📘 Starpoint AU Fanfic: Deciding On A Team Name
Tumblr media
It’s been about a week into the competition. Up until now, Starline and the others haven’t been able to decide on a team name because the group have been at such conflicting odds with each other, thanks to Starline’s failed attempts to control everything.
They’ve been ruthlessly teased for it too by another team who are shaping up to be their immediate rivals. “Not much of a team if you can’t even decide on a name! HA HA!”
So after Starline talks with Rivet and Charge and changes his tactics to allow everyone to be involved, they finally mellow out enough to come together and decide on something.
Mood Music: World Trigger - 31/40
“As you all know, today’s the last day to submit our team name,” Starline told the group huddled around in a comfortable circle, with some standing, and some sitting on the couches and chairs. He himself had chosen to stand.
“I realize we got off to a rough start. Simply put… this last week has been a disaster. But now that we’re all somewhat on the same page, we need to figure something out now.”
Starline then pressed his fingers together and glanced around. “So—in order to show my good will and that I’m serious about listening to what you all have to say, I have decided to open up the floor to whatever suggestions you may have.”
There was a tangible pause as the group weighed the sincerity of his words, debating who was going to test that theory and speak up first.
Surprisingly, Hex was the one to take first crack at it, raising his gloved hand into the air.
Starline nodded to him. “Yes, Hex?”
“Um.. How about ‘Misfits?’” The small purple rat suggested, dropping his arm and dangling it with his other one over the back of the rolling chair he was occupying. “You know, because we’re all kind of a band of misfits working together?”
“That would make sense,” Rivet agreed, pointing to herself, then to her brother who was lounging next to her on the couch. “I mean, Charge and I grew up in an isolated village without any technology—“ She then pointed across the circle to Cello. “Cello’s a hardcore chemist in a family of strict miners, Starline does multiple fields of study, Hex is a kid genius who could probably outcode the sun if he wanted to, and Lug—“
The lavender cat paused, as if suddenly realizing the bulldog didn’t really have anything noteworthy about himself to speak of. “…Well, Lug is Lug!”
Starline sighed as he crossed his arms, rubbing the bridge of his bill. Not… off to a great start.. “We are not going with Misfits,” he stated firmly. “A team name is supposed to inspire confidence, not make us sound as if we have no idea what we’re doing.” He shook his head haughtily.
“Well, how about ‘Intellects’ then?” Cello suggested next, her deadpanned expression unwavering as she adjusted her round, large framed glasses. “To show that we’re the opposite?”
“That’s too obvious though,” Charge pointed out, draping his arms across the couch’s back. His yellow ears flicked to the side. “And.. it kinda makes us sound like a bunch of know-it-alls. Not really a good look.”
The firefly crossed her arms and grumpily glowered over at the goofball of the group. “Well then, do YOU have any better ideas?” Cello pointedly asked him.
Charge debated for a moment, sticking his tongue out and closing one eye as he looked to the ceiling. His ears cocked with the movement, before he resumed his normal expression. “…How about ‘The Hex Squad’? Y’know, cuz there’s six of us—a hex bolt has six points—and we’re working on constructing robots and such?”
“I’ll confess that is a clever... utilization of that word…” Starline started, slightly impressed he had come up with that on the fly. “But I think the problem with that one should be fairly obvious.”
“Oh?” Charge blinked cluelessly.
Hex cleared his throat as he rose his hand again.
“…Oh, right—“ The cat chuckled after a moment, scratching sheepishly at his face. “Guess we shouldn’t use the name of one of our teammates, huh?”
“I mean, it’s not that I wouldn’t mind my nickname being part of the team name,” Hex started, rubbing the back of his visor-clad head. “Honestly I’d be kind of flattered really… But if we go with that, then everyone might think I’m the leader.” He shuddered in cold fear. “And I don’t think I could deal with the stress of that…”
“Yeah, you have a point there,” Charge agreed before sliding further down the couch, hiding his mouth in the crook of his scarf. “I just thought it might sound cool.”
The cat then blinked and side glanced at Rivet. “How about you, sis? You’re good at coming up with names. Got anything cooking in that nogin of yours?”
“Mmm.. sorry to say it, but no, not really,“ Rivet sighed in frustration as she crossed her arms and shifted her weight to the other hip. “Most of the ones I thought of were already taken by the other groups early on. And it’s kind of hard to encompass so many people with so many different talents under one name.” She frowned and closed her eyes. “Honestly, the best I’ve got at this moment would be something like ‘Team Vision’ or ‘Team Innovation’.”
The group grumbled and collectively deflated with a sigh.
“I mean, yeah, I guess those would technically work, but they are pretty bland and generic…” Hex stated with a weak chuckle.
“Which is precisely why I didn’t bring them up...”
Starline rubbed his face as each of their ideas came up short. This was shaping up to be a bigger disappointment than the platypus had originally hoped. After all their insistance to be involved and work as a team, he had hoped they might be able to surprise him a bit and prove they were deserving of the voice he was giving to them. But so far, things were playing out just the way he thought they would.
The platypus huffed a bit, deciding it best to take control again. “Well then… unless you all can come up with something respectably appropriate by this evening, then I’m afraid we’ll have no choice but to fall back on the name that I chose earlier.”
“Oh please no,” Hex groaned, putting his face into his hands. “Not that one.”
“Yeah, I’m not exactly thrilled about being called ‘Dr. Starline and his Minions’ either,” Rivet admitted with a frown.
Starline scoffed and stuck his bill in the air. “It is a perfectly acceptable name!”
“Yeah, for you maybe!!” Cello ground her teeth together like a dog ready to chomp on his head. “I don’t much appreciate being called a ‘minion’. And if Hex can’t have his name be part of the team one, then why can you? Like? Ego much?”
Starline blanched and glowered over at the firefly. “We’ve been over this already, Cello!” He argued, clenching a fist in annoyance. “I can do whatever I please because I AM the leader!”
As the two began to bicker back and forth, Rivet sighed to herself. “Well, there they go again... Honestly..”
Charge chuckled weakly in agreement before starting, “The Doc does have a point though. None of our ideas are really working, and we’re almost out of time.”
“If only we hadn’t spent so much time fighting this last week…” Rivet grumbled as she rubbed the back of her head.
Hex made a thoughtful noise, then glanced over to the bulldog sitting wide stanced in the couch chair besides him, twiddling his big gloved thumbs. “…Lug? What about you? You’ve been pretty quiet this whole time. Do you have any ideas?”
“Huh?” Lug glanced over at his best friend, before shrugging his shoulders at being addressed. “Oh, well, I mean—I do have one, but it’s probably not that good.”
“Aha—dear boy, I don’t think it can be any worse than anything we’ve heard already,” Starline scoffed, breaking off from listening to Cello’s flaming remarks and earning a dirty look from her and the others in the process.
Lug debated that silently for a moment, then his ears perked as he decided to just shoot his shot. “Well then, how about… ‘Starpoint’?”
The air of the group suddenly shifted as tensions dropped and everyone looked to him with complete confusion.
“‘Starpoint’?” Rivet echoed, tilting her head a bit in bewilderment.
“Yeah!” The bulldog looked around at the collective group. “I mean— we are all here to prove something, right? To show that… we’re something more than what they say we are?”
Hex and Starline’s eyes widened.
“That we can be better versions of ourselves, and make a real difference?”
Rivet and Cello exchanged a thoughtful glance.
‘We’re gonna ‘reach for the stars’? Fulfill our goals and all that stuff?”
Charge grinned as he let out a impressed little laugh.
Lug held out his hands like he had just told the punchline to a joke and was awaiting the audience’s response. “Ehh? Makes sense, right?”
“Starpoint..” Starline murmured thoughtfully, putting a hand to his bill in earnest contemplation as the platypus suddenly found himself genuinely surprised by the depth and insightfulness of that name.
How shocking for it to be coming from their arguably dumbest member as well.
“Well—it does have a nice ring to it,” Rivet spoke up after a moment of thinking as well.
“Not too haughty or degrading…” Cello added as she also put a hand on her chin. “It fits our group dynamics pretty well too...”
“And it sounds cool as heck!” Charge laughed a bit before nodding. “I think it’s perfect.”
“Yeah?” Lug sat up straighter as his grin grew even wider. Almost like he didn’t expect them to like it.
“Yes..” Starline wagged a finger through the air as he weighed this new option, before glancing across to Lug with a rather impressed grin. “I do believe you might be onto something there, Lug. Well done!” A genuine compliment he did not expect to be giving.
“So, if sour face over there is behind it too, does this mean we’re going with it, or not?” Cello asked, ignoring Starline’s sharp, withering glare as her eyes darting from person to person, trying to judge the vibe of the room.
“Why not?” Rivet asked, shifting her weight to the other side. “I like it!”
“Let’s do it!” Charge agreed. “Beats the other option by a mile anyways!”
Starline grumbled, feeling his pride take two severe hits, like a flaming arrow to the heart. But the self proclaimed doctor quickly moved past it and cleared his throat to give an approving nod as well, despite his disbelief that he was doing so. “I suppose it does encapsulate our shared goals quite well... and if everyone’s in agreement with it, then I see no problem with us being the ‘Starpoint Team’.”
“SQUAD!” Hex suddenly exclaimed, raising his little hand again excitedly. “Let’s be the ‘Starpoint Squad’ like how Charge suggested instead!!” He practically leapt up onto his seat cushion with stars glowing in his eyes. “I just realized if we do that, then we’ll be JUST like my favorite heroes from Hero Mania: Mega Battle Robots VII! A team of powerful warriors using their combined skills to protect the world and make it a better place!”
“Ahah..” Starline hesitated, feeling a dip of reluctance to let that change slip through. He had already approved of Lug’s idea. Not to mention ‘Team’ sounded much more put together and professional than ‘Squad’ did. “Hex… we aren’t in a video game—“ he started to say. But the kid was too eager to let him finish.
“Awwww please???” Hex put his hands together and gave the platypus his best puppy dog look.
Lug was immediately ready to back his best friend up, giving a big ole, sad frown as he pushed to the rat’s side as if to showcase him like a car salesman. “Aww, I know you’re a big grump an’ all, Starline, but you wouldn’t say no to a face like this, ✨ would you? ✨”
“Yes, I would,” Starline said without skipping a beat, and Lug bristled like a cat being thrown into water. “WOW—SO COLD!!”
Charge laughed at their back and forth before leaning forward on his knees to glance over at Starline. “Aw, come on Doc, let the kid have his fun. You know it won’t hurt anything in the long run.”
Starline grumbled beneath his breath, suddenly feeling very bullied from all sides. Hex certainly wasn’t going to let this go, was he? And was it really worth his time and effort to argue with them on this? Especially when they were already so far behind schedule as is?
“Don’t lose sight of your goal. You’re doing this to gain Eggman’s attention…” he begrudgingly reminded himself, pressing a hand to his well-maintained bangs.
The platypus finally sighed loudly and waved a hand through the air with a dramatic reluctance as he conceeded. “…Very well, fine! If you so insist, ‘Starpoint Squad’ it is.”
“YIPPEE!!” Hex exclaimed excitedly as he quite literally jumped out of his seat in joy, and Starline couldn’t help but huff a bit and shake his head.
“See? I knew it,” Rivet’s voice caused him to look up again, just in time to see the rider smirk as she lightly shoulder bumped him. “You do have a heart in there.”
Scoffing, Starline rolled his eyes as he straightened his blazer. “It has nothing to do with having a heart,” he stated as he watched Lug hoist the excited, giggling rat into the air and spin him around. “Charge is right. At the end of the day, the work we complete will be ultimately what matters.”
“Mmm.. sure, okay. Whatever you say, Doc.” Rivet hummed thoughtful. She didn’t sound like she believed a word of it.
“It’s simply strategy,” Starline thought to himself, dismissing her words. “Nothing more.”
Still… watching the laughing Hex, he did have to admit.. The boy’s energy over such a small thing was contagious.
The platypus smiled. Just a little bit.
He supposed he could deal with allowing this change.

Introduction
Hello there! This is a HLVRAI AU. Welcome to the Sweet Voice Cafe!
The cafe serves ice cream, hot drinks, and a few options of pastries! Their special includes different themed ice creams with sweet voice ingredients that give actual effects. (Calming, kindness, sleepiness, love, etc.) The decorations are loud and bright, driving away most “karens”. Sunkist is the mascot! The science team has a large apartment upstairs where they reside. It’s basically a collection of Outcodes. This is an AU where Black Mesa, aliens, and powers don’t exist. They simply exist in the Half Life video games. The government has taken notice of this establishment, but are so frightened by the unknown powers of these entities, that they don’t take action.
CHECK OUT ALL CHARACTER INFO HERE
Asks directly to characters are NOT open yet, but regarding the story or mechanics they are.
Mod is @harmonytre (She/It) if you'd like to see canon HLVRAI art instead!

Im asking you to go feral and explain swap x outer [3
Do what you must ,,úчù,,
going to self indulgent here and explain why i think a specific song i placed into their playlist makes me think of them. it’s pretty long (like ten minutes) but the mental imagery always captivates me
it’s the thought of swap being alone. someone different in the face of the multiverse. bc he’s the ‘old one out’ in a (very literal) sense. there are so many variations of ‘swap’ out there. even a bastardized version that was caused by a popular series of misconceptions.
the repetition of “hey space cadet” followed by some form of declaration of loneliness. im going to be breaking down the entire song here! or at least the lyrics that are significant to me lol
It is 2014 and I have no idea what is going on in my life
Heavily vibes based. leaning into swap’s (or outer’s) confusion regarding the multiverse. kind of plays into how old their aus are respectively
Hello hello hello hello -> I got a little drunk before I came here
outer or swap being introduced to the multiverse in some way. being hopeful or wary. their perception of the multiverse being VERY narrow. the echoing "hello"s could signify the other outcodes greeting them or other past residents of aus. also plays into sans' "knowing more than he lets on" trait where they probably had some idea of alternate universes existing before being directly introduced to them
frozen margaritas in Austin -> the birthplace and deathplace of Elvis
really just vibes. imagining them talking to out-codes (namely dream or error) and becoming more warmed up to the multiverse. visiting the omega timeline too
(and I’m so far away from home) -> (route seven)
the slow pace of it up to here makes me think of swap or outer or both missing their homes. possibly missing their narrow view of the universe. missing when the world (still endlessly big) was a little smaller
Hey, space cadet. you can’t hang out with your friends, even when you are with them
to me is about swap joining/formulating the star sanses with their first multiverse friends. but the connection they NEED isn’t there. the connections theyre craving arent there. dream themself is still getting used to forming those deep connections or refuses to due to the influence of their aura and the potential codependency that may develop due to it. and ink is not looking to view these guys as more than "characters" (for his mental safety tbh)
Hey, space cadet. you’re gonna need a lot of love but not the kind you’re thinking of
swap wants that connection though, he wants friends that he can go to and hang out with. he's desperate for that validation and acceptance, as someone that's so different. he wasn't taken seriously (enough to become part of the guard) in his universe so why did he expect differently here
and the times when i feel fine -> had to come and write this song
swap possibly sorting through their feelings. he begins seeking out other friends, or places he can relax outside of his home universe. at this point he knows of error and their interests. or outertale was mentioned at some point. either way, he seeks comfort in that universe
hey, space cadet. didn’t think it’d be this far but that’s the price for being a star
this is swap directly communicating his feelings to outer after forming that bond. outer themself rarely left their home universe, opting to welcome monsters that visit the place. outertale is like a tourist stop in that way or at least a place frequently visited by others. it took some time for outer to move past cagey and distrustful to being more open (which isnt by much)
i met you through the television screen. i fell in love with the guy smiling at the audience. and now this love is praecox feeling. and now this love is aspect dawning
swap thinking about ink. possibly learning about ink’s ‘mentality’ and how he only sees them all as ‘characters’. swap’s idolization of dream too! believing that they had the full picture for everything.
swap saw these two as gods almost. beings higher than him. their treatment of their relationship (not deepening their bond past 'coworkers') didnt help to dissuade swap's initial idolization, causing it to snowball into something more severe and possibly toxic.
i can also see this as swap developing a crush on dream but thats pretty 'straight-from-the-lyrics' to me. and i personally view them as best friends
hello hello hello hello -> we should fit like a glove and a hand
swap witnessing the star sanses fall apart possibly! being so upset bc their best friends’ conflicting moralities drove them apart thus, dissolving the group
after this, swap has nowhere to go. he doesnt have a 'job' anymore and his interest in becoming part of the guard in his home universe is so small in comparison to what he was before. he retreats to outertale or the omega timeline to think
Hey, space cadet. The things you see inside your head. You'd better make other plans instead
It's alright to want to dream. It doesn't mean reality is mean, oh
outer or papyrus or dream or swap himself telling swap to let go of his past expectations but to experience the multiverse for what it is
Hey, space cadet. it’s time to show them what you can. what can you do, man, what can you do?
they could be talking to either. outer’s space based powers and magic. swap’s general potential and how theyre underestimated GREATLY
Love isn't love enough -> Love isn't love even at all -> At all, at all, at all
No real explanation abt why this fits besides vibes again. swap struggling with abandoning this mentality and outer bearing witness to it (also dropping my headcanons: swap is ace and outer is aro)
(Space cadet, you are now crashing in space. You've waited for this, now, you're off)
(Kind of a side tangent) But blueberror to me. Swap being Error-d leads to swap letting go of his expectations and past attachments. either protecting aus or destroying them with this new turning point
Hey, space cadet…
this final ‘echo’ at the end just SINGS starryknights to me. the longing, the grief, the agony and the comfort they can seek in each other. the audio for it says so much more
this felt like a mostly swap to outer dump though. outer mostly stayed within their universe and didnt develop that many multiverse affecting friends (like dream or ink or error) outer mainly hangs out with sans, fell, swap, horror, dance and epic at the very least.
error is around too but they dont exactly talk too much. silent acknowledgment and mutual "youre alright" relationship. i can definitely see outer drawing someone like nightmare to them bc of the quiet atmosphere and lack of an ulterior motive
also outer being friends with another character that mostly sticks to their home universe: ccino :3

Introducing: Undertale self-insert #102480124 • (Update 2.02 - Miscellaneous changes)
HELLO PEOPLE
I may have disappeared for a maybe long while
And that is because of 3 reasons:
Ink appreciation server
running @ink-simp-shenanigans (surprise surprise it's me)
And school just started a week ago (which is more recent but i guess that may have added)
Except there is a 4th one and that is,,,,,,, I MAY have been working on a little Undertale AU,,,,, and then made an OC out of it,,,,
The AU will get it's own post and i'll reveal as much info as needed at the moment to explain who even is this new character that will be one of my faces on this blog (because i'm gonna have 2 OCs representing me. yeah- second one's design is still W.I.P (nevermind this is future me i finished the design but i might make a separate post for it))
And HERE IT COMES
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A FURRY. What's cringier (affectionate /gen) than an Undertale self-insert in mid 2023? A FURRY Undertale self-insert that can shapeshift (WOW OP WHAT A MARY SUE) and exists for SELFSHIPPING
YEAH
THAT'S IT
TH- THAT'S THE CREATURE
And speaking of selfshipping if you scroll in my blog for a bit you might notice that i very much like Ink
and also reminder that I run a blog that has the purpose of feeding Ink simps
So uh I think you get what i'm trying to say
what the flop is a star-born monster????
It might take me a little while (or until i get asks about it) for me to open up about the selfship shenanigans, but meanwhile, here are some bits of explanations and stuff!
which AU is this menace from?
OuterRenaissance. It's still being fleshed out (asks would help a lot), and I plan to later on make an outcode expanded version, and even have some basic stuff for that version. But in simple words it's Outertale but in addition of the space themes, i added themes of the Renaissance historical period, as it brought great advances to science; including astronomy!
I have a post explaining exactly this!
And here's some trivia to finish this off!
(also, Io can shapeshift out of this appearance because shapeshifting powers)
Backstory???
Its AU died (destroyed by Error), and it almost did too, but i possessed it and fused my soul over time with its own using my creator powers and it is now technically a walking corpse puppeteered by me so I can interact with the UTMV, while also forcing it to change its form into the Doppelganger form; giving it the ability to, well, shapeshift. Also ink snas selfship shenanigans i haven't properly written yet (yooo two walking corpses that love eachother!!!!!1!!!1). that's the fewest words i can put it in
IS THAT A 'THE STARRY NIGHT' REFERENCE???
Yes. Yes it is. and fun fact: the ship between Io and Ink is named exactly that. The Starry Night. how clever of me, i should get a prize
Does it have a personality?
Yup. I just don't know how to describe personalities, but here's an attempt at that.
Io is a passionate artist, but struggles with some degree of perfectionism driven by the pride of its art skills which are, by far, its best ability. It also tends to be (sometimes dangerously) kind-hearted at others. It might act one of two ways in social spaces: kind of awkward, not talking much, OR ABSOLUTE MENACE as in SUPER SILLY. No in-between.
Also, it is a quick learner, and could be considered quite intelligent. Thing is ... It carried over speech from the Renaissance time period and is still adapting to modern words. A bit of an overthinker too, which can lead to communication issues, and tends to plan elaborate strategies to perform the simplest of things...sometimes not even following them.
Pronouns/gender identity?
Io, like me, goes by it/its pronouns and identifies as non-binary! (Subject to change as I occasionally explore my gender identity)
Io, due to being puppeteered by me; a Creator, also has the powers of one, but either doesn't use the powers at all or uses them in subtle ways to try and steer things to its/my favour. It may sometimes disguise it as "art magic" shown in these doodles i made a bit ago:
Tumblr media
also. autism. i'm autistic and because i take control of this critter i'm dragging it into the spectrum.
And I think that's everything that comes to mind right now! Thank you for listening to this bunch of rambling that i did not beta read prior to posting.

I wanted to write a little something-
This is a gift for @its-ellihere for their fic
It's really good, so I recommend checking it out!! (If anyone's reading this, lmao)
(Also, this is like, kinda considered as a spoiler warning, I guess. It's like a "Will it happen like this later on in the story?" Sorta deal, sooo-)
Something shattered.
"YIN!!"
YiN stood still, frozen in place. Their eyes were wide as they stared at their soul in Ink's hand, shattered.
YiN couldn't hear anything. They didn't focus on anything but their soul. Why.... How did it turn out like this?
They just wanted their family back.
Was that so much to ask for?
They fell, but a pair of hands caught them.
"Hey! Y-YiN, it'll- it'll be okay! We're here, we're- we're finally here! Come on now, don't- haha-! Don't leave so soon! We've- everyone just got here! YiN please-!"
Who was that?
Oh... It was their Nightmare. And are those Error and Cross too..?
Tears streamed down their face as they stared at their squad, all of them crying. They've never seen them like this before..
They're tired..
A nap sounds good.
"No no no nO NO! HEY, YIN-! YIN, DON'T- DO NOT CLOSE YOUR EYES! PLEASE- PLEASE, YOU- YOU CAN'T LEAVE US! COME ON-!"
Nightmare hugged them tightly as he begged. Cross wrapped his arms around the both of them, while Error curled into a ball and stayed as close as he can to them.
"INK! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU!?" Blue yelled as he ran up to Ink, fully prepared to cause him harm.
"B-Blue! Stop it!" Dream held onto Blue as tightly as he could while tears fell down his face.
"WHY? WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS!? YOU-..." Blue grit his teeth. "YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE!! WHAT DID YIN EVER DO TO YOU!? THEY WEREN'T DOING ANYTHING BAD IN THIS MULTIVERSE!! AND YOU DID THIS- ALL OF THIS!? FOR WHAT, JUST SO YOU COULD BE SOME FUCKING HERO HERE!?" Tears pricked his eyes. "I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU, I HATE YOU, I HATE YOU!!"
Ink stared at everything before him in shock. Nightmares gang stood still, staring at him in shock. Even Nightmare! Didn't he want to kill YiN in the first place? So why does... Why does he look so horrified at YiN's shattered soul?
The other him and Dream stared at him, shocked and horrified as well. From what Ink gathered, YiN and their squad were criminals back in their Multiverse. So he's rather confused at their reactions.
YiN's squad was surrounding them, crying. Even Cross- this Multiverse's Cross- stood behind them, shaking slightly.
And- And Blue was yelling at him.
Ink doesn't understand. He thought he would be loved if he did this? Why does everyone care about an outcode? YiN doesn't belong here.
A static, glitchy portal opened up. Almost everyone but the squad snapped their heads to it.
It was Error.
He froze as everyone stared at him.
"... WhAt thE fUck aRE YoU guYs StaRiNg aT?" He asked, annoyed.
He looked around and saw three people, one who looked almost similar to him, surrounding someone on the ground.
And that someone was YiN.
Error's eyes widened as he stared at the group, mainly at YiN.
Everyone expected him to do something. Be annoyed at the staring and the crying, cause everyone harm.
Nobody expected to see the destroyer cry.
"... YiN.."
One of the only people who ever cared about him. Someone who saw him as a person, someone who enjoyed being around him.
They never ran away from him, yelled at him for destroying worlds, and they... They liked him.
They were one of the only people Error truly cared about.
He loved them.
His eyes switched to the shattered soul on the ground.
And it was right next to Ink.

What if the shifting mound (princess) and dust sans met or switched places. All I think about is them.
tbh I head canon dust as more of a long quiet and the chaotic/destructive nature of the player as the shifting mound bit yeah it does also feel funny to swap dust next to the princess in the worlds!
first of all... the script would break. obviously. and maybe dust somehow ending up in that world actually breaches the constructs design if either player or dust interfere cuz the two sleeping gods are not supposed to have any visitors.
if the princess and Bird boi end up in the Undertale universe? that'll be more likely. since aus tend to be more lenient with outcodes than a literal god prison.
the meeting circumstances aside, when faced with the choice to save the world and kill an unknown entity, dust ironically... couldn't care less!
if it's not his world? so what? he doesn't care for the humans that'll die. and he's no savior. let it die! he'd turn around and walk away... only to end up back at the road to the cabin.
it's going to trigger him. and it WILL TRIGGER his reset phobia BADLY.
"fine. if this place INSISTS? he'll just get it overwith and then leave."
he won't do it for the world but he WILL do it if he feels trapped.
once confronted with the "princess" he gets a sense of sick familiarity from her. not HER personally but her KIND. like being faced with a powerful being veiled in a weakened shell and a humanlike vessel.

he's going to bash his head against the wall with an annoyed groan. he's also probably going to stab the talkative crow that follows him around and kill him on the spot.
(rip narrator)
then he's going to ask what she wants, and how this world works and HOW MANY TIMES they've already had this conversation before. he won't bring the blade, he has plenty of weapons to work with. (and the knife brings bad memories.)
the princess would first think he's a grim reaper or something... them she'd question his sanity...
oddly enough? it doesn't FEEL like he's lying and it FEELS like something is familiar but not him. not her other half. not her... missing parts? something outside of the construct. her mortal vessel would be concerned, a bit scared and maybe even get a bit aggressive and defensive... but he doesn't KILL her. he can pin her down and interrogate but he WON'T kill her because he fears it'll end up resetting.
the shifting mound itself would be EXTREMELY intrigued... and probably instantly just take him away to ask stuff curiously about the outside or if he knows how to get out. she'd ask for so many new possib- /STAB/
yeaaaah no. he's dealt with time bending people before and he ain't afraid to collapse the entire world for the sake of pissing them off. if he has to use the ol, special attack of literally doing nothing to bore the anomaly to death? so be it!
she'd see the contrarian ego and the stubborn ego in him, but also the broken ego from quiet and parts of her own other vessels.
so familiar yet so completely different. this vessel was sharpened like a fine blade to fight. yet damaged in the process.
refining iron again and again till something broke. something dud this to him on purpose. it wasn't an accident.
she knows that feeling through her adversary vessel but doesn't relate to it deeply. she can't understand it from a mortals perspective. because to her all that pain is simply just an experience or a fleeting dream.
it's not real. nor will it ever be. she's a god. she wouldn't know.
also she'd probably try looking where the hell her husband/mortal enemy vanished to.
she's not sure if she can direct her branches to open a path to dusts universe since it's not just hopping timelines or multiverses.
it's hopping entire DIMENSIONS. two completely different stories.

IMYM Chapter 10: Every Action has Consequence: Dream
<- Previous Chapter || Masterlist || Next Chapter ->
“Any sign of him?” Blue sat beside Dream on a stone bench.
“No,” the guardian sighed, looking up at Outertale’s night sky. His voice was worn, tired, and scratchy.
One month. They’ve been searching almost nonstop for over one month. They traveled to all the negative AUs they could, anywhere Nightmare could be hiding Ink. The problem with the Doodlesphere was there were millions of AUs and timelines. If they went through every single AU, not only the negative ones, it would take years. Centuries even, and they assumed he didn’t have that much time. Dream couldn’t sense Ink’s aura in any of them. He couldn’t find the other members either. The more time passed, the more he worried.
Dream was on a constant search for their brother’s hideout, but now the stakes raised. They knew Nightmare constructed a private AU for him and his subordinates. He had never been to a pocket AU, but he knew of them from Ink. Closed-off, highly secure AUs only monsters who knew the coordinates could enter. Like a house key given to close friends.
Unfortunately, Dream didn’t have that key. No Doodlesphere door leads to it. Only Nightmare, Error, Ink, Core, Fresh, himself, and a few other outcodes could make portals. Out of those, only Nightmare and Error could access the pocket AU.
Dream looked over to the skeleton sitting on his left. He worried over Blue. As a mortal, he didn’t match the stamina or powers he or Ink had. Yet his determination kept him going, sometimes even more than Dream. And the guardian couldn’t be more grateful. He almost had more energy than he did.
Dream ran his fingers down his clipboard, covered in red ink Xs. They traveled to every AU on the list with no results. Nightmare would never keep Ink in a positive AU, it was contradictory to his goal. Dream couldn’t hide it anymore, Nightmare was in a pocket AU, and that made it almost fell hopeless.
“Blue . . .” Dream asked, turning their attention toward their friend. They had an idea. “How close are you to Error?”
Blue blinked in surprise and thought about it. “Well . . . I think we’re friends. At least in a ‘if you tell me there’s someone you like, I’ll spare their life’ way. Why do you ask?”
“Do you think he could help us find Ink?” Despite everything, there was hope in his voice. “He has to be involved with Nightmare’s plan somehow. At the very least, he has to know where his castle is!”
“Hm . . . I don’t know. Since it’s Ink, I don’t think he even wants to save him, but I can try. And you need-”
“Trying is all I need.” Dream smiled, hoping to avoid what Blue would say next. He still had hope everything would be okay, despite the worrying in the pit of his ribs. The sooner they found Ink, the sooner they could put this behind them. The sooner they could bring Ink home. Dream stood up and the ground spun under his feet. He didn’t say anything about it though, both because he didn’t want to worry Blue and he was used to it at this point.
Dream spun his staff and created a portal, stepping aside to let Blue walk in first. The Anti-void, while desolate and unnerving, was easy to enter. But his hands did feel numb.
“Error!” Blue called, his voice echoing in the Anti-void. His voice was the only one that answered him. Dream couldn’t sense Error’s aura anywhere, but he did hear something. A strange buzzing.
As the sound great more distinct, Dream turned around. An oval portal glitched, showing an AU on the inside. Strange, why didn’t Error shut it? Did he always keep his portals open? That didn’t seem like him.
“There.” Dream spoke the obvious and pointed at the portal.
Blue strings dangled all over the AU. Some monsters struggled to get out of them while others ran in a panic. Dream summoned his bow and fired two arrows to free the trapped monsters. Blue used his telekinesis magic to levitate them gently to the ground.
Dream sighed. Not because the negativity was giving him a headache, but because he knew the calm period couldn’t last. Error and Nightmare haven’t attacked since Ink’s kidnapping, both a good and bad thing.
While Blue helped pull the monsters down, Dream ran and searched for Error. It turned out to be easier than he expected as he sensed his aura. He looked up and Error held two monsters in his string, playing with them like toys. He glitched more than usual, a laugh hidden under his words. Dream ran up, but he lost his footing. He wasn’t paying attention and missed the traps Error set out. He fell into one. The strings snapped and shot up, trapping him in a ball of strings. Dream gasped and kicked in a frantic escape attempt. It was harder than it should have been.We
Error yanked the strings of a mouse monster, using a falsetto voice. “Oh, Antoinette! I don’t have a choice! I must kill you or the great destroyer will bring me down! Please forgive me!”
He pulled the second mouse’s strings. “No, there has to be another way! I won’t let him take you!”
“It’s too late! Goodbye forever!”
By the time they broke free of the strings, Error forced the monster to stab the other and burst out laughing. Then he snapped the first’s neck. Dream felt a piece of his soul crack. Error’s laugh turned into a cough, then into a violent twitch. He groaned and held his head, glaring around at some invisible threat. “What do you want from me? I killed it, geez . . .”
Dream threw the blue strings down and fired a positivity arrow. Despite it only being one arrow, it made his arms feel heavy. The arrow shot down one of Error’s strings. ErrorDream slipped, teleporting to avoid falling from the platform he created.
Error looked at Dream with a mix of anger and disappointment. “Oh great, you just had to ruin my fun, didn’t you.”
Dream scoffed. “Murder isn’t a game! You can’t manipulate the lives of others because you are bored, it’s cruel, it’s wrong.” They took a deep breath. “Speaking of, where is Ink? I know you know something about him!”
The destroyer rolled his eye lights. “Nightmare has him, I thought you would figure that out by now.”
Blue teleported over, hammer in hand. “We know Nightmare took him, we just want to know where! Error, come on! Ink is in danger! Nightmare is going to kill him!”
“So? He’s my enemy. I don’t care if Nightmare beats him up a bit, less work and stress for me.” Error shrugged. He looked at the ground. While it wasn’t a direct lie, Dream could sense he was hiding something. He held his hand out to make his power stronger, but nothing happened. Well, no magic was summoned, but he lost almost all feeling in his legs. Dream stumbled.
“This is serious! You heartless little . . .” Blue muttered through gritted teeth. He sighed, disappointment in his tone. “Dream, if I take on- Dream? Are you okay?”
Only catching words of the conversation, Dream kept stumbling. He struggled to catch his breath. He fainted, feeling like he was going to vomit. His arms trembled. What was happening to him? He was fine.
“Dream!” Blue ran over to his side and held him. He hovered his soul out of his chest. His golden apple was dim, more gray than gold. Dream breathed slowly. "Dream, you need to stop using your magic! You're hurting yourself, I got your back."
“No, I-” Dream sat up and fell over again. His head pounded. Even Error lowered his arms, looking surprised. Dream heaved. His eyelids felt heavy and he couldn’t keep them open. They coughed, leaning on Blue for support until his body couldn’t take it; he blacked out.
================================================
Dream woke up in his room, bundled under the blankets of his bed. Two pills rested by his coaster, white and red stripped. They weren't going to risk taking them. Dream took the water and pills and drank them down, noticing the bandages on his arms. His crown lay on the nightstand, his cape on a chair. His memory was a bit blurry, but he remembered Error, Blue, Core, and how he passed out trying to save the citizens.
Dream’s room was the best kept of the Star Senses. Every trinket, figurine, book, and flower had its place and he dusted every week. He always had a sweet-scented candle burning, changing the scent every week. But now, there was a new item that didn’t fit the room’s theme. A corkboard covered in a mess of sticky notes, strings, stickers, and papers. Red Xs crossed out the AUs they’d searched and monsters they had suspected to be allies to Nightmare. It was bigger and more easy to see than the clipboard. The book in front of it was titled ‘A Not-So-Simple Guide to the Doodlesphere’.
A vanilla spice candle burned as Dream attempted to stand up. His head immediately pounded and spun and he lay back down. Dream held his head. He felt better in his room than on the battlefield, but he felt it was because of more than the fight. Was he sick? He was seldom sick, especially not like this. The last time they felt so nauseous was when they caught the flu after first being freed from stone. That's also when they discovered modern medicine for the first time, not herbs or tea. It was the quite the shock.
Someone knocked on the door, two gentle taps. Dream looked up and whispered, "Come in."
Cross opened the door with a stoic look, but it turned into a smile once he saw he was awake. His left hand carried a glass of iced water. "Thank the stars you're alright. Blue told me about your magic burnout and it scared the hell out of me. Here, take these." He took the pills off the nightstand and gave them to Dream.
"Is that what happened? Thank you." Dream took the water and drank down the pills. It felt like heaven on his dry throat.
Cross sat on the stool in from of Dream's desk and watched him. Well, partially. "Cookie dough, are you okay?"
Cross looked back at him. “I'm just thinking. You're out of magic in the first place because you've been spending so much time searching for Ink. And I'm wondering if that's worth it. Have you ever considered . . . Ink wanted to be with Nightmare?”
Dream looked at him and raised a brow bone. “No. Ink would never do it by his own free will. He’s not the most moral person, yes. But he would never abandon us like this, especially not for Nightmare.”
“Ink would abandon you, it wouldn't be the first time he left his 'friends'.” Cross sighed. “I know what he’s like and I know what Nightmare’s gang is like. It’s chaotic, lawless, and he doesn’t need to worry about morals. It’s perfect for him. You said he was smiling with Nightmare, what if magic wasn't involved? Nightmare is charming and persuasive when he wants to be.” He stared off into the distance, his voice turned dark. “That’s how he got his hands on me.”
Dream looked up at Cross. He could imagine what it was like, to lose everything and everyone because of a single mistake. Then being near helpless as someone takes advantage of that. He knew Cross had a point, even if he refused to admit it. Yes, Ink would love and potentially thrive in a lawless environment. But not at the cost of his friends, right? Dream clutched his arms. Cross reached out and held his hands. His hands were bigger than Dream’s, rougher and scarred. “None of this is your fault, flower. But you can’t keep sacrificing your health to help Ink. Everyone is worried about you, I’m not the only one. You’re not even sleeping.”
Dream sighed. “Why does everyone keep asking me about how much I sleep? First Blue, then Core, now you.”
Cross pointed at the window and Dream stood up, walking through. He was a disheveled disaster. His eye lights were dim, darkened by the sullen bags underneath. And even by skeleton standards, he was pale. “Oh.”
“Exactly.” Cross picked up the picture frame with the three Star Sanses in it. “You’re stressing yourself out for someone who doesn’t need or deserve it. If you were the one kidnapped by Nightmare, would Ink spend this much effort trying to find you?”
Dream paused. That question never came to him either. “I . . . no. But I couldn’t live with myself if I stopped searching now. Especially if . . . if Ink dies because I can’t find him.”
Cross smiled and then frowned again. “That’s why I love you, you always value kindness. But you don’t have to give everyone your kindness and help. Some people don’t deserve it, and I think Ink is one of them.” He held Dream’s cheek and kissed him.
“Now get some rest. Those pills are going to make you tired and you need to heal.” Cross lay Dream back in bed, gently pushing him back down when he tried to touch his cheek. Dream’s laugh turned into a cough, Cross had a point. He felt awful, along with feeling the tiredness of the pills. Cross’s smile was the last thing he saw before falling drifting off.
================================================
For the second time that day, Dream woke up with a yawn. He still felt Cross’s phantom arms holding his hand, but now he wasn’t here. There wasn’t as much sunlight as when he fell asleep.
The pills seemed to work as while the heavy feeling was still there, he felt less empty. He could sit up without his head spinning. Cross left. Dream managed to climb out of bed and go downstairs. In the living room, Core stood with their eyes wide open, reflecting beams and stars.
"It's okay, you can do it! I believe in you!" Blue smiled, holding his fists in front of him. Core steadied their breathing. They adjusted their stance and gasped, jumping back. They mumbled something. Dream couldn't hear, but it made Blue frown.
"What are you guys doing?" Dream asked.
“Trying to locate Nightmare with my powers." Core rubbed their head. “That's . . . odd. They keep malfunctioning. Everything is blurry. Wait, let me try something.”
Core’s eyes changed into galaxies again and they hummed, speaking to themself through sounds. Dream bounced his foot on the ground as they did, only worrying more. Blue crossed his arms. Core blinked. “Okay, so my magic is working fine. It’s something on Nightmare’s side. He’s blocking me from seeing anything.”
“His shield . . .” Dream murmured to himself. He knew it was the same shield keeping him from sensing the team’s auras. The same one keeping his AU hidden, keeping him from Ink knowing if he was safe or even alive. He sighed in frustration, countering it with a deeper calming breath. “Can you track it?”
“I can’t. It’s too strong. Your brother is the second-strongest guardian after Error.”
Dream furrowed his browbones and thought for a moment. “Then I’ll find Error and get him to talk. I know how-”
“NO!” Blue and Core both said it at the same time. Blue stared at him, hands shaking. “Dream, we just fought Error yesterday! And look what he did to you! You passed out on the battlefield with a burning fever! Did you listen to a single word Cross said? I care about Ink too and I’m worried about him, but you need REST. We can’t lose you too!”
Dream’s eye sockets went wide. He never heard an outburst like that from Blue. He looked at Core for their thoughts, but they only nodded. “Blue is right. You need to be more careful. You’re running out of energy and magic."
The Guardian of Positivity looked between the two and sighed. "I suppose you're right. But I'll only rest until I recover. I don't want to stop searching for long."
"Three days," Blue said. "At least three days before you go back out, okay? We'll let you know if anything big happens!"
Dream nodded. "Okay."
================================================
Waiting for those next three days to end was painful. If it wasn’t for the pills, Dream doubted he would be able to sleep at all. He ate little and spent most of his time reading, anything to get his mind off Ink. He felt as if something horrible happened, but he also remembered Cross’s thoughts.
But those days eventually passed and Dream set off for the Anti-void. His bow was prepared and pre-loaded, carrying a full quiver of positivity arrows. He kept his bow on him in case something with wrong. They hoped they wouldn’t need to fight anyway, they still weren’t at full health.
Dream found the destroyer in his hammock, covering his head with a blue pillow. The pillow itself wasn’t blue, but it had a crocheted pillowcase over it. Error mumbled under his breath. “Shut up. You don’t know anything . . . sick of you stupid voices . . ."
Dream cleared their throat. “Error? Error! Down here!”
He ignored him, still mumbling to himself and trying to sleep on his hammock. He covered his head with the pillow.
The guardian humphed. Since his magic was too weak for him to teleport up there, he looked for another way to get his attention. His attention drew to blue strings. They looked close enough to hoops, however, they were too high for him to reach. Spare electric blue strings hung nearby. Dream looked at his bow and came up with a plan. He glanced between Error and the strings and the hoops, then he took a run for it.
Dream grabbed their bow off their back and grabbed the loose strings. Tying it around an arrow, he aimed and shot it through the loop of one of the hoops. It wrapped around and Dream leaped off the ground. He clung to the string like a lifeline and swung high until he reached the hoop. His hands barely grabbed on as Dream hung there. He told himself not to look down as pulled himself on the strings. His gloves helped him keep his grip. His boots not so much. Dream clung to the ropes tightly to hope not to fall. He was tempted to shoot Error with an arrow to get his attention.
“Error, here!”
Error looked shocked, finally noticing him past his chocolate bar. “How did you-”
“I climbed trees and vines all the time as a child.” Dream said, his legs trembling on the thin string. He stood on two to steady himself, pretending they were circus hoops, despite never using them. “How do you use these?”
Error blinked. “Not gonna lie, I’m impressed. But what the hell do you want? I’ve already dealt with one of you annoying apple twins.”
“Nightmare?”
“No, Lust.” He rolled his eye lights. “Obviously it’s Nightmare. We made a deal and I’m not telling you anything because I don’t want him to be pissed. Get out.”
“I came this far, I’m not turning back without a good reason.” Dream crossed his arms and waited for more from Error, but he didn't say anything. Likewise, Dream didn't speak back. It stayed silent until Dream took a look at his chocolate. It wasn’t the red Underfell chocolate Error usually had. It was purple with streaks of silver. “Where did you find that?”
“Your brother. I made a bet with him and he lost.” Error bit into the chocolate again. “So he changed his plan and now . . . I don’t actually know what he’s doing now. I don’t want to know either, it’s something with dresses.”
Dream narrowed his eye sockets. “Which AU?”
“Stitchtale.”
“Stitchtale, Stitchtale . . .” Dream muttered the word to themself over and over. Ink would know the AU in a heartbeat. They didn’t. “Can you take me there?”
Without looking at him, Error snapped his fingers and a portal appeared. Dream peered inside. It was an AU made of fabric, cotton, and soft materials, reminding him of a video game he played with Epic and Cross. Even matching the cuteness of the game. He ended up more confused than angry. This AU was positive . . .
Error shut the portal. He lay back in his hammock, staring at Dream. “Usually, I’d say go find the security footage or receipt from the shop. But A, I don’t give enough of a shit, and B, I don’t know where he got those. The only thing I know is that Ink wasn’t in there or in the AU.”
“Sweet monarch," Dream cursed under his breath. He hoped Stitchtale would be where Ink was kept.
Error shrugged, glaring at him. “You need to figure out how to swear like a normal person one of these days. It's almost as annoying as these voices . . ." He looked around the Anti-void with the same scowl.
Dream opened his mouth to offer advice, but then he closed it again. "Well . . . I'll take your advice and um, I hope you get better." Dream turned around and walked away, only one question on his mind.
What was Nightmare doing in Stitchtale?

Heyyyy u undertale au angst demons I have ur lab angst foood it'll get even tastier too ;)
Killer by @/rahafwabas
Dust by @/ask-dusttale
Z by me :)
Killer was angry at himself. He hated the feeling of urgency that he had to save Cross. Why would he do that? He's an emotionless piece of corrupted determination trash whose main and probably only use is being a killer dog with rabies.
Cross was right. Cross was right and they didn't believe him. How could they, when what he was saying sounded like total nonsense. If the boss was defeated, something is seriously wrong. That was proven already.
Cross doesn't have an au anymore. That makes him an "outcode", right? That meant he was in danger. Z said something about outcodes, he thought.
Cross isn't his little little brother- no. Fuck. He's only had one brother, and he's long dead. Because of him, even. This "little brother" feeling for Cross feels like shit and he hates it. But… it's there and he can't really do anything about it. Suppressing it seems to make it stronger for some reason.
He was kind of stuck right then, though. At least he was not in total silence. Dust was on the table on the other side of the room, mumbling incoherently in a panic attack and occasionally bursting out in angry screams. At least those "voices" came while he was restrained…? There was a somewhat relieving feeling for being retrained. Because of… his own issues. But right then, he needed to get out.
Killer turned to look at Dust, trembling and quietly sobbing. He is no help right now.
Usually it isn't too hard for him to get out of restraints. But this? The metal around his arms and torso, then his wrists, then his legs and ankles felt like they were molded to his body. He couldn't budge.
"BITCH ASS HOE MOTHER FUCKER I'M GONNA KILL YOUR BITCH ASS!!" He knew Z could hear it. But the continued silence aside from Dust's mumbles only fed his infuriation. "I KNOW YOU CAN HEAR ME YOU FUCKIN PIECE OF SHIT!" …. "SHIT EATING BITCH FUCKER!!"
More of… nothing.
"Asshole bitch" He said, looking up at one of the cameras on the ceiling. Many colorful ways of killing Z came to mind which made Killer smile.

One more… "bitch ass"... he said with a grin.
Okay one more actually. "Shitty ass fucker!!!"
He had to hold back a flinch when the automatic slide door opened. "I think you need a bigger vocabulary."
Killer pressed everything he had against the restraints. "I'M GONNA FUCKING KILL YOU!!"
Z doesn't spare Killer a look. Killer has to strain his eyes to see him at a counter by the door he entered from.
"Your gonna be in fucking shreds so quick you'll already be fucking dust before your ass actually starts dusting!"
Z looked up at Killer and approached him. He hadn't noticed the damp sensation on his face until Z was looking down at him curiously. Way too close for comfort. Killer gnashed his teeth at him. "Oh my God you're like an angry wild kitten." Z put his fingers over his mouth to shield his glee.
"Fuck you I'm your worst n-" Z interrupted him when he took the dull end of a knife to scoop off a sample of the black liquid on his face. He wasn't startled enough to not try to bite him, though. "-NIGHTMARE- I'm your worst nightmare!! Don't touch me jackass!!"
Z snickered then scraped the black liquid inside the rim of a small beaker. He put a cap on it and set it on the counter.
Dust's mumbling became rapidly louder which turned their attention towards him. A "stop" or "I can't" or "no" along with much more slurred words that are harder to translate. The mumbles became speaking, then yelling and crying. Z decided to do something about it. "NO! no- NO"
Z rushed over to the thrashing Dust and pulled an air mask over his face.
"The fuck are you doing to him!?!" Killer shouted when he saw Dust stop moving.
Z peered over at Killer. "Chill out. It's anesthesia." Z unlocked one of Dust's wrists and held it up to show Killer it was bleeding. His thrashing and the metal restraints were making him injure himself.
Killer went quiet. A relief to Z's hearing.
Did he just…
Killer's confusion was giving him a worse headache than he already was having.
Z locked Dust's wrist back up then grinned at Killer. "Healthier subjects means more accurate test results!"
Oh fuck this. Fuck him.
"Your a fucking ass bitch fuck I hate you. You're gonna fucking die because I'll KILL YOU FUCKER!!"
Silence gone, Z sighed. "Come up with more insults, please."
"Hehe no you fucking suck and you're an asshole."
Z ignored him, picking up the beaker with the sample of Killer's corruption in it. He left the room.
As Z left, Killer yelled at him: "Where's Horror, you ass!? You better not touch him! Don't you dare touch any of them!! I'LL KILL YOU!!" The door slides shut.
