I feel like tags like these were inevitable on the post about people traumatising themselves for the greater good or w/e... There is SO much emphasis on posting on tumblr and other social media being so important and so useful and we must never stop. But I would like to counterargue with the idea that posting on social media (especially tumblr) constantly does very little/nothing. If that was true then the point here becomes meaningless.

#i guess i must be broken according to this person because i don't seem to feel emotions the way they feel helps palestine #activists in palestine are also calling for a general strike where no one goes to work and that has yet to materialise in a meaningful way #because people keep watering it down by saying 'oh it's ok just post constantly/about nothing else than palestine on social media' #yeah awesome great- look i'm sure there are people in palestine saying get the word out about our suffering etc #but they are also calling for more meaningful symbolic gestures like strikes which as far as I know no western country has delivered #because that would take a lot of organising and much less guilt tripping and people spending all their time posting #and comfort always comes up- comfort and discomfort- what even is comfort? #is feeling ok in your own mind an insult to palestine? #are there people losing everything in wars feeling better because someone in the west feels really really bad about their pain? #like sorry to be facetious but what on earth does any of this rhetoric accomplish #i spent years thinking like this and it made me so sick and now i'm better i am DONE with it- i cannot go back to this thinking #i can only live if i bend away from this kind of thinking like a plant to light- and i want to help others but people just won't stop #please- post on social media if you like. it doesn't help anyone to view the depths of their pain and feel bad #it is better to look towards hope a ceasefire and a resolution and end to the killing of palestinians for good #that can happen!!! #i think avoiding misinformation and dehumanising rhetoric about either side is also very important #i fully believe you can only understand geopolitics and war if you see everyone as human

I was wondering if you or your mutuals have any advice on how to improve my level of media literacy? I don't even know if that's the right term for what I mean. I seem to consume TV shows or books or films at a very surface level compared to others. I just accept all the dialogues and events at face-value, and don't realise the subtext or patterns unless they are really obvious. I then go on social media and read other people's interpretations and think "oh I see yeah that makes sense". But I wish I could do this type of analysis myself. Is there some course or something I can take? I've been steadily increasing the amount of literature/media I consume of the past couple of years but I haven't noticed any improvement in the way I'm engaging with them, so it doesn't seem like "it'll come with time and practice", I feel I need to take some active steps to learn...

hi! i will freely admit to consulting with @hattalove on this one bc she has two literature degrees and i feel like i mostly learned by being forced to write seven thousand compare & contrast essays in high school

but here are some things we came up with:

there's a lot of good videos on literary analysis on youtube, if you're interested in specifically the theory part

kris also recommended a book called how to read literature like a professor by thomas foster, which i will also be checking out bc it looks very interesting and once again i mostly osmosed through all the comparing and contrasting

theory will help you identify and name things you might already have noticed, but not been able to conceptualise

e.g. with this particular episode, knowing about the concept of an unreliable narrator makes it easier to read buck as one

similarly with the eddie/pepa talk in the previous one & dramatic irony

and once you have the concepts, you can start looking for them in the things you read. start with something you've read many times, something you love, and try to think about how it works.

start asking why: why did this character do this? why did the author tell me this detail?

what is the function? is it moving the plot along? developing a character? developing a theme? is it foreshadowing?

why did 6x13 show us buck together with eddie and chris so much? so that in 6x14 we'd know that something is up when eddie and pepa talk about eddie being alone.

why did eddie say that dating victims never works out when buck brings up natalia at marie's grave? to signal that natalia is only a detour on buck's journey, not the destination.

and yes, we've all seen the tumblr post about how sometimes the curtains are blue just because they author likes the colour blue. and sometimes they are! but sometimes the fact that they're blue might mean something

lit analysis (& by extension tv/film analysis) is essentially about drawing connections between things and (importantly!) backing up those connections with things from the text

and most of the time, there's no one right answer. most of the time, things can be read in several ways. so even if someone has one interpretation, if you can show receipts (so to speak) you can have a different interpretation, and neither of you is more or less correct.

speaking of interpretation -- this is only my view (with input from kris), and if anyone else has other tips or tricks please chime in!

(I'm not the anon who has been sending you asks) I have a moderate intellectual disability, Please try to use simple language if possible. and Please be kind I am genuinely confused. I am confused why everyone is only listening to Tay. Because I agree that you can't self diagnose profound or severe intellectual disability. It would be diagnosed in childhood. But why not mild to moderate? I have known people that learned they have a mild to moderate intellectual disability later in life, in adulthood, either by self diagnosis or by seeing a doctor. Usually they dropped out of school and have struggled a lot in life because they didn't get help as a kid. I don't think their experience is any less valid than mine (I was diagnosed as a kid). And none of them self diagnosed it or suspected it to be an authority on intellectual disability, they don't even bring it up on social media, they're not into discourse.I am understanding it as he is saying don't self diagnosis intellectual disability at all, which I don't think is nice to lots of people. I know I am worlds apart from Tay, I don't claim to understand his experience. But I still have an intellectual disability. And so do those people. I feel upset that Tay says not to self diagnosis it, Because it hurts the people I know that had to. You have to be in a bad situation to need to self diagnose an intellectual disability. People who do it genuinely aren't trying to hurt anyone. They're people who are struggling and are left behind by the medical field.So I feel confused because I see posts that say "I am listening to Tay and other ID people." But I don't feel listened to. I feel really ignored. Though I never said anything publicly because I don't like posting about my ID. Because I don't want to be seen as only a blogger with ID.But I'm still confused because I think Tay should talk about having a profound intellectual disability, but I don't get why he can talk about mild to moderate intellectual disability if he doesn't have it mild or moderate. I am understanding it like a level 3 autistic person trying to talk about what it's like to be a level 1 autistic person (or level 1 trying to talk about what it's like to be level 3). I am listening to the people that I actually know and trust, not a stranger on the internet. The reason people are listening to Tay is because he is a well known and trusted source that has been here for years. Also what he says agrees with medical science and if you're saying that it can be self diagnosed, you aren't agreeing with medical science.

Intellectual disability is the same as my muscular dystrophy in that it's a lifechanging diagnosis and requires special testing to diagnose. You can suspect you have it, but you can't actually say you're intellectually disabled until you actually go through the testing.

The kind of people who get missed usually get diagnosed in prison or institutions or they die very VERY young the way Tay almost did. It's offensive and hurtful that people go "well I struggle sometimes so I'm intellectually disabled" when all the people I know who are diagnosed with even mild ID are NOTHING like them and have completely different struggles.

I don't want to hear from you again. You and people from your blog have been sending a lot of hurtful messages and I'm tired of listening to people who hurt my friends.

Hoping you can help me. I'm in Australia and have seen the trailer for Obsession - obviously. But... it's different slightly to the trailer on youtube. The trailer when viewed through the Netflix app and on the TV through Netflix is slightly more tame, if you know what I mean - just a couple of things chopped out and replaced by other snippets. A friend in the US is the same, tamer version on the TV. Can you check with your Netflix in NZ and see please. Much appreciated.

it's the same in NZ - the trailer that is actually on Netflix itself is significantly more censored than the one they've posted online (YouTube etc.)

my guess is that they needed a more *ahem* 'appropriate' version for Netflix because I could imagine this could easily be an R18+ (or R16+ at the least)... the trailer needs to be a lot more PG on their page so teens trawling around the Netflix app for their next show don't chance upon any super explicit scenes. especially because on the Netflix NZ app no rating or warnings are currently displayed for it

whereas it's a lot easier on other sites like YouTube to either ensure only mature audiences watch/ensure enough warnings are in place that Netflix doesn't get stung for accidentally showing mature content to younger audiences. these social media sites have a much better protective system for mature content related to teen users - Netflix itself only really has effective maturity settings for much younger children

Merriam-Webster defines "blog" as a website that contains online personal opinions, replies/comments/feedbacks, videos, pictures posted by the writer. Now although the very first blogging site could be traced from the year 1994, by a journalist named Justin Hall, it wasn't really seen as one since it was simply listed as a personal homepage. (Rioja, A. 2020)

"Is blogging still relevant when Instagram, TikTok and YouTube have been on the rise?"

Okay~ so... a quick intro on what these three holy trinity of vlogging, pictures and short videos are, TikTok is a social media platform that allows you to post short videos from 15 seconds to 3 minutes long, some going as far as 10 minutes. Because it allows you to also post stories, it is considered Instagram "lite" by some. People post fan edits, original skits, repost of other viral content from other platforms, and it has gain a lot of traction during the Covid-19 pandemic. Instagram is a platform for sharing photos, videos with anyone, as long as there's engagement, your content will get views and likes, it is the same as YouTube, although YouTube had been around much longer.

To answer the question, if you ask me, blogging is still very relevant in 2023. So many people, from writers, students, teachers, fans, business owners to organizations continues the usage of blogging sites. To think a few, other than Tumblr, Twitter or now known as X, Facebook, and Weibo, which is the Chinese version of X (Twitter), Cyworld, a now defunct Korean blogging platform, are some of the microblogging platforms these people used to share tip bits of their lives, brands, engaging with their audience through replies, likes, reposting and sharing their content, and obviously it is also used to improve their online presence. Now other social media platforms like Douyin, TikTok, YouTube has gain a significant amount of popularity, but written content and blogging remains an essential part of online communication, branding and marketing.

According to Rheingold. H, 1993, "Virtual communities are social aggregations that emerge from the Net when enough people carry on […] public discussions long enough, with sufficient

human feeling, to form webs of personal relationships in cyberspace” so that is what blogging actually does, it helps us form our ideas and create a safe space for the rest of us to show sides that other platforms would judge us for. For example, in my opinion, blogging platforms like Tumblr or Twitter, aka X can be a space for me to express my interest, particularly horror movies, movie analysis, movie reviews, anime, cosplay, fanarts where in spaces like Twitter (X), I get to make personal comments and engage with my mutuals with their replies through my Inner Circle without having other people who are not my followers or close friends seeing it. Comment sections in sites like TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, while it can be private, it is only private if the post is private so when you leave a comment on a public account, people still get to see your comment and visit your profile, so it doesn't really offer that sense of anonymity like Tumblr or X (Twitter).

Other than that, blogs can be totally customizable to your likings! I'm personally a Royalcore type of person, therefore Tumblr or Wordpress offers me the freedom to customize my username, my layouts, the fonts I can use to make it more aesthetically pleasing. And again, blogging is still around and will always be around because people love sharing thoughts, love to tell their tales in an intricate manner with their writing style to engage with their followers. And getting responses from people who visit your blogs, and/or proceeds to follow you afterwards is actually a huge boost for a blogger's self esteem.

In conclusion, a person who blogs, is called a blogger. Some do it on a daily basis, some do it on a weekly, monthly basis or whenever they feel like it. It is still so very common for content creators and influencers, take TikTok food and lifestyle content creator Emily Mariko who updates her newsletter/blog on her lifestyle to updates on her engagement, wedding, and more for her followers. So. Is it still a thing? Yes. Yes it is!

You know what pisses me off? People were so trigger-happy to criticize Tessa about everything and anything, especially "not standing up for causes hard enough" in their view. But now that she took a very brave stance on something very important against a country that's capable of doing fucked up shit, what are we hearing from her supposed "fans" who "only want her to be doing something worthwhile in the world"? Crickets. Yeah. If you're gonna criticize, you should be able to praise as well. Surprise, surprise - it was never about the causes, it was about hating a woman because she wasn't dating a man they were all horny about (let's unpack that logic separately, shall we?). Fucking insanity and hypocrisy across the board.

You're not wrong....but I would also point out that Tessa's stances on big political issues are....tame and safe at the very least. She posted a cup with a rainbow that says Love Wins, that's hardly the same as protesting or being vocal on SM with actual links and calling attention to the unjust surrounding these issues. She does the bare minimum.

However....she's publicly addressed this before and stated that she doesn't always believe social media is the right platform to address issues like this. That sometimes listening before speaking is the better path. is that a cop out? Yeah it is but its also her own personal belief and she has herself and her brand to protect - in instances like this they go hand in hand whether we like it or agree with it.

At the end of the day - anyone's issue with a celebrities lack or over zealous desire to wade or not wade into any political issue, is their own fight not a fans. Because for all those people attacking Tessa for not speaking up on these issues...what are they doing? Are they posting about it? Are the protesting? Are they donating? The answer is very likely no they're not. And for the same cop out that Tessa takes, so do fans by toting the narrative that because celebrities have a platform they should be the ones to speak on these issues. And my response to that is, if a celebrity has to tell you what issues to care about than you're the problem not them.

But Tessa has always taken a stance in one way or another - she's not very vocal about it - she keeps her gestures small. But she's always been in support of the LGBTQI+ community - she's participated in Pride a few times. She signed off on a letter to allow same sex figure skating teams. She's participated in auctions and charities that benefit women and help women, she donated her money from the Canadian Walk of Fame to a women's shelter in London. She does participate in activism she just does it at her own pace and in her own way.

So your point about this fandom being a bunch of hypocrite assholes (my words) still stands, but Tessa has never been able to please this fandom in anyway unless she's doing one thing and one thing only.

Up until now I have been fortunate enough to only ever get lovely comments on my fics, but there is a first for everything.

Honestly, if you ever read one of my fics and think the characters aren't acting canonically, there may be a reason for that. Sometimes I am trying to explore a different scenario. Other times, the particular character I was writing, didn't even have his route out yet.

Going out of your way to be like "this character was never how you wrote it", is kinda hurtful. I understand that sticking to the characters is important, but headcanons exist, you know?

I honestly don't understand leaving a long ass comment explaining to me how the things I wrote don't match the character. Damn, it's longer than most of the positive comments I get!

That is not to say, don't ever leave a comment unless you're going to gush about my fic. Criticism is good and necessary, but please be nice about it, and think about why you want to leave that comment.

In this particular case, if they had only looked at the date the fic was posted, they would've known it was written before his route was out. We only had his PV in Japanese out, and some event stories every now and then. That is nowhere near enough for me to write "canonically".

And honestly, sticking a "I still liked your fic" at the end of a long comment explaining in detail the things the character would have done canonically, just doesn't make it all better.

I had no idea how this character would react at the time, and based on the little info we had, I took a leap of faith to try and integrate the different sides of the personality we saw through glimpses. There were so few fics out there about him! And now, months later, after his route is out, it is a "bad" fic. It isn't "realistic".

This makes me feel like I "should" pay more attention to the canon, not out of wanting to write better like I felt until now, but out of fear that some random person on the internet will not like it enough.

Yes, reading the canon is great, but you know, I am a fic writer. I am not the writer of the canon. I should have the freedom to write however close or far from the canon I want.

And whenever I read someone's fic and the character doesn't feel "canon", well, I think to myself, I probably also have a headcanon of that character. And now, I got to see this character under a new light, in a new situation.

I understand that criticism helps us grow, but there is a time and place for everything. Leaving something publicly for anyone else to read, it's not my view of constructive criticism. Especially, when I was taught that we should always assume the best about the other person, and not that they simply "don't know better".

Plus, if you're not willing to see my writing grow through that criticism, I am not sure what your intentions are. If you're just a random person that has suddenly come across my fic, and has no intention of reading my writing in the future, are you really helping me grow? Or is it a way to just be negative about something you got for free, in a subtle way?

I sometimes don't like my favs canon stories. And yet I never go on social media and comment on how the writers or the team didn't do a good job. They are trying to please many different readers, and I am aware of that.

In the case of fic writers, sometimes we are just trying to please ourselves. It's our headcanon. It's our story. It's our take on the character. If you don't like it, it's fine. But why do you feel the need to tell me?

Anyway, I'll work on taking criticism better. But if you're going to criticise my fic, please make sure you actually like it first. Communicating that is just as important, if not more important, than anything else.

I have a lot of thoughts on billy

to clarify right off the bat, this isn't supposed to be a post trying to dissuade or persuade anyone about any opinions they should or shouldn't have on him. I just can't help but notice that, especially when it comes to issues of him being racist, the white billy fans are the first people to be the loudest about his "redemption" or even the fact that he "doesn't need" any. and to me, that feels misplaced.

now don't get me wrong, that's not me saying that redemption or forgiveness has to be earned. whether or not he has earned either is beside the point. but when it pertains to whether or not he's racist in and of himself, it shouldn't be a bunch of white people arguing with one another over it, and it gets kind of old seeing the same stuff regurgitated onto every social media platform i can think of.

in my humble opinion (and please if you have the authority to, correct me if I'm wrong), there's no "middle ground" with characters like billy. there's only the facts of what he has done, what he hasn't done, and the kind of person that he is. fact, he's behaved in racist ways to lucas. fact, he's been emotionally and physically abused a majority of his life. fact, he was tortured in insurmountable ways by the mind flayer. opinion, he does not hold the same views as his father. opinion, he deserves forgiveness. opinion, all of his wrongdoings can be chalked up to his childhood and upbringing. fact, he is still barely an adult in the show. and fact, he still makes his own choices throughout the show (post-possession season 3 is more up for debate though).

the point that I'm getting at is that we have the facts. and we have the opinions from hundreds of thousands of people unqualified or under qualified to speak on billy's character. and forming an opinion on billy hargrove like it's a fact if you're either of those things is a gateway to ignorance not just on how his actions impact the viewers and characters affected most, but a gateway to ignorance on his character as a whole. at the end of the day, he is a well flushed out, thought through, complex person, not dissimilar to the rest of the characters in the show. that doesn't change, whether or not his actions as a person are excusable.

and it still doesn't change the fact that when someone who is qualified to speak on him says that his actions are not to be glossed over and ignored because "he's hot," they are to be listened to. I'm not asking everyone to take up pitchforks against this character, but I am asking for some serious self evaluation before people get on their high horses and decide to "pick a side" on his existence as a whole. as far as I'm concerned, I do not defend him for his wrongdoings that I'm not qualified to speak on. and that's that.

FEDIVERSE INFO/GUIDE

TLDR: Info/guide about decentralized social media alternative if people would like to move away from Tumblr. Also I'm sorry for info-dumping.

### INTRODUCTION(ig i'm doing a chapter thing) Hi, it me, one of the little gay people in your phone. It's been a little since us 196ers have moved over to Tumblr. Over the first few months it felt like Tumblr became a place for our little community to settle down for the years to come but after the entire drama with Predstrogen getting banned by the CEO himself, life on this platform has seemed rocky to me. I was happy to see the community here was outraged and rallied against these actions but it feels like once again we are on a site that doesn't value or respect us. One question that I saw a few times during this event was if we should migrate to another platform and where to if so. This was met with not much of an answer because where else is there to go? Back to Reddit? Twitter? Somehow move to Instagram? To those who feel like there is no where left to turn let me introduce you, the two people who are actually read this, to the Fediverse.

### WHAT IS THE FEDIVERSE

In the most basic terms it's a group of individual servers that are connected to create a bigger social media platform. It's kind of like if you could view and communicate with people on Instagram and Reddit while on Tumblr and vise versa just with a lot of smaller independent servers.

This allows for a lot of smaller servers with unique communities and rules to mingle and thrive without needing to worry about advertisements, algorithms, or higher-ups from randomly banning your account for just existing(I mean that can happen if there's a bad admin but then you can just create a different account on a different server).

I feel like this corner of the internet would be perfect to harbor the 196 community. Below is a guide on how to set up an account and a little bit about the interface to anyone who would like to try. At the very bottom is also a great video that goes over everything here just better I would say. If you would, give it a try. It would make my heart warm to see the 196 tag on there.

### HOW TO MAKE AN ACCOUNT

# STEP 1: Pick a server

The first step in creating an account is picking the a server. This in the end won't matter that much as if you create an account on a niche server you will still be able to see the content on all other servers connected to the Frediverse. The two main things you will want to be looking at while choosing a server is: 1. Join or apply: Some servers you will need to apply to get in while others are open to anyone. I've never tried to apply to any servers so I can't say anything about the process, but it is something to keep in mind if you would just like to create an account and instantly start posting.

2. The rules: For rules that should be self explanatory. If some of y'all want to do hornyposting, which please do, then you should make sure the server you choose is okay with that type of stuff.

3. Character Limit: Every server will have a character limit for messages which is the only downside when switching from Tumblr. For most servers this limit is 500 character but it can be more. I don't know how to see this per server but if it's a bigger server it's more than likely it'll be a 500 character limit. Below are two links to help with server hunting: 1. The main page with some of the most popular servers.

2. A tool that can help you sort ALL of the servers.

For this tutorial I'll create an account on neovibe.app to demonstrate but feel free to join any one that catches your eye even if it's a general server like mastodon.social(that is a perfectly fine option).

# STEP 2: Fill out the info

Once you have picked a server go to it's page (so for me I'll put neovibe.app into my URL). Then once the page loads hit the 'create account' button.

Now you will be taken to the rules of the server. Double check they are good with you before hitting accept.

Now you will be taken to your usual social media fill out page. Fill the information and hit sign up. Next you will be prompted to verify your email and after that you should be ready to start posting.

# STEP 3: Enjoy

Once you've created your account you can now start posting. This works a little like Twitter but less toxic and isn't a in a spiral right now.

Here are some descriptions of the tabs you will use most: Home - Your home tab will show you things the people you follow posted along with tags you follow. Explore - The Explore tab I believe shows you what's trending today. Live Feed - The Live Feed shows you the newest things. It can be sorted between the server you are on, other servers, or all the servers.

When posting remember if something is NSFW or gory remember to add a content warning.

It used to be a great place for interaction, but it honestly feels like posting to a void nowadays. It doesn't help that the activity page only shows when things are liked or reblogged, they don't show if there's been any views, so I don't even know if anything's actually being seen.

CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO

The next few weeks went by in utter bliss.

The days after the pitch presentation with the marketing team were spent shooting the models in Sam's building. When Bucky told me you'd had assistants for the shoot, you thought that he was just joking or just wanted to make you feel better but you knew now to believe everything he would tell you. It was the first time you'd had people help you work; the first time you had to order people around. You had people working for the lights, reflectors, fans, backdrops, wardrobe, and make-up. You also had people sitting behind two large desktops connected to your new camera to skim over the photos. You would head over there for every five minutes to look at the photos and if you found something that could work better, you'd have another round with the models.

Considering it was the first time you've handled professional models and athletes in photoshoots, you did excellent and handled everything smoothly. Even Sharon knew it, giving you a small reassuring smile from time to time.

Speaking of Sharon, she actually helped you with the models' wardrobe, and got every new clothing from their inventory, making sure everything and everyone were photographed. She was still walking around with her clipboard close to her chest. She never walked the grounds without it.

Sam would go in and out from time to time. With the other matters he had in his hands, countless partnership meetings on-site and online, it was understandable.

But you knew he trusted me in this. After all, you were partners in this project.

Meanwhile, Bucky had made himself comfortable watching you from the corner of the studio. He made himself too comfortable watching you the whole time you were working that the models thought he was planning something heinous. You laughed them off and told them you were dating.

"Isn't he too old for you?" One model had asked.

"Doesn't really matter to me." You turned your head and glanced at Bucky, his eyes glistening as he stared at you. You bit your lip and faced the model. "Plus, he's hot. I would be crazy not to jump on that."

If only Nat could hear you, you knew she'd be proud.

Even though the two-day shoots were brutal, you felt a sense of satisfaction wash over you. More when you finally had to do post-production the following week which meant editing the photos.

As promised, you spent your break time over at Bucky's penthouse, naked in his living room, his master bedroom, the kitchen, and his home office. Your legs would be trembling during the shoot but you persevered. You didn't want Bucky to see you weak while working, even though it turned him on. It wasn't helping that he was watching you the whole time. You couldn't see him but you always felt his eyes on you.

The Falcons' new release was set to be launched a month and a half later, just weeks after Bucky's birthday (I'll get to Bucky's birthday in a bit, 'cause that was a whole other thing kept at the back of my mind, you thought). There were still a lot of things happening with advertising and marketing such as the new website, and pages on social media platforms and new packaging.

After the project with Sam, your paycheck came one Monday morning in the mail. Peter kept asking you how much you were paid but you never told him because if you did, he'd let you pay the next six month's rent — and that wasn't even just for your half. It would be for the both of you. You would gladly pay of course, seeing that he's helped you enough financially but you wanted to invest this money to earn more. The paycheck wouldn't stop there, of course. Sam would still pay you if your photos ever get on billboards across any city or when he opens up a new branch.

Sam referred you to a couple more guys he knew. One who needed to photograph models for a skincare brand he'd been rebranding for the past couple of weeks and one who needed to photograph paintings to be sold online. They weren't as big as Sam's business but were big enough in the industry. The production of both were still in the talk.

The next day, you and Bucky went studio hunting downtown. Obviously, your little home studio wasn't fit for incoming clients and this was surely an investment you couldn't pass upon. After renting and earning more profit, you figured you could move into another studio and buy it; a permanent place where you could freely work.

While studio hunting, Bucky insisted to buy the place that you wanted — or better yet, buy a much bigger place so you wouldn't have to move to another studio. But you've already made up your mind. You told him you wanted to do this your own way, with the money you've earned. After signing the contract and lease with your name on it, Bucky hugged you from behind. The property agent eyed you.

"At least let me buy you something, doll." He whispered in your hair as soon as you were left alone. You stood at the center of the empty office, overlooking the busy streets of New York City through the glass walls.  "Please."

You met his arms with your hands, pulling him closer. You leaned on his chest, sighing at the comfort his arms gave you. "Even if I tell you no, I know you're still going to do it."

"You're damn right. Do you have anything in mind you might like?"

You turned around and wrapped your arms around his neck. "Surprise me."

He chewed his inner cheeks before dipping his head to yours, your lips meeting each other. "Oh, I definitely will."

The next day, a whole studio setup filled the used-to-be-empty studio. Complete with backdrops, lights, light boxes, and reflectors. In your new office was a fully furnished desk, complete with a desktop setup where you could edit photos.

You looked at him with wide eyes, ready to lecture him that this was all too much and that you definitely made it clear that you wanted to do all of this by yourself.

Bucky had caught your expression early on, scared that you might have our first argument.

"Before you say anything, this wasn't all me. I figured out a loophole on how I could buy you the things you need for this studio and at the same time, still make you like me and would still make you want to rip my clothes off."

"What did you do this time, James?"

"All of this," he said, gesturing to all the equipment in the studio, "was both me and Sam. Think of it as an investment. If you can get more work and clients, then you can keep everything but if you can't, we'll pull them all out. When you afford to buy everything here, only then can you pay us. This little string here," he pointed to the both of you, "is just business."

You looked at him in disbelief. "Just business?"

He bit his lip. "Okay, maybe a bit of pleasure too."

"A bit?"

"Maybe a whole lot." He shrugged.

"And the whole idea was... just you?"

"Just me, sweetheart. Plain James Buchanan Barnes. You get me, you get the whole package."

"And besides money what will you get out of this little investment idea of yours?"

"I have little care about the money, honestly." He said. "But I'm doing all this for you and you is all I care about."

"You're damn lucky I like you, James."

"Like me enough to have some hot sex right here, right now?"

You smirked, pressing your crotch against his, teasing him. "I get the whole package, right?"

Bucky took you from behind. Your tight skirt hiked up to your waist. Your tits bouncing against the fabric of the beige curtains, your hands gripping them as hard as you could as Bucky thrusted himself hard and deep behind you, his hands either on your hips, your hair, your neck or your breasts. And as you both finished, the curtain rod broke in half, making you and Bucky topple on the ground, the huge curtains falling down on your bodies. The bright sun radiating across the room, the view of the streets startling you.

Laughter filled the room as you stared at each other. The look of exhaustion still evident in your faces and body.

"You're buying me new curtains." You breathed out.

"Me?" He chuckled. "You're the one who pulled them off!"

"The reason why was you."

"I have a better idea."

"I doubt that."

"We should just get these windows tinted." He smirked under the curtains and rolled over towards you, his arms wrapped around your waist. "That way we could just ravish each other in front of this goddamn city without anyone ever seeing us. How does that sound, doll?"

You hummed, brushing your nose against his. "Tempting."

"Is that a yes?"

You shrugged, pulling away from him. "You have to convince me more, Mr. Barnes."

"Oh babydoll, you're gonna regret saying those words."

The following weeks with Bucky was all you could ever ask for but it was getting harder and harder to hide all of this from Peter. Your time together was spent in the confines of Bucky's expensive penthouse when he wasn't in meetings and when you weren't busy finishing the setup in your new studio.

All day you'd cuddle up, watch movies, read books, and just talk more about the beauty and perils of life.

You couldn't go out that much because you couldn't risk Peter or any of Peter's friends to see you and Bucky around. When you visited the bar one day and told Nat all about it, she told you to go to places Peter and any of his friends will never be at.

"Besides, isn't Peter always working?" She asked as you sat down on the booth.

"We still don't want to risk it."

"So, go with my plan."

"Hey," you said, finally thinking her idea was a good one, "how's it going with Steve?"

She shrugged, chewing on her lower lip. You eyed her suspiciously. "Uh-oh, what's wrong?"

"It's still good but..." she paused, her eyes strained. "He's been acting strange lately."

"Isn't he always?" You chuckled. "You may not notice this 'cause you're sleeping with him but he's a bit peculiar for a man his age. Always cramped up in that little office of his. Seriously, how on earth do you have sex in there?"

"I'm bendy, bitch."

"Never should've asked." You mumbled, getting the picture of Nat, well, bending, out of your head.

"Anyway," she sighed, "it's just... he's acting really weird. I can't even begin to explain it. I think something happened."

"Do you think it's about you two?"

"I doubt that." She frowned. "I just know it's something else."

"You want me to talk to him? I'm like a little sister to him." You replied. "Sorta. It's a weird dynamic, I know."

"Sure, if you ever catch him in the office. He's barely even here."

You nodded, taking the new information in. "Now, that's a whole level of weird for Steve."

"Maybe he's just having problems with the bar or something." You shrugged.

"If he did, he'd be here in the bar. I tried talking to him but he says he's just fine. I don't know, I'm just letting him be. It's not like we're in a relationship."

You and Nat talked a bit more about Steve right before her shift started. Then the next day, you gave Bucky a map and marked all the places you could go to without risking being seen. Brooklyn was the only place Peter would never go to. You thought about Queens but May, Peter's aunt, lives around that area.

Brooklyn was no Upper West or Upper East side but it didn't matter to you or to Bucky. You had each other; just the two of us — in the restaurant & lounge, movie theater (where we always end up making out), Barnes & Noble, local coffee shops (where we read the books we've bought), and in the streets of Brooklyn. Strolling hand in hand, stealing kisses on every empty corner, and you taking photos and videos of the beautiful landscape, and the beautiful man who managed to steal your heart.

All the rendezvous with Bucky felt like you were a married woman having an affair — without the secret handwritten letters.

But everything was in place and your heart was full. It was so full it could almost explode.

Spending all the time in his penthouse, in Brooklyn and your studio made me miss your rooftop. A place you've claimed yours and Bucky's; a place he'd claimed you his, and he, yours. You wished we could just go there freely, without having to worry Peter seeing you together doing unspeakable things to one another.

And yes, telling Peter was getting much harder as the month went by.

Back in the Upper West Side, nothing much was going on in the bar. You barely see Steve (though according to Nat, he comes in the bar every now and then), Nat was still Nat of course (and nothing much had changed in whatever was going on between her and Steve), Nick got better at making drinks (thank the heavens for that), Sam would give you constant updates whenever he came with Bucky in the bar, and Peter had been having problems with his marketing team and Wanda's vision for the clothing line they landed.

Now that was something you couldn't believe and was the reason you and Bucky kept postponing on telling him.

Peter was constantly in a bad mood. It got to one point where he wanted to quit the team.

After that, you went to pay Wanda a visit at her studio. You found her sitting in her office in deep thoughts. She was surprised to see you but managed to put on a smile when she approached you with a hug. You offered if you could get coffee from a coffee shop down the block and there you talked about the conflict happening between her and Peter's team.

Boy, when you and Sharon had had an argument, you thought that was already big. But Wanda's case was much bigger.

"This isn't a collaboration anymore. It feels like my artistic vision has no place in it. It's like they're telling me, 'hey, you have a camera just shoot whatever we want you to shoot the way we want it to be shot.' I keep telling them that's not how it works. They keep throwing in my face that they hired me, that they're paying me." Wanda being Wanda, kept on and on and on. "... and that roommate of yours is no help either. He just stays silent the whole time during those god awful meetings. We're already behind track and apparently it's my fault. Can you believe it? God, I don't know what to do. I've never had a marketing team work alongside me before! Have you at least talked to Peter about it?"

You raised your eyebrows, taking a sip of the coffee. "Oh, I wouldn't wanna talk to Parker. He's been in quite a mood."

"Too bad, I was kind of hoping you could knock some sense into him. Should I just quit?"

You talked for about two hours in the coffee shop catching up. It felt kind of rude to talk to her about The Falcons but she insisted. And she genuinely looked and sounded so happy for you, which made you feel a bit guilty for being so envious of her success.

You parted ways in her studio but before you could even get out of her office and go to Brooklyn to meet with Bucky, Wanda called out your name and handed you a film camera.

And it wasn't just any film camera. It was yours — the one that she borrowed back in college.

"It's long overdue, y/n. I was just finding the right time to give it back to you."

You gave her a reassuring smile, telling her it's okay. Hell, you even forgot you lended it to her until today. "Thanks, Wanda."

"I haven't had the film developed, by the way. I took a couple of photos before realizing I've run out. I didn't want to get them developed since most of the photos are yours."

After that, you convinced Bucky to go to some shops in Brooklyn where you could get them developed but he insisted you should just make the little spare room in the studio into a dark room. You didn't know why you agreed but you did, anyway. Bucky always had a way with words. Or perhaps it was because of his intoxicating voice. Either way, you were addicted to every part of him. He could try to persuade you in gibberish and you'd still say yes.

It was already the week before Bucky's birthday. You've already met with your new clients, began planning pre-production, and almost finished setting up the studio, yet your brain was still racking what on earth to get Bucky for his birthday.

Howard picked you up in your studio an hour after your meetings and thanked him as you got out. Leonard greeted you inside and led you towards the elevator that goes right up to Bucky's penthouse.

Bucky just came out of his study when you greeted him with a kiss, his phone in his hand.

"So, who was on the phone? Parker?" You asked as soon as you sat down on the couch.

"That was Tony."

You pursed your lips and nodded, caressing the top of his head. "Tony's been calling you a lot lately." You commented, recalling the times you've seen Tony's name on Bucky's phone screen. "Is everything fine?"

"It's kind of weirding me out too, doll but this time, I kind of figured why he called."

You frowned and stopped playing with his hair. "What do you mean?"

"It's the first time in five years I'm in New York for my birthday and knowing him, I know he'd throw me this huge party." Bucky chuckled. "And I couldn't say no because well... It's Tony — "

You smiled at him. "That's really sweet of him! He must've been missing you a lot."

"I'm not done yet, doll." He placed his finger on your lips.

You giggled and hid how easily that gesture turned you on.

"The birthday party has a theme." With his finger still on your lips, you waited for him to finish. Something you always anticipated in bed. "It's the Great Gatsby."

Your mouth fell agape, smiling at him. In your head, you were already seeing him in a neat, dazzling vintage suit. "Oh my god, why do you look so glum? It sounds like a great party!"

He shrugged. "Honestly, I just want to spend my birthday with you." He pecked your lips then whispered. "No fancy party. Just you."

You kissed him back, then placed your head on his shoulder. "I'd love that too, boo but I'm nothing compared to a Great Gatsby party."

"You couldn't be more wrong, sweetheart." He sighed, pulling you up to his lap. "I'd choose you over any fancy party. I just want you."

"You still have to go, Bucky."

He groaned, dipping his head on your shoulder as he pulled you closer, his hands tight on the sides of your thighs. "I don't want to."

"You have to." You giggled, lifting his head. You put your hands on his jaws, looking straight at him. "Okay?"

"I'm turning thirty-nine in a week, y/n. I'm too old for a costume party."

"Puh-lease." You scoffed. "You streaked in the streets of Greece when you turned thirty-four and you're telling me you're too old for a costume party?"

He groaned, throwing his head back. "Why do you always bring that up, doll?"

"It's one of my favorite stories I've been told about my boyfriend." You smirked, bringing his head back in between his shoulders. "It would be my favorite if I were with you."

Bucky sent you a glare. "No way am I letting other people see you naked. Never in a million years."

You shrugged. "You almost did when we had sex that one time in my office, Buck. Come on, go to the party. It's your party, anyway."

He chuckled, brushing a strand of hair away from your face. He tucked it behind your ear. You smiled at the gesture. "If anything, it's Tony's party, Not mine. He's sort of a diva."

"He's still throwing it because of you. Come on, boo."

A moment of silence occurred.

"You're coming with me, then." He replied. "I'm not going if you're not going."

You hummed, looking up at the ceiling. "Let's see... A party with my boyfriend, his adoptive father who's one of the richest people ever to exist on this planet, and his stepbrother. Well, it's a party but not that fancy."

He moaned. "Then be my date in secret. Come on, doll, we've been really good at it. We can sneak out for a few minutes and make out. That way, I could still be with you."

You knitted your brows. "That sounds more like Romeo and Juliet. Not the Great Gatsby."

He chuckled, kissing the tip of your nose. "Come on, y/n. It's my birthday. Don't I get special treatment on my special day?"

You looked at him with narrowed eyes, knowing he would never drop this. The worry of a party with the person you had been avoiding the past month was settling inside but Bucky's arms around your waist made that all disappear.

"Fine." You sighed. "Your wish is my command, Mr. Barnes."

Bucky smiled in victory, leaning in closer to your face. His lips brushed against yours. "Wishes, baby. That's not the only wish I want."

"You have two more then."

"Oh wait, I should rub you first after making a wish, right?"

You shook your head. "Don't push it."

He sneered, carefully rubbing your thighs. "My second wish would be me buying you a dress but don't let me see it until my birthday comes."

You hadn't had any chance to argue because well, it would be his birthday. And you couldn't resist Bucky.

I don't think I ever could.

"Deal." You sealed it with a small kiss then stood up from his lap. "Only if you let me go shopping now,"

"Now? Like, right now? It's a bit too early, don't you think?"

You nodded and gave him a playful smile. "It is. I just wanted to tease you with a little secret I'll be bringing home with me tonight."

"Oh no," he reached out his arms, "don't do that to me. Come on, get back here. I have a better idea."

You sighed, getting back on his lap, straddling him. "Of course, you do."

"I'll have someone over here tomorrow. I'll have one of the best dressmakers here to make you something gorgeous. How does that sound?"

"It sounds expensive." You warned. "But wonderful. I'll be here in the morning."

After spending another hour at Bucky's, discussing what could've been his birthday plans with me (a simple rooftop dinner, where we could get drunk and have drunk sex underneath the tent — that was just one of the crazy options he offered), you went straight to the bar and looked for Nat, hoping she could help me what to get for Bucky on his birthday.

As you got there, you barged inside only to find the bar empty. You looked around, wondering why there were no people inside only to realize it was two in the afternoon and it was a Monday. You looked back on the door, wondering why it was open. Then, it hit you: Steve. He must be here.

"Steve?" You called out as you neared his office. "Steve, you here?"

No answer.

You knocked on the door and called out his name one more time but you were only met with silence. Without hesitation, you opened Steve's door. You were greeted with a pile of papers. It was like they were growing from the ground.

"Steve?" You called out once more but there was still no answer. You walked around the room to find more papers. You picked one up, seeing it was a newspaper dated back 2012. It was an article about an explosion that happened in the Upper East Side. But you couldn't see the details since only the headline was in sight. It seemed like the whole article had been cut or shredded.

You wondered if Steve was the one who wrote it.

It was the first time you ever got a good look in his office. Inside were dusty. To think that he spends most of his time here, he'd bother to clean once in a while.

On the back of his table were a bunch of photographs lined up. Some of his family, you assumed, fishing on a lake. Then, something caught your eye: a small framed picture that was facing down.

Curious, you slowly picked it up.

An audible gasp came out of your mouth when you saw the photo.

It was Bucky and Steve.

Some of you really never understood why bullying other people because of how their look is fucking shitty and it really shows. It feels like some of y'all just made a list with a few points called "Things I Can't Bully Others For Because I Will Be Called Out and Face Social Consequences" but whatever isn't on this list? Irrelevant. And the most hypocritical shit is when I see someone talk about "body positivity" and how important it is to cherish various human bodies and then turn around to spit disgusting hate towards people who don't belong to the most "mainstream" groups of "people we shouldn't bully for their looks." How can you say stuff like "we shouldn't judge others because of their appearance <3" and then make fun of people with features like asymmetrical jawline, wide-set eyes, hooked/big/flat/crooked nose. It's always "every skin is perfect" until someone has acne or large pores. It's always "every face is beautifully sculpted" until someone had very sharp or irregular features. "Every body is perfect" until someone is too skinny or fat in a way you don't like.

And you know what? That might anger a lot of people but I don't give a shit since I've seen that happening for years and I'm done - writing shitty comments about celebrities isn't ok either. Will that take away their money and fame? No. But a lot of them, especially from younger generation, have accounts on social media. Y'all really think Timothée Chalamet or other younger celebs never saw that fucking ocean of shitty comments about their appearances? You really think it has no influence on them? Damn, dehumanization of people you see on the screen went far. And how does that shit make their fans feel? Fans who see themselves in those celebs? Who finally saw some representation of their "original" (in media's view) features just to scroll down and see the same disgusting comments they've been hearing their whole lives from people in school/work? We all love to talk about how representation matters and helps regular people accept their own bodies until y'all want to bully someone. Then suddenly you have no clue how that works or it's "just a joke/they won't fuck you/it doesn't matter/chill out." Maybe it doesn't matter to that celeb, maybe it does. But it sure as hell matters to people who finally wanted to feel seen, feel beautiful.

Does this shit get you off? Makes you feel better about yourself? Because to me it screams "red flag." It means that if I happen to have one of the features you ridicule on others but not on me, the very moment I bother you in any way, you will have no moral barrier stopping you from using my appearance against me. I'm not safe because "you would never do that to anyone in real life, c'mon, it's just a joke!", I'm safe because I didn't happen to anger you yet. And no, it's not only about edgy teenagers who like to shit on others or any other straw-man group that's always put as an example of "the bad ones." I've seen that behaviour among people who claim to be as progressive as possible. Except for that one thing. Because "it's not that serious," y'know. It's just a joke.

Anyway, this is a general post. Don't make it about any particular celebrities/influencers/online personas because it's about the broad phenomenon. Until the day y'all understand that you have to respect all people, not only the ones you find attractive/the ones you were specifically told not to bully, nothing will ever fucking change. The middle school bullying just moved to online platforms because you never grasped what's morally wrong with being shitty towards other people due to things they can't and/or don't want to change. No one exists to aesthetically please you. And no one exists to be your punching bag because your parents didn't raise you right

About that last post you rebloged about like, pronouns n inclusivity in fics: I find it really differes. I cant say a whole lot about things like eyecolour/skincolour/haircolour n type etc but I have experience with the pronouns stuff.

I have just about every x f!reader tag that you can think of blocked. From general, to specific fandoms to specific characters.

I will go into a character x reader tag and not only be bombarded with f!reader that isnt tagged via hashtags but also shows NO indication that its f!reader.

Even worse, Ive had times where something was tagged gn!reader, and was just straight up using language clearly indicating an afab body. When I said this, they responded with "I tagged it."

I understand that writers cant make re-writes of every piece with every pronoun changed etc. All I ask is clarity about things. Make it clear what it is.

I will go in x reader tags and find more f!reader content then gn!reader, whether its not tagged or wrongfully tagged as gn!reader doesnt really matter, they are both still there.

Reader is gender neutral word.

But thats my view on this whole thing. Im not a writer but I understand that you guys do this for fun and 9/10 dont get a lot out of it. Its just hard to curate your experience when theres no way to actually weed out what you dont want to see.

Okay but that is completely understandable. That's blatant mistagging or just shows the need for better tagging. Shit, I know sometimes I forget to tag things, or that I mistag on accident. But if anyone spots it I have no problem fixing it. I'm sorry about the writer interaction you had, and I hope that more fics get tagged properly as well.

I do agree writers need to fix how they tag. And people who have this issue either don't tag at all, or are beginning writers, who don't know how to do it properly. It's a learning experience, but I empathize with you completely. If I ever mistag or something, I'm always open to fixing them :)

Also I RANTED here:

I remember when insert fics used to be the typical blonde or brunette that's skinny with light eyes and pale skin. Or when things are tagged as x reader and they're blatant OCs. It's gotten better though, and eventually you get an eye for it too.

And I have the tagging issue especially with smut. Nobody tags kinks or puts them in warnings. Nobody puts long ass 100,000+ character posts under a readmore. Like I'm tired of reading a fic and suddenly mister fuckmaster II is making me call him daddy and treating me like a child :/ or when I'm reading a fic and some hard-core BDSM pops up like:

Like please, tag your fics. Mister Fuckmaster II will be able to piss and shit on those who are into the fic if you tag it properly, and significantly lower any hate/negativity that comes your way.

And I understand how the fic community has a lot of afabs and fem in general. From my understanding, girls and females are the biggest market/take up most of the writing space too (in fanfic/fandom). And there's an unconscious bias there too, but mistakes are normal and should be handled respectfully.

My issue was that I see A LOT of people, who aren't writers or content creators, ask for a lot of things when it comes to fics... but they're also the same people who don't interact with posts.

I know I have a lot of ghost readers, or people who just throw a like at max effort, and while I usually don't care, I will admit it doesn't help me with writing or keeping things consistent. What's the point in posting if no one acknowledged the fact I wrote it, ya know? The whole point of social media is to interact. Most of my posts, with the exception of a few, have a 90 to 1 like to reblog ratio. No one comments, either out of like or constructive criticism, and anons now are scarce. But I can understand that because I was gone for a while, but this was happening even before I went on hiatus.

It gets annoying when all I see is "writers need to do this" and "writers should do that" and said advice is just... so dumb. And people demanding shit most of the time aren't even writers, or people who interact with writers.

And it's a simple fix too. Just make a side blog. Put all your shit in there. Your reblogs, your comments, your interactions- if you really want to keep your aesthetic or hide the fact you read fics.

And just because I haven't posted these anons, it doesn't mean I don't get them. I've had people demanding I write more smut, more fluff, less dark content, darker content, extereme kink/abuse... all while being just super rude. Some anons I've got telling me I need therapy or I'm disgusting for writing dark content is the tip of the iceberg.

I guess this is just a rant on how people just demand, demand, demand, and then ask why writers leave/are leaving. Why quality has gone down. Why writers abandon blogs.

I leave anon on because that's how most people interact with me, and because it makes people comfortable, but I assure you if I shut it off, I'd probably get 3 or 4 people in my inbox on average.

I wanna write stuff and see people comment, reblog, or even just leave an anon. I wanna talk with people about my work. I put effort because yall deserve it. Majority of my readers are amazing. And you guys keep the blog alive. Trust me when I say that, because I was planning to abandon/delete after I lowkey left the Obey Me Fandom a year ago. Twst got me back into writing and that community was great. Genshin is great. And all the smaller fandoms I've written for are welcome too. I've accepted being a... honeypot of fandoms lol.
