See, the thing about the simulation is that it's a fabricated reality. It's not time travel, it's not an alternate timeline. There aren't (as far as we know) any rules for what it has to incorporate, except that it has to be a sort of living nightmare for the people trapped in it, and depending on the circumstances, it doesn't even have to be that. Therefore, a simulation in which Ángel is a vampire and Maura is the president is entirely possible. perhaps even probable

I've been thinking about how I could contribute to the ACD/Granada Sherlock Holmes fandom for a while, seeing as I'm neither an artist, a writer, or anything actually useful lol. But then I realized something I myself always treasure are curated fic recs, which I could actually do! I've read probably like 25% of all the h/w ACD and Granada fics on ao3, so I compiled a short list for anyone who is just starting out with the fandom. Without further ado, may I present
Eden’s Top Picks for Beginning ACD/Granada Fics:
(edit: i made a second list here!!)
The Adventure of the Doctor's Heart by mistyzeo 12k | Rated E Summary: Holmes has observed much of Watson's habits and tastes over time, which is why it surprises him when his friend objects strangely to a folk song sung at the conclusion of a case. Disturbed by the Doctor's unexpected display of emotion, Holmes becomes determined to lift his spirits by any means necessary, with mixed results. Notes: obviously if you're going to read canonverse h/w, you are going to read mistyzeo. this one is just so good and angsty and features music (!!). it's got some steaminess but it also has wooing. basically it has everything you ever need. this is my odyssey, my iliad, my hamlet, etc.
Cameo by what_alchemy 8k | Rated M | For Archive Users Only Summary: Holmes and Watson become embroiled in a case Scotland Yard refuses to acknowledge. A soulmate AU. Notes: i honestly skipped over this fic for a while, since i'm not the biggest fan of soulmate aus. do not make the same mistake i did, because this shit HITS. this fic has hit after hit: soulmate-mark based case for our main duo, angst, hiatus feels, MORE ANGST, and ofc a happy ending. ugh. read this fic if you enjoy being happy.
A Tide That Does Not Turn by tweedisgood 3k | Rated T Summary: Holmes is a very bad patient with a devoted doctor who adores him. Watson wishes it was safe to speak up, but his friend is a tide that does not turn. Notes: do NOT read this if you don't like angst... ok now i'm sensing a pattern. anyways this is the first hurt/no comfort fic i read for this tag and i literally have cried more than enough tears over it. poor, poor watson :( iconic author though, read everything they write!
The Adventure of the Glad Outlaw by radondoran 7k | Rated T Summary: While Sherlock Holmes solves the mystery of a student's disappearance, Dr. Watson is more puzzled by the changing dynamic between his flatmate and himself. Notes: cute pastiche! a nice little mystery and a nice little get-together. ahhhhhh.... this fic is like cotton candy to me, so sweet and fluffy. defo recommend
Hands by MinorObsessions (draculard) 1.4k | Rated T Summary: Naturally, there are some things Watson thinks about Holmes that don't make it into the books. Notes: i'm also in the star trek fandom, so if you know anything about that then you know that hands are kind of A Thing in both circles and ergo i now Have A Thing about hands. so this is a nice little ode to holmes' hands, featuring some doctoring by watson AND a nice reverse appraisal at the end. it's so sweet :)
Conductor of Light by ColebaltBlue  1.4k | Rated T Summary: A Victorian stiff upper lip won't prevent you from falling in love, but it might prevent you from realizing it. Notes: they finally get their shit together! honestly i would recommend this fic to anyone just starting out with h/w fics in any medium. the characterization and dialogue is A1, and their argument is really realistic to me, idk. also features the iconic HOUN quote for its title so props to that!
A (Mis)fortunate Man by sans_patronymic 1.5k | Rated T Summary: December, 1880. Watson writes a note which may be his last. December, 1899. Watson writes back. Notes: READ THE TAGS BEFORE READING. this was a gut-wrenching read but god i cried at the end for watson. don't worry, this one has a happy ending. ugh now i wish there was a second chapter where watson lets holmes read the letters. to sum up: oof, my heart
The Second Smartest Man in London by FairSinner 73k | Rated E Summary: Dr John Watson returns from Afghanistan to Victorian London, wounded, traumatised and alone. When he meets Sherlock Holmes, his life begins to seem worth living again. But Holmes is a man who despises sentiment and Watson cannot seem to expunge it from his heart. Notes: congrats, you've made it to the end!! so now i must confess that it's been a loooong time since i've read this fic, but the private note i left on my bookmark was just "holy shit", so i'm sure it's a banger. i'm also sure it has angst because i love angst and i love bookmarking angst so i can read it again and again and suffer infinitely. enjoy :)
anyways, now that i've put these all here i realized how much i enjoy angst and hurt/no comfort fics. if any of you guys have a favorite fic you want to link or want to plug your own writing, feel free to!

My thoughts on what year ikevil is set
I just finished Harrison's route a few days ago so I wanted to share some of my thoughts 👀
THIS IS JUST A POST FOR FUN 🥺
SPOILERS AHEAD (just in case)
The premise of Ikemen Villain is that you are living in 19th century London. Crown works for the Queen. This would have to refer to the only female British monarch in that century, Queen Victoria, who reigned from 1837-1901 aka the Victorian era.
I think most people know by now that Arthur Conan Doyle (the non-vampire version) makes an appearance in Harrison's route. Harrison's day job is being an editor and he's also a big fan of mystery novels. He mentions enjoying Conan Doyle's novels and being excited for new releases.
Sherlock Holmes is also mentioned a few times in his route, and not just by Harrison. MC also references Watson (wish I had the screenshot for this, it was in the middle of Harrison's route 🥲). We can assume at this point that Sherlock Holmes has reached enough mainstream popularity as even regular, literate folk like MC vaguely know the characters.
Sherlock Holmes made his first appearance in 1887, meaning our setting is already quite late in the Victorian era. He became increasingly popular after having his short stories published in a magazine, beginning in 1891.
To add to this, Liam mentions Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (William's route, Chapter 2) and specifically says it is "a story released a few decades ago". That book was published in 1865. A few is usually considered to be 2 or more, confirming again that it is late in the 1800s (at least 1885).
Therefore, Ikevil takes place between 1891-1899. Of course, this assumes the timeline matches our timeline and it isn't in an alternate universe where things we know from history are sprinkled in here and there haha wouldn't that be funny 🙂
Honestly though, I do know that Cybird hasn't always been the most accurate when it comes to historical events (I wouldn't really expect that of them either). I just think it's fun to imagine that Ikevil and Ikevamp could be happening in the same universe ☺️ I would love to see a crossover event (I know there's one with Harrison and Arthur my two favs)
Let me know if you have a different perspective! I'm so curious if they added any other historical references in other routes. I just started William's and haven't done Liam's yet.

The Empty House
Published in 1903, this was the first Holmes short story for a decade. Doyle had previously released - in a serial format - The Hound of the Baskervilles, which was set before "The Final Problem".
ACD had become Sir Arthur Conan Doyle by this point, honoured in the 1902 Coronation Honours, arguably for a pro-Boer War short work he wrote. That's what he believed in any event.
This is the first story in The Return of Sherlock Holmes and the second that we've covered - we did "The Second Stain" previously because Baring-Gould's chronology puts it quite early.
Park Lane, as I might have mentioned previously, is a highly desirable street and is the equivalent of Park Place on the London Monopoly board.
"Honourable" is the courtesy title used for the younger sons of earls; it's also used by most members of the House of Commons. Insert joke about politicians here.
Carstairs is a village in South Lanarkshire Scotland. It is best known in British railway circles as a major junction and the place where the London to Edinburgh & Glasgow sleeper is split up, a section for each destination.
Expanding bullets were also known as dum-dum bullets after the Indian city of Dum Dum where some of them were made. The hollow point is a more modern version. The nastier injuries that they cause led to their banning from use in warfare in the 1899 Hague Convention, but they remain legal for law enforcement use, it being argued there is less risk of harm to bystanders as the bullet will not pass through.
Baritsu is possibly a typo for Bartitsu, a martial art invented by Edward William Barton-Wright, an engineer who had spent three years living in Japan. Combining elements of boxing, cane fighting, jujitsu and Frence kickboxing, it faded into obscurity during the 20th century before making something of a small comeback in the 21st.
Mecca, then under Ottoman rule, is closed to non-Muslims and the Ahmadiyya movement (seen as heretics). Holmes likely followed some other Westerners by getting in disguised as a Muslim.
The "Khalifa" was Abdallahi ibn Muhammad, a figure who tried to set up an Islamic caliphate in Sudan and the surrounding area at this time (1893). He faced an Anglo-Egyptian invasion in 1896-1899, lost and then engaged in a final stand at the Battle of Umm Diwaykarat in October 1899. To make use of a famous phrase, the other side had Maxim guns and he did not; the battle was massively one-sided, resulting in his death.
The "Jew's harp" is a mouth harp. It's probably from Siberia.
"Journeys end in lovers' meetings" is from Twelfth Night.
A shikari is a big game hunter.
Charasiab was an 1879 battle between the British and Indian Army on one side, with Afghans on the other. The British used Gatling guns for the first time in anger and won, capturing Kabul shortly after.
Despatches refers to the fact that Moran's conduct in the battle was sufficiently brave or high quality to warrant a mention in the official report sent to London and usually published in The London Gazette, the official government journal of record. This still exists and is used to formally announce honours etc. like Arthur Conan Doyle's knighthood. Simply put, it is an official commendation - not a gallantry medal, but one may well follow.
The Scotland Yard Museum, historically known as the Black Museum and now the Crime Museum, is a collection of criminal artefacts used for teaching purposes. Located in the basement of the current New Scotland Yard (the third to use that name) it is not open to the public - only police officers are generally allowed in and need an appointment. The Metropolitan Police has a public museum in Sidcup, but this is also appointment only.

hi! do you happen to have a list of must-watch holmes adaptations? can we see it pleasee
Hi anon! This is a great question; the short answer is no I don't keep such a list because I'd like to see everything eventually and haven't yet. But can I make such a list? I can try.
Since your follow-up ask mentioned that you’re watching from a tjlc/BBC Sherlock perspective, I’ve added explanations for why many of these adaptations made the cut. Personally, I love the earlier black and white films; if this is less your glass of tea, the first ones to cut out are Barrymore and Wontner.
Oh! Edited to add: there are so many Sherlock Holmes adaptations I haven’t seen, and I’m aware that I’m dramatically under-representing those not performed in English. Please feel free to recommend your favourites if you don’t see them here.
ACTION!
1. Sherlock Holmes Baffled (1900) Why wouldn’t you start here? It was the first, has nothing to do with Sherlock Holmes whatsoever, and runs just under 1 minute.
2. Sherlock Holmes (1916). William Gillette as Holmes. Historically very important. This is the film version of an original play first written by Doyle, then destroyed in a fire, then rewritten by Gillette with Doyle’s permission. Remember “Marry him, kill him, do what you like with him”? That was about this play (1899). Gillette was the model for Collier’s illustrator Frederic Dorr Steele’s Sherlock Holmes (1903 onward). This film was thought lost for many years; the Hartswood gang partly funded its restoration when it was rediscovered. Holmes has a love interest in this, Alice Faulkner, who is I guess modelled on Irene Adler; IIRC, they share a dream or vision at some point, which got my attention. There are some nice Holmes & Watson bits, too, although Watson is barely in it.
3. Sherlock Holmes (1922) John Barrymore as Holmes. I like this one! Again, Watson is not much in it, which leads to some odd choices like Holmes sitting down and listing his own limits (why???), but we do see their rooms in... Cambridge (sure, why not)... so they’re young, which is rare enough, and there’s a bit of nice camaraderie there. The Moriarty special effects are hilarious.
4. Sherlock Jr. (1924) Buster Keaton as a bungling Holmes wannabe. It’s Buster Keaton, so it’s action-packed and funny, with the added bonus of an extended mind palace sequence and fourth wall breaks. I just think it’s neat.
5. Wontner films (1931-1937) Arthur Wontner as Holmes. At long last, sound! Wontner did several films as Sherlock Holmes, partnered with Ian Fleming (not that one) as Watson. I like these, too. The Sign of Four is often laughed at for the speedboat chase, but have you read The Sign of the Four? Of course there should be a speedboat chase. Also: hairline.
6. Rathbone/Bruce films (1939-1946) Basil Rathbone as Holmes. These are obviously essential. The first two are set in Victorian England; after they moved from 20th Century Fox to Universal, they ditched the fog and deerstalker to fight the Nazis. Sherlock references these films often. For example, the Golem in TGG is based on the Creeper from The Pearl of Death; the play in the aluminium crutch case on John’s blog is named for Terror by Night; Moriarty’s stair pause in TRF is based on that in The Woman in Green; Irene teasing Sherlock in disguise in ASIB is based on Adria Spedding doing the same in The Spider Woman. That’s off the top of my head; lots of people have written about these references on tumblr over the years. Oh right, Holmes nearly leaps off a building in The Woman in Green because Moriarty tells him to, so there’s that.
7. The Hound of the Baskervilles (1959) Peter Cushing as Holmes. This is the Hammer Films version, so it’s pulpy and lurid. Is it Sherlock Holmes or is it Dracula? I’m not sure even Cushing knows. Mark Gatiss is a huge Hammer fan; ‘nuff said. Meant to be enjoyed for its faults, rather than despite them.
8. The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes (1970) Robert Stephens as Holmes. Surely I don’t need to explain this one. The first on-screen gay Holmes (some would say this is arguable; I’m not going to bother arguing).
9. The Seven-Per-Cent Solution (1976) Nicol Williamson as Holmes. This is not a great film, but I’m giving it a mention because the pastiche it was based on (by Nicholas Meyer, who also wrote Star Trek: Wrath of Khan, with all its Sherlockian vibes) is a pretty big deal. It’s got Freud! It’s got cocaine! The film has some good moments in it, though the book is better; the ending was changed from book to screen and a het romance was tacked on, because of course it was.
10. Murder by Decree (1979) Christopher Plummer as Holmes. Does a thing with peas.
11. The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson, aka Lenfilm Holmes (1980-1988) Vasily Livanov as Holmes. This Soviet-era Russian series is so well done; really a must-see. I linked the first playlist I found with subtitles, but it’s probably worth hunting around a bit for good ones. Vitaly Solomin is wonderful as Watson in this. Tea?
12. Sherlock Holmes, aka Granada Holmes (1984-1994) Jeremy Brett as Holmes. Again, essential viewing. Don’t underestimate the film-length episodes at the end of the series; Sherlock references these more than most because it’s where the original contributions are. A huge caveat here: Granada’s approach was to usually remove Watson’s narration, and show the viewer events that are only told in the stories, and often filtered through multiple people. So, when you’re watching the episodes, you pretty much can’t help but accept all events as factual, whereas the same cannot be assumed in the stories at all. In my opinion, this is the biggest limitation of the Granada series. They do make up for this with creative framing and lighting; pay attention to mirrors, for example, which are used to great effect throughout the series. And when they choose to diverge from the original story, it’s often to do something quite interesting. But I’d strongly recommend reading the story before watching the episode, so that you can see how they changed it every time; there is a real tendency for people (and like... the Granada fans are quite zealous about this) to just assume that everything Granada did was exactly canonical, and it’s simply not. I’ll also point out that the series was mainly produced by Michael Cox, who also commissioned the Oxford World’s Classics editions of the Holmes stories, which were annotated by a team of very smart people, including Richard Lancelyn Green. Cox also wrote a biography of MR James. Anyway, he knew his stuff, and it shows in the non-canonical places, in the divergences from canon.
13. The Great Mouse Detective (1986) Barrie Ingham voicing Basil of Baker Street. No explanation needed.
14. Without a Clue (1988) Michael Caine as Holmes. This is mostly here for Amy! It’s revealed early in this film that Watson is the brains behind the operation. Personally, I prefer The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes’s Smarter Brother (1975) in the “Holmes isn’t smart actually” genre, but only because I think Gene Wilder is funnier than Michael Caine.
15. A Case of Evil (2002) James D’Arcy as Holmes. I’m sorry, this has no place on a must-watch list, but it’s one of two so-bad-it’s-somehow-something films that I’m including (yes, you know what the other one is). It’s all repressed trauma and spooky dreams, I can’t leave it out.
18. The Hound of the Baskervilles (2002) Richard Roxburgh as Holmes. Ok, again, I apologize, but this is the only Hound film among over 30 to nail the tone of the book as far as Holmes and Watson are concerned—to recognize that the point of the book is that Holmes deserted Watson and now he’s back (yes, I’m aware the novel is backdated, it doesn’t matter). The only one! The casting is not great, it’s got some other issues, but it deserves more credit than it gets.
17. Reichenbach Falls (2007) Alec Newman as Detective Inspector John Buchan, who is somehow both a Holmes and a Watson. Required viewing; if you haven’t seen it, then hell mend you. I wrote an enormous meta on this film a few years ago.
18. Sherlock Holmes and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (2009/2011) Robert Downey Jr. as Holmes. I said what I said.
19. Sherlock Holmes, aka Asylum Holmes (2010) Ben Syder as Holmes. Awful. Frankly appalling. But may I also submit: Dinosaurs. And robots. It’s a fun time, especially with friends, and by now I really have convinced myself that Steven Moffat based the Doctor Who episode Deep Breath on it.
20. Sherlock (2010-) Benedict Cumberbatch as Holmes. Eyyyyyy.
21. Sherlock Holmes, aka New Russian Holmes (2013) Igor Petrenko as Holmes. Full disclosure, I haven’t watched this yet. I need to rectify that soon.
22. Miss Sherlock (2018) Yûko Takeuchi as Holmes. What a tragic loss; this was a wonderful series and she was brilliant in it. Saw what BBC Sherlock was doing and tried to beat it to the punch. I have to respect that.

Some time during the first few days of January, 1974, my parents and I went to the Aldwych Theatre, London, to see the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of Sherlock Holmes, the 1899 play by Arthur Conan Doyle and the American actor-playwright William Gillette. (My research indicates that performances began on Tuesday, January 1st. I'm all but certain that we saw a matinée; assuming that Wednesday is matinée day in the U.K., as it is in the U.S., then this would have had to have been on the 2nd, as we would have needed to return to Chicago no later than the 5th, so that my mother and I would be de-jetlagged and ready for school on the 7th.)
This was the first time in more than 70 years that the play had been seen in London. It was a big enough deal that the R.S.C. put out a commemorative poster:

Look at this cast:

And here's a list of the people who were in the R.S.C. at that time:

This really was a golden age.
That was a memorable afternoon at the theater for many reasons, not all of which had to do with the play itself, or even with the performance.
The performance was very late getting started. Five minutes stretched into ten and then towards fifteen. Finally, someone emerged from behind the curtain to tell us that Trevor Peacock, who played Sidney Prince, had been in a traffic accident and wouldn't be arriving at the theater any time soon, so someone was going to read his part. I don't remember who this was: it might have been the assistant stage manager, Philip Hoare, or Stanley MacKenzie, one of two deputy stage mangers (the other was Diana Bruce). In any case, he was terrific. If you know this play, you know that Sidney Prince is a safe-cracker, and the substitute actor used the script as a prop, consulting it at intervals as though it were a user's manual for getting the job done.
We had main-floor seats. When the lights came up for intermission, we saw that the house wasn't very full (which, again, argues for a weekday matinée). Indeed, there were only two other people in our section and row — and one of them was Paddington Bear! Well, okay, it was actually a very large plush toy Paddington Bear, but there he was, in his own seat, next to a young woman. We asked if he was enjoying the play. She said yes.

rules: list eight shows for your followers to get to know you better.
tagged by @alethiometry!! thank u bestie <333
tagging: @wolfhalls, @godsopenwound, @derelictship, @avgustea, @besukhov, @wolveswithoutteeth <3
(lets see if i HAVE 8 shows)
elementary. SHOW OF ALL TIME. it is truly the only sherlock holmes adaptation i've watched from the last 20 (30? 40??) years that feels like a modern adaptation and not a self-parody (miss sherlock excluded — i've yet to watch!). i never got the hate towards nyc being the setting except i guess america bad?? but it makes total sense imo and it breathes light into one of the most adapted books ever. jlm's sherlock is SO treasured to me, lucy liu's watson is just as dimensional as sherlock, girlboss moriarty, BEES, also the focus on recovery throughout the series gave it so much heart, its truly such a good adaptation. i know fundamentally its just some procedural crime show (and its biggest flaw is obviously the inclusion of ny-pd, s03 e08 you mean nothing to me) but i love her and i rewatch the first season pretty much every year. literally where would i be without her
the x files. mulder and scully have had an IRREVERSABLE impact on my fashion sense. i am watching every single episode with a notepad by my side and taking detailed notes of what they're wearing. i love this show so much, every other episode is outrageously problematic even for its time, but i'm obsessed. iconic theme tune (my dads ringtone btw). scully is one of my ultimate pop culture heroes but i think i'm more like mulder (my hero for being irritating). i think my favourite episode is wet wired. i've never seen anything past season 7.
the sopranos. WAIT! wait before u (understandably) judge me i promise its more than a dudebro mafioso show, i think the characters are all some of the best written characters i've ever encountered, and idk i don't watch a lot of similar shows but i don't get the impression that its about justifying the mafia lifestyle, quite the opposite. also the introspection that you see develop is phenomenal. what really floors me about the show is that the female characters are ALL so incredibly written, carmella soprano i love u 💍 i'm actually only half-way through this show so maybe the inclusion to this list is premature but i trust my judgement
succession. this show is constantly rotating in my mind like a slow roast. i'm also quite convinced that 90% of the fans are watching an entirely different show. is tom my favourite character YES but i hope shiv leaves him and he gets nothing in the divorce and he has to move back to iowa or wherever. he's the worst. marcia i love you
it's always sunny in philadelphia. embarrassing how many times i've seen seasons 2-10 but my brother and i's lexicon are primarily references from this show. i think my favourite episode is the cereal defense, it's so stupid.
1899. netflix i am gonna get you bitch 🔪 daniel crawling out of the atlantic ocean changed me
ummmm. i don't have 8 shows. can i leave this as a placeholder for yellowjackets because i see potential my loves <3 if not um. earth's greatest spectacles, the 3 part documentary series narrated by domhnall gleeson that changed my world. i think about it all the time. i love u new england i love u svalbard i love u okavango.
how to get away with murder.
Tumblr media
this show has done so much psychological damage, charlotte and i watched it together and i've not been the same since. i don't even know where to start; why is your penis on that dead girls phone. season 1 part 1 being the best few episodes of television ever and immediately going downhill after. annalise keating will send anyone to jail. bonnie killing a 22 year old because why not. whatever the hapstall case was. michaela pratt's villain era (ilu). laurel's flop era. connor's haircut. michaelasher breakup on some random crossover episode in favour of a character who gets about 2 minutes screentime. guy murdered at the gay wedding. michaela growling at someone in a grocery store. connor being the ONLY person to get arrested for murder(conspiracy?) out of the k5, while arguably being the person most removed from committing actual murder (flop king). gay divorce. frank incest reveal based entirely on the ''foreshadowing'' of some throwaway season 1 line. franklaurel girlies found dead. whatever the fuck was going on in the series finale. i'm not the same

January 2023: 1900s (+ pre-1900s)
It’s January 1st, which means that I’m kicking off my 2023 reading challenge, Reading Through the Decades! You can read more about the challenge on my previous post. Basically, it’s a year-long reading challenge where we read books (and explore other media) from the 1900s to the 2020s, decade-by-decade.
In January, we’re starting off with the 1900s (1900-1909). I’m also looking at things from the late 1800s and just generally around the turn of the century.
Here are my recommendations for January (all I’ve greatly enjoyed previously!):
📺 Granada Sherlock Holmes (1984-1994) 📖 The Turn of the Screw (1898), Henry James 🎬 Colette (2018), dir. Wash Westmoreland 📖 Три сестры (1901; Three Sisters), Anton Chekhov 📖 A Room with a View (1908), E.M. Forster 📖 Le Fantôme de l'Opéra (1909-1910; The Phantom of the Opera), Gaston Leroux
And here is what I myself am planning to spend time with this month:
📖 The Complete Sherlock Holmes (1887-1927), by Arthur Conan Doyle 🎬 Journal d'une femme de chambre (2015; Diary of a Chambermaid), dir. Benoît Jacquot 🎬 Miss Marx (2020), dir. When I was little, my dad would read me Sherlock Holmes before bedtime. I became so inundated with Sherlock Holmes that I refused to believe he wasn't a real person. Nobody could convince me that John Watson was NOT just a secret name Arthur Conan Doyle used for himself, and Sherlock Holmes was not a secret name for someone else. I was convinced that the reason there was no evidence of these crimes or people ever existing was because Moriarty destroyed all the evidence in an attempt to tarnish Holmes' name by removing it completely from the history books. If I could believe that for so long and not let anyone tell me otherwise, I can also believe that 1899 will not only get a second season, but a third season too, as well as a movie and a spin-off. Do not tell me I'm wrong.

Introductions…
I am Serpentine. I post to let my thoughts escape the confines of my mind. I thoroughly enjoy all of the following;
literature and writing, collecting (insects, flowers, paperbacks (any and all editions), glassware and chinaware, figurines, comics, oracle cards, crystals etc.), film and tv media (more on the fantastical side), anime, gaming, gardening, astrology and divination, long discussions, philosophy, psychology, occult and arcane arts, music, kpop, kdrama, fashion, art, altruism, environmental studies, meditation, film/tv/game scores, mythology and folklore etc.
I’m an avid fan of; Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts (Not JKRowling), Hogwarts Legacy, The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, Game of Thrones, Sherlock Holmes, a little bit of DC, The Sandman, The Umbrella Academy, The Infernal Devices and The Last Hours, Castlevania, Arcane, Star Wars, The Hunger Games, Daredevil, Attack On Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, Naruto, Stranger Things, My Hero Academia, Genshin Impact, Destiny, The Elder Scrolls, Assassin’s Creed, The Matrix, Supernatural, Penny Dreadful, Seraph of the End, Fruit’s Basket, Animal Crossing, Pokémon, Tokyo Ghoul, Demon Slayer, Hayao Miyazaki Films, American Horror Story, Underworld, X-Men, Marvel, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Witcher, Crimson Peak, 1899, Pride & Prejudice and much more.
My Myers-Briggs type is INFJ, enneagram type 9, an April Aries and in Slytherin House. My alignment is Chaotic Good and I’m eclectic Pagan. I keep detailed lists of my favourite words, names, characters, actors and colours, among other things. Cataloguing my music library and tracking what i’ve read/watched and providing my insight is also a hobby of mine. I believe in equality and acceptance. I don’t necessarily believe in the existence of good or evil. I question and sometimes renounce traditional values and systems. And I believe the greatest strength anyone can possess is an open mind and kind heart.

Sons Of The Silent Age. Part One.
1) Ivy Duke (1896-1937) starred in the 1920 hit film The Lure of Crooning Water. She drank herself to death after her career took a downward turn.
2) Sybil Rhoda (1902-2005) starred in Alfred Hitchcock’s Downhill opposite Ivor Novello. Interviewed at age 101, she said "I'm amazed I've existed so long. I'm surprised about the whole thing. I can't get over it,"
3) Maurice Elvey (1887-1967) was one of the most prolific film directors in history, making nearly 200 films between 1913 and 1957. During the silent film era, he directed as many as 20 films per year. His adaptations of Sherlock Holmes were praised by Arthur Conan Doyle. In order to film the sinking of a troop ship, Elvey built a water tank in his own back garden, spending two months to fill it up via his kitchen tap.
4) Victoria Hopper (1909–2007) was a British actress popular during the 1930s. From 1934 until 1939, she was married to film director Basil Dean, who grew interested in Hooper due to her resemblance to his former lover Meggie Albanesi (1899-1923). Dean cast her in several major films, which did badly at the box office.
5) Chrissie White (1895-1989) appeared in more than 180 films. White married director Henry Edwards, and they became one of the most newsworthy celebrity couples of the 1920s. They had two children, and remained together until his death in 1952.
6) Cora Goffin (1902-2004) was an actress on the London stage. She acted in two silent films, during which she leapt from a moving horse and threw herself beneath a moving car in Paris. There were reports that she had her legs insured for £20,000 with Lloyd's of London. Goffin married theatre manager Emile Littler in 1933. She became Lady Littler when Emile was knighted in 1974
