On April 8th 1820 violence erupted when Radical prisoners were taken from Paisley to Greenock jail.
This is a direct follow on from the Battle of Bonnymuir post from three days ago, and the Radical War.
It always worries me posting stories like this, even though it was over 200 years since it happened we Scots have awfy long memories, especially when we sense some injustice.
Some Radical prisoners from Bonnymuir were taken from Paisley to Greenock jail under escort. The citizens of Greenock fought their escort, the Port Glasgow Militia, until they reached the jail, the militia fired indiscriminately into the Greenock crowd, resulting in eight deaths and ten wounded. In spite of the enormity of the Militia’s deed no disciplinary action was taken.
At night the citizens of Greenock rescued the Paisley Radicals, only one of whom was subsequently re-arrested..
The Greenock dead and wounded ranged from eight year old James MacGilp to sixty-five year old John MacWhinnie.
Adam Clephane (48 years) dead
James Kerr (17 years) dead
William Lindsay (15 years) dead
James MacGilp (8 years) dead
Archibald Drummond (20 years) dead
John Mac Whinnie (65 years) dead
John Boyce (33 years) dead
Archibald McKinnon (17 years) dead
(Died of his wounds on 5th May 1820)
Mrs Catherine Turner (65 years) leg amputated
Hugh Paterson (14 Years) leg amputated
Peter Cameron (14 years) flesh wound
John Gunn (24 years) flesh wound
John Turner (22 years) flesh wound
Gilbert MacArthur (18 years) slight wound
Robert Spence (11 years) slight wound
David MacBride (14 years) slight wound
John Patrick (30 years) slight wound
George Tillery (25 years) slight wound.
Pics are the the Greenock Helping Hand Memorial and the names of the dead on a wall nearby.

Hello everyone,
A couple of days ago shit went to hell in different cities in Senegal. Before we get into what happened a couple of days ago, we need to go back to March 2021.
Early March 2021, Ousmane Sonko, the opposition leader of Senegal’s current president, Macky Sall was accused of rape by Adji Sarr. As he was on his way to court, he got arrested. In response, the Senegalese population went out to protest. However, the protests were met with violence from police who used tear gas and guns (with real bullets) against protesters and sometimes even innocent people. The Senegalese government blocked access to the internet to prevent the youth from conspiring and inciting violence. Eventually, Sonko was released and things seemed to go back to normal. However, about 21 young Senegalese people have died during the protests in 2021.
Until a couple of days ago. Last week on Sunday May 28th, the opposition leader Ousmane Sonko was arrested and brought to Dakar from his hometown in Ziguinchor. On Wednesday, prosecutors said they demanded 10 years in prison, but the next day (June 2nd) he was sentenced to two years in jail.
Afterwards, hell broke loose. People have been protesting since but the people have been met with a lot of violence and abuse. Just like in 2021, the government has been blocking access to the internet and certain apps and the current death toll is at 15. I would appreciate it if you can reblog this for visibility and awareness.
If you want to stay updated about what is happening in Senegal, I recommend checking the #FreeSenegal hashtag on Twitter. However TRIGGER WARNING ⚠️ because there are unsettling video’s of violence, blood and I don’t want to traumatize anyone.
If you want to know more about what it happening exactly, I created a story highlight on Instagram. Thank you, and if you are in Senegal: STAY SAFE 🇸🇳 or have loved-ones there I HOPE THEY ARE AND WILL STAY SAFE 🇸🇳.
May God help us all.
#FreeSenegal

"The world is bad. One does not know whom to trust. The good ruler who stands for the people becomes a victim too soon. And bad rulers like bad sauce, stay longer! A world that knows not what it wants. A dizzy world, this."

the purpose of this post isn’t trying to take away from violence and genocide going on in other countries. i just need to get this out i guess.
i go to highschool in america. we joke about it. we’ve accepted it. we’re teenagers and we think we won’t care if we die. but i think about my 5 year old cousin, every day that she goes to school there’s a chance she could be shot and killed.
as kids we’re taught that america is the best country and that we’re lucky to live here. i remember active shooter drills when i was 7. help barricade the door. hide in the cabinets. afterwards your teacher tells you there’s nothing to worry about. you come home from school and your parents are watching the news. more kids your age were shot and killed.
america is an extremely wealthy country. there’s no wars going on here, we’re the ones killing and bombing other countries.
i just can’t help but feel that because we’re suffering less than other places our military causes extreme suffering in, we’re sold the idea that we’re lucky and fortunate. our police beat people to death and shoot to kill. our kids are in danger by going to school. food and shelter are getting too expensive to afford.
in school we stand for the national anthem and in school we know we could be murdered because of the laws of our country.

Why Assassin Fantasy Novels Are More Relevant Now Than Ever
The modern world: a buzzing hive of social media influencers, political circus acts, and an ongoing debate about whether pineapple belongs on pizza (it does, fight me). Amidst all this chaos, you might be wondering, “Why in seven hells should I be reading about fictional characters who make a living by, well, ending lives?” The answer is simple: because assassin fantasy novels are more relevant…

This state of affairs happened at a time very unfortunately for me, as I was precluded from taking any excursions much beyond the limits of the town.

Oh yes, yes we can....
Oh yes, yes we can….
A brisk 52 degrees in Kansas City on a recent Saturday morning. Perfect walking weather. A nice breeze, lots of sun, and Mother Nature unabashedly showing off her finest autumn palette. A terrific backdrop to pound the sidewalk for three miles. Dressed in black yoga capris, an old Oxford cloth button-down of Wood’s, topped off with a “WE CAN DO HARD THINGS” sweatshirt that once belonged to my…
