Why aren’t you buying the UFO stuff? Normally I wouldn’t give it much credence, but I thought it was interesting that the Inspector General called the whistleblower’s claims “credible and urgent.”
I don't give it much credence, because the whisteblower in question seems sketchy to me. His claims are quite sweeping - not only that there are legitimate UFO sightings, but also that world governments have both "intact and partially intact vehicles” and "nonhuman... biologics" (i.e alien bodies) and are engaged in a Cold War to reverse-engineer alien technology, and are covering all of this up. Given what we know of real-life conspiracies, I don't think it's credible that you could have this much coordinated activity involving multiple branches of the military and intelligence and scientific communities of multiple governments and have it remain clandestine.
At the same time, his evidence for his claims is remarkably weak. As Grusch himself admits, he's not a first-hand account and is just repeating what he's been told, and he doesn't have any corroborating evidence of either vehicles or aliens or an R&D Cold War or a cover-up (which you would think his sources could have provided if they were credible, given how much government documentation there would be if this conspiracy was actually happening at the level and scale that is claimed).
Tumblr media
It's entirely possible that, just like the journalists who the whistleblower went to (who have a long history of writing about UFOs and other new agey topics), Grusch happens to be someone who be someone who believes in aliens and other new agey topics, as well as being a former government intelligence official. He wouldn't be the first guy in that position that these two journalists have run with - a couple years ago, they quoted a guy called Eric Davis (a Pentagon consultant and subcontractor) who had similar claims about UFOs, who also happens to believe that "psychic teleportation" is real - interesting that they don't talk about him any more.
So yeah, when we combine a very strong claim, very weak evidence, and a pattern of sources who are out to lunch on multiple topics, my level of skepticism is pretty high.

Capitalism, Socialism, and the Climate Crisis
by Paul S. Adler, Organization Theory, March 29, 2022
Abstract The climate crisis calls for a massive and rapid retooling of our economy and society. I argue that we have reasons to doubt that capitalism, even reformed, could meet that challenge. As an alternative solution, authoritarian socialism such as existed in the former Soviet Union or China would be neither attractive nor effective; by contrast, a democratic form of socialism might be both. In a democratic socialist society, we would govern democratically both our enterprises and our economy as a whole. Democratizing the governance of enterprises would help them make better tradeoff decisions and internalize some important externalities. But if they remain at the mercy of capitalist competition in product, labor, and financial markets, many enterprises will be economically unable to retool fast enough, so we also need to pool the country’s economic resources and manage them democratically, collectively, and strategically towards our shared environmental, social, and economic goals. Organizational research on corporate strategic management offers insights into how such an economic system could satisfy four key requirements for a successful fight against climate change—democracy, innovation, efficiency, and motivation.

Real fucking weird that I accidentally became a political scientist. I was like, "Oh I'll get a public administration degree so I can do gay nonprofit shit" and then found out in my first semester that public admin is technically political science. Like what am I supposed to do now, fuck up the world for the next generation?

I got into this field to make the world a better place and that’s what I’m going to do.

idk man, maybe it's the exam season or something but I feel like making a post about what kind of administration would the KoP guys be in favour of.
Is it because I'm studying Public Administration, I wonder? LMFAO
Some examples include - Scientific Management (F. W. Taylor), Ideal-Type Bureaucracy (Max Weber), Human Relations theory (Elton Mayo), Rational Decision-Making (Herbert Simon), Ecological Approach (Fred Riggs) and more.
Am I abusing my course? MAYBE BUT IDK IT SOUNDS FUN
Maybe I could also do something like which IR theory relates to which KoP guy? i should really go study HAHA

Sorry I'm kind of dissociated and my vocab crashes during that can you explain the Biden drug thing in just. Shorter simple sentences.
Sure! You're not the only one who's mentioned being unclear on what it means either, and I'm happy to help
(Context for anyone else: US Sets Policy to Seize Patents of Government-Funded Drugs if Price Deemed Too High, via Good News Network, December 11, 2023)
From the very basics:
When drug companies create new drugs, they get a legal protection called a "patent." The patent means no one else can make or sell the same drug for whatever number of years.
Usually, this is about 10 years after the drug starts being sold to the public.
So, for those years, that one drug company is the only source of whatever medication. And since people need their medication, drug companies can charge however much money they want.
Meaning a lot of drugs that people need to live cost way too much money to buy.
So, with this, Biden told drug companies "Fuck you, if you keep making medicine too $$$ for people to afford, I'm giving your competition the right to make and sell those drugs too."
The US has never done anything like this before.
This is a huge threat to the whole (awful) drug industry in the US. It will save people thousands of dollars. If he does this, it will save lives.
--
Edit 12/17/23: Quick note, as people have said in the notes, this only applies to drugs made in part using taxpayer money. Which is! Literally all of them!

I'm Running For Office Again. It's Going About How You'd Expect.
I’m just kidding. Or maybe I’m not, I don’t know. Everywhere you look, for years now, you see people calling on the public to run for office. Something! Anything! There’s even an organization called “Run for Something,” and a lot of others that are variations of it. The idea is that people can, and should, be a part of the change they want to see in their communities. And to be clear: I totally…

US Government Rant
Oh, where do I even begin with the ever-so-efficient, flawless, and oh-so-transparent U.S. government? It's like watching a well-oiled machine run by geniuses who always have their citizens' best interests at heart! 🙄
I mean, it's truly astounding how they manage to navigate complex issues with such grace and decisiveness. The way they handle healthcare, for instance, is simply a masterclass in efficiency and compassion. It's so touching to see them bicker endlessly while millions of Americans struggle to afford basic medical care. But hey, who needs affordable healthcare when you can have endless debates, right?
Tumblr media
And let's not forget the political circus, where politicians put on a breathtaking show of finger-pointing, grandstanding, and empty promises. Who needs honest, transparent leadership when you can have politicians who can twist words better than a pretzel?
Of course, the U.S. government's track record on foreign policy is second to none. They've got a knack for intervening in other countries' affairs and leaving behind nothing but peace, stability, and gratitude from the locals. It's almost like they've mastered the art of winning hearts and minds on a global scale.
Oh, and the cherry on top is the awe-inspiring efficiency of the bureaucracy! The way they navigate through mounds of paperwork, red tape, and bureaucratic hurdles is truly awe-inspiring. It's almost as if they deliberately designed the system to make simple tasks as convoluted as possible.
But hey, let's not forget about the ever-growing national debt. Who needs to worry about living within your means when you can just keep borrowing and kicking the can down the road? It's not like future generations will have to deal with the consequences of our financial irresponsibility, right?
In conclusion, hats off to the U.S. government for consistently setting the bar high when it comes to, well, let's just say "unique" approaches to governance. It's truly a sight to behold, and we're all so lucky to witness this grand spectacle of political prowess and wisdom. Bravo! 👏

Harnessing the Potential of AI in Public Administration: Revolutionizing Governance for a Digital Era
Introduction In the realm of cutting-edge technological advancements, Daniel Reitberg, an accomplished AI expert, embarks on a captivating journey to unveil the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in public administration. This thought-provoking article delves into the diverse applications of AI, illuminating the path towards a new era of effective governance. By exploring real-world use cases, Reitberg demonstrates how AI is reshaping the landscape of public administration, empowering governments to navigate the challenges of the digital age.
The integration of AI within public administration breathes new life into citizen services, propelling governments to deliver personalized and efficient assistance. Through AI-powered chatbots and virtual assistants, governments can engage with citizens in real-time, addressing their queries and concerns with speed and precision. This not only enhances citizen satisfaction but also optimizes resource allocation, allowing human resources to focus on complex and strategic tasks. Additionally, AI's ability to analyze vast amounts of data equips governments with valuable insights into citizen behavior and preferences, enabling them to design targeted policies and services that align with the evolving needs of their constituents.

The impact of AI extends beyond citizen services, revolutionizing decision-making processes within public administration. By leveraging AI algorithms, governments can leverage predictive analytics and modeling techniques to forecast outcomes, detect patterns, and anticipate future needs. This empowers policymakers to make data-driven decisions, enabling them to address complex societal challenges with precision and efficiency. Moreover, AI plays a vital role in ensuring transparency and integrity within public administration. By automating administrative tasks and detecting anomalies, AI systems enhance accountability, streamline processes, and mitigate the risk of fraud or corruption, ultimately fostering trust between governments and their citizens.
Conclusion Daniel Reitberg's illuminating exploration of AI's potential in public administration showcases the profound impact this transformative technology can have on governance. From personalized citizen services to data-driven decision-making, AI unlocks a world of possibilities for governments seeking to embrace the digital age. As the boundaries of public administration continue to evolve, the integration of AI serves as a catalyst for innovative and effective governance. With a shared vision and strategic implementation, AI has the power to shape a future where public administration thrives in its mission to serve and uplift societies in a rapidly changing world.
