First Post.

Thought I’d just get this one out of the way with some quick facts. I’m from SoCal, work FT in clinical research, school FT for my master’s, love high heels and napping, watch football and basketball, drool over cars, and drink a lot of coffee and wine. Recently got engaged in a spur of the moment, whirlwind romance...I mean seriously, we’ve only been dating 6.5 years...am I rushing it or what?? Looking forward to dumping all my thoughts here, along with whatever tips and tricks I pick up on the way.

My family/friends want me to stay close to home (Winnipeg) but I kind of want to try for Toronto/UBC/McGill (for the experience of living somewhere else + more international recognition for future apps). I'm aiming for neuroscience as well & you seem like you very much have everything together xx

Thank you very much for your ask and I’m so happy to hear you’re pursuing neuroscience :D (neuronerds unite!) I chose my local university because it had a really great neuroscience research centre (Hotchkiss Brain Institute) and because the course requisites for my program was in line with my interests. Here’s a lil list of everything I considered during uni apps:

Tuition Cost

Cost of living

Courses required (are you actually interested in the courses/your program?)

Extracurricular opportunities (specifically research facilities and student opportunities)

International study opportunities
