Unnatural (v1-Prologue)
(Chapter List)
MATURE CONTENT WARNING : This story deals with some disturbing themes. Check the tags. IF any of these are triggers for you or will disturb you... then DO NOT READ!!
“Sam have you seen Saph… WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING!?!?!”
Jasmine Arc leapt across the room, latching onto her soon-to-be former husband. With two handfuls of his hair, she ripped him out of their marital bed, and smashed his face into the floor. He grabbed at her hands as she yanked and tore, smashing his face into the floor as hard as her small frame could muster.
All the while she spit vitriol at him, cursing, screaming obscenities. Samuel had no defense against his wife’s absolute rage. She was in a frenzy, and all his struggles did was enrage her even further. Ripping her hands and several tufts of his hair from his scalp, he tried to scuttle like a cockroach towards the potential safety of the ensuite bathroom. He didn’t even make it two inches.
Jasmine latched on to him, her nails digging deep gouges in any flesh she could grab hold off, so he instead tried to fight back. Rolling on to his back, he attempted to kick Jasmine away, by the murderous woman was not to be denied. She took the kick and fell upon him. Straddling his naked chest and dropping hammer like blows to his face and head. What she lacked in precision, she made up for, with pure rage fueled quantity. Samuel tried in vain to cover up.
“Jas what…” her older brother started to yell, drawn from his nap in the living room by the screams, curses, bangs and thumps. It took him less than a second to figure out what had happened and was currently happening.
“Jas! Jas! Enough! He’s not worth it!” Jonathan Arc yelled as he hauled his rabid sister off the panting nude form of her husband.
“You fucking fucker! I’m going to fucking gut you, you sick bastard!” Jasmine flailed, foamed and cursed, her spit spraying Samuel as Jonathon hauled her off. “I’m going to kill you! You fucking fuck! I’ll cut your fucking balls off and shove them up your ass, while I skull fuck you with a fucking hammer!”
“Jas! Jas!” Jonathon yelled into his sister’s ear. “Enough!”
“He has to fucking die! I’m going fucking kill the fucking piece of shit!”
“Saph needs you!” Jonathan screamed at her, instantly getting the reaction he wanted, and the separation he needed between her and Samuel.
“Saphron!” Jasmine wailed as Jonathon released his hold on her. The barely over five foot woman, bolted top the side of the bed and in an instant had the crying, terrified girl bundled up and was carrying her out of the room.
“Than…” Samuel didn’t get to finish the single word, as Jonathon’s foot crashed into his exposed gut, causing him to spew bile all over the floor.
“Big man… real big man…” Jonathan snarled, as he stalked around the nude and cowering form. Reaching his feet, Jonathan leaned down and grabbed Samuel by the ankle. With ease, he pulled and yanked, making Samuel roll on to his back and exposing himself full.
“I’m sorry! Please I’ll leave… I won’t…” Samuel howled in agony, as Jonathon stomped his full weight down on his genitals, before the pain caused him to black out.
“You’re not sorry… not yet.” Jonathan growled as he stomped out of the master bedroom, downstairs and out to his car. Yanking open the door, he grabbed the CB. “Dispatch this is Arc… I need back up and Jasmine’s place… we have… we have…”
“Arc this is dispatch… what’s going on? Over.”
“This is car, 12… we’ll be there in three… are you okay? Over.”
“No… get your asses over here … and dispatch send medical… Over.”
Jonathon tossed the mic back onto the seat, before popping the trunk of his vehicle. Walking to the rear of his car, he opened the trunk and reached inside. Punching in a pin, he unlocked the weapons locker inside. He rummaged for a few seconds, locating two sets of cuffs, that he shoved into his pocket, before he pulled out a shot pump action shotgun. Working the pump, he racked the breech open.
“Better get here soon, guys, or this will get even messier.”

The Spellthief and the Pale Elf: A Fated Encounter.
Tumblr media
Words: 3415| Rated: Teen | Tiefling!Female Original Character x Astarion
Synopsis: Saphyra Zarashi, a young Tiefling sorceress, has found herself in quite an unsightly predicament. Abductions conducted by mind flayers were fabled or derived from conspiracy, not something that actually happened to people. Saphyra never imagined that she would be someone who was taken aboard an Illithid vessel, let alone live to tell the tale. Surviving the wreck was her main priority, but she did not anticipate finding other survivors who hosted the same parasite as she did. Upon looking for the young Githyanki she encountered on the ship, she instead finds a deceitful, and rather wolfish pale-elf.
Warnings: Act I! Swearing, mentions of blood
A/N: So lately, I have been obsessing over my character. Actually typing some of the ideas that have been plaguing my mind as of late is definitely a release. I normally shy away from writing original character works, because I know that I am someone who personally prefers insert fics, but if anything, this is more so just a release for all of the bg3 content I have swarming in my head at all times. If anyone actually does end up reading this, I hope you enjoy it! I always try to characterize Astarion to the best of my ability. I hope you all enjoy my baby Saph as well.
You may also see this on Ao3!!!
(also p.s: I know the institution I mentioned is not real DnD lore!! I had to get creative c:)
- - -
Staring into a puddle of water dimpled into a rubbled path, Saphyra studies her reflection while crouching towards the ground. Her eyes peruse her features, such as her upright, twisted horns, her kinky, indigo tresses fashioned into a faux-hawk style, and her mismatched pupils of magenta and teal, which were submersed in black sclera. All are features of which she more so recently began to appreciate. All that currently risked extinction, only to be replaced with hideous tentacles and pasty purple skin. Saphyra frowns and shudders at the thought. Closing her eyes with a deep sigh, she began to process the events that had occurred up until this point.
To think it was only the night or so before when she donned her old apprentice uniform, to sneak back into her former arcane institution. Ambrose Academy of Arcane Arts appeared to be the same as it was all the years ago. The antiquated tower was still nestled within the tall, overbearing trees of the Misty Forest, outside of Baldur’s Gate. The tower was covered in thick, coarse rose vines that dispersed into ample gardens of wildly growing flowers. Disguising herself as a student, Saphyra attempted to creep into the old, foreboding building where she spent half of her formative years. It was well into the early hours of the morning when the sky still housed a sea of stars and a bright, full moon. Taking hushed steps as she reared the back entrance, Saphyra approached a locked cellar door that she had every intention of picking. Upon pulling out her thieves’ tools, Saphyra began to take note of the growing gusts of wind that appeared to pick up every moment. Raising her head in curiosity, Saphyra’s eyes widened at what appeared to be some strange, foreign vessel approaching the tower. Trying not to completely panic, the tiefling quickly began to gather her belongings before attempting to flee the area. However, she wasn’t as quick as she hoped, being that she couldn’t escape the long, projecting organism that began to hone in on her location. Trying to hasten her steps, Saphyra tried to run as fast as she could before the Illithid vessel’s tentacle abruptly transported her inside-
“Um, Saphyra, is it?-” a voice interrupted her thoughts, grounding her in reality once again. It seemed to belong to the rather talkative wizard she had more recently acquainted herself with.
“I’d hate to disturb you, although, your cleric-friend here recently pointed out that she thinks she hears someone calling for help in the distance. Perhaps it could be the Githyanki warrior you both mentioned earlier?” Gale postulated as his eyes shifted back towards Shadowheart, who appeared to be some space ahead of them, peering through the wreckage of the Mindflayer ship.
Saphyra let out another sigh as she rose to her feet, trying to let go of any lingering thoughts about her journey up until now.
“I apologize...” she eventually responds, as the two begin to walk together to catch up with Shadowheart.
“...I just keep thinking about how I got myself into this mess.” she continues her thought, prompting a rather sympathetic look from one of her new companions.
“Ah, yes. I must say I have been trying not to do the same.” Gale replies with a soft, yet weary smile.
As the two approach the half-elf cleric, Shadowheart turns to meet the two with a rather serious expression.
“While I can’t say I’m particularly fond of trying to find the Gith from earlier…” her voice begins to trail as she turns to look towards the ship’s wreckage.
“I hear someone calling out for assistance. I believe it’s coming from the other side. Perhaps it could be her.” Shadowheart explains as she begins to walk through the debris of the ship.
The two decide to follow her, navigating through broken ship fixtures, viscera, and slain bodies that most likely perished from the crash. The group slowly began to approach the other side of the ship, leading up to a path that overlooks the water and marshlands. As they approach, the calls for help become clearer and clearer, however, they did not seem to belong to who the group originally imagined. Saphyra decides to position herself closer to the front, shooting a look back towards her companions as if to nonverbally convey caution. As she decides to approach the figure ahead, the tiefling raises a brow as she begins to realize the cries belong to some noble high elf. Saphyra glances the pale elf over, taking note of his rather regal attire, white curls, and piercing, crimson eyes. Her eyes also glance over what appears to be the pommel of a dagger, ever-so-slightly protruding from underneath the side of his doublet.
“Hurry- I’ve got one of those brain things cornered.” the noble elf explains before quickly looking back at Saphyra with pleading eyes.
“There!- In the grass…You can kill it, can’t you?- Like how you killed the others?” he inquires, gesturing out to the marshlands below, only to be met with Saphyra’s rather unamused expression.
“Kill it yourself.” Saphyra replies, prompting surprised expressions to surface on the faces of her traveling companions. Gale even begins to open his mouth, to protest against her decision.
“You seem more than capable.” she continues as she begins to walk away. Over the years, she’s grown accustomed to ploys fashioned to trap the unassuming or naive. In fact, she’s used them in the past herself.
“Wait-Saphyra!” Gale calls out, attempting to reason with the sorceress, as he attempts to catch up with her quick pace.
“I was hoping for a kindred soul…” the pale elf mutters to himself, before reaching for the dagger attached to his hip.
“Well, not to worry-” he states, before taking swift, quiet steps behind the tall tiefling. Readying his knife, he abruptly pulls her to the ground with a thud, causing Saphyra to cry out in surprise. The pale elf raises the dagger to her neck while using the weight of his lower body to keep Saphyra pinned to the ground. Saphyra grimaces as she attempts to hold the blade back with her hand, causing the sharp edge to break her dark, bluish-violet skin. Saphyra fails all attempts to force the elf off of her, all the while, her companions attempt to get closer, in an effort to separate the two.
“Stand back!” he calls out to Gale and Shadowheart, who both seemed to wear worried expressions as they watched the pale elf hold a blade to their friend’s throat. Lowering his crimson eyes to meet Saphyra’s, a mocking smirk surfaces on his face.
“And you…don’t even think about trying anything intrepid, or I’ll cut into that pretty little neck of yours…” his voice trails before he catches a whiff of the blood that has begun to trail down her hand, where Saphyra holds the blade.
Noticing that his attention has wavered, Saphyra slowly winds back her head before abruptly making an impact with the elf’s, horns and all, causing him to fall back. Clutching his forehead, blood begins to trickle through his fingers, likely due to the small gash one of her horns brought about upon making contact with his skin. Scrambling to take the dagger in his hands once more, the elf rises to his feet.
“Shit!- You wretched little-” he pauses as he winces in pain from both the gash, and the sudden neural connection he makes with the tadpole that Saphyra carries.
Saphyra’s eyes clench shut as she begins to envision a myriad of images, such as the bustling streets of Baldur’s Gate at night as if she were recounting her very own memories. As she attempts to prod for more information, the connection severs, leaving the two staring into each other’s eyes with bemused expressions.
“What’s going on…what was that?” he asks, a tone laced with fear.
Saphyra continues to stare before finding her words once more.
“You have one too…one of the Mindflayer worms in your skull,” she states, referencing back to the same phenomenon she shared with Gale.
“The…the worm…that explains things…” he ponders a bit before his eyes shift to meet hers once more.
“And to think…I was ready to decorate the ground with your innards. Apologies.” he says with a sheepish smile, prompting Saphyra to let down her guarded demeanor slowly.
Wiping the blood from her hand onto her robe, she notices how his eyes seem to follow her movement, taking into account how much blood she’s lost from her wound. Her curiosity stirs, as she begins to ponder on why his general appearance seems so odd to her. Red eyes, antiquated clothing…and, did she really see fangs?
Hosting a somewhat bewildered expression on her face, Saphyra eventually states, “It’s fine. As long as we’re past you attempting to slit my throat with a dagger, I suppose we’re both on similar pages.”
The elf stifles a small laugh at her comment, before remembering he had yet to introduce himself.
“My name’s Astarion. I was in Baldur’s Gate when those…vile creatures snatched me,” he states, waiting for her to return his introduction.
Saphyra blinks at the mention of the Gate. Perhaps Illithid abductions weren’t as rare as she thought.
“Saphyra.” she says curtly, before realizing how short she’s being. “Funny…I’m actually from Baldur’s Gate as well.” she continues, prompting a rather surprised reaction to surface on Astarion’s face.
“Saphyra,” he repeats in a dulcet tone before his eyes glance over her. He took into account her rather rugged appearance, such as her collection of piercings and the myriad of scars she seemed to collect on her face. The one that spanned across her right eye, into her cheek, was one that specifically caught his eyes. Despite having such a rough, projected exterior, she had rather soft features. Full, dark lips that seemed to pair nicely with her dark, mismatched doe-eyes.
Acting as if he were trying to match her name to someone he may have encountered in the city, he feigns interest, before looking down at his nails.
“We clearly move in different circles.” he says eventually, causing Saphyra’s eyes to narrow.
“So,” he breaks the brief silence, before continuing on. “Tell me what you know about these… ‘worms’.”
Saphyra folds her arms, before responding, “Only that they will eventually turn us into mind-flayers.”
“Mindflayers?-” he inquires, before bursting out into a sudden laugh, that seems to be laced with anxiousness. “Of course, it will turn me into a monster...” he mutters to himself, as his eyes drift away from hers as if he was beginning to mentally reassess. Gaining a certain thought, causes his eyes to meet Saphyra’s once more.
“Although, it hasn’t happened yet. If we can potentially find an expert- someone who knows how to control these things, then perhaps, there may still be time,” he states.
Saphyra immediately took note of his use of the word ‘we’, causing her to consider the notion of teaming up with the pale elf. She absolutely did not trust him, and as she can imagine, the feeling is most likely mutual. However, she had a working theory about the roguish elf, and if it turned out to be true, he could be a rather formidable ally. Breaking out of her rather contemplative trance, she raises her eyes to him once more before offering a response.
“I couldn’t agree more. Perhaps you should join us…our odds will be better together,” she suggests, causing her companions to generate appalled reactions.
“Are you mad?” Gale asks, as his concern grows. “He practically had a knife pressed against your neck only moments ago!” he adds, as Shadowheart nods in agreement.
“I can’t help but acknowledge how rash of a decision this is,” she comments, looking down towards Saphyra’s hand, which seemed to have recently started bleeding once more.
“I understand the caution, but considering that there seems to be only three of us that seemed to survive this whole crash, well…perhaps there’s strength in numbers.” the tiefling suggests. Taking inventory of dusk approaching, Saphyra turns her gaze once again back to the group.
“And perhaps we should set up camp for the evening as well,” she suggests once more, before starting to walk towards a nearby clearing further along the beach. ahead of the group.
With some initial reluctance, the three all decide to follow.
- - -
Astarion couldn’t help but think about the encounter he shared earlier with Saphyra. He can recall watching her sweet-scented blood run down her fingers, as well as her knowing eyes, which seemed to recognize his bloodlust. She must have some idea about his condition…
Perhaps she was sent by Him to enact retrieving the lost spawn. Besides, he realized that his unsightly freedom, along with his newly acquired abilities, were too good to be true.
Breathing a deep sigh, the vampire spawn rose to his feet from his seated position at his tent, as he began to walk towards where the tiefling woman was. This seemed to catch the attention of the half-elf cleric, and wizard who seemed to be gathering wood together, in order for them to begin the process of making dinner. As he approached the mulberry-tinted tent, a brow raised in curiosity once he realized the flap to the entrance was slightly open, revealing a small glow coming from inside. Astarion decided to push the flap back slightly and was rather surprised to uncover the tiefling woman inside, sitting on a moss-covered stone, as she scratched away with a piece of graphite on parchment.
His eyes scanned the entire space, taking into account the various trinkets scattered around, all different from the rest. Old, leather-bound books were stacked up in the corners of the tent, along with various scrolls, most likely spells. She had crystal ores postured on top of a dark, leather-bound chest. Amongst the crystals were small jars, that contained recently lit incense and strange liquids, that he assumed could only be poultices and potions. He recognized burlap sacks, that seemed to be stuffed with goods, that seemed to be recently looted. Astarion also noticed a tall, wooden quarterstaff, cut from deep, dark bark. It was adorned with a mix of different skulls, feathers, and shining beads while possessing an alarming, stake-like structure towards the bottom of the staff. Besides the quarterstaff was an ornate, wine-toned cloak that was draped over a crate. However, what seemed the most curious, were some of the parchment images scattered amongst the ground. The subject matter varied, from maps to faces, to images of scenery that he seemed to recognize. He couldn’t help but slowly realize that they were images around Baldur’s Gate, such as the Elfsong Tavern, and the Wide. Most importantly, he couldn’t help but realize how uninterested the tiefling was in his presence, as she continued to scratch away at the paper she had placed over a plank of wood. It seemed as though she was attempting to sketch a map underneath the warm light that was generated by a small lantern placed by her side. He also took notice of the fact that she seemed to have discarded the apprentice robe donned earlier. In its place was an outfit of dark leathers, paired with an onyx-toned corset that covered a sleeved-white blouse.
Not particularly fond of being disregarded, Astarion folded his arms, waiting for the sorceress to grant him some semblance of attention.
While not glancing up from what she was doing, Saphyra eventually spoke.
“Do you need something?” she asked plainly, prompting a rather annoyed expression to surface on Astarion’s face. However, he instead decides to play into pleasantries, masking his growing irritation.
“Well, yes. I wanted to apologize for my…uncouth introduction earlier…among other things…” he explains, while once again looking over his nails.
A rather confused smile begins to form on Saphyra’s face, as she raises a brow.
“Apologize?” she questions, before continuing her thought. “I definitely did not anticipate that,” she says, before placing her unfinished map down on the surface beside her. Disregarding her snarky comment, Astarion decides instead to gather more information on what brought her onto the Illithid ship.
“You said that you were from Baldur’s Gate, correct? What did you do in the city?” he asks plainly, hoping that she would give him something to confirm his suspicions.
Already having her own suspicions, Saphyra still decided to answer, but rather vaguely.
“I’m a sorceress. I mostly work for hire…to kill,” she states with a deadpan expression, before continuing her thought.
“However, I also steal things, which is what I was doing before I got kidnapped and probed by tentacled freaks,” she says in a tone, laced with annoyance. If anything, she was still very sore over her plan being foiled by something so bizarre.
“How about you?” she inquires.
Shifting his posture, Astarion responds, “I was a magistrate in the city.”
Saphyra blinks, as a smile begins to grow on her face. It definitely explained the pale elf’s intricate attire, yet not his skill with maneuvering a blade. However, it was rather amusing that she was standing in the presence of a magistrate from the Gate.
“A magistrate,” she repeats once more, before snickering a bit to herself. “Well, I suppose it’s a good thing that we hadn’t crossed paths before now,” she says, before catching a glimpse of the red tint on the bandage she had wrapped around her hand. Shadowheart had worked rather efficiently earlier on to stop the bleeding from the cut Saphyra had sustained, and it seemed to have finally ceased and dried onto the bandage. As she lifts her eyes once more, she suddenly realizes that Astarion’s gaze is fixated on her hand as well. Saphyra briefly recalls earlier once more, and suddenly remembers that he was previously injured also, yet bore no sign of any injury after the fact. Saphyra’s previous suspicion began to resurface once more.
“It’s interesting…” she begins her thought, causing Astarion’s gaze to meet hers once more, followed by his hum of curiosity.
“You don’t seem to have that gash anymore,” she states, watching to see if his guise falters, or if she can catch him out on a lie.
“Oh-Well, the cut wasn’t that deep. There was a lot of blood, however, it was merely a cut,” he explains her suggestion away, and yet, Saphyra only grew more and more suspicious of him.
“Speaking of blood,” she begins, “I wanted to ask you something. You seemed very… skittish when I started bleeding earlier. Do you have some sort of aversion to blood?” she inquires.
Astarion scoffs, before rolling his eyes. “Well, I just told you. I was a magistrate in the city. I’ve never really done something like that with a dagger before…nor have I ever ‘slummed it’ with a group of people in a camp.” he elaborates, as his eyes scanned Saphyra’s tent once more.
Saphyra, slowly growing more frustrated at his attempts to avoid her inquiries, begins to comment once more before her thoughts are interrupted by Gale’s voice calling out.
“Saphyra!- We’ve finally got the fire going. If you’re not currently occupied, could you please bring over the sack with all of the food?” he calls out to her from the center of the camp, where he and Shadowheart stood, somewhat winded after gathering and cutting wood.
“That sounds urgent.” Astarion adds, with a teasing smirk.
Saphyra sighs, rolling her eyes, and she lifts herself from her seat. As she goes to gather the sack before leaving her tent, Astarion pipes up once more, recalling another reason why he decided to pay the tiefling an impromptu visit.
“Ah, I almost forgot one thing,” he suggests, before reaching into the breast of his doublet and retrieving a small, black-velour pouch that seemingly resembled Saphyra’s coin purse.
Saphyra’s eyes widen once she turns to view what he retrieved, prompting her to pat her waist, where the pouch was once suspended to her trousers, underneath the apprentice robe.
“You seemed to have dropped this earlier…I only wished to return it to you.” Astarion states, with a deceiving smile.
He was toying with her.
Narrowing her eyes, Saphyra snatches the coin purse from his hands, before the pale elf slowly retreats to his tent. The two were both entirely aware that they shared deliberate falsehoods pertaining to their identities.
And both were determined to seek out the truth.

Note
would you mind doing a little scene maybe of caduceusxreader or maybe calebxreader where their s/o ends up hit with pollen during battle that gets them super high alla knott and the floor fruit style please?
Little turned into a bit more of a scenes instead 😅. A little disclaimer; I do not condone the abuse of substances especially not illegal ones. Listen to your auntie Saph, kids! Stay in school and be responsible! 😘
Content Warning: Use of mind altering substances.
It’s the middle of a fight in the jungle. You’re under attack by a large lizard walking on its hind legs, with some rather useless short arms but huge sharp teeth that have munched on Fjord one too many times leaving the half-orc in a bleeding and moody state without much of a chance to get out and not get hit again.
The battlefield is not in your favour considering this oversized lizard is about to turn your friend into its next meal but you still have a healing potion left and really, this is the time to use it but you can’t really get to Fjord without getting close to the lizard thing and even then you doubt you’d be able to get into arms reach of the man. Well it’s now or never and better than the alternative. You rush forward dodging below the toothy maw of the creature.
“Fjord! Catch!” With that you get as close as you can, tossing the healing potion. Fjord just barely catches it, thanking you but that quickly falls silent.
“Look out!” Caleb shouts as he releases a firebolt to strike the lizard. It does not stop the creature from swiping with its tail sending you flying with a brute force knocking the air out of you. Luckily your landing is softened by a comfy bed of flowers, moss and some mushrooms. You land a cloud of spores and pollen dusting around you and entering your lungs as the first breath you’re able to take. It leaves you coughing and sneezing but you shake it off. This is not the right time for allergies to be kicking in. You got a lizard to kill.
Together you fight off the lizard. Still taking quite some good hits you deliver some as well and in the end manage to kill the thing. Some of you worse for wear you unanimously decided taking a breather is probably a good idea. You find a comfy patch of moss that does not release a dust cloud the moment you touch it and let yourself fall into its soft embrace, eyes closed.
“I’m just going to lie down over here. Let me know when we’re moving again.” An odd sense of nausea kicks in so you turn to your side and just curl up in an attempt to get a little more comfortable on the jungle floor.
"Are you sure you're alright?" Caleb asks looking you over. Physically you're a bit worse for wear but not terribly so. A moment of rest should have you back on your feet. You phase out a bit letting yourself be dragged off in a moment of rest.
Not but five minutes later your moment of peace is disturbed by a warm, really warm but comfortable hand being placed on your arm and shaking you lightly. You curl up a little tighter before rolling on your back and meeting the bright blue eyes of Caleb. You don’t recall them being that bright, maybe more like a muted or pale blue but now they’re vibrant. Odd you hadn’t noticed before. Same goes for his hair, red is more fiery orange and you swear you can pick apart every single strand on his head as well as the light stubble he’s sporting.
"Hey." You smile at the wizard lovingly. You'll never tire of waking up to Caleb no matter of how much you might want to continue sleeping. Caleb's a handsome man but right now he looks absolutely angelic with the bleeding light creating a halo around him.
Maybe it’s just because of the faded green background behind Caleb that throws off the contrast? Besides, you might have fallen asleep in your five minutes of rest, your vision usually goes a bit blurry until things come into focus but that doesn’t really explain why Caleb is so high focus now… Odd but you dismiss it as exhaustion and the vast jungle getting to you. No, you definitely hit your head when that lizard tail swiped you. Maybe you have a concussion. Should ask the clerics to check that out later once they’ve gotten their rest. Now's not the time to bother them.
“Hey. Time to get up. We’re ready to move before nightfall comes around.” Ugh. Even his voice sounds angelic now? Caleb offers you a hand and helps you up from the comforts of your moss-bed. Somewhat reluctant you get up. The nausea gets worse and you put a hand over your mouth suppressing the urge to vomit.
“Are you alright?” Caleb stabilises you as you stumble a little, dizziness not making your nausea any better. Sweet gods those warm hands just make you want to curl up into their warmth forever but you repress the urge well aware Caleb isn’t exactly the fondest of pda and keep it more surface levels with the others around.
“Yeah. Totally fine just a bit ugh but I’ll be fine. Some more sleep will probably do me good.” You see the rest of the Nein is packed up and ready to continue. Weren’t they just unpacking when you closed your eyes five minutes ago? Okay so maybe those five minutes were closer to an hour or so? What kind of exhaustion fuelled time warp did you get stuck in? This exhaustion is really getting to you. You need a vacation; one with Caleb. Maybe with an ocean view? That sounds nice. You're getting side tracked. Time to travel.
------------
The journey continues deeper into the jungle towards your destination and your limbs get heavier and heavier. Did Jester paint you some lead shoes and replace yours while you were asleep? Did she do your clothes too? Because your whole body feels so heavy.
You bump into Caleb’s side. A hand finds its way to the small of your back and the warmth returns. You didn’t realise you’re feeling so cold, freezing almost so you allow yourself to lean just a bit more into Caleb’s side to bask in the warmth provided by your flaming hot wizard.
“You don’t happen to be able to make someone do the floaty glide thingy Essek can do, can’t you?” Caleb is confused by your sudden question and the unfiltered sentencing. You usually formulate your words more carefully than this but it seems as if the word ‘gravity’ has escaped your vocabulary. Caleb blames it on exhaustion seeing your somewhat unfocused state and feeling the weight of your body leaning on him for support. You’ve been walking for hours, running for a few and fought a giant lizard of a forgotten era after all. You have every right to be tired and he'll support you in any way he can.
“Ah, I’m afraid not. But, we will be setting down for the night once we reach a clear spot.” Didn’t you catch that conversation? You were there for it providing nods and noises of agreement while keeping an eye out for anything approaching. This is a bit odd for you so Caleb decides to keep an eye on you.
You hear birds chirping around you, their song drowning out Caleb’s words but not voice as he talks to you but the song is just too beautiful, it brings a smile to your face. Looking around you can see them sometimes. Colourful feathers popping against the green and the muted flashes of a sun lowering. If the sun’s going to sleep, you want to go soon too. It’s not really fair if you have to keep walking when it gets to lie down.
The colours and patterns through the leaves are very pretty though and the rays bleeding through are to die for. The world should look like this forever. It’s so beautiful, pulsing with every breath you take. No, you’re breathing with the nature around you. You get a newfound respect for Caduceus and Fjord’s Wildmom. She’s pretty cool if she’s responsible for all this. Is she responsible for all this? She gets your credit anyway.
You’re pulled to a sudden stop, or at least it feels sudden. Caleb is suddenly in front of you pulling your focus towards him and away from the chirping birds and the setting sun and the Wildmom. You’d ask Caleb to leave you alone but his gentle smile alone and warm hands on your shoulders pushing you down to sit on a tree stump call for your undivided attention in turn pulling it away from the gently blowing breeze and kaleidoscope of colours.
“You’re exhausted. Sit down and rest while we set up.” Caleb suggests and you find yourself nodding the words not entirely registering. Warm fingers press against your cheek before they pull away all too soon. The warmth leaves your body as Caleb leaves your side and the freezing cold returns. You wrap your coat tighter around yourself in an effort to preserve the heat but nothing seems to work.
You try to focus on your surroundings to distract from the icy cold, the humid jungle temperatures doing nothing to keep you warm. The crickets provide a beautiful symphony with the rustling leaves, the last of the song birds going to sleep and the awakening of the nocturnal creatures. It helps and you find yourself swaying lightly from side to side with the melody. It brings you a sense of happiness and content as well as a connection to everything around you.
You feel yourself beginning to drift when something warm and soft and a little heavy is draped across your shoulders. The warmth is similar to Caleb but not entirely the same, though you’re met with an intense smell of molasses, old books and whatever remains after a fire has turned to embers. Your eyes fall upon the dark purple material of Caleb’s coat; most of all the geometric patterns of the lining. They are enchanting and you feel like you could get lost in them.
“You’re shivering. Come. We’re all set up.” You once again allow Caleb to guide you back to your feet and pull you along to where the Nein had set up. Sitting down with you Caleb takes out his spellbook and a small crystal bead. You've always loved watching Caleb cast spells, something alluring to the practiced words and patterns. He begins to weave his hands through the air in front of him, the light sparks of magic following his fingertips as he speaks the words, what you didn’t expect to see is the trails left by the motions. You’ve never seen those before. That’s new. They’re very pretty though; a warm orange trail of embers just like him. Enamoured you stare, making no effort to hide or avert your gaze. You catch Caleb's eyes and he offers you a half smile which you dopily return continuing to watch the patterns.
You’re rudely pulled out of your trance by Caduceus offering you a bowl of food. Usually you would have jumped at the promise of food, the firbolg’s cooking is unrivalled but now the nausea comes back and your stomach twists at the smell alone. You turn to the side fighting the urge vomit and as politely as possible and decline the delicious food much to your dismay.
Caleb does accept the food he’s offered as Veth happily accepts your serving as seconds. Caleb sniffs the food expecting it to smell off somehow because of your reaction but it doesn’t. It’s as perfect as ever and you’re not one to refuse food when offered. As he begins eating you excuse yourself finding a spot where you don’t have to look at your friends consuming their food both, because of the strong smell and the look of it. While delicious the thought of the texture sends your brain in overdrive where you get an overwhelming phantom taste which only intensifies the nausea.
Finding a spot still within the dome but far enough to be comfortable you just watch the geometric patterns in the lining of Caleb’s coat. Not only do you focus on the patterns but you’re pretty sure you can count the individual threats of the fabric. The colours and contrast intense pull you in almost pervasively so.
A hand shakes your shoulder turning you to face them. It’s Caleb and he looks rather worried. The expression alone carries over to you. What’s he worried about? It’s not bad is it? Is it because of you? Oh, no maybe it is you… You’re set into a train of emotions and anxiety and when Caleb notices his expression softens but the worry does not leave.
“Hey, hey. I need you to breathe, okay? Just keep breathing.” You follow his instructions taking deep breathes and the anxiety mutes replaced by a hyper fixation on Caleb. Literally, everything around the wizard fades into the distance when he steps into your vision but you manage to force yourself to be aware of your surroundings with a lot of effort.
“Very good. Now, you want to tell me what’s going on?” From over Caleb’s shoulder you see Veth stuff her mouth with the food you refused and that alone is enough to make you gag. Caleb notices and shifts to break your line of sight. Oh no, you can smell it again. You cover your mouth and nose and lean forward letting your forehead fall against his clavicle taking deep breaths of the comfy molasses, old pages and smouldering fire scent.
“I don’t know but one more sniff of food and I’ll vomit so please take mercy on me and save me from the savoury deliciousness until this nausea passes.” Caleb wraps his arms around you, one hand rubbing circles into your back while the other lightly plays with the hairs on the back of your neck to alleviate your suffering. Of course he’s trying to piece together what’s happened because you’re behaviour added up is not entirely like you. Right now his priority is making sure you're comfortable.
He keeps this going as one by one the Nein goes to sleep, Caleb and by default you taking the first watch. You don’t yet feel comfortable removing yourself from Caleb’s arms but do find a more comfortable position for the both of you to spare you the numbness of limbs.
The longer you sit around your mind starts to feel less hazy, the hyper focus lessens and your stomach calls for sustenance, the nausea fading. Luckily Caduceus had saved you some leftovers which you happily nibble on. The spices and herbs providing extra flavours are intense but no longer unwelcome or nauseating. Regardless of what caused this all, you didn’t think Caduceus’ food could taste any better but damn does it taste beyond divine. You’ve rediscovered your appetite and finish the leftovers.
While sitting in Caleb’s embrace, head on his stomach holding the book you’re both reading Caleb’s coat long since returned to him you’re feeling mentally exhausted, but your mind is at ease, as if all stress and pressure of the world around you has faded for just a moment. You’re at peace in the arms of the man you love and surrounded by your friends.
The realisation that despite all the bad you’ve gone through together it’s all been worth it a thousand times over and you wouldn’t change a thing. A yawn escapes as you turn the page, knowing Caleb will have read it several times at this point.
“Tired?”
“Exhausted.”
“You’d think with all the breaks and rest you’ve already gotten today you’d have trouble sleeping again.” Caleb recalls the times where you’ve taken breaks before and spent half of the night up getting rid of the energy just to get a moment of sleep in the more stressful days where sleep does not come easily; days like the past few have been.
“I would have but none of those times did I actually catch a break. I was nauseas for hours, everything felt and looked intense, could only focus on one thing at the time visually even though for some reason I was hyper aware of my senses.” You turn the page again as Caleb pulls you a little closer, about to press a kiss to your shoulder. He stops, retreats and instead brushes his fingers over it.
“Maybe I was just on an exhaustion or anxiety high running on my last bit of energy and now we get a moment to relax and breathe, that’s what gotten me back to earth.” Caleb doesn’t respond and when you look up at him from over your shoulder you see Caleb closely inspecting the fingers he brushed over your shoulder.
“You know, I’m beginning doubt this change of mood was induced by exhaustion.” He runs his fingers together and you see the light dust pulverise. Confused you signal for Caleb to elaborate on his train of thought because you’re still feeling a little slow.
“Remember the tumble you took into the patch of flowers and mushrooms?”
“You mean when I got my ask kicked by an oversized lizard? Yeah, hard to forget.” You grasp at your ribs as if to relief a still lasting ache from the hit of the creature’s tail. You turn around, putting the book down and sit on your knees between Caleb’s legs as things begin to fall into place for the both of you. Your landing... Oh no...
“I don’t think that dust cloud upon impact was just dust or pollen.” You throw your head back and groan. Unbelievable. Through the lasting peace and calm you feel the embarrassment peak through as well as annoyance at the whole situation.
“So you’re telling me I’ve been tripping balls for the past six or so hours?”
“That is exactly what I’m saying.” Caleb states deadpanned before he breaks and laughs at you. You deserve it really. Stubbornness to admit something’s wrong is what got you so far. Should have told someone you weren’t feeling right and it definitely wasn’t exhaustion but no and it was already too late when the ‘beauty of the world’ took hold of your mind.
“Well then, take comfort that it’s not just the spores leave me completely enamoured with you.” You peck Caleb’s nose and poke his stomach to get him to quit laughing before he wakes up the others. You won’t hear the end of this that’s for damn sure so best to keep this incident between the two of you. Let the other’s believe you’re just over-exhausted.

Arcotta Headcanon’s, #1.
*Crap gets DARK in this, just a wee bit though, nothing bad. Just a dysfunctional family. Last headcanon is sorta nsfw, if just depends on how you take it. It’s after the: Keep Reading.*
Headcanon’s are becoming my thing now, I guess:
While Terra may be the main breadwinner for the family, Saph is basically a stay at home mom.
Despite that, Saph was actually once a Huntress, but because of a really bad injury from before Adrian was even born, she’s never been able to go back to it.
Adrian has a bunch of cousins, actually.
Arc family reunion? Hell in three words.
Saph’s the second oldest of eight siblings though, so she shuts them up.
The first time Terra realized that maybe she did indeed want kids was during one of these hellish family reunions.
Saphron was over with one of her sisters son and daughter, and they were just having the best time around Saph. She’s the best aunt of the eight sisters. Screw it, she even outclasses Jaune as uncle.
It was then Terra realized.
Three of the other Arc sisters caught on and didn’t stop giving crap for a month after the reunion.
Cotta family reunion? Chaotic, typically involves shouting, crying, and a lot of pain. Terra never had the best fam in terms of getting along, but she tries. Especially once Adrian is born, because it’d be nice for him to have two sets of grandparents.
She has one older brother who is entirely disconnected from the family, they’re parent’s were never even in a relationship. She hasn’t gotten along with her brother or parents since her and her bro were teenagers, either.
After: she needs a lot of hugs.
Saphron hates horror movies, especially ones about Grimm. There’s to many bad memories in that.
Terra on the other hand? Traditional horror movies are great, but for Saph’s sake she’ll back off from horror movies centered around Huntsmen.
Terra can’t get through a comedy film. Five minutes in, she’ll “Go to the bathroom,” and come back when the movies over.
Saphron loves ‘em.
How’d they meet?
At the base.
Saph was in trouble for “interfering with military business,” aka getting there before the military and busting more Grimm a* than them.
In the middle of Cordo chewing her out, Terra walked in too tell her about something and Saph’s first words were:
“Can she chew me out instead?”
After a long pause of silence, Cordo starting fining Saphron for harassing one of her employees, and ordered Terra out.
After, Terra began profusely saying she was sorry, but Saphron laughed it off and her reply?
“Then if no one else is scheduled for the afternoon, you can pay me back with lunch on Saturday.”
Unlike Jaune, Saphron has mastered the art of making girls swoon over her. This was her final attempt, for the better.
Saph is a complete bottom for Terra. She never knew it was possible she could bottom until she met Terra.
But look, neither of them are exactly gonna complain if Terra bottoms though instead of Saph, it’s still great either way.

One More
“Arc… Arc… vs Arc… and Nikos… ugh… why are there three of you?”  The combat professor scratched his head as he stared at the names on the board.  “Whatever…”
Jaune did not like where this was going, they had only been here for a few weeks but he’d seen just how good Pyrrha was.  Okay, well he could tell right away after her first fight with Nora.  He just kind of hoped they’d be together… ‘Not together together!  Just on the same team… right that’s what I meant!’  Yep he definitely didn’t think she was super darn awesome, or really pretty, or super badass or anything like that!  He also didn’t notice her well toned arms and legs when they were training, nope!  He’d never pay attention to things like that.
Of course… he couldn’t help but pass glances to her now and again, she was really awesome.  Though… he doubted he’d have a chance, and honestly he needed to concentrate on himself… right… he didn’t want a repeat of before.  Turning towards the professor he waited for the actual teams.
“Ugh, whatever, boys versus girls.”
Both Lie and him stopped, “Uh… sir, could we uh… could you reconsider?”
“No!  Now get your stuff and get up there!”
Both boys turned towards one another, “Oh no.”
Lie and him weren’t terrible by any means, heck they were in the upper half of the class!  But, well… Nora and Pyrrha were at the very top constantly competing for first place.  And there was talk about Pyrrha actually competing in the upcoming tournaments!  The trio had opted out of it, they didn’t really want the attention and honestly speaking they didn’t want to be in front of a crowd.
“Hurry up!”  Both boys sighed, relenting to their future domination. That was till they were both pulled into a powerful hug.
“Yes!  I can’t wait to fight!  It’s going to be a ton of fun!”
Jaune loved Nora, she was his wonderful sister after all.  But, well… he wasn’t sure he could agree with that last bit.  Though he didn’t really have the heart to deny her answer as she continued to squeeze the two boys together.
“Nora I think they get the point.”  Pyrrha’s gentle tone caught his ears.
“Okie dokie!”  Nora let them go at the behest of her, in her own words, besty better than the resty forever!  Honestly despite his obvious… not so obvious, crush on her, he was just happy that she got along with Nora.  Like he said he loved Nora, but she had a lot of energy, a lot of energy that caused a lot of people to think she was stupid or dumb, well they always got what was coming to them.
“Still, this should be a grand fight!”
“Right right!  Grand.”
“Yes… Grand.”  Lie’s response was far less enthusiastic than his own.  Both boys however gave way, once they gathered their things adjourning at the arena.  The girls had already been prepared, Pyrrha had her own specially made weapon.  “It seems they’re taking us seriously.”
“Yep… I wish they wouldn’t!”  Jaune didn’t like where this was going!  He had seriously thought about how they’d handle the dynamic duo, but every single idea and thought was always just crushed by overwhelming prowess and might.  “Well nothing left but to do it then ya?”
Lie simply nodded, they would have to take this one step at a time after all.
The moment they lined up with the girls the professor started the count down.
“Alright!  3...2...1… GO!”
Hopefully this wouldn’t be too terrible.
“This is terrible…”
A week earlier.
Charles couldn’t believe what they’d run into, he was starting to truly and fully believe that him and his wife were harbingers of doom… or at the very least ones that came in the aftermath of great destruction.
“Who would do this?  This wasn’t a grimm attack… they don’t just set fires to homes!”  Jeanne didn’t like this, not at all… they’d been on a mission when they’d seen the smoke rise into the air.  When they got to the small farm they’d found the home razed to the ground, if only they’d gotten here sooner!  She clenched her fist as the air around her began to warp, her aura flared wildly, the ground cracking beneath her feet.
“WAAAAAAAAAH!”
In an instant she cooled off, “Did you hear that?!”
“Yes!”  Both husband and wife turned towards one another, in an instant they were off, the ground cracking beneath their feet as they made their way towards the sound.
In an instant they found themselves in front of a Cellar, wasting no time they dug through the debris blocking their way.
“What…”  Once they’d opened the doors they’d found a young boy who appeared to be the same age as their twins.  “Oh god…”  Jeanne winced at the terrible wounds on his chest rising up to his neck.
“No… not again.  What do we do?”  Her husband’s words sunk in.
“We...  we have to take him… see if he has family?  Find out who he is…”
“P...please… help him…”  Their eyes snapped towards a younger woman.  They hadn’t noticed her before, but… but she wasn’t going to make it.  The clear indications of severe wounds present on her body, scars and gnashes… the seasoned hunters almost looked away.  “Please… he has… no one else…”
“Hold on don’t ta…”  Charles stopped as he drew closer, “...She’s dead.”
Once more they let the silence seep in, “We… we have to take him.”
Her husband stood there for a moment, “Alright…”
They would bury the woman, and they would take the young boy home with them.  The young man who they would later learn the name as Oscar Pines, the young man that would later be known as Oscar Pines Arc.
Jaune had been wrong, he had been terribly terribly wrong!  This was worse than terrible!  This had gone downright ugly!
His legs buckled at Nora’s powerful swing, the arena beneath his feet cracked.  “SERIOUSLY?!”  He knew that these things were supposed to be made of sturdier stuff, and he knew that if he hadn’t been pumping aura into this metal sheet of a shield it would have caved right in.
“AHAHAHAH!”  Her body was surging with dangerously high levels of electricity.
“Your semblance is so unfair!”
“Says the walking living aura generator!  Now on your knees my favorite minion!”
“NOPE NOPE NOPE!  LIE!”  In an instant Lie pulled himself away from trying to defend from Pyrrha, pumping his aura into his legs he dashed over towards his manic sister, his palm colliding with her waist sending her flying.  Unfortunately she was able to stop herself from getting ringed out by smashing her hammer into the ground beneath them.
Jaune’s hand swiped past Lie as he continued after Nora, in a single burst he’d filled his brother’s Aura up once more.  WIth a burst of strength his own Aura began to refill, only to stop a Pyrrha peppered him with dust rounds.
“Really Pyrrha?!”
“Sorry!  But I can’t let you do that!”  She was ever the fighter after all, so he knew she wouldn’t just let him recharge.
“Fine!”  Putting up his shield he dashed forward, allowing the bullets to graze past it or hit less important targets, like not his head.
Upon reaching her, he did what he did best, he attempted to ram his shield into her face.  Only for her to deftly avoid him, his shield flashed black as she attempted to nudge it away.
Ever since her fight with Nora, she’d apparently been using her semblance a lot more, taking the time to really practice with it.  Or at least that’s what she’d told them anyways.  Which was great and everything!  But it made her really frustrating to fight, so he did what he knew he could.  Pumping more aura into the shield he was able to overpower her attempt at control.
“You really do have a lot of aura!”  He would have blushed at the comment if not for her shield attempting to ram him into the face.
He didn’t have many options, he couldn’t really avoid it, he wasn’t exactly the fastest person, so once more he did what he thought he could.  “ACHA!”  With a might slam he hit her shield straight on with his empowered forehead causing her to pull back in surprise.
“Jaune!?”  Her worried tone was apparently warranted as that blow nearly knocked his lights out.  Aura could do a lot of things, but when he messed up, well sometimes his brain couldn’t really handle the rumbling.
“I’m okay!”  Straightening himself he attempted to swipe at her midsection, only for her to parry the blow using her blade.
“Good!”  In that moment he felt her aura wrap around his blade disarming him as her knee hit him straight in the gut.  Thankfully his Aura protected him, but that hadn’t been her goal.  In the moment that he instinctively buckled over she’d applied her aura instantly onto his shield and pushed him straight out of the ring.  “Sorry!”
To his surprise Lie had already been there waiting for him.  “Did she golf swing you?”
“She golf swung me…”
“Nikos and Arc win!”
The boys could hear the cheering from the crowd, their own egos slightly wounded as no one really had expected them to win, not even themselves!
But, well that didn’t matter in the end, “YOU GUYS DID AMAZING!”
Pink and Sapphire eyes glanced upwards, meeting emerald and turquoise.
“She’s right you know.  You had gotten our aura’s rather low.”
Both boys turned towards the monitor at the same time, they’d managed to get both Pyrrha and Nora down to about 60 percent.  That may have seemed like nothing, but well, when most people couldn’t drop them even a single percent?  It wasn’t a bad thing.  “Huh!  Hey look at that, we got you guys down another 2 percent this time.”  A part of him did want to have a little snark though.
“That we did.”
“Yeah!  You guys are improving!”  Nora pulled everyone into a tight hug, her arms wrapped affectionately around her family, Pyrrha included.
“I agree you’re both improving at a remarkable rate.”
Neither of the boys could really deny it, while it felt bad to lose, well… well at least they knew they were getting better and that wasn’t a bad thing.
“Alright… well how bout… we go get cleaned up and then we can go to Saph’s house.  We could have a sleep over?”  He turned towards Pyrrha, “If you can come of course!”
“Oh!  Yes, my parents should be fine with it.  They quite like your sister.”  Pyrrha’s warm smile caused his chest to feel oddly pained.  Right, gotta concentrate on getting better.
Pyrrha parted ways with them wanting to get ready and prepared for the oncoming sleepover.
Once they’d gotten home after getting ready, they’d noticed extra sounds coming from the living room.  “Saph?”
“MY BABIES!”  In an instant the three Arc siblings were pulled into one powerful hug.
“MOM!”  Nora was the only one to return the powerful hug meeting one with equal strength.
“Hey kids… we got something to tell you.”  As their mom dropped them they eyed a small figure behind them.  “Meet Oscar… Oscar Pine Arc, he’s your new little brother.”

i’m thinking about kids growing up in a war, being part of a war. i’m thinking about two girls that learned to fight with daggers sooner than they did with words, that never learned how to be gentle or how to love the world because the world that they knew was nothing but cruel, that were never truly children. that lost everything but each other, until they lost even that. i’m thinking about somebody saying “i wish i could have known you when we were kids” when they did know each other when they were kids; when they mean “i wish i could have known you in a world where we were allowed to be children before we had to learn to be human.” i’m thinking about the mourning of a life that is still there, but was never lived, a life where they could have loved each other in a way that encompassed their love for the world, instead of love being an act of rebellion, of saying there is still something soft inside of me, something capable of love. i’m thinking about loving someone so much that it spills into the future, the past, into a world that doesn’t exist but could have, god it could have. i’m thinking about loving someone so much that it spills into a version of them that doesn’t exist. the version of them buried under what if the world were sweeter and what if we could have been children and what if we could have loved each other without the world burning and what then.

💞 gossip with ur sister
Tumblr media
"Stop! Stop! If you STOP tickling me, will you let me speak and stop torturing me with your w-w-wick--ED! Wicked B-big sister ways?! Hahaha!”
Twisting his body just enough, Sapphire grabs his sword sheathe and lightly bonks the other, as if to say “Hey. Just because you are a few minutes older, does not give you automatic leeway to try and overpower your cute younger sibling.” A light touch, what have you. Even in their awkward horseplay positions, the tickling no longer mattered to Sapphire as he steadily began to zone out into a gushy, gooey mood. Grabbing a pillow, he hides his face and proceeds to explain, without any clear give ways, just who was gnawing at his mind. Only his mouth peeked out from behind the cushiony furniture decor.
“Sister? You’ve heard of the phrase ‘birds of a feather, flock together?’ ”
The boy grips a blanket beside him, as he hugs it as closely as possible to his chest. Said object of affection was attending an event with his father an ocean away from Japan, yet Saph couldn’t help but have a yearning to have him all to himself, in that instant. That made him feel selfish, and something he’d never tell the other boy about.
“Sometimes, I see a lot of myself in this boy. No, not just myself but what we’ve been through. Sister, I have this need to protect him and just love him because I just FEEL there’s so much kindness in him that others just don’t get to see very often. He’s masking it. Masking it because it won’t be good enough for certain parties to see him a specific way.”
He shoots straight up with a sigh. Sapphire merrily hums, opening a music box causing two small figures of a prince and princess dancing together. A hand props itself under the boy’s chin, as he watches the little couple twirl around in a circular motion.

Tumblr media
“I want him to feel as I do around him. He accepts my weirdness, all the stupid schemes I come up with, comforts me when I’m sad even if he hasn’t had the experience to provide all the right words, even it it means supporting me during a time he’s hurting so badly himself. And if I can provide him wings to fly towards his happy ending, I’ll do it.”
Pure silence, thereafter. Shutting the music box, the boy shifts his attention to some accessories hanging on his bed. In an attempt to liven up the seriousness of the previous mood, Sapphire grabs a pair of sunglasses.

From the next chapter of my money’s on you, the politics AU! Currently very much unbeta’d but with thanks to @djeli-beybi who chatted me through this plot thread when I had a random angst about it a couple of weeks ago 😅💕
Interview transcript: Westeros Broadcasting Corporation, Radio4: Political Thinking with Pycelle Maesterson. Portion: Interview with Mister Jaime Lannister, of the Official Opposition
Pycelle Maesterson: If you’ll permit me to say, Mr Lannister, you are better prepared than many I interview from your professional cohort. Indeed, better than when you were still a member of your former party.
Jaime Lannister: I am, aren’t I? I wish I could take all the credit. Some goes to — ah, but why pretend when you know my record? My preparedness is thanks to Saph. The party’s excellent lead policy wonk, and the person tasked with bringing me into the fold. She took to it with alacrity. And I was just as ready, of course.
Maesterson: Of course. I had believed I was well acquainted with the Progressive Alliance wonks. But I do not recall a Saph…?
Lannister: Short for sapphire. It’s a nickname. Saph originates from Tarth —
Maesterson: Ah yes, the Sapphire Isle. Famed for the colour of its waters.
Lannister: The very same. Saph’s eyes match the colour of those self-same astonishing waters. Though her glare is impressive: stern enough to tame a bear.
Maesterson: [a pause] Mr Lannister… Do understand I rarely engage in trifling speculation. But there had been some rumours circulating of romance in your life. Could this be…?
Lannister: [laughs] No. I’m far too busy for that. I work hard representing my constituency and holding the government’s feet to the fire. This is more an attempt to — butter up an exacting instructor. Speaking of whom, I imagine Ms Tarth is already drafting a strongly worded email the longer I discuss her and not our party’s excellent policy on the Health Service. Catelyn Stark has committed…

NaNo WIP Intro: Skillset
Tumblr media
WHAT IS THIS CHAOTIC PILE OF UNRULY PLOT AND CHARACTERS??!!
Allow me to explain...
So! Due to unexpected but completely valid reasons my NaNoWriMo project for 2019 is now this chaotic story!. To all my For The Crown peeps, my high fantasy wip is back in the development stage before I strike out with draft three in 2020. As for this baby... I've talked about it a little before but let's dive in!!
SKILLSET is an urban fantasy/adventure set in Melbourne, Australia. Damn right, my home country. Our protagonist is Ant (he hasn't gone by Anthony in a very, very long time), for whom many more details hide beneath the cut.
Stage: planning/first draft
Current word count: zilch!
Goal for NaNo: 60k (should finish this draft before christmas)
What happens, you ask? Well, my inquisitive friend...
Our story starts when Ant's odd combination of skills and hobbies attract the attention the Bad Guys (unnamed, classic Alex), who believe he is training to take down their Corrupt Organisation. So, logically, they have to kill him. Fair play.
Our opening sequence? In the process of trying not to die, Ant is kidnapped by the Good Guys: Sierra, Moxley and Xanadu. We also pick up Zaffera on our travels, Ant's parkour instructor. Thus begins his awkward involvement in a dangerous plot, his recurring escape attempts, and a chaotic story with chaotic characters possessing varying levels of humour, competence and common sense. Also some serious feels.
A few more details below the cut!
More about our protagonist:
Ant is 6'4", has long white hair in a loose ponytail, grey eyes, wears suspenders over his button down and a long coat when he can. He's my compassionate, sensitive, introverted, socially awkward gay vampire. He's been 35 for 350 years. I cannot, for the life of me, find a good face claim for him. Not that I’ve spent hours trying or anything.... *glances nervously at uni work*
Ant is a writer, who's goal - in order to write the best book - is to learn every skill his characters could possibly have/need. This includes, but is not limited to: parkour, ballroom dancing, archery, hacking, cross country riding, stealth, a dozen languages and rock climbing.
Art is not my strong suit, and these guys are too iconic for face-claims, so here are some awkward picrew images for them all:
Tumblr media
(Ant embodying the ‘you’re probably wondering how I got here’ image)
I will (probably) have more introductions later, when they tell me more about themselves, but here are some basic ones:
Sierra: Sierra’s full name is Sascha Sierra. Either name is fine. Sascha is calculating, has very little humour, is matter-of-fact, blunt, sometimes rude, scary, sceptical, and has a strong attention to detail. She is the leader of their group. She loves them, but will never admit it. Her codename is Red.
Moxley: Moxley is a ‘civillian’ aka untrained but talented addition. He is curious, funny, relaxed, confident, and witty. Also kind, sympathetic and friendly. Moxley goes by Mox. When they’re doing covert stuff, he goes by Grey, but always contests whether they reeaaally need codenames. Partly to annoy Sascha.
Xanadu: Xanadu is quiet unless he’s drinking in which case he can get unruly and his dry humour turns up a hundred-fold. He can go by Xan and his codename is Leaf. He is trained in stealth and invested in his craft. He is a little jealous of Ant’s proficiency but doesn’t say anything.
Zaffera: Zaffera can also go by Sapphire, Blue or Saph. She’s intuitive, compassionate, reliable if a little unpredictable. She calls Ant on his bullshit which he initially liked but now finds irritating. Zaffera is the only one who knows Ant is a vampire. He is comfortable around her, more so than with Moxley.
Yes, all their names (bar Moxley and Ant) are colours :)
If you would like to be added to the tag list for Skillset, please let me know!

Moonlit
Chapter 2
Tumblr media
Chaeyoung hurried to the mail box. Everyday she was praying that she would hear something from one of her top college choices. She figured college in Seoul probably would never happen but she had to try. At least if she didn't go it wouldn't be from lack of effort. The mail box was empty once again. Weeks had passed since Sapphire and Riley had spoken with the investor and they had the decision to expand. She couldn't let her sister leave without at least trying to get to their dream together. It sounded ludicrous of course, but Korea sounded like a good experience.
Chae ran into the house and noticed her mom at the kitchen island reading something. “Hey mom, bye mom.” She yelled and attempted to run downstairs.
“What the hell is this, Chae?” Her mom stopped her.
Chae could tell she was angry about something. It couldn't be her grades because she was acing everything and she hadn't been in any trouble so she was confused.
“What is what, mom?” She moved closer and noticed the small font reading Hongdae University.
Her mom slammed the packet onto the island. “Why, Chaeyoung? Why the hell would you think it was okay to apply to a college all the way in South Korea? Are you crazy?”
Chae sighed. “I didn't think I would actually hear back from them.”
“So you wasted a application fee for what? A joke?” Her mom was becoming even more angry. “College is not for games. You could've used that money for something else.”
The front door creaked open. Riley could hear the conversation which made her want to bolt back through the door.
“Mom, can't you just be excited at the fact that I actually got accepted?” Chae smiled big as she held the packet close to her heart.
Her mom chuckled a bit. “Why would I be excited when you're not actually going?”
Riley took a deep breath but stayed quiet.
“I am going. I have a scholarship that I can use anywhere. I got accepted to my dream college, I'm going.”
“I am your mother so as long as you live under this roof you will follow my rules and one of those rules is that you're not going to college out of the country. Especially not your first year.”
Chae's eyes began to fill with tears. “Why are you doing this to me, mom? It's not like i'm going there alone. Riley and Sapphire will be there too.”
“You had something to do with this, didn't you?” Their mom looked towards Riley.
Riley stared at the ground for a moment. “I knew she had applied but I didn't coach her to do it.”
“So you didn't coach her against it either did you?”
“Mom, she's about to be 18. You have to let her spread her wings and fly. Who am I to tell her not to follow any dream she has? She's not hurting anyone.”
Her mom's eyes welled with tears. “Why are y'all both leaving me?”
“Mom, we're not leaving you. We're just trying to live our lives. I'll visit as much as possible and we have phones for a reason but don't make her throw this amazing opportunity away. Please!”
Chae grabbed her mom's hands. “Please ma. I really want to go.”
Their mom snatched her hands away. “I've made my decision. You're not going. Riley, I can't stop you but I won't let you take my baby girl and that's the end of it.”
Riley shook her head and mouthed sorry to her little sister.
“I love you for life but I'm going to Hongdae University whether you agree with it or not and that's real. You can't stay mad at me forever.” Chaeyoung spoke honestly.
Her mom simply shook her head and grabbed her keys and left for work.
Riley sighed loudly. “Did you really have to say all of that?”
“Well it's better that she knows now, instead of me just packing and hopping on a plane in a month. I have to get situated there during the summer before fall classes start.” Chae shrugged.
“I know but she's really upset with us.”
Chae patted her back. “She'll get over it especially when she comes to visit and sees the reason why we want to be there so bad.”
“If she ever does visit. She's super mad, sis!” Riley took a deep breath.
A month had passed and the deal with the club promoters had been finalized.
Sapphire and Riley were at the airport getting ready to depart for Seoul.
Chaeyoung's eyes began to well up. “I'm going to miss you. Both of you.”
Sapphire and Riley pulled her into a huge hug. “You'll see us soon!” They both guaranteed.
Riley and Chaeyoung's mom shook her head. “Yeah when y'all come back.” She intervened.
Chaeyoung rolled her eyes a bit. “That's what you think.” She said under her breath with a sly grin.
Riley hugged her sister once more. “Everything will work out, no matter what. Trust me.” She kissed her forehead.
Sapphire squeezed Chaeyoung's hand a bit. “Stop crying, Chae.” She nudged her chin with her knuckle. “We'll see you in Seoul.” She whispered.
Riley embraced her mom. “Please just think it over about Chae. This has been her dream forever, don't make her miss out on it because of your fears. Plus me and Sapphire will be with her every step of the way.”
“Have a safe flight!” Their mom disregarded Riley's last words.
Riley simply sighed and nodded her head as she watched her mother and Chaeyoung walk away.
After a few days of endless unpacking and business meetings they finally had gotten settled in their new apartment in Seoul. It almost felt like home.
Tumblr media
A knock sounded off of the door to their apartment.
“You expecting anyone?” Sapphire asked.
Riley gave her a peculiar look. “I've been here just as long as you have, how would I know anyone?”
Sapphire shrugged and headed for the door. She looked through the peep hole and saw their dark haired business partner, Minho. He was a handsome man who had to be in his later 30s. He was slim and always wore business suits, but that may have been because the only time she or Riley had laid eyes on him was when there was a meeting involved. With his debonair looks it was a shame that he didn't have a wife at home, where ever that was. For all they knew he may have been gay. He never really seemed to show an interest either way, and he never mentioned his life outside of work but it seemed like work was the highlight of his life.
She swung the door open and moved to the side so that he could come inside. “What are you doing here?”
He was wearing a red, black, and grey plaid button down shirt with black casual pants to their surprise. He looked nice when he wasn't overdressed.
Tumblr media
“I'm taking you ladies out. Get dressed!”
Riley cleared her throat. “Excuse me? This so last minute.”
“Plus, why tonight?” Sapphire asked.
He raised an eyebrow. “It's a Friday night. If you want to beat the competition you have to scope them out.”
“So you want to take us to a club?” Sapphire was a bit confused but she wasn't about to turn down a night of fun.
He nodded. “The HOTTEST club yet. That is until Moonlit in Seoul officially opens.”
“And which club is this?” Riley probed with her hands on her hip. She was all about having fun but they had literally just put away the last box of their things and her body was exhausted from all of the moving.
“Ever heard of Club Aura?” He asked as he made himself comfortable on their couch.
Riley's eyes bulged. “I think I saw a billboard somewhere around here with that name on it. Is it that hot?”
“Get dressed! VIP waits for no one.” He snapped his fingers.
Sapphire's breath got caught in her throat. “We have VIP?”
He nodded and waved them away. They both went to their separate rooms to find something to wear.
About an hour later they emerged from their rightful rooms and Minho was literally shook at how beautiful they looked.

“Y'all went from sweatpants slouch couture to Goddesses.” Minho exclaimed as he stood up and grabbed his phone. “Pose like the models everyone will think you are tonight.”
They struck poses together and left the apartment to head to the club.
When they finally made their way through the crowd they were escorted by some of the club staff to the VIP section which was huge and their were multiple private areas which were already filled. Minho nodded to a group of guys.
Tumblr media
“Y'all performing tonight?” He asked the men.
Sapphire and Riley barely paid attention to the interaction. They were more intrigued by the aesthetic of the club itself and how alive it was. There wasn't a dry spot in the building, kind of reminded them of how their club was back home but it was refreshing to be on the other side of things this time.
The guy shook Minho's hand and pulled him into a quick hug. “Nah not tonight, we just coolin'. Two dates tonight?”
Minho chuckled a bit. “No it's not like that. We're business partners. They just moved here for a while so I'm welcoming them.”
Riley tuned into the conversation.
“Hey, ladies!” The guy approached closer to them. “You look like my next girlfriend.” He added.
Sapphire giggled. “You must have us mistaken for desperate broads. Nice to meet you though.”
“Chill Loopy.” Minho shook his head with a small laugh. “He's joking I swear.”
Riley stared at this Loopy character for a bit. “You know they say when guys joke all the time they're trying to distract you from the area that they're lacking in.” She winked at him and walked away.
Loopy's smile faded quickly. “She ain't have to hit me like that, strangely I like it.”
Sapphire shook her head and walked to their reserved area as Minho finished his conversation with the guy.
Sapphire bobbed her head to the music as she crossed her leg over the other. She examined the activity of the club and the surroundings.
“Is it just me or has that guy with the tats on his arms been watching you since we got up here?” Riley asked as she discreetly kept her eyes his direction.
Sapphire looked around to see what Riley was going on about. The guy sure enough was staring but he could've been staring at anyone, it was more than just them in the VIP. “Girl, he’s probably looking at those girls shaking their non existent asses over there.” Saph laughed out loud.
“If you say so.” Riley knew better. He hadn't taken his eyes off of Sapphire since Minho's interaction with them started.
Minho sat between them on the couch. “So those guys are rappers, pretty well known and I may have secured you an opening night performer.”
“They any good?” Riley asked honestly. “We need opening night to be the absolute bomb!”
Minho pulled his phone out and showed them a few performances of the crew. “Are they good?”
Sapphire nodded. “Pretty dope. But we need someone for Friday and Saturday so we can sell out both nights.”
“We still have time to find others too, but anyways they're signed to a label called MKIT Rain but they're all solo artists.”
Sapphire and Riley nodded.
“Whose the guy that can't keep his eyes off this one?” Riley asked out of the blue.
Minho looked over to see who she was referring to. “Oh, that's Bad boy loo or in short form just BLOO. He's originally from L.A. I'm surprised you don't know him. His music has a really chill vibe to it. He doesn't talk very much in fact I've never had a real conversation with him that I can recall.”
“Ooh dark and mysterious. You like that don't you, Saph?” Riley messed around.
Sapphire took a sip of her mixed drink. “Seems to me like you like it more than me since you keep talking about him.”
“I'm kidding, I'm sorry. He is cute though.”
“Is he? I hadn't noticed.” Sapphire backfired.
Minho interrupted quickly. “So, do you like the club?”
“I can see why there's so many people here.” Sapphire answered as she walked to the railing and watched the men and women bouncing and jumping to the music.
There was a hip hop artist onstage and the crowd seemed to be very into it. There was no doubt that she had a sick flow even if they couldn't understand half of what she was saying. They had been studying Korean for a while but her flow was really fast so they could only catch bits and pieces of the lyrics.
“Is she really popular?” Riley asked as her toe began to tap against the cream colored flooring.
Minho shrugged. “I've never heard her before tonight but the crowd doesn't seem to mind that she's new.”
Sapphire noticed the Bloo guy light a cigarette from her peripheral which he held between his front teeth.
“I think I'm going to go down there. Wanna come?” She asked.
Minho stood as well. “You're not going alone. I'd feel bad if anything happened to the both of you on my watch.”
Riley grabbed her hand as they walked past Loopy and his crew.
“Leaving so soon?” Loopy begged for their attention.
“We're checking the place out, why do you care so much?” Sapphire raised her eyebrow.
Loopy sized her up from head to toe. “I can't have my eye candy leaving without telling me goodbye.”
“You don't give up do you?” Riley asked with a smirk on her face.
Loopy reached for her hand but Bloo caught it before he could make contact.
“They're obviously not interested like that, just cut it out man.” The smoke steadily escaped his mouth as he spoke.
Sapphire stared at him as he sat back down on the couch and pulled Loopy with him.
“Enjoy your night ladies.” He spoke again and then there was silence.
The ladies descended down the steps to the main floor with Minho in tow behind them.
“It's a miracle, seems like you got Mr. dark and mysterious to talk after all.” Minho added.

Soft but angst Ralbert where one of them has had a day that starts taking a toll on them emotionally, and when it all climaxes they start having a panic attack over something small like forgetting socks and someone else in the friend group snaps at them because “it’s just socks” and tells them to get it together and then the other half of the ship gets super protective of the one whose panicking and snaps at the friend who snapped and then helps the boyf??? Is that too complicated???
WELL WOULD YOU LOOK AT THATSAPH IS BACK WITH THE REQUESTSYEEEEET_________ship: ralberrtttttt what elsegenre: flangst, s o m f o r twarnings: Very Descriptive panic attack, shitty pet names, Finch is an asshole accidentallywords: like uhh 1200editing: i thinkst the fuckst not_________
There wasn't a single thing Race hated more than his brain. Why did it choose to freak out over the smallest, most trivial things? He didn't know. Why did it seek out dark corners to dwell upon? He also didn't know. Why did it choose to freak out at the worst possible time? You guessed it, he didn't know.
He strolled into rehearsal that morning, hand in hand with his boyfriend Albert, fully aware of the rocky state of his stomach and the fuzziness clouding his mind that he couldn't seem to shake. He had had woken up in a panic, feeling dangerously lightheaded after a nightmare that had left him on edge at three am, followed soon after by breaking a glass in the kitchen while eating breakfast which subsequently caused him and Albert to miss the subway, and when they did finally get on an older man had flipped him the finger after he leaned heavily onto Albert’s shoulder and planted a kiss on his cheek. Luckily, Albert had been occupied with something on his phone, and hadn’t noticed the tears that threatened to spill from Race’s eyes, otherwise he would be bandaging his knuckles in a walgreens bathroom right now.
Race forced himself to take a deep breath as he placed his bag down on the bench in the locker room, blocking out the deafening chatter around him as he slowly and deliberately pressed the pad of his thumb to each of his fingers, using his other hand to root around in his dance bag for a pair of socks, making sure to focus on his breathing as he-
Where were his socks?
He swore he had packed them.
Breathing forgotten, he navigated through the contents of his dance bag at random, pulling out stray shoes, shirts and a few plastic water bottles, until all of his belongings were strewn across the bench and the surrounding floor, no socks in sight.
His vision began to blur as he shoved the haphazard items back into his bag, some landing on the floor because of his trembling hands. Blinking hard and forcing himself to swallow the rising unnecessary panic in his throat, he stumbled over to where Albert was chatting with Finch as he pulled on his warm up clothes. Upon seeing Race approaching, he smiled brightly, an action that Race fought to return. He couldn't let Albert know he was slipping right now, it had been weeks since the last time this had happened and he had been doing so well.
“Hey broski, what's up?” Albert leaned against the wall casually, his signature smirk playing across his lips.
Race smiled shakily. “Do you, uh, have a pair of….socks i could borrow?” He ducked his head slightly, fighting against the tightness consuming his chest.
“Yeah, of course,” Albert said, turning his back to Race to dig through his bag. As he did so, Race began to feel his nerves lessen. He would make it through this, he would be okay, he would be-
“Jeez dude,” Finch said suddenly, pulling him out of his thoughts. “Don't lose your mind over it, it’s just a pair of damn socks.”
Race felt his breathing pick up again as he saw his hands visibly begin to shake in front of him. He knew he wasn't okay, he knew he was sinking, but it felt like he was experiencing it from an outside perspective and there was nothing he could do but stand there, rooted in place and let the all too familiar feeling of hopelessness and dread wash over him that came with an attack.
In a last attempt at sanity he felt his eyes flick up to Albert, who was just turning back around, a pair of socks in hand.
•••
“Finch, what the hell,” Albert hissed, dropping the socks he was holding and hurdling over the bench, focus trained on Race who was half slumped over, clutching his arms to his body as he shook violently.
“I’m sorry, I-”
“I don't wanna hear it,” Albert snapped loudly, lowering his voice significantly as he noticed Race’s recoil at his tone of voice. “Just go, okay? You’ve done enough damage.” He didn't look up, but the quick footsteps and bang of the door shutting indicated quite clearly that Finch had left.
“Hey dude,” Albert whispered softly, standing in front of Race. “Can you hear me?”
Race’s head moved in a tiny nod and Albert sighed in relief. At least it hadn’t gotten really bad yet, he could still pull him out.
“Think you can sit down?”
When Race failed to respond, Albert tried again. “I’ll do it with you, see?” Albert sat down slowly on the floor, watching as Race slowly followed, his shaking legs threatening to buckle, but making it to the ground all the same.
“Good, that’s good,” Albert praised, keeping his hands in his lap where Race could see them. “Can you look at me, Racer?”
Slowly, Race’s tear filled blue eyes lifted to meet Albert’s. They were glazed over, and darted away every few seconds, but he was still trying and Albert was immensely proud of him for that.
“Yes, just like that,” Albert smiled gently, keeping his voice low and steady despite the nerves that were seeking into his stomach. He hated seeing Race like this. “I need you to breathe with me, okay? Let’s take a nice big breath in…” He sucked the air in through his nose in an over exaggerated fashion, and Race followed with a much shakier one. “Good, now hold,” Albert directed, holding for four beats, watching Race carefully. “And blow out,” he said, expelling the air through his mouth. “Good, Racer, you’re doing great,” he assured, beginning the breathing process again.
As he guided Race through the measured breaths, he let his mind wander. How had he not noticed Race was slipping? Sure it had been a few weeks since his last panic attack, and he’d been making good progress, but he should have picked up on the signs, then maybe Race wouldn’t be struggling to breathe right now, maybe-
“Al…?”
Albert was ripped suddenly from his thoughts by a soft, unsteady voice.
“Yes?”
Race twisted his hands in his lap for a second before opening his arms sheepishly, his quiet voice barely heard above the music seeping in from the studio. “Hug?”
“Of course, I got you cupcake.” Albert gently pulled Race into his lap, beginning to rub gentle circles into the back of his hands as he hummed quietly.
“I’m safe, right?” Race muttered into Albert’s shoulder after several more long minutes of calming breaths.
“Yes, you’re safe,” Albert assured, running his fingers through Races hair. “You’re okay. I’m okay. We’re okay. I’m not gonna let anything happen to you.”
“Okay,” Race mumbled, yawning slightly.
“You can rest. I got you.” Albert said, shifting into a more comfortable position as Race began to nod off.
“I love you,” Race whispered tiredly as his eyes began to fall closed.
“I love you too cupcake,” Albert smiled fondly. It didn’t matter to him that Race had had an attack. All that mattered was that he was okay, and he would be there for him next time.

Episode 8: nothing like my punch drunk fist
Saffron and Wolf look for Bill and Charlie and find them in the courtyard having made up from past discursions. Hector runs into the Great Hall in a hurry, slipping that Bex is awake while grabbing food for her. He runs back to the infirmary and Wil, Fair, and Aud follow after him. Charlie approaches Sapphire in the courtyard while she’s sketching, and the two start talking and catching up. Saf and Bill catch up and talks about Charlie’s recent behavior, and Helene spies on the group while above the yard, and starts throwing leaves over Sapphire Stewart and Charlie
Hec returns to infirmary with food for Bex. Awilda, Fair, and Aud enter as well and sees Bex awake. Madame  Pomfrey also is done repairing Dia’s back and tells Hector that he’s free to go. Aud leaves first. Hec asks Wil and Fair if they’ve talked about anything with the monster; when they say that they’re gathering supplies to prepare and also train to defend themselves, and he soon leaves for a walk.
Saffron hopes the drama is over; she and Bill talk about Alana’s current abilities, and also of possibly recruiting Bill for the monster quest. She goes quiet when she spots Alana walking in. Alana’s questions are met with quiet responses. Saphire and Charlie are still catching up, and they show a lot more familiarity with each other. Nicknames, poking around, joking...
Alana notices Saf’s lack of enthusiasm. Bill checks up on Saff. Saff seems to behave standoffish now, confusing Alana and Bill. Fair and Wil are walking to the courtyard now, talking about the past few events and hoping things will calm down for a bit. On his way to the courtyard, Hec questions why he’s having difficulty with people and wondering if he’ll ever get a long-- and bitter because he was the one who took action to go after Aud.
Wolfget finds Alana, and walks over to talk to them about what’s happened in the forest. Hector enters the courtyard and goes under the tree to cool off by working on a wood carving. Charlie admits to Saph about how she’s the first person to make him really laugh in a while. Saph is glad. Wil and Fair enter the courtyard. Wil is uncomfortable because Charlie’s there too. Fair asks if they should let them know Bex is awake. They agree to let them know later, but Fair’s unsure. They sit in the carved-in window and talk amongst themselves.
Bill points out to Saffron that she might be upset. Wolfie wonders if he’s interfering, and Saff questions if the courtyard’s a good place to hold a convo. Bill relents. Hector’s hard at work with woodcarving. Charlie tells Saph that she makes being happy looks easy; she tells him that she’ll do everything she can to make things better; he points out that she’s the only one that hasn’t blown up on him. Saph reassures him again. Helene then initiates underage drinking, sipping from a gobblet she pilfered from the kitchens and watches everything unfold
Aud talks with madame hooch about her position in the ravenclaw quidditch team and senses something odd when she looks to the courtyard. Wil talks about her issues of pushing people away. Fair offers to talk to Hec; she declines. Charlie hugs Saph and thinks about how smelling her hair calms him down; hec looks up and sees them hugging, rolls his eyes, then goes back to woodcarving. Alana thanks Wolfy for being around and claims she needs a day off without drama; Saf and Bill apologize to each other; Wolfy has a feeling that the drama isn’t over yet
Wil tells Fair that she doesn’t have to try and fix everyone’s problems. Saph offers to bring Charlie to the magical creature reserve, and Charlie is excited to go. Audrey wonders if she should give another day for everyone to relax, and notices someone watching her before they leave. Hector gets up to go to the fountain, but the wood carving slips from his hand as Charlie and Saph prepare to leave. Helene knocks back the last of her drink and gets a bad vibe of impending disaster. Wil shrugs and says they should enjoying the view….
Hector apologizes and accios the wood carving as Charlie assures him it’s fine; as Charlie starts talking to Saph again Hec starts to look between the two of them and asks Charlie if he’s moving on from pining after Alana so quickly. The courtyard people starts to listen in at this growing tension; Saph is confused, Charlie’s affronted; Hector claims his comment was a compliment, and Charlie tries to laugh it off. Hector still pushes though and asks if Charlie, Alana, and Andre have sorted things out, or if he’s too comfy with Saph.
Charlie gets annoyed and tells him that none of it is his business. Bill starts heading towards them; Saff follows after him. Saph tries to diffuse the growing argument. Elena spots Helene and the two sit down to watch. Hector brings up past incidents that Charlie has started, and claims that he’s annoyed and concerned; Alana’s surprised; Charlie repeats that it’s none of his business; Saph gets aggravated. Elena and Helene starts to drink more wine.
Charlie tries to leave with Saph; Hec brings up Bex and how Charlie hasn’t been there in a while; Charlie’s shocked that Hec would even dare try and say that he’s forgotten about Bex and says he doesn’t have to answer to him. Others start to step in and try to separate them: Wolfy, Saf, Bill, Alana….
Hector starts to yell about how who gets to care and who doesn’t and how it’s shown; Saff tries to stop the conversation again with “we’re all friends”-- but can’t, remembering how Hec didn’t respond if the two of them were friends or not; Hector is gesturing wildly now as he gets irate; Charlie tells him to stay out of their business. Everyone else watches in anticipation.
Hector stops just before he explodes, and Wolfy tries to intervene again; Charlie points out that Hec’s only started caring about Bex a few days ago, and that he knows nothing. He questions when he’s started to even care about anyone. Helene and Elena are still knocking back the wine. Alana’s shocked about Charlie’s comment and Charlie brushes it off; Hector claims he doesn’t have to throw a tantrum to show that he cares. Audrey starts to walk back to the castle.
Saf tries to diffuse the situation again but Charlie plows on, saying that Hec only did the things he’s done now so that he would be removed from being Prefect; Hec retaliates by saying that he’s fine with his badge being taken, and that Charlie was too scared to be taken off the Quidditch team; Charlie blows up with the fact that he’s off the team. Charlie claims he would have gone to the forest to help if someone asked him to come; Hec points out that no one else was asking to come and just went on their own choice.
Saff calls them both out on their terrible behavior and leaves; Bill goes with her. The two boys try to calm down again and talk it out but are still tense; Hec keeps a hand on Charlie’s shoulder. Wolfy shields Alana from the negative emotions; everyone’s still watching the two Gryffs. Elena’s getting drunk; Helene gets concerned. Andre enters the scene and gets caught up in watching the argument; Alana begs Andre to stop them.
Charlie starts wondering how Hec knows Bex’s name, when Hec never noticed her now until lately; the argument flares up again; Charlie shoves Hector’s hand off his shoulder; Saph calls H out again; they’re starting to get physical with each other now. Andre steps in between them now to try and break it up peacefully. Hector, however, calls Charlie a disappointment to Gryffindor and it gets worse; Saph once again steps in but Hector tells her to stay out of this and Charlie backs her up.
Andre once more tries to interfere, but Hec grabs him by the shoulders and demands him to stop. Alana steps in to defend Andre and grabs Hec’s arm, and he shakes her off with a swing-- Andre punches him. Everyone jumps to interfere and end the fight. Charlie picks Hector up by his shirt. Hector smashes the wood carving on his face. Saph jumps in to defend Charlie and Hector pushes her back with water and keeps her trapped in ice. Fair fires a binding spell but misses; Charlie tackles Hector to the ground but gets elbowed in the nose, soon punches back; Alana melts Saph out of the ice.
Audrey hears the sound of a fight and goes to the Courtyard. Hector tries to hit Charlie with ice but Wolfy attempts to separate them; Hec resists Wolfy’s magic and tries to push Charlie into the fountain, the water bubbling wildly. Alana incarcerates Hec; Charlie punches him again as H tries to get free-- Alana and Saph yells at him to stop. Bex enters the courtyard amidst the chaos and everyone quiets down; Charlie goes to Saph, Andre and Alana are shocked and they go over to Bex to hug.
Wolfy declares that he’s bringing Charlie and Hec to McGonnagall. Charlie noticed Bex and is shocked. Hector’s still trying to break free from the spell. Helene goes over with Elena and calms the fountain water down; Audrey enters the courtyard and observes for a moment. Awilda secretly breaks the binding spell for Hector; Audrey walks to him and demands an explanation. While Helene’s still calming the water down, Hector pushes Audrey away and draws a blob of water to throw at Charlie and lets it freeze around his head.
Charlie falls and is knocked out by the surprise and cold; Audrey grabs Hector and tries to calm him down, deflecting Alana’s spell so she could have a word with him. Snape enters the courtyard and brushes off any offered explanation of the fight and gives everyone detention. Wil sees Jae waving to her; she leaves with him. As Snape tells everyone to cease and desist, Hec breaks out of Aud’s grip and runs off. Snape tells Audrey to retrieve him, promising that the discussion will be more than just a talk; tells Saph to get Charlie patched up before the talk; tells Bex to return to infirmary; Snape then targets Alana with his snide remarks.
Charlie stirs; Saph helps him up and starts bringing him to Pomfrey; Fair lurks about still watching before sneaking back to her dorm. Bex’s eyes start flashing green.
Shortly afterwards Snape starts seeing students to discuss events, starting with Aud and Saph. He promises one of them will leave the room fine, the other with a punishment. Asking them both what they would do if they were him. Saphire states she think that Hector should have detention for a year. Audrey states that both boys should lose their badges. Mystic comforts Aud in her dragonfly form.
After much sass from Saph Snape decides that she is the guilty party. He reasons that Mr. Silva is respectable hard working kid and that she’s nothing but a snobby jock obsessed girl who likes bullying outcasts. He dismisses Audrey, when she protest he threatens to speak to her on the monster incident. Sapphire receives the one year detention – prefect status that the girls had suggested.
She threatens him and he tells her she has no authority to do such and that she will provide him with her badge now or risk expulsion. Ana diaz becomes Ravenclaws new replacement prefect. Aud and Sapp talk, but the conversation is shot. The episode ends with Audrey returning Mystics wand and the two of them having a cute time together.
