happy valentine’s day! could i get something pjo or hades?
a continuation of 1
Sally doesn't understand. "But where's my son?"
His face crumples before smoothing back out.
"Not that you're not my son!" she says hurriedly. Gods, he's going to grow up to look so much like his father. He's going to grow up powerful, which is something Poseidon had warned her about and she thought she'd taken it seriously, but now her almost adult son is in front of her and there's a presence to him that she'd clocked as his father's just as much as his hair and the breadth of his shoulders. "But. My son. When you go back to the future, he'll come back, right?"
"Mom," he starts, then presses his lips together. "I don't know."
She slowly lowers herself onto Percy's bed. Onto her Percy's bed. "Where is he now?"
"If he's still here, he's probably in the underworld," he says.
If. If. Her eyes burn. She'd just been wishing that Percy wasn't seven anymore, but she hadn't meant this.
"I have to go," he says, clearly trying to speak gently to her. "I'll try and find out, okay? I'll send you an Iris message."
"But," she starts, looking up at him. What's she supposed to do? Her son's gone. Her son's right in front of her, but he's leaving too.
He leans down, pressing a kiss to her forehead like he's the parent. "I'm sorry, Mom. I'm really sorry."
~
Percy thinks he might have killed himself.
He tries not to think about it as he dive into the Atlantic, the water surging over and around him as it propel him exactly where he wants to go.
This is a mission that he's not going to survive. He'd known that from the beginning. Persephone had warned him that his life would be forfeit before he'd done it.
He should have listened. He should have taken a single second to think it through before he'd accepted, even if he would have done it anyway, even if it felt like the only option left.
When he'd sat across from Persephone, her clothes black with mourning and a crown she didn't want on her head, he'd already been dead. So it couldn't be his life that was the cost. It had already been paid.
Now his mom is going to have to mourn him twice over. Maybe even three times over, when he dies here too. He's such a terrible kid. She deserves better. Estelle wouldn't do this to her.
Why the hell had she had a kid with a god? They all die young.
He sneaks through the patrol of Atlantis with ease. He knows the schedules and the patterns and nothing is really meant to keep him out anyway.
The armory, the most guarded part of the kingdom, opens at his first touch.
He's a loyal son of Poseidon. Nothing here is forbidden to him.
Granted, that's because they don't know to ward against him specifically, because he's supposed to be ignorant and seven and demigod children don't typically just go strolling into their parents domain.
Riptide is currently with Charon and ironically he'd have a much harder time stealing from him than his father. He walks the length of the armory, eyeing the tridents but moving on. If he wants to keep his parentage a secret, then that's definitely not the way to go.
He goes through about a dozen swords before finding one that feels loose and easy in his hands. It's a bit flashier than Riptide, emeralds along the hilt and interlocking silver patter worked in alongside the bronze.
Paper doesn't do so well underwater, so he scrapes in an IOU into the place the sword had been. Someone's going to notice it missing pretty quickly either way. His dad if he's lucky, Triton if he isn't, but he doesn't have the time to worry about it.
There are three kids out there who are going to need some help getting to Camp Half-Blood in one piece.

Tumultuous Waters
Ch.1
Orm Marius fanfic
Warnings: allusions to abuse and sexual assault
I have lived my life without love.
I never once felt affection for my husband, nor did I ever think what he held for me was pure.
He looked at me once and claimed me to be his, but my refusal came with denial. I was his from the moment he laid his eyes upon me, and no power on Olympus nor Earth could keep him from me.
Even when he lay with me, I prayed it would be over soon. I would watch above, hoping to be struck so that I wouldn't have to hear his grunts and feel his skin on mine.
This is the life of a wife to a God.
Yet I was able to find some happiness in our marriage.
I bore a son named Triton, who became King of the Seven Seas. He bore my eyes, which I took pride in. Of course I would never blame my son for the actions of his father, but I had sighed in relief when I saw that the only relation he held to Poseidon was his strength and hair color.
Then a daughter came, to whom I named Rhodos. I feared what Poseidon may do to a daughter of our own - which God's he would attempt to pawn her off to.
But she held a fire in her that he had burnt out within me long ago. Rhodos took charge of her love and future, and found happiness and love in Helios, the Sun God. When Aphrodite had cursed him to forget all of his lovers, including her, it was the first time I found myself marching up to her in rage.
And I punched the Goddess of Beauty.
I feared her retaliation, but instead, the Goddess laughed and smiled upon me. “Finally, someone who refuses to take my shit.”
We became great friends after she reversed the curse and Helios spent many centuries honoring my daughter.
But after my children made it clear that they now had their own lives, I was back to square one. I would spend days watching Poseidon drive his ego so far up his ass that he'd be grinning like he created the universe. Centuries seemed to be slow as I stopped fighting him, and became. . .lifeless.
I missed my family.
I missed the ocean.
But I was reminded that I'm not just Poseidon's wife. I'm a daughter of Nereus, and the third of fifty Nereids who created mermaids and sirens. We are shapeshifters and in the myths and legends for assisting sailors in their journeys across the ocean.
My son created Atlantis. He was proud of his kingdom, and was so delighted to show it to me. He had learnt from seeing his father that no one should rule a Kingdom on their own, but he elected a council to help him truly learn how to be a good ruler.
And he had children.
The Tritonides, similar to my sister's. Never once did a son come from his wife but he did not mind at all. I watched with pride as my son adored his daughters and doted on his wife, despite the lack of assistance and care from Poseidon.
Yet I could not stay in this kingdom.
For Poseidon commanded I return home.
For the next eight hundred years, I stayed in Olympus and found myself slipping again.
He was never faithful.
He was never kind.
He was cruel.
But he's a God.
And I can never be free of him.
I would only hear the news that my son's lineage had no longer been on the throne through Poseidon - who bragged about such a thing. He declared that a merman who had slain King Nero and Queen Athena had taken the crown because of corruption, and laughed.
Not only had our son's bloodline been slain, but his father dared to laugh.
I know I stand no chance in fighting him, but he was our son - our baby boy. So just as I had done to Aphrodite, I had punched him in the face and watched as his eyes turned sinister.
He hit me.
He didn't stop hitting me.
My eyes stared up at him as he prepared to take me, “you think this makes you a man? In all our years together, I have seen you as less than a spoiled boy. How disappointed our son would be if he could see this view.”
He left me with his limp excuse of a cock and I allowed my body to heal through the ocean water.
I had even hoped I would be able to drown.
But as the Queen Mother of the Seven Seas, I prepared myself. The puffy eyes and the bruises vanished as quickly as they appeared, and let Atlantis prepare themselves for their guest.
A permanent guest.

@andrewmoocow Personally I find them to be misguided. There is a very well-done analysis video I've cited before that talks about the animation and why it ends up looking like AI, and I think it really addresses this argument better than I could --
youtube
-- but TL;DR, the animation looks "fake" largely because of stylistic decisions (l.e. turning off motion blur with the thought it would look "more like 2D") that weren't well thought-out. And I actually think the film's writing issues run into the same problem.
Because here's the thing -- writing high fantasy is not as easy as it looks. I can testify to this because I myself am writing a draft for a high fantasy novel right now.
All these years, Disney has been in an advantageous position with their animated films largely being adaptations of previous works, since they're already given a lot of the parameters a writer needs to build a world, plot, and characters. In a Snow White adaptation, for instance, you need a vain queen, an innocent princess, a prince, seven dwarfs, a magic mirror, and a poisoned apple, as well as a fairy tale world where these things fit comfortably. And since so much mainstream fantasy is largely inspired by medieval Europe, that aesthetic remains very familiar with audiences to the point that you need a lot less explanation for things. We don't really need an explanation for the political landscape of Cinderella because we see "fairy tale kingdom" and immediately know it's an absolute monarchy led by generally amiable rulers. We're not surprised when fairies appear in Sleeping Beauty, or when a magical sword predicts who should be king in The Sword in the Stone, or when Tiana and Naveen are turned into frogs in The Princess and the Frog, or when trolls appear in Frozen -- all of these magical conventions fit within the usual fantasy aesthetic and really don't need any explanation or backstory. I'd hazard to say that most people -- aside from those nitpicky critic types who get all hung up on how many servants are in Beast's castle just because they saw a bunch of extra silverware in the Be Our Guest sequence -- just don't bother questioning these things. And the original material also gives some shape and form to the adaptation's story, characters, and overall feel. It doesn't matter how close the finished product matches the original idea or even how familiar the audience is with that original material -- it still provides a jump-off point and sense of focus for the writer(s), the same way fanfiction (even an AU fanfic) can, in contrast to original content.
All right, well, what about those Disney projects that aren't fantasy? Well, in the case of stories like Treasure Planet, Robin Hood, and Mulan, they're still based off preexisting properties that people will find familiar enough that the writers can focus more on the adaptation's unique additions and not focus on detailed backstories and explanations about how the world and societies depicted in the story work. It's a lot easier to just focus on the fantastical elements like the space tech, talking animals, or Mushu and the ancestors if the rest of the story and cast are relatively easy to understand. Even in the case of original stories like The Lion King (which admittedly was largely inspired by Shakespeare's Hamlet, but I digress), Lilo and Stitch, and Lady and the Tramp, they still exist in a non-magical world that closely resembles ours, with only superficial changes like animals being able to talk or the existence of aliens. Even quasi-historical settings like The Great Mouse Detective and Atlantis: The Lost Empire look enough like our real-world equivalent that their settings are largely recognizable to us.
In just about all Disney animated films, the screenwriters didn't have to world-build that much. They didn't have to put the character development and plot on hold to explain the rules of the universe these stories take place in that often -- not unlike how writers like Rick Riordan didn't have to explain as much about the country his hero Percy Jackson lives in, because his books are an urban fantasy where our real world is just "plused up" with magical elements. We don't need to know if gravity works on the story's characters the way it does for us. We don't need to be told about the political landscape, history, or terrain of our location. We don't need to ask whether dying is something our characters can come back from.
Wish, on the other hand, is an original story in a high fantasy setting that doesn't resemble our world. People might try to claim it takes place in the Iberian Peninsula, but come on -- Rosas is a completely fictional country in a world that has magic we don't know the rules of and countries that faintly resemble cultures from our world, but we don't know the histories of or how similar they actually are to their real-world inspiration. We also have a cast of characters we've never met in any other media and a story and messages that we know nothing about beforehand. This means that we have no preexisting framework going in for what's possible and impossible in this world; no frame of reference about who these characters are and what their histories are; and no parameters that the plot, characters, and themes must fit inside, whether based on the fantastical story being adapted or a real-world setting that's a lot like ours. And I don't think that Disney really thought through just how challenging it can sometimes be to tell this kind of a story without stuffing the script with a lot of "tell" and not "show," which, as just about any film person can tell you, is the exact opposite of what you generally want. In film scripts, you want to show your audience a lot more than you tell them -- this not only takes full advantage of the visual medium and communicates your point in a much more natural and artistic way, but it also lets your audience think for itself and come to its own conclusions.
Now of course, can you write a high fantasy original story that's easy to follow and evokes a lot of emotion in your audience? Of course! But it does take time and a lot of careful and creative world-building. J.R.R. Tolkien was the king of such things. George R. R. Martin has done it. Neil Gaiman has done it. Ursula K. Le Guin has done it. Even the writer of the Nimona graphic novel, ND Stevenson, did a good job of it! But I think it's quite clear that Wish's script was not in the works that long -- development of the original idea started back in 2018, yes, but it wasn't until January 2022 that it was announced Jennifer Lee was writing it and Julia Michaels was brought on to write the songs, so the film's current trajectory likely wasn't pinpointed until then. And if the film was released in November 2023, then that means Wish's script was finished in under two years. Although there are successful Disney scripts that I daresay needed only that much time (Frozen, for instance, was quite rushed, by all accounts), once again, those scripts were done for stories with some sort of preexisting framework that allowed the writers to skip explaining certain visual or contextual short-hand in favor of focusing on their own creative flourishes in character and story. They were written with a tighter focus on the plot and its players without the need to build a complete stage under them.
The reason some people want to cry "AI!" when they look at Wish's writing is that they're looking at a script that makes the rookie writing mistake of exposition-dumping in an attempt to make its audience care, rather than evoking emotion. That kind of exposition-dumping is something that most novelists usually have to trim and rewrite in future drafts of their work: it's a mistake done while the writer is trying to world-build enough that their audience understands all of these original rules, societies, locations, and characters they're not familiar with. This exposition is then often trimmed down before publishing, and when adapted for the screen it's often trimmed even further or even completely rewritten, in favor of more visual methods of conveying the same information. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz writes about Dorothy traveling down the Yellow Brick Road and about the long journey that takes her and her friends through a lot of side adventures on their way to the Emerald City: it's the famous film adaptation that cuts out the Kalidahs and puts the whole trip to jaunty music for the characters to sing and dance to. Wish could've communicated to us the importance of the wishes to their owners through more visual means, but instead feels the need to reiterate this idea over and over through written dialogue. And again, this is a common mistake by writers when they're inexperienced in creating completely original content, as opposed to spin-offs, sequels, or adaptations of other people's work.
AI writing is generally known for repetitive phrasing and sentence structure, lack of accuracy, and lack of a personal touch. As much as I'll agree that there are a lot of character and world-building choices in Wish that don't make sense, I don't think that's the same thing. There clearly was a story someone (or multiple people) wanted to tell about a person hoarding the precious ideas of other people away, even if it means those ideas can never be shared with the world -- it just wasn't a story that ended up being told that well. And I think this is why Wish is almost worth seeing -- it serves as a good example of why certain writing decisions work better than others and how writing for fantasy projects and/or "family entertainment" is an art form that's worthy of respect when it's done right.
To sum up my stance on the matter -- I think Disney just bit off way more than it could chew and then didn't give its writers enough time to properly digest it.

Who was the first girl Robin, Dick Grayson, ever loved?
In Batman #19 (1943), it was a Princess of Atlantis, who Batman found when he discovered Atlantis beneath a dome (rather like in Undersea Kingdom and the works of Phillip Wylie, author of Gladiator and When Worlds Collide and the best selling scifi author of his time). Robin resembled her brother, the Prince of Atlantis, and pretended to be him in a ruse to defeat the Nazis, who had temporarily seized control of Atlantis through deceit.
I wonder if Robin, in years to come, ever got wistful about the Atlantean Princess...or, if he never thought about her at all again.
Over DC's existence, there were seven (!) mutually contradictory versions of Atlantis.
Tumblr media
When Batman's World War II era adventures were continued on Earth-2, Robin grew up to be visibly larger than his mentor in physique and stature, and was appointed his replacement (though he never assumed the Batman name). In a backup strip in Batman Family, he also became an an attorney, and mentored Batman's daughter in the same way Batman mentored him.

Hiii, can you write a smut that Orm gets jealous and makes Y/n suck him in the throne room, And makes her call him Ocean Master🙏🙏 with face fucking, spanking, angry sex, choking, hair pulling and anything else you want As much as you want to write ❤️❤️
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Whelp...I didn't get to the spanking but I hope I did ok enough!
You and Orm had been fighting a lot recently. It wasn’t normal. From the moment you two met years ago there hadn’t been an angry word between you and now you couldn’t stop shouting at each other. Orm intrinsically understood all the fighting was his fault. He was letting his insecurities get the best of him, but it was hard not to. Everything had been ripped from him, his home, his former fiancée, his teacher. He went from beloved Prince Orm to the black fish seemingly overnight. Sure, Arthur and Mera forgave him for his heroics when he saved junior, but the people of Atlantis had long memories. Besides, you were like, really hot and it annoyed him that you weren’t around much anymore.
You were a general in the Atlantean army. Your tactical know-how and battle prowess were legendary. So much so the Brine King himself asked for your hand in marriage. On top of that, you were incredibly intelligent with a special interest in what Arthur called ‘anthropology’. You went out of your way to learn about the people of the Seven Kingdoms of Atlantis and now, the surface world. Arthur relied on you heavily for diplomacy, which took you away a lot. Now, you were spending more time with Arthur than Orm was comfortable with. Thus, all the fighting.
Orm was in the throne room, looking at the seat of Atlantis, trying his best not to grind his teeth into his gums. “Your highness?” Your voice rings out clear. The title irritates him further, you, his beloved, don’t call him that, you call him by his name. He turns around, glaring at you. You meet it with a stony look of your own. “Is this what we’re reduced to?” He asks, “Honorifics?”
“Well, you’re not acting much like a lover these days.” Orm feels his eye twitch. “Neither have you.”
“What’s the supposed to mean?” He doesn’t miss the hurt in your voice, but he’s seeing red. He swims up to you, only stopped by your hand around his throat. It isn’t enough to hurt, but he knows if you decide to squeeze, he’ll be in a pain he’d never felt before. “Why are you spending so much time with Arthur?” His tone is accusatory, yours is flat when you respond. “It’s my job.”
“You’re late coming back to our quarters,”
“We have a lot to discuss.”
“You spend a lot of time in here.”
“It’s the throne room, of course we do.”
“You’re alone with him.” He feels your fingers tighten in frustration. Something in Orm’s cock stirs. “Only because I have to be.”
“Because you want to be.” He snaps. Your fingers tighten to a painful degree as you bring him close. Another thrill runs through him. “What has gotten into you?”
“How do you think it looks when my woman spends all her free time with Arthur? Hm? How does it look to outsiders when you two leave this place alone after hours of being here. What do you wonder they’re thinking you two get up to?” You snarl and push him back with so much force he hits the throne with a small ‘oof’. “What do others think or what you think?” You spit at him. “Do you honestly think I’d go for someone like Arthur when I have you?”
There’s a heavy silence that lingers between you two for a long time. You’d given him the validation he wanted, but his mind was clouding over with lust. He liked you aggressive. “Prove it,” Orm challenges, “Prove you like me better.” You roll your eyes in exasperation, crossing your arms. “And how do you propose I do that?” He doesn’t answer you, instead he considers you. You’re so beautiful, floating in front of him, angry, done with his shit. “Well?” You growl. That’s it, that’s all it takes for him to be at full mast.
Not caring if you two get caught, Orm undoes his suit enough to bring his cock out. You look at it, mouth open in disbelief. “Are you insane?” You hiss. “No,” Orm says smiling, “I’m the Ocean Master,” You balk at him refusing to believe this was happening. “You said you wanted to prove to me you like me better, prove it.” He motions to his length. With only a few moments hesitation you relent. He swears he gets harder just knowing what you’re about to do as you swim to him. You begin to undo your own suit, but he puts up a hand to stop you. “Suck.” Is his simple command.
You say nothing as you take position. He adjusts his posture, giving you better access. You waste no time in licking a long strip from base to tip. “No teasing,” He demands. You follow directions and pop the head in your mouth and give a particularly hard suck. He lets his head fall back at the phenomenal sensation. You set a brutal pace; what you can’t reach with your mouth you reach with your hands. He knows you can take him all the way and wants that from you now. You aren’t giving it to him, and that’s frustrating.
He places his hands on either side of your head. You understood the significance of this action and place your hands on his thighs, bracing yourself for what’s coming. Even in his frustration and anger he waits for your silent signal to go ahead. You tap his thigh twice. You’re ready, good. He thrust into your mouth, stay there for a few seconds before pulling back out.
It’s vicious, the way he fucks your mouth. You suck every time he pulls out and he just barely remembers to wait a few moments for you to take a breath. But this is what he needs, your permission to use you as he sees fit. To fuck you as he pleases. Who else would allow him to do this to them for free if not someone that truly cared for him? He climaxes within minutes, making sure he empties himself down your throat before ripping you off him. You’re gasping for breathe the moment he does, ignoring the spurts of cum that float around you.
He pulls you into a standing position, undoes the bottom of your suit and turns you around so your ass faces him. If you two were in your private quarters, he’d take the time to return the favor. Taking your clit into his mouth and sucking you dry, but this wasn’t about you right now. Without waiting for you to say anything he grabs your hips and pulls you into his lap, his thick cock enters your wet cunt with ease. Good, you were at least enjoying this. “Move,” He commands. You begin to bounce, letting out little gasps of pleasure.
He was a long way off in terms or orgasm, but you weren’t. He could tell from the way your pussy fluttered around him. His eyes rolled so far to the back of his head he nearly found his brain. “Don’t you dare cum until I tell you to,” He growls. He pulls you back to his chest, hand closing around your neck this time. His free hand manages to wiggle its way between your legs to find your clit. He rubs harsh circles, reveling in the sound of your whimpering. The position is awkward for you, so you can’t bounce up and down like you so desperately want to. You settle with grinding. “Who do you belong to?” He asks. “Orm Marius,” you say, his fingers tighten around your throat. He asks the question again, “Who do you belong to?”
“His highness, Prince Orm.” The hand around your throat tightens more. He’s aware that you’ll be blacking out if he leaves his grip that tight for long, he hopes you get the answer right this time. “Who-”
“O-ocean Master!” You manage weakly. His smile is wicked as he loosens his grip. “That’s right,” he tells you, allowing you a little more space to bounce. “That’s right, you belong to me, not to Arthur. Not to the king of Atlantis, but to me.”
“I don’t want to belong to anyone else.” He hadn’t expected your comment. It strikes a chord with him. You continue, “No one else is as good as you. No one fucks me like you, no one makes me come as hard as you. There’s no one else but you, Ocean Master, no one.” His ego stroked to the fullest, Orm decides to reward you for being such a good girl. Quicker than you can fathom, he switches positions. You’re bent over an arm of the throne, the metal digging painfully into your skin. Orm, his hands on your hips, is thrusting into you from behind. It wasn’t fast, but it was rough. Every time he pulls out and pushes back in you see stars. “Please, I won’t last much longer.” You tell him, gripping onto the back of the throne for support.
You think your pleas fall on def ears until you hear him say, “Cum for me.” It’s as if your body is awaiting such a command. He watches as you writhe beneath him, coming hard around him. He groans at the feeling of your pussy squeezing him, milking him for everything he has, he lets himself go inside you, painting your walls with thick ropes of cum. You two stay in that position for a long while before you gather yourself and redo your clothing.
You turn to him finally, lips pursed. “Do you feel better now?” You ask him. Actually, he felt foolish about the entire thing, but he nodded instead. “Good,” You bring him in for a deep kiss. He feels so silly for doubting you he can’t bring himself to look in your eyes. “We will never do this in the throne room again, do you understand?” He nods. “I mean it. Never.”
He gives you another quick kiss. “Just the one time,” He promises. For the first time in weeks, you gave him a smile. He’s relieved. All the pressure building between you two had dissipated. “I love you,” He whispers, pressing his forehead to yours. “I love you too,” you tell him. “Now, go back to our quarters,” you say, pulling away from him. “I’ll be along in a few moments; I have another meeting to attend.” Orm frowns, “What could Arthur possibly want to talk about this time?”
You frown and shake your head, swimming away from him, “My meeting is with the Ocean Master,” You inform him, “Something about a performance review.” You shrug and disappear into the hall. Orm smiles to himself wondering how he got so lucky to find a woman like you.

I don't know if you've been asked this before but what shows or pieces of media influenced/inspired Beanstalked? I know you've mentioned Gitter and Guilt stemmed from your love of Tokyo mew mew and other cool superhero stuff (I saw those mha ocs!). But can you point to any specific shows or books that made you want to create that story in the first place, or changed it to where it is today since it's been rewritten?
FUCK YEAH A BEANSTALKED QUESTION
I think the series at the top of the list that deeply inspired Beanstalked are Cats Don't Dance, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas, Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child, Bleach, D. Gray Man, Soul Eater, and Kingdom Hearts,
Cats Don't Dance's entire thing of being about an outcasted group of characters forcing their way into the spotlight, or basically finding their own happiness, def influenced the main motivation for a lot of the main characters in Beanstalked going against the status quo of both their stories and the depressing situation of the world they live in.
Atlantis: The Lost Empire and Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas have so many elements in them that imprinted on me as a kid. Like both movies having a crew of side characters that have very vibrant personalities that lead to them becoming sort of found families. And the latter having a villainess that quite literally is the reason I made Nevermore the way she is.
Happily Ever After: Fairy Tales for Every Child was basically my first exposure to fairy tale retellings with more diversity and was basically the extra motivation to make basically everyone in Beanstalked POC. And I'd say it being a series made in the 90s def impacted some of the vibes I resort to when looking for Beanstalked inspiration stuff like music instead of the expected medival fantasy.
D. Gray Man, Bleach, Fullmetal Alchemist and Soul Eater all had an influence on me deciding to make Marchens unique magical weapons that range from being a typical weapon like a sword to more extreme instances like a whole element or even a location. Plus them all having a large cast of characters was what led to me deciding to have a big cast for Beanstalked.
I know for certain that the Noahs and Arrancars are what made me go for having the Big Bads in Beanstalked be the typical "we sit at a big ass table and plot evil things" but with some coworker banter tossed in like they do in D. Gray Man, which remains like...the only anime where I've seen the villains poke at each other like a family (granted they kinda are but this is about Beanstalked and not a very underrated manga series so lemme refocus).
And Kingdom Hearts will always be one of my favorite vibes just because of how cool the Heartless looked as monster designs. They definitely are what made me think of how fun it'd be to make the ink monsters in Beanstalked parasitic creatures that adapt to their surroundings. And the "book rooms" in Beanstalked are greatly inspired by the opening tutorial level of Kingdom Hearts where you awake in a void on a stained glass platform.
Plus Traverse Town remains one of my favorite locations in all of gaming and is the direct influence and inspiration for Briar Patch being the hub of Beanstalked. I constantly listen to the music whenever I have to design Briar Patch stuff.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom 4K Ultra HD Review
Jason Momoa reprises his role as the King of the Seven Seas in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which comes 5 years after the original film was released. Once again Aquaman’s most notable rogue, Black Manta, is back seeking revenge for his deceased father. This time, Manta wields the power of the mythic Black Trident to unleash an ancient and sinister force. Hoping to end his reign of terror, Aquaman makes an unlikely alliance with his brother, Orm, the former king of Atlantis. Setting aside their differences, they join forces to protect their kingdom and save the world from irreversible destruction.
Tumblr media
I must admit, even though I consider myself a superhero aficionado, it has been 5 years since the first solo Aquaman flick hit the theaters and remembering certain details regarding the movie were hazy for me at best. Fortunately, there are flashbacks to some of the pertinent moments from the first outing. As in the original movie, there is a healthy dose of action and adventure sprinkled with some hit and miss humor. I enjoyed the unlikely bond between the brothers, and it is hard to argue that Black Manta is one of the most iconic super villains to hit the silver screen in a comic book flick in recent memory. Unfortunately, Manta is paired with a far less interesting character named Dr. Shin (Randall Park) and a collection of henchmen and women with little to no depth in this underwater adventure.
Tumblr media
The visuals of this film are the real treat, and with the 4K format they really shine. The underwater computer-generated sequences are particularly aesthetically pleasing, but I really wish this movie stuck to scenes beneath the sea. There are tons of incredibly interesting creatures in the ocean that an Aquaman movie has yet to tap into. A number of times the movie gets caught trying to copy other films, particularly Star Wars, however, this movie lacks the interesting intertwining plot points and character development of the sci-fi classic. Even with the beautiful 4K eye candy most of its visuals project, there are the occasional, (Joss Whedon) Justice League-esque CGI that leaves you wondering, “where did that come from?”. I also did not care for Aquaman being out of his classic orange and green costume for most of the movie, as I felt that it robbed me of that superhero feel.
Tumblr media
VIDEO QUALITY 📽️ :  A
The 2160p transfer looks glorious, even with the aforementioned lackluster CGI in a few limited sequences. This liquid beauty really carry the visual end of this film.
AUDIO QUALITY 🔈 : A
The Dolby Atmos English: Dolby TrueHD 7.1 (48kHz, 24-bit) really is a treat for the listener at home. The dialogue is clear, and the action sequences are bombastic as you are immersed deep into the sea of this film.
EXTRAS 📀 :  B
Included with this single disc release is a Digital Copy and several video extras listed below:
Finding the Lost Kingdom (21:22) - Jason Momoa, director James Wan, DC honcho Jim Lee, production design Bill Brzeski, and other key members of the cast and crew are your guides at this usually scenic behind-the-scenes featurette, which includes bits and pieces of on-set footage and others supportive clips.
Aquaman: Worlds Above and Below (9:39) - A like-minded look at various locales on both sides of the surface that covers special effects, location shoots, and Aquaman lore by way of a few vintage comics.
Atlantean Blood is Thicker than Water (4:17) - A short but sweet look at the history of Arthur and his half-brother Orm, again with some comics history and short interviews with Momoa and Patrick Wilson.
It's a Manta World (10:08) - Another character-focused featurette, this short piece sits down with Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and others to speak about David Kane, Black Manta, the power suit, and more.
Necrus, the Lost Black City (5:51) - James Wan, producer Peter Safran, Bill Brzeski, and others chat briefly about the titular lost kingdom, its visual creation, and its history in the franchise.
Escape from the Deserter World (8:05) - Another like-minded featurette about the location -- or in this case, sequence -- featured in the film, a handful of familiar faces share about its creation and execution while being supported by behind-the-scenes footage, concept art, rehearsals, costume and set design, and more.
Brawling at Kingfish's Lair (4:07) - A quick look at one of the film's many visually overloaded action scenes and some of the goofier details and supporting characters featured in it.
Oh, Topo! (2:12) - And speaking of goofy supporting characters, this short and light-hearted tribute acts as an appreciation and highlight reel for everyone's favorite comedy relief cephalopod.
FINAL GRADE: C-
The only real emotions drawn from this bloated outing are the reconciliation between two brothers and the love for their mother. Aquaman should have submerged deeper into the sea, instead of trying to mimic the tales of old from the land above.

With the release of AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM, the DCEU has officially ended.
You could never make me hate you.
Tumblr media
AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM THOUGHTS. MORE SPOILERS THAN FISH IN THE SEA.
Tumblr media
THE GOOD
-Loved the humour of it. The DCEU has been so serious and I find myself loving the lighter ones like WONDER WOMAN 2, the SHAZAM films and THE FLASH. Plus, Jason Momoa is better equipped for comedy/action, than drama. Meanwhile, Patrick Wilson excels at both! How great is he in this?!
Tumblr media
Wilson was just so game. The cockroach scenes (scenes because there is a mid-credit call-back) would have been downright dumb if it was played by someone less committed than Wilson.
And the humour in their interactions weren't clunky because this is Arthur having the brother experience that he never had. It ties back to his father Tom (Temuera Morrison) saying Junior should have a sibling and how he wished Arthur had one. Now we see it played out, complete with the older sibling bullying (convincing Orm to eat a cockroach by saying it's the shrimp of the land. Which is priceless because people call shrimp the cockroaches of the seas).
-As soon as Kordax said his darkest night had ended, I knew what was going on.
Blackest Night!!!!!
Tumblr media
Yes, the core story was vastly different but this was the their nod to it.
-People living under the sea should stoke the imagination so I'm happy they finally made the civilization under the sea so lively instead of us just watching Atlantean council meetings. Give us the nightlife!
THE BAD
-I don't think we got enough time with Black Manta.
Tumblr media
It honestly felt like Randall Park's Stephen Shin had more screen-time.
Stephen who is obviously Jimmy Woo's identical twin cousin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think the film should have gone deeper into David Kane's slip into madness due to the trident with more of his "Gollum" scenes where we can see how Kordax is spurring him on.
But at least they gave Black Manta a great death. I was just waiting for Arthur to grab him and Black Manta still fall to his death. But it's so fitting that David wouldn't dare let the man who killed his father (a man who doesn't even feel bad about it) save him. True standing on business! Or falling... Falling on business.
-The water effects are horrible. I think it likely looks better in 3D but in standard - hazy, uncanny valley.
THE REST
-Pilou Asbaek plays Kordax and I find it fitting that my wretched sh!tty despot uncle of the Iron Islands plays a power hungry Atlantean.
Tumblr media
-I was the only person to laugh at the Topo line spoken by Atlanna (Nicole Kidman).
Return of the King.
Tumblr media
And Storm!
Tumblr media
-Though in the SnyderCut we get Martian Manhunter, thus fulfilling the motto of Unite the Seven
Tumblr media
in this film we get another united seven - the seven kingdoms of Atlantis which includes the titular lost kingdom.
-Felt like James Wan did a fair bit of nods. We get Orn living above ground at an outdoor restaurant a'la Bruce's retired life in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. Arthur and Orn's team-up is like Thor and Loki's in THOR: RAGNAROK. Arthur even calls Orn Loki before making a Harry Potter reference.
There's a shot of Black Manta sat in the navigation chair in his Black Manta gear casting the same type of demeanor as T'Challa in BLACK PANTHER. The ending with Arthur deciding to tell the world about Atlantis is straight cribbed from BLACK PANTHER and IRON MAN. Is this the cinematic version of someone losing a match and shaking the hand of their opponent?

Orm Marius ultimate recommended reading guide by yours truly, ormymarius. I’ll try to make this as less confusing as possible because I know comics can be confusing.
Tumblr media
[click read more below]
Starting off with his more recent origin:
Aquaman #0 (2011)
(literal baby Orm is shown and Vulko’s beef with Orm, this is important for throne of atlantis)
Throne of Atlantis - this arc is the best to understand Orm in recent comics
Aquaman #14
Justice League (2011) #15
Aquaman #15
Justice League #16
Justice League #17
Or you can check out War for the Throne, it has all of Throne of Atlantis in there.
After Throne of Atlantis, I recommend:
Aquaman (2011) #19
Aquaman #23.2
(another major story for Orm, this is where Erin and Tommy show up)
Aquaman #25
(at the end, Orm & Erin’s story is sort of continued. You will notice that Rise of the Seven Seas is told where you should go next. It was a canceled event because GJ never wrote it. However, some of it was incorporated into the Aquaman movie)
Aquaman #36
(this explains Orm’s childhood)
Orm was supposed to be included in some more issues but GJ was going to use him in Rise of the Seven Seas, and well… he prevented Orm from being utilized. Rip to New 52 Orm. Onwards we go.
Orm is back from limbo in Rebirth Aquaman comics, finally. For better or for worse, you decide.
Mera: Queen of Atlantis #1-6
(note: Rebirth Orm is not my fave and sometimes he’s considered ooc to me)
Justice League/Aquaman Drowned Earth
Ocean Master: Year of the Villain
(probably my all time favorite Orm story)
Aquaman (2016) #57-#59, #61, #64, #65
(I don’t particularly like how Orm is written in these issues and you don’t have to read it if you don’t want to, it’s not necessary but I’ll still recommend it…)
Aquaman 80th anniversary
(the 80th anniversary story with Orm is another fave Orm story of mine)
Aquamen #1, #2, #3, #6
(Aquamen is really messy and you can read it if you want but Orm is not really in it. I actually have no idea what his motivation was, that’s how messy it is lol)
Orm has had many origin changes, in silver age he was completely human but still the half-brother of Arthur.
Some of my fave appearances of him in Aquaman Vol. 1:
Aquaman #29
(Orm’s first appearance in comics ever)
Aquaman #32
Aquaman #35
(this is Manta’s first appearance in comics ever, Manta and Orm are hilarious in here)
Aquaman #37
Aquaman #49-51
Some other fave appearances of him in this era:
Action Comics #517-520
Next we have Aquaman vol. 2. The 1986 miniseries of Aquaman. It’s probably my all time favorite Aquaman story with Orm. If you like Aquaman but haven’t read this story… what are you even doing??
Aquaman (1986) #1-4
After this we have 90s Orm. I don’t like a lot of him so this is going to be brief sorry. To me, he’s more one-dimensional than silver age Orm was. I do like the Neron thing with his trident though. In this origin, he’s human/homo magi/atlantean.
Aquaman time and tide #3-4
Aquaman vol 5. #19-20
Aquaman vol 5. #66-69
In Aquaman vol 6 I don’t really have an opinion on Orm, he’s just there. But he’s still one-dimensional as he was in the 90s.
Aquaman vol 6. #26-27
Aquaman vol 6. #37
Next is Sword of Atlantis. I’ll be honest, I haven’t read most of this because it’s… eh. One day I will. But I’ll include some of the Orm appearances for you all.
Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis #44-45
Honorable mentions:
Batman and the Justice League manga vol. 1, 2, & 3
(this is basically an au that takes place after Throne of Atlantis but if Orm didn’t meet Erin & Tommy, I love it)
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom Special #1 (2023)
(if you like dceu Orm, he has a story in here explaining what happened to him between the first movie and the second movie)
So that’s my reading guide for Orm. If anything is confusing for you, let me know and I’ll do my best to help. Get reading! <3

At least maleficent was a whole nother story, whether you liked it or not.
These direct live action Disney remakes are just grim dark murky cash grabs.
I'd rather have a little mermaid story that was new than a rehash.
I wanna see the seven sisters that all represent the seven seas. I wanna see Atlantis and mermaid-human wars. I wanna see Triton using Ursula to win a war then realizing she's more dangerous than she's worth. I wanna see her cast out of the kingdom. I want to see her origin story.
I wanna see Ariel totally revamped. Make her a warrior princess who falls in love with a swoony romantic human pacifist hippie who makes her belief their people can coexist.
Totally make a new story. We have already seen the little mermaid and read it too.
Do. Something. Different.
Also, I wanna see flounder kill. I want that seagull to take someone's eye out with his doodlehopper.

Note
I made some mermaid/siren Percy pictures for you ❤️
Tumblr media
Just Percilla, Empress of Atlantis asking her father-husband to swim with her 🩵😌
Tumblr media
I wasn’t sure about the tail but the only other option with blue was mostly light pink coloured tail so i had to go with that one
Tumblr media
I one hundred 💯 believe this is how Percy would look like if she had a tail when visiting all the seven kingdoms of Atlantis
AHHHH THIS JUST REMINDS ME THAT WE'RE GETTNG VERY CLOSE TO PERCY GETTING A MER FORM!!!!!

365 Marvel Comics Paper Cut-Out SuperHeroes - One Hero, Every Day, All Year…
November 9th - Prince Namor the Sub-Mariner
Namor McKenzie is the king and ruler of the undersea kingdom of Atlantis. He was born as a Mutant-hybrid son of a human father (an explorer named  Leonard McKenzie) and an Atlantean mother (The Princess Fenn).  He was named Namor which in the language of Atlantis means ‘avenging son.’
As a product of his mixed heritage and possessing the X-gene, Namor has been bestowed tremendous powers  This includes greatly enhanced strength, speed and durability, a significantly extended lifespan and the capacity to fly and swim at a tremendous speed.  Despite his differences and his having a human father, Namor’s power and his being the grandson of Emperor Thakorr led to his being named heir to the throne of Atlantis.
As the human would further encroached onto the seven seas, Namor ventured out to interact with the world of man.  His initial forays were aggressive as he arrived in New York City and declared the oceans off limits to mankind under the punishment of war.  It was herein that Namor was first referred to as ‘The Sub-Mariner.’  Namor’s decree led to numerous altercations between Thw Sub-Mariner and the surface world hero, Human Torch (Jim Hammond).
The intrepid police woman, Betty Dean, was able to broker a truce between the two combatants.  Namor was taken by Dean’s bravery and honor; so much so that it changed his mind about humans.  Not long thereafter, the outbreak of the Second World War saw Namor and The Human Torch becoming allies so to battle the evil of the Axis Forces.  The two were later partnered with Captain America and Bucky in forming the Allied super team, The Invaders.
Some time after the war, a villain named Paul Destine used the powerful Serpents’ Crown to instill in Namor a pervasive amnesia that made him forget who he was and where he came from.  Many years later, Namor was discovered in a Manhattan flophouse by Johnny Storm of the recently established Fantastic Four.  Johnny was able to recognize Namor as the Sub-Mariner.  Hoping to break Namor out of his stupor, Johnny dumped him into the Hudson River.  This had the effect of freeing Namor from his amnesia and much of his memory returned.
Namor made his way to an Atlantean outpost under the sea, only to discover that it had been destroyed by the US Military’s testing of nuclear weapons.  Namor vowed vengeance on the surface world and attacked it, using the giant sea monster Giganto. The Fantastic Four were able to stop the Sub-Mariner. During the fight, he became instantly enamored of Sue Storm, and offered to make her his bride and queen of Atlantis. Namor carried the romantic crush with him for years and she even reciprocated the feelings for a while, which first became apparent when Namor teamed up with Doctor Doom to destroy the Fantastic Four.
Following further clashes with the super heroes of the surface world, Namor returned to Atlantis and was named king.  He continued to battle with the surface world as well as fighting off undersea threats to the city like the rebel leader Attuma.  Namor married the Atlantian dignitary, Lady Dorma whom he had fallen in love with.  Sadly, Dorma was kidnapped and later killed by the villainess Llyra.
Although Namor often fought with the surface world there were also many times where he allied himself with human heroes against superordinate threats.  He was a founding member of The Defenders, a frequent alley of The Fantastic Four and also briefly acted as a member of The Avengers.  During this time, Namor purchased a corporation called Oracle Incorporated that worked toward producing clean energy whist promoting an environmentalist agenda.
Following the M-Day decimation, Namor loaned his support to his fellow Mutants among the X-Men, ultimately joining their ranks for a time.  During his tenure with the X-Men, Namor became possessed by The Phoenix Force resulting in his waging war on Wakanda and sacking the Golden City.
Amidst all this, Namor also became a part of a secret cabal of luminaries known as The Illuminati who would periodically gather to address partially dire threats to the earth.  He left the group in objection to their decision to exile The Incredible Hulk into outer space.
Prior to the Secret Wars event, Atlantis was destroyed by the forces of Wakanda in retribution for Namor’s attack on Wakanda whist possessed by the Phoenix Force.  An embittered Namor joined the Black Order as part of a more aggressive effort to battle off the cascading incursions of alternate universes that ultimately resulted in the destruction and recreation of reality entailed in The Secret Wars event.
Namor was killed by the Squadron Supreme in the aftermath of Secret Wars, yet was quickly resurrected and all of Atlantis was recreated as well.  Namor was once more seated as emperor and has dedicated himself to safeguarding his people and his realm by any means necessary.
Actor Tenoch Huerta portrays Namor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, debuting in the movie, Wakanda Forever.  Prince Namor the Sub-Mariner first appeared in the pages of Motion Picture Funnies Weekly #1 (1939).

The 100 Favorite Movies Challege
As a huge movie buff, I thought I'd try something fun on here. I have decided to launch a new internet challenge: "The 100 Favorite Movies Challenge". The rules are pretty simple and straight forward. You create a list of 100 of your personal favorite movies in alphabetical order, post the list on your home page, then nominate other people/users of your choosing to do the challenge.
There is no limit to what movies can be included on your list. Films within any medium (live action or animated), genre, and decade are more than welcome. Whether it's longtime favorites you were introduced to when you were younger, favorites that you've picked up over the years, or recent discoveries or releases that quickly became your favorites, anything and everything is on the table here.
I'll start off by sharing my list. To be clear, I have way more than 100 favorite movies, but to have the number be anything past that may be a bit much for some people.
