one convenient thing about this site is that most changes to the collective sense of humor are announced via a series of viral posts in which our resident killjoys unceremoniously declare a joke to be "over" and "never funny in the first place", something they have usually been trying to do since the moment they caught wind of the latest festivities but generally don't succeed in until the novelty has worn off among our largest demographic: people who are terrified of being cringe.
at first glance this seems like an obvious recipe for toxicity, but fortunately we also have a healthy population of passionate Things Enjoyers balancing this out, and the hater to creator ratio has achieved a relatively stable state ever since the twitter exodus of 2017 shocked the platform into an ecosystem reset.
the real question is whether this balance is resilient enough to adjust for an influx of new users fleeing both twitter AND reddit in rapid succession. the lack of detrimental impact so far is certainly promising, but residents in particularly vulnerable parts of the site ('respectable' fandoms, discourse-prone mutual circles, people with strong feelings about taylor swift, etc.) are advised to take precautionary measures in the coming weeks

thinking about supernaturals circular narrative. how i don’t (and won’t) watch sitcoms because of the conventions of a circular narrative.
the parallels of how characters are reduced into one-dimensional imitations of who the audience perceived them to be, boiled down into their most defining, dividing traits— a phenomenon exclusive to the intrinsic nature of sitcoms. thinking about how everything that is learnt in one episode, is forgotten in the next— how there is no progress, how there is no change and everything will always, always stay the same for the sake of the audience where nothings new.
part of why dean felt he wouldve been better off dead, about why he didnt deserve to be saved, was because he could never make any difference. how they were trapped by the same story, over and over again, that nothing mattered no matter what he did, because he'd just end up in the very same position he was 15 years ago. even before the insertion of chuck's storyline, before freewill, the pervasive hand of the writers have always held them down from the very first episode

Harley: Do you want me to make you a boyfriend too? Based on your several previous comments it would be Jason's head on Frank's body with Hazel’s height and Piper's personality.
Leo: Or vice versa!

it’s like a personality test for someone to watch pacific rim and see whether they fixate on newt or hermann i think. and like don’t get me wrong i love them both and i can definitely see why a person would go crazy over newt but there’s no competition for me for my fav, hermann just gets under my skin in a way newt doesn't. i don’t know what your fav actually says about you btw i just think it’s interesting

okay i have to ask, have you seen my favorite starkid musical (starship) yet? i must say i really don't like the hatchetfield ones but i ought to disclaim i haven't even seen nerdy prudes for dissatisfaction with tgwdlm and black friday so my judgement is probably inaccurate. starship is near and dear to my heart though as well as twisted because I ❤️ DYLAN SAUNDERS 4EVER (i need that on a t-shirt) and also have you seen little white lie? genuinely prepare yourself for the craziest audio quality you've ever heard and an almost unsettlingly young little set of starkids
omg i've been meaning to watch starkid, i've seen so many clips that have ended up in my vocabulary (THEN I'LL SHOOT EM!), it seems so fun and also joe walker looks like solid snake through the entirety of it which is really funny
