Just started TLJ for fun because it was a Long Day and I wanted some form of distraction that didn't involve the current Ghost Crew kinda high stakes episode I was halfway through and I must say..... this is so strange to me
#the brief scenes with paige just gutted me#you know that post about the unnamed servant in king lear (i THINK it's king lear at least) that has that cs lewis quote#that's paige. like. that's literally her that's her role in the story that's what she chooses to do and that's why#poe's Personally Sanctioned mission to destroy the dreadnought or whatever it's called succeeds. it's because of her#not gonna lie i wish we saw more of her!!!!!#anyhow there are a lot of things that were little gems. like our intro to rose is her sitting alone in an empty space sobbing#because she lost her sister as she's clutching the matching necklace. that was a really good bit#and finn being like. WHERE'S REY. HOW CAN SHE GET TO US IN THIS CHAOS.#and the sheer intensity of rage from kylo ren#unlike many of my fellow tumblr girlies (please don't burn me at the stake for this) i don't find adam driver very attractive and am a bit#puzzled as to what makes people like him So Much (mentally i'm like ???? which is my reaction to timothee chalamet enthusiasm too)#but i can give him one thing. he's absolutely terrifying. the intensity and sheer out of control FORCE of his anger terrifies ME#probably on the same level as hayden's anakin does tbh#i jumped a little when he punched the elevator wall. that man has got Deep Seated Issues that he REALLY needs to work out at this point#there are also bits of this movie that REALLY confuzzle me#like leia's force hovering through space (????) and poe's anger/control/defiance (??????????)#and also LUKE GIVING UP????? i was like. well the video essay peeps on youtube were right about THIS bit being#the Worst Part Thus Far. a luke skywalker abandoning hope is a luke skywalker i'm struggling to recognize#anyhow more thoughts incoming...... class has started and media analysis brain is on#is it EVER OFF THOUGH LOL#tlj liveblog

I just came up with a hc that makes the sequel trilogy 200x funnier.
What if Rey and Finn are both students at Luke's academy and the whole sequel trilogy is just Rey, age 8, making up a crazy wild fantastic adventure story to tell to her bestie Finn, age 9, while they're being watched by Poe, age 12, (who is visiting the Jedi academy because his mom is friends with Leia) and Ben, age 11?
Hear me out.
ST!Rey is a desert orphan because lil Rey WAS a desert orphan before Luke found her. The reason Rey learns to be a Jedi so quickly in the ST is because lil Rey is telling a cool story about herself!
Finn is a stormtrooper, because once he met Captain Rex and thought he was really cool and he wants to have white armor too, so Rey makes him a Stormtrooper who turns good and rescues Poe.
Poe jumps in on Rey's story at the beginning to wax poetic about himself being the best pilot in the galaxy, and Rey tries to one-up him by making her story-self fly the Milennium Falcon through a star destroyer.
Ben keeps hijaking her story to try to kill off everyone so he can leave, so he's obviously the villain. Rey keeps trying to make him have a redemption arc to no avail. At the very end he just gives up, says "okay FINE i turn GOOD and help you save the day BUT THEN I DIE", and he leaves.
Luke is a grumpy island hermit in the ST because lil Rey is annoyed with him because he wouldn't teach her to try to float an X-wing (something totally out of her skill level) and so she's like "and then i went to the ISLAND and met LUKE and he wouldn't teach me AAAAANYTHING!"
Poe makes up the scene where Han gets stabbed because when Ben was 2 he accidentally stabbed his dad with a fork and Poe thinks it's hilarious to keep bringing it up.
Rose is a friend of theirs who visits for just long enough to get Rey to throw a gratuitous space-horse subplot into the plot of TLJ cause Rose is a space-horse-girl, but then she has to leave so Rey writes her out of the plot of TRoS.
Anything else that doesn't make sense about the ST is just because it's a story told by an 8 year old girl who's here for a good time and doesn't really care if it's realistic, because it's fun and that's more important.

Hi!! How are you??
Can I request a Ben Solo x reader.
Where Ben x reader are soulmates and also Rey’s older sister (telekinesis) (very powerful). They arrive at the resistance base and in the crowd Poe and Finn notices Ben they walk over and they make up and they all get ready to fit Palpatine. The reader is much more powerful and uses this to her advantage and releases a massive energy blast but Rey and Ben are protected with a shield around them and they notice the reader sway on the spot and Ben rushes over to her to try and steady her but she passes out into his arms and he carries her bridal style to the ship and gently places her down onto the bed and covers her up with a blanket.
(You can add the rest)
Thank u 😊
(Han/Leia and Luke are alive)
Wake Up
Tumblr media
Summary: You use the extent of your powers in the fight of your life, only for you to pass out afterwards. Warnings: none but let me know if i missed anything! Notes: thank u for ur request! i did change some things around and mainly focused on the end bit, but i hope you still enjoy!
When you little, you figured out on your own that you had the force. Naturally, you were curious and wanted to see what you could do. You pushed yourself to your limits many times, but you could sense when things were getting too much and you would stop yourself. You never let yourself go too far, you didn't know what would happen if you did.
You found out later in your life when you fought Palpatine alongside Rey and Ben. You saw Palpatine prepare his force lightning to shoot at the three of you after you three tried to get hits on him. You knew you had only seconds to react and you knew that you could redirect that energy for your advantage, so you did just that. Palpatine sent his lightning at the three of you and you used the force to redirect it back to him.
What you didn't account for was how much strength it would take for you to do so, but you held your ground until Palpatine stopped his attacks. You hoped he was being electrocuted by his own abilities, and you could sense his dark presence slipping away. You kept going and going until the lightning stopped and nothing was left of Palpatine.
A wave a tiredness hit you, then another. You felt yourself sway, but you could steady yourself. Ben and Rey were walking up behind you, and you turned to face them only for your vision to blur as you fell to the ground.
Ben was able to catch you before you hit the ground, cradling you in his arms and checking to make sure you were just passed out. He hooked an arm behind your back and under your knees, lifting you up and turning to Rey.
"We need to get to the Falcon," he said simply, earning a nod from Rey.
The two rushed you back to the Falcon. Rey went to the cockpit, getting the ship started and up in the air to return to the base. Ben brought you into the bunk area, gently laying you down. He pulled one of the worn blankets over you. He brushed any hair out of your face before taking your hand in his.
Your chest rose and fell steadily, but that didn't ease his worries. He brought your hand up to his lips, pressing a soft kiss to the back of it.
"Please...wake up," he whispered as the ship shot into hyperspace.
----
When you, Ben and Rey arrived on the base, Ben immediately took you to the med bay. They checked you out and determined that you just needed rest. Ben never left your side, not even while the rest of the Resistance celebrated their victory. He wanted you to wake up, he needed you to wake up.
He held your hand again as he sat at your bedside, waiting for your eyes to flutter open. Rey, Finn and Poe came by to check on you two, but their visit wasn't long. As the day dragged on with no sign of you waking up or Ben moving, Han and Leia stopped by to drop of some food and offer their son some company.
They stayed for a while and only left when it got dark. Ben dozed off every now and then throughout the night, not wanting to be asleep when you wake up. But night came and went, and there was no sign of you waking up.
It was a few hours after sunrise when Ben felt your hand squeeze his. You eyes slowly opened, adjusting to the light around you before looking over at Ben. You gave him a sleepy smile.
"Hi," you said softly, your voice a little rough from not being used.
"Hi," he replied, smiling back at you and laughing at your morning voice.
"What did I miss?" You asked, sitting up without letting his hand go.
"We won."
"Good, I didn't want this all to be for nothing," you joke, gesturing to yourself.
"Why did you pass out? The medics said you weren't hurt, but you were out for a while."
You sighed. "It takes a lot out of me to use the force, especially at that scale. I thought I had it but, uh, guess not."
"Well, I'm happy you're awake."
"I am, too. We have some celebrating to catch up on."

Rey's Character and the Likelihood of Ben Returning
Tumblr media
Ultimately, the likelihood of Ben Solo’s return (either via the World Between Worlds or some other alternative) will depend on which version of Rey DLF decides to go with. Because throughout the sequel trilogy, there are two distinct versions of her character—the one geared towards children, and the one geared towards adults. Let me explain.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since Star Wars is a universe and franchise that caters to both child and adult audiences, there are inevitably certain stories and characters that are geared towards specific age groups. Shows like Andor and Obi-Wan and movies like Revenge of the Sith and Solo are geared towards adults, whereas shows like Rebels and The Resistance, and movies like The Force Awakens and The Phantom Menace are geared towards the younger audience. (It’s worth noting that adults can enjoy this content as well and those shows and movies are amazing to watch even at my ripe age of 29). Additionally, there are characters that are, by nature, geared towards one of the two audiences. Characters like Chewbacca, Darth Maul, Grogu, Ashoka, Padme, Hux, Ezra Bridger, BB-8, Sabine, Finn, and Rose are characters that are more approachable to younger audiences—whether that be through their story arcs and settings, character arc relatabilities, easily defined moral compasses, and easy to understand motives and objectives. On the other hand, characters like Anakin, Poe, Leia, Han, Ben Solo, Cassian, Jyn, Bix Caleen, Mon Mothma, and Qi’ra are all characters who, by their relatability and the context and subject matter of their story arcs, tend to be geared towards older audiences.
Of course, there is a natural amount of crossover depending on which show or movie the character is in at the time, but generally you can see which characters are intended for a more mature audience and which were designed for a younger audience. And that’s not to say that children can’t relate to characters like Anakin or Jyn or that adults can’t relate to characters like Ashoka or Ezra. The distinction is simply that certain characters are going to be more easily digestible and easy to understand to a younger audience than others. For example, characters like Hux and Darth Maul are very clearly bad, while characters like Chewie and Grogu are very clearly good. However, adults can be given characters like Cassian Andor or Qi’ra who are more morally ambiguous and who make both good and bad choices and the older audiences have the cognitive ability and life experiences to understand the nuances.
When it comes to Rey, she has been in both these camps with the audience seeing two distinct versions of her character throughout her tenure. This isn’t the same sort of crossover we see with characters like Luke or Obi-Wan who can easily play in both fields, this is an instance where we’ve seen two distinct versions of her character.
Tumblr media
The first version is the child-friendly version of Rey. This is the Rey we see most frequently in JJ’s movies but it’s at its most apparent in Rise of Skywalker. It’s the Rey we see playing with BB-8 in the desert and sliding around on hills. The girl who misses her parents, who has to ask for permission to go on missions, and who has to borrow somebody else’s lightsaber because she’s too young to have her own. This is the version of Rey whose understanding of the Force is very black and white and whose temptation to the Darkside is very cut and dry without any ambiguity or nuance. This version of Rey mainly focuses on parental figures and her duty as a Jedi, and her own personal desires for connection or her struggles with temptations are often a watered down version of themselves.
Tumblr media
The second version is the more adult-centered version of Rey. This is the Rey we see in both the Last Jedi film and the novelizations of both TFA and TLJ. This is the Rey we see challenge the legacy of Luke Skywalker and question his actions, who makes her own decisions and isn’t afraid to stand up for her convictions. This is the Rey who has calm and rational, philosophical conversations with people who are older than her, and who are sometimes also her enemies. This is the Rey who struggles with the temptations of the Darkside in a more personal and nuanced way. This Rey has a more esoteric view on the force and what it means to be a Jedi. This version isn’t afraid to explore romance in her life and has grown beyond needing to find adoptive parents to take care of her. This version decides to take on Snoke by herself, gets her own lightsaber, and who doesn’t shy away from confessing her struggles with loneliness, desires, and identity. This version of Rey functions at a higher level as the subject matter regarding her identity, her philosophies about the force, and her relationship with Ben Solo are much more mature in nature.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One version of Rey is easy for children to grab hold of and digest, while the other is more complex and layered. One struggles with simple concepts like “Anger = Darkside,” and, “I need my parents to save me,” while the other struggles with concepts like, “What if the connection I’ve been searching for is found in my enemy, and my identity is not defined by my heritage,” and, “This person I once viewed as my hero has made mistakes and I need to make my own choices outside of him.” One version of Rey has ~platonic “thank you” kisses~, the other version has conversations about existentialism with a shirtless man and reaches across the galaxy so she can physically touch that same man. One version spends her time sledding and training on a child’s obstacle course, the other spends her time confronting her mentors about their actions and conversing with a man about loneliness over dim firelight.
One version is mature, the other is often infantilized.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In this new movie, the likelihood of Ben Solo returning will hinge on which version of Rey DLF decide to settle on. If she is to remain the child-friendly version, the likelihood of Ben Solo returning probably won’t happen. Because Ben Solo’s return would require a more mature and nuanced understanding of morals, forgiveness, redemption, and romance—all concepts that are better suited for an older audience—the story would also require the more mature version of Rey to coincide with that. Whereas keeping him out of the story would allow Rey to focus solely on more child-friendly tasks like training Jedi, being a good platonic friend, and being abundantly clear cut in her morals and perspectives—all concepts that can easily be watched and understood by younger audiences.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As to my personal guess as to which version DLF will go with – I think it depends on Adam Driver. If he wants to return to the franchise and play his character again, I could easily see them spinning this one movie off into multiples and doing a full trilogy focused on Ben and Rey creating a new Jedi Order, exploring the powers of the dyad and what it means, and bringing up the next generation of Jedi for future movies. This would be a good option for DLF to take advantage of as Ben Solo is a huge cash cow and (buckle up for this one) the child(ren) of Ben and Rey would make for great new characters to pass the baton to for the next big Star Wars trilogy.
However, if Adam doesn’t want to return, then I’d imagine this movie will be a one-off story that exists solely for Rey to act as an Obi-Wan/Luke figure and introduce a main Jedi character that we’ll see as the lead protagonist in the next big Star Wars trilogy. She’ll most likely have just the one movie where she sets up a new Jedi order, they’ll probably pair her up with Grogu or BB-8 to make her even more kid friendly, and we probably won’t even get as much as a Ben Solo name drop.
Tumblr media
Eventually they’ll want to pass the baton to the next generation, and it makes sense for Rey to be the one to do it. The only question will be if we first get to see Rey and Ben and their adventures, or if they’ll simply skip it in favor of a clean slate and this movie will just fulfill the need of introducing the next main protagonist. (Most likely one of her students.)
And as to the 15-year time jump, I don’t think it’s telling either way which option will happen. On the one hand, the age up could reinforce that more mature version of her character which would open the door to a Rey and Ben plus kids sort of story, but on the other hand it could just solidify Rey as only wanting to be a Jedi who has no interest in romance and is just focused on legacies and being *the Skywalker*.

Chapter Summary
General Leia Organa asks old ally Lando Calrissian to use his connections to help the Resistance...
Excerpt:
On the bridge of the Skywalker, Leia Organa looked out into the black expanse of space.
So much had gone wrong in so little time.
The message had dropped. They’d lost contact with Finn and Rose. Not to mention Poe, Chewie, and Rey. As she searched the Force for answers, she sensed overwhelming sadness and anger there.
Distantly, she heard Connix’s voice breaking through the fog. “General?”
“General?” came Connix’s voice again, Leia finally turning to face her. “We’ve been at the rendezvous for hours. I think this is all that’s coming.”
Leia’s shoulders slumped and she let out a heavy sigh.
A few freighters and a handful of glorified pirates, that’s all General Leia Organa could command from the galaxy these days.
In the dark days since Crait, they’d learned that the First Order had been pursuing their sympathizers, restricting and blockading communications, cutting off supply lines, capturing or even assassinating allies. In short, no one had answered the call from Crait because very few had even heard it.
Leia had spent the past almost two years reestablishing contact with old allies, calling in favors, recruiting everyone sympathetic to their cause. She sent two of her best on a suicide mission in the heart of enemy territory to put out a message through a peice of ancient hardware that they didn’t even know would still work on the off-chance that the galaxy would finally hear them.
And once again, her pleas fell on deaf ears. All these years, all this time. All for nothing.
Leia felt herself go back to that dark day on Crait. She’d thought the spark of hope had died. She remembered sitting down in the old rebel outpost, exhausted, out of options, while the First Order deployed a siege cannon that would make short work of the armored hangar doors. They were all going to die, and the Resistance with them.
And then her brother had appeared. Luke had distracted the First Order long enough for them all to escape, and their small remnant had survived to carry on the fight.
And carry on the fight she still would.
She turned to Connix, her mind made up. “Prepare an Imperial shuttle. I’ll need valid code clearance.”
“But we’re lightyears from—” Seeing the look on Leia’s face, Connix cut off abruptly. “Yes, General.”
Leia watched her scurry away, chuckling to herself. Well, at least she could still scare the young ones.
But her good humor was short-lived, Leia sighing a second later as she removed the General’s bars from her vest. Maybe Rose would want them. She collected them, after all. That is, if she was still alive.
Leia had a long cloak draped over the back of a chair for the excursion ahead.
She put it on and pulled the hood up over her hair, hiding her distinctive Alderaanean braids from view.
"Leia,” came a familiar voice, that was neither inside her head nor without. The voice belonging to the man who inspired the name of the ship she was standing in.
"I was just thinking about you." Leia responded, like it was just a part of an ongoing conversation. Which, she supposed, it was. It just so happened that one of the parties was dead.
"He's in pain," Luke Skywalker said, voice grave. He was always so damn grave these days. Sometimes she missed the optimistic farm boy he’d once been.
“I feel it, too," Leia replied. Her son was always in pain, and it tore her apart inside.
Suddenly, she felt her brother’s presence next to her, as real and vibrant as when he’d been alive. She turned to face his slightly glowing form.
“If he succeeds in bringing back the Sith, he’ll become more powerful than our father,” warned Luke.
“So will she,” countered Leia. "She's gotten so much stronger already."
Luke waved her off. “She feels too much. Love. Anger."
“Don’t we all?” Leia shot back, her temper flaring. "Even the high and mighty Luke Skywalker himself was not immune to the base emotions that afflict us mere mortals."
Luke gave her a pointed look. “This is why the Jedi live in isolation. The pain of loss only leads to the Dark Side."
“I’ve lost everything and everyone," Leia declared, stone-faced. "And I’d still choose to love.”
She looked at her brother, his familiar face. Let herself miss him for the first time in ages. It was dangerous territory. Her grief was deep and thick and tangled, honed over years and losses and all too easy to lose herself in if she let it.
But today wouldn’t be that day. There was a war to win and a galaxy to save, and she wouldn’t rest until she’d done every last thing in her power to bring about a victory.
Luke was watching her, a look of sadness on his face that mirrored her own. Twins.
“Trust her instincts,” implored Leia. “She may not follow the path of the Jedi, but this time, she’s our only hope.”

I've been thinking about Star Wars again, as you do, and something I find really funny is how just about every reason people have for hating Last Jedi is a reason why I like it actually.
'It's a character assassination of Luke!' He actually gets his character flaws focused on after the original trilogy treated him as pretty infallible and has to grow as a person. Plus his Force spirit fighting Kylo is still the most badass scene he's ever gotten to me.
'Snoke was pointless!' He was pointless in TFA, in this he actually served a point because Kylo betraying and killing him to take control of the First Order himself sets him apart from just being a Vader clone. Frankly Kylo works better as the main one in charge of the First Order anyway, Palpatine being so pointless in TROS kinda proved that.
'All that buildup of who Rey's parents could be didn't matter!' It did matter because it made her think she had to have more important roots than she did to be a 'proper' Jedi, and the point of the movie is that anyone can be a Jedi.
'They did Poe dirty!' Poe barely got a storyline in TFA, so in this we (and the Resistance) got to see his faults and he had to grow as a character and learn to work as part of a team.
'Finn didn't get anything good to do!' Finn and Rose's story builds up the universe and shows the corruption that keeps the First Order going, hammering it home more to Finn that he was right to leave it.
'Leia using the Force was dumb!' She's a Skywalker too, and besides she already used the Force to find and save Luke in Empire.
'It contradicts the previous movies!' It contradicts midichlorians, the mystery big bad who does nothing having to be the main villain, and the mystery boxes that JJ Abrams didn't have an answer for. That stuff deserves to get contradicted imho.
Maybe my brain's broken but I get to enjoy a movie and a lot of other people don't, so don't bother fixing it.

hi lumi! pls don't feel pressured to answer this but i'm currently reading Phasma by delilah dawson (i'm loving it so far) and i was wondering if you would know some nice sequels' books and comics to get into (preferably the ones that delve more into the first order but anything works tbh)? I know your thing is mostly the prequels (it's more my thing too tbh) but i was wondering if you could help me or perhaps if you would know someone who could help me with it?
Hi! I actually do have a handful of sequels-centric content that I've liked! When the expanded world of SW comics and novels was first getting started, there was a lot of focus on the sequels and a lot of it was genuinely delightful and to this day I still heartily recommend them! Phasma is one of them (I loved that that book was just so joyfully batshit in exactly the way a Star Wars book should be) and my recs for other stuff you'll hopefully enjoy are:
Captain Phasma by Kelly Thompson (comic) - Gorgeous art, a solid story, and even some Feelings if you've read the Phasma novel, because it features some flashbacks from there.
Poe Dameron by Charles Soule (comic) - In addition to being one of the best SW comic runs out there, it's also a great look at Poe's character, has gorgeous art, and is just a fantastic read all the way around, I would put it at the top of my recs list.
Aftermath, Aftermath: Life Debt, Aftermath: Empire's End by Chuck Wendig (book) - I always recommend that I think this series almost MUST be in audiobook form, that I could not get into it in novel form, but the audiobooks were such a fun adventure. This does the most establishing of the galaxy after the Empire falls, it gets into several of the characters that would go on to help form the First Order. It's mostly a set of new characters (that I grew to love) and the OT characters, but I think it helps set the world a lot, so if you don't mine the lack of ST characters, it does lead into ST worldbuilding.
Bloodline by Claudia Gray (book) - Is a Leia story and is mostly about why she stops being a Senator and founds the Resistance, but it helps tell the foundation of the New Republic (along with the Aftermath trilogy) and the rising of the First Order. It's still quoted a lot for some pretty iconic Leia moments, but I think if you're looking for ST worldbuilding (as opposed to sequels characters), it's good for that, too.
Star Wars Battlefront II (game) - The story of Battlefront II is focused on the OT characters, but I like recommending it because it does a lot of great work in connecting the OT to the ST, including moments of how the First Order came to be, and has some really great Luke characterization. You can look up a "movie" version on YouTube and watch it that way!
Spark of the Resistance by Justina Ireland (book) - I hesitate to recommend this one whole-heartedly if you're not already hip-deep in SW books, because it is very referential to other SW comics/books, but I genuinely enjoyed it as connective tissue between the ST movies where it showed all the characters coming together in this fight. It was cute and charming and had some delightful moments of the main cast!
Resistance Reborn by Rebecca Roanhorse (book) - Is much in the same vein as Spark of the Resistance, it does a lot of good connective work, is a charming read, and has good focus on the main ST characters!
Age of Resistance by Tom Taylor (comic) - This was a series of one-shots focused around several main characters and they're solid, fun highlights of the characters. I remember especially enjoying the Rey and Rose ones!
Star Wars Adventures by various authors (comic) - There are two volumes of this (they rebooted the title a couple of years ago) and basically any issue that has the sequels characters is a fun read. I mean, the whole entire series tends to be really great for any era, but the sequels ones are fun--including a darling one from the first volume with Poe and Rose interaction that has forever made me pine for more team-ups with those two.
Allegiance by Ethan Stacks (comic) - A mini-series set post-TLJ where they're trying to gather allies for the Resistance and has some lovely character moments, I especially remember feeling a lot for Leia in her scenes of trying to rally people to stand up against the First Order, now knowing it was her own son leading them.
Join the Resistance by Ben Acker and Ben Blacker (book) - This is a cautious rec because it's set during the time of the Resistance, but it doesn't really have a lot to do with them or even particularly strong worldbuilding, I just REALLY FELL IN LOVE WITH THOSE KIDS over the course of the series.
Star Wars: Resistance (TV series) - This show isn't for everyone, it's much more kid-friendly and the animation doesn't do it for everyone, but I adored the characters (especially Kaz, the main character) and their main antagonist is the building First Order, as well as occasional guest appearances by Phasma or Kylo Ren. It had a lot of heart, it was really charming, but it's a cautious rec despite that I loved it very much.
Hopefully, this should help you find some stuff to read!

On December 18, 2015 The Force Awakens was released, which was the first theatrical Star Wars film not to be based on a story by George Lucas. The events in the film took place 30 years after the events in Return of the Jedi. Between the gap, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) had started a new Jedi Accademy but then went into exile when he pushed Princess Leia's (Carrie Fisher) and Han Solo's (Harrison Ford) son Ben Solo/Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) to the Dark Side. Han Solo, unable to deal with the loss of his son, went back into space with Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew). Princess Leia kept herself busy with C-3PO (Anthony Daniels), Admiral Ackbar (Tim Rose & Erik Bauersfeld) Nien Nund (Mike Quinn) and the Rebellion fighting against the First Order, which was the replacement of the Empire and lead by the mysterious Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis). Besides Kylo Ren, Snoke was served by Emperial officers like General Hux (Domhnall Gleeson) and Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie). The instalment introduced new recurring characters such as desert orphan Rey (Daisy Ridley), rogue Imperial soldier Finn (John Boyega), X-Wing pilots Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and Snap Wexley (Greg Grunberg), rebel officer Lt Connix (Billie Lourd) and underworld contact Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong'o). There were also cameos by Max von Sydow, Simon Pegg, Warwick Davis, Harriet Walter, Thomas Brodie-Sangster and Daniel Craig. The action mainly took place at Jakku, Takodana, D'Qar, Hosnian, Star Killer Base, and Ach-To. Harrison Ford finally got his wish of Han Solo being killed off. The film was praised for returning to a dirty looking universe and use of practical effects, but criticized by the plot following too closely to Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope. ("Star Wars Episode VII The Force Awakens", Star Wars Film Event)

🔥 the sequels? Anything about them tbh, I just wanna hear your hot takes about them 😂
oh boy do I have Thoughts™. some of these are unpopular, some are popular, but I'm not here to discriminate
the entire thing should've had at least a rough plan before they even started to make tfa. the problems that the cursed movie and tros had were mainly caused by the fact that no one planned anything for shit beyond tfa
the problems the shitshow trilogy had reflect directly to the problems everything made after it has
ruin johnson is a hack writer and hack director who doesn't understand star wars for shit
I will never understand why they felt the needs to separate the original squad like that
if you're gonna write a sequel, don't just recycle what came before. I still love tfa but can agree it was too much of an anh rehash
speaking of recycling, don't recycle every single mistake made in the earlier installments jesus fuck
if they wanted rey to be a nobody then don't give her all those luke parallels!
lando was criminally underused
rose tico deserves better now and forever
kyle ron did not deserve any kind of redemption, especially not by hallucinating his father who he killed after his mother dies for him
speaking of, han and leia deserved a better child and I wish kaydel ko connix had been their canonical daughter
poe had a canonical backstory in the comics that could've easily been referenced with a line or two, why the fuck did they feel the need to retcon it???? and make it worse?????
finn's storyline in the cursed movie is just his storyline in tfa with some extra steps
rey's storyline in the cursed movie is just her storyline in tfa with some extra steps
finn should've lead a stormtrooper uprising
LET SKEEVY SHEEVY STAY DEAD AND KYLE BE THE MAIN VILLAIN JESUS FUCK
I love parallels and callbacks but they have to mean something. don't just slap them in and call it a day
if you're gonna boast about having a diverse™ cast then don't make the white male villain your main character and actually treat your characters of color well
lucasfilm didn't do shit to protect john boyega and kelly marie tran from bigoted harassment and I will forever hate them for it (I know daisy ridley and oscar isaac also got some but john and kelly were especially targeted throughout the run)
all the characters, even the villains who I hate, deserve a better story
send me a 🔥 for unpopular opinions (please give me a topic)

okay i finally finished the star wars sequel trilogy and here’s my opinion and thoughts on each of the movies that no one asked for but i want to share anyway 🤓🤓 spoilers below!
The Force Awakens:
Don’t have a strong opinion on this movie TBH, I think it’s the weakest of the three but it’s a good introduction movie.
Wasn’t expecting Han’s death…RIP TO A REAL ONE😭
Still don’t understand how Rey was able to beat a trained Kylo Ren in battle…she was too OP for the first movie.
Kylo’s back story isn’t convincing enough and I think he’s kind of lame, I don’t think they did him justice.
Transitioning between scenes is so reminiscent of the OG triology and I love it.
The Last Jedi:
THE BEST OUT OF THE THREE!! I really enjoyed this movie; especially all the different sub plots. I loved that we got to see more characters.
I AM A FINNPOE ENTHUSIAST
I AM NOT A REYLO ENTHUSIAST
I liked Rose’s character and her dynamic with Finn!! Kelly Marie Tran did not deserve all the hate she got ): Rose was awesome ):
The scene in Snoke’s throne, Kylo reminded me so much of Anakin in ROTS, from the hair to the expression on his face, I literally think he channeled Anakin’s energy into his performance (think of Anakin when he first pledged loyalty to Palpatine)
Kinda confused on the direction they went in with Luke. You mean to tell me Luke refused to kill Darth Vader because he believed there was light still in him, but couldn’t extend the same hope to Kylo? Idk, Luke’s main characteristic is that he’s the hopeful, optimistic hero and I feel like they completely scrapped that. ESPECIALLY BECAUSE THEY DONT EVEN DIRECTLY TELL YOU WHY KYLO HAD SO MUCH DARKNESS IN HIM, i blame the story tellers
Luke saying no one’s ever really gone…yeah I cried 😭
I knew Luke died from like years ago, but watching his force spirit in front of the two suns just reminded me of that iconic scene in ANH where he’s standing in front of the two Tatooine suns. Literally one of my favorite Star Wars scenes EVER 🥹
The Rise of Skywalker
I think my biggest gripe with this trilogy is that it completely ruins Anakin/Vader being the Chosen One. Like….George Lucas confirms he’s the Chose One and then we see in ROTJ that he helps brings balance to the force, thus completing the prophecy. BUT THEN PALPATINE DIDNT DIE AND HES BACK AND THAT MAKES THE PROPHECY COMPLETELY MOOT AND THATS AN INSULT TO MY POOKIE.
Didn’t expect Leia to die…I know Carrie died (RIP TO A REAL ONE) but I honestly didn’t know she was going to die in the movie and I kept on wondering how they were going to pull it off. And I’m just realizing they killed each of the OG trio 😭
We needed more Rose.
They built up Finn to be a love interest for Rey in the first movie then completely scrapped that idea for Reylo 😭
Not sure how I feel about Reylo. I was really hoping they wouldn’t kiss then BOOM they kissed. Idk I just don’t think the chemistry was there.
I still think they did Kylo’s character building dirty, but I did enjoy his redemption arc. RIP
The voices of all the Jedi guiding Rey, I CRIED OKAYYYYYY
FINNPOE SUPREMACY
I love FinnPoe, but also Finn and Poe separately. Oscar and John were amazing
Seeing all the Death Stars crash, the Ewoks looking up and cheering, the celebration scene 😭😭😭😭 I cried so much IDK it just reminded me so much of the the end of ROTJ and honestly I’m a huge sucker for a good winning final scene.
Overall, I enjoyed the trilogy more than I thought I would and while I do think it’s not PERFECT and I do think there’s a lot to fix, I do think a lot of SW fans are just salty and hated the idea of a more diverse, female led franchise. I would definitely watch again (:
Now I need to know what happens after lol

How would you fix the sequels?
The sequels? That's a bit difficult but I'll give it a go! Just know that I'm no script writer but this is what I would have done.
First things first, I would have had Rey unconnected from the main family. No skywalker connection, just like Anakin she came from the force. She is simply there. Poe is still an ex-stormtrooper but he is force sensitive and will become a full-fledged Jedi. Poe is about the same. Kylo Ren would not have removed his helmet until the last movie, the first movie would make him monstrous but the helmet would crack and on the final movie his face would be reviled. Ben Solo under stokes control. Stoke is a sith Lord, Palaptine guides him thought the force.
Rey is tinkering with r2 and R2 has ‘hickups’ showing memories to Rey from Anakin, Obi-wan, Qui-gon-jinn and Luke, Leia too. This is how Rey learns who Ben Solo is, maybe a big fight with Han. Teen drama, stuff. Rey learns from the best Jedi masters because of R2’s hickups. Rey and Fin train together with the videos R2 shows.
3cpo doesn't know sith language…why would he? 3cpo is the one who has the map to find Luke.
Rey having a dyad with Ren is pretty cool, Rey having nightmares of this monster begging to be freed.
The stupid ass sith dagger, it matches with the death star? No way. It matches with the mountain leading to a cave.
The rebels slowly being attached? Let's go with they are on Hoft and the first order is slowly finding the routes strangling the rebels supplies stream. Giving enough time for Poe and Rose to get help.
Hux is the surprise big bad, Rey and Kylo kill stoke like in the movie. The sound of slow clapping is heard the two force users turn around to see Armitage Hux walking into the throne room. “My my, you took out my puppet…maybe you both are worth something.” pushes the puppet out of the throne and sits down. “But I doubt you can handle a real sith.”
Sith Hux reveals himself to be the new Emperor of the Galactic empire, lightings both Rey and Ben but they both escape in a pod thanks to Fin.
That's all I really have at the moment, I liked the sequels but man so much lost potential! Let me know what you think!

1. THINGS THAT WERE BEAUTIFUL AND GOOD:
STUNNING cinematography. The red on white in the battle scene was quite striking.
I thought Finn and Rose being arrested for parking violations was the funniest part of the story
Rey finally gets told to her face that she IS projecting her desire for family on older mentor figures. Will the story do anything with this? Probably not, but it was good for her to have that revelation.
the fact that “Let the past die. Kill it if you have to” (Kylo's line) is deconstructed and proven wrong again and again. The past is not dead and he is unable to kill it--much to his own chagrin. (Figurative and literal.)
the stable boys and stable girls on the casino planet. Especially the scene at the end where the Force-sensitive little boy looks to the stars and holds his broom like a lightsaber. THAT scene was one of the few that really felt like it belonged to Star Wars.
BB8 is always a delight
“The greatest teacher, failure is”
the parts that are actually FUN. Like Yoda giggling and swinging his legs. Like the jail guy (well, at the beginning, anyhow).
Leia is a sort of mother and mentor figure to Rey and Poe, which was really heartwarming to me
Luke kissing Leia on her forehead; Leia’s first words to Luke since her son went bonkers being, “I know what you’re going to say. I changed my hair” and Luke saying that it looked nice this way (these were very sweet scenes and there should've been more Skywalker sibling moments)
2. THINGS THAT WERE UNNECESSARY AND ANNOYING:
too much CG, not enough practical effects
(licks finger) "it's SALT!"
Luke Skywalker's character and everything the plot did with it
the flatness of the characters I thought would be central to the story, namely Finn and Poe
the script. The SCRIPT. The actors carry it. They're such good actors (Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, and Domnhall Gleeson in particular stood out to me here) but they're given so little to work with, which felt like such a waste.
some incredibly bizarre lines that took me straight out of the story (such as Rose's line about the 'lousy beautiful town'
the costume and hair design. Holdo and Rey in particular were quite bizarre to me, as was most of the hair decisions for Rose. I will say prop design was very well done at certain points, though
this is a movie that a lot of children went to see. On account of Star Wars being a franchise that is partially targeted towards a certain audience, who are the main consumers behind SW merchandise and toys, etc. etc. I think this is plenty reason for there NOT to be profanity.
this is also personal preference but I think that shirtless scenes should be killed with fire
Rey is presented in certain scenes as stronger and more impressive than Luke and always surprises him or has the upper hand. This is irritating and does not endear her to the audience in any way. This felt like a different application of killing the past, which I thought was poorly done and a bit disrespectful.
the Finn/Rose romance, which is so uneven and badly delivered. It could've been developed in a believable and organic way. Or they could've kept them as good friends (as Finn grows to appreciate Rose's bravery and gentleness, and Rose starts to see Finn as a human rather than a hero). But this weird middle ground didn't really accomplish anything.
Did I like this movie? Not by a long shot. I was so fed up by the end that I was ready to give up on Star Wars entirely. The last time I felt that level of Kylo Ren-esque rage was after I watched Multiverse of Madness.
But did it make me think? Yes, quite a bit. Mostly about what I didn't like about this movie, but also about what DOES constitute a good, beautiful, meaningful story.

Star Wars Movie Pride Headcanons
Obviously I can't do all the characters in Star Wars (movies or otherwise) so today I'll start with just the movie characters I find important or just fun!
Of course, these are just my opinions and it's totally cool if you have different ideas. Art is subjective and there are plenty of ways to engage with said art. This is just for my personal fun.
Luke Skywalker (he/him): Bisexual
I know people like Gay!Luke and that's totally fine, but... I just think of Legends!Luke and his wonderful wife Mara Jade, and I think Luke Skywalker is a man who can appreciate both Mara Jade and Ezra Bridger! Would be open to polyamory if it was like a throuple situation and everybody loved everybody.
Leia Organa (she/her): Bisexual
Now, I know the Leia book says she only likes humanoid males, but as someone who had a crush on both twins growing up, this headcanon is for me personally.
Han Solo (he/him): Bisexual
Okay, so most of these are going to be bisexual because I'm a stupid bisexual and I said so. Han Solo would flirt with anyone in the galaxy, including but not limited to Qi'ra, Lando Calrissian, Leia Organa, and Luke Skywalker.
Chewbacca (he/him): Ally (?)
Idk, tbh. He's got a wife and kid, and I think he thinks gay people are neat.
C-3PO and R2D2: Queer-platonic
They're droids and even though I do think droids can develop attraction like bio-species, I don't think these droids feel any attraction. Doesn't mean they don't have chemistry with each other though.
Lando Calrissian (he/they): Pansexual
He fucks. Everybody. I think Lando would be hand-wavy about gender. Most people use he/him with Lando, but they also enjoy they/them pronouns. Totally chill with polyamory.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (he/him): Graysexual
I really don't think this man knew he could have attraction until he met Satine Kryze. He just didn't think about it. It's not important. He probably scoffed at people who had issues following the Jedi Code. "What, like it's hard??"
Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader (he/him): Hetero-flexible
My man loves his wife (to quite an extreme degree actually). He's pretty sure he's straight? He's never thought of anybody but Padmé so it's not like he's really explored more. He wouldn't be opposed to dating men or other genders, though.
Wilhuff Tarkin (he/him): mlm
The only reason I'm including him on my list is because it's actually canon. He likes men. That's all I know on that front. I just had to include it because I was flabbergasted.
Yoda (he/him): Aro/Ace
All Yoda knows is talk funny, eat hot chip, and lie. (but actually he's a very wise master and mentor who loves his students and loves pulling a prank or two).
Padmé Naberrie/Amidala (she/her): Ally
Padmé loves her friends and family. She'd defend them with her life. I don't think homophobia exists in most areas of the SW universe, but if there was ever a time her friends felt marginalized, she'd be there to defend them. Whether that required just a simple talk, all the way to "aggressive negotiations."
Qui-Gon Jinn (he/him): Asexual
He feels like he could like somebody in a romantic sense. I don't think he'd hold on too heavily to the Jedi Code either. He just doesn't have the time. He's also never really wanted the sexual aspects of a relationship. I bet he gave all his Padawans "the talk" though.
Mace Windu(he/him): Aro/Ace
...and judgmental about it. Very sex-repulsed. He's not homophobic. He hates all PDA equally. Don't kiss in front of him. He will gag.
Rey (she/her): Pansexual
She just has a whole lotta love to give. :)
Finn (he/him): Bisexual
Rey's really hot. Poe's really hot. Why is everyone so hot???
Poe Dameron (he/him): Gay
Gay. Gay. Homosexual. Gay. (This is for Oscar Isaac. Luv u bby 😘) Poe looked at Finn like he was the first drop of water in the desert. And I think that's beautiful.
Rose Tico (she/her): Queer. Non-Binary.
Rose knows who she likes. She doesn't need a label to save what she loves. I think she still likes she/her pronouns, but doesn't necessarily like the label "woman."
That's the list! I'll be doing more Star Wars queer headcanons for people outside of the movies too! So be looking out for that, if you've read this far! Let me know if I've missed someone important from the movies and I'll add it later!
