The Meeting- Sneak Peek

After being Ari's one and only, it's only natural to meet the most important woman in his life.

You bite your lips nervously, fingers drumming against your leg as you stare out the window of the best up truck. The houses are rushing by in a blur, though you can see the street ahead and know time is running out. Despite Sarah and Ari being on good terms, you're still terrified to officially meet her- especially knowing their complicated history. Ari's constant missions and workaholic tendencies tend to interfere with a lot of your time together, but being paired together has allowed more freedom in the relationship that Sarah never had. You can't help but worry about the future, if Sarah doesn't approve of you being near her daughter, or if Maya doesn't like you, or-

"Get out of your head, pretty girl." A large hand takes yours, bringing it to scruffy lips, and you blink out of my thoughts and smile as Ari briefly meets your eyes. “Stop being so nervous, they’re going to love you.”

“Will they?” You raise your eyebrows at him. “It’s your ex-wife, who could think I’m going to try and replace her… Not to mention Maya…”

I really hope your money comes very soon!

And if it isn't there by tomorrow, maybe call wherever you have the bill and tell them you're waiting for your money and you'll pay as soon as you're able to. Also maybe contact the financial department of your employer in that case, at least if they can tell you when your pay will be there.

Darcy sniffled again, bringing her hand up to cover her mouth as she coughed. “Sorry,” she said for the billionth time.

“You don’t have to keep apologizing, Darce,” Steve reminded her. “It’s not your fault that you’re sick.”

“I know, but I ruined our date night,” she whined, poking out her bottom lip.

“Listen, I know how to save it,” he replied, rising to his feet and heading out to the kitchen. “Let me show you my special recipe for hot cocoa.” He began to pull out ingredients and she snorted when she saw the instant cocoa packet.

“Your secret recipe? You sure it’s not the intellectual property of some anonymous milk maid in Switzerland?”

He laughed. “Okay yeah. I know it’s Swiss Miss, but I add extra marshmallows.”

Battle of the Christmas Lights? Or The Boxing Day Sale rush?

Newly single, Darcy isn’t feeling the Christmas spirit this year. She can’t afford to visit her family for the holidays and even if she could, just the thought of everyone’s sympathetic looks and assurances that ‘you’ll find someone, don’t worry,’ is enough to make her glad she’s staying home.

She’s got just enough Christmas spirit to put up a tree and a single string of lights in her front window but that’s it. Not that it matters, because her neighbours on both sides seem to be having an all out war with their Christmas decorations... it started with a few strings of lights and quickly escalated into blow-up santas, glow-in-the-dark reindeer - even penguins! Both houses are covered in lights, there’s no room left of their front lawns to even tiptoe, and just last night, one of them added a laser light show.

Not that Darcy’s complaining, because both her neighbours are drop dead gorgeous and she gets to watch every climb up a ladder, every bend over to push a stake into the ground, and every sweater-lifting, peek-of-skin-revealing stretch to hang something off something else.

And then they both approach her (separately), asking if they can do some decorating of her house. She’s not about to say no.

When Darcy is going off at Gen/Sen. Ross! Steve leans back in the office chair trying oh so hard to keep from smiling and smirking at said person being racked over the fire!!! In his head that's my wife, that's my wife little Stevie says!

Steve’s eyes dance with mirth as Darcy lays into Ross again, her arms moving with purpose, eyes stern as she glares down at him.

His concentration breaks, a barely there snort leaves him and the whole room turns to look at Steve. 

“Do you have something to say about this kind of behavior?” Ross asks, irritation dripping with every word. 

“Not at all.” Steve says, his eyes boring into Ross. “If anything, she’s going easy on you.” 

Internally, Steve’s screaming. He absolutely loves that Darcy’s lack of filter is letting her let loose in what would normally be a calm meeting. 

Darcy smirks, Norns know she loves this man. “Thanks, Stevie.” 

“He’s not wrong.” Tony pipes up from the other end of the table. “Feel free to turn it up to 11, Lewis.”

It was oddly quiet when you entered the small house, kicking off your shoes and listening for Sy's telltale music he plays when working on his latest project. The house you both bought was a bit of a fixer upper, but you knew when you laid eyes on it that it would be perfect, Sy immediately taking a liking to having projects to occupy him when he's home. Lately it's been finishing a task at a time, and he had spent the entire week talking about finally finishing the master bedroom and his plans for the next job.

Sighing to yourself, you toe your shoes off and head to the spare room you had been sleeping in while the master was in disarray, wanting nothing more than to change into comfortable clothes and relax on the couch. You were admittedly a bit disappointed, having been looking forward to spending the rest of the day with your captain, but the thought immediately goes out the window when you see the obvious lack of clothing in the opened wardrobe. You frown and turn to check somewhere before hearing a crash and Sy's gruff voice cursing.

"Sy? Is everything ok?" Your brows furrow as you turn the corner, immediately having to bite back a laugh as you see him shaking a foot next to the end table that you moved that morning, but the sight of him juggling a large bouquet of peonies and an extra-large pizza box from your favorite local shop. "Aww..."

He grumbles a bit, a tint of pink teasing his cheeks from above his beard. "You weren't supposed to be home yet..." He sets the pizza on the counter, wrapping an arm around you and kissing you softly. "Happy birthday little one."

You blush, smiling shyly as you accept the peonies. "You're too sweet," You kiss his cheek, smiling as you put them in a vase. "Were you trying to surprise me, captain?"

Sy grumbles a bit at your teasing, chest puffing a bit as he crosses his arms, following your every move with his eyes. "Don't rub it in, I was tryin' to spoil my girl." He wraps his arms around you from behind, kissing your neck. "Why don't you take a nice hot bath, get in your pjs, and we can open some beers and watch your movies... As a start," You feel his grin against your skin.

You hum, relaxing against his strong chest. "Thought you hated them?"

"I do," He kisses across your shoulder, letting his beard tease you. "But I love seein' my girl happy more."

"So the captain really <i>does</i> have a soft side..." You can't help but grin, turning in his arms to hold him close. "That sounds perfect... Thank you."

"Just for you." He grins, kissing you deeply as his large hand squeezes your rear. "Get dressed, baby. It's gonna be a long night, you won't be able to move once I'm through with you."

You flush a bit, shaking your head as you head towards the stairs and feeling his gaze on you. "You just want to stare at my ass."

"'Course I do," He smirks when you blindly flick him off, still focused on the sway of your hips. "The rest is a bonus."

I wanted to ask you since I woke up this morning but I wasn't sure if you were up yet. So I need to ask like WTH did I wake up too this morning with the whole AB and NOW HE'S A PAT! Not sure how I feel about it? I mean concerned and worried is up there?

After all the drama in Oakland, I’m not sure how I feel about it either. I will say this though, I don’t think he will get away with the drama in New England, I honestly don’t think it will be tolerated.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks.

I have a slight cold, feeling drained and very tired temp feels okay but it's like a slight chill. Most of this is from spending over 1hr in wet shoes!
