7. three songs you didn’t expect to like but eventually loved

beware - death grips one of my friends was like hey, you listen to some odd shit, give these guys a listen. i thought it was ok, but not something i'd listen to on my own. like 6 months after that the death grips fan in me awoke like the winter soldier and now i can't stop.

are you with that? - vince staples i was really disappointed with this whole album at first. summertime '06 is maybe a top 10 for me, so it initially felt like he was just phoning it in on this one. i was so wrong though, i've really come to appreciate vince's new style.

god's plan - chvrches one of my friends from whom i steal music all the time looooves chvrches, but i could never get into them. he tried so hard to find a song of theirs i'd like and eventually gave up and sent me his least favorite. well, about that...

Valentina, Alaska e Gottmik: The Realness Festival 2024 anuncia line-up completo com estrelas de 5 países

Maior festival drag da América Latina traz ao Brasil nomes globais do universo "Drag Race"

O The Realness Festival, o maior festival drag da América Latina, está chegando em sua terceira edição com um line-up ainda mais internacional. O evento acontece na noite de 6 de julho na Audio Club, em São Paulo.

O festival celebra o fato da franquia de RuPaul ter ganhado versões em diversos países, fazendo a arte drag atravessar fronteiras. Serão estrelas de 5 países diferentes, incluindo o Brasil, já que nossa versão local do programa estreou esse ano e foi um enorme sucesso já em sua primeira temporada.

Segundo Paulo Matos, criador do evento, o processo de escolha do line é feito através de muita escuta com os fãs do programa e da arte drag: "Nós sempre ouvimos os fãs, sempre damos preferência as drags mais pedidas por eles, as que ainda não fizeram shows no Brasil e as que já fizeram, mas são lendárias e não podem faltar."

O The Realness Festival é um evento imperdível para os fãs de RuPaul's Drag Race e da arte drag em geral. Os ingressos estão à venda no site Sympla.

Valentina

Ela popularizou o termo "fan favorite" durante sua primeira passagem pelo programa e até hoje, é uma das queens mais populares entre os fãs.

Filha de pais mexicanos, sua drag sempre foi uma forma de ressaltar e enaltecer sua ascendência latina. Com uma carreira consolidada, Valentina já estampou capas de revista, participou de musicais e se tornou uma das anfitriãs da versão mexicana do show, o "Drag Race México".

Pela segunda vez no Brasil, ela não nega seu carinho e admiração pelo nosso país.

Alaska

A headliner do 'The Realness Festival 2022' está de volta para mais um show e quem esteve na primeira participação dela no festival, pode comprovar: o ato de Alaska não deixa ninguém parado.

Cheia de hits na conta, ela é uma das drags do programa, que mais fez sucesso em sua empreitada musical. Além de ter sido um dos personagens mais cativantes do reality, desde sua primeira aparição na 5ª temporada até sua coroação na final do "All Stars 2", onde ela dominou a competição.

Gottmik

Se tem uma artista que representa bem uma empolgante nova geração de drags, essa artista é Gottmik. Ela fez história ao ser o primeiro homem assumidamente trans a participar do programa, na 13ª temporada, onde colecionou uma legião de fãs.

Além disso, Gottmik também já tinha uma carreira invejável como maquiadora, onde trabalhou com estrelas do nível de Paris Hilton, Adam Lambert, Lil Nas X e até com nossa estrela brasileira, Pabllo Vittar.

Monét X Change

Embarcado pela primeira vez ao Brasil, Monét é uma das queens mais queridas pelos fãs. Apesar de ter entrado na franquia em temporadas mais recentes, ela figura como uma das mais lendárias drags do show. Afinal, ela participou de três temporadas, sendo 'miss simpatia' em sua primeira aparição, se tornando vencedora na primeira coroação dupla do programa e sendo finalista na temporada especial só de vencedoras.

Natural de Nova York, ela é conhecida por suas habilidades em comédia, performance e canto, ou seja: promete um espetáculo no palco do festival.

Keiona

Keiona Revlon alçou ao estrelato ao participar da terceira temporada do reality show americano 'Legendary'. Ela é uma queen das pistas de 'ballroom', um fenômeno cultural LGBTQI+ que surgiu nos anos 80, onde pessoas da comunidade, especialmente pessoas trans e pretas, se juntavam em bailes para dançar 'vogue' e celebrar sua excelência.

Nascida em Paris, Keiona participou da segunda temporada do "Drag Race França", logo após ficar em terceiro lugar no primeiro reality que esteve. Agora sozinha na competição, ela conseguiu o feito de ser a única queen que permaneceu entre as melhores em todos os episódios, ganhando a coroa em uma final histórica.

Do you have any favorite queens? Do you know of Pabllo Vittar?

I do know of Pabllo! I haven't listened to like a ton of their music but I love the song they put out with Rina Sawayama.

I've been an Adore stan since before she was on Drag Race. Everyone stream Dirty Laundry!

I also stan Ocean Kelly hardcore and I want everyone to stream her music, now, and not just those M C U parodies. Black Pamela is a genius album and Aquarium 51 is an underrated treasure.

In terms of Drag Race, I am from Boston so I always get up for Juju and Katya-- who, fun fact, I went to the same school as. In terms of recent seasons, I loved Symone and Gigi and I hope we see more folks from the House of Avalon in the future. Just going down the roster of winners, I'd say that Raja, Jinkx, Monet, Shea and Jaida are some of my faves.

I've never been to Chicago but the drag scene there looks incredible. I've been a LO•TI•ON fan since her tumblr era and there are just a lot of cool artists in that circle.

Just to give a couple more local shoutouts-- I know that Briar Blush and Rusty Hammer put on really cool shows, and Haus of Oni does horror movie screenings w/drag performances which is great for my goth girlies.
