Overview

The Ghoul Liberation Army is an Insurgent Group born from resentment against Kino in the Raven Group

The GLA is led by its commander, a man whose name is only known through his title of Tarkhan

Currently engaging both Raven Group loyalists as well as Karlheinz's soldiers in active combat

Is provided material and financial support by the Adler Union.

Could be said to be the first armed group in Makai to use firearms

Government

The GLA is an armed insurgency and thus operates less as a conventional government and more as a military unit with civilian populations under its control.

Administrative positions are generally unelected due to this.

Additionally, due to the Ghoul Liberation Army encompassing a wide variety of Ghoul Movements from different geographical and cultural areas, the organization as a whole is quite decentralized with it being best described as a big tent organization.

However, the main brass of the organization does project and espouse socialist ideals, especially those that are reminiscent of either Arab Socialist or Left-Tridemist ideals in the human world.

Recently the government has committed to a drive to conscript its populace for the sake of the GLA's war against those it views to be oppressors.

you jolt when you see him suddenly appear behind you in the reflection of the mirror that you're sitting in front of. a gentle gasp falls from between your pretty lips as you whirl around quickly to look at him, eyes widening like a doe caught in headlights. you ease up quickly, realizing that it's just him; you sigh the words under your breath as you deflate a little bit, coming down from the brief bit of adrenaline you must have felt with him scaring you like that. 

goodness, aren't you just so delicate? it’s a damn shame hobie's not supposed to go falling for a human. not supposed to.

he smirks, "sorry, love. didn't mean to scare you li' that," he says easy, stepping forward until he's a few feet in front of you, looking down at you, looking up at him. your eyes are glimmering under the artificial light of the lamp settled next to the mirror. he thinks that even in such dodgy lighting, your eyes and soft expression are still utterly enrapturing. the soft, charming glow that the light provides to your features draws a pleased hum from hobie.

Thoughts on Scavengers Reign and “adult animation”

Just brain vomiting here bc the different “age tiers” of animated shows was a thing I was thinking on the other day and also this show whips absolute ass.

But yeah so, I was thinking about the whole “adults who get waaay too into animated children’s shows and try to make demands of it that fall outside the target audience.” I’m an adult that enjoys cartoons most likely more than the standard 30-something. Part of it is a love of the medium of animation and everything it can do, but also, cartoons are fun. But ultimately, the vast majority of them are Made for Kids and that’s a limitation you just have to accept or otherwise you become one of Those Adult Fans of Kids Cartoons that are deranged.

And I was thinking like, “ok so adults can always watch Adult Cartoons, but what even are those?” Family Guy and it’s innumerable imitators? Not saying there’s not an audience for those but they’re not fulfilling what I’m looking for, which is an interesting ongoing narrative.

Enter Scavengers Reign. It’s exactly what I’ve been wanting, a beautifully animated show with a compelling story and characters that is meant for adults, which means it can fully push the envelope of things like body horror, complex themes, extremely merited cussing given the situations our protagonists find themselves in, etc.

While obviously I can’t speak for the entirety of Cartoon Enjoyers That Are Adults, this show really feels like it captures what a lot of us like about cartoons while also fully embracing that it is Meant for an Adult Audience and I dunno, it’s just really fucking good. It’s beautiful and fucked up and so very smart and god I wish there was more stuff like it out there.
