you looked away from minjeong, stupidly blinking at the numerous lockers behind her, trying to distract yourself from the fact that you were probably going to die today. to which, she groaned, annoyed.

her smooth hand grabbed your jaw in a swift motion and made you look at her properly, “i don’t have all fucking day y/n, it’s due next period. so, where is it?”

you felt your breathing get heavier by the second, your palms getting sweatier, your mouth suddenly producing more saliva, you knew how bad she got when things didn’t go her way, being a menace to everybody in school definitely got to her head. her poisonous stare piercing right through you as her grip on your jaw got tighter, you gathered up the courage to speak.

“i-i.. i don’t have it.”

..a scoff escapes her mouth, you always had the homework done and ready for her, what suddenly changed today?

“what do you mean you don’t have it? i told you to bring it today, didn’t i?” she responds, a mocking pout plastered on her face as you slightly shook under her touch.

“i didn’t do it, minjeong.” you confessed almost immediately. her eyes widened slightly as her eyebrows were upturned with condescension, surprised by your sudden boldness as she let go of you.

“it’s fine i’ll just- i’ll do it and give it to you after class. it’s about to be pe anyways—“ you added, stuttering and quickly closing your locker, convinced and hopeful that you could take the opportunity to walk away from the whole situation and get to the gym before she could do anything else.

in what felt like an incredibly short amount of seconds, she violently grabbed your collar and pinned you to the locker with full force, earning a yelp from you.

“who said i was done with you, bitch?” she leaned into you, staring at your visage like you were nothing but mere garbage to her, like laying her precious eyes on you was a chore. she giggled upon seeing your worried expression,

Request: Jj x sister (15 years old) reader where they get into a huge argument and don’t talk for a few days but then he sees someone bullying her and defends her which helps them make up at the end:))

Y/N walks past her brother on the way to the kitchen, the two still giving each other the cold shoulder since their fight almost a week ago. Y/N doesn't even remember what started the fight that quickly escalated into regretful things being said.

Y/N grabs a couple of granola bars before grabbing her bag and leaving.

Y/N is at her locker, her backpack almost falling off her shoulder as she also tries to balance the few books in her arms while trying to open her locker.

Y/N jumps when her backpack is yanked away from her.

"Fucking idiot." One of the boys remarks making the group of the three kids laugh. The other boy opens her backpack and dumps all of the contents out.

"Awww... this your homework? So studious." The girl remarks.

"Could you just--" Y/N reaches for her stuff.

"There a problem here?" They all turn as JJ walks up, glaring at the trio.

"Nah, it's none of your business, man." The guy with brown hair chuckles.

"Chill out, dude." The girl tells him.

JJ shoves the boy away from him and turns to the three.

"It's not our fault she's an easy target. I mean, she's a weak, little freak." The redhead laughs. JJ lets out a humorless laugh before punching the boy and he yells in pain.

"You wanna say that again?" JJ growls.

"Fuck off, psycho." The redhead mutters, rushing off, his friends close behind.

JJ huffs, rolling his eyes. He shakes his hand out, turning to Y/N who is kneeling down and picks up the stuff that fell out of her backpack. JJ quietly sighs and he crouches down, helping her pick everything up. They both silently work on refilling her backpack.

JJ hands Y/N her binder last.

"Thanks." She mutters, grabbing her notebooks.

"You all right?" JJ asks.

"Fine." She says.

"How long has this been going on?" JJ asks.

"Since the beginning of the year." Y/N quietly informs.

"What? Why didn't you tell me?" JJ asks as she stands up.

"Well, I considered it, but... I didn't want you getting suspended for a fight or some shit. And after last week, I wasn't sure you'd care anyway." Y/N remarks, turning to her locker.

JJ takes the stuff out of her hands so she can easily open her locker.

"Look, I..." JJ heavily sighs.

"You what?" Y/N asks.

"I'm sorry." JJ tells her.

"You're what?" She asks.

"I'm sorry. Okay? I'm sorry for everything about that fight. All of it." JJ tells her. "It got blown out of proportion and I said a lot of shit I didn't mean... and I'm sorry."

"I'm sorry, too." Y/N says. "I also said a lot of hurtful, false things. So, uh... sorry."

"Forgiven." JJ says. "And I'm...?"

"Forgiven." She assures.

"Sweet." He smiles. "And you never have to doubt if I care or not cause I just fought off three little jackasses."

"Yeah. Thank you, again." Y/N says.

"No problem. Besides, the only person ever allowed to call you a fucking idiot or little freak, it's gonna me." JJ grins, lightly hitting her on the head with her notebooks.

"Shut up." Y/N shoves and he laughs.

When Jason and Dick first fall into bed, it’s all haste and urgency and fire fueled by Dick narrowly escaping alive after a botched undercover operation.

Also, it’s not on a bed, but looking back, it was never going to be.

Jason’s on comms that night, in the Batcave only because Bruce’s away on League business while the others are… wherever they are. He honestly doesn’t care. It’s only Jason and Dick, working on something that Dick’s planned and put together, and sure, Dick resorted to asking for his help because it was his last option, probably, but it still makes him want to prove that he’s not always going lethal—not because he regrets that, never that, but because he just wants to prove them wrong. There’s maybe this… hope that if they just for once look at him, they’ll actually see him.

He’s not really holding his breath on that, but who knows, stranger shit has happened.

When Dick arrives right after having been made and having his cover compromised, there’s no fucking time to even consider going upstairs—not that Jason would have accepted, either way. One minute he’s shouting at Dick and condemning his recklessness, trying not to think how much that’s a Bruce move and whatever the fuck that means, and the next Dick’s all over him. His first instinct is thinking that they’re going to fight, which, fine, he likes that, but what happens is much, much sweeter.

Instead of punches or kicks, what he gets are Dick’s lips on his, a point of contact that sets him alight. It’s insane, almost surreal, and it takes his brain a few seconds to catch up.

Once a bat, always a bat—for better or worse, in Jason’s case, or in all of theirs, to be quite honest—and they don’t do shit like this, without planning ten steps ahead and scheming. Which means that either golden boy’s been thinking about this for a while, or that he’s not exactly in control now. Both ideas are exciting for different reasons, but he’s betting on the latter.

Jason gets it, is the thing. He gets wanting to feel something just to reassure himself that he’s alive. He gets that, and besides, Dick is the one person other than Bruce whose attention Jason went out of his way to get—not to the same extent, but still. So that’s why he doesn’t even think of doing anything else other than corresponding when Dick’s mouth finds his, when Dick’s hands reach beneath his t-shirt, when they stray lower.

It’s infuriating how goddamn good Dick is at this. A few touches of his hands and expertly applied bites that are also half-kisses have Jason singing in no time, spreading his legs and bucking against the other man without any sort of control to a point that should be embarrassing.

When Lucifer fell, he dragged with him a third of the angels. That’s the hysterical thought that passes through his mind when he feels Dick’s hard cock pressing against his thigh, the evidence that the whole thing is turning Dick on as much as Jason—and well, it certainly should, since it is Dick who initiated it.

The metaphor may not be completely adequate here, and Jason definitely doesn’t give a fuck about the proportions, because there’s only one of Bruce’s birdies that he cares about, but when Dick kisses him until they’re both breathless, presses him against the rough wall, the thrill of thinking that he’s corrupting Bruce’s golden boy is a delicious, dark thing.

In reality, he knows that Dick’s not a fucking saint, by anyone’s standards, but this is the person to whom he used to be compared and found lacking even before he died and came back a thing that maybe shouldn’t be—he’s not dumb to think that they would want him dead, per se, but when given the choice of never having him come back, Jason knows what they would all pick.

(It’s okay, he’d make the same choice.)

This is the first of the angels, the one they’re all shaped after, one way or another and whether or not they want to. And to know that he’s all hot for the one who was cast away, well, it does things to Jason. It has him dropping to his knees, looking up through his lashes and licking his lips with clear intent. This is something that Jason has never dreamed he could have, even in his wildest fantasies of a better and kinder world, and he wants to keep it, to reach beneath Dick’s ribs and make a place for himself there, drag Dick to hell with him, even if he knows the other man doesn’t deserve that, just so he’ll be less alone.

And Jason understands another thing about Dick: he’s ripe for it, really. For falling. He might not be a control freak at the level Bruce is, but he’s still reeling from having his own op botched, from having the carefully controlled environment and situation going haywire, and Jason knows how to use that to his favor, how to give Dick what he needs while taking a little bit for himself. Demons trade in souls, and, by the end of it, he’ll have Dick’s.

oops! i did it again. lessons from this school year...

Hey, you remember that post I made about my winter term priorities? HAHAHAHAHahaha ha ha. That plan totally went to shit, but it's all part of the journey, right? 😅 (Tbh, it's quite difficult to make a conscious effort to change yourself when the default response to being and feeling busy is to go on autopilot -> all the unconscious habits, even if unhealthy, take control, and bc it's unconscious, you don't realize it until it gets quite bad! anyway! no more! my future plans make it so this will be impossible to do while still retaining some sense of sanity. so to prep, we're gonna slowly implement little changes so hopefully it's not so overwhelming that i give up)

🧘🏻‍♀️ comparing mindsets in fall and winter term

Fall term was not that bad bc I had 2 STEM subjects I really really loved and was interested in (biochem and mol bio 💕), and despite their difficulty, that love and interest and the feeling that "I am in the right field for me" kept me positive. There were times I thought I would feel burnout symptoms if I wasn't careful, but I really think that positivity protected me from the worst of it.

Winter term, however...I had one favorite subject: moral philosophy, which led to me wistfully dreaming about an AU in which I double majored in philosophy and piano performance, lol. After the highs of biochem and mol bio and the natural ease with which the bits of info flowed together in those subjects, I did not enjoy pharmacology or the 2nd half of psyc as much -> loss of interest -> negativity and feeling like I'm in the wrong field bc how dare I not like pharmacology (or psychology) as much as the other life science-y subjects when it's really so important for us to survive and thrive! 😅 I mean, there were times I could get that spark from pharmacology or psyc, but it wasn't often enough or intense enough to keep me consistently inspired throughout the semester. The feeling of "maybe I don't have what it takes and I'm in the wrong field" was compounded by the re-realization that there's sm to know of bioinformatics and I struggle to know any of it! Persevering is important, but it's harder to persevere with a negative mindset.

😤 what went wrong this school year and what i learned from it

I still struggle with perfectionism (and bc of it, procrastination). While it might not be as bad as it was in high school, I still spent too long on assignments that weren't worth much and during finals season, was so scared of getting less than 90% just to keep up my A+ streak. Like, I'm pretty sure no one who cares to know your GPA cares about whether you have an A+ streak or not. I have too high a threshold for what is a "disappointing" grade. I also struggle with deep regret about how I haven't mastered everything they throw at us in each course... definitely an unrealistic expectation, especially as the proportion of new info to absorb increases with each course. I did what I could using what I knew to do, so it is what it is. I may find ways to make improvements and learn more, but I won't beat myself up for not having known to do those things in the past.

Did not use effective study methods. Since first year, my problem has been keeping up with the readings and my solution has been to just use typed outline notes. It worked for the first few years when it was mostly review from previous courses with a few new concepts in between. But as I progress through my degree, the proportion of completely new info is increasing. This notetaking method won't work anymore bc it just causes cognitive overload, especially during exam season (when I've mostly forgotten the details of everything that isn't smth I've already known for years). E.g. for pharmacology, I got so bogged down by the details of all the drug classes that I didn't see the big picture and so didn't organize the info according to it. This made it hard to see patterns and better chunk the info. I was so stressed during finals season bc of this (and the sheer amount of notes that I had to read for psyc 😭). What makes it feel like even more of a problem is that the cognitive overload problem from my notetaking method has been a thing for all other uni courses thus far, it's just that pharmacology was the first time I needed to create a stronger connecting thread between the otherwise disparate pieces of info (drug classes). In all other courses, that thread was part of the nature of the topic being studied so I eventually understood it as I kept going and mentally re-organized it in my brain...but even then it was hodge-podge and so my depth of mastery was and is so flimsy, and every semester I leave feeling drained and like I wasted the opportunity to maximize my learning. (How dramatic I get about this is also probably tied to my perfectionism, but I still think it would greatly benefit future me to change my notetaking style.)

🎓 advice for future me

Look at the academic calendar, specifically the faculty course descriptions. Look at how many hours they say you should expect to spend on each activity in the course. Try to use those learning hours as a guide for your schedule so that you don't spend too long on an item that isn't worth much. If there isn't such a breakdown, assume one based on whatever they give you or other courses and adjust from there.

Be a more efficient reader by skimming the text first so you can map the flow of info in a way that best creates ease of understanding/synthesis/memory (e.g. via an outline, tree diagram, flowchart, mind map, or simple drawings - and noticing when a list/outline will NOT be helpful bc it'll just be too overwhelming and not easy to compare/contrast info and see patterns). I knowww you've survived thus far without doing it this way and done well, BUT with this many courses, the increasing complexity of each subject, and the overload of info in each, you WILL need to do this to make quicker work of the readings, save you sooo much stress during exam seasons, and improve how much you learn while in school which is the real goal you've wanted to achieve all this time. Don't repeat the mistake you made in pharmacology. And it really doesn't have to be aesthetic and you definitely should NOT get caught up with it if you really wanna learn. You could just use one color for everything and a highlighter and just basic shapes/lines - that alone can be way more effective than boring paragraphs/lists or a colorful, overly complex diagram that'll just distract you from the main point.

Create a realistic daily routine (wake-up and sleep times, start and end times for schoolwork) and be strict about following it. Set your non-negotiables for personal goals to keep up with alongside your schoolwork bc academics aren't everything. Remember how you regretted not devoting more time to extra-curriculars and other skills in high school which would've rounded you out as a person. You can try theming the parts of the day so that you don't have to think about what task you should do first after study breaks and keep up the momentum (e.g. mornings for readings and notes, afternoons for active recall/homework). Then you can live the rest of the day after school as structured or unstructured as you wish. If this strategy doesn't work for you, you don't have to use it.

Take advantage of interleaving so you don't get bored. Whether by following the theming strategy or just switching subjects every hour, idc if you aren't done yet, you better switch bc the second consecutive hour of the same thing is never as effective as the first.

hello!!! i am also rather new to the sport and had to consume massive amounts of content from all over the place and frankly am still learning a lot all the time, so i'm not exactly an expert. what i can share are resources i relied on in my own ✨ descent into madness ✨ though !

so, my incomplete and questionable guide to selling your soul to f1:

it's all about how you like to learn and consume media tbh. i tried to watch a race initially, was confused, regrouped and started exploring. personally i watched all of dts up to the current season and then watched the first few races that i had missed while obsessively trawling twitter to learn more and waiting for my first live race (aka australia this year — massive rip). but it's up to you how you dive in!!

drive to survive

don’t get me wrong, dts has its issues — they invent drama, have some misleading portrayals, like to splice together clips from different race weekends together. it’s definitely more of a creative project than a straight up documentary.

that being said, it also explains a lot of the lore and history behind the sport, teams, and drivers in an entertaining fashion. it’s newcomer friendly so it explains the rules. yes, will buxton gets a lot of heat for stating the obvious, but some of those obvious explanations are helpful for the clueless.

there are also a lot of very cool shots and some good exclusive interviews that they get. sure, you can probably find them clipped on youtube, but may as well just watch dts. the first season is a little slow if you’re like me and want to see charles immediately (worth noting not all teams had agreed to participate s1), but that’s just me.

(plus: it’s entertaining. i live for drama. just take said drama with a grain of salt and assume it’s probably invented or blown out of proportion.)

the tiktok girlies

again: tiktok can be a bit hit or miss. you’ll see a lot of bad takes and pure cringe if you linger too long on f1 tiktok. but i started watching content from a few f1 girlies who seems reliable and had friendly introductory content. they’re generally very nice and happy to answer questions.

after a while i stopped watching them just because i no longer needed the intro information or explanations, but they did help fill in gaps and point out some of the inaccuracies of dts.

f1tv content

i am pretty sure f1tv isn’t available in all countries, but i have always watched races through f1tv. there are a lot of ways to watch races live illicitly if that’s what you prefer, and other countries have sky or other channels they can watch on (USA also has espn), but i prefer f1tv because i’m too lazy to find streams and don’t want to worry about stream issues mid race.

plus: f1tv comes with a whole archive of past seasons and a host of other media content during race weekends (ie, the fia press conferences on thursday, post-quali and post-race). they have a tech talk series that explains some of the technical aspects, do weekend warm-ups each race weekend that gives an update/context, and have been adding more intro content on the platform. there’s an app, which is convenient.

the f1tv stream also allows you to use the channel switcher to choose between your commentary options (f1tv or sky’s commentators), or to see the live timing data, or to see any of the driver onboards. it’s quick and you can switch back and forth easily. (if your computer can handle it — my mac often can’t — you can use multiviewer with your f1tv subscription to set up a bunch of different screens and panels to watch, for example, the main stream and a driver’s onboard. or multiple onboards. or whatever you want basically. personally i usually put the race on my ipad and the onboard on my phone, because that streams perfectly and multiviewer likes to kill my laptop.)

the downfall of f1tv is that they don’t have a smart tv app yet. idk why. it’s very irritating. it also might be a bit expensive to some, but i think it’s worth it.

f1 twitter (hell)

it’s a minefield out there. truly. BUT my next big question, after starting to get into watching races live and watching some old seasons and learning how it works, is how people seemed to always be in the know about paddock gossip. i wanted to know about it as it was happening and see the ~drama~ unfold live and feel like i was part of the season actually occurring.

so: twitter. follow your teams, follow your drivers, the for you tab is actually your friend here because it’ll bring new journalists and f1 commentators into your orbit as you learn who is who. some of the big driver fan pages operate as sources of information and updates with relative stealth if not immediate updating.

at this point i follow enough people (and have infected my algorithm enough) that i tend to see gossip and updates across most of the teams. big news tends to get shared by everyone anyway.

if you prefer tumblr, you can still get A Lot of updates on drama and gossip pretty quickly. there is a bit of a delay between information hitting twitter and information hitting tumblr (partially because none of the official teams or drivers have accounts on tumblr; partially because of the amount of people on f1twt versus f1blr). BUT, a lot of us tumblr girlies liveblog during the races and sessions and bring any crucial content over from twitter to share here, so the info will probably be here eventually/soonish. (following the race tags each weekend will prob give you a lot of the quick updates live.)

Thank you. Grab a cup of tea, this is so silly but I just need to tell someone, and I don't want to worry my friends. I've been... I'm not sure if bullied is the right term, but some people at work have been pretty mean to me these past months. It got really bad a few weeks ago, bad enough that I broke down and cried with my boss because it's just insidious enough that you can't act right away, it's small things, like lying about my schedule to make me look bad, tell me lies so I look stupid in presentations in front of people (I'll definitely exorcise all of this in a fic one day). My boss kept telling me he thought it was just honest mistakes from them, but he would talk to them and I think it worked to an extend. Except today was the Christmas party (God I sound like a bad Netflix movie). I helped them. We had to be dressed up in silly costumes so I did it. And was basically excluded from the whole thing. A few people from other services came to tell me they felt a little bad for me. And while I don't really care (this is just stupid work stuff) it's just so mean spirited it's getting to me tonight. They did the same thing to another guy (one of my friends) months ago. And tonight while it was happening I was thinking "oh yeah. it's my turn now". It makes me sad because now everyone just know something is wrong. Everyone want to ask me if I'm okay. And I want to pretend I am, because again, this is silly, but at the same time I want to be honest. It hurts being excluded. It sucks knowing this is just because these people don't like me "because I'm too nice, boring and don't fit in" (their words). I don't celebrate Christmas with my family anymore so this was the only time I could pretend to be normal and well. Now if I say something I'm the bad guy who's blowing this out of proportion. So I'll keep smiling and telling people I'm okay with this. But it sucks. Oh, and I ranted enough so I'll stop here but they did the same for my birthday. Told me they organized a party for me and long story short, there was no party when I showed up. I'm sad. That's it. I'm just sad.

Bestie your coworkers sound like awful people first of all. SECOND I am SO sorry you’re going through this ☹️🫶 aren’t work politics just the fucking worst?? In early college I worked at a clothing store and the people there just did NOT fw me in the slightest and there was one girl in particular who would constantly make jokes about how she was annoyed when we got scheduled together or when I would ask for help on things I didn’t know how to do. I think I left crying nearly every single day that I worked there, but it was just also this feeling of WHYYY are you treating me like this? Like what on earth do you gain by being a shitty person to a colleague??

I’m sorry they excluded you from the Christmas party, that’s supposed to be a fun time and it’s so insidious to gang up on you like that. I would’ve cried to my boss too! But I think what you’re doing right now is the best thing you can do- persist and smile through it. Don’t give them the reaction they want, at least not in front of them. Your personality will get you just about anywhere these days, and the more you can build on your strength of putting up with shitty people, the more you can use that skill to get you even further than they are in life. They’ll just be stuck being miserable pieces of shit who find joy in bullying others (yes that’s literally bullying) and YOU will be the bigger person who learned how to live through it and tell the tale. Keep your head up, these people aren’t worth a second of your spare thoughts or your tears!!! And if you’re ever around them and they’re being pieces of shit you can always message me on here and we will talk shit about them in real time. OKAY? Okay. I love u. And you deserve better!! Random media i love and want to recommend:

Saving Me (animated tv show) - A Canadian show about a brilliant 61 y/o inventor who, upon realizing that he's driven away everyone he ever loved, projects himself into the mind of his 12 y/o self to help save his (their?) relationships before they crash and burn. This show gives me super intense Gravity Falls vibes, in the sense that it's basically just what would happen if Ford Pines went back in time to help his child self. It also has a lot of interesting plot pieces that slowly connect over the course of the series. Currently has two seasons.

Daybreaking Romance (manhwa) - A Korean manhwa following three different college couples and their romantic escapades. This is very slice of life but also features comedic misunderstandings of epic proportions and grounded examinations of people, not to mention plenty of nice lighthearted emotional turmoil. Also two of the main characters (Saebyeok and Yeomyoung) are the most autistic twins you'll ever meet. Check it out if you like simping boyfriends, aesthetically pleasing artwork, and misunderstandings that drive you up the wall in a good way (if you're a Miraculous Ladybug fan you'll probably like this one lol). Unfortunately there's no official English translation so you'll have to read it online.

Mision: Yozakura Family (manga) - a recent(ish) Japanese manga about a high schooler who accidentally gets married to the head of a family of spies and is adopted into the family business. Now I've complained about this series in the past, but I'm still recommending it because it's funny and sweet, all of the characters are easy to love, and the main couple are incredibly shippable. Plus its myth arc is shaping up to be incredibly interesting!

The Goes Wrong Show (tv series) - a British comedy series with the premise "what if an amateur theater group tried to put on shows and they went disastrously wrong?" It's the most hysterical, side-splitting show I've ever seen - I'm not kidding when I say every episode makes me choke with laughter. The craftsmanship is also top notch. You will not BELIEVE what sort of things these actors will go through for the sake of the bit. There are two series (seasons) plus a handful of holiday specials and a wholeass movie. Also, the entire series is free on YouTube!

Small Kingdoms (book by Charlaine Harris) - a short story collection, all featuring the same character: Anne DeWhitt, an assassin trainer turned high school principal. The writing is clean and concise, in a way that grips you right from the first sentence and doesn't let go; I also really love the characters, who are delightfully practical and also super endearing. Definitely recommended if you like thrillers, good writing, and short reads.

Eerie Tales From The School of Screams (graphic novel) - a recent horror anthology comic. It's middle grade fiction, but hoooo boy it's the sort of book kids will come back to as adults and be like "holy shit, this was for kids???" You might recognize the author and artist (Graham Annable) because he's done a bunch of comics/comic strips and also worked on movies like Boxtrolls and Coraline. This one has a bunch of body horror and creepy art so genuinely don't read it if you're not interested in horror horror ^^'

Because idk if I’m going crazy but like as a gay person this shit seems borderline homophobic? On the one hand I kinda get where they’re coming from with like the concert “plot” (idk what else to call it 😭), but otherwise seeing how they interact with each other in off-screen/stage moments and their chemistry and the huge ass difference with the entire cast, how they interact with each other vs others, the side couples energy with each other, it’s not that big of a leap… and to imply that it’s dumb or naive for ppl (lots of them queer themselves) to perceive that smells like homophobia to me… idk

I’m not even trying to be mad abt the mileapo thing bc frankly i don’t give a shit what people do or don’t believe about two actors but it’s the dismissive tone of such comments that pisses me off, and I was wondering if maybe you or any of your followers have some thoughts about this too.

I'm hearing a couple of things in your question, part of which I'm guessing is just being able vent (glad to provide the space!) but the crux of which is commenting on the irony of homophobia in Kinnporshe / BL fandom. And yeah. You're not imagining it.

CW: Homophobia. I'm serious, this is your only warning. Some of this really upset me today and I'm pretty good at compartmentalizing.

I saw this after I got your ask and already spent some time thinking about how to respond, but these comments were in response to Tong coming out at KPWT Manila on Tiktok. I hate looking at them, but I'll embed them in case the tweet ever gets deleted as a reminder that EQUALITY IS NOT REAL IN THIS WORLD.

I won't lie, this hurt my feelings a lot and it's not even about me. I spent half a second being mad before just being sad about this for hours.

I've been into BL for so long, I am tired of this round-about argument we keep having over women, many of whom are queer or questioning, enjoying queer stories where the characters are male. There are culturally-adept literary and queer studies scholars who do research on this.

That being said, a not-small proportion of the fan base is made people who are genuinely homophobic and use BL as their fantasy. Just like watching lesbian porn doesn't make straight men allies, neither does watching BL make straight women allies. I am too exhausted to explain why they do but it's basically a mix of misogyny in not wanting to see other female actors opposite an actor you like but also using queer men as placeholders for your fantasy. Sometimes in fiction, but other times in reality.

I'm with @mirrorofprinces, we need to attack more homophobes for this. 😒😒😒 no more fighting over gay rights, time for KPTS-inspired gay wrongs and gay violence on the gaygenda.

The "delulu" and "it's just fanservice" comments are...indeed kind of homophobic. I respect people who don't want to comment on or interpret their relationship, like you said, or interpret it differently. And it kind of sucks to be like "well some people will be homophobic and you have to share a space with them" in fandom about a queer story, but how do you confront people, some of whom are happy to be openly homophobic, about homophobia that is more nuanced?

But I think one thing that undermines MileApo's authenticity is that BibleBuild do so much fan service despite also claiming not to. Fan service is a Thai BL industry standard with other actor pairs. And as a reality check to myself, I have looked at some of those pairs interacting and yeah. Definitely brotherly or fan service there.

The other part of the problem is young people, especially after the pandemic, genuinely do not seem to know what normal human interaction looks like, including the difference between what's fake and what's real AND what's platonic vs. what's flirty or romantic affection.

As for what my friends/moots think, here's @mellowroxy and @cookiedoughfiesta's thoughts from August about Mile saying he was in love with Apo about the "delulu" comments. (Though let's be real... sometimes the fandom is also... a bit much 🤣🤣🤣)

When I talked to Yams (@mellowroxy) about this earlier, here's what she had to add on to the point:

Me: fans were freaking out when Tom called Zendaya 'my MJ' on his birthday wish to her, and that's way more subtle than what Mile and Apo are doing

Yams: There wouldn’t be this much push back if it was a guy and girl. Most people would be like “oh another on set romance” and call it a day. On the Zendaya and Tom topic, if this was decades back when interracial couples were taboo as fuck then they wouldn’t come out as well.

A conscious reminder equality has always been hard-fought for.

But trust me, this paradox of people who watch BL who are homophobic have not escaped Mile and Apo's notice either.

"Equality isn't real in this world."

Apo's comment at KPWT Bangkok day 2, which many people have noted was likely about complaints over them reenacting Kinn and Porsche's first kiss live. I'm not going to look for it but @soft-husbands mentioned she saw a fancam that blurred the kiss out on Youtube 😑 (Why did you watch KPTS in the first place then.)

"People say that they are open minded, But they are actually not."

And isn't that the crux of it.

As I always say, you haven't have an opinion on the truth. So in the end, no one's opinions on the situation matters except for Mile's and Apo's. But it does suck to bear the brunt of people's negativity doesn't it.

Hopefully this didn't make you feel more sad... but you're not alone in noticing it at least.

let’s be honest it was only a matter of time before i babygirlified an old man

closeups and (many) design notes under the cut :)

ok design notes time (these r mainly for the narrator bc. well. stanley has an actual physical appearance):

- while thinking of how to design the narrator i got the idea that he took one of the models in the audience for the ending where stanley gives a speech and edited it to make his “human” form

- because of this i wanted to include a bunch of little things that he “got wrong” during the process of mimicking a human. most of them get ironed out when stanley points out how weird they are but some of them stay

- to name a couple, his teeth are all flat- no canines or molars. also his little headset + glasses have nothing that actually attach them to his head. they just Are There. not to mention his interesting fashion sense of tie + turtleneck + blazer (he defends this choice no matter how much stanley laughs at him). he’s just weird enough to be slightly uncanny- it’s an imitation, not the real thing

- since i’m indecisive as hell he’s a bit of a shapeshifter. he actually doesn’t use his physical model in-game a lot and tends to just show up in things. shadows, reflective surfaces, screens, etc. even more often than that he’s just his voice

- bc he plays the guitar in the out of bounds ending i am now convinced that he can play many instruments. that little piano in the memory zone before the first review? yeah he’s there playing that in-game he’s just not visible to you

- designing his hair was SO DIFFICULT i literally went searching thru the tag for inspo and i liked so many different things. after a struggle (you can see a slicked-back attempt in the shadow idea doodle) i eventually decided on the style shown in his main drawing. every time i draw it i fight so hard to make it distinct from miles edgeworth. to make this easier the cowlicks aren’t too pronounced and the larger bang is more of a fringe. it still sometimes looks like miles edgeworth whoops

- some of my favorite fanon design things are the Line™ tie the square glasses and the little gay ass highlight so i knew i had to include them. those were my only definite choices going into this

- once again bc i’m indecisive the narrator can scale his model up or down as he pleases. he prefers to be bigger than stanley but stanley complains that it “makes his proportions weird” because he’s “short-coded” so sometimes he goes to a more human size.

- the narrator being stout just makes sense to me it’s correct in my soul (i actually think i drew him too skinny in most of these. i just didn’t wanna redraw shit bc i am tired but if/when i draw him again he will be less skinny)

- i wanted to work with shape language a lot because the narrator’s whole character is a voice- i wanted to make sure i captured the vibe of some stuffy old writer who has an undeniable silly streak. so he is squares and circles (his tie is the only triangle save for maybe the hair)

- for similar reasons stanley is squares and triangles. felt right

- speaking of stanley his soul patch is a goatee now bc i hate soul patches with a boiling passion. so now it’s a goatee

- i also gave him a little beauty mark by his right eye. i don’t know why i just knew in my heart that it was correct

- stanley uses asl and not bsl because i want to learn asl sososososo bad and this just might be the thing to get me to actually do it. he can project his thoughts to the narrator but he doesn’t like it so he almost always signs

Tubbo IS DONE with tommy asking if hes hot so hes like fuck it whatever

kind of derailing from the ask, but i feel like tubbo doesn’t really care about tommy flirting with him as much as people make it out to be. don’t get me wrong, tommy definitely has a history of taking it too far and actually making tubbo upset, and tubbo definitely doesn’t like it, but i feel like people blow it way out of proportion. i think tubbos main problem with it is it happening in front of an audience, you know?

i say that because clingy is 100% an off camera relationship, despite the fact that they make content together, and i think their dynamic is completely different (to an extent) when they’re not in front of the internet. i think this is one of the parts where the distinction between “tommy” and “tubbo” versus “tom” and “toby” really matters. the way tubbo talks about tommy (tom) when asked about him completely misaligns with the perception and character of “tommy”, which is usually the persona that people are asking about. i think he’s even said on stream after being asked how he feels about tommy that people don’t seem to understand that tommy isn’t “tommy” all the time, that he really doesn’t behave like that 24/7. that tubbo sees him as a good friend and a good person. if you ask tubbo about tommy, he doesn’t think about “tommy”, he thinks about tom.

point being, i really don’t think tubbo (toby) gives much of a shit about the slightly more “homoerotic” instances of their relationship in real life, and i don’t think tommy (tom) creates those instances anywhere near as much as he does on camera. one example could be the tubbo alt stream where tommy runs from his office to tubbos house and complains that tubbo didn’t give him a big hug and a little kiss for it, to which tubbo tells tommy, “what, you want a little kiss? i’ll give you a little kiss”, smirking and obviously fucking with tommy. tommy immediately backs down, of course, and tubbo says he didn’t think so. it’s only one instance, but i think it’s a good example of the fact that their relationship isn’t just this one sided thing people act like it is. tubbo isn’t this prudish, virginal, innocent little bumblebee people treat him like, and tommy isn’t as much of a boldfaced shithead as he pretends he is. i think realistically, in real life, they are a normal pair of best friends that aren’t any more or less weird about each other than the average friendship. if tommy asks tubbo what he thinks of his new haircut, tubbo is gonna tell him without any of the “ew why you asking me get your own damn opinion 🙄” he would normally give on camera.

with that in mind, something else to consider is tommy’s content brain and how acutely aware he is of what people like about his dynamics with other people and how to hit each of those points perfectly. the best examples of it are clingyduo and crimeboys. he understands the key principles of their dynamic, particularly the fact that tommy is obsessed with tubbo and how that makes him act. that’s where the gay jokes and possessiveness and controlling nature come from, even if they do stem from tommy and tubbos genuine dynamic, especially when they were younger. back then it was charming and sweet because they were just that excited to play with each other, now it’s frustrating because it’s just tommy being mean to tubbo. plus, sometimes tommy antagonizing tubbo is really to try and make tubbo laugh, because sometimes it does work! my clingy cinematic parallels post is an example.

if tommy’s drive to push the dynamic is his content brain, tubbos resistance against it is his want for privacy. people often ask how tubbo went from “i don’t blame people who ship us” to where he is now, but i think tubbos original statement is pretty self explanatory. i mean, they’re literally called clingyduo. they both very obviously display a lot of affection towards each other, and they can’t really hide it because it’s part of their natural chemistry. speaking from personal experience, when you have a relationship like that, people pick up on it and they get fucking ANNOYING. depending on the kind of person you are or what you value, you react differently to people being weird about it. some people (tommy) lean into it, play it up, stick up a middle finger. other people (tubbo) retreat, keep that relationship more private, stick the middle finger up behind their back. best example of this in action is when tommy says i love you or something else sweet to tubbo and tubbo responds "people dont take it like that". if tubbo played along with the bit, he would get chained to it, and the audience would ruin his relationship with tommy. obviously he doesn't want that, cue the tubbo shutting almost all tommy affection/gaybaiting down.

I definitely don't have the time to write a full fic at the moment & it's exactly midnight and therefore past my bedtime right now & I'm too late for valentine's day by more than a day now anyway, but I had Thoughts so you get the bare bones of the fic in just dialogue under the cut, who knows if I get some reblogs I might turn it into something longer on Ao3 when I have the time!

(team talk ends with among others Markus needing valentine's day off work to try and save his relationship, Deborah just nods and waves her hand for him and everyone to leave, leaving her and Ava sitting next to each other)

A: So. Valentine's day...

D: Don't tell me you also need the day off. I know you're not in a relationship that would warrant that, do you really need to schedule your one night stand on that day?

A: no! Ugh, no. I don't need the day off, I just wanted to ask, because we were already on the topic... Valentine's day. Thoughts?

D: -_-

A: like it, hate it love it, don't care? Cause, well, I mean, it's definitely a capitalistic dystopia invention to just sell more shit on another invented holiday and stress everybody out about making the day perfect and romantic... But it's also kinda cute how schoolkids give their entire class friend valentines and sweets and stuff, right? Though I guess we already have Christmas for cards like that and Halloween for candy... But valentine's day kind of went off with the candy heart aesthetic! Of course all unimportant compared to the dangerous way it proports amatonormativity...

D: what now

A: amatonormativity! You know I already explained heteronormativity to you -

D: too many times than I cared to listen

A: if you listened the first time I wouldn't have had to - anyway. Like heteronormativity is about how the society is all about straight couples being normal and expected, amatonormativity is about how romantic love in general is like that, too! I mean sure falling in love is great and all but that's not the only love there is! Some people never fall in love and that's okay! And even if you do, that doesn't have to make that relationship the most important one for you, people are capable of having important platonic and not-romantic relationships, I mean friendships and stuff... And, back to valentine's day, no shut up I'm getting to the point already, valentine's day makes people think that there's something wrong with them when they don't have a significant other because it looks like everyone has one or at least wants one!

D: I wasn't interrupting-

D: okay I was but I was just going to say I think I get it. Important platonic relationships, they can be more important than romance. A bit like us two.

A: looking down) oh, uh. Yeah? I guess...

A: no! No, (reaches for Deborah's hand) definitely not. I mean, you're importantly to me too. And I'd love to spend valentines day with you.

D: (looks at her, sees that despite her best efforts not to, Ava is blushing) ...oh.

D: I suppose I should have used me and Kiki as an example for that important platonic relationship. Does that make us a part of the unimportant amatonormativity now?

A: (splutters) Deborah!

I remember also seeing somewhere that someone said RTD would have to put blood, sweat, and tears into proving that people wouldn’t be showing up to the BBC with pitchforks and torches for them to even consider having a trans character who was as well represented as Rose. However, I should also point out that I know absolutely nothing about the BBC since I’m a born and raised American, so I could definitely be wrong on how true that is (even though I absolutely would not be surprised if it is). But also if it is true, rounds of applause because I can bet most media networks here still could never for a good handful of years.

Basically I think the fact that it was only 144 complaints out of over 7 million people watching is very telling that whatever proof RTD probably had to show to the BBC was 100% solidified. Dude proved that it really is just the conspiracy nuts and people of the Fox News religion that make the world seem like it’s worse than it is.

Yeah so the BBC is public funded TV rather than relying on advertising for income so their whole deal is that they SHOULD be representing all tax payers in their programming. A lot of older conservative people tend to forget this and feel that anything that deviates from the "norm" is an incorrect use of "their money" so they get on their high horses and complain like the snowflakes they are.

The BBC SHOULD be pushing boundaries and taking risks with their stuff, but they are still resistant and no where near as forward thinking as say Channel 4 - whose whole deal was about pushing boundaries and attracting a younger more liberal audience.

I can well believe RTD had to fight for Rose's inclusion but the truth is the "trans panic" is very much an invention of the right wing media, right wing politicians, and hateful assholes like JK Rowling. Regular people in the UK quite frankly don't give a shit. They may get irritated for a bit when a new click bait article appears with some incendiary comment like "nurses no longer allowed to call female people "women" and have to refer to everyone by their genitalia" which we know is a bullshit twist on the truth but after rolling their eyes and having a few morons go on facebook rants, no one is gathering pitchforks and torches in the UK with a mind to round up and attack all trans people. Yes there is potentially a rise in hate crimes DUE TO the medias trans panic invention, but I hope that the minimal complaints and the popularity of that episode can at least show some trans people that the UK is not as bad as it has been made out to be these past few years.

Thats also partly why i have commented on two posts about the 144 complaints now, because i can see trans people on tumblr getting upset about it when in the bigger picture its totally irrelevant and nothing to be worried about. You are just as likely to be taken in by the media's fake trans panic as anyone else, but young fearful trans people are more likely to get upset by it when its all been blown out of proportion. 144 complaints is a regular episode of Eastenders. The BBC wont pay attention to that nonsense so please take comfort in that.

F is for fights Do they bicker a lot? About trivial things? How do they make up after a large fight?

Well I feel like they get past beating the shit out of each other at least.

I feel like Nagisa learns to assert himself more, so you get basically a constant stream of bickering. But I also feel like it's their weird way of showing affection for each other.

They usually fight about really dumb things and it's usually out of proportion because they're both incredibly stubborn when they want to be.

I think they do have nasty fights sometimes, usually ones that have built up over a long period of avoiding the issue finally coming out. I don't think it would get physical ever though, aside from Nagisa yeeting a pillow at his head or something. But they certainly yell at each other. And then proceed to not talk for days until someone cracks.

Ultimately I think their communication improves, but it's never exactly the BEST. And usually, they just need some time to feel angry with each other before wanting to resolve anything. I'd say it's about equal who takes the first step, dependant on what actually happened. They can both (eventually) admit when they're wrong at least.

Stalemate is broken by rock paper scissors.

I is for illness Do they care for each other when they're sick?

Nagisa's definitely better at it. He might show annoyance if he perceives it to be Karma's own fault, but he's pretty caring. I feel like Karma's kinda clingy when he's sick, so Nagisa's not going anywhere even if he wanted to.

Karma... I feel like he takes the opportunity to tease Nagisa whenever he's sick. Make fun of him for looking like shit etc. But when it comes down to it he'll play nurse. Even if it involves strange 'cures' his parents tended to favour.

Though, Nagisa strikes me as the type who doesn't ever want to admit he's too sick to do work. He's determined to be there even if it's the apocalypse. Karma's had to straight up restrain him a couple of times.

O is for outsiders What do other people think of their relationship? Have they ever been walked in on?

I think 3E have mixed reactions. Some are generally supportive/indifferent. Some are a little surprised. Others maybe a little concerned. Especially Sugino. Like, he'll never be outright rude to Karma or anything, he doesn't even not like him. He just... wants to make sure Nagisa's happy.

He tries to give Karma some kind of shovel talk. It doesn't really go down how he expected it to. Threats don't really suit him though. At least Kayano's there to do that part. Is she happy for them generally, in spite of everything? Yes. But she's also scarier with Sugino. Sorry Sugino. But hey, his name is literally 'friendly person' so.

Nakamura makes many jokes at their expense. Karma, not knowing about her actual crush on Nagisa, fires back that she's jealous.

I feel like their senses are probably too good for them to be walked in on really. Though, there are probably times where maybe they look all casual, but they were definitely up to something.

If we talk 3E timeline, I think Korosensei would be into it. Like, he'd mourn his lost ships, but I think the plot twist drama would be too interesting. They'd probably fake break up at some point, and it depresses him so much the class actually get pretty close to killing him.

S is for secrets Do they keep secrets from each other? Do they plan surprises?

I don't think they have intentional secrets. They just don't naturally talk about certain things with each other. No matter how close they are otherwise, I don't think they're ever the type of couple who tell each other literally everything. And they probably keep other people's secrets from each other.

Karma's definitely more spontaneous, so maybe he's more into surprises. He probably learns pretty quick that Nagisa doesn't like them that much, though, and so just tells him if, say, he feels like going on a trip somewhere.

They try to sneak up on each other sometimes for fun. It never ends that well.

A lot of shit gets over blown when it comes to max. Mostly because he is the only one of this generation drivers to fight for wins with the older generation. He never backed down in a fight with champions which makes the champion's fans hate him because they expect him to bow down or something... he is 25 which is younger than half the drivers on the grid and is top 5 wins all time

His drive for win is also understandable because he was the next best thing with a car which used to break down if the wind blew faster..so fought tooth and nail for each of his wins till 2022..now he has a car that is fast he is cruising to his wins

People who say he is racist for saying mongol when he was a teenager..he even apologised saying as a Dutch he grew up with a different meaning of the word. Mind u a lot of other driver especially the darlings of f1 did way worse...the British media blew it out of proportion. The same British media that called a Chinese driver a slur(not in a derogatory sense but slur none the less) on the broadcast which got swept underth rug..the media knows he is the only that can challenge their golden boy but and combined with the fact that he doesn't give a shit about them they hate him

Everyone who met him says he is the sweetest..and he is insanely talented..he lives his life exactly how everyone wants to live I.e. idaf kind of life and everyone hates that he can do that and still stay on top of the game.

In short he is HIM

Yeah and I have seen other people and of course his fellow drivers also saying that he is a very kind person, so you definitely have to take that inconsideration, since they know him.

Of course people don't like him because he wins as well. They want their team to win lol

Now I don't know if he has done other things that make people hate him, but I don't think it is wrong to appreciate him in racing only, especially that at least in his career with his teammates, colleagues, etc., he is generally very nice.

Loved reading your thoughts on the show, oh godd yess I love Chrishell and I genuinely don't see how someone can look at the whole issue between her and Nicole and think she's in the wrong there, especially when Chrishell didn't even take any money of that deal( which even if she did would not have been a big deal because her name was on the freaking listing!!) and implying that she got it just because Jason had a crush on her that was so damaging cause it somehow reduces her proffesional accomplishments to if a guy had a crush on her which was so juvenile, and I was laughing at that drugs bit and the whole storming off and everything because yeah considering their lifestyles they probably do take drugs and the blatant refusal that no I've never done them from Nicole was just like seriously, honestly this fight even wasn't that fun cause Nicole is such a boring "villain" in a sense she just seems to be after Chrishell loll, I was side eyeing Jason's new relationship a bit especially when he was like she's not 24 she turned 25 today like seriously, and yeah while I did feel bad for Mary she is not a good boss, I'm always oscillating on Chelsea I loved the way she called out Nicole but she has a raging superiority complex, Heather just seems pointless to me and I'm liking bre being firm and not taking Chelsea's shit also this got like way too long but I just had so many thoughts and yes will definitely listen to the podcast it sounds so funn
