I AM
I am a far gone optimist A hopeless hoping optimist Blistering bruised bloody fingers optimist A dirt under her fingernails And blue-black in his face Kind of optimist An unholy holy child A heretic and a blasphemer against the doctrines that hurt A broken and golden kind of optimist I am a god damned fucking optimist And damn me And damn this world If we can't be better And live live live Blistering and dirty and bloody and bruised Broken and haunted and holy and whole

who do you think is more Crowley coded and who is more Azira coded out of dnp?
i set myself hourly notifications ever since you send the ask and it still took me this long to answer, im so sorry 😭
Tumblr media
to answer your question:
It might seem like obvious that dan is crowley coded and phil is azira coded because of their aesthetics and personality but stating that as that is too simple for me. lets break it down:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
dan is like crowley in the obvious sense of having that edgy aesthetic and always needing to question things while phil is the one with the light aesthetic who enjoys what is happening despite the problems it has. just watch them play the game of life.
this reminds me of this quote from a book ive read for uni which really stuck with me:
Tumblr media
so yea, dan is the social scientist who points out what most people miss and phil is the one who tells us that we shouldn't wallow in defeat of it but make our own meaning out of it. and we need both! they are like ying and yang, like crowley and aziraphale in that way.
crowley who questions heaven and thusly falls, but then doesnt stop questioning hell because he doesnt see the world in black and white, good actions and bad actions.
Tumblr media
i think dan for a long time was not like that. i say this with the utmost respect but if you look back, his branding was usually self deprecating jokes and at least to me personally it felt like his perspective was pessimistic. he always made sure to leave a positive message but to me it felt like a wish for a better future, not a feeling of certainty that it will be better.
Phil on the other hand is very much like that:
Tumblr media
Phil is like aziraphale and me in the sense that he gets irrationally worried about things,
Tumblr media
but it is dan who literally did a tour about his worries of the world ending, with branding and all:
Tumblr media
and yet:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
phil and crowley both have that rational optimism, the sense that things will be okay. but aziraphale does not give up in-spite of the odds being against them. in s1 he refuses to run away to alpha centauri because he believes that they should stay and fight. that there is still hope. he does not accept that the world will end. but its crowley who sparks the idea of aziraphale raising the antichrist with him. its aziraphale who tells angel crowley of armageddon , and its why crowley gets upset and questions the almighty.
so my point is that phil has aziraphale's light aesthetic vibes and his fear of near doom but crowley's certainty that everything will be okay in the end despite it.
dan on the other hand has crowley's edgy dark aesthetic, his cynicism and sense of questioning belief systems, but also aziraphale's determinism to fight what he is sure is a losing battle/the end of the world because he wants to believe that it is possible that everything will be okay (that being the message of wad/ywgttn/big/etc...)
i want to talk a bit about 'dark/light polarity'. what we mean by that is two sides of the same coin. yin and yang:
☯️
they depend on each other, they interconnect and intertwine. be it real people or fictional characters, it is never a clear black and white binary, because what the characters have something that the other lacks and when they come together they become a whole. plato said humans once had 4 legs and feet, and then got split in half by zeus to punish us to live our lives yearning to be connected with the other half of our soul/coin, our soulmate. they carry sth of each other within them because there are shards that got broken in the middle when the being was split and were forced to choose sides.
so even tho it might seem like dan is more like crowley coded and phil is more aziraphale coded because of their light/dark aesthetic, there's many things of both in each of them and thats what makes it interesting and real to us.

I just found your blog and I’m absolutely in love with the way you write headcanons! If you don’t mind, could you write some angsty hcs about Jack trying to differentiate himself from who he used to be as Joseph, wanting to be someone new as Jack and trying to reinvent himself? Maybe with an MC that wants to know who he used to be, but Jack keeps insisting that he’s only ever been ‘Jack’?
Tumblr media
Jack absolutely does not see himself as Joseph in any way. As far as he's concerned, Joseph is dead. To him, to the world, that isn't who he is nor will he be. That past part of him buried as deep as he could
He had thirty years locked in that that vhs tape has given Jack plenty of time to perfect his persona as best he can, to be the best man he possibly can be, a better, real Jack
When it comes to the initial asking, Jack will simply introduce himself as such. Sunny Day Jack, that's all there is to him. It's who he is now and who he was meant to be. Not just for his own sake but for yours as well.
Jack holds nothing but ill will for his former self and will absolutely hide anything and everything regarding it from you
Joseph was troubled, or was trouble, it doesn't much matter to Jack but he can't have that kind of toxic influence you, now can he? Joseph coped with unhealthy vices, was rebellious, modified his body for attention- you don't need that sort of negativity in your life.
But fact of the matter is, Jack is Joseph and Joseph is Jack whether he likes it or not and you can see those cracks in the veneer from time to time; where is less of the sugary sunshine and more of the cynic. There's this palpable dichotomy of confidence and self loathing within him
Jack won't call this a phase or facade, this is who he is and when he says this to you- it is spoken as an absolute. It's who he is now, who he wants to be, he has a second chance to do everything right this time and to do right by you-he wouldn't let something so trivial as a ghost of himself ruin that
What will be more difficult is, as time goes on, to whom and how to shift the blame when it comes to body count and violence. Is it Jack? Or is it Joseph? (It's both but blame is so easier to to pin on a name you don't like)
Like I'd stated before, no matter how you press or pry, Jack won't ever give up the gig and will work all the harder to prove to you that he's not hiding anything. And to him, he isn't. Nothing he says is technically a lie because I mean...he did come out of a vhs tape, why wouldn't he take it's former contents as reality
When Jack thinks the convincing is for your benefit, it's really for his own. When he asks for your validation, he needs it as Jack. Proof that what he's doing is right. That killing and retooling himself was the right thing to do. Nobody needed Joseph. Nobody wanted Joseph. But Jack? Oh, he was-and is- adored.
He prides himself on that, this shiney new repackaging of himself. Bright as the sun, beaming with optimism, healthy influence to positively impact your growth. Jack's is a face you can trust, not one with under eye circles and smelling of tobacco.
Really, Jack is a hypocrite. He always ran and changed himself rather than confront his issues but your issues? Your problems? Well...he might be able to forgive you needing his help, but really Jack would sooner view this all as him not wanting you to make the same mistakes he had a lifetime ago. He just wants whats best for you but if that requires his intervention (perhaps without your knowledge) well...why burden you with it? Some things just need to be wordlessly put to bed or buried.
Despite it all, the slips of Joseph through Jack I don't think are ones he really weighs too much. Because when it comes to you, they want the same thing. But with this reinvention where Jack likely equates Joseph to being dead and gone, he's just dormant. They're both pretty dominant and really, it's just two sides of the same coin. They're one and the same but Jack will fight tooth and nail for otherwise.
Because otherwise, what does all of this amount to? What does he amount to? It puts all he's done and how far or short he's come under worse scrutiny. Jack/Joseph is a deeply complex character who is hesitant to let you get too close to knowing him and the many facets, it's for your safety despite that he can, and will, know anything and everything about you by any means necessary.
I might revisit this one too, it felt a lil short-- I hope it's okay OTZ

season five isn't going to be the byler show because we all have brains and recognize this is an ensemble sci fi show obviously, but it is kinda funny to hear people argue that because the duffers specifically point out in their pitch that will is gay and gets kidnapped soon after realizing it, then in season one have everyone who isn't "in the know" assume that this occurred because he's gay, thus really linking this realization with his disappearance both supernaturally and also to those outside of the main cast. this means that you can't separate the two. there's more to it of course, but will being gay and the consequences he faces for that is intertwined.
not only that, but they then reveal his kidnapper to be will's perfect character foil--love vs hate, light vs dark, hope vs despair, optimism vs cynicism, freedom vs subjugation, light wizard vs dark wizard, etc.
vecna spends all of season four preying on those who are traumatized and "other". he enshrouds them in their darkness until they succumb to it and believe it to be true, and gains strength from their despair.
what does will spend all of season four doing?
he stays by mike's side and banishes his deepest, darkest insecurities by basking him in his light. he listens to mike's worries and his secrets and tells him no, you're wrong, you're absolutely wrong and here's why. this is who you really are: someone worthy, capable, and strong. don't listen to that voice in your head; it's lying to you, mike. he gives mike hope and a way out of his darkness. he frees him from the grips of self-hate out of the goodness of his heart, not because he stands to gain anything from it.
vecna uses people's darkest and scariest memories to trap them and will uses one of mike's happy and safe memories to help him.
vecna gains strength from pain and rage and will gains strength from love and acceptance; acceptance that he felt from mike all his life and then acceptance that he specifically received from jonathan in the back kitchen.
time and time again, season four made sure to show us that they are two sides of the same coin and will's story cannot be extricated from mike and his romantic love for him, so like... season five is not going to be the byler show, but it also ... kind of is going to be the byler show lmao.
if season five is going to feature will then automatically it will feature mike and if it features them then it will pick up on their unfinished plot from season four and if love and acceptance are vecna's weaknesses and love and acceptance are what byler feel and receive from each other then... how is it not the byler show?
obviously other stuff is going to happen because they're not the only two characters in a romance show, but like ... to act like season four [for them] wasn't all about their relationship, the unsaid things that sit between them, and how will's love for mike is not only what made him able to finally say i love you to eleven for the first time but also precisely the love that he was trying to get from her, and that somehow that isn't going to bleed into season five and be resolved and be the exact kind of love and acceptance that will defeat vecna because will's otherness is rooted in his queerness and season five is literally his coming of age and also he's the focus and we'll be exploring his relation to everything because he is In Fact Actually connected to Everything and always has been is just .... weird. and nonsensical.
#mine#like. it isn't but it literally is the byler show idk wht to tell u man. every ending has a beginning and will is that beginning.#his disappearance is tied to him being gay. his otherness is BECAUSE he's gay. his first trauma was homophobia.#milkvan is bones bc mike said ily due to will's confession but will's confession does not apply to eleven. she doesn't feel that way.#she TOLD us and mike she doesn't feel that way and they showed that with how they ended the season. when mike realizes what he's been#searching for has been right beside him all along paired with will being in the most danger he's ever been in.. do you really think it#won't lead to some realizations? when their season four plot was literally their relationship being built up? when s4 showed u how#every problem that mike has with eleven is nonexistent with will? when they told us that the one person mike can't lose is will? will's#weakness is the trauma tht stems from his otherness and once he receives that love and acceptance vecna won't have anything#to draw strength from in him. and since this is stranger things we KNOW that love will defeat evil bc it always does. like. what's#not clicking. not every single second of every single episode is going to be byler falling in love being boyfriends and no one is saying#that lol but to act like will's gayness is not inherently tied to the plot and his coming of age and like will being a focus doesn't#automatically make mike a focus too especially since he's 'figured some stuff out' but still has more stuff to realize it's like. i just#don't understand tht sentiment. they cast will knowing he was going to be a big component of st. the show started with him and it ends#with him. and they said in s4 that mike is the leader guiding everyone. n tht without heart [aka mike] will would fall apart.#literally what is not clicking someone explain it to me bc i don't understand. 🤨📝🧐

When each side only has Half of the Answer...
Looking back over Volumes 6 and 7, something I feel is pretty interesting is how Ozpin and Ironwood are effectively painted as two sides of the same coin by the narrative when it comes to their strengths and flaws.
Tumblr media
For Ozpin, no matter how much insight he had on the human condition and how his humanist ideologies of compassion, understanding and empathy, and how much he wanted to help all of humanity, I think it’s pretty clear that his actual idea of how to deal with Salem was very much the WRONG one. His plan was to effectively delay Salem indefinitely, with an ingrained, unshakable assumption that Salem cannot be fought directly. Also, Ozpin’s idea of fighting Salem in the shadows only seems to have backfired, with Ozpin and his followers keeping untold secrets from the rest of the world, all while Ozpin keeps more secrets from even his closest allies. This gradually erodes and destroys the trust those allies have in him as we saw in Volume 6, and also keeps humanity unaware of the threat to them and makes it all the easy for Salem to keep humanity divided and turn them against each other.
In short, Ozpin has the right philosophy, but the wrong idea of how to deal with Salem.
And in Volume 7, we see that Ironwood is the flipside to that coin.
Tumblr media
By all rights, Ironwood has the right idea. He wants to take the fight to Salem directly and put an end to her once and for all. Not only that, Ironwood wants to reveal her existence to the world, shine a spotlight on her as the true enemy of mankind and unite humanity against the common enemy to all. But at the same time, Ironwood’s ideology is horribly flawed. In contrast to Ozpin’s humanist ideologies, Ironwood’s beliefs are entirely militant. He believes that simple military might will win the day, and also believes whole-heartedly that ‘the ends justify the means’ and ‘any sacrifice is worth it’. We see in Ironwoods conversations with Oscar that he considers his own humanity to be a weakness that can be exploited. He pretty much views Mantle as dead weight and is ready to cut the whole city loose as a sacrifice to what he believes is the ‘greater good’.
Basically, Ozpin had the Wrong Idea, but the Right Ideology. And Ironwood has the Right Idea, but the Wrong Ideology.
And it is between these two sides that I believe Team RWBY falls, and in particular Ruby herself.
Tumblr media
I think it’s clear that Ruby is the one that has the Right Idea and the Right Ideology. Like Ironwood, she is staunchly determined to battle the evil that Salem represents and end the threat she poses to humanity. But like Ozpin, Ruby is an equally firm believer in the importance of keeping hold of our humanity and all that entails. I think we can see this most clearly in how Ruby has come into conflict with both men, with Ozpin in Volume 6 and Ironwood in Volume 7.
Finally, I think there is one specific quality Ruby possesses that sets her apart from both Ironwood and Ozpin and allows her to be this: Her Defiant Optimism.
Both Ozpin and Ironwood both seem to possess these cynical assumptions about the conflict against Salem: Ozpin believes that Salem cannot be destroyed and Ironwood seems to believe that great sacrifices must be made to ensure victory.
But Ruby possesses none of these assumptions.

do you prefer writing from kara’s or lena’s pov?
It depends on the story I’m trying to tell. When I have a story idea one of the first things I consider is which perspective is most interesting for it and which would be the best to keep private. Like, for Lena Dies, I felt like having it in Lena’s POV would be the most interesting one to do. Or with Kara in SBKAU. Sometimes it’s fun when the reader knows something the POV doesn’t, or it’s fun to keep the POV (and the reader) in the dark.
I love them both because they’re two sides of the same emotional coin. I love writing Kara with her humor and hope that’s always tinted with an undercurrent of trauma. She uses her hopefulness and humor to hide the tragedies she’s never processed. Lena is fun because it’s so much sorrow and tragedy that’s undercut by her own kind of hope. She uses her cynicism and sorrow to hide the fact that she’s actually really hopeful. She wants to believe in goodness so badly even though everything in her life tells her there’s no point. That’s why she and Kara click so well. Kara is unbridled hope and optimism, something Lena’s never been allowed to have, and Lena is out here fully in her tragedies and traumas and still somehow pushing forward. That’s exactly what Kara is scared to do.
So I guess I don’t really have a preference lmao I love them both so much!!!!!

I’m fascinated by the parallels you can draw between Jason and Steph because Jason and Steph are two sides of the same coin.
Steph's story is only different from Jason's by a few pages .
Steph is the story Jason could have had if the circumstances of his life had been a little kinder.
Jason and Stephanie started at societies’ rock bottom, went through the grinder, dealt with the bare minimum of emotional support if any emotional support at all, but ultimately Stephanie emerged the other side with a hard-won optimism born of experience and wisdom, but Jason wound up cynical and shaped by the incredibly violence he’d been subjected to his whole life

Sanders Sides theory (SPOILER WARNING FOR DWIT)
Okay so I honestly wondered why the Light Sides are so reluctant to mention the word “Paranoid” around Virgil— or at least, associate that word with him. Princey almost called Virgil paranoid in but quickly shifted gears by saying “parana-vigilant” instead.
Maybe it’s because like Creativity’s extreme is Intrusive Thoughts, Virgil’s extreme is Paranoia? And maybe mentioning the extreme summons him/brings him back to when he was a Dark Side? Anxiety and paranoia are two different things though, anxiety being intense and persistent worrying and paranoia being an unrealistic distrust of others.
While the four main Light Sides are foils to one another (Patton’s feelings vs Logan’s knowledge; Roman’s ambitions vs Virgil’s doubts; Roman’s fanciful hopes vs Logan’s realistic expectations; Patton’s optimism vs Virgil’s cynical nature; etc...), perhaps the Dark Sides are naturally the extreme the Light Sides?
We obviously have confirmed Remus and Roman to be different sides of the same coin: Imagination. Side note: the costume for Remus was very clear in explaining this, his whole costume is LITERALLY the opposite of Roman’s (green and red are complementary colors; as are white and black).
Anyway, it’s my thought that we will be introduced to more Dark Sides that happen to be the extreme to Thomas’s Light Sides. Deceit, as his color IS yellow, should be Anxiety, right? However, I like my theory on Paranoia being Virgil’s extreme so what if Deceit is Morality’s extreme? I mean, the LAST EPISODE had the two pitted against each other and the title literally is “Selfishness vs Selflessness” which furthers my postulation that deceit is simply morality MAGNIFIED.
Deceit impersonated Patton first and his core beliefs seem to mirror Patton’s: be honest no matter what vs honesty is not always ideal and sometimes you need to lie; give bc it’s good vs giving EVERYTHING isn’t realistic and acting in your own self interest isn’t bad. Deceit’s whole purpose is self-preservation (going against Society’s boogeymen) but Patton’s whole thing is literally ethics based on how society functions. They’re opposites. I look forward to seeing more sides being revealed— maybe Logan’s extreme is Apathy? But hey, that’s just a theory— a SANDERS THEORY

Lost somewhere
Tumblr media
I kinda got caught in the WitcherSvetlana/AU and needed to get this out of my system. So… here is something different.
What if the things worked out for Svetlana differently? When her brother Aiden invites her for a few beers too meet his new friend, the long lost past knocks on the door in a way Svetlana never dared to imagine. What if the memories weren’t truly long gone…
Song lyrics used - In The Woods Somewhere by Hozier
youtube
“Do you think those bastard are able to shed a tear? To show any real emotion?” said an old farmer, his eyes locked on a table far back and the two men sitting there, each carrying two swords on his back.
“I bet they would not move an inch even if their own mother was dying in from of them.” added younger farmer.
“That’s an interesting question. Would the Witcher remember that person to be their mother?”
The conversation the two farmers were having was interrupted by a third voice. Voice not so harsh as theirs, not so quiet as theirs and way more feminine then theirs.
The older farmer, the one who asked the question, turned around in a search for that female, the woman daring to mingle into their talk. He was ready to scold her, make a remark about her appearance but he did neither. Because the eyes watching him took all the word from his mouth as the rest of his confidence.
Eyes watching him from the above were not one of a fair maiden but of something not even human.
The Cat watched him with playfulness and curiosity and even if those emotions could be genuine, the stare alone scared him shitless.
***
“Svetlana, you made it! I was scared you would bail on me like the last time.” man greeting her was just a few inches taller than her, yet his charisma made him look giant. She was so happy to see him.
"Come on, I already apologised. And you know I had my reasons… It was bruxa reasons.“
"I am so glad to see you again.”
"Me too, brother.“ They hugged and for Svetlana this dusty inn in a middle of nowhere felt like home.
"I would never forgive myself if I would miss another meeting of ours. Although the woods did not want to let me pass peacefully.”
 "Complications?“
"Pack of wolves though my and Myesats would be an easy snack.”
"Speaking of wolves, there is someone I would like to introduce to you.“
Aiden guided her to a table in the back of the room. Svetlana noticed Aiden and the other man the moment she entered the inn, but the farmer really did ask an interesting question.
"The best beer you have for my friend here!” shouted Aiden as the passed the innkeeper who showed little to no actual enthusiasm in a compleating given request. Svetlana tossed a gold coin into his hand and his attitude changed slightly, now felt more involved in compleating the task.
As they come t the table Aiden pulled a chair for her to sit on and settled himself next to her facing the other witcher - the Wolf.
 "Svetlana - Lambert"
 "Lambert - Svetlana"
"Nice to meet you.“ she greeted him with a polite smile.
"Pleasure is on my side, Aiden told me about you. Did not believe him though.” She was not surprised, who wouldn’t be? “Never seen a female witcher before, at least not one alive one after the Trials.”
"Yeah, my existence is one of the many mysteries this land holds.“
"You were lucky that day.” Was she? Aiden’s optimism sometimes went beyond her understanding.
"Lucky as one can be. Just two of us got through it alive. And believe it or not, I was the one without unwanted side effects.“
"The old masters mixed something new into the mixture. Ten died, one survived and one sometimes loses his head… Hard.” Telling this was even Aiden’s gaze fixated on an indescribable place on the table, away from anything too materialistic. “Never used the same mixture again.”
"Met him last month, havent seen any new scars on him,“ said Svetlana to Aiden, just becouse. Does it even mean anything?
Svetlana drank from her mug, the first sip, the first taste, the first try out of many to wash the bitterness in her mouth with a different kind of bitter-sweet sensation.
 ***
 "You two travel together?”
"Yes, for a while. Some contracts are better done with help,“ said Aiden.
"True, but a cat and a dog?”
 "Wolf.“ barked Lambert.
"That’s what I said.” Svetlana made a note that if she ever meets Lambert again, he is a good guy to get wasted with.
The mugs pilled themselves on their table and with new ones on the table, Aiden took the liberty to make a toast.
“To new friends! To use!”
“To the lucky ones.”  said quietly Lambert and the cynical tone with which he spoke made Svetlana smile at him in understatement.
 ***
“I have had heard that Wolves spend their winters together at the school. That must be nice.” Svetlana heard this from one traveller she met a few years ago.
"That old castle is in ruins, but yeah, It is better then letting your ass freeze somewhere outside.“
"I prefer the adventure in never staying in one place too long when its too cold I head south and if it’s too hot… who am I kidding, it’s never too hot.”
"Not everyone is a stray like you. I wish I was born a real cat. Just lying all day never hungry. My royal owners would treat me so good. Yeah, that’s the dream.“
Svetlana couldn’t recall the last time she was having such a good time.
 ***
A melody came from the other side of the inn. Close to the fireplace, a group of musicians started playing their tunes, with people singing along. Svetlana was singing too, quietly. She felt the tune dance around her ears carrying some familiar feeling that made her heart skip a beat. So she sang.
 My head was warm
My skin was soaked
I called your name ‘til the fever broke
When I awoke
The moon still hung
The night so black
That the darkness hummed
She abandoned the conversation she was having with her two companions, letting them talk to one other.
 I raised myself
My legs were weak
I prayed my mind be good to me
An awful noise filled the air
I heard a scream
In the woods somewhere
 A woman’s voice
I quickly ran
Into the trees
With empty hands
Her mind was somewhere else. In a land far away. Not here yet not there at the same time. Singing to the tune dancing around her ears.
 A fox it was
He shook afraid
I spoke no words, no sound he made
 His bone exposed
His hind was lame
I raised a stone to end his pain
What caused the wound
How large the teeth?
I saw new eyes were watching me
As the song continued the singers died along the way, in the end, it was only Svetlana singing the song that no one else knew how to finish.
The creature lunged
I turned and ran
To save a life I didn’t have
Dear, in the chase
There as I flew
Forgot all prayers
Of joining you
I clutched my life and wished it kept
My dearest love
I’m not done yet
 How many years
I know I’ll bear
I found something
In the woods somewhere.
"Young lady, is that you?”
The whole inn fell quiet. Every eye in a room on a small fragile figure of an old woman standing behind a woman with two swords strapped to her back.
Svetlana turned around, meeting with eyes filled with disbelief and hope that contrasted with the confusion she felt.
“I knew it was you, the moment I heard you sing. I sang you that song when you were little, remember. My sweet, sweet child.”
"I am sorry… Do I know you?“ "There must have had been some misunderstanding. You must have mistaken me for someone.”
What is happening?
"How could I? I can see your father in you, those eyes and that nose of yours.“ The old woman’s face burned with euphoria as she spoke. "My little owl.”
The musician that stop the music a while ago, put his instrument down and with worry in his eyes approached that old woman.
“Mother, what are you doing? Please, come sit back.”
Svetlana gestured to the troubled man, that everything is fine which did not make him any less worried. He was in his late fifties, his face filled with wrinkles, some from laughter other from all the hardship, if he smiled she knew the dimples on his cheeks would be more prominent.
Would I look the same as Gustav if I aged normally? Wait, who is Gustav? A picture of a young boy with cute dimples flashed her mind. Just for a second.
The old woman did not stop talking to her, but Svetlana heard less than half of it. Because what she heard was too painful, too vivid to be true.
Pictures shaped like stories flood her mind as could do nothing and just watch the old woman’s lips.
“You are going to go to a place where they can help you,” said to her woman with fire in her hear and oceans in her eyes.
“But I wanna stay here with you and nanny, who would take care of you now that dad is gone.” answered her voice but not herself.
Now she watched the carriage that was supposed to take her to the school she knew nothing about. She watched as a pack of Nekkers attack them. Back then, she did not know what those little devils were.
“Run, you can’t let them catch you!” yelled the guardsman as he fouth for his life.
Hide, hide, hide - the sun burns. She had to hide, too much pain.
The imagery shifted again. She was hiding in a crack in a big rock when the man found her. “Look what do we have here. Come on out, little one.”
That mans eyes glowed in the dark like candles flame, she was so scared.
After this last memory, she knew what would follow - the pain, the despair, the Trials.
“Your dear mother was heartbroken when she heard about the attack. She refused to accept that you were gone just like your father. I should have had believed her.”
The woman placed her soft, gentle hand on Svetlanas cheek. The touch of a loving mother - something that was long forgotten - something lost in those woods somewhere.
With all the eyes turned Svetlanas way, that night those two farmers got their answer - in one way or another.

Every revolution Starts with a question. A What Do We Want? A When Do We Want It? A Who’s With Me? But not every revolution Moves mountains or changes the world or splits a wide gap in government. Though these days, I’m not sure how difficult it is to split a wide gap in government. Revolution, meaning to turn Churning and stirring up inside someone A typhoon in my insides You are the definition of a storm in a teacup. A human-sized wave of disaster You take a storm with you wherever you go And then laugh at anyone who has not had the foresight to bring an umbrella. You’re the damn opportunist Who wears snowshoes in central London in June And finds that freak snow pile. You’re the only person I’ve ever met Who is in equal measures the extremes Of optimism and cynicism A paradox spinning like two sides of a coin. I think of you every time I have to flip a coin to make a decision; Spinning mid air, fingers crossed behind my back that today Will be the one time in a billion it lands on its edge, perfectly balanced. Every revolution starts with a question. I will bend and break myself to fit around you A misshapen question mark So that I am the question with which your revolution begins- And you are the answer at the ends of all my quandaries. Not all questions have happy endings. In reality, We are a revolution Spiraling around the centre of the same broken record And it all starts and ends with a question: “what happened?”

People become embittered, hard, jaded and cynical when diminished or treated with cruelty. They live life with fear and skepticism rather than optimism, hope and faith.... Hurt people, hurt (others) and what you heal in yourself you heal in future generations. The only way to end tyranny and abuse is to start with your own shadow self and heal and forgive yourself, regain your trust in yourself and the world, and be able to feel safe and be able to be trusting and vulnerable. Courage and vulnerability are two sides of the same coin!⠀ ⠀ #dare2bxtraordinary⠀ www.DareToBeExtraordinary.com https://www.instagram.com/p/CMVHH_VnETe/?igshid=1opm078vulqp5

remember that nae.nami post i said i wouldn’t make? well here it is anyway under a cut because it might get kinda long and it’s mostly just conjecture
(and a lot of this is mostly platonic stuff too don’t think i’m like waxing philosophical about a romantic ship necessarily)
basically, naegi and nanami are... pretty similar in that they represent “the heart” of their individual classes. dr3′s portrayal of nanami was flawed and one-dimensional, yeah, but their similarities aren’t all from that. AI nanami is the one character in dr2 connected, however loosely, to the original cast. also, there’s NO WAY it’s a coincidence that they’re the same height. i refuse to believe it.
pre-despair, they’re both pretty optimistic. where (my) nanami differs from naegi is that naturally, she’s more of a cynic. she has to struggle to maintain her optimism, and she often finds herself thinking pessimistic thoughts and she has to check herself and remind herself to look on the bright side. theyre both seen as naive, innocent, pure... whatever.
the difference, in survivorverse, is that niceness and naivete works out for naegi. it does good things for him! he’s strong because of it, he manages to work his way through the killing game because of his optimism and his belief in people! this absolutely isn’t me knocking on him, this is essentially what he does best. what does this same attitude do to nanami? it ruins her. because of her naivete, her belief that things will work out as they do in games, she leads her entire class into a trap that nearly costs her her life and costs them their... immortal souls, idk what you wanna call it, but it taints them forevermore. there’s no going back from what they’ve done, now that they’ve fallen to despair.
so we have these two kids who have led very differing paths in life now. nanami learns to be more pragmatic, she doesn’t trust as easily, she’s not as forgiving as makoto “join us on the side of hope, junko enoshima” naegi. part of this i think is because, while naegi’s been through absolute hell, the hell he’s been through is different than what nanami’s been through. and as a result, when they meet up in future foundation, nanami in equal amounts likes and dislikes him. she admires his optimism but also can find it very grating, because she’s absolutely certain it might get him killed.
and while working on the neo world program, she grows to care for him, as a friend (or perhaps as something more). this probably causes them to butt heads more often than not, because she gets protective of him. she doesn’t want to see him get hurt, but sometimes she can’t help but think he’s putting himself in danger and being too trusting! so she gets frustrated! because she doesn’t want to lose anybody else she cares for!
so i think, in survivorverse, she would end up having a complicated relationship with naegi because they’re essentially two sides of the same coin. it’s a friendship where two people, who you think would get along, probably end up arguing just as often as they end up making nice and enjoying each other’s company, specifically because they care about each other. and i don’t think anyone would doubt that watching them, even though they do have different viewpoints on the world.
and it’s definitely a dynamic i’d like to explore more in depth because it’s interesting to me. (especially if it turns into a romantic relationship, when both of them are probably pretty oblivious when it comes to things like that-- both of them having lost people they were supposed to protect, both of them often reckless in how much they care about other people... especially considering how she leaves for jabberwock island with the remnants and stays there for a while, regardless of whether she’s in a relationship with anybody else)
@mxssias alex you didn’t ask for any of this but this one goes out to you regardless because we’ve talked a little bit about naegi and nanami in future foundation so. here it is.
