It was frustrating at first, but you could tell he desperately wanted to share things with you, but couldn’t.

That also seeped into your sex life. He was the one who took control most of the time, which you didn’t mind at all. He always made sure you were satisfied before even thinking of sticking his dick inside you, but something that you hadn’t realized until after was that he had never been completely naked during sex. His eyes are closed, but he rests his forehead against yours. He tries to say something, chokes up and clears his throat. You wait patiently for him like you always have. “Thank you... for understanding me when it comes to how private I am. I know it’s not easy waiting... but, I think. I think I want to tell you.”

Tell you he does, all the terrible parts, the road he’d been on and how it had shaped him into the man he was now. You wrap your arms around him, being there for him as he chokes it out. Not all of it of course, but the bare bones.

It breaks your heart. “Do you trust me?” you ask him quietly when he’s finished saying what he can. He looks into your eyes, his normally non-descriptive expression replaced by something delicate and small. He gives a small, but sure, nod and you reach your hands under his shirt.

He takes a sharp inhale, but doesn’t stop you as you lift up the shirt up and over his head. You were expecting bad but, it was so much worse than you’d thought. There were parts of his skin gone, rough purple patches and staples surrounding them. The healthy skin had rough scars carved into them and he shrunk from your gaze.

He tries to get away, tries to apologize for you having to see him like this. “It’s fitting,” he laughs bitterly. “I’m a fucking nightmare to look at on the inside and outside.”

“No you aren’t.” you softly kiss him, run your hands over the broken and beaten skin. “I still love you.”

His eyes widen in surprise as you lower yourself to lay open mouth kisses around all the broken pieces stapled together. Your movements making him take shuddering breaths and letting out low groans.

That night you take control, and that night is full of you showing him how much you love each and every imperfection of your body. It’s the first night you get to ride him, and the first night you can see all of him as you both hit your highs.

Sometimes he still wears shirts when the two of you make love. It doesn’t pique your curiosity as it did before, but you always make sure that on those days he really feels the love you have for him.

Because if he can’t see it now, you’re going to clean the dust and grime off of the mirror in his mind so he will see it one day.
