Exposing SVSSS Fanon: 21/∞

SHEN YUAN'S ORIGINAL BODY LOOKED VERY SIMILAR TO SHEN QINGQIU'S

Rating: FANON - CONFLICTING

A widely accepted potrayal in fanworks is that Shen Yuan and Shen Jiu have a similar enough appearance to appear as if they were the same person, or at least closely related to one another. While this depiction provides for an exploration of a lot of interesting and entertaining plots, it actually contradicts the novel's text.

When Shen (Yuan) Qingqiu first examines his appearance after transmigrating, he notes the following:

It was a fine-featured face with pitch-black eyes and brows, thin nose and lips, and a most scholarly air. Combined with a slender body and long legs, he could more or less be considered beautiful. Though his real age was unclear, this was a cultivation novel: Shen Qingqiu had achieved Mid Core Formation, which meant he’d perfectly preserved his youthful appearance. He was certainly many times better-looking than Shen Yuan’s headcanon for him. (7 Seas, Ch. 1)

Notably, there is no comparison in this original assessment to Shen Yuan's original body. It would be expected that when one transmigrates into a different body with no relation to their own, the new body wouldn't resemble their original one that much, and that it would be somewhat surprising and notable if it did. Therefore, it could be argued that because Shen Qingqiu does not note any resemblance at this point, that there is little to no resemblance to be seen. However, it's also possible that he simply wasn't thinking too much about his former appearance at this time, and didn't make any comparisons because of that.

More telling, however, is the description of the body he created with the Sun Moon Dew Flower Mushroom:

The human cast they used had been based on his former appearance as Shen Yuan. It didn’t compare to Shen Qingqiu’s immortal poise, but it wasn’t a bad mortal container. It just had a bit of a certain listlessness—the listlessness of a worthless pretty boy idling his life away. But because he’d used some of his blood while cultivating the Dew Mushroom, a touch of foreign influence was inevitable. When Shen Qingqiu tumbled to the side of a creek and used a sharp mountain rock to scrape away his whiskers for a look, his new face was still three or four parts of ten similar to Shen Qingqiu’s. Without a word, he re-pasted the whiskers onto his face. (7 Seas, Ch. 9)

Here it is clearly noted that the mushroom body's resemblance to Shen Qingqiu is due to the influence of Shen Qingqiu using his current body's blood to cultivate it. Even then, it is only a 30-40% resemblance, which is far from identical. Without that influence, the mushroom body, and thus Shen Yuan's original body, would have likely barely resembled Shen Qingqiu's at all.

Furthermore, when Sha Hualing captures Shen Qingqiu to use as a vessel for Luo Binghe's cultivation, she is already aware that Luo Binghe specifically does not want to use cultivators who resembled Shen Qingqiu.

Who could have known that the vessel she had settled on this time would also coincidentally share some similarities with that fucking Shen Qingqiu’s eyes and brows! This was definitely another violation of Luo Binghe’s major taboo! (7 Seas, Ch. 10)

The resemblance between Shen Qingqiu and the mushroom body was slight enough that Sha Hualing didn't notice the resemblance on first glance-- only Luo Binghe, who had spent much more time with Shen Qingqiu, was able to catch it.

Worth noting here as well is the phrase "eyes and brows." In Chinese, this is 眉眼， and while literally it does mean "eyes and brows," 眉眼 also refers to physical appearance in general. So this may describe the specific features where the mushroom body is similar to Shen Qingqiu's, but it is equally likely (and this is how I read it) that it does not refer to specifically his eyes and brows but rather that there was just some similarity in his looks.

In conclusion, it can be said that canonically, the original body of Shen Yuan didn't really look like Shen Qingqiu at all, despite popular depiction. Of course, if the premise of a fanwork revolves around that physical similarity-- for example, if Shen Yuan and Shen Jiu were being portrayed as identical twins-- then just like any other aspect of canon, this one can also be bent and altered in order to fit the story being told. Nonetheless, it is good to remember that this depiction still contradicts canon.

One thing that I hate is the fanon characterization of James Potter specifically by Marauders fans who dislike Snape. Like they turn him into this sweet angel who was kind to everybody and never did anything wrong and he never got angry or showed any human emotion besides happiness. But that legitimately would never happen and the biggest proof of that is the fact that he’s an Aries. I know this because I’M an Aries and I was literally born just one day after him. I literally calculated what his birth chart would have been if he was real and had been born in England on March 27th 1960. His sun and moon signs are both Aries and his rising sign his Sagittarius, making him a TRIPLE fire sign. My sun sign is Aries and my moon and rising signs are both Sagittarius, which means I am also a triple fire sign with the EXACT SAME two fire signs in my top three as James. So I can quite literally attest to the fact that James could never be just sunshine and rainbows and would most like have anger issues just like me BECAUSE WE ARE SO SIMILAR (minus being a bully)!! Like when I say I am James and James is me I mean it and it’s literally impossible for someone to say James is this perfect figure of nobility and kindness because one, canonically he isn’t, and TWO his charts say otherwise. Like Marauders fans who hate Snape (because we all know people who like both Snape and the Marauders have the best characterizations of both) try so hard to deny that James could’ve ever been more complex than just a simple sweetheart golden boy when the proof is LITERALLY IN THE PUDDING!! LIKE OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE!!

giving reijean complete birth charts

i make fun of yams for making frankly the majority of the 104th and the warrior unit aries and leo suns, including Jean and Reiner (would just say "fire signs," but he doesn't seem to gravitate toward sagittarius birthdays). but just because this cast is lousy with the same sun sign doesn't mean they're identical to their comrades! the differences (and friction of similarity) come from everyone's rising sign, which contextualizes the sun for the individual.

🪐 methodology

this project requires three bold executive decisions: (1) birth times, (2) birth years as proxy for 832-35, and (3) birth location as proxy for liberio and paradis.

birth times, to give us their rising signs. this makes up the majority of this post. besides the above reason, sun + ascendant also tells us if the person was born in the day or night since the ascendant is the sign on the eastern horizon at time of birth. someone born at/around sunrise has the same sun and rising sign, for example.

851 in AoT = 1853 in our world. what about every other planet? astrology is not like MBTI; we don't plug in values willy nilly (my killjoy pet peeve? ppl hc'ing moon signs that are physically, astronomically impossible; moon phases and thus moon signs describe sun-moon aspects). i have to pick a real-world ephemeris range in order to limit my freedom of choice to just rising signs. to advance my own indulgent new historicist reading, i'm looking at ephemerides from the 1830s to fill in the rest of these charts, matching the survey corps repo'ing the marleyan scouting ship to the arrival of the perry expedition in the ryukyu islands.

kinda crazy decision here, but liberio = macau, the walls = osaka. the world of AoT is ours upside-down, sure, but the opposite latitude of madagascar is like, saudi arabia, which i don't think this matches because of climate, and iseyama pretty clearly conceives of paradis with more than two northern hemisphere seasons (the leaves on the tree on the hill). these city choices betray my own research interests, but the antagonism between paradis and marley across a narrow sea feels more like japan vs like all of east asia (including russia) throughout history, but especially the late 19th and early 20th centuries. physically, paradis' northeastern position next to marley (longitude) matters a lot. it's why the birth charts of ppl from northern europe are so weird if you use quadrant house systems.

right away, the 1830s give us the outer/generational planets, where Reiner's 2-3 years seniority does make difference for uranus, the fastest-moving outer: they share pluto in aries and neptune in capricorn, but Reiner's uranus is in aquarius and Jean's is in pisces. i don't rly use these unless they make close contact w inner planets though

specific to reijean / what is fanon at this point

Jean's birth year is pretty unambiguous to me with him and Eren as foils: 835, or 1837.

i assume the cadet corps disbands and assembles each spring. winter happens between the reclamation of wall maria and the SC reaching the sea, which puts the events of seasons 1-2 and s3p1 around april or may, and the return to shiganshina arc in august or september. meaning, Jean and Eren just turned 15.

if Reiner is 17 when the 104th disbanded, he's actually two years and four months older than Jean and Eren; for most of the year (august through march), he seems three years older!! that means he spends his 18th birthday w fellow bday boy Zeke, plus Pieck on aug. 4 :) granted they probably spent that time planning to kill the whole SC, but i like to think Bertie threw them a party :)

birth time / rising sign considerations

do they have a day or night vibe? deadass. briefly, each light "leads" a sect of planets that are strengthened if their leader is in charge. sun = jupiter and saturn and moon = venus and mars; mercury has no allegiance, can go either way (because of mythology; mercury/hermes has to traverse every realm as a messenger). this mitigates "bad" placements or sabotages "good" ones.

also vibe-based: each of the seven classical planets (inner sailor senshi + saturn) traditionally rules two signs, while the moon rules cancer and the sun rules leo. this is often used phrenologically (for racism), but seeing as these men are lines and iseyama speaks about designing them, i think it is okay.

where is person A's sun in person B's chart? and vice versa, and same applies for rising signs and their rulers. for relationships, astrologers sometimes use this to indicate where/how/when partners meet each other.

first glance

from midnight to midnight, the moon is always in gemini; last quarter moon (waning).

both benefics (nice planets that "bring good fortune") are undignified, or in signs that do not serve them; the signs are enemy territory. could you say that's a grand metaphor for RBA on paradis, or liberio on marley? perhaps. for Reiner, jupiter is in gemini (detrimented, and conjoined with mars) and venus is in virgo (fallen). both of these are mercury-ruled signs; aka that flighty little bitch of a planet with questionable loyalties. hmmmmm!!!

but saturn is pretty happy (exalted) in libra.

rising sign impulses

right away, he's one of the most diurnal 🌞 men i've ever seen. yams said in some guidebook that he drew him to look like someone "destined for great things," or something to that effect... and probably like, mere months later, he published chapter 97. so yams is a sicko who loves irony. Reiner is a golden, heroic figure until he isn't, like fuckin HELOS i guess, or apollo...

day birth limits our range to leo through capricorn, with some wiggle room in the first few degrees of aquarius; his chart ruler can be literally any option but the moon

because of his unfortunate benefics and the burden of identity, my favorites are: taurus, libra, sag, or leo rising, so he's ruled by either venus, jupiter, or the sun.

houses that feel reiner

6th house: physical labor, the body in service to someone else's interests

8th house: death, enemies (lol), inheritance (i mean come On); wealth gained through other's deaths—take it as eating the previous Armored, or his survivor's guilt re: Marcel and Bertie...

9th house: long-distance travel, leaving home, higher education

12th house: my favorite house, i am biased, but it's a house of like, sickness, loss, isolation, "self-undoing"; shit Jean has no tolerance for. suicidal blockhead behavior.

jean (1837/04/07)

first glance

the moon is always in taurus; crescent moon (waxing).

he has an aries stellium (a cluster of planets all in the same sign), which Eren doesn't—he's actually more aries than Eren, who is "secretly" very piscean. Jean's sun (exalted), mercury, venus (detriment), and pluto are all here.

for Jean, the sun is conjoined pluto within 2 degrees (makes us twinsies; i have a sun-pluto square).

he has a fixed sign t-square: taurus moon, leo mars, and aquarius neptune.

impulses

he could go either way, day or night, but my dumb ass wants them to complement each other for no damn reason

for a night chart 🌚, he can be anywhere from scorpio to aries; his ascendant ruler can be mars, jupiter, or saturn.

yams said he drew him to "look" deceitful; in the anime subs armin says Jean and eren both have "villainous" eyes, which makes me favor cap or aquarius rising.

houses that feel jean

2nd house: creature comforts, valuing security

4th house: home, both his dream of having a home in the interior and the formative significance of seeing trost attacked

6th and 8th houses for similar reasons to Reiner. re: 8th house, i think about Connie's "who'da thunk we'd be the new Levi Squad!" thnx Annie!!

11th house: humanitarianism?? like, a good sense of the big picture, very much values life

💕 synastry without birth times so far

Jean's venus is opposite Reiner's saturn: rich and dramatic, arguably negative, but i think it can be good for them because of their different conditions in each chart. Jean's venus hates being in aries, and looks across the way to libra, where it wants to be, where Reiner's saturn is. it's like Reiner can pull out Jean's ooey gooey feelings that are usually obscured by aries, or come out as just carnal aggression. saturn can be patient with all of that, and i think Reiner finds it cute. venus in aries is very fwb/didn't-know-we-were-dating; saturn in libra is more quiet and reliable, to a point—he will get so frustrated!

they both have jupiter-mars conjunctions that are sextile to one another; they're hot separately and together???? i seriously led with japanese history for picking their fake birth years, i didn't know the sky would say they are hot and have great sex. more than that, a sextile is actually... pretty chill and comfortable? they just click, it's more about being in sync, physically (mars) and philosophically (jupiter).

Jean's jupiter-mars conjunction is conjunct Reiner's sun: more cute shit, they just get each other, also Jean's mars just finds leos hot af, so you can apply to this to Jean + all the warrior leos... actually jupiter and mars are quite slow so like, most of the 104th has this, which may be why they trust Reiner so much

i'll only talk about their rising signs and the planets that rule them because otherwise we're here all day:

💛 reiner: ~10:00 ☉, 832/08/01 in liberio, marley

Libra rising ⚖️, Leo sun 🦁, Gemini moon 👯

chart ruler is: Venus ♀ in Virgo/12th house

i like Venus because it feels softer and smaller than jupiter 🥺 e.g., between the two benefics, Venus is a "personal" planet and Jupiter is "social." Jupiter has to be too many things; everyone expects everything from it, the warrior candidates and younger members of the 104th look up to Reiner, he's "Marley's shield," karina burdens him with "uniting their family" (her marleyan citizenship); but he actually isn't all that and isn't suited to it... and I think only people who really really know him, e.g. have strong bullshit meters, know that. imo gabi is getting there early on, since she tells him she can tell he's lying about something, and she and jean are both later decan aries suns...!

i clearly like giving Reiner cottagecore dreams, a small and warm life; as a boy he wanted a nuclear family, and even in the dregs of his mental health, he clung on for the warrior kids. his actual ambitions are just caring and maybe, even more ambitiously, being cared for, and I think that is true to him, not just his Marcel persona.

the 12th house is miserable!! love it there. my more nuanced explanation is it's kind of floating above it all, seeing the relativity of everything, which can feel like disillusionment or liberation or both: Paradis seriously upset his understanding of the world.

Venus doesn't like Virgo/Virgo doesn't care for Venus because there is something quite detached, sterile about Virgo. Virgo is, for Reiner, years of propaganda, habit, "warrior" versus "soldier," all watchwords and reminders at catastrophic odds with his feelings of warmth and acceptance in the 104th—those syrupy, hard-to-name Venus matters that Virgo cannot tolerate.

in Reiner's chart, Taurus, Venus' other domain, is his 8th house: another "dark" house, death and inheritance, guilt, enemies. it also.... is where Jean's moon is.

his Venus squares his Moon, which is a pretty double edged sword. there's something very needy and insecure about these two soft planets making a harsh angle, which, imo, leads Reiner to deeply unhealthy choices to win affection, approval, security—from his parents, from the nation of Marley, from Bertolt and Annie after Marcel's death, etc.

🪐 jean: ~02:00 ☽, 835/04/07 in trost, paradis

Capricorn rising 🐐, Aries sun 🐏, Taurus moon 🐂; this zodiac doesn't have any horses but his big three is all hoofed

chart ruler: Saturn ♄ in Scorpio/11th house

this seems very leader-ly to me; the 11th house is about community, the good of the whole, a humanitarian concern. also very Levi, imo.

Saturn is the diurnal malefic, so its good qualities are delayed or dampened by being in a night chart; Trost activates him.

Jean's growth from a "selfish bastard who only thinks of himself" is, astrologically, a broadening of what community/11th house matters mean to him. first, it is just himself: getting into the MPs at all costs, Saturn confused in a night chart. but then in trost, in the field, he leads for the first time: being selfish for the sake of people who trust him, using the deaths of others for his and his squad's survival. we see this again in the 57th expedition: he clearly sees his, Reiner, and Armin's role as giving up their own lives for the success of the Survey Corps. and his scope of concern gets bigger and bigger: the future of "humanity" in the walls in the uprising arc, and finally all of humanity.

also in the uprising arc, especially in the manga, I see his hesitation to kill as an 11th house morality, sure, part of humanity's charter, but I also deeply DEEPLY love the slow burn trust between Levi and his new squad: Jean kind of deputizes himself between springles and scary Levi himself. this also reminds me of Jean yapping at Armin about mutinying Erwin during the 57th expedition. it's pragmatism man!!! the will and trust of the collective is a better vote of confidence than chain of command

Saturn and Scorpio are pretty neutral to each other, but Scorpio itself is a wonderfully intense, more mature version of Mars; sorry, but it's manga Rei Hino versus 90s anime Rei Hino, with strong environmental and personal intuition. I've been a Jearmin shipper sometimes, and this is where those two boys are simpatico, imo.

Saturn opposes Jean's Aries stellium, but more exactly his Sun-Pluto conjunction. I'll just quote the astrologer Sue Tompkins here: "The Sun-Saturn type is usually a serious person, tending to take themselves very seriously and to take all that happens around them rather personally." bb

the other Saturn-ruled house in Jean's chart is Aquarius/2nd: that's that fine whiskey in the interior, baby

💞 synastry with birth times

Saturn conjoins Reiner's ascendant: even though he's ruled by a pretty miserable Venus, his 1st house is somewhat lifted by Saturn, a morning star/the daytime malefic made nicer by the sun; e.g., he sees Jean's positive Saturninan qualities before anyone else.

Reiner's moon and Jupiter-Mars conjunction are in his 9th house: the happiest parts of his life happen abroad. also, jupiter rules sag and pisces, respectively his 3rd (siblings, everyday routines) and 6th houses (embodiment, physical work and health): "playing soldier," as annie says, or playing marcel, in porco's judgment.

Jean's Jupiter-Mars conjunction is in his 8th house: enemies to lovers hell yah! see my earlier note about Jean and Leos generally (JeanPikku).

Aries (where most of Jean's chart happens) is Reiner's 7th house, aka the spouse house. Again, Jean's April DOB sets him apart from every other damn Aries in this world/their age group, meaning Annie and Eren. the other mars sign is scorpio, reiner's 2nd house; i try to say it my fic Husbandry, but RBA have their material needs met, see Paradis as a real paradise compared to Liberio'a urban lack.

Capricorn (Jean's 1H) is Reiner's 4H: home.

Jean's 7H is Cancer, ruled by the moon; his moon in Taurus trines that sexy Jupiter-Mars conjunction, e.g. looks directly into Leo.

a jeankasa note

Aquarius and Leo are opposite each other, so a lot of Jean's angles to Reiner's Leo-ness are mirrored/also apply to his feelings toward Mikasa; he really has a type, and it's fixed Suns (...armin?? porco??), the opposition that makes his t-square. but the funnier thing is Mikasa and Reiner are kind of natural enemies, mostly bc of mercury oppositions, which would probably be true with any arbitrary birth years bc mercury is rarely far from the sun. just cannot picture those two having a conversation one on one ever, their only significant interaction is mikasa throwing him onto eren

why tf did i do this

i think for my 57th expedition AU they're gonna bicker about using constellations for navigation. that's it

This is actually really difficult because Michael and Helen are very similar in a lot of ways, plus it's harder for me to differentiate the two considering I am yet to meet Helen Distortion in my relisten of TMA. So it has been awhile since I last properly saw Helen

I keep wanting to go "Michael's colours are better for Sun, and Helen's fanon colours are better for Moon" then reminding myself that that's entirely irrelevent, this is about your subway guys. Uhhhhh. UHHHHHHHHH

I'm sorry, this is so hard to answer. I keep finding reasons why Helen would be better for Ingo, then finding reasons why Helen would be better for Emmet. I don't know your blorbos well enough for this. So here's some help if you still want to choose:

- Helen generally expresses happiness over things more frequently than Michael would. She's often having a lot of fun and taking enjoyment from things

- Michael is probably louder than Helen if my memory serves me right, he laughs a lot

- Michael is more aggressive than Helen. Her whole deal is being symbolic of a fake friend, so she doesn't get much out of... stabbing... her friends

- I'm very hesitant to say this because I haven't seen Helen in awhile, but I think she's more... judgemental than Michael? I need to relisten to my wife. Again, symbolic of a fake friend, she's... unfriendly-friendly

Excuse me if that's unhelpful :sob: if I stopped thinking about your subway blorbos and had to choose someone for HW2 Sun specifically, I think I'd choose Helen, and give Michael to SB Moon. I've compared Michael to SB Moon in the past

Uh- who?

Aka a deep dive of sorts on the character formerly known as Eclipse, who I'm going to dub Pseudo-Eclipse(is there a popular new name for him?) and the stuff that followed. Spoilers for part of Security Breach Ruin

Who is Pseudo-Eclipse: Most people who have the Daycare Attendant as their favorite character(s) know who this is, but even now there's probably some fans who don't know(or, if they do, don't know the fully situation)

In Security Breach there's an arcade cabinet in the Daycare Attendant's room called Balloon World

In the game you play as Balloon Boy and try to stay floating as long as possible. The game is similar to Flappy Bird, but with a few differences. One of the important ones is the day/night cycle, with Sun and Moon in the background of their respective times of day

Another difference is the purple glitches which, if touched, lead to this weird glitchy world

If you follow the weird line of glitchy squares, eventually the trail will end and this will happen

After a few seconds of this screen(which isn't a still image, but I wanted a good shot of the "good night" messages) the arcade game crashes and you get sent back to the Daycare Attendant's room

This (sorta)character eventually became known as Eclipse to the Daycare Attendant side of the fandom(I don't know how well known it is outside of that group)

Why this interpretation: Why was he called Eclipse by most of the fandom? Why was he usually called a fusion? Some people called it something related to Sun and/or assumed he was Sun if he was infected by Glitchtrap, but those people were in the minority

Well here's a clearer look at Pseudo-Eclipse's sprite. While he has Sun's rays, his face is obviously Moon's(Sun also has a grinning sprite, but Moon's smile seems closer to it). Almost like Moon is right in front of Sun, aka

an eclipse(specifically an annular eclipse). Which would explain the odd coloring(due to the moon's lack of light to reflect and the ring of fire) and the background(the redder color of the sky mixed with the virus' purple)

So because of that, he was called Eclipse. And while it's unclear if Moon is just in front of Sun or if Pseudo-Eclipse is one (fused)entity, it's funner to imagine it as a character

Fanon: interpretations of Pseudo-Eclipse can vary wildly in design, personality, and origin. But one common personality I see is him being depicted as evil, which makes sense because of the implied connection to Glitchtrap. There's also quite a few who depict Pseudo-Eclipse as a middle ground between the two(one could argue Eclipse works in a similar way)

The way he shows up also differs depending on the universe. In works that are more similar to canon, I've seen it show up in specific lighting conditions, be a security mode, or just come from the arcade. In aus where Sun and Moon are separate beings I've seen Pseudo-Eclipse be a sibling, some other relative, or just a dude that's entirely unconnected to them. Funnily enough, I haven't seen many people depict it as an actual fusion

One trait I've seen in a lot of fan designs is him having 4 arms(I even ran a poll for it, a majority of the voters preferred 4 arms), though I did see a cool design that gave him 6 arms. This fits with his nature as a glitch/fusion/generally odd being

However, while "Eclipse" quickly became a fusion name(as well as its own character in some way pre-Ruin), some designs seemed to forget or not notice why Pseudo-Eclipse was called that in the first place. I've also seen designs that, while obviously based on the arcade glitch, take a lot of creative liberties

On the more astronomy-accurate-arcade-inaccurate side of Pseudo-Eclipse designs, I've seen a lot of people make it look more like a partial eclipse than an annular one. This fits with the Daycare Attendant's half and half design and is possibly what Steel Wool chose to do with Eclipse(though it may be a coincidence)

There's also those who make Eclipse more purple/blue? Some of the designs may be based on other types of eclipses, but aside from a possible Sun-design-Moon-color for balance reasons(astronomy accuracy be damned), I'm not sure why this is

On the other side of the coin, there's those who decided to make ocs and/or other fusions

Fan characters: Pseudo-Eclipse was able to open the door to other ideas for eclipse-based designs that weren't supposed to be the arcade glitch or your average fusion. One that I've only seen a few times is fans noticing that Pseudo-Eclipse is an annular eclipse and making a design based off of a total eclipse

Another Sun-based design is "Solar Eclipse", despite Pseudo-Eclipse already being one of those. Accuracy varies, but these tend to be on the more accurate side and I've seen ones based on annular and partial eclipses. There's also those who call the "Nice Eclipse" from The Sun and Moon Show this, despite him looking like a weird Sun most of the time

But the thing about Pseudo-Eclipse is that he mostly looks like Sun. So the idea of a Moon-based design, aka Lunar Eclipse, became a thing. These designs are usually pretty blue, probably meant to mirror Pseudo-Eclipse's orange. They usually have a nice personality, possibly because of Pseudo-Eclipse usually being depicted as evil. A popular example of this is Lunar from The Sun and Moon Show

These designs are nice, but most of them are in a similar boat to several fan designs for Pseudo-Eclipse. Because while lunar eclipses do exist, this isn't an "astronomy accurate" design. Though in my experience, some people will probably be more familiar with another name for a lunar eclipse

aka, a blood moon. Which is also the name of some fan characters, though the most popular one is probably from The Sun And Moon Show

Despite both being lunar eclipses, Blood Moon and Lunar Eclipse don't seem to have any connection beyond them both working/having worked with SAMS-Eclipse

Ruin(ed) tags: When the ruin dlc came out, Daycare Attendant fans were blessed with a canon Eclipse(who is a wonderful character, but not the topic of this post)

But all good things come at a cost and this is no exception. While Eclipse is the main one showing up in search results and tags, Pseudo-Eclipse still appears a lot. On top of that, as of now there's no real way to search for(or stop seeing) Pseudo-Eclipse content and without any pictures it can be hard to tell which one a person is talking about(I don't know how ao3 users are doing, but I imagine it's a similar story over there)

"Glitch Sun" seems to be one people like(use of this name goes back to 2022), but while it may be getting more popular it's not nearly as well known as "Eclipse. It also assumes that Pseudo-Eclipse is Sun, which a lot of people disagree with. This interpretation may get more popular thanks to Ruin, but it doesn't really work for those who still view Pseudo-Eclipse as a eclipse and don't want to call it a sun

I've also seen tags used for specific au versions of Pseudo-Eclipse and The Sun And Moon Show. While designs vary, several are accurate or inaccurate enough for a lot of fans. However, these are specific characterizations of him with specific origins. Not to mention the specific settings and lore. However, too many of these would defeat the purpose of using specific tags to filter stuff out

One fan name I've seen suggested is referring to Eclipse as a lunar eclipse and Pseudo-Eclipse as a solar eclipse. But they're both obviously solar eclipses or at least solar eclipse adjacent. Also, it would just turn into "which Lunar are they talking about" for those who post about Lunar Eclipse

Ruin: While fans love Eclipse(and hopefully Steel Wool will give it more attention), that doesn't mean they're done with Pseudo-Eclipse. And neither is the game

As I mentioned in a previous post, while the arcade game is broken and unplayable in Ruin, if you look up in the room and wait a few seconds while wearing the rabbit mask

it's still there. So, that begs the question of who this is. While we know that he's connected to Glitchtrap/the Mimic's virus and is most likely not a sun, there's not a lot to work with

But at the end of the day, he's just a neat little easter egg character that fans grew attached to. It may not have a major place in the lore, but he still left a big impact

Various Sailor Moon fan design things (not in chronological order).

The big sheet 'o fanon form concepts was born out of some sprite edits I'd done recently: y'see, I wasn't satisfied with my first pass at the "Ultra" forms and tested something out on those sprite edits (using Sailor V's armour as a basis instead of that one proto-Moon sketch). Then I thought about what other forms I could make for everyone, getting as far as "Speed" and the basic idea for "Aqua" before I needed to draw them.

In addition to all the new stuff, "Mystic" and "Defender" got redesigned, too (mostly just putting the bow back on Mystic). Other notes:

"Elemental" is a simplified form of the early Sera Myu costumes; the name (and its attachment to Myu) came from AmethystSadachbia's AU.

"Blue Shift" has the distinction of being completely uniform (even Moon and Chibi Moon would have the same outfits), with only the brooch and tiara gem reflecting the wearer's normal planet colour. Largely inspired by cheerleader uniforms.

Everyone wears shorts in their "Gravity" form; the coats are about the same length as Mystic.

"Omni" is similar to what I was gonna have everyone's Cosmic form look like; more on that later.

"Aqua" is probably the most situational out of all of these; maybe it would see use on a planet that's 99% ocean?

Other stuff:

Redesigned Sailor Charon/Celia Spiros; her new hairstyle is modeled after a character (Monaka) from another Naoko Takeuchi work, "Toki Meca".

After going to the trouble of adjusting Naru-as-Sailor-Earth's colours... I ended up dropping this element from my AU entirely in favour of just elevating Mamoru to "Sailor Earth" (and Helios to Sailor Sun). :U But I didn't want the concept of an empowered Naru to go to waste, so now she's a pseudo-Guardian who uses Usagi's Disguise Pen to transform and takes the alias "Sailor Comet". (It's a common fan-Senshi name, but realistically not something that could spawn a Sailor Crystal.)

Omni Form Sailor Moon, the "good future" alternative to Sailor Cosmos--or, "I had to write around using the Classic anime as a basis for my AU". (Chibi Chibi will become Sailor Cosmos eventually, but because she's Galaxia's disembodied Sailor Crystal/daughter by technicality, she's not going to look like canon Cosmos) Uses Cosmos as a basis, with elements from manga!NQS.

In a similar vein to the question another anon posted recently, what are your theories on what the Sundrop and moonstone are? Apart from the obvious symbolism where did they even come from? It's kept blurry in the movie and series, but other people have interpreted them as artifacts of Sun/Moon deities. I'm personally not a fan of this, maybe because the wild and mysterious magic is lost in a way. (there's something to be said about two halves of one (power) and Raps and Cass, but that's getting into fanon territory...)

Also, a plot hole that's been bothering me: how did Frederick even find out about the Sundrop in the first place? The movie implies that it was a legend, but that's kept vague. (and gothel really needs a better magical-flower disguise than a plastic bush)

Now we're getting into territory that frustrates me. lol Because the series departs so far from the movie that I don't really have an answer. In the movie, the Sundrop was just... a fairytale vehicle, you know? "Once upon a time, this magical event occurred." And that was it. It was just a magical event so that the story could happen.

In "Lost and Found", Demanitus tells us that the combined Sundrop and Moonstone were "an ancient power" that was divided in two. That doesn't imply that they're divine artifacts to me, but a singularity that was somehow split (for whatever mysterious reason).

I honestly haven't put a lot of thought into it, because I don't... entirely like it. As I said at the start, it's a departure from the movie. moving firmly into AU territory.

The movie implied that magic was rare. So rare, in fact, that most people don't think it's real. Eugene freaked out when he saw real magic in action. Then the series goes and says that he spent all this time out in the world where you run into magic by tripping on rocks. That mermaids and fae folk are real, that there are forests that rearrange themselves, that there's a counterpart to the Sundrop that's a huge danger to the world.

What you describe is not a plot hole. It's exactly what you said it was: a legend. There was a legend of a magic golden flower that could heal the sick, and it was Frederic's last hope, so he sent everyone out looking for it. Vagueness doesn't make it a plot hole.

And did you seriously just say that Gothel's basket was plastic? What the heck, my dude. XD It's, like, wicker or something, and she regularly covers it in fresh leaves, and it literally worked for her for centuries, so in what way does it need to be "better"? What would you recommend instead, a tower?

The Mellanoid Planetary System -- Home of the "Mellanoid Slime Worms”

(Star Trek fanon worldbuilding)

The Mellanoid-Sun is a G8V Main Sequence Star a little cooler, less luminous, and more metallic than The Sun (Sol).

Orbiting close to the sun is Class-T hot Neptunian world, Cool Ember, which is so close to the Sun it is rarely seen except during afternoon, morning, and twilight. When seen through a telescope, it is sometimes blue and sometimes red, depending the orientation of its bright face. The sun-facing side is blue due to rayleigh scattering in its cloudless atmosphere and the night side is glowing a dull red due to heat from within the planet.

Very analogous to Mercury and the Inner Bajoran Planets is the Class-D planet Rabbit, a tidally locked cratered world. The far side is covered in ice. Its fast orbit has given it the name that could be vaguely translated as “Rabbit” (a sort of quick herbivorous vertebrate).

Rabbit is the largest member of an asteroid belt that extends out from Cool Ember to just under Omen’s orbit.

Beyond the inner planets is Omen. It is a “Class-J” gas giant of 2 Jupiter Masses which formed in the outer solar system and migrated inwards, disrupting the existing planet-forming disk. It has four substantial moons and about 15 minor satellites. It exists within the habitable zone, and its satellite planets are quite diverse. Rival is the innermost satellite planet, Class H and volcanic, followed by Lake, a Class O pelagic world, Spark, an airless Class D moonlike world, and Oldsky, a Class M habitable satellite planet.

Omen and Oldsky are also known in the Federation by their Zaldan names, Rarchilk and Ragdus, as prior to joining the Federation, the Zaldan Military operated an outpost and research station on Ragdus. Mellanoids sometimes refer to Oldsky as Ragdus, but they ALWAYS refer to Omen by that word.

Omen has a few asteroidal coorbital companions, but not very many, as the trojan population has been destabilized by a very large coorbital...

Omen’s largest coorbital companion is Mellanus, the M-class homeworld of Mellanoid Slimes (Such as Murph Prodigy & Eaurp Guz). Mellanus is very similar in radius to Earth, but it’s slightly less massive and lacks any major satellites. It does have two small asteroid satellites.

Mellanus’s shallowest oceans are covered in a thin layer of slime--but it’s enough that it actually makes up the majority of the planet’s biomass. Its forests and deserts are a little more conventional, with slime life uncommon in the deserts except for Mellanoid Slime People and reasonably common but not dominating in the forests.

Mellanus had its first contact with aliens in the 2320s or 2330s, via the Zaldans. Mellanus’ Fed-standard name comes from the Zaldans. When they Zaldans joined the Federation, they cut contact with Mellanus as they were pre-warp, and abandoned their outpost on Ragdus.

Mellanus invented their own warp drive in the 2360s, and were fast-tracked into the Federation for political reasons during the Dominion War, as it was feared they might otherwise be manipulated by the changelings.

Mellanus has successfully lobbied to resist Starfleet interference in their space affairs, and, with nuclear fission, chemical propulsion, and rudimentary impulse and warp drives, are focusing on exploring their own solar system before they “let starfleet have their fun.”

Mellanus is in a Horseshoe Orbit of Omen. Roughly every 18 Mellanus years, it makes a close approach to Omen in its orbit. Omen’s gravity pulls it into a higher orbit, then 18 years later they meet on the other side, and Omen’s gravity pulls it into a lower orbit. Omen got its name as, when it begins to get very large in the sky, it its a portent of a changing seasonal arrangement. In the low orbit, summers may be harsh and winters mild, and in the high orbit, summers mild and winters bitter.

Omen creates another season cycle as well, that of interest in astronomy and space exploration. For the whole time the Space Program has existed, every 18 years at each close approach of Omen, people are more and more willing to support the Space Program as it is a quite striking and visible reminder of how much space affects life on Mellanus.

Beyond Omen is a substantial gap where a few unstable asteroids orbit, analogous to the trojans of our solar system. Beyond that is Glerbuh, a proper name for an ancient deity of Time.

Glerbuh is a Class-J super-jupiter of about 4 Mj, with 13 small icy worlds (most either P-class or D-class), and over a hundred irregular captured satellites! With a telescope, if you carefully blot out the light of the planet itself, you will see a faint nebulousity surrounding the planet. This was first identified by an astronomer who was so skilled at shapeshifting they could manipulate their eyes into achromatic telescopes, and thus easily work with internal obstructions near the focal plane. (Mellanoid Slime Astronomers on a budget may dissolve their eye lenses or figure their eye lenses manually rather than use real eyepieces, but this approach has limitations). The cause of the nebulosity was suspected in the photographic era but it wasn't until early space probe missions that the cause was definitely determined: Almost all of Glerbuh's innermost rounded moons are cryovolcanically active, including a pair of horseshoe coorbitals, and they are spewing water ice from their internal oceans into space. This is potentially one of the most interesting and unique astrobiological environments--a system of moons swapping ice, water, and maybe even microbes, and would be worthy of exploration by Starfleet, except that Mellanus demands to continue its own space program.

Beyond Glerbuh are five ice giants. Four of them were known to Mellanoids prior to Federation membership, the other one was discovered using subspace sensors and orbits extremely far out, but is the most massive of them. They are 7, 11, 14, 5, and 18 Earth Masses respectively, and each have moon systems worthy of study. Only Two of the ice giants have yet been visited by robotic spacecraft, the first and third one. (The first was explored by a dedicated mission, the third one was a third flyby in an Omen-Glerbuh-Eauauh flyby chain) minor planets, comets, and full size planets are by convention named for their discoverer*, so the ice giants are named:

Eauauh

Flibul

Schmidt (named for Captain Schmidt of the U.S.S. Courage, who first reported the planet--though it's probable the Zaldans knew of it first and never mentioned it in their pre-federation dealings with the Mellanoids.)

*When Glarpi was discovered, it was originally named Slarmock's Star, after an emperor. Needless to say, astronomers from other mellanoid nations of the time didn't take well to this name, and called it such things as the Demon Star, the Fool Star, or just, The Sixth Planet. Eventually it was referred to as Glarpi's Planet, or just Glarpi, and that was how it was. When someone discovers more than one object, it can either be given a name followed by a number, or the second object can be named after a friend of the discoverer, with certain rules established by the Mellanoid Astronomical Nomenclature Office regarding not naming it after politicians or especially controversial figures.

(Deep out in the far reaches of the Mellanus star system, where no spacecraft or starship have ever been, lies Schmitt, the last and heaviest ice giant. It was picked up on subspace sensors and later recovered by Mellanoid Astronomers using an orbiting space telescope. Nothing is known about it aside from its pinkish color and the fact that it has a very substantial moon for its size.)

If there’s one thing that I’ll never understand about some Zutara shippers is the need they have to show Zuko and Katara’s dynamic with each other, as well as their personalities, as literally anything except what it actually is.

They say shit like “Opposites attract” because of the whole Sun/Moon, Fire/Water thing, and completely ignore that Zuko and Katara are actually very similar when it comes to their personalities, temperament and regarding their emotiosn - both wear their hearts on their sleeves. “Symbolism” that completely disregards the characters that are supposedly being represented by it doesn’t actually symbolize anything.

There’s also stuff like acting like Katara was constantly forced by the rest of the Gaang to do everything by herself, never got thanked for it, and that kind, loving, Karl Zuko Marx showed up one day and helped her revolt, even though we see Katara fighting back whenever she feels disrespected in any way, Sokka literally has a schedule of the chores ALL OF THEM have, and the whole “Zuko is the only one who actually helps her” bullshit comes from the fact that he served everyone tea twice because he wanted to be nice to his friends and spent sometime having a job that he EXPLICITLY did not like and immediatelly dropped the second he had the chance to.

You also see people claiming they had such a strong connection even before Zuko joined the Gaang, and always secretly cared for each other, even though Katara was willing to leave him to die in the North Pole, explicitly told him that for a long time she saw his face as the face of the enemy, threatened him after she DID start seeing him as more than just the enemy only to immediately be betrayed by him, and the only person in the Gaang that we see Zuko ever thinking about before his redemption is Aang (aka the actual first person to trust Zuko and give him a chance - the show fucked up big time by adding the ascended fanon of “Katara always knew there was good iin him”). They genuinely disliked each other and eventually developed a good friendship, which some people could want to see become more - why is that seen as less valid than “There was ALWAYS something there”?

We can also not forget how they tend to make Katara a typical doormat romantic lead that just lets the “sexy bad boy” get away with everything and is always trying to fix him, even though that is just not who she is at all - and as a bonus, that is also not at all the kind of girl Zuko is attracted to.

And finally we have the Southern Raiders. The episode that had Zuko’s entitlement rearing it’s ugly head, making him be frustrated and confused at the fact that Katara doesn’t like him despite having every reason to feel that way, using her trauma as a way to deal with that inconvenience only to then feel genuine empathy for her and even respect for her deceased mother, which leads to Katara forgiving him - while they both see that, while Aang was wrong to assume that she HAD to forgive her mother’s killer to be able to heal, he was right when he said violence wouldn’t fix things, even though the guy deserved it. This amazing, complicated, genuinely compelling episode centered around these two amazing characters, as well as the theme of struggling to process grieft, trauma, and the ugly side of it, get watered down to being about how heartless, selfish Aang didn’t care about Katara’s emotional needs, and how Zuko is totally the superior choice in this love triangle that is pure fanon that was only ever even sort of recognized (JOKINGLY) in canon because the non-canon ship ended up becoming super popular.

Somebody PLEASE tell me what is the point of claiming to ship Zutara when what these people actually ship are two OCs that have nearly nothing to do with the real Zuko and Katara?

MERRY CRIMUS TO EVERYONE WHO CELEBRATES IT AND HAPPY WHATEVER HOLIDAY YOU CELEBRATE AS WELL WHETHER IT HAS ALREADY OCCURRED OR WILL SOON OCCUR!

I need to share a TADC theory with anyone who sees this because I am so close to exploding.

Here on tumblr, there have been interpretations of a “fanon” character, Abel. This character was brought to the world through two things:

1. People like imagining characters for this show.

I do not need to tell you how popular TADC is, currently at over 200 MILLION VIEWS. It’s popular. And of course that means personas and ocs, and in The Amazing Digital Circus, where you can be anything (as long as it’s family friendly), people are gonna make characters.

2. The story of Cain and Abel

The story of Cain and Abel was theorized to parallel Caine, so people made a character to fit the Abel role.

Before we go on, I must explain one thing;

Names have relevance to the characters in the show.

Many are aware that Pomni sounds a lot like the Russian word for remember, tying in with her main goal to leave The Amazing Digital Circus,

Ragatha is most likely a mix of raggedy and Agatha because her design is based off of Raggedy Ann dolls,

Jax is probably and squished version of jackass (finally the letter x has a use) because he’s rude,

Kinger and Queenie are both chess pieces who are named after the piece they look like,

The word gangle can be a synonym for lanky which fits because Gangle’s body is made up of ribbon,

Bubble is a bubble,

I’m not too sure about what Zooble represents but it does perfectly capture what they look like in a name - EDIT: So apparently Zooble is named after these toys called Zoobs where you build you own little thing out of them but I don’t know them too well this is new info BACK TO THE REGULAR PROGRAM-

And of course, we must discuss Caine’s name.

@chronicbeans made a different theory about Caine’s name that doesn’t tie into this one, but it’s good so go check it out! It brings up some really interesting points.

But there is also another meaning for the ringmaster’s name, and for that we have to look at a specific story from the Bible, the story of Cain and Abel.

From my very brief “research” (if it can even be considered research) the story is about the brothers Cain and Abel. Cain was the eldest and from what I can tell a farmer, and Abel was the youngest and most likely a shepherd. The story goes that they both made sacrifices to god, but only Abel’s was accepted. Out of frustration and jealousy, Cain kills Abel, committing the first murder. The sacrifice part of the story most likely parallels Caine doing his best and living to make sure that the humans don’t go insane, and failing.

Caine is similar to the name Cain, and because the connection was made early on in the fandom, people wondered if there would be an Abel character, and after a while people made their own interpretations, whether they be named Abel or not. And honestly it’s cool to see the creativity the people here have!

But, based on my theory, we already have an Abel character.

The MOUNTAINS of text I just put you through was just to prime you for my main theory, MY interpretation of how this is gonna play out. MY MAIN THEORY:

Bubble, the ai assistant to Caine, IS ABEL.

Bubble is probably the closest to Caine since the humans don’t like him, the moon is frisky, and we have no idea of what the sun is like. He is the one who cleans for Caine, hangs out with him, and is always nearby to help him, making Bubble the closest thing Caine has to a (I’m pretty sure Goose herself has stated that Bubble’s pronouns are he/him so correct me if I’m wrong) brother.

While I did my quick search, a line in the story caught my attention. Because I’m too lazy to find it again, the main idea was that either Cain or god asked a rhetorical about if Abel was his to care for. The answer was yes. It was pointed out how it was rhetorical and I can’t remember the rest BUT IT’S NOT IMPORTANT. Bubble is obviously a lesser ai, so Caine would obviously have to care for him much like Cain should’ve cared for Abel.

Remember how I brought up how names are at least somewhat important? Say Bubble out loud or in you head, then say Abel. They have the SAME amount of syllables, a similar sound that is more pronounced (I don’t know the proper term), making them sound very similar. That is actually what tipped me off to this being a possibility. It might be a stretch, but it seems plausible to me.

There has been some information going around about how Pomni represents Christ and all that (the main piece of evidence is how the last scene of the episode represents the last supper) (from what I’ve seen) (that is also maybe where the Cain and Abel theory happened but I’m not too sure) and I’m gonna go with it for this theory even if it’s bogus.

If Pomni represents Christ (aka God) then that means Caine is gonna try to please her with adventures (his sacrifice), but she won’t be pleased. Then Bubble comes in. We haven’t seen much of Bubble, but based on my theory Pomni (and the audience) will warm up to him and he will keep her sane (his sacrifice). And based on the story,

Caine will become jealous.

We’ve already seen how even though Caine CAN stand Bubble, it’s in the same way an older sibling tries to be around an annoying, younger sibling. Caine is often embarrassed and annoyed by Bubble in the pilot, and we truly don’t know how much Caine even likes Bubble, but Bubble is ALL Caine truly has.

But what if Caine grew jealous? What is Bubble became something that brought true joy to the cast? Made them more sane? That is Caine’s job, what he was LITERALLY MADE FOR. He’d resent Bubble, and maybe in a fit of anger, he pops Bubble, but it does MORE than just pop him. He is deleted, the first true deletion. The first murder. Whether he did it on purpose or not is up to you. Or maybe it’s never stated. One thing is for sure:

Pomni at the very least, who bonded with Bubble, is upset at Caine for getting rid of him forever. Caine will probably feel remorse and will help the humans escape The Amazing Digital Circus, saving the humans but leaving Caine behind. His punishment.

In the original story, Cain is left with nothing and can only walk along the Earth he once used. What will happen to Caine in TADC will be similar, stuck on a digital plain, wandering, with nothing.

Of course, this is all my own personal theory, and this could be completely wrong! But I just wanted to share this because it feels like I’m the only one who thought of this.

So my question is about the sexual orientation of the Cullens, do you think they all straight?

In short, no.

In alphabetical order:

Alice is with a man, but without getting into the mess that is Alice/Jasper here, I don’t think theirs is a particularly physical relationship. I mean, if Alice wanted to get laid, she could just decide to fuck Jasper, enjoy the vision, and bam. Itch scratched. Thanks, Jazz. Alright, I’ll be serious. Alice and Jasper are with each other because the other represents salvation, not so much because of a personal or physical attraction but because of mysticism. So to me that doesn’t really say much about Alice’s preference. All the same I can’t see Alice having a particular preference, she’s too... Alice. Although it is easier to picture her with women. She is also the second half of the Alice/Bella homoerotic extravaganza, which makes heterosexual Alice even more farfetched to me. So, bisexual or lesbian Alice.

Bella shows clear attraction to women as well as men. She’s attracted to Rosalie, Alice, Edward, and Carlisle. I’ll just give you guys quotes: Of the three boys, one was big — muscled like a serious weight lifter, with dark, curly hair. Another was taller, leaner, but still muscular, and honey blond. The last was lanky, less bulky, with untidy, bronze-colored hair. He was more boyish than the others, who looked like they could be in college, or even teachers here rather than students. The girls were opposites. The tall one was statuesque. She had a beautiful figure, the kind you saw on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, the kind that made every girl around her take a hit on her self-esteem just by being in the same room. Her hair was golden, gently waving to the middle of her back. The short girl was pixielike, thin in the extreme, with small features. Her hair was a deep black, cropped short and pointing in every direction. (Twilight, page 9) This is the Cullens’ introduction. I won’t spend much time on it, just notice the difference between Rosalie and the others. Rosalie is highlighted in a way Alice is not, and Edward is at first glance only the boyish one of the guys. Rosalie was the Cullen whose beauty immediately stood out to Bella. It was hard to decide who was the most beautiful — maybe the perfect blond girl, or the bronze-haired boy. (sic.) Bella has realized by now that Edward’s a grade A hottie, but she’s still torn between him and Rosalie. Bella then gets to know Alice, and they become friends who take showers together(!). Rosalie may be the most attractive Cullen woman, but Alice is the one Bella gets emotionally close to. We get this in New Moon: UNNATURALLY STILL AND WHITE, WITH LARGE BLACK EYES intent on my face, my visitor waited perfectly motionless in the center of the halt, beautiful beyond imagining. (...) I locked my arms around her, gasping to inhale as much of the scent of her skin as possible. It wasn't like anything else—not floral or spice, citrus or musk. No perfume in the world could compare. My memory hadn't done it justice. (New Moon, page 191) Bella never thought she’d never see any of the Cullens again, so for her to be hysterical and ecstatic upon seeing her second favorite is not by itself damning. I’m sure she’d be ecstatic to see Emmett too. It’s that fact that she’d missed Alice’s scent that’s interesting. The scent of her skin was something Bella was aware of before they parted. And while it may be tempting to say “it’s because they’re vampires, Bella’s admiring them like she would a work of art!”, Bella never dwells on Esme, Jasper, or Emmett in this way. Jasper and Emmett especially are not admired beyond the introduction of their characters. We never hear about what any of them smell like, nor does Bella remark upon their beauty after waking up a vampire. Carlisle and Edward, by comparison, are men she keeps noticing. Bella finds Carlisle blindingly beautiful when she first sees him as a vampire, and there’s this from New Moon: Though it erased the sting, it reminded me of the gash, and I watched Carlisle's face carefully to distract me from what his hands were doing. His hair gleamed gold in the bright light as he bent over my arm. (New Moon, page 18) There’s thinking someone is pretty, and then there’s gazing lovingly upon their face instead of pain killers. Bella is bisexual.

Carlisle moved in with a very gay man, had a close relationship with him, lived with him for the sake of his company for decades, and only left because of dietary differences. We don’t know for sure whether they actually had an affair or not, but the fact remains that of all the Cullens, Carlisle is the one who is implied to have had a homosexual relationship in canon. He loses his straight card based on that alone. Also gonna link this clip, because I’m Mac listening to Edward talk about how young Carlisle lived with this sexy Mycenaean Greek for a few decades when he was young. Aro is all the santas. Carlisle is bisexual.

Edward... oh boy. His brain is supposedly seventeen, and yet this very interesting thing happens in his relationship with Bella where he never notices her body. Not ever. By body I mean curves. Edward notices Bella’s skin, her frailty, her humanity. He praises her blushes, her doe-like eyes, her warmth, her softness, her swan-like neck, her delicious scent. The feminine aesthetic. He does not once notice her tits. The only tits he is on record noticing belong to Siobhan, and it’s because she has an impossible to ignore rack: She was profoundly female in shape—aggressively, forcefully female. (Midnight Sun, chapter Probability) It’s one thing for him to be old-fashioned and too quintessentially Edward to even think the word “boob”, but in 700+ pages of Midnight Sun there’s just this absence of this seventeen-year-old noticing her curves. More damningly, when seeing Alice’s vision of vampire!Bella, Edward is horrified at the sight of his love cold and hard. He doesn’t describe vampire!Bella by any of the positives, like “flawless”. Edward is attracted to the human, not the woman. What that means for his sexuality... well, I’m going to go ahead and point out that he is very weird about Carlisle, and it’s damning that the personality he projects onto Bella is so similar to Carlisle. I hesitate to apply a label here, but in my own, personal, headcanon we’re veering towards homosexual. Deeeeeeply closeted homosexual.

Emmett is straight. Straightest guy ever to straight.

Esme is pretty clearly taken with Carlisle. Though if she were to feel attracted towards another woman, I imagine she’d have no idea what to make of that, if she even recognized it for what it was. She’s from a very different time and still living in that time, and she continues to be very sheltered. Still, as per my personal headcanon, I see her as straight.

Jasper, who knows. Though if he’s into guys, he has probably gone for it in the past. I suppose I should write a meta on vampires and sexual norms in general, but in short I don’t think they all live monogamously like the Cullens. STDs and pregnancies are unheard of, as is social ostracizing. Vampires are hedonistic, Twilight vampires more so than any other. Which in turn means I don’t think Maria and Jasper were monogamous. A couple, sure, but I don’t think Maria would say “oh noes, I can’t, I’m with Jasper!” if someone she was attracted to made an overture, and same goes for Jasper. So, if Jasper was into guys, then sure. I can see Jasper/Peter happening, or even Charlotte/Jasper/Peter. Jasper is certainly into women, with the possibility of guys as well. And if so, then it’s probably happened.

Rosalie I’m shocked is with a guy in the first place, everything about her screams lesbian. However, she’s clearly into Emmett, so apparently she’s bisexual.

(I’m not including Renesmée in this, since she’s three months old by the time the series conclude.)

This all being said, several of these people are from very different times and wouldn’t have the same concepts of sexuality internalized as we do, so how they’d identify is a very different matter.

When she sun sets and the moon pokes into the sky, the starry glimmer comes from the windows of Phantom Nightclub and Puppet Express, on business and ready to own this night!

Meet these two extraordinary birds, The Trainjumper and DJ Boogieman!

These are fusion designs I created for no reason at all… but thanks to friends giving me ideas during Discord voicechats, I kind of want to make this an AU…?

Below, the first doodles I made of them and a rough idea of what their personality could be.

The Trainjumper is a fusion between The Conductor and The Moonjumper (a cut character that was supposed to be the main antagonist of Subcon Forest). He conducts the Puppet Express, a train able to go in the sky thanks to magic ghost trails. His personality is an even blend between fanon Moonjumper and canon Conductor. He has Conductor’s voice and Scottish accent, but it's also usually way calmer than Conductor's. His demeanour is slow and placid; his speech feels like melodic prose. However, he has a short temper, and his mellowness easily melts away for raspy anger. And if you happen to piss him off even a little, you are in danger. So, by any means should you have him on your side; it's for the best that his powers are used with you and not against you. (May it be precised he is genuinely trying to be calm with you; he just can't help his uncontrollable anger and it makes him horribly murderous... and he means it too.) He can use fire spirit powers (because of my headcanon, even if Trainjumper's fire spirit is weaker than Conductor's because of the fusion), use puppetry using little train tracks as strings, control flying knives, and more to come.

DJ Boogieman is a fusion between DJ Grooves and The Snatcher. (Credits to @mysteryman-17 for the idea and name!) He owns the Phantom Nightclub, where take place dance nights, music nights, contests, etc. Boogieman's personality is a complement of both sides of Grooves and Snatcher. Indeed, at first glance, he feels a lot like Grooves: he is nice, greets you like a friend, invites you to parties, to contests, etc. Of course he still has contracts, but they are more casual than Snatcher's. However, hidden under that "party guy" facade (even though we could say Grooves too has a mask, Boogieman is even more hypocrite), there is a soul-thirsty, cruel, heartless ghost who only wishes to eat more and more innocent souls... turns out the next "party helper" who was not chosen as a finalist for his contest... is you. Whoops! He can use many powers; most of them are similar with Snatcher's ones, but they have a disco aesthetic (disco balls with sound-waves, music lasers, ...).

For now that's what I have! If enough people are interested by this AU, I can work on ideas for these birds' minions, the levels that will take place in their chapter, the boss battles, etc.
