8, a kiss to the back of the hand... ;---; <3
Enrique Monsivais has been presented with the rare opportunity to reinvent himself.
Quinta de Talpa is little-known and remote. No doubt this is how the Crows like it, and precisely why he and the other Azul bastards had been raised there, before the nest emptied out. Returning to those abandoned halls is familiar. The buildings know him. The orchard remembers his name.
But the town of Talpa itself is different. Standing five miles from the hacienda, it does not know him. Whether he be assassin, elf-blooded, lyrium addict, apostate mage, it doesn’t matter; no one here knows. He’s completely anonymous.
For now, anyway. When and how that changes will be up to him.
Today he’s dressed finely and walks confidently through the streets. Nothing and nobody will threaten him here. The only problem is this, and it has been gnawing at him for some time: he doesn’t have horses.
Maker above. What sort of noble doesn’t have horses? The stables at Quinta de Talpa stand empty. It is an aberration beyond words. If he can just convince Rinnala-
“Walking again, Sr. Monsivais?”
Ligeia Jaszbereny is sitting side-saddle, smiling mischievously at him as she interrupts his thoughts. She is atop a fine Murgese, pitch-black and sturdy. The wide brim of her hat keeps the sun off her bone-white skin. Cicadas sing into the cooling afternoon.
“We will need a horse, for where we’re going today.”
“Ah? And where are we going, lady Ligeia?” Enrique asks with a slow smile.
They’ve met a few times since his arrival in Quinta de Talpa, and this, too, seems promising. Ligeia is passionate and smart. She’s so sure of herself. She reminds him of Quique’s mother. But that’s—
“Well, you will have to ride with me to find out. It’ll be a surprise,” she says, smiling as she adds, “A secret.”
And here she holds out a hand, trimmed in lace, covered in burn scars. Enrique takes it between his own and, before he can give it any thought, lifts it to his lips for a probably presumptuous kiss. For a moment, he feels her fingers tense, but when he looks up to see if he’s offended, she merely smiles down at him once again.
“Come,” she says. “I will show you.”
Without breaking contact she helps him climb onto the horse behind her. Thrilling, to have her warm body close to him like this. Imagine if he could have this all the time, and the hacienda, too. The world is rich with potential.
He’ll need to acquire horses.

[DnD OC] Ligeia
“[…] and there streamed forth, into the rushing atmosphere of the chamber, huge masses of long and disheveled hair; it was blacker than the raven wings of the midnight! And now slowly opened the eyes of the figure that stood before me. “Here then, at least,” I shrieked, “can I never -can I never be mistaken- these are the full, and the black, and the wild eyes […] of the LADY LIGEIA.”
Edgar Allan Poe, Ligeia
I love my little hexblood-celestial patron warlock 🥰 what do you think of her ?

OC-Tober Day 26: Vampire OC
A little trio of vampires! Lucien, a vampire club owner in NYC. Lacrimosa, a photographer and goth magazine editor. And Ligeia, a super old and once feared vampire who tends to lay face down on Lucien's floor unmoving most of the time.

A couple days ago, I saw these gorgeous character portraits that @my-dumb-obsessions made on my dash, and I just went absolutely feral with inspiration. So I guess I'm doing the picrew thing, even though I've only vaguely heard of it before.
I started out by making portraits for my own Warden, as well as for the members of her Blight Club. Some of the images have been edited in photoshop to get a better match for things like color (Sten's skin tone, for instance, since none of the default options came quite close enough for my satisfaction), but other than Zevran's face tattoo, which I drew in by hand, all image resources were made by the very talented @elena-illustration.
(Thank you so much to the creator of the Windswept OC Generator for making it: I quite literally had hours and hours of fun with this.)
I also did my DA2 oc's and companions, so that's going to be coming up in another post. I do also plan to be doing the Awakening cast as well, but that's going to take a bit more time (since we have not just one character with face tattoos but two, and also two dwarves on the team... absolutely love this generator but dwarven proportions are just a lot harder to approximate).

Silly little Nevermore OC, based off the short story "Ligeia". She's not actually my first Nevermore OC but my other is going under the hell of me not being able to choose a consistent design for her so...

so, i did the full custom party thing for my solo playthrough of bg 3, using my first character from my first campaign (ligeia, second from left), and my two friends' characters from our first campaign (zola, far left, and mordran, far right).
it's funny--thelxiope (second from right, my second player character, ligeia's baby sister) has played the role of "immortal chaotic evil not-lich semi-antagonist" for so long in my head and in the campaign i'm writing, it's jarring to jump back to her roots as somebody's kid sister.
but i'm glad she and ligeia get to adventure together.

Character info for ffxiv write 2023!
Here is the cast of oc's that will appear in this year's challenge! :3 Kien is always my main focus but I have two new alts that I'd love to introduce/write for because I don't know when to stop making alts in this game without further ado!
Kien Eilath (Main Wol) Half Keeper, Half Seeker Miqo'te from Meracydia (raised in a Keeper tribe)
Tumblr media
Closed off but kind, cautious sometimes, impulsive the next, learning to know what it's like to be loved and cared for by others. Will do anything to protect his friends and loved ones. Despite his title as Warrior of Light, he can be a bit aloof and awkward at times but his heart is in the right place and he can really be a goofball when he's around his found family. It's rare to see him angry, but never rare to see him practically asleep on his feet from working too much. Main class: Gunbreaker, dabbles in Bard Profession: Scion of the Seventh Dawn, Warrior of Light
N'noah Wiloh (alt oc, non-wol, doesn't have the echo) Seeker of the Sun Miqo'te from Ul'dah *Is the only oc who shares the same universe as Kien*
Tumblr media
Mischievous, a bit of a flirt, will spare no expense to get the information she wants and needs, and will probably talk your ear off if you let her. She isn't one to shy away from a challenge and she isn't afraid to cheat her way out of a situation. While she seems very charismatic and open, there's actually a lot she doesn't like to share for the purpose of just moving on to brighter things. 1/3rd of the Red-head brigade and no, Bastian isn't the leader. Main class: Dancer, dabbles in Monk Profession: Immortal Flames private, former Scion of the Seventh Dawn
Syren Ligeia (alt wol) Half-Elezen, Half-Veena Viera from Ishgard
Tumblr media
Hot-tempered and quiet, fiercely loyal, will most likely give you a nod or a one-worded answer half the time. Bluntness and sarcasm are his moods of choice. Despite the fact he looks disinterested, he's actually very observant and driven, and if you stick around long enough, more of his soft-hearted personality will shine through. Main class: Currently a Dragoon but will be Dark Knight by mid-Heavensward Profession: Former Temple Knight, currently the Warrior of Light and a Scion of the Seventh Dawn (though you'd never know as he doesn't like to share that. Bijou is the Warrior of Light, thank you very much)
Ciel Fyth (alt oc, non-wol, has the echo) Rava Viera from the Golmore Jungle
Tumblr media
A literal ball of sunshine, (think golden retriever puppy) whose energy knows no bounds. He's extremely loyal, and kind, and will definitely talk your ear off about how great his older brother Malek is. He has a driving need to ensure the happiness of those around him because it's the only thing that keeps him from falling apart from what he had to endure in his past. Main class: White Mage Profession: Traveling healer, soon to be a Scion who accompanies the Warrior of Light with his brother
Atticus Wolfram (alt oc, non-wol, doesn't have the echo) Half-Elezen, Half-Garlean from Garlemald (with very little connection with aether)
Tumblr media
Charismatic, Sarcastic, quick-witted, and will definitely flirt with anyone to get his way ("is it really manipulation if you make them feel good about themselves?") He tends to never give the full story as he doesn't like to get close to anyone but all he really wants is to find a place where he can belong. Known as the Raven to some, or an all-around wanted thief to the rest. Oh, and don't piss off his voidsent. (The last guy who did, well, it didn't end well) Main class: Parades as a Gunbreaker to his clients but only a few know that he's a very skilled Reaper Profession: Wandering body-guard/fighter for higher

Ligeia
Species: Animated Flesh Amalgam
Homeworld: Unknown
Pronouns: She/Her
“Life and death dance entwined to a cosmic cacophony misaligned.”
Backstory after the jump.
Ligeia was created in the mountaintop laboratory castle of Doctor Greymire, as one of his many experiments in crafting new lifeforms from cadavers of disparate species. She was his first experiment with a coherent sense of identity and ability to express herself. Though Ligeia could talk fluently, she preferred to dance - a passion which Greymire implanted himself, using the brains of the finest ballerinas he could unearth. When Ligeia was first risen, Doctor Greymire considered her his finest work, his magnum opus. Ligeia lived among Greymire's staff, given the same treatment as his most noble guests. The doctor made sure Ligeia learned as little about the outside world as possible. However, he personally taught her to read, and she occupied herself with selected works on psychology, philosophy, and theater. Greymire would kidnap talented dancers, offering to free them only after teaching Ligeia everything they knew (a promise which he never kept). Ligeia performed many a recital for Doctor Greymire and his guests, moving with a haunting grace, contorting herself into shapes no natural creature could ever hope to attain. She was even occasionally allowed outside to wander the castle's gardens, closely monitored by Greymire. Though she was sheltered, all was well for Ligeia, and she was content.
However, Greymire's attention drifted to newer, more sophisticated experiments. Once he received secret research funding from the military, he quickly lost interest in flights of fancy. Ligeia's status and privileges were gradually reduced, until she was unceremoniously banished to the lab's dungeon. There, Greymire's subjects were left in the neglectful care of low level staff. There was only one way in or out, fiercely guarded at all hours. Dozens of half-broken creatures shambled painfully in the dark, kept around in the off chance Greymire decided they had some quality worth revisiting. Many could be fixed up with an hour of Greymire's time, but in the years Ligeia skulked the underhalls, she only ever saw him descend into the dungeon to disassemble a subject for parts. Too many times, Ligeia would overhear this exchange - the subject's pleading for repair turning quickly to cries of mercy, then to gut-wrenching silence.
Though Ligeia's imprisonment was bleak and cruel, it wasn't without its silver lining. The dungeon staff weren't nearly as particular as Greymire about keeping the outside world a secret. Every night, they’d put on the telescreen for a few hours. The staff mostly watched bootleg arena broadcasts, which were rarely translated. Of course, if something came up that could inspire an uprising, they quickly changed the channel. Nevertheless, Ligeia was highly observant, and kept fastidious notes about the outside world in a secret journal. When nobody was looking, she'd practice maneuvers she saw on the telescreen as best she could, cleverly disguising it as just another dance routine if caught.
One fateful night, Doctor Greymire resolved that it was Ligeia's turn to be disassembled. When Greymire approached her, Ligeia disarmed him of his cleavers, then used them to slice across his face. Before he could react, she used the moment afforded by the shock to slip through the dungeon door. Half-blind and humiliated, Greymire chased her through the castle. The pursuit was frantic, and Ligeia was nearly caught more than once by Greymire's new franken-killers. She defended herself with tactics gleaned from arena broadcasts, and managed - just barely - to escape from Greymire's estate. Ligeia wandered the lonely countryside for several nights, sleeping in the hollows of trees when the sun rose. Eventually, Ligeia encountered a wandering witch, who upon hearing her plight, offered to teleport Ligeia offworld. Ligeia took them up immediately, asking no questions before being warped off-planet.
Ligeia has no idea how far she was sent, only that she ended up on a bustling space station, somewhere totally alien to her. She was alone, left to survive using only her secondhand knowledge of the world. Her first efforts were awkward and confused, as the culture of her world was quite backwards, and her run-ins with the finer points of interstellar etiquette often got her in trouble. Eventually, she pieced things together, at least enough to be understood as well-meaning. Even then, Ligeia stuck out like a sore thumb, and many feared her. However, between her quick wit and growing expertise with cleavers, she was able to avoid trouble whenever possible, and defend herself when that trouble was beyond avoiding.
When she learned that the Thrasher League - a massive arena with trans-galactic broadcast rights - was looking for candidates, Ligeia signed up for an audition. She won her interviewers over, not just with her unnerving demeanor, but with her unique perspective and natural inclination for theatrics. The League offered to send Thor to the planet Ligeia came from, to take down Doctor Greymire and rehabilitate his subjects. Alas, Ligeia wasn't educated in matters of interstellar travel. She didn't know the coordinates of her homeworld, nor would she be able to recognize it, as she was never taught its name. Furthermore, Greymire was smart about covering his tracks - neither he nor his colleagues could be found in any database.
Thus, Ligeia fights in the arena in hopes of being broadcasted back in Greymire's dungeon. If her fellow subjects saw her, perhaps they'd realize her escape was successful, and that Greymire can be outwitted. Even if she was on the screen for only an instant, if any of the subjects saw her, that just might be enough for them to understand. In the meantime, Ligeia spends every waking hour outside the arena investigating leads to her homeworld's name and location. Mark her words - Greymire's subjects will be saved, and Greymire himself will face justice.
