"What do you want? I still haveー"
"C'mon, Kiyo. You just got back here from Osaka."
"Then, speak. Stop hitting around the bush. You know I don't like hospitals."
"She's gonna be here any moment. Just be patient, son."
Kiyoomi grunted as he sat back on his dad's office couch. The office was rather modern, his dad desperately riding Kiyoomi's generation. Though, it has their big family portrait just right off his humungous desk that he remembered was from Barcelona. His desktop was coated with orange fluffy cloth siders, probably a gift of Sara's, Kiyoomi's 4-yr-old nieceーand it was paired with a keyboard and mouse of the same shade. It practically throws off the white and classy vibe of the place. He smiled at the thought.. but this is all till in a hospital's vicinity. Kiyoomi's stomach started stirring.
"So, how's your team? Are you fitting nicely?" His father asked as Kiyoomi fiddled with his phone, huffing through his black mask, very anxious to leave.
"Sort of. We have the leagues next three months."
"Oh fuck off. The chief resident asked you, not me."
"Please."
The door flung open and revealed you in your scrub suit and gown, tongue mockingly out to someone behind the door. You, then, slid inside the office and closing the door, your eyes fell on Kiyoomi first, and then to his father. Kiyoomi has to inch the distance more from the smell his nose registered. Where would she had been? Germs. Germs. Germs.
"You called for me, Sirーah, Doc?"
Kiyoomi didn't spare you a glance, still fiddling at his phone, maybe trying to give his volleyball team captain a text or two of any nonsense to keep him visually busy. He just wants to get out of that place. His system is screaming already. He might want an alcohol bath, uh, that's too much. How does his family doing it likeー
"That's my youngest right there, Kiyoomi." The chairman of the hospital gestured to the curly black-haired man sitting dejectively on the couch, trying his hardest to ignore your presence. You perked a brow.
You leaned to the chairman, in the attempt to whisper. "And? I don't babysit teenagers, Doc. Too busy in becoming the medical director that I promised you."
Kiyoomi happened to glance at your direction when his father laughed lightly at whatever you whispered to him. He noticed your pout as you straightened your back, your gown's fabric crinkling at the movement. What were you even whispering to an old, married man? His nose scrunched up behind his mask, returning his attention to his phone.
"Take him to dinner, Y/n."
Both of your heads snapped at Sakusa Takashi that's already beaming at you, clearly pleased at what he said.
"Whー" Kiyoomi started to retort but you raced him to it first.
"I'm still comfortable in third-wheeling with Dai or with Katana-nee, Doc. Are they whining over me already?" Your feet stomp at your every word, whining like a child.
Kiyoomi wondered how did you even know his brother, or his cousin. Are you acquainted with the rest of his family? He doesn't recognize you from the numerous family occasions, or in any business functions where you could possibly be but remained unnoticed to him. Ugh. He knows where this is going. This also happened to his sister, that she somehow liked after years. He shivered at the thought.
He can't take the atmosphere of the office anymore so he stood up and said, "I'm going home."
"And he's this rude, Doc?" You smirked at Kiyoomi's direction, the ChairmanーKiyoomi's fatherーmirroring you, teasing his youngest son.
Huh. Is this a challenge?, Kiyoomi thought as he stared straight at his dad, black eyes hardly pass your figure. He scoffed at his father that mouthed 'Just once.' And he bored his eyes on yours and sighed.
You clasped your hands together, easing the tension Kiyoomi was giving you. "So, gimme an hour or two and I'd be ready, Kiyo. Orrrー" You faced the chairman and winked at him, knowing fully well that he knew what you're going to do with his beloved son. "ーbe with me in my rounds."
When you turned back to face Kiyoomi, you were greeted by his twitching eyes behind those round and delicate thin rimmed glasses. You returned them with a sly grin.
Kiyoomi found himself trudging after you to wherever. He actively convinces himself that this is better than waiting on that area where various people flocksーthe germ and virus infested waiting area at the lobby. This is better than staying on his dad's office where he'll just not hear the end of a discussion he doesn't want to associate with. Being with you is better. Yes, being with you is better.
You rounded to a hallway and he lifted his eyes from your back when he heard a familiar voice in the nearby nurse stationーto which you're heading to.
"The patient in 302 has to have his rehabilitations in 3 hours. Is the facility ready?"
"Yes, Doc."
"Dai, are you seeing what I'm seeing?"
You heard Kiyoomi groaned at your back as Daisuke and Katana spotted you approaching with their Kiyoomi. Their eyes are on him, round with bewilderment and surprise. You snorted. They are the culprits, the nerve of them. But eitherway, it's turning out well. Hopefully.
"Kiyoomi?"
"Is that their volleyball player?"
"Doc Takashi's youngest! Sakusa Kiyoomi!"
"He's so tall!"
"So hot lookーI mean, good looking!"
"He looks like a rougher version of Doc Dai."
Daisuke was the first one to approach his brother. Kiyoomi took a few steps back from him to which he chuckled. He glared at his brother through his glasses, daring him to approach further. Daisuke's tied black curls swayed as he moves his head to face you, hands in either sides of his waist, his gown pushed back revealing his branded slacks and dress shirt. Yeah, Kiyoomi's a rougher version alright.
"Ah, thanks Y/n, but how did you do this?"
His soft and genuinely amused laughs filled the hallways, followed by Katana's. The other fellows, nurses and residents nearby turned to the sound. You mentally noted that if Kiyoomi hasn't been wearing his mask, you'll see how red his cheeks were. Daisuke and Katana are sure to know how to tease him. You pursed your lips, not knowing whether to laugh with them or sympathize with his agony.
"Rounds." It was dangerously low that it had stuttered Daisuke's laughs. Kiyoomi's head was facing you, dark eyes demanding.
"Rounds, Y/n? With Kiyo?" Katana asked with pure curiosity as she motioned herself closer to you, her eyes on Kiyoomi.
"Who's with Sara right now?"
"Toya."
"Yeah, we have to have dinner by 6:30pm so he can go home early." Both of your fellow doctors turned wide-eyed to you from what you have just said. You rolled your eyes at them. "You whined at Sir Kashi about me third-wheeling on your respective dates. Can't believe you."
The two are still dumbstruck when you turned to Kiyoomi who's getting grumpier by the second. "Let's go?" You, next, called out to the interns at the back of the nurse station. "Those who wants to come with me for reports, let's go."
Katana rushed to the nurse station and opened a drawer hastily and went back in a matter of seconds, handing something to Kiyoomi. You peered at her extended hand and found two cute plastic vials of sanitizers, to which he gladly accepted. You heard stories of Kiyoomi from his siblings and cousins and how he hates crowds so much, anti-social.. and a germaphobe. You were even surprised he followed you to your rounds.
"Take care of my brother, Y/n." You didn't miss the dazed and stuttering tone of Daisuke as he patted your shoulder. He also placed a hand on Kiyoomi's shoulder as the latter carefully lather some of the sanitizer in his hands and sniffed it. Daisuke gave a squeeze at his shoulder before patting it twice. "Kiyo."
The interns and a nurse came filing up behind you, ready for the rounds. You took the walk to the ward when Katana called out, "Kiyo, be kind, okay?" Kiyoomi grumbled at your side to which you giggled. He shot a glance at you and furrowed his brows. You playfully turned your eyes away from him and stuffed your hands on your gown's pockets.
"Dai? Dinner? Seriously?"
"Dad. It's Dad."
Kiyoomi felt like running when he first stepped into the first ward you picked to do your rounds. He overheard your conversation with the one girl intern that you have two patients here. He took a deep breath and followed you inside.
"Mommyy~ how's the stitches? Is it still painful and itchy? How are you feeling?"
"Jii-saaaan~ how is the therapy? Are your movements doing fine? No reactions?"
"Baby~" He heard you cooed at that one kid on the second ward you lot went in. You sat in his bed and carefully patted his head. "Why are you crying? Does it still hurt?"
Kiyoomi has to turn his eyes away from your figure and unintentionally coughed. He mumbled a low sorry, thankfully of which you didn't hear.
"Tall curly man." His eyes turned back to the crying kid. The kid's eyes were on Kiyoomi as you looked with him with soft eyes. Kiyoomi thought he might be 6 or 7 years old. So young to be in a hospital. His eyes steeled and cold as he remembered something of which he shouldn't.
"I'm gonna wait outside."
You looked at Kiyoomi with concern and nodded. "One more room upstairs and we're off." Kiyoomi nodded as he took the exit of the ward. He can still hear the kid's cries from here so he distanced himself more, enough that he can see you walk out of the room anytime.
The ride was silent. Very uncharacteristic of you. Kiyoomi was silent, well he always is. You wanna ask about that cough and walking out a while ago but you thought that he maybe just be too grossed out at the patients. You suddenly felt guilty of making him accompany you in your rounds. You bit your lip as your hand knuckled up on the stirring wheel.
You badly want to break silence so, "Where should we eat?"
"Wherever you wish."
You glanced at him and found him staring at the view of bustling nightlife of Tokyo. You sighed and drove to your med friends' go-to fine dining. Well, you're assuming Kiyoomi would like it considering he's from a well-off family.
He waited for you to round up to him from the driver's side, you fixing your blouse as you approach him. Kiyoomi never got a good look of you in the hospital but now, amidst the glowing dim light of the restaurant and the parking lot's lamp post nearby, he sees you clearly and radiantly. It took him over a minute to stop his intrusive thoughts while you were still fixing your blouse and hair, unaware of his eyes, and so he motioned to the entrance of the restaurant.
"You're not allergic to anything?" He shook his head in response as he opened the door for you, to which your brows perked for a millisecond.
You ordered directly after being seated. The modern Japanese style fine-dining restaurant that you're in has a romantic ambience. Candles are lit and it's a bit dark, with just a low and very dimly-lit chandelier on each section of the space. Your friends would often take you here when they have to have a relaxing dinner after a toxic shift. And it is relaxing. You wonder if Kiyoomi's feeling the same.
He's exuding a laid back expression with a glint of disapproval to the whole situation you're both in. You're not dumb as to not know what the Chairman wants to happen with the both of you. You sighed. Just try, huh. Okay.
"So, Kiyo" You started, and his eyes darted to you from his phone, the candle giving it an unfathomable impression. You gulped. "When's the start of the season?"
He sighed and his gaze fell back to his phone. "In three months."
"MSBY, right? Of Osaka?" He nodded, eyes still on his phone. You chewed your cheek as your lashes kept fluttering on his direction, brows visibly furrowed at his loss of interest.
"How's Inunaki?"
Kiyoomi's brows were the first to react. It shot up, dragging his eyes with it, and then his head till you have his full attention, phone already discarded at the table.
He obscurely coughed, "You know him?"
You nodded, remembering the days when you dated the sweet libero. He was cute, but then you broke up with him to focus on your profession. It was a clean break though. No more strings attached. You were just reminded by him because the gentleman right in front of you is on the same team as your ex-boyfriend.
Kiyoomi was running his tongue on the backs of his teeth as he studied your face. You knew their team's libero. And your facial expression now was just like when he saw you talking with Daisuke earlier.
"He's fine. He's staying with our captain in their house just off Kita District. He might be off to Osaka next week with him." You hummed softly and it sent shivers on him, it made his thighs pop anxiously underneath the table.
He knows what's happening. Fuck, he knows what's happening. Can't believe it's actually happening at this certain point in his life. He remembered those incessant talks with his friends on his volleyball batch, especially talks with Atsumu and Kenji. He tilted his head as he stares at the spot on the table directly in front of you, not daring to look you in the eye.
"Howー" He was cutted off when the food arrived at your table. Thankfully. He didn't know what's gotten into him that he was about to ask something he shouldn't. He bit his lip behind his mask as he watched the food getting arranged in the table.
You're still dazed at how Kiyoomi suddenly poured you a bit of his attention by just mentioning Shion when suddenly, he got rid of his mask so casually you didn't have time to brace yourself. You found yourself staring at his features as a whole. His nose perfectly fitted his handsome face, thin-lipped, smooth cheeks and sharp jawline. You found your eyes trailing to every nook of his face and found his eyes in the process, staring back at you.
"Wow. You're handsomer without the mask, Kiyo."
Kiyoomi raised a brow as he placed a plate full of sushi and sashimi in front of you. "And you're saying that so casually, thanks." You didn't miss the little quiver of his bottom lip as he spoke, red ears still evident within the orange light from the candles.
You smiled while prepping your chopsticks. "Well, we're already grown-ups so no need to shy away about saying those kind of things." You trailed your eyes at his face, now focused on what dish to try first. But no, Kiyoomi's attention is on your voice. He's desperately trying to act normal, and yes, controlling himself and his tongue.
"Try the sashimi first, they taste good. Or do the Gyoza." You suggested and he picked the sashimi first, nodding as the dish reached his tongue. You have to distract yourself with eating your own food served in front of you.
The dinner was fine, casual queries and talks were exchanged but you concluded that someone not daring enough can't get any info out of Kiyoomi. And you're not daring enough. All queries were just public info, you-can-know stuffs.
You stared at the mirror of the restroom after you briefly excused yourself after taking two glasses of wine just to get out of that situation. You're questioning yourself, and can't believe you're feeling insecure with how you look. You fixed your hair, your lip tint. Are you that old for Kiyoomi? Are you not pretty for him?
You groaned as you repeatedly muttered, "Just try. If it doesn't work, then okay. It's okay." You exited that restroom with a newfound determination.
"Shall we go? Dai-nii said you both have to prepare for a surgery 6 hours prior." You stuttered as it was the first sentence Kiyoomi gave you after you sat back from the restroom. You whisked your wrist for your watch and rolled your eyes. It's still 7:30pm, the surgery is 5am. Seriously, Daisuke?
Grumpiness sat in you as you drove back to the hospital, still basking on Kiyoomi's silence. Or which you thought.
"Can we go to your favorite alley of yakitori?" Your wide-eyed gaze found his popping thighs and you didn't dare to look further to his face. But he noticed your surprised expression to which he turned away with a steeled expression and a click out of his tongue.
Why is he frustrated? He can't be that frustrated. He doesn't care about you. He closed his eyes for the rest of the ride.
"Kiyo, what are we doing here?"
He just hummed as he collect himself out of your car and out to the alley, clearly looking for a certain stall, his mask already back on his face, sanitized hands on his pockets. You scampered after him to which he sighed and turned back to you. He saw you still taking a few steps closer to him as you fixed your hair and glistening eyes locking to a stall farther back. He can't miss the brief parting of your lips and a bob on your throat. He followed your gaze and briskly walked to that direction.
"Hey! Wait!"
Where are you dining? She likes the yakitori on her favorite streetfood alley.
Kiyoomi, she has to prepare for our surgery 6 hours prior. Take her back to the hospital right after dinner.
Where are you now? Are you on your way back? Don't reply if you're driving. Be careful.
Daisuke's texts kept ringing on his ears as he heaves two trays full of yakitori, with you following him in bewilderment. You both were walking to the previous nurse station Kiyoomi saw his brother. And he's really there now and waiting. Kiyoomi furrowed his brows as he saw his brother perked up on your sight.
Kiyoomi was silent as he placed the trays on the station and informing them that it's on the house. He quickly took the paperbag with some yakitoris too and handed it to you, ignoring the stares of Daisuke on his side.
"Kiー"
"You shouldn't be considerate with others when we say Wherever you want. It was supposed to be your choice." You were startled when he said that to your face, the others hearing it. "Anyways, thanks for driving and for the dinner."
Your jaw dropped, cheeks burning, as your eyes followed his hovering figure walking away from you. Kiyoomi was clearly annoyed with whatever and you had no idea why that is. You turned to face Daisuke who was already staring at you, and he huffed, big strides following Kiyoomi.
"Doc Dai was already frustrated with something, Doc Y/n."
You turned to the nurse who spoke, gesturing her to go on with what's she's saying. "Maybe something about his dad?"
Hm. Maybe because of the run-down of the department's allowance., you thought as you ran your fingers through the paperbag with five yakitoris. You smiled at the thought of Kiyoomi. Well, he can be sweet while being grumpy and mean.
"Kiyo!"
Kiyoomi rolled his eyes as he detestfully punched in the buttons of the elevator. He quickly pulled out the sanitizer Katana gave her and lather some on his hands. Daisuke found his space on his brother's side, huffing whileーKiyoomi doesn't knowーlooking so annoyed with something? He smirked.
"You didn't go eat at her favorite stall?" Daisuke asked as the elevator dinged and opened for the both of the men. Thankfully, it's empty so they piled in.
"We're already eating when you texted." Kiyoomi deadpanned, just staring at the elevator door while his brother's body is on his direction, eyes somewhat blazing with whatever. Kiyoomi's not dumb, and he's mad at it.
"And you bought her yakitori after the dinner? What's with the trays?"
"For you, guys. Trying to be friendly, considering Katana-nee-san asked me to be kind."
He walked out of the elevator as soon as it reached the basement parking lot of the hospital building, Daisuke following behind with more questions he's not gonna answer due to an impending blow on his part that he's afraid to burst.
"It just took a few hours for you huh."
Kiyoomi faced his brother, full height and pride seeping through his veins, face scrunched up with his now discarded mask tucked on his chin.
"Dai. Nii. Chan. Why are you dating someone else when you're clearly in love with her?" There goes the blow.
When Daisuke didn't answer because of utter shock, Kiyoomi dragged his feet to his car far out left of the parking lot leaving his brother behind and frozen.
But he didn't know why he found himself on the same hospital again a week after that fateful one-time dinner. His fingers are tapping on his steering wheel as he was parking. His niece mused as how she's going to see Daisuke and Katana, Motoya cradling her in the passenger seat. No one knew of the conversation he had with Daisuke, and Daisuke hadn't been talking to him the past week, clearly left unguarded with Kiyoomi's blow. Irritating. As irritating as how you got stuck in his mind since that dinner night.
"Yoomi!" Sara leaned to Kiyoomi as they got out of the car. Kiyoomi carried her in one arm and eyed Motoya for her orange mask.
"Matchy." Motoya snickered as he hooked Sara's mask on her ears and quickly got his phone to take a picture of his grumpy cousin and Sara, both wearing orange kiddie masks. Motoya was surprised when Kiyoomi kissed Sara's head through his mask, completely ready for the shot. And he might've sent it to their GC, or maybe even posted online that you'll be seeing a few hours later and keel about.
Sara is loved by many nurses and doctors in the hospital for her talkativeness and cuteness, their future cutie doctor. But you gravely prayed she'll never be like her uncle Kiyoomi that yes, a kind gentleman but also and absolutely yes to being rude and grumpy.
Your irises immediately dilated when you saw her in Kiyoomi's arm, and how cute of Sara to make Kiyoomi wear her signature orange stuffs. You chuckled at the thought as you approached them.
"Ah, Y/n-san!" You ruffled Motoya's hair as you saw him bounding past Kiyoomi with Sara's orange bag.
"Y/n-chaan~" Sara mused as she leaned for you to carry her. But Kiyoomi held her away from you.
"She still has germs, Sara." Eventhough it was a mumble, you can't help but to hear it considering the distance between you. "Later, okay?" Kiyoomi kissed Sara's cheek still with mask on.
Sara lovingly put her hand on Kiyoomi's cheek, nudging the bottom of his glasses up, "But I like her, Yoomi. Won't care if she has germs or none. You shouldn't too. You like her, right?"
Motoya snorted at your back, while you and Kiyoomi unmistakenly blushed at Sara's words.
"Baby, Iー" Kiyoomi glanced at you, your hand on your mouth and face still burning, eyes still wide on him from shock. "I don't.. like.. her."
Kiyoomi's words rang in your ears and it has been an hour since then. You're in the middle of your rounds, clearly distracted that she had to let the interns take notes of what she said and had to read them afterwards for double checking. You tilted your head to let the thought die, and ran your fingers through your hair.
You jumped at a low cough on your side, and your head turned to face Kiyoomi, head low and fiddling fingers together, eyes unfocused. "Yes, Kiyoomi?"
His eyes shot at you on his name, uncomfortable without the nickname you once gave him. And you didn't know why, searching on your depths why didn't you used that. He'll probably worry about that, but very unlikely. He doesn't like you.
"Sara wants you to be with us out for dinner."
"Okay." You nodded in a heartbeat still wondering why doesn't he like you.
And Kiyoomi is uncomfortable with the looks you're giving him as you walk with him, Sara still in his arms refusing to walk because of her uncle's big paces. She is still talking with you and you converse with her, your eyes still burning on Kiyoomi from time to time. And Kiyoomi doesn't like how out-of-place is he with the little girl talk.
You rode passenger in his car, Sara on your lap after Kiyoomi told you it's now okay. But on what grounds are you okay? You can't understand that side of him, and you want to ask him to understand. You want to understand him. You want to understand whyー
You shifted on your seat, arms wrapping on Sara's little waist as she sings songs from Kiyoomi's nursery rhymes, and you sang with her too through the familiar lyrics. And it was proper music for Kiyoomi and he scoffed inaudibly, so amused with the scene he wished he can record it.
His mind was unintentionally wandering far off the future, where you could be with your own little girl in your lap, still with him in the driver's seat, both of you all dressed up according to the little girl's wishes. And it will be blissful and peaceful and no Daiー
He felt himself knuckled up at his steering wheel and you took notice, stammering mid-singing, thinking he doesn't want you singing, thinking how bad your voice is. You gulped hard, eyes straight to the dash and onto the highway he's cruising through.
"Don't you want me here, Kiyoomi?" You tilted your head, chin resting on your palms as Kiyoomi's eyes were on his niece playing on the makeshift playground of the kiddie fastfood chain. Kids on her age are there too. Ugh germs. He might want Sara to take a bath when they get home later.
It's Kiyo for you, Y/n. It's Kiyo. He wanted to say that he caught himself. He doesn't want to be misunderstood, though he himself doesn't understand himself either.
"Motoya's with Dad on a business meeting about his share. And I'm sorry if I can't stop Sara from whining for you to go with us." You hummed and his thigh started popping anxiously at instinct to the sound.
"Kiyoomi. Look at me for a second." Why do you want him to look at you? Why are you even asking him to look at you? His thoughts were battling inside his head and he willfully silenced it just for a moment, and without a thought, looked at you straight to your dilated orbs. He never found such beautiful eyes like yours, beautiful orbs beyond those long lashes. He blinked.
"Why?"
"Oh, nothing." You smiled and you found what you were looking for. A deductive confirmation, an incomplete assessment to whatever situation you have with him. You suddenly wanna go back to the hospital, or just anywhere away from his scalding gaze also searching.
The food was already served when Sara got back from the indoor playground, already holding her mask out of her face like Kiyoomi now. Kiyoomi turned her little figure around and got her scrunchie to tie her long big-curled black hair. And you reveled at the sight.
"D'you want me to feed you or you wanna be a big girl for today?"
"With Y/n-chan, Yoomi."
You felt like your heart skipped a beat when Sara lipped on your direction. Oh how cute is she, a bead of sweat still trickles down her temple and forehead. You reached for her hand and sat her on your lap to which she happily obliged, swaying her legs against yours as she smiles to her uncle across the table.
"Her towel, Yoomi." You deadpanned at Kiyoomi, trying hard not to smile when you imitated Sara's nickname for him, trying hard not to smile when you saw him blush upon hearing it slip out of your lips. And he tried too hard not to dwell on it. Try harder, Kiyoomi.
"Baby, you have to feed yourself because she also has to eat, okay?"
"But I want to be fed by Y/n-chan, Yoomi." Sara's pouts were Kiyoomi's weakness. He closed his eyes in exasperation, keeping in mind that he is the adult here and with the authority.
"Yeah, Yoomi, I can feed her while eating just fine. Let's eat."
And you tried your hardest too, to make it sound so natural and not veiled with awkwardness. And Kiyoomi regretted finding that Kiyo on you earlier that day. This is way worst than it, this will drive him to his grave. He bit his lip in annoyance to his giddiness.
The dinner with Sara went fine with you feeding her. Kiyoomi helped through the process, feeding her alternately while you eat, too. And maybe a bit too awkward, because some eyes inside the food chain were on you three, murmuring about how good-looking of a family you are with Kiyoomi and Sara. You should put some blush-on next time when you're with him, just to hide the natural blush you had been wearing throughout the time.
"Thank you for your time, Y/n."
"Anytime." You winked at him and debated with yourself between saying more, or just go straight to anywhere away from him. That was enough indulgence for today for Kiyoomi doesn't like you. You have to remind yourself.
But you softly patted the head of the sleeping figure in Kiyoomi's arms, and Kiyoomi stiffened on the closeness. He can smell your fragrance and something else. He nibbled his cheek and turned his eyes straight, to where he found Daisuke staring at them, smiling. Kiyoomi was confused for a moment.
"Take her home now. Drive safely, Yoomi." You patted his wide and bulky shoulder softly, trying not to wake Sara up. Kiyoomi hummed as he stared back on his brother, clearly pertrubed over something in his mind he dare not say. And you were oblivious of the tension. He's so glad you were.
You waved Kiyoomi bye and went to Daisuke, slithering your body towards him before grasping both his cheeks with one hand. All the while, Daisuke was still smiling to Kiyoomi before he dropped his eyes on you and messed your hair. Kiyoomi had to quickly turn away and go straight home, also oblivious that the following morning will change the course of the situation.
You were pacing back and forth outside the halls for the doctors' offices, a hard flush on your cheeks visible. Kiyoomi had asked you out of nowhere for a lunch date of sorts.
These past two months was too confusing for you. Because the Kiyoomi that doesn't like you keep poking out of nowhere, taking a portion of your time of day. May it be another dinner with Sara, or just with him, or being with you on your rounds, recently and suprisingly mask down and talking with your patients. He may have even memorized your sched like the back of his hand for the untimely timing of his visits.
These past two months was like a typhoon for you. Kiyoomi was the typhoon. And you can't brace yourself enough. Maybe because you were used to him being rude and grumpy, well, he still is, but something changed in him.
"Good luck, Y/n. HAHAHA!"
Motoya replied once when you asked him about why Kiyoomi was doing things he usually won't do. What's the good luck for? The toothpaste in the tube had bursted out and grimed on your fingers in annoyance to Motoya's reply.
"No comment LOL!"
And Daisuke, too. He's becoming normal for youーin a sense that he won't joke about his feelings for you anymore, or he isn't as clingy as before, and less time with you. You remembered pouting when you read his reply after you asked him too about Kiyoomi's actions, and that you threw your phone across your bed in frustration.
But now, you were smiling calmly in the back of your mind, reminding yourself that Kiyoomi doesn't like you. Yeah, he doesn't like you.
"Okay. Pick me up? Text me if you're here already."
"Can we take pictures Y/n?"
Like hell. You tried not to notice him taking stolen pictures of you when you're not looking. But never with him. You nodded and took his phone and snapped a pic with himーor maybe four with wacky poses. A nurse also took one with you on your scrub suit and gown, his hand surprisingly ghosting on your waist to which you nearly flinched.
"What's with the pictures?" You asked him during your lunch with him in your favorite yakitori stall.
"I'm going back to Osaka this weekend. Leagues are in a month and we still have to condition ourselves." You poked on your katsudon as you pouted on his answer.
"Had to show how you are doing to Inunaki-san. You're friends, right?"
He placed a slice of meat on your bowl that you acknowledged by placing a yakitori on his plate. You hummed at his statement, to which his thighs popped and you placed a hand on it to relax him and grinned, a habit you have when you hummed and he'll grow anxious by it. You tapped his thigh once before continuing on your meal.
"You're going back to Osaka. Can I come see your games some time if I'm free?" You're pushing your luck, no way he'll agree toー
"Sure. Any vacant time. Just be sure it'll not disrupt your shifts. I'll text you the time and venues of every game we'll have 3 days prior."
You smiled through kneading with your food with your chopsticks. "Glad to hear." And maybe you should know sometime soon, that even if moments like these are to be captured, it won't do any justice to Kiyoomi.
"Can I go see you off this weekend then?"
Both of you are already back from the lunch date when you asked him. He's still sipping from his milktea, one hand on the plastic with 2 large trays of yakitori, biceps flexing against his fitted black shirt, his jacket discarded on his car. You're also carrying two batch containers of milktea, all for the residents and nurses in the station.
"No. I might not be present in the games if you do see me off."
It is still the Kiyoomi that doesn't like you.
"See you soon." And your heart skipped a beatーokay, maybe twoー when he leaned in to kiss your forehead swiftly as he can to put his mask back on to conceal his reddening cheeks.
You tried to stay calm as you smiled at him. "Take care, Yoomi."
He hummed and patted your head. "I'll come see you soon."
And before you even realized it, he's walking away from you, and it might hurt just one bit of this figure of him being away. You pursed your lips as your mind registered what had happened. But you rolled your eyes as you were not the first one to reactーmore like, squeal.
"Stop it, Katana-nee!" You can't help but giggle as more of the nurses joined Katana's teasing and squealing. "Yoomi doesn't like me."
Katana scoffed mid-giggling. "What nonsense is that? He clearly likes you, Y/n!"
"He said so himself." You shrugged, still smiling as you took a sip of the milktea you and Kiyoomi bought.
"And you?" Your eyes darted to her, Katana's scrutinizing gaze boring at you. "How are you feeling about this?"
You stared at her, fumbling with your thoughts in your mind on how to answer that that it won't be misunderstood. Though, one phrase stood out. You bit your lip and hang your head low, fiddled with the straw of your milktea.
"I don't want to fall in love alone, Nee-san."
"Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. Nov 24, 5:30pm. Let me know if you could come so I can reserve you a seat near the court."
You smiled, staring at his text from 3 days ago. You have replied then, even videocalled him after that, and the day after, like the ones you had a few weeks ago whenever he was free, or when you are free. It has been barely two months and the leagues has already started last month. You had watched his matches that you can't see live on your phone, or on Youtube. And you call each other at the end of each game, just talking about anything like how was the day going for both of you, or how was the game,or how did you enjoy watching him play. You smiled at how he wants you to be involved in his field of interest. But Y/n, he doesn't like you.
"Y/n, Chairman called for you in his office."
You turned to face Doc Akaashi and his hoarse voice. Your brows furrowed at it. "You okay, Doc?"
"I'm okay. Just stressed with my son."
"Oooh, Keiji?"
He nodded, running a hand on the back of his neck. "Yeah, but he's okay now, thanks to his friendsーyour Yoomi included." He snorted at his tease. You pouted as he patted your shoulder and walked away after gesturing you to the Chairman's office.
You checked the timeーstill 9:30amーwhile walking through the long hallway to the Chairman's office. You still have to pick up Sara by 3pm because she has literally begged you yesterday to take her to her Jii-chan Yoomi's games. And it will be a secret, she said. You chuckled at the thought of her. That kid really adores Kiyoomi.
You knocked before going into the office. You were entranced by a golden haired young man with glasses and a dark-grayish green haired young man on the couch, sitting and looking at you walking in the room.
"ーCoz Doc, I can't."
You turned to the Chairman's direction and you saw a golden-haired young lady sitting in front of the Chairman and rambling about something. Is she a patient?
"Sit first, Y/n." You heard the chairman as he paused to look at you, with the golden-haired lady's eyes on you too. She smiled at you briefly and turned again to the Chairman. You sat down across the men, well as you look closely they might still be in highschool. They're just tall-lookingーor really maybe tall.
"I am okay, really."
The golden haired boy snorted. "Doc, she slapped someone real hard hardly two hours ago. Twice."
The girl turned to the direction of the boy who spoke. "Shut up, Kei! She needs it! Who would wake her up other than her bestest girl-friend she'll ever have, huh?"
"You hate her." It was the other boy now that had spoken, and you were out of place already, trying to understand the situation.
She pouted, "I don't, and she knows it."
"Okay. Okay, Ran. Just do the oximeter for now. Will that calm you three?"
The Chairman took the pulse oximeter and latched it on Ran(?)'s pointer finger. And you had no idea why you're here. You leaned back on the couch while waiting for anything.
"I told you to just stay at Fukurodani while we send them off! Now Aki-nii knew about this!"
"And who texted him huh? Was itー"
And the unspeakable happen. The door of the office bursted open and you might've been excited for this for months now, but no. He stormed to Ran and pulled her up to stand.
"I told you not to go here to see my dad!"
It was Kiyoomi, already in his jersey under his MSBY track jacket, his black eyes furious and mask disregarded somewhere in his pockets. It stirred something in you, of which you thought you won't feel towards him. It scared you.
"Omi-san!" Ran yelped at Kiyoomi's grip. And you felt concerned for her as you jumped up from the couch. You can see his grip digging on her flesh.
"Kiyoomi!" The Chairman had also risen up from his seat, trying to get in between the two.
"I told you, Ran, did I? I told you to go find another doctor to take you! I told you why!"
"Kiyoomi-san!"
"Ran!"
"Omi-san, it hurts!"
"Kiyoomi!"
And you saw it in his eyes that's not leaving Ran's, a flicker of concern as he saw tears trickling down from hers. "Leave. Now."
The amber-eyed boy collected Ran that's now glaring at Kiyoomi, still with tears in her eyes. "Hope you fall in your butt, Kiyoomi!" And she was dragged by her waist out of the office.
Kiyoomi snapped a look at the dazed face of the Chairman, and he groaned. "How could you do that to her?" The chairman whispered in his strangled breaths.
"This is exactly why!"
"She did nothing to us! To you! To me!"
"SHE DID! She has her mother's face that you can't even forget after all these years!"
"It's..not her fault Kiyoomi.."
"Assign her to another doctor Dad, or I'll take the matters to my own hands."
"You know I can't."
Kiyoomi dialed in his phone and took a look at you, he sighed, just registering that you had witnessed something you shouldn't and he mouthed Sorry, to which you nodded, hesitant and still wide-eyed at the course of events happened in a matter of minutes.
"Daisuke. Where are you?ーCan you come up here at Dad's?ーYes, right now. ASAP."
It was achingly quiet for a few minutes when Daisuke barged in, breathless, still in his gown and a steth dangling around his neck. "Saw Ran-chan outside as I'm running up here. What happened?"
But Kiyoomi ignored him and turned to you. "Come with me, Y/n?" His voice is hoarse from yelling, but calmer now.
You followed his hurried paces and he was searching the halls of the hospital and you know who's he searching for. And you are, too. If Ran's a patient, then she should be in aー
Kiyoomi suddenly rushed to a nearby bench just off the indoor café of the hospital. There you saw three figures seating, the same people that are just in the office moments ago. Kiyoomi squatted in front of Ran and peeked on her face. She was doubled over on her knees, the two not daring to touch her. You decide to observe at a distance on earshot, but Kiyoomi looked back at you, wanting you near him, and you stood closer, a few steps away from the golden haired boy who bowed to acknowledge your presence.
"I'm sorry." Kiyoomi was about to touch Ran's head when the amber eyed boy on the other side of the bench cleared his throat.
"Don't touch her yet, Kiyoomi-san."
You saw Kiyoomi sheepishly smile at Ran when there's a slight movement of her head, and you heard Ran groan.
"Don't peekーDon't peek on me like that." A few struggled breaths from her and you hear an exasperated sigh from the golden haired boy beside you. "Up, Omi-san."
The golden-haired boy looked up at you. "Is she the one you're talking about Kiyoomi-san?" Kiyoomi hummed, now on his feet looking down at Ran's position. Are they talking about you? No way.
"Do you have a pulse oximeter? Chairman's was dropped in the office." The question disrupted your impending thoughts of how these boys knew about you. You have to ask Kiyoomi later.
You patted your pockets and thankfully, you have one. It was the hospital's protocol though, for doctors and nurses to bring an oximeter everywhere within the vicinity.
"She's still in high-sensitivity. Hold it first, Kei."
There was silence after, except for Ran's groans and whimpers from time to time. You stared at Kiyoomi that was statue-like, staring at Ran's figure on the bench. A few wild assumptions came to mind at his actions, and how this day showed you another side, well two, of Kiyoomi. You tilted your head as he huffed and looked at you, a silent apology on his eyes. You smiled at him, reassuring him anything you can offer to him eventhough you're unsure of yourself too.
"Told you I can't pick another doctor other than your Dad, Omi-san. I warned you." Ran's eyes were full of fury you can't help but to turn away and flash a grin on the wall.
Kiyoomi rolled his eyes upon hearing her words. "Told you you have to do plastic surgery or something. I hate your face."
"I know I'm pretty." And Ran happened to glance at you and almost immediately, wide-eyed and rounded her lips in surprise, much to your confusion. "And she's prettier up close, Omi-san!"
"Thank you?" You raised a brow at Kiyoomi while you feel your cheeks burn on the compliment, to which he groaned, pulling his phone from his pocket. "Umー"
"I'm Tadashi. This is Ran and Kei. Nice to finally meet you, Y/n-san." Your eyes flew from Kiyoomi to the amber eyed boy that's now standing and bowing briefly to you, flickering a teasing gaze on Kiyoomi. Your confusion grew more, it's achingly pressed to your bones.
"Stop it, Tadashi." Kiyoomi snapped at Tadashi who just grinned and took back his seat.
Ran groaned. "Please don't make me laugh." And to which Tadashi and Kei laughed.
You saw Kiyoomi rolled his eyes, cheeks were also beet red as he turned to you, and you giddily smiled back at him. "Are you still watching the game later?"
"I still can't move. Please, Omi-san, go flirt with her somewhere else, far enough that I can't hear."
"I really want to throw you off the grid, Ran." Kiyoomi deadpanned and you wanna laugh hard at it. Kiyoomi's gonna flirt with who now?
"Thankful that you love me." Ran paused and winked at you. "As a friend, Y/n-san. This irritating guy is all yours."
"You shouldn't tease Kiyoomi-san like that, Ran."
"Whyyy? That's called revenge!"
"But Kiyoomi-san's less grumpy around her, don't you think Kei?"
"Stop it. Don't make me laugh."
All your senses came back when you heard Kiyoomi unintelligently mumbled in his breaths, still in the moment where he's dragging you away from the teasing trio. You finally became aware that every pair of eyes across the lobby, and that those eyes were staring at both of you. You nibbled at your lip as you also became aware of his strong hands gentle but tugging at your wrist to somewhere. You can't help but smile as you fixed your eyes on his curly black hair, swaying as he bounds to the direction of the ER, not surprised that Kiyoomi knows where you have your shift in this time of this specific day of the week.
"You'll flirt with me in the ER, Yoomーah!" You bumped into his shoulder as he halted suddenly, a hall away from the doors of the ER. He turned to you, surprisingly still blushing. "Geez, Yoomi." You half-heartedly took back your tease as you brushed your hand on the spot where his shoulder made contact on your head.
"Yーyou're still coming to the game later, right?" His eyes were unfocused, darting anywhere but in your direction and you find it too cute and amusing.
You hummed, placed both your hands on his shoulders as you tiptoed to kiss his red cheek. "Won't miss it this time. See you later okay?"
You slid a hand on his chest to tap it twice against his MSBY jersey and went off to the ER, grinning at your action and to Kiyoomi's reaction. Flirting with a Kiyoomi that doesn't like you feels like you were shot to as far as Jupiter, far past the clouds.
But you thought you knew what you did to Kiyoomi. You have no idea. As he watches your gown getting winded up as you walked to the doors of the ER after you kissed his burning cheek, he stopped breathing for a moment, replaying the moment in his mind numerous times for a short while. He leaned back on the wall as he catch his breath, licking his dry lips.
"Want a check-up, lovestruck man?" He turned to his smug brother smirking in front of him.
"You already diagnosed me two months ago. Don't need a check-up." Daisuke laughed as he remembered what he said to Kiyoomi months ago.
"Kiyo, okay, listen."
"No."
"Listen, please."
Kiyoomi paused halfway the stairs to their rooms. He sighed and waited for Daisuke to speak up.
"I loved her. Before. Yes. But it doesn't matter now, is it?"
"I don't wanna date someone you loved, Daisuke."
"But you're already falling for her." That surprised Kiyo to the bone. How could Daisuke say things like that so casually? And no, he's not in love with you.
"Don't deny it. I hereby diagnose you as that. And please, don't be considerate of me. Go move on her if you want to. I will support you."
"Y/n-chaan~ Yoomi?" You looked down at Sara that's tightly gripping your hand, afraid to get lost in the crowd of Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. She's wearing Kiyoomi's merch jersey as you were wearing his jersey too, but not from the merch store. You blushed again behind your orange mask at the thought.
"Want me to carry you, Sara-chan?" She nodded, her curls bobbing with her head as she goes. You picked her up and realized she's not that heavy as you gripped her up around her orange shorts. "Yoomi's somewhere inside. Let's go find him."
But you didn't find him, instead you found someone else.
"Oh. So it's true." You turned to face Inunaki Shion and you smiled at him. "Sakusa Kiyoomi, huh?" You felt Sara squirmed in your arms to face the stranger in front of you.
"I'm Sakusa Sara, nice to meet you sir."
"You already have a kid with him?" Huh?
"What business do you have with my mommy, sir?"
"IーHuh?"
Shion was also as wide eyed and stuttering as you, him, clearly assuming something, and you, clearly confused and surprised with Sara's words. You were about to clear things with him when Shion's eyes fell somewhere far on your back.
You turned to that direction and there, you saw Kiyoomi taking big paces towards you. Sara squealed but your attention was on Kiyoomi and his intense gaze on you.
"Yoomi."
"Sara, close your eyes."
"Haiii~"
You didn't notice the way Sara grinned while closing her eyes, to the way the crowd turned their attention on the three of you, and to how the voices muffled, making it seem like it was buried away deep below.
One thing that you were sure was happening was this: Kiyoomi's hands cupping your cheeks and leaning his face towards yours, staring at your dilated orbs and smiled before tilting his head and closing the gap of his lips and yours.
You had to close your eyes because of the intense feeling he's giving you, kissing him back with equal fervor, too frustrated you can't wrap your arms around his neck so you tightly cradled Sara's waist instead, and still too dumbstruck of why Kiyoomi is kissing you right now.
He leaned his forehead on yours, giving you both chances to catch your breaths. You smiled at him, about to ask him the question when, "Can you be my girlfriend, Y/n?"
And you chuckled at the question that confirmed your past deduction.
"But, Yoomi, Dai said you have to ask first before kissing." And you can't help but laugh at how Sara responded for you, you kissed her cheek in adoration.
"What she said, Yoomi."
"Is it always like that?" He pouted as you turned around to Shion, giving Sara to him to which the little girl understood and even gave you a thumbs-up.
Kiyoomi was baffled at how Shion carried Sara and was about to retort when you pulled him into you and kissed him again, this time wrapping your arms in his neck, him hugging you close by your waist and kissing you back.
And yeah, maybe it's true that Kiyoomi doesn't like you.
Because he was already truly, madly, and deeply in love with you.
"You don't have a girlfriend, sir."
"I will have soon, you know. Behave before I put you down and leave you."
"Should we stop them? The warm-ups will start at 5 minutes."
"Oh, don't be an ass, Meian."
"Someone take a picture of them."
"I feel so single."

Promoda Verse
■Inquiries/Desmond Co., Ltd. 082-927-3811
Shiny face with fin design
The sedan monowheel that is becoming popular all over the country
Make it yours as soon as possible
The current big sedan boom is thought to have started in Daikoku, Yokohama, and Nanko, Osaka. Of course, there were many other users working hard, but Daikoku and Nanko, where sedans spontaneously gathered, are considered to be the epicenter of the sedan boom.
As more and more sedans gather together, it's natural that a poorly dressed car won't stand out. Therefore, they tried to make the car stand out by making the aerodynamics bigger and bigger and lowering the vehicle height, but there are limits to that. Therefore, American dress-up, and modern shiny wheels, such as plating, sputtering, and super metal coating, which were used in low-rider cars, were set on sedans in an attempt to attract the attention of the gallery. This was the beginning of wheel popularity.
However, no matter how hard you try, it is impossible to match high-tech American wheels like the wing design. Wheel manufacturers were also well aware of this and were trying to secure users by making the sedan wheels they had released so far shine. However, this wheel The “Verse” is one step further than that. It is a wheel dedicated to shining objects, assuming that it will be a shining thing from the beginning of development.
The base design is a classical American wire spoke wheel. Of course, even if we bring that into the present age, we will end up wondering what the heck is going on. For this reason, this Verse has fine fin spokes and a part of the center connected to them folded back in a U shape, giving it a wire-like atmosphere despite the fin design. The full-moon design of the center cap reflects the light evenly, creating a good contrast with the sharp reflections of the fine fins. There are two types of coloring: white polish and champagne gold, as shown in the photo. The polished finish that shines by polishing the aluminum shines more white than ordinary plating, so even if you put it on a voluminous sedan, you can feel a strong presence. If you set the optional gold piercing bolt, you can create an even more gorgeous American sedan-like look.
is the sense of everyone who wears it
It's number one.
A message from the manufacturer
It is a wheel that can be used as a complement to dress up.
The basic design itself is intended to be ordinary, not eccentric. From the very beginning of the development process, we wanted to emphasize brilliance, so we focused on the balance with brilliance rather than the uniqueness of the design itself. Basically, we thought that shiny wheels would match not only American tailoring, but also European dress-up, so rather than setting them on an overly elaborate aero car, we set them on a well-balanced car. Wouldn't it be cool to receive one? Of course, even if you set it on a full normal Y32/33 car, the design is simple, so I think it will work perfectly.

The Hokuto Mandala, also known as the Big Dipper Mandala, holds significant importance in Japanese Buddhism, particularly in the Tendai and Shingon sects. It is utilized primarily during the Hokutohō or "Big Dipper Rite" to invoke protection against natural disasters and calamities.
Central Deity:
At the heart of the Hokuto Mandala is the central deity, Ichijikinrin Butchō, often depicted as Shaka Kinrin. Shaka Kinrin is a manifestation of Shaka Buddha, the historical Buddha, holding a golden wheel in a specific mudra known as the Hokkai Jōin Mudra, symbolizing meditation on the dharma-realm.
Symbolism and Depictions:
Surrounding Shaka Kinrin are various symbolic elements, including:
1. The Seven Stars of the Big Dipper: Representing auspiciousness and protection.
2. The Nine Planets: Symbolizing celestial influence and cosmic order.
3. The Twelve Signs of the Zodiac: Reflecting the cyclical nature of time and the cosmos.
4. The Deities of the 28 Lunar Mansions: Associated with lunar phases and celestial guardianship.
Variants:
While the core elements remain consistent, there are several variants of the Hokuto Mandala, each with its focus:
1. Myōken Mandara: Centered on Myōken Bodhisattva, associated with wisdom and enlightenment.
2. Tōhon Hokuto Mandala: Devoted to Shijōkō Butchō, emphasizing radiant light and spiritual power.
3. Shūnanzan Mandara: Influenced by Taoist cosmology, incorporating Taoist symbolism and deities.
Sect Differences:
The Tendai and Shingon sects have distinct versions of the Hokuto Mandala:
1. Tendai Sect: Utilizes a circular mandala, exemplified by the one preserved at Hōryūji Temple in Nara.
2. Shingon Sect: Adopts a square mandala, as seen in the one preserved at Kumedadera Temple in Osaka.
Purpose and Ritual Use:
The Hokuto Mandala serves as a focal point for rituals aimed at averting disasters and ensuring harmony with cosmic forces. Practitioners engage in meditation, chanting, and offerings to invoke blessings and protection.
Conclusion:
In summary, the Hokuto Mandala is a profound symbol of cosmic harmony and protection in Japanese Buddhism. Its intricate symbolism, central deity, and ritual significance make it a vital tool for practitioners seeking spiritual alignment and safeguarding against adversity.

My 2023 in Music
2023 was definitely the year of music for me! I lost count, but I went to over 30 different live events this year! From small promo events at shopping malls to a stadium tour, I’ve basically seen it all. I’ve decided to make a list of some of my favorite performances, mostly for me to be able to look back on this year fondly. I hope 2024 will be just as exciting!
BEYONCÉ
1/1 - RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR
MetLife Stadium, New Jersey (July 29)
Tumblr media
I’ll never forget seeing Beyoncé for the first time all the way back in November 2008 on The Today Show. She has really changed a lot since then (she hardly ever performs “Single Ladies” anymore), but when she hit the stage at MetLife Stadium singing her solo debut “Dangerously in Love,” it was like I was brought back to that time. Beyoncé has said that she has nothing to prove to anyone at this point. I’ve heard people complain when she performs the same songs over and over again, but they just don’t appreciate the crowd going apeshit when she yells “1, 2, 3, 4!” and the horns from “Crazy in Love” start playing. It’s incredible! RENAISSANCE is not my favorite album of Beyoncé’s (even though “CUFF IT” has been my most played song two years in a row), but this tour was so much more than that. I didn’t go all out on my outfit like a lot of the fans there, but I’m glad I could walk around with my friends wearing tiny cowboy hats (we even made it into an online newspaper!). My only complaint was that New Jersey sucked at the mute challenge… but Japan was made for this. We will reign supreme when the film drops in theaters here later this month.
Tumblr media
Taken at The Today Show, Rockefeller Center, New York (November 26, 2008)
SARD UNDERGROUND
1/2 - 6th Single "Dog Actor Song" Release Event
MALera Gifu, Gifu (September 3)
2/2 - LIVE TOUR 2023 “hold me, my friend”
Zepp Haneda, Tokyo (September 18)
Tumblr media
Taken at MALera Gifu, Gifu (September 3)
Unlike the other artists I support, I don’t get to see SARD UNDERGROUND that much. They have a tour every year then occasionally hold release events at music stores across Japan. They do other shows too, but they are usually lottery based and I lose every time. However, I was able to go to their release event in Gifu. They had a small meet and greet at the end and we had to draw a random number to determine our place in line. I was number three, and since the first two people weren’t there when we started, I got to meet them first. It was so embarrassing, but they seemed genuinely happy to see me, saying “long time no see” and complimenting my Japanese. I saw them again a few weeks later on their tour. With COVID restrictions finally lifted, I was able to sing my heart out to some of ZARD’s classic hits, including my favorite song “Today is another day,” which they performed for the first time during the encore. I sometimes forget how important ZARD’s music is to me, and since I only get to see SARD UNDERGROUND every so often, they leave a really powerful impression on me every time.
YUI NISHIO
I saw Yui Nishio 15 times this year, but these performances stuck out to me the most.
3/15 - SOCIAL TOWER MARKET “Music and Coffee”
Blossa, Nagoya (May 20)
Tumblr media
I couldn’t have asked for more at SOCIAL TOWER MARKET — the weather was amazing, Yui Nishio was playing in front of the crowd like a regular street performer (even asking us to google her lyrics when she forgot some words), she signed my favorite cap, and we took a picture so cute I’ve been trying to take a similar one ever since. This was the first time we actually had a conversation, and it’s crazy to think that now she knows me so well even her parents recognize me.
10/15 - FM802 MINAMI WHEEL 2023 25th ANNIVERSARY
FootRock&BEERS, Osaka (October 9)
Tumblr media
MINAMI WHEEL was also really fun. Yui Nishio usually performs solo, but for big events like these and her tours, she brings out a full band and it’s incredible to watch. I saw her for the first time at last year’s MINAMI WHEEL and it was the energy I sensed from her and the band (and her amazing merch) that made me a fan. She truly is a performer! I hadn’t seen her in over two months, so it was really sweet when we reunited on the street while she was handing out fliers before the show. After the show, I gave her a beer glass I bought in New York that says “#BeerIsLove.” If you check out her beer account on Instagram (@ynobeer), you can sometimes see her using it!
11/15- TAMARIBA 2023 ~Tamagawa Riverside Festival~
Izumi-Tamagawa Riverbed, Tokyo (November 4)
Tumblr media
TAMARIBA was another performance that had a lot of the things I love about seeing Yui Nishio live. She performs a lot outdoors, and even in November, it was a beautiful day, perfect for us to toast with a beer together! She was joined by a pianist, so even though I had seen her so many times already this year, each song had an awesome new arrangement that made me happy I came to Tokyo a day earlier than planned. I was in town for the Sonic Official Fan Meeting, but often times she happens to be performing somewhere close by so I’m able to take a quick detour to see her. Another reason this performance stuck out to me was because it reminded of the time I saw her in Hokkaido at another outdoor event called FEELDGOOD FES. I’ll go into more detail about that trip later when I write about YU-KA, but for now, I’ll just say that whenever I can reminisce on that weekend, I know it’s gonna be a great time.
15/15 - Acoustic Tour “COZY and TASTY”
sunset BLUE, Nagoya (December 8)
Tumblr media
Her acoustic tour was my last concert of the year, and what a way to go out! It was here in Nagoya, so not only was I “at home,” so was she! The concert was shorter than her other tours, but she performed some really cool arrangements of some of my favorite songs, including "Chinese Restaurant," which I had never actually seen performed before. After the show, we took our usual photo and she thanked me for coming to so many of her performances this year. Before we said our good-byes, a few other fans and I took one last photo together as “citizens” with the “mayor” of “tasty city.”
YU-KA
Apologies in advance if this section gets a little confusing. It’s hard to write about YU-KA and not mention all the other great artists (including Yui Nishio) that I was introduced to because of her.
6/19 - HUG ROCK FESTIVAL 2023 GW
Shibuya Star lounge, Tokyo (May 2)
I can’t believe I saw YU-KA 19 times this year. Golden Week was especially crazy; I saw her three times in four days! HUG ROCK FESTIVAL was the first event, and it was definitely the highlight of the week for me because I met her for the first time there! I saw her outside handing out fliers and she instantly recognized me as the person who comes to a lot of her shows. We talked a bit and she seemed so appreciative of me that she asked to shake my hand.
1st TOUR 2023 “Alone Together”
9/19 - Minami Horie knave, Osaka (May 28)
11/19 - SPADE BOX, Nagoya (June 11)

YU-KA has performed in a lot of small places. She usually does solo or duo sets, so when she announced that her tour would feature a live band I was so excited! I went to the Osaka and Nagoya shows, and I was lucky enough to be in the front row both times. Nagoya takes a lot of shit for being the “most boring city in Japan,” but every time YU-KA comes here you can feel the energy from the crowd that is just not present in other cities. All the people commenting "yabai" during her live stream perfectly described that concert. TBH, I think my hollering the whole time might have had something to do with it. I’d really like to take a picture with YU-KA one day, but for now, I’ll settle for the selfie she posed for during the video that perfectly aligned so that I could be in the shot with her.

When Yui Nishio announced that she was going to Hokkaido, I knew it would be crazy even for me to follow her there, but then a friend of mine told me YU-KA would also be there on the same weekend. It was never mentioned on social media, so I almost missed it, but that didn’t stop me from planning a last minute trip to Hokkaido just four days before departure! It felt like a sign, and I knew I would regret it if I didn’t go. Yui Nishio’s performance was great. It seemed like no one really knew who she was there, so everyone (including her) glanced amusingly at me a few times as I stanned out to “Drink, Pray, Love!” It was my seventh time seeing her this year, so of course I had all the synchronized hand claps down pat!

YU-KA performed the next day at a shopping mall, and I was so happy I went because she did some acoustic versions of her songs for the first time. She messed up the first time she tried singing her latest single “Swimmy” and had to start over, and that little mistake and the small crowd reminded me of the second time I saw her perform last year when she was still a relatively unknown artist. It was similarly at a shopping mall to promote her first single. I didn’t know at that time that I’d become such a huge fan, and I love that I can still be just as thrilled to see her perform some of those same songs over a dozen shows later. After that short weekend trip, Hokkaido found a special place in my heart. I can’t wait to go back… until then I’ll keep drinking Sapporo beer.

16/19 - Touya Day ~2023~ with KOBAYASHI TOUYA

YU-KA never comes out after her performances to greet fans, but for some reason she did at MINAMI WHEEL. I told her that I’d be going to her show in Tokyo the next day, and I could tell even she thought I was crazy for that. I went from Nagoya to Osaka to Tokyo to Osaka and back to Nagoya that weekend; I still can’t believe it… but I couldn’t miss seeing her perform with one of her friends, Kobayashi Touya! I’ve seen him perform three times this year. I don’t remember exactly what he said the first time I saw him last year, but it was something like, “it doesn’t matter if this is your first time seeing me or you’ve been to many of my shows, let’s all enjoy this moment together.” Similarly to how when I saw Yui Nishio for the first time, I could tell he was born to be a performer. Touya Day was a really amazing show, the highlight being KEISUKE and YU-KA joining Touya during the encore to perform his song "Lens." I came back to Yoyogi Park to see Yui Nishio perform earlier this month just hours before I went to Touya’s one-man LIVE "Re:Start" at Hulic Hall Tokyo, and I love that that little event space has become a really special place to me. His concert was also really great, and I’m glad I got to share the Thanksgiving photo of me and my friends with him and his fans.

I summed up my experiences on this tour nicely in some Instagram posts back in October and November, mostly about how I was happy to be up front in Osaka and see YU-KA perform “AM:PM” with special guest NOTD in Tokyo. However, I didn’t talk about how exhausted I was in Nagoya. It was the night of many Halloween parties, and I never stayed in one place for too long. Truthfully, the concert and that weekend as a whole are a bit of a blur to me. It helped me realize that sometimes I need to take a break and stop thinking about the next show. I went to back to back events in Nagoya and Tokyo just a few weeks later, so I’m still trying to accept the fact that it’s okay to sit some things out. There will always be another show…

…but also OMG, YU-KA talked about me on the radio and laughed her ass off on air when her staff told her they saw me dressed as Sonic a dinosaur on the subway.

For anyone that has made it this far, I want to end with a little PSA. I love going to concerts, and I was absolutely crushed when I realized that it was affecting my ears. The first couple of weeks were brutal — I was dizzy all the time, I felt like my ears were clogged, and I could hear them ringing constantly. I’ve gotten better, but unfortunately some things seem irreversible. I still have trouble hearing people sometimes, and my ears are ringing as I’m typing this. If you love music as much as I do, please do yourself a favor and buy some ear plugs. The Loop Experience ones have changed my life! Once you get used to wearing them, you will understand how loud concerts are the second you take them out. They are even great for when that certain someone’s turn comes up at karaoke.

Day 5 in Osaka started by getting up before the cicadas at 6:30 am to get ready for our big universal day. We kind of splurged and bought some fast passes for the rides with long waiting time so we were so excited. We took the JR loop line to get there but got lucky and caught the express one that went right to Universal Studios. We got to the park 30 minutes before it officially opens but it had been open for an hour before that! Our first ride we went on was the minions ride. We were in our own little pod and went through Gru’s house from the Despicable Me movies. Other rides we went on chronologically was the Flying Dinosaur, Hollywood Backdrop, Jujutsu Kaisen 4-D show, Flight of the Hippogriff, and others! My favourite one was the Hollywood Backdrop because I got pick the music I listened too while riding the roller coaster. Out of 5 options I picked the song Kaikai Kitan by Eve which is the theme song from the anime Jujutsu Kaisen. There were lots of Jujutsu Kaisen themed stuff and I even got the Jujutsu Kaisen Gojo popcorn bucket filled with caramel popcorn. Harry Potter world was also very cool! Diagon Ally looked really good and we got a frozen butter beer there too! The most unique thing in the park was definitely Super Mario land. To get into the land we went through the iconic green Mario pipeline and was “transported” to the world of Super Mario. Everything was decorated as Mario. The scenery, staff, floors, walls, and everything was all Mario. It was crazy how everything looked. In Super Mario World we went on Yoshi’s adventure that took us on a tour of Super Mario World. The other ride in Super Mario World was even crazier. It was an AR (augmented reality) version of Mario Cart. It was an interactive ride where we have a steering wheel with triggers and we can throw shells and ‘steer’ our vehicle. It was a really cool concept and it looked really good too! Then we ending our day with one last ride going on the VR (virtual reality) Doraemon ride. It was fully digital and it was a fun adventure that was pretty long. Overall Universal was a fun, exciting but tiring day.

Honkai Star Rail global tea event doesn’t include UK
Tumblr media
Cosmic Refreshment Supply, a brand-new Honkai Star Rail event, is presented as a worldwide tea event that rewards players with in-game stuff once they buy beverages at participating shops. The anime game's event features several tea chains from around the world, but the absence of any UK stores is a little amusing given the region's renown for tea in the West.Fans of Honkai Star Rail will, however, be able to purchase Cosmic Refreshment Supply in a few other European nations. While some fans found it funny, others weren’t happy with the UK omission, which prompted an apology just two hours after the event’s announcement that guaranteed “exciting events on the horizon.” With that said, those who can obtain the offered in-game items will need to visit a participating store and buy a collaboration drink. Purchasing a drink will not only earn you in-game items, but actual physical merchandise as well. The merch is limited, so you’ll need to visit those collab stores quickly if previous HoYoverse collabs are any indication of potential popularity. A Genshin Impact Pizza Hut event was shut down just last year for being too popular. Honkai Star Rail may not be as big, but I wouldn’t take any chances. Here’s the full list of participating stores for the global tea event, as stated by the official Honkai Star Rail Twitter account: - United States: Sunright Tea Studio - South Korea: MAURITIUS BROWN - Japan: cafe on wheels at Tokyo and Osaka - France: SHODAI MATCHA - Germany: Comebuy - Argentina: Hero Anime Cafe - Philippines: Happy Lemon - Vietnam: Gong Cha Việt Nam - Thailand: BEARHOUSE - Malaysia: KOI - Singapore: CHAGEE - Indonesia: RAMU NOSTALGIA Honkai Star Rail version 1.2 is on its way soon, so be sure to pull for Luocha or Yukong if you still need an Imaginary character before Blade and Kafka show up. You can check out our Honkai Star Rail tier list to see which characters best fit your teams, and remember to redeem the Stellar Jade codes to help with those warps. Read the full article

June 20th- Osaka Day Trip
It’s the end of an era. I wanna be Nico soooo bad, so I might be getting a little sad in this blog post. I’m not ready for this trip to be over. I’m excited to go home and see my friends, but I think that the adjustment will be very difficult. I’m going to miss the pure joy I feel when I see a trash can, the absolute rush I feel when I see paper towels in the bathroom, and the full surge of adrenaline when trying to find 100 yen coins in my coin purse. But in all seriousness, I’m going to miss my friends. I really like these people, and it’s going to suck going back home, saying something dumb like “what is blue waffling about”, and then have to explain why it’s funny to me. This is my written statement that, if I see anyone from this trip at a bar, I’ll buy them a drink. In memory of Kitsune. Japan really is a once-in-a-lifetime trip, and I have to keep telling myself that, because I’m learning Japanese, I have to come back. Yeah everyone says that studying abroad changes their life whatever, but I kinda sorta get it now. I know that I need to live in Japan someday. Anyway, I’m kinda sad. Here’s what I did in Osaka today:
I woke up and skipped breakfast for old-times sake. I really needed that stability in my life because we are leaving so soon. Apparently today was the day that Sam emailed her Fukata photos to herself on the train?? I guess I mixed up the days even though that isn’t possible because I always do my blog posts on time and I am a great student. Anyway, she promised to buy me a treat, and I have yet to have gotten a treat. Once we got to Osaka, we broke for lunch. I had chicken katsu with Nico, Raj, Aulora, Visnu, Sam, and Xander, and it was absolutely amazing. We met back up and walked to Osaka castle. I’m glad we didn’t have to climb it, but Professor did say there was an elevator, so I would’ve been ok. Next we took the train to American Village, which was just Tokyo with more vintage shops. Professor led us to some cool stops, including the famous Glico advertisement. Shortly after the tour around the Village, we were dismissed for the day. There was a lot of big talk about going out, bar hopping, and taking the 5am train back to Kyoto. I very excited since it was our last full night all together! Me, Chelsea, and Casey went to a bunch of thrift stores, and we were intermittently joined by Nico, Raj, and Aulora. I got a super cute top and my new favorite pair of overalls. We decided to go to the Osaka Team Labs too to see the botanical garden. It was a little better than mid only because I got to push these huge eggs around, and I knocked down a couple of Japanese girls. That was fun for me. The whole area was pretty cool though, and afterwards, Chelsea and Casey RAN to a dinner place. I had already eaten, and when I checked my phone, there were not many trains left back to Kyoto. At this point, we all decided that a drunk UNO night was more our speed. I got a little nervous because of all the train delays, so Sebastian, Nico, and I decided to split off and go home. We listened to some Twenty One Pilots as we walked to the station which was nice. Once we were home, I decided that I was going to rest my eyes, but then I woke up 7 hours later, so no drunk UNO. I was relieved to hear that everyone did the same.
Anyways, I’m gonna miss this. Konbanwa.
Academic Reflection-
I had zero knowledge of Osaka’s urban planning prior to this reading. That was Vishnu’s area of expertise, so I let him take the wheel for most of the trip. If I’m being honest, I though Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, and Kobe were basically the same place prior to our excursions, and I was also under the impression that Hiroshima wasn’t too far either. I was proven wrong by my 2 hour Shinkansen ride. I will admit that Osaka was very unique, and there were times that I could’ve mistaken it for Times Square. Seeing someone dressed up as Spiderman taking pictures and people busking, I was convinced we were in the wrong place. Especially since Kyoto is just one rice field and doesn’t have electricity.
The high-rise building through my off-guard too. As we walked, there were malls, luxury stores, businesses, and arcades with over 20 floors! This was surprised because, even in Tokyo, the buildings were relatively short. I was super surprised by how American-ized it had become. We also saw a kabuki theatre (AHHHHH) that could’ve been pulled from France.

The Roulette of Destiny part 11
Peaceful days come to Osaka and Ran appreciates them. Yet, she starts to miss having Shinichi's full attention, so would it be a good time to continue their journey? Or is Shinichi ready to go to back Tokyo?
A/N: I have to admit, I'm not very confident with this chapter. There are many things that part of me would have wanted to change, but I couldn't figure out how. I can say that when I wrote this, I was kind of tired to do too deep investigations, and part of me was ready to move on with the story, which is the reason why I'm kind of scared that this chapter isn't more than rushing things xD But maybe I shouldn't be the one who judges my own fic...
Well, I hope you enjoy this chapter!
Chapter 1 ~ Chapter 2 ~ Chapter 3 ~ Chapter 4 ~ Chapter 5 ~ Chapter 6 ~ Chapter 7 ~ Chapter 8 ~ Chapter 9 ~ Chapter 10
Chapter 11
A few days went fast in Osaka. Ran enjoyed that time with her new friends. Day after the shopping mall incident they spend their day mostly at Heiji’s and Kazuha’s apartment, watching movies and playing some board games together, and mostly making sure that Ran’s ankle got enough rest. She also took her new phone on the use. Luckily her old photos were safe on the memory card, so her loss wasn’t big. Though she had to admit, all the photos she took with a new phone to memorize their time together, were looking so much more beautiful and precise. One of the group photos she sent to Sonoko with a message that everything was fine, she was fine, and she would call her later.
She got a fast answer: Wait?! Is your stranger Kudo Shinichi?! The Kudo Shinichi? That private detective from Tokyo?
Ran rolled her eyes. Oh yeah, there would be so much to explain.
On the fourth day Ran’s ankle was better, so she demanded that they would go somewhere. They took a slow tour of the Tempozan Harbor Village, went to the marketplace to see different shops and restaurants, took a lap in Ferris wheel, and took a sightseeing cruise with a Santa Maria. On the fifth day, they went to the Tennojii Zoo, which was nice and calm compared to the city tour that they had done at that point mostly. And seeing all those animals made Ran only excited since it wasn’t every day to see the African savanna’s environment.
Yet, on the sixth day, she was pretty sure that she wanted to continue her journey. Their journey. It wasn’t like she didn’t enjoy Osaka’s sightseeing or loved to spend time with Kazuha and Heiji, but she missed spending time with Shinichi, and only with him. She didn’t have a chance to be only with him since every time they were together, Heiji or Kazuha showed up. She really loved her new friends, but she really missed the time when there were only two of them. She missed his attention.
So, on the sixth day, when Shinichi went to the balcony talking on the phone after lunch, Ran decided that it would be her chance. As soon as she saw him put down the phone, she stood up and apologised for leaving before going to the balcony. She really hoped that Heiji and Kazuha wouldn’t follow her.
“Who was that?” Ran asked while shut the door behind her. After that, she realised that it wasn’t her concern who he was talking to.
“Just some work”, he said, showing her a little smile before looking at the view from the balcony. Part of Ran waited to hear more about it, but when he didn't continue, she went beside him and leaned to the railing. She opened her mouth but shut it. She didn’t know how to bring up her issue.
“What’s on your mind?”
Ran didn’t look at him. “I… I was thinking if we should continue our journey”, she said. Part of her felt a little guilty even though she was sure that there was no reason. They have been in Osaka almost a week, and probably, sooner or later Kazuha and Heiji would like to be alone. And in the end, even though she had sent their – her – wedding plans to her mother, it didn’t mean that she could stay on the road too long.
“Fine by me”, he answered. From the corner of her eyes, she saw how he looked at her. “Is there some particular place where you want to go?”
Ran couldn’t stop the smile coming to her lips. There was one place where she had wanted to travel some time now, thanks to Sonoko, who once told about her family trip there and how nice and romantic city that was. Of course, Ran kind of had forgotten it, but now that they were in Osaka and since it wasn’t far from here…
“Well”, Ran began, trying to act like it wasn’t a big deal at all, “I have heard a lot about Kyoto…”
She heard him smiling shortly. She looked at him. He was looking at the city. “Well then, Kyoto it is.”
And Ran had to use all her willpower not to scream with happiness and jump onto his neck. She really needs to plan their agenda, and maybe Kazuha also had some good tips and places to visit…
On the next morning, they left farewells to their Osaka friends and continues their journey. Even though Ran was happy that there would be again only two of them, she still started to miss her new friends. She felt kind of sad, but she tried to remind herself that this was only temporary goodbyes, and since Kazuha gave her phone number, Ran could always contact her. And in the end, who knew if she would get a new chance to visit in Osaka later, or maybe, if those two comes to visit in Tokyo, she could join them.
The journey wasn’t long and soon they were in Kyoto, and as soon as they got to their luggage in the hotel room, Ran wanted to go to explore the city. It was mostly walking around sightseeing until Ran started to feel hungry and kind of decided that they should go to a picnic in Kyoto Botanical Garden. Well, Shinichi didn’t complain about it, but to Ran, he didn’t seem to be a big fan of it either. It was still a nice and calm place after Osaka’s busy streets and Ran thought it was beautiful and romantic in there. So many lovers around them, walking hand in hand, taking cute couple photos, and whatnot. Ran kind of hoped that one day she could do that too.
That night Ran felt a little lonely even though she shared the room with Shinichi. He answered her babblings and all, but still, somehow Ran felt lonely, like he wasn’t with her. Maybe he was just tired. And in the end, she would have good plans for tomorrow, so maybe it would brighten his mood.
The next day they made their way into the Kiyomizu temple. Of course, the building had its own history and was gorgeous, one of those “must visit when you’re in the city” but Ran mostly had her own reason to get there: She really wanted to see and try to get luck for her love life.
“Do you really believe something like that?” Shinichi asked with a mocking smile after Ran had explained to him the idea of the two rocks which were apart from each other. It was said that if you are able to walk from one stone to another with closed eyes, you will have good love luck.
“I do”, Ran answered. “And since my marriage is arranged, I believe I need all the luck I can have just to get a good man to myself.”
“I’m not sure if it works that way”, he said.
“It doesn’t kill to try”, she replied. Then she saw those rocks in front of the Jishu shrine. “There!” she shouted and ran closer. She looked around and was pretty happy that there weren’t many people around. Well, in the end, the early wake-up and coming here as soon as they were ready was also part of her plan. Now there was a good chance to get this done!
“I can’t believe this”, she heard Shinichi complaining. “Is THIS the reason why we needed to wake up so early?”
Ran made her way to the other stone and stood beside it. “Yes”, she answered with confidence. “And I’m going to do this as many times as I need to.”
“But isn’t it losing its idea if you just tried again and again?”
Ran glanced at him angrily. “I didn’t ask your opinion, Mr. pessimist.”
Shinichi shrugged. Ran turned her glance back to the other rock, trying to memorise its location before she took a deep breath and closed her eyes.
“Don’t cheat.”
Ran wanted to roll her eyes. “Don’t disturb me!”
And she did it. She walked all the way to the other stone and didn’t even have any problem with that. She looked at the stone happily before she raised her gaze to find Shinichi, who just stood there both his hands on his pockets and looked at her bored.
“Come on, Shinichi, why don’t you try too?” she asked with a smile when she went to him and gripped his arm. “You probably need that luck too.”
His facial expression was non-readable. He looked at the stones before he moved, making Ran lose her grip. “I don’t believe these kinds of things”, he answered.
Ran pouted and felt bad. It wouldn’t hurt him to get himself even a little luck. “Well, it wouldn’t hurt to try”, she answered, but since Shinichi didn’t change his mind, she went after him.
They spent a few hours in Kiyomizu temple, touring it and reading and hearing about its history and story over the years. Ran’s other plan was to get on the Otowa Waterfall. There were three streams which were believed that they gave different things when drinking the water: One would grant longevity, the other one offers success at studies and the third one gives good luck in love. And she knew exactly which one she wanted to choose. She filled her cup with the water which promised good fortune with love and drank it.
“Your turn”, she said and turned towards him.
Shinichi didn’t seem to be impressed.
“Come on, you need this too”, she said, grabbed his arm, and dragged him closer.
“I don’t”, he answered.
“Yes, you do”, she insisted and gave him the cup. “Please, Shinichi. Please?”
He sighed. “I don’t understand why you are so bothered about my love life fortune”, he mumbled while filling his cup.
“Because I think you deserve all the good luck with that arranged marriage”, she answered. He glanced at her before looking at the cup and the water. After a moment of hesitation, he drank it. It made Ran happy.
After the tour of the temple, they went to the aquarium. Shinichi wasn’t so willing to go, since they could go to the aquarium in Tokyo too, but to Ran, it wasn’t the same, and after a little argument, he gave up. But as amazing and romantic as that place was, Ran couldn’t enjoy it since Shinichi was pouting. Ran started to feel bad that she had insisted.
She tried to make it up to him, ask him if he wanted to go somewhere. He didn’t. That night at the hotel room she apologised to him for being so stubborn. He said that there was nothing to apologise for, and with a smile, he told her that he should be the one who should apologise. And still, even though they cleared the air between them, and everything should have been alright, there was still something hanging on. Shinichi was there, but to Ran, it felt like he was too far from her. As much as she tried to reach him, she couldn’t touch him.
Well, that was the feeling that had followed her from Osaka, after that shopping mall incident, but then Ran had thought that the reason was that she hadn’t had enough time to spend only with Shinichi. In the end, there were always Kazuha and Heiji, and of course, they wanted Shinichi’s attention too. She thought that the reason for the distance was that, and she really thought that after they would come to Kyoto, they would be closer to each other like before.
But that hadn’t happened. At least, not yet.
On the third day Ran fought for the bamboo forest and Kifune shrine, since she really, REALLY wanted to visit them. Shinichi was against both of them since public transport took from an hour to two on one way and they haven’t even talked about how long it would take them to take the tour in those places, but since Ran pointed out that they didn’t have any other plans for the day, he accepted. Well, actually he promised that they would take a taxi so those trips would take too long.
Arashiyama Bamboo Forest was a beautiful place. It took three hours to walk around it, admire the view and monkeys. Even though Ran had seen pictures about the place, being there was a totally different thing.
Kifune shrine was their other destination, and of course…
“Path of Love”, Shinichi repeated and looked at the stairs in front of them. “Really?! All the places in Kyoto and I needed to come all the way here just to see and experience the Path of Love?!”
“Why are you so cynical?” Ran asked while she took a photo of the stairs. She smiled and looked at Shinichi. “I think we need all the luck when it comes to love life.”
Shinichi rolled his eyes but didn't answer. They walked the Path of Love and paid respect to the God of Water.
That evening Ran was tired, but happy. Well, almost happy. She had had so much fun, saw all the things that she had wanted, and got a chance to get all the luck for love that she could. Maybe gods will let her have a good husband and much love. That’s all she would ever ask.
But there was still a problem with Shinichi. As much as Ran had hoped that a good night's sleep and a nice day walking in the calm and peaceful places would make him in a better mood, it didn’t. For Ran, it almost felt like it made everything even worse. Day by day he was less excited and happy to be there with her. Day by day he was more quietly and cynical.
Day by day it felt like he was closing himself away from Ran, and she hated it.
She knew that she should bring it up. She knew that it would end up badly, but since he didn’t want to tell her what was bothering him, she didn’t have many choices. In the end, they were in this together, and…
What if he didn’t like her anymore? The thought of that was terrifying, but somehow also very potential. What if he had enough of her, but didn’t dare to say it? Well, she knew that Shinichi wasn't very good at telling about his emotional feelings, but if he would have gotten tired of her, he would have said it, right? He had all the rights to tell her that he wanted to go back to Tokyo. But then again, he agreed to come to Kyoto. If he would have gotten tired of her, why would he bother to spend any more money on her? Why haven’t they gone back to Tokyo already?
Or maybe he didn’t like Kyoto. Maybe he didn’t like romantic things like Ran did? In the end, he hadn’t suggested any places where they should visit. All those had been Ran’s ideas. Oh well, he had been against today’s destinations, but Ran thought that the reason was the distance, not the places themselves. But then again, if he didn’t like those, maybe he could have said something?
Well, whatever the reason was, Ran knew that she needed to bring it up. And she did it, as soon as they got back to their hotel room.
“What’s wrong, Shinichi?”
“Hmm?” he asked. It took for a moment before he understood her question. “Oh, nothing.”
“Nothing?” Ran repeated and put her bag on her bed. “It’s hard to believe.”
“Long day”, he answered shortly. It seemed that it was the answer when he didn’t want to share his worries with her. “In the end, we walked so much. Maybe tomorrow we should do something more relaxing?”
Ran just stared at how he took off his jacket and throw it on the back of the sofa. Then he stretched.
“You’re not enjoying Kyoto.”
He froze for a moment before he turned to her. “What?”
“You’re not enjoying Kyoto”, Ran repeated and tilted her head a little. She frowned. “You are somehow distant.”
He stared at her, and Ran couldn’t read anything from his face. But yet, Ran was sure. Something was tearing them apart silently, and Ran didn’t know what. But she really wanted to find out. He was her friend, and Ran didn’t want him to be alone with his troubling thoughts. If she only could take his burden…
Ran waited for an answer but didn’t get it. Instead, he turned his back to her and walked to look out from the window. She looked at his back and felt sadness. She had really thought that Kyoto would be a perfect place for them. It was nice and beautiful, full of romantic places, and…
Oh, but maybe that was the reason? Maybe all those romantic places reminded him about the marriage and his worries about it. In the end, he was the one who told her in Shizuoka that maybe he would never hear the words “I love you” with meaning. Maybe seeing all those couples in those romantic places reminded him of that.
It made Ran feel terrible, and she looked away. Why hadn’t she thought of that earlier? Well, maybe it would be a good time to leave Kyoto behind. At this point Ran had seen those places that she wanted, so she could suggest to Shinichi that they should leave, and he could think of the next place. Maybe it would cheer him up.
She took a little smile on her lips and went closer to him. “We can leave if you don’t like to be here”, she said gently and raised her hand to stroke his back. He startled a little, but Ran didn’t stop. Maybe he was too deep into his thoughts? “We can go wherever you want. I mean, in the end, Kyoto was mostly my decision and I planned almost all those places without asking you beforehand, so I think it’s only fair.” Then she let out a laugh. “Actually, I shouldn’t even be the one who suggests this. You are the one who pays for this trip, so…”
She waited, but he didn’t answer. He didn’t even laugh. He just stared outside. It made Ran only uneasy. Why he was like that? Why did he keep her waiting like this? Ran knew that he wasn’t good for sharing his worries or feelings, but she really hoped that he would. Because this meant that she should pull the answer out of him, and part of her didn’t like it. But he didn’t give her many choices here.
“Shinichi?”
“We should go back home.”
Ran felt how her heart sink. It shouldn't have been surprising, and yet, it somehow made Ran's whole world turn around. Hearing that was only a matter of time, but...
She just stared at him before she got out her first reasonable thought: “What?”
His facial expression changed more determined. “We should head back home”, he said without meeting her gaze.
“Why?” she asked. “I know we didn’t talk about continuing our journey, but still, I thought…”
“It’s better to go back home”, he interrupted her. “Time is running out and didn’t you say that there is so much to do? So, you should go to prepare.”
Ran forced out a laugh. “I planned my wedding things pretty well with Kazuha-chan”, she answered.
“They maybe have to fix your dress, it can take time…”
“What’s wrong, Shinichi?” she interrupted him. “Wasn’t it you who said at the beginning of our journey that everything would be fine if I just send them some of the dresses that I’m interested in and my exact sizes? We also planned my hairstyle, flowers, and whatnot just that I could spend more time with them, with…” She shook her head. “Why this change? Why are you so worried about my wedding out of a sudden?”
“It’s better that way”, he said still avoiding her eyes.
“I don’t want to go home yet”, she answered stubbornly.
“Well, I want.”
“Give me an explanation, Shinichi”, Ran demanded. “Give it to me and I accept it.”
At least he turned to her. He looked angry and annoyed. “Why”, he asked. “I’m adult as much as you are. I have my own mind, my own thoughts. Isn’t it enough that I want?”
“No!” She felt so angry. “If you really want to go home, you would have brought this up earlier, not like this, not out of blue...”
“So what?” he shouted. “I can change my mind when I want to!”
“I don’t believe you!”
“Why not?”
“That’s not you!”
He laughed dryly. “Don’t tell me you know me.”
“Well, I believe I do!”
“What, we have known each other like two weeks, and you tell me you know me better than anyone? Maybe all this time I have just pretended to be someone else, and…”
“You haven’t”, Ran interrupted. Then she let out a frustrated scream. Why had it needed to be like this? “Why are you like that? Why can’t you just tell me what is bothering you?”
“Nothing bothers me”, Shinichi denied.
“Yes, something is”, Ran argued. “There is something you don’t want to share with me, and that’s the reason why you want to leave.”
“No, there’s not!”
“Is it your parents?” Ran tried. “Are they pressuring you?”
“No!”
“Your fiancée. Is she bothering you?”
“No, she isn’t!”
“Then, the whole marriage thing”, Ran screamed desperately. She didn’t have many options anymore. She didn't even know what to suggest next. “Is it bothering you?”
“Nothing has anything to do with that stupid marriage!” Shinichi shouted back.
Ran cried out. “Then what?!”
“Because I’m falling for you!”
It felt like a time had frozen around them. There had been a thin string that had been keeping all of this together, all of this hidden, and now, it had broken. Ran wanted to move, breathe and say something, but she couldn’t do that. Instead, she just stared at how Shinichi’s anger melted slowly away, changing for a moment shocked before there was an embarrassment and… and sadness. He turned away from her.
“Shinichi…”
“There, happy to have it?”
She knew… She knew she should say something because she also knew that silence wasn’t a good answer for something like that. Yet she couldn’t make any reasonable sentence in her brains. There wasn’t anything else than just his words, flying from the wall to the wall like an echo.
He was… falling for her…
It was so hard to breathe. It was like there weren’t enough oxygen…
She snapped out of it when she heard some movements.
“I’m going outside”, he said silently and without facing her, took his jacket, went to the hallway, and put on his shoes. Ran knew she should stop him somehow, and she tried to say his name, yet any sounds didn’t come out. She tried to move, raise her arm, go after him, grab on his t-shirt and stop him, but before she did, the door slammed, and he was disappeared.
He was gone…

Summary: Being with Miya Atsumu is like chasing a storm - equal parts exhilaration and danger. After all, it’s impossible to tame a storm.

Playing volleyball in Milan is everything Atsumu dreamed of and more - the lights are brighter, the crowds are bigger, there are no distractions, no nagging to ignore, no pending errands to run - nothing to detract from the rush of exhilaration when he executes yet another perfect set. His teammates introduce him to the joy of soaking in the sunset over aperitivo by the Navigli canals, and he develops a liking for cheese and cured meat -  prosciutto, salami, bresola, sending pictures of the street markets to Osamu even though he receives no reply.
But it’s not long before the novelty of living alone in a foreign land fades. He’s never been particularly good with languages, so he’s unable to get across the language barrier preventing him from socialising outside of his teammates. So Atsumu finds himself falling back into habits he learnt at home - buying take-out pizza on Friday nights from the pizzeria down the street, ordering extra because the pizza in Milan is thinner, crisper and infinitely less filling. There are no aquariums in Milan, no museums with dinosaur bones, so he measures his steps on cobblestone streets to the park every Sunday to sit on a bench too large for him alone, watching the birds and clouds in the sky.
He tells himself to be content with watching his baby grow through the frame of an eleven inch screen, recording every one of her babbled words and chuckles onto his phone until it runs out of space and has to call Suna for technical support. He becomes a regular at the post office, mailing packages of dolls and nutcrackers, chocolates from his favourite sweetshop and handmade baby dresses from wizened oba-chan he learns to air kiss on both cheeks.
‘Home, Oto-san?’ Shino asks during one of their calls. His voice breaks when he has to tell his baby ‘sorry, darlin’, not yet’. It’s the only time he opens up the webpage to check if he can book a flight back home.
He starts rushing to the locker room right after matches end to avoid seeing his teammates’ faces light up when their families congratulate them with kisses and warm embraces after every match. When his teammates ask about his family (he drives away the thought that they’re asking out of pity), he whips out his phone to show them his favourite picture of Shino, her little face screwed up in confusion when they loaded her back with the giant mochi for her first birthday- ‘such a trooper, didn’t even cry when she fell down’ he tells them proudly. He’s quick to swipe past any photos of her.
He doesn't need the memories, he really doesn’t.
Well - he might not  need  the memories, but it’s not as if they disappear. He wakes up to find himself on the other side of bed. ‘Sorry, darlin’ he mumbles sleepily (because he knows he tends to invade her space, and she’s likely to kick him bodily off the bed if he doesn’t apologise quickly enough) - before snapping awake with a thin sheen of cold sweat on his forehead remembering he’s five thousand, nine hundred and sixty miles from home.
Not that he’s counting. He really isn’t.
He’s ashamed to admit that he heads to the club that night to pick up someone - anyone to warm his bed, but he’s not sure if it’s the burn of alcohol or the flashing lights (or that prick of something in his chest - it can’t be his conscience, he’s pretty sure only Osamu has that) because his stomach churns whenever pigs with their painted faces and false smiles approach him, and soon gives up, returning to his apartment cold and alone. He’s pretty sure it’s the alcohol because he pukes his guts out in the morning and swears off from ever going to a club again.
Tumblr media
“MIYA !’
He only has time for a brief flash of shock between hearing his coach shout his name and feeling the impact of his teammate’s full weight against his shoulder that sends him sprawling across the floor. There’s a collective gasp from the crowd, but it’s not loud enough to drown out the sickening snap of bone ringing in his ears as he’s lying on the ground.
The sharp burst of pain stabbing his shoulder is enough for him to know what the doctors later confirm - a shattered collarbone. Complete rest for at least eight weeks is prescribed for a full recovery.
‘What were you thinking, Miya?’ his coach asks him exasperatedly when he’s discharged from the hospital.
‘I goofed’, he replies lamely. ‘Sorry, sir’.
It wouldn’t do to tell anyone that for a split second, he was distracted by the sight of a dark haired woman with bright eyes cheering at the top of the stands, a plump toddler balanced on her hip.
Tumblr media
It’s close enough to the end of the competition season that his coach figures it’d be better for him to just cut his stay in Milan short and return to Japan early to recover properly. So he lands in the Osaka airport amidst a haze of rain, arm tucked in a sling. The airport staff are kind enough to help him wheel his bags out to the arrivals gate where he’s surprised to find Osamu waiting with a bored expression on his face.
‘I thought ya weren’t talkin’ to me’, Atsumu says.
Osamu snorts, taking hold of his bags. ‘Mum made me come and get ya, since you're useless with that busted collarbone of yours.’ Then he turns on his heel and matter of factly adds as he walks off - ‘Besides, you’ll end up stayin’ with me anyway - it’s not like you have a home of yer own.’
Atsumu opens his mouth to retort but shuts it with a snap.
Tumblr media
‘You better hide in the kitchen if ya don’t have the guts to show yer ugly mug around her’, Osamu tells him at half past six in the evening, not even looking up from the tuna and spring onion onigiri he’s forming in his hands.
But Atsumu doesn’t. He tells himself it’s because he can’t bring himself to leave Shino’s side for a second more than he has to, not when he’s still drinking in the sight of her grown so, so big in the span of just a few months. The little girl had been confused at first, when both he and Osamu turned up at the childcare centre to pick her up, but after several minutes of coaxing her to recognise which one of them was Oto-san and Oji-san (the hair colour probably helped) and the bribe of a very elaborate doll (probably the main reason), she’d warmed up to him and refused to let go of his hand.
She pushes open the door to Onigiri Miya with a gentle smile on her face when Shino shrieks ‘Mama!’ at the top of her little lungs and rushes over to her, though it vanishes the instant she notices that it’s not Osamu playing with the little girl. He tries his best to ignore the stab of guilt in his chest when she takes an instinctive step back to yank Shino behind her legs.
‘You’re back’, she finally says, glancing at his arm resting in its sling.
‘Yeah…’ he responds, starting to sweat like he’s standing under the hottest stadium lights. ‘Ya look good’.
‘I know when you’re lying, Atsumu’, she sighs - and if he's being honest, she’s right. To the untrained eye, she looks perfectly put together, dressed in a pencil skirt and heels with her hair neatly tied back, but he knows her too well to be fooled. He can spot the pallor of her skin beneath her makeup, the droop of her shoulders, the downward tilt of her lips. But before he can formulate a response, she grabs Shino’s hand and turns to go, the little girl waving goodbye at him until they’re out of sight.
‘Wow. That was awkward.’ Osamu quips from over the counter. Atsumu can’t even find it in him to respond.
Tumblr media
Osamu makes him work at his store in between his sessions of physiotherapy. ‘To keep ya out of trouble’ he says, and Atsumu doesn’t really mind, it still leaves him plenty of time to pick up Shino from childcare every day, and it certainly gives him the excuse to hang around Onigiri Miya when she stops by in the evenings.
He tries to make conversation with her - ‘That’s a new dress you’re wearing’, but is always rebuffed - ‘I bought this old thing years ago’, to Osamu’s endless amusement. She’d always enter the store with a fond smile on her face for Osamu (it makes him want to puke), and would immediately drop it the moment she meets his eyes.
He tells himself it’s normal, she used to be cold and standoffish to him before they started dating, that she’d come around after a while. But even when he tries a different tack (perhaps compliments don’t work on her like they used to before), asking her ‘how’s yer day’, she shoots him a look of distrust that cuts right through his smile - ‘Just tell me what you want, Atsumu. You’ve never bothered asking me that before’.
Osamu actually roars with laughter at that. Traitor.
Tumblr media
‘Need help with that?’ Osamu comments after watching Atsumu struggle to reach the exercise tape on his back with his one good hand, stepping in after Atsumu gives a reluctant nod. But he immediately yelps in pain when Osamu decides to abandon all pretense of being gentle and yanks on the exercise tape viciously.
‘Just take off my skin while you're at it, why don't ya’ Atsumu whines. ‘It never used to hurt that much when  she  would help me after physiotherapy’.
‘She’s always been nicer to ya than ya deserve, fuckin’ scrub’. Osamu retorts, pulling at the remaining tape with increased vigour.
Atsumu bites his tongue through the pain, picking apart his brother’s words before replying - ‘Hey ‘Samu. She’s still really mad with me, isn’t she? D'you think she’ll ever forgive me?’
‘Have ya tried apologising to her, for starters?’
‘What?’ Atsumu asks, bewildered, before yelping - 'Wait - ouch!! What the hell that bloody hurt!?!?!'
‘You know - saying sorry? Owning up to your mistakes? Asking for forgiveness? You abandoned your wife and child for months - but I suppose that concept must be alien to you, shit stain.’
Osamu doesn’t give him a chance to respond, shaking his head as he walks away.
Tumblr media
His pride is an ugly, misshapen lump in his throat that's so inflamed it's almost impossible to be swallowed, but he does so anyway, asking her if they can speak for a short while in the alley behind the shop, away from Osamu’s eavesdropping ears. She furrows her brows at his request, but follows him out without complaint.
It’s only when she’s standing before him in the dimly lit alleyway, the dying light of the setting sun reflecting a halo above her head that it hits him like a blow to the back of his head that he’s a fuckin’ idiot - how did he manage to convince himself to blame her for trying to get in his way of chasing his dreams. This is what he missed when he was living alone in his cold studio apartment in Milan - being able to return after trainings and matches to a cosy flat overflowing with her cheeky banter and his baby’s laughter.
Gods, he wants his family. He wants to come home.
But before he can pour out the apology he’d been preparing with Osamu’s help, she interrupts him by slapping a brown envelope into his chest.
‘Look, I’m not sure what you have to say to me, but frankly, I’m not sure we have much to say to each other anymore,’ she tells him impatiently, as he opens the envelope, a tidal surge of dread overwhelming him.
‘What's this’, he says blankly, even though the title on the very first page of the stack of papers trembling in his hands sets it out clearly -  Rikon-Todoke. i.e. Divorce papers.
It spells out in clinical, cold words the terms of the proposed separation - dissolution of marriage by mutual consent, no request for alimony or compensation, legal custody to be granted to her with ample visitation rights for him. He would think it fair, if it were to apply to anyone but him.
‘But why?’ he rasps, chest burning from the knife that pierces him right through his heart.
She shifts forward, and the neon lights from the buildings surrounding them melding together to throw her face into sharp focus, her mouth curving upwards into something much harsher than a smile. It’s as if his departure acted as a whetstone, sharpening her edges, shaping her into a woman with hard eyes he can’t recognise.
‘You and both know it’s been a long time coming, hasn’t it Atsumu? You’ve made it quite clear that this marriage isn’t what you want out of life. In any case neither of us have really been happy even before you left, so we might as well be free from each other.’
At this, he shakes his head, parting his lips to object but she continues ruthlessly, her words slicing past his tissue thin excuses.
‘If anything, my time with you has taught me that it's impossible to stop the storm from destroying everything in its path. You can only try your best to outrun it, and  this' - ’ she stabs a finger at the stack of papers shaking in his hands -  ‘this is my attempt at outrunning you.’
It feels as if his world has somehow shifted, tilted upside down, turned inside out, his assumption that her taking him back would be an inevitable conclusion now disproven by the papers burning in his hands. He knows he’s hurt her beyond measure, but he never thought that his choice to chase what he thought were his dreams would leave him without the ground beneath his feet.
‘You don’t need to do anything else - just sign it and give it back to me soon. I think it’s better for all of us - you, me and Shino, if we divorce formally and lead our own separate lives’, he hears her say, turning to go.
Acting on instinct, his hand shoots out to grab her wrist and she flinches, the steel in her eyes crumbling to leave only frozen terror behind.
I could never hurt you, he wants to say, but doesn't - because he knows it's a lie.
Numbly, he releases his grip, letting his hand drop to his side.
He hears the door close behind him.
Tumblr media
Osamu finds him hours later, crouched on the back steps to the shop, papers clenched in his hands. He takes the papers from him and mouths to himself while scanning through it, but there is no spark of surprise in his eyes.
‘Did ya know she planned on divorcing me, ‘Samu?’, Atsumu asks, swiping his eyes with the back of his hand.
‘I had a pretty good guess it was coming’, Osamu replies heavily.
‘Fuck’, Atsumu groans, dropping his head between his legs.
Osamu prods his side with the tip of his shoe. ‘It’s not that I want to kick a guy when he’s down, but she's your wife, not a toy you can toss aside and come back to after a few months, shit for brains. And if I’m being honest, it looks like you’re acting like a brat who only wants his toy back when someone else picks it up’.
Osamu’s response lights a fire in his chest, and he whirls to his feet, grabbing his twin by the front of his apron growling - ‘Whose side are ya on anyway?!’
Osamu looks at him calmly, uncharacteristically refusing to take his bait. ‘Well, it's not as if ya don't deserve it. You walked out on her and Shino for almost a year, Atsumu. I’ve been the one cleaning up yer mess like I’ve been doing my whole life - I’ve been the one picking Shino up from childcare, I had to accompany yer wife to the hospital when yer kid was down with a high fever - d'you still have to ask whose side I’m on?’
‘D'you love her, ‘Samu?’ Atsumu asks after a pause.
The twins stare at each other.
‘I love her like a sister, you asshole. And I hate that it’s my own brother causing her pain.’ Osamu eventually says, pushing him away.
The door slams behind him again.
The dark clouds above him rumble ominously. It starts to pour.

“Name’s Kuroba Kaito! You know, champion of the Tokyo Regional Talent Show? They did say nationals was going to be held in Osaka, right?”
Kaito wheels a bright white suitcase behind him. If a certain detective of the east were here, they might have recognized it, but Kaito was banking on the fact that the little Tantei-kun wouldn’t be in Osaka for something as trivial as a talent show (how dare that little detective think that. Sure Kaito is putting thoughts in Tantei-kun’s head but still how dare) and the white suitcase was the only one he had that was big enough to carry all his props.
It was a nation-wide event that had just capped off the regional shows, including participants from schools all over the country. Kaito had of course won the Tokyo regional show and was proudly wearing his ribbon with first prize on it into the establishment holding the national event.
Kaito doesn’t go to Osaka often. Sure there was the memories egg thing that nearly got him shot in the face and had badly injured his poor Tama-chan, but other than that he usually didn’t head to the western part of the country.
Well, as long as there’s no finny things on display, Kaito should be able to enjoy himself as he wheels his suitcase behind him. Little did he know, even if Tantei-kun wasn’t going to be present, another nosy detective would be....

NCT 127's reaction to your kid misbehaving with you
Warnings: bratty kids, disrespect, smoking, weight conscious theme, a lil mention of blood, just spoiled kids idk I can't stand bratty and spoiled kids if my future kids ever misbehave with y'all let me know I'ma handle them
Requested by @glossiiipeach
Taeil
Taeil knows how to be a good parent, he's the oldest hyung of 22 other boys. Can't nobody tell him how to handle his kids because he's dealt with Haechan.
He wakes up in the middle of the night and stretches his hand out to hold you, he doesn't feel you there. Getting out of bed he goes to look for you but hears faint voices and follows the source. He's standing outside his 17 year old daughter Jiwoo's bedroom. He's about to knock on the door when he makes out what she's saying.
"mom didn't I just tell you that we're being careful? we're young and don't want a child of course. Why can't you understand that. Now give me back my pills and get out of my room"
"you're 17 Jiwoo. I'm worried about you. What if something goes wrong? And he's not the type to settle down. I don't want you to get hurt please"
"my God mom you're so annoying stop it please leave I'm getting angry"
Taeil can't believe what he's hearing and it's making him lose his mind. He enters Jiwoo's room making her and you shocked. He sees the pills in your hand and looks at Jiwoo. She's beyond embarrassed. Taeil tries his best to contain his anger, taking deep breaths. Nope he can't handle it.
"what's going on?" he asks, not actually wanting confirmation.
"Taeil honey, let me handle this" you say
"does she deserve your compassion y/n? She doesn't even know how to respect her mother, why should I go easy on her?"
Everyone goes silent.
"tell that man to come over tomorrow, I want to meet him. Let's hope he's got some manners because you clearly don't" he says to Jiwoo and leaves the room taking you with him.
Johnny
Johnny is a great partner and parent. He's like a friend to his 14 year old twin sons David and Jacob. They share everything with him, tell him their secrets, their relationship with you guys is built on trust so you guys are cool with each other. But that doesn't mean that they can do anything they're not allowed to do.
You're in the kitchen preparing dinner, Jocob helping you not only because he's closer with you but because he's a member of the family and he knows helping around the house won't make him any less of a man (yes I said equity) you guys taught your children well I'm so proud of you. Johnny comes home an hour early and sets the table (I love this family so much ugh) while Jacob brings the dishes. You go upstairs to wake David up since he said he'll be asleep. You softly knock on the door several times but he doesn't answer so you quietly open the door only to see that he's not in his room. Johnny comes upstairs too to change into comfortable clothes before dinner.
You see the bathroom door open to you wak over and just as you're about to call David's name you see him leaning against the shower wall, smoking a cigarette. In a state of anger and shock you stomp towards him and slapping it out of his hand.
"what is your fucking problem mom" David screams.
Did Johnny hear it right? Are his ears playing tricks on him or did he just hear 14 year old David not only just raise his voice at you but also use a curse word with you. He's there in an instant, face twisting with anger. Someone please save David from Johnny now.
He takes the cigarette from your hand and examines it before turning towards his son. "did you just curse at your mother?" Johnny is scary man. No one says anything.
"we'll talk about the cigarette later. I can't have my boys disrespecting my wife, under my roof. So why don't you repeat it for us, I want to hear it up close". He says.
"no I'm sorry, she scared me" David says quietly.
"oh that's not what I overheard" Johnny says, he won't let him get away with this.
Taeyong
You and him only have one child and have planned to have another when your first born is older. So naturally your 12 year old son Minho was loved and spoiled by everyone around him. He could get away with almost everything. Almost. And disrespecting anyone wasn't on the list of options. You don't let him indulge in technology a lot and send him to the playground instead. You and Taeyong don't realize it sooner that he's surrounding himself with older boys who teach him bad things just for the fun of it.
He comes home one day and straight up yells for you to make him his favorite chocolate shake. "mom make me my favorite drink right now".
You look at your mother-in-law who is visiting you for the weekend and excuse yourself. "Lee Minho where are your manners? Go meet your grandparents" you say glaring at him. He rolls his eyes in return.
"umm no I don't want to right now, and where's my chocolate shake".
"Minho what are you saying, what's wrong with you. I'm telling you to go and-"
"and I said I don't want to. I'll meet them when I want to meet them. Got it?" he says angrily.
Taeyong hears the commotion from his room and comes to see what's going on. He hears the last sentence Minho said and quickly comes closer to you two.
"what was that Minho?" Taeyong asks, his aura dark.
"I don't want to talk to anyone right now and she's forcing me, tell her to stop" Minho is just asking for trouble now.
Taeyong looks at you apologetically and then to his son angrily. "come with me" he says, taking his son by his arm to his room. He's gonna talk some sense into that spoiled kid, oh and he's grounded and Taeyong will personally have a word with those boys Minho's been playing with.
Yuta
We all know our man is woke af and got big brains. He's a friendly but strict father, his sons Hiroto (15) and Fubuki (10) know better than to make him angry. But his daughter Ayame (13) is his weakness and he goes easy on her. Maybe that's why she thinks she can trash talk to you without consequences.
You guys are going to meet Yuta's parents in Osaka and everyone is told to be on their best behavior. Hiroto and Fubuki comply but Ayame has an attitude because she would rather hangout with her friends. Yuta is driving the car and you're in the passenger seat.
"move omg you're touching me" Ayame complains and shoves Fubuki towards Hiroto, the latter sending her a glare.
"Ayame sweetie be nice to your baby brother" you say.
"ugh I don't get why we all have to go. I had to cancel my plans with Aoi and Natsumi. I could meet grandmother and grandfather some other time when I wasn't busy" she complains. You, Hiroto add Fubuki all look towards Yuta to check if this sudden outburst made him angry because it's his parents she's talking about. You can tell by the way he cocks his eyebrow for a second and the way he's gripping the steering wheel that he's getting annoyed. So you decide to tell her to stop.
"Ayame stop complaining, it's not like we meet them every day. They're very sweet and you kids know they love you so much".
"this was your stupid idea wasn't it mom" and with that Yuta stops the car and faces his daughter.
"what makes you think you can talk to her like that" he asks rhetorically. Ayame is speechless, she wasn't expecting this. Yuta thinks the world of you, he's seen you being sick during your pregnancies and the troubles of carrying his children. He's noticed how your body has become weaker and changed. If anything, he loves you even more for being strong and going through it. He's in awe of you and he can't let anyone disrespect you. His brain can't accept it.
"take your words back and say you're sorry right now" he says in a serious tone.
"I'm sorry mom" your daughter apologizes immediately.
Doyoung
Doyoung and you put in extra effort to teach your children the best manners. You guys did succeed but weren't prepared for this surprise. Your daughter Yuna (12) got into a fight with your son Hyunjin (14). It started with them arguing over the remote and escalated to the point where Hyunjin hit her in the head with the remote and pulled her hair. Yuna screamed for you. You and Doyoung were asleep in your room when you heard her scream. You quickly got out of bed and ran to see what had happened. Yuna came running into your arms, crying hysterically. Doyoung followed you, confused and scared. He sees Yuna in your arms crying her eyes out and you're scolding your son.
"Hyunjin how dare you hit your sister"
"it's not like she wasn't a part of it, I was watching the game and she tried snatching the remote from my hand"
"does that mean you hit her head and pull her hair? You're so mean apologize to your sister"
"no shut up" he says annoyed and immediately covers his mouth.
"hey! you shut up and go to your room, you're grounded until I say so" Doyoung says before you could say anything.
Hyunjin runs to his room with his hands still covering his mouth and spilling apologies to you.
Doyoung picks Yuna up and takes you both to your room, calming her down and promising her that he will scold Hyunjin.
"I'm sorry" he says to you, squeezing your hand feeling embarrassed that your son disrespected you.
Jaehyun
Such a loving husband and father and an only child, he did everything in his power to make you two happy. He spoiled not only you but his daughter as well. Ever since Jisoo was born, she has been the apple of everyone's eyes. Your parents, Jaehyun's parents and you two all loved her to no end. She got whatever she wanted. This soon got to her head and now she was 15 and asking for a Prius. It was an absurd request because 1, she doesn't know how to drive, 2, she's not legally supposed to drive and 3, what does she even need the car for. You both turn down her request. She's not having any of it.
She's stopped eating and stays in her room all the time. You're both very concerned but you know her wish can't be granted so you try to cheer her up.
You two are in her room sitting on her bed, she's on her phone. You start talking.
"Jae the lobster you prepared looks amazing and I bet it tastes perfect too, if only Jisoo could accompany us at the dinner table, we could taste it", you say.
Jisoo sighs "all I hear is blah blah blah"
"come on y/n, let's have lobster for dinner because Jisoo clearly doesn't have enough appreciation for the hard work put in and she doesn't have proper manners so we'll leave her to think about what she said and when she's ready to apologize, she can come join us at the dinner table" he says taking you out of the room with him.
Winwin
What did I say about OT10 hmm? We have no choice but to stan.
He's the sweetest most gentle man ever I swear just look at him. Everyone loves him so much. He doesn't look like the type to get angry so it really takes a lot to get him there.
He's sitting on the couch reading his group chat texts and you're sitting on the floor with you 16 year old son Minghao, playing a video game. You're better at it than him and you aren't gonna lose just because he's your son. You're about to win when he throws his controller and unplugs the game, making you let out an annoyed cry.
"what gives" you say
"mom can you stop, you're being annoying ugh"
"hey watch it" you warn him and he pushes the books off the shelf in annoyance.
"y/n let's go out for a walk. It'll give Minghao enough time to think about his actions and clean up the mess he's made".
Yup you both really left him to clean it.
Jungwoo
You guys have a pretty strong relationship and everyone can see that. You're there for each other and help the other whenever they need it. Plus you have two beautiful daughters Chaein (16) and Dami (14). Your family is cute, soft and savage. Yikes
Your daughters are very very close with you and won't dare to disrespect you and they often joke around with you.
Ever since you had your girls, you've struggled to lose weight. Your body had gotten weak after child birth so you needed everything to stay healthy but you couldn't seem to lose weight, you didn't have the energy to. You sometimes felt conscious standing next to your husband but he always reassured you that you look perfect and he's maintaining his weight because of his job. You didn't need to be conscious but you couldn't help it.
You had a lot of work to do that day so you constantly had to go up and down the stairs. At one point you had had enough so you stood there trying to catch your breath. Your daughter Dami also came down and was using her phone so she bumped into you.
"my God mother move! you've really let yourself go"
"that's not very nice of you Dami" Jungwoo says coming up the stairs to help you.
"I was joking dad" Dami says.
"we don't joke about these kinds of things in this household" Jungwoo informs and Dami says she's sorry to both of you.
"ooo busted" Chaein comments from her room.
Mark
You and Mark had a similar nature. You both found it hard to get angry but it was easy when it was at Haechan lmao let the boy breathe
Mark was pretty chill with his family and you guys joked around a lot but nothing too serious.
You were currently in the kitchen losing your marbles over Mark destroying the eggs and using a metal spoon on a non stick pan yup he scraped it alright.
"just watch me do it y/n I think I finally got it"
You're sitting still, internally crying over the ruined pan.
"see? I told you I got it" Mark says proudly, putting the destroyed egg on the plate, sprinkling some salt and pepper on it.
"Mark what is this supposed to be, and you ruined my pan. You said you were going to be careful with it. I'm physically in pain just looking at it" you say jokingly. The damage had been done you why not joke about it.
"oh come on mom it's just a pan stop being so over dramatic about it" says your 12 year old son Levi.
"hey don't be sassing around got it? Especially not with your mother and me" Mark says in a serious tone with his finger pointed to his son.
"sorry mom and dad" Levi says.
Haechan
If you thought he's annoying, you've got another thing coming. Say hello to your sons Changmin and Subin. A combination of Haechan and you.
You love them to death but sometimes it gets too much and you need your husband to control them. It's one of those times. They're running around the house with sticks in their hands. You're trying to stop them to keep them from hurting themselves because those sticks are pointy but they're not listening to you at all. You try stepping between and Subin (10) accidentally runs into you with the the stick pointed towards you. It pierces the skin of your leg, drawing blood. You let out a yelp and clutch your wounded leg. Changmin (12) screams for Haechan once he sees the blood. He immediately comes running and gives you first aid. He asks you how it happened and Subin answers it himself.
"I was playing with Changmin and mom decided to butt in!"
Haechan glares at him and is about to school him but you hold his wrist and shake your head no. He sighs and thinks of better words.
"that's not how to speak about your parents kids" he says, disappointed.

The results of the spin a wheel is tied with Yuta and Jaemin, so I’ve decided to let you guys vote for who you want with a little bit of the plot I’ve planned out...
Tumblr media
Idol! Jaemin x Barista! Reader
“This is the first time a barista has defied my order, and you even know who I am, this is outrageous. Female baristas are the best when it comes to making my order, and you dare to defy me?”  Jaemin asked after he had taken a sip of his coffee.
“Oh please, Jaemin. Not giving you four shots of Americano isn’t the end of the world. And as for the other baristas, I’m not the type to kill my best customers by making an unhealthy drink, not everyone can be charmed by your good looks, Jaemin,” you said as you handed out drinks to his members.
“Really? I think you’re even more charmed by me than others, or you wouldn’t be worrying about my health by not serving me the correct order,” Jaemin said as he leaned over at the service counter, eyebrows moving up and down with a smug look on his face.
“Whatever floats your boat, Na Jaemin.”
Tumblr media
Comic Artist! Yuta x Takoyaki Shop Owner! Reader
“What makes you come back to our shop again and again? You’re rich and famous, but you don’t even spare the other shops a chance,” you asked as you handed him his box of steaming hot takoyaki balls.
“Those are too touristy, just because they have big LED lights, doesn’t mean they’re the best, and your shop gets quiet a bit of tourists as well, I remember queueing for a long time during the peak season.”
“That’s only a spill over effect from other shops, and that still doesn’t explain why you only eat from my shop.”
“You really want to know?” Yuta asked as he placed a takoyaki ball into his mouth.
“Yeah, I’m curious, you are a well known comic artist after all, people want to know what goes on in your head.”
“Other people? Or you?”
But you didn’t answer him, it’s not like he doesn’t know the answer.
“Okay, fine, first off, your shop’s takoyaki balls are the best, and I would know, I grew up in Osaka. Secondly, there aren’t cute owners at other shops,” was the only thing Yuta said before walking off with a laugh, your flustered face etched a smile on his face.

Yamato Nikaido RabbiTube Rabbit TV Part 1: Spending Time With Yamato
Part 2 | Part 3
Staff: …Now, on to the RabbiTube project.
Staff: Our plan is to introduce the videos by featuring clips on NEXT Re:vale!
Staff: We’d really appreciate it if you could show a side of yourselves that people don’t usually get to see on TV. It’s a pleasure to be working with you!
Momo: We’ve got high hopes for you guys!
Yuki: Feel free to fully expose yourselves to the public.
Mitsuki Izumi: Ahaha, please be gentle with us! Looks like I’m gonna have to do a RabbiTube study marathon..!
Gaku Yaotome: By the way, Tenn, I saw you watching RabbiTube videos the other day. Do you know any good ones?
Tenn Kujo: …I was just watching cat videos.
Gaku Yaotome: Cats, huh. That’s not gonna help us learn anything.
Ryunosuke Tsunashi: …I think they might help! You could learn ways to entertain and soothe people…
Gaku Yaotome: Ryu, not all of us are gonna be able to do that…
Yuki: …I’m liking the idea of Kitty Gaku.
Tenn Kujo: …Pfft…
Gaku Yaotome: Tenn, why’re you laughing!?
Riku Nanase: Kitties..! So could it be like a video of Iori going into a cat café?
Iori Izumi: Why do I have to go to a cat café!?
Yamato Nikaido: I’m not too excited about making videos like that, either…
Tamaki Yotsuba: I wanna do a pudding tasting!
Sogo Osaka: …Personally, I’d like to rank my top 100 spices from all around the world…
Nagi Rokuya: And I shall hold a Cocona watch party!
Mitsuki Izumi: You guys aren’t bringing anything new to the table!
Iori Izumi: …Actually, I suppose animal videos do have their appeal, despite how banal they are…
Riku Nanase: Did you say something, Iori?
Iori Izumi: No, nothing.
Momo: Ahaha! Great, you’re already brainstorming ideas!
Momo: You’ve all got the right idea! We wanna see you act natural for your RabbiTubes!
Yuki: Let’s have a fun year doing this.
IDOLiSH7 & TRIGGER: Yessir!
- - - -
Riku Nanase: We’re going to be RabbiTubers for our birthday project this year..!
Sogo Osaka: All the group chats up until now were fun, so it’s kind of a shame that we won’t be doing one this year.
Mitsuki Izumi: …Fair enough. It’ll be awesome to make videos for our fans, but I wish we could have our own celebrations too!
Yamato Nikaido: It’s become kind of a tradition by now.
Nagi Rokuya: …We do not work together as much as we used to. Though I understand that it is difficult to match all our schedules…
Tamaki Yotsuba: Do we not get to eat Mikki’s cakes this year?
Mitsuki Izumi: The cakes are the one thing we’re gonna make for sure! Right, Iori!?
Iori Izumi: Yes. I’ll help, too.
Riku Nanase: Hmm… Celebrations…
Riku Nanase: Ah! Why don’t we all go somewhere together for our birthdays?
Riku Nanase: I guess we probably can’t all go… But we can get our manager to arrange it so at least some of us can hang out!
Mitsuki Izumi: Going out, huh… That does sound like a nice change of pace from all the group RabbitChats!
Yamato Nikaido: It’s a shame that we won’t all be able to go, but getting to choose a spot does make it feel more special. …You should take me to a beer brewery, by the way.
Mitsuki Izumi: Sounds like you’ve already got one in mind!
Tamaki Yotsuba: Let’s take lots of pics and videos for the guys who can’t go. We can send them over RabbitChat.
Nagi Rokuya: OH! A wonderful idea. It will make us all feel as if we are there.
Iori Izumi: I’m sure uploading them to Rabitter would make many people happy, as well.
Sogo Osaka: That sounds fun..! Let’s ask our manager about it tomorrow.
Riku Nanase: Yep! …Looks like we’re going to have pretty fun birthdays again!
- - - -
Nagi Rokuya: Yamato, Sogo! This is my first time doing pottery!
Nagi Rokuya: Though I have witnessed a posture similar to that of someone doing pottery in interviews and such...
Sogo Osaka: Politicians and commentators often pose like that for articles about them.
Sogo Osaka: Sometimes, it's almost like they really were told to mimic sitting at a pottery wheel.
Nagi Rokuya: Indeed. Many anime producers also pose like that for interviews.
Sogo Osaka: Interesting... I didn't know that technique had spread to the anime industry, as well...
Yamato Nikaido: ...Uh... Do I get to participate in this conversation yet?
Nagi Rokuya: But of course, Yamato! We are here for pottery!
Sogo Osaka: I'm sorry, I didn't mean to babble like that.
Yamato Nikaido: ...I thought our work here in Kyoto was done, so why are we at a pottery studio, exactly..?
Tsumugi Takanashi: This was the only day before your birthday that was open in all of your schedules!
Tsumugi Takanashi: We've got plenty of time before our train home leaves, and Sogo-san and Nagi-san wanted to sculpt tea cups for all of IDOLiSH7!
Nagi Rokuya: Ceramics are the essence of Japan. Show me your national spirit!
Yamato Nikaido: My national spirit...
Sogo Osaka: I thought it'd be nice if we could eat and drink from cups some of us made ourselves, even when we can't all be gathered around the same table.
Yamato Nikaido: ...I guess you've got a point there. Let's do this, then.
Yamato Nikaido: We'll save the brewery visit I'd been hoping for for some other day.
Nagi Rokuya: OH, there you go again...
Sogo Osaka: Yamato-san, you'll make four cups and bowls, while Nagi-kun and I will make three and bowls cups each.
Yamato Nikaido: Oh, okay then. Roger that.
Tsumugi Takanashi: Wait... Isn't that three sets too many?
Yamato Nikaido: You didn't think we'd forget you, our president, or Banri-san, did you? We'll make some for you guys, too.
Tsumugi Takanashi: Huh..?
Nagi Rokuya: YES! That way, we can all have yet another celebration.
Sogo Osaka: I hope you'll come visit us often.
Tsumugi Takanashi: ...T-thank you..! I didn't mean to make you work so hard for your own birthday, Yamato-san...
Yamato Nikaido: It's fine. All I need in return is that you use the cup I made, and maybe also cook me a something special in return.
Nagi Rokuya: Yamato, you are spoiling the mood.
Yamato Nikaido: Hey, even I need a reward sometimes.
Sogo Osaka: Ahaha...
Tsumugi Takanashi: I-I'll just be over here with the camera! Well then... let's begin!
Nagi, Yamato, & Sogo: Yeah..!
- - - -
Yamato Nikaido: This is actually pretty difficult...
Sogo Osaka: It's hard to get the thickness right. I feel like the strength of my fingers is off somehow...
Nagi Rokuya: Look, Yamato and Sogo! Gaze upon these gentle curves!
Yamato Nikaido: Wait, you're making Cocona, not a tea cup!
Sogo Osaka: Y-you're incredible, Nagi-kun! How did you make those hearts..?
Nagi Rokuya: OH, this is a very basic sculpting technique. Allow me to show you.
Yamato Nikaido: I thought you'd be better at this sort of thing since you're so into DIY, Sou.
Sogo Osaka: I think I'll do better if someone shows me how it's done...
Nagi Rokuya: Sogo, you do it like this.
Sogo Osaka: Whoa... It's taking shape so quickly...
Yamato Nikaido: ...That's King Pudding, not a cup.
Nagi Rokuya: I shall leave the finishing touches to you.
Tsumugi Takanashi: They're a far cry from anything you could drink out of, but still very impressive..!
Nagi Rokuya: Feel free to take pictures, Tsumugi.
Tsumugi Takanashi: I am!
Sogo Osaka: I need to do this properly. It's important!
Yamato Nikaido: Just don't show any pictures of Sou's work to Tama.
Tsumugi Takanashi: I already sent one to him..!
Yamato Nikaido: Damn, I was too late... My bad, Tama.
Yamato Nikaido: ...So why am I the only one taking this seriously, again?
Nagi Rokuya: I will put my Cocona in the kiln with the cups!
Sogo Osaka: And I'll put in my King Pudding...
Yamato Nikaido: Ugh... Hurry it up, then.
Tsumugi Takanashi: ...Ah, Yamato-san, are you starting to get the hang of it? Your cups are all nice and even, with just the right thickness and depth..!
Yamato Nikaido: Haha. Thanks. I've always had kind of a knack for this stuff.
Yamato Nikaido: How long do we have to keep these in the kiln for?
Tsumugi Takanashi: After they're done in the kiln, they still need to air dry... Which should take about a month or so, all in all! They'll mail the finished cups to us once they're done.
Yamato Nikaido: Well, at least we won't have to come back for them.
Sogo Osaka: We should think of what we'll have from these when they arrive.
Nagi Rokuya: Let us discuss it in our group chat afterwards.
Yamato Nikaido: I'd go with ochazuke, it seems like a safe enough choice.
Sogo Osaka: I thought you might suggest that. Great idea.
Nagi Rokuya: OH! I would like to have a bowl of sushi rice!
Yamato Nikaido: Ah, that one does sound nice, too... I'm starting to get hungry.
Sogo Osaka: Ahaha, same here! Let's buy some quick souvenirs for the guys and go straight home after that.
Nagi Rokuya: I look forward to selecting my lunch box at the train station.
Yamato Nikaido: You sure do take your time with that stuff.
Nagi Rokuya: Eating on the train was not a part of my country's culture, so I was very excited to find out about Japan's train lunches!
Yamato Nikaido: Yeah, I can see why. A can of beer goes well with those.
Sogo Osaka: And it's fun to see which sorts of lunches are sold in different regions.
Yamato Nikaido: Sure is.
- - - -
Yamato Nikaido: ...Time flies by when you're talking about food.
Nagi Rokuya: Sogo and I have made three sets each!
Sogo Osaka: How did you like doing pottery, Yamato-san?
Yamato Nikaido: Haha... In all honesty, it was a ton of fun. You picked this place because you knew I'm not into big and fancy stuff, right? Thanks.
Yamato Nikaido: We should bring the rest of the guys here sometime.
Sogo Osaka: We should!
Nagi Rokuya: YES!
Tsumugi Takanashi: Thank you all for showing me your pottery skills..! Let me just take one more picture of you!
Tsumugi Takanashi: Say cheese..!
End of Part 1.
