-grew up around people like each other

-everyone's disabled, so everyone's accommodating

-usually someone's available & willing to body-double

-don't have to worry about them being embarrassing in front of friends (usually)

-everyone reminds each other to practice self-care

-exchanging hyperfixation infodumps

-best sense of humor

Cons of having an all-neurodivergent family:

-conflicting sensory needs

-no one has the time, spoons, and executive functioning needed to do the chore that's needed doing for a while

I just find it funny that my whole close family is full of NDs, like there’s not one of them that it’s not

And it’s impressive how each one of us have built different personalities or defense mechanisms to survive NT world

Like me, I reject almost all societal norms, I’m the definition of fuck society

But my mom is the other side of the coin, she sticks to norms and she has this thing where everything is in mental boxes… the hardest thing for her to understand about my gender (I’m enby) it’s because she’s like I have no box for that (panicking)

And my grandma always said that we are like an alien family, and that she feels we’re not the stereotypical family

And I don’t know it’s funny because I don’t have much childhood trauma because everything I did that would be different or be seen as spoiled, my family was like: I mean, yeah, I also hate that type of fabric, i would cry and not wear it too

Okay but in all seriousness none of us but the youngest ones have it as bad as me so it makes sense. But I'm just saying. If we all got psych evaluations, I'm pretty sure that only one of us and the two year old who's too young for a definite diagnosis anyway would remain undiagnosed with some form of neurodivergence

Maybe my mom but she has more subtle adhd tendencies and aphantasia.

Tbh, this is part of why I am intensely glad we're homeschooled. First off, we don't have to deal with any of the bull the rest of y'all get. Second off, as nd as we are? Some of us would be bullied, and I cannot guarantee that murders would not be committed.

... okay probably not murder but definitely assault. There are too many protective older siblings in this family.

A day in the life of a goblin family (no children were harmed in the making of this post. Not badly, anyway.)

The setting: quarter to 8 in the morning. Pre-coffee. It's 30⁰c and nine thousand percent humidity. The dog is eating a carrot.

The scene:

12 was begging for egg soldiers, but I can't boil eggs. I just can't. They never work. So then he asked if he can do a trick with an egg and I said ugh, fine, as long as you clean it. He stood at the door and said do you see this egg and I said yes and he said NO YOU DONT and pegged it in the yard. So I said haha fine now go get it.

And he said no.

So I locked the door.

And he thought I was joking so he went to the side door. But I got there first. And by the time he climbed the gate (which took forever, you know when you've got the giggles so bad your bones turn into spaghetti? Yeah. That.) I had also locked the front door. He was shocked I had made it there first, SHOCKED I tell you.

So 8am this morning I have 12 yr old well cooked spaghetti noodle child wiping his entire body along the condensation on the big glass sliders, moaning in his most dramatic voice that he's dyyyyiiinnngggg and he might get KIDNAPPED and what if I DIED and there was no one to let him back in? And we were laughing so hard the dog thought it was an emergency so he came to check it out

But the dog brought his carrot. He just pranced over with this giant orange stick dangling from his chops like a limp cigar so that just made it even worse.

And then I was making coffee a bit later (DW I let him in) and hear scronk. scronk. along the floor like a drunk Goanna is coming in for the attack. And 8 is belly dragging herself into the kitchen and proudly tells me she's done that all. the way. from her room.

Y'all. My family are gremlins. My floor is *disgusting*.

So 8 is in the shower and 12 is prolly never gonna step outside again and I'm ready to go back to bed. And it's not even 9am.

Wait wait wait Nimona was trying to build a connection with Gloreth after being rejected by animals and Gloreth was accepting of her despite being a shape-shifter but Nimona was seen as a monster by the village which then made Gloreth switch her opinions because her parents and the village told her that Nimona was a monster and tried to kill her then 1000 years later Ballister ended up building a connection with Ambrosius a descendant of Golreth and after being rejected by the knights throughout his whole life basically since training started young Ambrosius was accepting of him despite being a commoner but then he was seen as a murderer by the town which had made Ambrosius changed his opinion on him because of what he had seen and what the knights/Director were telling him but unlike Gloreth who while was reluctant at first to treat Nimona as a monster but then gave into hating her and wanting her to die like the people around her did Ambrosius had been reluctant throughout the whole ordeal but in the end stayed committed to Ballister because he loved him despite what everyone else was saying about him and its like the movie was already drawing parallels to how Ballister and Nimona were the same and viewed as outcasts/monsters/murderers but there's notable parallels to Gloreth and Ambrosius in how they were people close to Nimona and Ballister and it came to a point where they had to go against them but the key difference in what happened was the side they chose and the aftermath when they were being forced to chose a side and it really showcases how their generations were different thus their mindsets were different in handling the situation and its just exactly like in real life when it comes to queer people like people especially children can be conditioned to hate queer people with enough fear mongering/hate speech and that's exactly what happened with Gloreth in how she ended up treating Nimona and it was going to happen with Ambrosius but a saving grace was that he was much older so it was harder to change his opinions on Ballister that and he is in a different time period than Gloreth showing how things had drastically changed and advanced in many areas and i feel that the whole point with the parallel between Gloreth and Ambrosius is that times have changed and how even though our past generations have treated queer people like they are monsters and that we should hate them when in reality its not too late for our generation to treat them like equals and that we should love them like holy shit this movie is so insanely and unapologetically queer in so many ways that I did not imagine was humanly possible
