Last year on this day, although the dates don’t match exactly but it was Sunday March 31st, 2019 that the world lost a very very significant role model and innovator, philanthropist, business-driven, communal empowerment King in Ermias “Nipsey Hussle” Asghedom. The moments after the initial reports of Nip being murdered surfaced, there was a stillness amongst not only the music industry— but to anyone familiar with Nip’s journey. As fans, (real fans) we felt apart of the quest. The Marathon Continues started as a slogan, an identity for his brand & clothing store. It quickly became larger than that, TMC became & currently is a lifestyle mentality— applicable to any and everybody with a mission to flourish. TMC became and is an affirmation to repeat while dealing with daily adversity and obstacles that are inevitable in this thing called life. In hip hop terms, Nip spoke on his upbringing and kept things relatable for youth and young adults living in an urban environment Outside of the gang-related lyrics, there were plenty of similar textures in lingo, how we think as a culture, and aspirations to alleviate systems of generational curses from those before us. For those of us who grew up in families where wealth wasn’t passed down on a platter— we cherish our vocal refugees who were able to transcend and “take it there”. And in this case, someone who rose from that particular background— where lives were being taken around him at an accelerated speed and the habitat was filled with ignorance, senseless violence and again cultural traditions set in place to entrap the adolescent mind— to elevate from that place, speak positivity and financial freedom and establish a platform as a radical thinker encouraging the youth to not make those mistakes but instead give game on how we can be in business, be an example of how to buy back our communities and leverage that platform to empower those on a lower persepctive is quite honorable. (Excuse that run-on sentence) Altogether, Ermias was and will forever be 1 of 1. A special human being that God placed on this earth to challenge the thinking pattern of a generation, and inspire change. We love & miss you Hu ssle Man. Thoughts and prayers are with Lauren, Kross, Emani, Sam, Adam, Nip’s parents and Granny. The entire All Money In family, and extended family.
