforms into his Force Armor and presses on his head gem.
X: Internal Tracer... I’m counting on you, old friend.
[RADAR]: Roger.
He drops down once more into an open corridor, where he is surprised to see Repliforce Soldiers in their Ride Armors.
X: Huh?
Then, a purple virus spectre phases in front of him into the shape of Zero.
X: (scared) W-w-what!???
REPLIFORCE SOLDIER 1: Get him!!
Both the soldier and the Virus dash after him, where X is forced to back-dash jump and blast the Soldier down with a Plasma shot.  Naturally, it goes through the Zero spectre, who just smirks at him and phases away.
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) ...It’s the Zero Virus, X...  I know it’s creepy, but.. try not to let it get to you.
X: Oh my God.
His heart races as he charges up and runs ahead.  He strategically takes down another Ride Armor soldier when another spectre forms behind the explosion.
X: Ahhh!
With wide eyes, X dash jumps away and narrowly evades the dashing spectre before it disappears.
He powers through and runs across to the end of the corridor where he drops down.
A short distance below, X lands on a small platform where his radar blips.
[RADAR]: Warning: 3 lasers, below.
His internal tracer locks onto the 3 targets for him, so X can prepare his moves ahead of time.
He jumps down and evades the first two, then has to do a quick dash to evade the 3rdone.  After dropping down once more, a 4thlaser almost disintegrates him, before his radar can analyze it.  He drops down into a more open corridor and pants.
X: Jeeez.
ALIA: They’re too fast and unpredictable!  Use the Dark Hold!
X: (gasping) That’s right.
His armor shifts into purple as X calls upon the power of the Dark Hold.  With a quick pose, time itself freezes.  The entirety of the blue Zero Space is coated in negative light, where X can easily see the lasers with a hue of beige ambiance behind him.
He quickly dashes down a set of steps and passes by 4 deadly lasers.  Then down another corridor with 3 more.  When landing he runs and dashes down to the next corridor which opens up the room with many platform traps.  He sees the lasers all around him that would threaten to destroy him had he not frozen time.
As he drops he looks at his gauntlet and watches the Dark Hold countdown to 00.  Suddenly, the negative space reverts back into X’s gauntlet and the Zero Space re-emerges with a green laser firing right at X.
X: Ahh!
He ducks and lands, staring up at the last laser that could have killed him.
Upon landing, his radar blips again to the few laser traps ahead. This time they are in a pattern from the floor and the ceiling.
ALIA: Be careful, X. You don’t have the Dark Hold any more.
X nods.
X: I know...
He carefully walks and dashes past the first 3 ceiling lasers.  Then, he dash-jumps beyond the next two floor lasers.  With a quick wall-jump, X dashes past a final short ceiling laser before he drops and lands in front of a gate.
X: Phew...

------------------------------------------------------------ INT.  ZERO SPACE – Gateway 1 – DAY ------------------------------------------------------------
X swiftly walks through the gateway as Alia com-links into him.
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) X...  Before you walk through that shutter, I just want you to know that we all care about you, very much.
X: (smiling) I’ll be fine. Thanks, Alia.
He opens the shutter and enters the lair of the Shadow Devil.
Only, when he walks in, he discovers that the target has already been destroyed.
X: What the Hell....?
He looks at a skull-shaped creature, which has been pinned to the wall by the Zero Virus and stabbed in the forehead by an electric blade.  The electricity continues to swell around the remnants of the deceased creature.
-FLASH-
------------------------------------------------------------ INT.  ZERO SPACE – Shadow Devil’s Lair - DAY ------------------------------------------------------------
Caption: 2 hours ago…
The Shadow Devil looms before Zero; a creature birthed by the Zero Virus, itself.
Zero closes his eyes and takes a calm breath.
ZERO: So it’s true.  We are his Children after all…
He allows his armor to shift into black as he stands before the Shadow Devil.
ZERO: …the only problem is…  I don’t care…
Without hesitation, he uppercuts the Shadow Devil with an Electric Blade, piercing it at the eye.
SHADOW DEVIL: Rooooooooooaaaaaaarrrr!!
ZERO: HAAAAGGGGHHHHH!!!!!
He tilts his saber down and impales it with a Quake Blazer, causing a massive explosion through the beast.
SHADOW DEVIL: RAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!
The goo comes apart and it swiftly tries to attack Zero as it reforms itself behind him. Zero simply floats with folded arms, while his virus barrier bashes away any globs that come in his path.
The Shadow Devil reforms itself, but forms it’s eye at it’s right foot in an attempt to trick it’s adversary.  It shoots a powerful fireball from it’s eye, directly at him.
ZERO: Hmph!
He bats it away with his forearm and slams a charged fist into the eye, creating a giant Messenko Giga Attack of dark energy, which tears it apart once more.
The desperate glob, remolds itself in the middle of the room in the form of an ominous skull. It propels itself towards Zero with a high jump, revealing it’s deadly spikes at the base.
ZERO: HAHAHAHAH!  You simple-minded fool...
Zero waves his right arm and then his left, throwing waves of his Virus aura at the skull. Four waves of the Zero Virus form themselves into sharp spikes, which pin the creature to the wall, just below his distorted master’s logo.
ZERO: I’m done playing into his schemes and living in his shadow...
He forms a Z-Buster and uses his lancing Thunder-God attack to pierce the beast directly through the eye.
SHADOW DEVIL: GRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The eye rolls back into it’s face as it’s Skull-like body explodes from the inside out.
Zero stands before the explosion, unwavering as his Virus aura protects him from the blast.
ZERO: This is My life. And I’m done living it for anyone else...
Zero walks away from the pinned down, melted beast.  It remains in the shape of a skull, with a hole in it’s forehead, where the eye once lived.

------------------------------------------------------------ INT.  ZERO SPACE – Shadow Devil’s  Lair – DAY ------------------------------------------------------------
Caption: NOW
X looks at the fallen creature with a confused frown. He powers down back into his base armor.
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) We didn’t want you to get your hopes up, but Zero has destroyed this monster.  We saw the whole thing through his coms while you were asleep.
X: …Huh…  Why didn’t you tell me??
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Signas thought it was best to let you discover this on your own…
X: What!?  Why??
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Everything happened so fast. We’re still processing it as this all unfolds.  …I’m so sorry.  I didn’t mean to keep anything from you.
X watches the defeated skull with an irate brow, but then softens his gaze as he wonders about Zero.
X: I don’t know what to think…
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Please don’t be mad.
He stares at the dead monster and almost smiles.
X: No, it’s not that. It’s just- Zero!  He actually fought this thing!  I’m.. really surprised!  And actually… Impressed!!
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Well.. I wouldn’t-
X: You think he’s still in there, somewhere?
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) I’m not sure we should-
X: Maybe he’s still on our side after all!
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) This is exactly what we were trying to avoid.
X: Oh, come on Alia. Can’t you have a little faith for me, here??
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) …I’m sorry, but we do not feel the same way about this.  I’m not as attached to Zero as you, so I can only analyze the facts.  He is a Maverick.  The same one who attacked Sigma, 7 years ago…  He corrupted Sigma!  He has had this Virus in him, all this time.  And even after everything he’s done as a Maverick Hunter, once a concentrated amount of the Sigma Virus affected him, he turned on you and left you for dead.
X scowls once again.
X: I haven’t forgotten that…  …but I can’t give up on him either.  Not yet…
-FLASH-

INT.  ZERO SPACE – Level Purple - DAY
------------------------------------------------------------
Caption: 1 ½ hours ago…
Zero continues to travel down a new corridor, where the space around him glows in the color purple.  No longer on the defensive, he allows his armor to revert to red and normalizes the pressure of his Virus Aura until it is not there.
ZERO: Ahh.. That’s better. What other surprises does the Old Man have for me?
Just then, a series of Repliforce Soldiers, mysteriously phase in before him.
ZERO: Hmph!  You again??
He narrows his gaze and air-dashes right over to the Repliforce Soldier, who quietly aims at him.
Zero floats and slashes the Repliforce soldier into pieces.
Then he proceeds to Air-dash into the next two that smirk and fire at him.
ZERO: Noo, you’re not Repliforce..  I can tell…
He Hisuisho dashes against the first soldier and drops down to the floor.
ZERO: This is SIGMA!!
He smashes a fist into the ground, creating another powerful Messenko Giga Attack.  The dark energy spreads right through them and tears them apart.
REPLIFORCE SOLDIERS: GAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!
He walks ahead and smirks at the last Ride Armor Soldier, who holds up a shield with his buster out.
ZERO: Hmph...
He forms a Z-Buster and fires it 3 times.  His Charge shots are extra powerful spirals that knock down his shield, and blow him apart in no time.
ZERO: Hahahahahahahah!
At the ledge of the corridor, he can see a series of platforms, which lead diagonally up towards the next floor up.  He doesn’t need to use them at all as he simply forms his dark aura and levitates himself high up to the next level.
Once there, he floats beyond a short wall, into a narrow corridor and walks into a couple of walk shooters, which he cuts down.  Another Ride Armor soldier, floats before him, but he lances through it with his Raijingeki.
He levitates up a short wall and air-dashes past two neo-crushers, who threaten to bash him down with their maces.
He drops down a short-distance and C-slashes a walk shooter that jumps after him.  Upon landing, he fires three more Z-Busters, which kill the next Ride Armor soldier and destroy another walk shooter. Then he dashes past a Neo-crusher. He continues to dash and use a quick Wind-shredder against another walk-shooter as he advances through the corridor.
He levitates past a series of spike traps, using his F-splasher dash, once again to a walk shooter that jumps after him. Another Ride Armor soldier points his blaster at him with a frustrated brow.
REPLIFORCE SOLDIER: HUUURGH. Get outta here!
He fires many blasts, but Zero just gracefully dodges them in mid-air as he gets closer to his target.
ZERO: Hehehe, never...
He tilts his saber and burns him down with a Quake blazer.
REPLIFORCE SOLDIER: GUUUAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!
ZERO: I’m home...  You just don’t belong here.
He moves on, out of the spike trap, levitating beyond a spiked wall only to find another Ride Armor Soldier, below.
ZERO: I already destroyed you Repliforce Roaches...
He slams another fiery blade down onto the intruder, who explodes upon impact.
ZERO: But Sigma keeps bringing you back.
REPLIFORCE SOLDIER: Damn you!
He blasts Zero multiple times, who bats the shots away like child’s play.  Then, he Denjin uppercuts the Ride Armored Soldier to death.
At the end of the corridor, Zero makes it to a ladder, which makes him smile.
He vertically speed-dashes up to the next floor with one boost, then he spots another Ride Armor soldier waiting for him.
Annoyed, Zero decides to take out his Saber and extend it into a giant wave of crescent shaped energy.  The slash disintegrates the soldier and chips at the nearby wall ahead.  Zero walks ahead and looks up to find that a hover gunner and sniper are shooting at him from above.
He levitates and electrifies his blade into an uppercut against the hover gunner.  Then he Hisuisho dashes into the sniper against the wall.  At the other side of the narrow corridor, a Ride Armor Soldier fires at him, so Zero Hisuisho dashes into him and performs a flaming uppercut to move past him and a second hover gunner.
He continues to levitate up the vertical corridor, when another Ride Soldier aims and fires at him.  Zero Hisuisho dashes up to him and performs his classic three-hit combo to destroy the soldier. A nearby sniper tries to shoot down at him, but he just blasts it away with a Z-buster shot.
Then he floats above, to a pole in the middle of the room.  The surrounding walls all have spikes, while a Ride Armor soldier awaits him and two hover gunners shoot at him from above.
ZERO: Hmph!
He grabs onto the pole, blasts the soldier away with his Z-Buster then fires at the two hover gunners up above him.
As he dashes up the pole with his wire-hook, he begins to pant, actually feeling winded for the first time since his battle with X.
At the end of the pole, two more Ride Armor soldiers catch him from both sides with charged blasts.
ZERO: AHH.
REPLIFORCE SOLDIER: HAHA!
REPLIFORCE SOLDIER: Gotcha!!
Zero dash-jumps over to the one on his right and retaliates with a Messenko Attack. The initial blast disintegrates the soldier before him, while the spreading remnants of the attack effectively destroy the soldier behind him.
Drained and actually feeling weak, Zero opts to climb the ladder up towards the top floor, where a gate awaits him.
ZERO: (panting) Now what...
-FLASH-
------------------------------------------------------------ INT.  ZERO SPACE – Gateway 2 – DAY ------------------------------------------------------------
Caption: NOW
X walks through the gate in his base armor with a curious look on his face.
X: (v.o, thinking) Zero destroyed all of them...  I must find out what he’s up to.
He passes through the corridor to the next shutter and opens it.
Once he enters the room, the cybernetics around him phase into a purple screen, which bears a large, ominous Sigma logo.
X: Hm?
The room then morphs into a very familiar design from Sigma’s Fortress.
SIGMA: (o.s, filtered) Oh, X...  Were you expecting anyone else...?
-pan to-
------------------------------------------------------------ INT.  ZERO SPACE – Rangda Bangda Room – DAY ------------------------------------------------------------
The colorful markings around the room display orange, gold, red, blue, green, white, purple and magenta.  Two symmetrical holes in the room are cut above a sun, near the bottom of the wall, which resemble that of a face.  There was no mistaking it.  This was a new Rangda Bangda Room.  This was Sigma’s doing.
X: Sigma!
SIGMA: (o.s, filtered) Hee hee hee hee!  Welcome to my Colony.  I hope you can /stay awhile!
At the dash a blue eye appears from the left socket and /comes after him.
X: Whoa..
He jumps back and fires a Charge Shot at it, then it comes after him again.
X: Agh!
He dashes away and shifts into his nearest power set.  His body becomes red and orange as he shoots a Ground Fire at the eye. This causes the eyeball to burn and retreat back into it’s socket.
SIGMA: (o.s, filtered) Heheheh.. Right back atcha, X...
A red eye appears out of the right socket and slowly moves towards the center of the room. Then it immediately unleashes heavy rapid fire in both directions, blasting the ceiling and the floor, simultaneously.
X: (nervous) Ohhh.
X quickly shifts into green, producing his next weapon, the Spike Ball.  When he attacks, it does nothing to affect the eye. The Spike Ball is simply blocked and retracts back into his buster.
X: Uhh.
His armor shifts white as he cringes at the oncoming fire.
X: (hurt) /Agh!!
He throws a Wing Spiral at the same time that he is shot down with heavy bullets.
SIGMA: (o.s, filtered) MUAHAHAHAH!!!
ALIA: (o.s, filtered, worried) X!!!
There is an opening in the gunfire spiral, which allows him to recover and sit up.
X: Aghh..  I’m okay. For now…
He narrows his eyes and shifts into dark blue and orange with his next weapon, the Goo Shaver.  He immediately shakes his head and switches to his F-Laser, which swaps the orange and dark blue coloration of his armor.
He dashes away from the oncoming bullets and carefully aims at the red eye.
The F-Laser is too slow and barely catches the eye as it retreats back into it’s socket.
X: Hmph…
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) We don’t have time for this.  Use your Gaea Armor and take that thing out!!
X: …I might have to.
Suddenly, the walls close in on X, as he recalls what happened the last time he was in a room like this.  Just like last time, they narrow the entire room into a short vertical corridor, where the ‘nose’ of the room is able to attack him.  This time it is in the pattern of a sun. If that wasn’t enough, suddenly spikes form at his feet, and almost kill him.
X: Ahh!!
He immediately jumps up and flashes into his Mech-like Gaea Armor.  He lands on the spikes and glares at the sun.
X: Damn you, Sigma.  I don’t have time for your games!  What have you done to Zero!??
SIGMA: Hee hee hee. Don’t worry about him.  He’s fine…  He’s right where he belongs.  You on the otherhand…  I’m surprised you survived.
He narrows his gaze as the sun starts to attack.
X: Well you know me…  I’ve always been resilient.
With a quick charge he blasts the sun decoration.  It crawls down the wall, towards him, but X simply clings to the other wall and blasts it again with a 2ndGaia shot.
The sun begins to dent, already appearing heavily damaged.  Then it retreats into the center of the room.
SIGMA: Oho, my!  This is quite an upgrade you’ve acquired.  I can’t wait to see what else you can do…
The room opens up once more as the walls retract back to their original areas.
X: Well, you’ll find out soon enough.
Just then, a green eye appears out of the right socket, behind X.  It immediately fires direct rapid-fire blue shots at X.
X grits his teeth and raises a gauntlet to block the attacks.  They harm him only slightly as he charges up and fires a large Gaia Shot at the eye. Then, another.  And one more.
The green eye relentlessly fires at X, but each Gaia shot overtakes the bullets as the eye shakes and retreats back into the socket.
From the left eye socket, the blue eye peers out again and throws itself right at him.
X quick-charges and blasts it with a Gaia shot before dash-jumping over it.  The blue eye follows him and bashes into X’s back.
X: (annoyed) Agh!
He grabs the eye, over his shoulder turns around and punches it, hard in the iris.
The eye cracks open and malfunctions, sparking from the inside.  It retreats back into it’s socket, heavily damaged.
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Whoa…  You’re doing great, X.  Keep this up and you’ll be able to escape this room in no time.
X: Good.  I’ve got to find Zero!
The walls begin to close-in again.
SIGMA: (o.s, filtered) Hee hee hee.  I’ve already told you.  You need not worry about him.  It is yourself, who should be worried!
The sun crawls down the other wall to attack X this time.  He fires a direct Gaia Shot at it, then clings to the other wall. Just then, other spikes form at both walls, threatening to kill him.  Thankfully, his Armor is impervious to this trap.
X: (wide-eyed, furious) Wow, Sigma!  That could’ve killed me!!
He drops down and fires another Charge Shot at the sun decoration, which nearly crumples upon impact.
X: Don’t you want another challenge!?
SIGMA: Oh, X…  I already know you won’t disappoint me…  I’m just testing your new abilities.
X: WHAT!?
He is struck by the sun, before it retreats into the center of the room again.
X: /igh..
He cringes for a second and then shakes it off.
SIGMA: Don’t you want all of this to end, X?
Suddenly, the red eye appears out of the right socket, once again.
SIGMA: Imagine what the 3 of us can do together…!
X widens his eyes as the red eye spiral attacks him again.  He puts his hands out to block the oncoming fire as he charges up.
X: NO.  Don’t tell me…
He quick charges and blasts the red eye twice, before the oncoming fire finally hits him. As he guards himself, the bullets barely phase him.
X: You’re trying to Will Zero into becoming a Maverick!!
SIGMA: Hee hee hee, oh no, silly boy…  He always was one.  And rather than punish him for it, it’s time to Accept it!
X shakes his head, distraught.
X: NNNNOOOOOO!!!!!!
He shoots at the red eye, two more times as it retreats into the socket, cracked.
The green eye appears from the left socket, where X does not hesitate to strike with a Gaia Shot. He dash-jumps into it’s rapid fire, allowing the bullets to wash over him as he quick-charges.  When he lands, he blasts it at a 45 degree angle, which shatters the green eye entirely.
The blue eye appears in place of the green eye socket.  X just charges again and blasts it with a charged Gaia Shot. The eye jumps out of it’s socket, coming after X, who dash-jumps away and destroys it in mid-air with a final Gaia Shot.
The red eye peers out from it’s right socket once again, and floats to the center of the room as the walls close in on X.  He blasts the red eye away before the spikes can form below his feet.
The moment the sun re-emerges from the back wall, X destroys it with a Gaia Shot and the whole room explodes around him.  With that, the Rangda Bangda trap has been destroyed.
SIGMA: (o.s, filtered) Very good, X.   Zero is waiting for just further ahead.
The damaged room opens up a new corridor, which leads further into Zero Space.

------------------------------------------------------------ INT.  ZERO SPACE – Rangda Bangda Room - DAY ------------------------------------------------------------
Caption: 1 hour ago…
Zero enters through the gate to see the room reveal the Sigma logo before him.
ZERO: (irate) SIGMA!!?  You have some explaining to do!!!!
SIGMA: (o.s, filtered) All in due time, old friend.
ZERO: Don’t you Dare call me that!!!  Nothing has changed between us!!  You got that!?
SIGMA: (o.s, filtered) Heeheeheehee, very well…  A fighter to the very end, I see. This will be interesting!
He opens up the corridor into the next room.
SIGMA: (o.s, filtered) Welcome home, boy. I’m gonna enjoy working with you…
Zero shakes his head, annoyed.
ZERO: Huuurgh.  No Way!!!

INT.  ZERO SPACE – Level Red – DAY
------------------------------------------------------------
Zero runs through the red draped corridor with intensely clenched teeth.
ZERO: I’ll Never Join You!!!!!
SIGMA: (o.s, filtered) You already have boy, you just don’t know it yet.
ZERO: NO!  This is MY LIFE!!!  And I’m done with the Mavericks and the Hunters!!  …Once I’m through with you, I’LL be the one to reshape the New World.
SIGMA: Heeheeheeheehee… Haahaahaahaahaahaa!  I’d love to see you try!!!!
The corridor narrows into a ramp with a short ceiling above it with threatening spikes.  He speed-dashes below and cuts down two mets in his path.
He continues to dash further down the ramp, encountering a couple of more mets and a hover gunner, before the room opens up into a more elaborate spike trip.
He smirks and sets up his Virus Barrier which allows him to float and drift passed the trap.  He flies beyond a set of poles, which he would have needed a wire-hook to advance through.  A few hover gunners shoot at him, but small waves of his virus aura are enough to crush them as he air-dashes passed a set of rolling gabyools on the long pole below him.
From there, he spots another large spike trap, where hover platforms allow passage.  He smiles at Sigma’s weak attempt at a challenge as he simply flies through the whole trap, uncontested.
He floats beyond a long stretch of platforms before he finally sees a gate ahead of him.  When he finally lands, he feels very tired.

------------------------------------------------------------ INT. ZERO SPACE – Gateway 3 - DAY ------------------------------------------------------------
Zero enters the gateway and drops down into a large open corridor. When he lands, he pulls out his saber, panting.
ZERO: (exhausted) Ahhh…  I’m still getting used to.. this power. Flying takes a lot out of me…
He walks through the open passage and enters the next lair.
When the gate closes behind him, he finds that no one is there.
ZERO: Huh? …No one is here.
He puts his saber away, disappointed.
ZERO: (calling out) Hey Sigma!  What gives!!?
Just then, a new cybernetic screen pops up, this time depicting a clear ‘W’ logo, which causes his eyes to widen.
Staring at the logo is almost hypnotic and therapeutic to Zero, as he remembers where he came from.  This was his master’s logo.  He was his ultimate creation, and up until now, Zero has been undoing everything his creator had intended in his master plan.
Zero narrows his eyes as he doesn’t receive an answer from Sigma.  He notices that the room is locked and there is no passage out of there.
ZERO: (smirking) Hmph… I get it.  Whether I like it or not, I gotta play into your game, right Sigma??
Still, no answer.
ZERO: X must still be alive…
He takes a breath and smiles.
An image of his old friend passes through his mind.
ZERO: Well…  It’ll be good to see him again, I guess…
He walks over to the far corner and sits down against the wall.
ZERO: I could use someone like him…  On my side…
He closes his eyes and folds his arms as he finally takes a rest.

Caption: NOW
In his base armor, X dash-jumps out of an intricate spike trap from a broken hover platform and catches the wall ahead of him. He slides down a wall, tired as he starts to kick-jump up.
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Wait!
X: Huh??
He begins to slide down again.
ALIA: (o.s, filtered, excited) I think, I can see something behind that wall!
X’s eyes widen as he continues to slide down and suddenly falls through a hologram of the wall below.

X: Whaaaooh!
X face plants before a pink capsule and looks up with a surprised smile on his face.
X: What the-?
He pulls out his black heart-tank, the two sub-tanks and the one power cell that he’s collected to unlock the capsule.
Once doing so, Dr. Light appears with a stunned look on his face.
DR. LIGHT: I never expected you to come here without the armor...
X: Ah.. I’m trying to be truer to myself these days...
DR. LIGHT: That’s very good of you to have faith in your own abilities, but it’s also very dangerous to go without adequate equipment. Especially in a place such as this.
X: Speaking of which, how did you get here...!?
DR. LIGHT: This capsule was always underground...  When the Colony landed, I was thrust into this strange Zero Space.  You must end it.  You must stop Zero...
X takes a breath.
X: I know...
DR. LIGHT: To finish this battle, I’ll give you another model of the Ultimate Armor.
X: NO Doc!  I can’t rely on that thing anymore!!
DR. LIGHT: You must. In order to become the World’s Champion, sometimes we must unleash the darkest parts of ourselves.
X: ..but I hate who I AM, when I wear that Armor.  I become this Destructive Monster and I can’t bear it.
Dr. Light shakes his head.
DR. LIGHT: It’s all in your head. It is not the power that you wield... But what you choose to do with it that matters in the end.
X looks at him and thinks about that for a moment.
X: (v.o, thinking) ...Could the same be for Zero...?
X thinks back to what Signas said, recently.
SIGNAS: (o.s, v.o) I don’t think you have to stop him. You just have to save him.
He sighs and nods.
X: Alright...
DR. LIGHT: Very well.  As you know, you can perform the Giga Attack an unlimited number of times.  But don’t get lazy...  Beware not to depend on the power of this armor too much.
X: Heh, I know...
Dr. Light smiles at his son.
DR. LIGHT: The end is near... Good luck, X!
Dr. Light dissipates and X enters the capsule.  When the brilliant light from the capsule washes over him, his base armor is reformatted into his Ultimate Armor once again. Only this time, he feels even stronger and his armor is coated in black, just like Zero’s ultimate form.
X looks at himself with big eyes and clenches his fists, surprised.
X: We really aren’t so different… him and I…
X continues to worry about the dark nature of his power set as he dashes out of the hidden corridor.

From out of the holographic wall, X dash-jumps up to the real wall above and climbs up to the open corridor with a few kick-jumps.
Once there, he dashes over to the other end of the block, where he can spot a series of hover platforms that lead to a gate at the far end of the corridor.
X runs, drops, dash-jumps and air-dashes from platform to platform until he makes it to the gateway at the end of the hall.

After entering the first shutter, X drops down into the open corridor, as the lights dramatically become dimmer.
X: (whispering) This is it… Zero’s here.  I can feel it.
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) …Good luck, X.
X: (focused) Thanks.  I’m breaking contact…
ALIA: (o.s, filtered) Understood.
X calmly switches off his com-link as he runs ahead and dashes through the next shutter.

X dashes through the shutter to find Zero asleep against the wall with his arms folded.  His virus barrier covers his body like a flame, while Virus Spectres of Zero can be seen flying around the room.
Once the spectres spot X, they fly directly into their host’s body and Zero, himself wakes up.
His virus power levitates him back on his feet, where he glares at his fated foe.
The two stand tall and stare at each other battle-ready, as the nostalgic logo of Dr. Wily taunts them in shades of red and purple.

...
Clad in your gifted gown you slid your fingers around the small purple, blue and green teardrop shaped crystal secured by woven mithril loops around the edge of the polished stone with small leaves used to secure it to the chain, a trinket you’d formed from a crystal you’d uncovered inside a stone you’d found in Valinor as a child. Turning your head you looked away from the spot on the wall you had been staring at in a daze back to the mirror with a short exhale at your long braid coated in jeweled pieces, under Thranduil’s insistence you had use of any decorations his vast treasury contained for the evening, or any time after.
His not so subtle continuance of trying to win back your favor in hopes of gaining your wish to remain in his lands once the Dwarves had wished to depart for whatever surely foolish path they had decided upon long before reaching his lands. Frozen in place his eyes scanned over you in the finest he had to offer on such short notice, even in your exhausted state and travel worn clothes a single sight of you nearly stopped his heart, a continued reaction from his first sight of you all those ages ago.
With a growing smile he claimed your side escorting you into the glowing ballroom with a relaxing exhale at your awed expressions at the final results of his efforts. Through the night you danced while the Dwarves mingled and partied between your glimpses of Thorin and Bilbo in one of the private gardens for a private dance of their own at the Hobbit’s wish not to be surrounded through his lessons on the Elven dances.
Later you claimed your seat again to enjoy a short meal before you joined the Elf King for a short tour of a few of his most prized pieces of artwork and his private garden. Slowly he led you through the winding path between your slightly swaying paths at the startling amount of wine you’d both didn’t realized you’d finished off until you teetered an inch too far and found yourself gripped tightly against his chest once again.
His body stepped backwards as uncontrollably he closed the distance, resting his lips against yours and sinking slowly into the kiss you returned while tightening your grip on the front of his robe. After a few brief moments he wet his lips and swallowed dryly when you pulled apart and nearly fled when you softly whispered, “Perhaps we should get off this bridge.” He nodded unsure if you’d only accepted his kiss because he’d left you no choice, releasing you after settling you down again. He followed you back to the other side of the garden where one of the countless waterfalls were placed to feed the small streams flowing through the rows of flowers and fountain.
Reaching the grass on the other side his eyes dropped to his hand you claimed and drew out closer to you in your step in front of him stirring a hopeful glance from him only broken when your other hand rose to brush along his neck guiding him down again to accept the kiss you rose onto your toes for. Within moments he’d melted around you, gliding his hand across your cheek and the other around your back, clinging to you happily through the amorous kiss eventually finding you against the rocky wall in the shadows beside the waterfall muffling the sounds breaking free from your joined lips.
A cold fin landing between your shoulders broke your kiss and freed a set of bubbling giggles from you as he chuckled lowly leaning his head against yours once you’d guided the fish back to the stream it was aiming for. Locking your eyes again you giggled as he watched the next set of fish soaring through the cascading waters and said, “We should get inside.” You nodded claiming another kiss stirring another chuckle from him when you released each other and he claimed your hand carefully guiding you across the bridge again and through to the door to his apartment where he guided you straight for the table of desserts and treats he’d set out for you both. Through the night each were tasted while you curled together between enamored lip locks soon bringing you to your place in his bed under the covers and your discarded clothes.
.
With the back of your shoulder being used as his pillow while his arm was being used as yours, only shifting when a pair of small feet landed on his hand. His head rose to peer at the small bird that had dropped the message it bore into his open palm, puffing its cheeks out slightly in a smile at the smiling King thanking him.
The hand curled around yours moved to quietly claim the letter and read through it while the small bird flew to the table along the wall to pick at the remaining grapes as the slowly tensing King read through the request for troops. Lowering his gaze he eyed your shifting body turning over to her back looking up at him and his soft smile when you brushed his hair behind his ear asking, “Bad news?”
He sighed turning his head to kiss your wrist gently, “Lothlorien called for aid. Orcs approaching their borders.”
Your eyes met again, “Is that unusual?”
“Happens before each winter. In Spring our northern border needs reinforcing.”
“Ah.” Leaning in his lips met yours, “You don’t have to go?”
Drawing you closer his arms circled you as he purred against your lips, “There’s time.”
His kisses grew deeper once again while you found a familiar place wrapped around him through your repeating of your claiming of each other while his body clutched you tightly to him, memorizing every inch, sound, taste and movement from you until he’d mentally passed on word to his troops with the news. Sliding out of bed he claimed one last kiss on his way to the closet, hearing you pulling your discarded layers back on while he pulled on his traveling clothes under his suit of armor you joined him to secure. Through your final kiss his white stone bearing ring was eased onto your finger as he softly pled, “I may be gone a week or so, when your business is done with the Dwarves you’ll come back?”
“I’m not certain how long I’ll be needed.”
He nodded, “I can come visit you then. Legolas mentioned your tour of Iron Hills, I’m certain Dain would grant me a visit as well. If I made a good enough offer.”
You smirked up at him, “I’m certain I could manage that deal.” Bringing his smile back, “I’ll send word when things are settled.” His eyes dropped to your hands as you raised the thin chain you’d removed from your neck earlier to secure behind his before you eased it under his armor. “Come back in one piece.”
His hand eased along your cheek through your kiss and slid free when you parted, “I will.” Sliding his hand down your arm until his fingers slid along his gift to you, “Stay safe, my Dearest Love.” His lips pressed a gentle kiss to your knuckles catching your unsure glint in your eyes you hurriedly masked then smiled at him once again and joined him into the hall before slipping back into your apartment while he went to join the forming soldiers floors below. Against the door you stood staring at the ring your fingers were stroking until you finally changed into a fresh set of clothes upon hearing the others slowly beginning to stir in the various rooms in the hall.
..
Scrubbed, changed and bearing a slightly tired smile when you joined the others at the table. Groggy smiles were traded between curious glances at the Elf King’s bare seat on your right along with the Prince’s until he slipped in a few moments later. Looking up you caught his large smile at you before he glanced at Thorin responding to his question, “My Ada was called away to Lothlorien for aid. He’s left me in charge of overseeing your safe travels.”
Thorin glanced at you curiously while the others decided to at least stay until lunch to rest a bit more from their hangovers before the Elves would guide you to the Elven borders where they would leave you to the rest of your journey. The ten guards taking the task watched with near mournful gazes at their New Queen crossing with the curious band of Dwarves and the brave little Hobbit curiously eyeing their surroundings. Nearly a full day you traveled until you had found the hidden staircase, the location where your first hand hold stirred a raucous rounds of cheerful jokes on your obvious established courtship with the smitten King that lasted nearly halfway up until sight of the ledge drove them closer to silence.
One carefully aimed spear you’d fashioned from the lone black arrow you’d saved from your time in the battles against Morgoth and Sauron later the splayed out stone corpse of the giant beast filled a large corner of the freshly lit forges earning cheers lasting until you followed Thorin to the main overlook to whistle for a passing bird to carry word to the Elves you were certain to be gathering at the loud roars Smaug had given off.
By nightfall you had settled into and scrubbed the Royal apartments you chose for yourselves once you’d claimed the Arkenstone from the treasury now glowing from the Ancient Dwarvish runes you’d woken sending cleansing pulses through the massive piles of gold. Quietly once again you’d rested on your back looking up at the ceiling of your new room silently hoping that the King and his men were safe as well as the forces from Lothlorien as well.
Large smiles covered the faces of the Elven group sent to deliver the supplies Legolas insisted on delivering to you, claiming the chance to congratulate you himself. Stepping closer to you he smiled wider asking, “Iron Hills has grown much closer since last I checked.”
You smirked, “It turns out Dain is headed this way instead.”
He chuckled lowly, “How fortunate. Haldir sent word our forces arrived in time and this wave should pass fairly quickly, much smaller than usual. Lord Elrond will be pleased as well to hear the passing of the Misty Mountains shouldn’t need a great number to patrol it this year.”
“When we crossed through to Moria we might have had a part in it, we passed around a set of goblin tunnels that collapsed as we got clear. That might help as well.”
He nodded, “I will make sure to send him word of that as well, he will be pleased to hear of any ease to our problem.” Glancing around he eyed the glowing runes then back to you, “Is this your doing, the runes?”
“I triggered them, they’re cleansing the mountain, even yours has them. Few phrases of Ancient Dwarvish and the mountain awakes to seal and cleanse itself again.”
He smiled larger scanning over your face again, “I must be heading back. Stay safe, Ada should be back soon, and hopefully able to make a visit of his own soon enough, I’m certain Thorin would be more than willing if you requested it.” Chuckling softly you returned his gesture of a hand over his heart before he added with a sentimental gaze, “For the record, mention of my Naneth, stopped shortly after she passed. Thank you, for getting Ada to mention her again. If you doubted my agreement to the union please do not. Whole heartedly you have it. I look forward to learning you better.”
“And I you, Prince Legolas.”
He chuckled softly, “Ada calls me Little Leaf, feel free to do the same, Naneth.”
.
Echoes of Gandalf’s laugh echoed through the mountain as you led Bilbo into your room to fetch an old map you and Ori had been discussing about the Ancient Dwarvish lands you had explored. Glancing back at Bilbo mid sentence your bag slipped and spilled off of the bed, “I still don’t quite understand it, why did he get so upset I washed my own hair?”
You giggled bending as he did to pull everything back into your bag, “Braiding is a sign of courtship, hair is special. Early on in courting to wash your One’s hair is an act of bonding.” He met your gaze, “It’s intimate, just let him next time, you’ll see.”
He sighed lowering his eyes to grab your spare jacket only to furrow his brows at the golden ring that clattered to the floor, “Is this from the Elf King?” setting the jacket in your bag he glanced up catching your wide eyed gaze at the ring before your clear shout for the Wizard.
Boots thundered to your room as you pulled Bilbo to your side allowing the Wizard to see your problem, “It was in my bag.” He met your gaze then glanced down at it again with a steady huff, “No one touch it. I’ll send for the Eagles.”
They all eyed it before Thorin eased around the room making his way to Bilbo’s side, pulling him onto your bed to add to the distance between his One and the cursed object, snuggling him tightly in his arms as he glared at the golden band you raised with the tongs from your fireplace Bofur passed you to place it in the metal mint tin Nori emptied into one of his spare jars to secure it in while Balin found a stick of wax to melt sealing it shut before you slid it back into your bag again as Gandalf reentered your doorway, “They will be here by morning. We need to prepare.”
You nodded and Balin said, “Who will you take with you Lass?”
You glanced at Thorin, “You’re needed here, to defend the Mountain.”
Thorin replied, “You aren’t going alone.” He looked at his Nephews, “Dwalin and I will go. The rest can remain behind to greet Dain when he arrives, should he arrive before we return.”
Fili and Kili nodded along with the others as Gandalf looked over you all and said, “Agreed. A small group is best. The four of us would make it there quickly.”
Bilbo quickly responded, “Five. I’m going too!”
All eyes turned to Thorin as his arms tightened around his middle and he buried his head in the Hobbit’s hair, replying with a muffled, “No. You’ll stay where it’s safe.”
Bilbo inhaled sharply replying, “No.” Pulling free from his tight grip in an awkward giggle to grip one of the braids around his face saying firmly, “We’re courting, and if you expect me to stand by you as a King I am certainly not going to leave you to this alone. Now we all started this together and you and your stubbornness is no match for mine. What you need is a burglar and that is what I am, my uses are limited outside of the Shire it seems but I am certain this is my place an you cannot stop me from claiming it.”
Releasing the King’s braid he crossed his arms trying to hold his firm expression at Dwalin’s snort through Fili and Kili’s bubbling chuckles before Balin said to the Dwarf King with the proud smirk twitching onto his face, “Dis certainly will have a stern ally when she arrives. Aunt Dia surely would approve as well.”
Thorin sighed melting into an adoring gaze before pulling Bilbo back to his chest after a turn to snuggle around him and mumble into his hair, “Fine. But you’re not leaving my side.”
Deep within the forest word rippled of the news of the large eagles returning once more while whispers of the destroyed kingdom or Mordor spread through the forests of the world on a swift breeze easing the worries of where you could have possibly gone to when they had first arrived. With an exhausted sigh you slumped back onto your bed when your boots were dropped onto the ground after you’d shook your feet free from them and rested your hands up over your head only to open your eyes at the pair of knees they hit. Blinking curiously Tauriel’s face came into view as she peered over you with a soft smile saying, “Queen Pear, Prince Legolas sent me to check if you’d returned yet, along with another round of supplies for the Company. I heard the eagles and came to speak to you directly, I hope you don’t mind.”
You shook your head, “Not at all. I’d get up, but, I can’t.”
She smiled larger asking, “I brought some herbs would you like me to pour you a bath?”
“If you wouldn’t mind.” She nodded and shifted to rise only to pause when you added, “I might also need a hand up.”
She chuckled softly on her path to the tub saying, “Not at all Queen Pear.”
You sighed softly slumping back again until she returned to help you up before you grabbed a change of clothes and went in to soak while she sat on the edge of the tub listening to your tale for your trip and return, seeming much more interesting for others than your slightly uneventful flight out, two minute stop on Mt Doom followed by another few day long trip back again. Halfway through her fingers claimed the comb you were easing though your hair and worked your hair back into a long French braid then sat beside you until you got out to dry and change.
Her smile never dimming while she followed you back to your bed where the Princes promptly raced into the room, avoiding their uncle snuggling with his Consort next door in their bath, to leap onto the bed around you with chuckles earning giggles from you while they burst into their own set of questions. Both taking their turns while Kili inched just a tad bit closer to Tauriel. Who unknowingly stirred up a giant fire in Prince Kili when her fingers rose to brush out a forming knot from his hair, which inevitably led to her combing through all his hair, turning him into a giant puddle of loveable goo against her lap when she began rubbing his scalp.
Rolling your eyes you gripped his vest and pulled him over to your side when Dwalin entered the doorway announcing dinner causing you to pull the pair to their feet while Tauriel stood eyeing you curiously asking, “Did I do something?”
You smiled at her, “Dwarves are a bit, protective when it comes to hair.” Her brow rose, “Used quite a bit in courting rituals.” Her lips parted as the pair led the way and you giggled softly, “No worries, just don’t braid his hair unless you intend to court him. Though I will warn you him letting you touch his hair is a sign of his affection for you, if you hadn’t already noticed.”
A hint of a smile ghosted onto her face, “I, he’s a Prince.”
Through a smirk you replied, “Captain of the Guard is a respectable position to Dwarves. Plus when I know you better I could add my favor to the match, hefty sway in your favor.” Making her smile grow, “To be loved by a Dwarf is an unending bond you’ll never match I’m told. Take your time, learn each other, see if you feel the same.”
Her head tilted, “He’s, mortal though.”
You chuckled again, “Dwarves lose their mortality when they bond with their Ones.”
In what you could have sworn was a hint of a smile spreading on her face she replied, “Well, Prince Legolas is expecting me back with a report.” Her body shifted only to glance back at you when you gave her another smile.
“I’m certain Prince Kili will be smiling for hours at your scalp massage.” Drawing a slight blush over her cheeks when she turned to head for the gates to join the rest of the guards sent along with her waiting with Nori and Dori to let them out.
Sure enough his grin did hold for the next few days giving a moment of uneasiness to hid Uncle Dain when he arrived. Extending a finger at the young dreamy eyed glazed expression on his face looking over the Dwarven troops entering the mountain only to go wide eyed himself when you giggled and rested your arm on Thorin’s shoulder when you joined the trio to say, “He’s a bit smitten at the moment.”
Thorin nodded and motioned his hand to you, “Princess Pear.”
He nodded his head and accepted your firm forearm hold, “Pleasure to finally meet you Princess, never got a clear description of you in their letters. Past your hair of course.” His eyes scanning over your long shimmering braid blending into you gifted silver silken blouse from Greenwood with an awed expression.
Your smile grew as you glanced at Ori who entered the hall calling your name before you excused yourself and went to join the young scribe in yet another round of translations from the ancient texts he had found the night before. Peering back at his men you caught a familiar bed bushy bearded young Dwarf racing for his Father for a tight hug drawing a smile onto your face at their cheerful reunion as your fingers slid over your gifted ring once again wondering if your reunion would be anything like that.
Nipping at your lower lip you imagined each possible outcome, sure you were clearly married now, something that stirred a slight insecurity in you about his people accepting you. All you’d heard and seen so far was very comforting, at least with your title alone they would show you the same respect and outpour of interest in all you wished to say but the true test came with seeing if you actually meshed well living with them.
.
Shortly after lunch you had gone to bed, taking a long nights rest staying in bed long into the following morning. A set of fingers skimmed across your face jarring you from your dream causing you to roll over onto your back and nearly fall to the floor if not for the firm grip of the arm that curled under your back and pulled you closer. A velvety voice rang out from your new Husband who settled you back safely on the bed, “I didn’t mean to startle you, my Dearest Love.” Easing his hand over your cheek while pressing a kiss to the other.
“Successful trip?”
He nodded, “We got there quite early this year. Legolas sent word of your news of the Goblin tunnels near Rivendell,” his smile flickered larger, “As well as news of your change in plans, indeed he wasn’t joking when he said the Iron Hills had grown closer.”
“That-.” He chuckled softly gliding his fingers along your cheek before leaning in to claim a kiss from you that he sank into with a relaxed sigh.
Barely above your lips he lowly stated, “I understand completely. Though I was quite stunned to hear of your following trip even more.”
“I have no idea how it got in my bag, at all. It wasn’t there at the Blue Mountains or in Rivnedell, Linder helped to reinforce the inner pockets, I had to empty it completely.”
He sighed propping up on his elbow next to you gliding his fingers along your arm, “The goblin tunnels perhaps? Could have easily found it’s way there then.”
Your eyes left his when your lips parted then met his curious gaze at your realization, “I heard a clinking. That must have been it.”
His arm slid around your middle drawing you closer to him deepening his smile, “Well I must say, upon returning to the forest once again there was already a drastic change. For the better of course, greener leaves, browner bark, spiders have fled entirely.”
“That last one, good.” He chuckled lightly as you giggled weakly, “I can’t stand those webs. Spiders, you can hear and spot easily, but webs, you just get caught up. You have more patience than I do, I’d have never been able to sleep easily alone there knowing of the webs.”
“Well I would have made certain you didn’t spend any night alone in Greenwood if I could control it, past obvious reinforcement calls of course. Other trips to neighboring lands would obviously have you going with me. Unless you wished to remain behind, of course.”
His enamored gaze deepened when your fingers trailed over his cheek slowly, “Doubt I would. You managed a deal with Thorin?”
He shook his head, “Unfortunately there are a few things I have to tend to, I hope you won’t be too upset with me.”
“You have to go back home?”
He wet his lips, “I do have about an hour or so before I’m due back. But there’s quite a few tasks I have to see to regarding our army and borders before I can have it settled well enough for a stay.”
“Well, I can say one thing.” You rolled onto your back causing him to follow your fingers and watch with parted lips as you drew a familiar sealed chest onto your stomach from your bedside table, then met his eyes, “Thorin gave me these to offer to you.”
His lips parted when he sat up and drew the chest onto his lap then opened the lid with a near tear filled gaze. Easing the lid back he folded back the velvet cover back revealing a beautiful shimmering necklace in a bow secured in the lid that he easily removed, drawing it up for you to examine, “My Naneth’s, her first gift from Ada when he became King.” His eyes scanned over your inspection of it, “It’s yours.”
Your eyes met his and your lips parted, “It belongs to the Queen of Greenwood. A title belonging to you now.”
“I um,” his hand eased over your cheek after setting the necklace back in its case on his lap after sealing the chest again.
“Our union was quick, but I intend fully to court you properly. Of course we will be needing at least a banquet or some form of ceremony to celebrate our union for our allies and people. The gems however, are also mainly yours.”
In a curious smirk you asked, “Mainly?”
“For my various other gifts for you, especially your crown and various circlets.”
Giggling softly you rolled your eyes as he eased over you stealing another kiss before stroking his nose against yours lovingly, “You-.”
“I enjoy pampering those I love. A habit you will not break me of, My Dearest Love.” His lips found yours again for another deepening kiss. “I would love to have you with me each night and day, but I think we could use this small piece of time to learn each other, enjoy a full courtship finally, and for you to learn about our home. The Dwarves do need you until they settle, at least for a short time we can go as slow as you wish to, I do know it must be a shock to go from Dwarven lands to Elven ones.”
“It should calm eventually I assume.”
He smiled at you, “Our people already have an affection for you, and the effect you have on me.” His smile grew at your hand easing his hair behind his ear followed by your pulling him lower to accept you kiss, one that nearly lasted until you had to escort him and his new chest down to the front gates to meet up with his guards and Son once again for their ride back.
The walk bringing to your attention the long boasted about Son of Gloin once again nudging his Father’s arm whispering, “Introduce me.”
His eyes scanning over the group of Elves eagerly wishing to make his first impression on the visitors, hoping to make an early spot on the Council or at least be named as a possible messenger or be able to handle some form of business between the two Kingdoms. While also hoping to learn the name of the irritatingly aloof blonde looking at seemingly everyone but him even as he held out his best ax within a clear eye line for him to be able to comment on if he wished. That plus his beard alone marked him as quite the focal point for countless Dwarves in all the lands he’d traveled to so far, but to be outright ignored or passed over drew his chin to prickle at the sheer irritation of it causing his beard to puff up in some near animalistic attraction ritual that seemed to be missing its target somehow.
Pursing his lips the young Dwarf turned his eyes to you with a hopeful smile silently wishing for you to solve this problem for him, assuming the Elf must not be allowed to greet him properly due to their current unknown status to each other. Surely as the Elf showed respectful bows and glances at his Father he would surely greet him just the same or possibly even more familiar, but that thought stirred up a seemingly even more frightening topic in his mind he’d been unsure to breech just yet, even with his Mother already attempting to line up worthy suitors for him.
Spotting the gleam in his eyes you smiled between the two, Legolas’ attention on you stirred a curious glance from Gimli only settled due to the fact of his King approaching at your side, something that nearly drove him out of his mind when he noticed the blonde was the only one not to bow his head to the King. Stopping a few feet away from him you glanced up at Legolas stating, “Prince Legolas, I’m not sure you’ve met Gloin’s Son Gimli.”
He turned to face the pair and offered him a flash of a smile from the Elf as he bowed his head and stated, “It is a pleasure to meet any friend our new Queen’s.”
Gimli’s lips parted as he glanced at you asking, “Queen?” Before he glanced at the chuckling King who leaned down to kiss your knuckles sweetly and motion to his Son for the trip back.
“Gimli it is a pleasure to meet you. Unfortunately we must return to Greenwood, but hopefully we will be seeing each other more in the future.”
Gimli’s head bowed to the pair on their path to the gates while the others formed their lines after them, turning his attention back to you he caught your smile as you stated, “Queen. Bit sudden, but technically we met back in the First Age, so, not really for us.”
Gimli’s smile grew, “I am happy for you.” Wetting his lip he added, “You’re not going with him?”
“I’m still needed here and he has a full schedule of things to handle as well.” Gimli nodded and you added, “Don’t worry though, he’s going to try for a visit once his business and people have settled again after their last march if I can get Thorin to agree. Plenty of chances for you to impress our guests.” Making his eager smile grow at your wink.
Barely a week had passed and your room was already filled with floral arrangements and various potted plants Thranduil had sent to brighten your room along with the various teas and herbs delivered as well to aid with any troubles you might encounter with your health.
Between those came his visits where each drew amused grins from the Dwarves around you at your near constant fumbling of what items you held between soft gasps and bitten lips trying to reign in your reactions to his sudden appearances. Always followed by a smitten glance from him before a stolen peck on your hand or cheek until his final fright for you sent an armful of books onto the floor around you drawing his smile wider at your flushed reaction.
After a soft sigh you stated, “I’m going to get you a bell or something.” Only making him smile even wider through his soft response of, “A gift I will always treasure.” Trailing your each movement as he aided you in cleaning up the mess he caused before he joined you for your trip up to your apartment for a shared lunch normally ending with another loving embrace across your covers. Occasionally ending with a hasty bath and your aiding him in dressing once again before his return once again to the forest to meet with his council on the latest terms of trade along with news on progress for the restoration of Dale.
.
Reconstruction that began just after the first wave of returning Dwarves arrived, bringing with them Gorgo, Wife of Gloin, Mother to Gimli along with a long list of suitors that were soon to include the eligible Elves among the list of messengers, dignitaries and nobility Gorgo and her friends so readily added to their records.
Gimli sighed looking over the list curiously before his brows furrowed at his asking, “Prince Legolas is missing from your list.”
His eyes rose to meet his Mother’s silver eyes buried in her chestnut hair with thick bushy sideburns braided to meet her long tuft of hair from under her lips coated in jeweled beads that swayed as she replied, “He is not eligible.”
Gimli, “How is a Prince not eligible?”
His eyes scanned over her face while she replied, “It is no secret his Grandparents and Father were simple tradesmen before King Oropher was chosen as King.”
Gimli glanced at Gloin who was stroking his beard watching the flash of something passing through his Son’s eyes before he stated, “Sweetest Gemstone, Miss Pear is set to be his new Mother, quite soon by the Elf King’s behavior.”
Her eyes rose to meet his then her Son’s noticing his eager nod causing her shoulders to relax, “Now that is an entirely different matter. Grandson of High King Ingwe, much more fetching match now, not even mentioning his Mother’s recent feats. Impressive match indeed.” Her smile creeping deeper at Gimli’s timid smile at her approval for his hopeful union, leaving only your blessing, the King’s and obviously Legolas’ after his hopefully successful courtship offer to the Prince he’d viewed as his One from the first quick flash of a smile in their brief greeting.

CC!steve where all camp groups are gathered at a campfire making s’mores and they decide to tell scary stories and the kids are kinda spooked so when it’s time to go back to the cabin the boys try to impress the girls by walking them to their cabin & they hear a noise and the boys get scared and the girls find it hilarious and when they finally reach the girls cabin steve tries to convince reader he wasn’t scared at all just didn’t want the boys to feel bad, he’s lying but she finds it amusing
Anon requested: A cc Steve or Billy where they are all telling ghost stories and some younger campers get scared so the reader and whoever comfort the campers and it’s just cute and fluffy.
Everyone was gathered around the campfire, sticks in hands with darkening marshmallows impaled on the ends. Everyone was laughing and having fun and being loud as they always do until Sam, one of the other counselors suggests scary stories, a Camp Hawkins campfire tradition. Once the suggestion left his lips the whole group went silent, attention tuned into him as he dramatically leans in as if he were going to tell a secret, the light of the fire illuminating his face in an eerie manner.
“Hawkins isn’t as innocent and boring of a place as many of you think it is. Hawkins has a dark past that has been erased from all physical documents, word of mouth is the only way to keep our history alive. It’s not just distant past I’m talking about either but recent past events, events that have been hidden by a group of people determined to keep the happenings a secret…” Sam says dramatically.
You glance over to Steve but the look on his face as he looks at the kids is the look of nervousness. His group of kids looks at him in the same nervous way and you can’t help but wonder why they are so frightened by the story as it’s barely even begun. When he looks over to you the look is wiped from his face and he smiles and winks at you. You giggle and turn back and look ahead at your marshmallow that you dip into the fire that licks up the sides of the white blob, melting the insides to goo and blackening the outside layer.
“So far this sounds a lot like the Jason Voorhees story.” One of the campers pipes up, unamused.
“Oh, trust me, this is no Friday the 13th.” Sam snickers and continues on with the story. He explains that this story is one of ‘real monsters and mayhem’ but in all honesty, it’s the same story every time that some counselor made up years back and it continued to be passed down by counselors every year.
“I think they are actually scared.” Lexi leans into your ear and whispers as she points to the guys.
“Yeah, they do look pretty frightened don’t they?” You giggle.
“I think I am too.” One of the kids in another group says, looking up at you from the ground in front of you.
“Hey, it’s okay sweetie. It’s just a story.” You say and gently rub her back to comfort her. “Trust me, none of it is real.” You say with a small smile.
“Can I stay right here with you?” She asks with pleading eyes.
“Of course you can.” You nod and spread out your arms, opening the cover to let her hide under the warmth with you as you listen to the story Sam is telling you.
“Thank you,” The little girl says as she looks up at you. “I wish you were my counselor.” She smiles and lays her head down on your shoulder as she pops a marshmellow into her mouth with a gratified sigh.
After the story was over and the fire had mostly died down, everyone began to wander off to their cabins to get some much-needed sleep before the busy Saturday morning in which one team gets to head out to town for the day. Steve, being the gentleman he is, decided that he and his boys would walk you and your girls back to your cabin to “make sure you get there safely”. You weren’t fooled, you know he is trying to earn a few extra brownie points but you aren’t complaining when he slips his hand into yours, intertwining your fingers. You smile as you watch El and Mike walk hand in hand and Lucas with his arm slung around Max’s shoulder.
“They’re adorable.” You say quietly, for only you and him to hear as you nod toward your kids.
“So are you.” He looks down at you with a smile that just melts your heart.
As you nearly make it to your cabin, a rustling and snap of twigs sound out from the woods and all the kids jump, including Steve. Everyone’s head snaps toward the trees that are barely visible in the darkness of night. Steve puffs out his chest and takes a step closer, pushing you gently behind you as he goes to check out whatever it is that is making a noise.
“Be careful Steve.” Will whispers as he gets just mere feet away.
“Boo!” Billy jumps out causing Steve to nearly jump out of his skin and the other boys to be frozen still in fright. Billy chuckles and walks away, leaving your and Steve’s team standing there.
“Let’s get you girls inside,” Steve says, grabbing your hand again and continuing to walk you to the empty cabin. “I knew he was in there.” He whispers to you as if he is letting you in on a secret.
“You seemed pretty frightened.” You giggle, raising your eyebrow.
“I didn’t want the boys to feel bad so I played along.” He winks at you but you can see through that and there was no faking the shock and momentary fear on his face.
“How sweet of you.” You smile and lean up, kissing him on the cheek before shooing your girls inside, waving goodbye to the boys as you shut the door behind you. “They were so scared.”
“Especially Steve!”

Chapter 20 – Scarf
It was still drizzling when Marinette left for Adrien’s house. She considered transforming to get there, just to be dry when she arrived, but she wanted to have a conversation with Adrien as Marinette, not Ladybug (having Tikki’s insight on all this might help; she’d been ignoring the kwami too much lately). She also didn’t want to chance Hawkmoth figuring out her identity, now more than ever.
Besides, she really did have her own umbrella. She’d simply forgotten it on the second day of school and had used Adrien’s ever since, as a symbol of her love for him. (And to give it back of course! Of course! It was just… a lot nicer than hers….)
She sighed as she let herself into the Manor. She should talk to Hawkmoth first about that little stunt he’d pulled earlier, but… well, she really wanted to punch his face in, and that just didn’t seem like a productive thing to do. Satisfying, yes. But…
No. Talking to Adrien was more important. She’d figure out what he wanted to do—and who knew? Maybe he’d want to get a hit in himself!
Her thoughts were interrupted when she knocked on Adrien’s door and he flung it open wide.
“Mari!” he said, beaming at her and pulling her into a hug.
Marinette blinked, frozen in shock.
Talk about a 180 in personality! He’d been ignoring her or actively avoiding her for the past few days! Had he been akumatized or something?!
“A-a-adrien?” she stuttered.
“Come in, come in!” he said jovially. “Our mutual friend stopped by and told me you’d be coming,” he whispered to her as he waved at the Gorilla before closing the door.
“O-oh!” Marinette stammered. Chat Noir had been here already. She looked around hopefully, but the rest of the room was empty. Darn. No Chat in sight. Okay, but was Adrien expecting an apology too? Had she really done anything wrong to him?? She couldn’t think of anything…. “Umm, Adrien…?”
“I thought we could talk,” Adrien said quickly, guiding her over to the couch. “So, I had some snacks and drinks brought in, and we can put on a movie to cover up our voices. Sound good?”
Marinette could only nod dumbly as she stared. He’d had some stuff brought in?? His table was covered in different snacks (a mixture of sweet, salty, and savory foods) and cups and bottles full of different drinks! Wow… he was really going all out here! Almost like a—no, Marinette! Don’t get your hopes up! It’s not a date! You’re just going to be talking about serious, grown-up things!
“Got any preferences on the movie?” he asked, starting up the TV.
“No, anything’s fine. Well, no horror—”
“Don’t worry, I remember,” he assured her with a smile and a wink.
Marinette.exe has stopped working
Not fair. That wink was not fair. And he was killing her with that smile. That smile should be illegal!
“Adrien…,” she said slowly. “I, um…. I want to talk, but—”
“Not enough? Should I turn down the lights??”
“NO!” she nearly screamed.
The things her imagination would come up with if he tried for mood lighting?!?
She cleared her throat and started again. “The lights are fine,” she said, sitting primly on the couch in a vain attempt to look put-together.
Adrien smiled at her and chuckled, before bursting into full-out laughter.
“What? What is it?” Marinette asked, looking around for the source of his hilarity. “Did I do something? Do I have something on my face??”
“It’s a bit overwhelming, isn’t it?” he said, also sitting down on the couch. (But he looked a lot more relaxed than her, that was for sure!) Marinette blinked at him in bewilderment and he gestured to the room. “Does it make you uncomfortable? Knowing I did all this for you?”
She felt her face turn bright red.
“I mean, it’s not suddenly getting a new job or working with Hawkmoth,” he added, looking away. “But it’s a lot. And when it’s all for you, it’s hard to get mad at the person doing it, even if it makes you feel uncomfortable. Right?”
Marinette stared at him. She made him feel uncomfortable? Yeah, he’d said that, but she’d thought it was a one-time thing! Had she been bothering him this whole time?
“I’m—I’m so sorry,” she choked out.
“It’s all right,” Adrien said. “I’m really not mad at you. It’s just… well, I’ve gotten used to people talking over me or ignoring what I have to say, thinking they know what I want better than I do. And I’m sick of it. I didn’t want our talk to be like that. So, I figured, maybe if I showed you what it felt like… you’d understand where I’m coming from. I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable….”
“No, you didn’t—well, I—this is fine,” Marinette assured him. She thought about it for a moment.
He was partially right. She’d come here, intending to tell him what she had planned. It hadn’t really mattered what he thought, because she was so sure he’d change his mind….
“I think I get what you were trying to say,” she said slowly. “I’ve put a lot on you these past few days, haven’t I?”
“It’s been a bit overwhelming,” Adrien admitted, ducking his head. “I thought my dad turning into a supervillain was bad! But now, you’re, well, you… and I’m… me… and he’s….” Adrien threw his hands up and huffed in frustration.
Marinette giggled.
“I get it,” she said, nodding. She was Ladybug, his father was her nemesis, and now they had turned Adrien into a superhero too. Overwhelming to say the least! And—
“Oh, I almost forgot!” she said. She opened her purse. “You haven’t met Tikki yet! Tikki, this is Adrien. Adrien, Tikki.”
The red kwami swooped out of the bag. “It’s nice to finally meet you, Adrien,” she said.
“You too!” Adrien said, looking delighted. Then he remembered something. “Oh! And Plag—er, Duusu made a kwami-nest up on the second story if you want to join him.” He pointed to level above them.
“Can I meet him too?” Marinette asked excitedly, as Tikki immediately flew up.
“Sorry, he’s still kinda shy,” Adrien said, ducking his head in embarrassment. “That whole kwami rule about not letting other people see them and all….” They both turned as Tikki suddenly disappeared with an “oof!”
“Tikki?” Marinette called worriedly.
“I’m okay!” the kwami called back, giggling. “Get off me, you big lug!”
“For someone who’s shy, he’s sure enthusiastic,” Marinette said, craning her head to try to get a look at the blue-themed kwami-nest. “What did he make the nest out of? Is that the scarf I made for you-oouuuu—I mean… the scarf I saw—on you—for your birthday?! Hehe, he he….” She stumbled and backtracked and awkwardly tried to cover her faux-pas, but it was too late.
Adrien raised an eyebrow. “You made that scarf?”
“What?! Me? Nooo, I mean… who makes scarves? What scarf? I don’t see a scarf!”
“Alya’s right. You have the worst poker face ever.”
Marinette groaned and covered her face. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to spoil it—”
“No, it’s okay,” Adrien said, also looking up towards the kwami-nest. “I should’ve known something was up when my father suddenly gave me a thoughtful birthday gift, but nothing else about his attitude changed.” He gave her an apologetic grin. “Thank you, by the way. I love it.”
“S-s-s-sure,” Marinette said, trying not to melt into a puddle of happy goo. Determined to make a better impression, she snapped herself out of it. “Right. Okay. On to important things! Which are… err, what did you want to talk about again??”
Adrien laughed and switched on the movie.
“We need to talk about my dad, and what you wanna do about him.”
End Chapter 20.
