🇺🇲 CURRENT AND PREDICTED TIMELINE FOR SALTWATER INTRUSION UP THE MISSISSIPPI AND INTO THE NEW ORLEANS WATER SUPPLY
A lack of rainfall in the Mississippi River basen has allowed denser saltwater from the Gulf of Mexico to intrude slowly up the Mississippi River over the last two months.
Current estimates put the saltwater intrusion reaching the New Orleans water supply in Algiers by October 20th, and the Carrollton water treatment plant by October 28th. Currently preparations are being made for the intrusion to last about 3 months, or until roughly late January according to top city officials citing data collected by the Army Corps of Engineers.
On Wednesday, the Biden Administration declared a Federal emergency after a formal request by Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards.
According to New Orleans Sewage & Water Board the city's drinking water "is safe" for now.
Cute little 1892 renovated home in New Orleans, Louisiana. 3bds, 3ba, $679K.
This is a nice layout. Usually, these homes are enclosed, but this isn't a shotgun style house, it's called a "camel back, " which I'm going to guess means that is has a 2nd level.
The main floor is open concept, but you can see the support beams where the walls were opened up on both sides of the fireplace. So, it was divided into small rooms.
The kitchen is very nice and now it's much larger than the original.
Pretty sitting room. The wall unit is a nice touch.
And, this is beautiful bedroom. Staging is so important, and it makes this home look very attractive. Love the chandeliers, I assume they convey.
Neat bath with an original fireplace.
They managed to give this room a walk-in closet. I'm always impressed when they find a space for a closet in an older home.
Stairs to the 2nd level and the other 2 bds.
Bedroom #2 is lovely, too. It's a good size.
This is beautiful. Love the vintage fixtures. It's vintage/modern and the perfect mix.
Bd. #3 is also beautiful. I didn't expect them to be so large.
The attic space has ben made into a closet.
The 3rd bathroom is off a foyer at the side entrance.
Very nice. A driveway entrance.
Behind a privacy fence in the rear is a deck, patio, and a lovely little garden.
Legendborn meets Dynasty in Terry J. Benton-Walker's contemporary fantasy debut, Blood Debts—an "extravaganza from start to finish" (Chloe Gong) with powerful magical families, intergenerational curses, and deadly drama in New Orleans.
Thirty years ago, New Orleans saw the greatest magical massacre in its history. In the days that followed, a throne was stolen from a queen.
On the anniversary of these brutal events, Clement and Cristina Trudeau—the sixteen-year-old twin heirs to the powerful, magical, dethroned family—are mourning their father and caring for their sick mother. Until, by chance, they discover their mother isn’t sick—she’s cursed. Cursed by someone on the very magic council their family used to rule. Someone who will come for them next.
Cristina, once a talented and dedicated practitioner of Generational magic, has given up magic for good. An ancient spell is what killed their father and she was the one who cast it. For Clement, magic is his lifeline. A distraction from his anger and pain. Even better than the random guys he hooks up with.
Cristina and Clement used to be each other’s most trusted confidant and friend, now they barely speak. But if they have any hope of discovering who is coming after their family, they’ll have to find a way to trust each other and their family's magic, all while solving the decades-old murder that sparked the still-rising tensions between the city’s magical and non-magical communities. And if they don't succeed, New Orleans may see another massacre. Or worse.
ISRAELI OCCUPATION KIDNAPS NEW ORLEANS GRANDMOTHER IN THE OCCUPIED WEST BANK
📸 A New Orleans native and grandmother has been kidnapped and beaten by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) after visiting her family home in the occupied West Bank.
According to the advocacy group, Louisiana for Palestine, New Orleans native and local grandmother, Samaher Esmail, was at her home in Silwad, northeast of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, when she was subsequently kidnapped, blindfolded and beaten by Israeli soldiers.
Samaher lives both in Silwad and New Orleans, and owns multiple businesses locally. She was expected to return from the West Bank in April to meet her recently born granddaughter and to attend her daughter's graduation from UNO.
Her family says they are in contact with the U.S. embassy in occupied al-Quds and are working to secure her release.
Sometimes you stumble into an unbelievable group of discord vampire storytellers. And when that happens, it only makes sense to honor our chronicle with its very own logo.
I based the New Orleans by Night logo on ironwork and old fashioned hanging signs found in the French Quarter. The shapes in these intricate railings often symbolized certain things about the homeowner. Here I incorporated the Sabbat inverted ankh because our Chronicle’s most sympathetic kindred tend to fight for the Sword of Caine. Even Aya-my sweet, horribly insane Malkavian-would be honored to be inducted into their ranks.
I have transparent versions here. Do whatever you feel like with them (but if you use it for an AI algorithm I will send brain devouring worms into your eyes 🖤)

"The intricately woven threads of magic, intergenerational trauma, and well-placed social commentary make it impossible to ignore or deny one very simple truth: even those perceived as the-least-of-these are deserving of true justice."—Nic Stone, New York Times bestselling author of Dear Martin
