if a queer man loves his girlfriend he can be gay for her. i do not accept criticism

Absolutely tickles me that my friends not only came up with a ship name for Blythe/Raha (it's Blaha for the record) but send me memes about them (most of them are very wholesome)

In lieu of Stuff Your Kindle day, can we talk about the issue of how the m/m genre of books, romance or not, is almost entirely dominated by women? Can we talk about how the most recognisable gay couples in media are written by women? Can we talk about how queer men can't even write about ourselves, how we are only allowed to exist when it's from the point of view of a straight woman sexualising us?
Can we talk about that? Or am I going to get called misogynistic for pointing out the disparity between who gets the writing deals, & who gets their books turned into movies, & whose shit gets popular versus whose doesn't? Can we talk about how m/m fiction is only allowed when it appeals to a cishet gaze, or is that too much for tumblr to take?
Can we also talk about how trans queer men are even more hated by publishing? Can we talk about how we get shit from both sides? Can we talk about how books about the experiences of being a queer man, written by queer men, never get the same recognition as books written by women on this subject (barring academia which has its own problems)?
Can we talk about that? Can we?

I will always be a romangerri girl (gn) I don't care how delusional I seem. I will lick up every crumb of their weird psychosexual dynamic I don't care. he's a kitten, he's a pervert, he's a kicked puppy. she's a cutthroat bitch, she's the old guard, she's the only person that's ever shown him genuine care!!!! he will tear himself inside out just to get her to look at him again and she's can't look even for one second because if she gives in she will never be able to get that back!!! GOD!!!!

sometimes i forget the roudise jealousy/kiss plot in bob actually was like a Real thing that happened. like they kissed onscreen and everything. that feels like fanfic I always have a hard time remembering that they're canonically a semi-romantic pairing

I'm pan and I ship Marchil. Since when was shipping ever about if it was "gay enough" I have loads of gay ships, but none of them ship just because I want to ship something gay. As someone who is pan, it's all about character dynamics and how well or even just how interesting it would be for two characters to be in a relationship regardless of gender.
It's totally unfair to put down one ship, ignore all the aspects that make it an interesting ship, all because it is straight(-passing).
Agreed!
And listen, I’m glad I didn’t put that post in tags lol I want for it to be peaceful in my corner, but also I woke up to this nice ask and not 10 anons with bad takes! Overall success. The dunmeshi discord server I’m in is much better on this issue than tumblr, and for marchil specifically there are even people who doodle for it sometimes but never post it publically! Spreading positivity is so much more important than spreading negativity, and positivity for marchil is spreading indeed 🌟 Their arcs and specific dynamic is so unique I am so crazy about them, I should really get that post analyzing their arc in excruciating details done… Oh shit I knew I forgot to do something for valentines
Whiiich speaking of there’s also a lil marchil doodle I wanted to clean up and post yesterday, so I’m looking forward to finishing that soon. Oh and marchil edits… And marchil fics… Lol they are monopolising my schedule. AND SPEAKING OF marchil fics a new one got uploaded to ao3 yesterday!! By the og marchil fic writer warrior that made the first 2 ones… And while I’m on the topic! There are two fics on Pixiv for them (besides mines) here tagged chirumaru, if like me you re desperate and want to scout out the whole internet for marchil content. Although, artworks are instead tagged maruchiru here for some reason. We are small but we are there 💥 Edit: ANOTHER NEW FIC TODAY?!! Stonks omfg
Happy Dungeon Meshi Thursday!! And Adventurer’s Bible 2 dropping! Expect things to be added into the marchil crumbs masterpost if not full new posts hehe

I know that most of people who said that they didn't like Huntlow because it was underdeveloped are lying because is this not the same fandom that shipped Hunter and Edric before season 2 came out.

i kinda have never seen the appeal of bi4bi ships like i get why people like it in theory but whenever it happens (and it happens so rarely the only two times i've seen it like canonically it was fangs and toni in riverdale which..was the most boring couple ever and big red and ahslyn in hsmtmts and like. the biphobia allegations the writers got for the way they wrote big red in s4 were kinda deserved and for me to be saying that it has to be bad. like it was just weird. but anyway just not ships i care about and them being bi didn't change anything at all in their relationship) they're portrayed exactly like any other m/f ship so it's like. it's nice to have characters who aren't straight for sure but if their queerness isn't gonna add anything to the relationship i would rather have a gay couple😭

Question for historical tumblr. Are there any good sources for reading up on queer history during the early 1800s in England?
For various reasons my googling has come up short and I could use an extra hand. Anything specifically pertaining to terminology, general attitudes, and symbols used within the queer community during that time period would be much appreciated. Thanks!

“it reminds me way too much of when an iconic eccentric/unattached/ambiguously-queer-in-some-way character like L gets matched up in a kinda bland heterosexual arrangement”
this confuses me bc queer people can be in m/f relationships and that doesn’t make them heterosexual :(
Nah I just mean like, when the writers see those characters they often aren't considering or willfully ignoring the vibes that they're maybe gay or something and just like "we need to give this one a proper straight relationship too" type deal
