Yuu and the Magical Power of Songs

Yuu Singer, Pomefiore (I Put a Spell on You)

Things were ant-colored.

Since Yuu has weird dreams he takes them as premonitions.

His most recent dream let her know that the Overblot de Vil was about to happen.

On the day of the VDC/SDC everything seemed normal, even Epel was super motivated. But then it all went down the tubes when the Royal Sword Academy held their practice.

Yuu watched as Vil's eyes lost their shine and became vacant before turning elsewhere.

Jamil, Kalim and Rook also realized what was going to happen. So they took the reins. When Ace, Deuce, Epel went for snacks, Jamil told Yuu to go with them and if he found Ruggie to stay with him.

Yuu didn't want to go and leave Kalim and Jamil alone, but Jamil was very convincing.

After some time with his friends, Yuu saw Ruggie.

The hyena beast boy noticed the white-haired man's concern and asked him what was wrong.

Before Yuu could reply, a ruckus broke out as Neige Leblanche arrived.

Using the neuron that sometimes worked, Grim asked his "minion" if he noticed anything strange in Neige's eyes.

Yuu saw it, it was Jamil's magic. Which meant that Negie was only here as a distraction.

Concerned Ruggie asked again what was wrong. Yuu looked at the stadium, noticing a nearly invisible purple magic dome.

Yuu told the boys to go to the stadium, that he would catch up with them later.

They understood the situation and when they left he summarized things for Ruggie. Beast boy looked at Yuu seriously. "Leona is sleeping, what do you need me to do?" Yuu smiled and hugged him. "Go with the flow." He said the white haired one before calling Crowley.

Crowley was very worried.

They may say that he is lazy or negligent with his work as NRC director, but he cares deeply for his students.

As one of the most powerful magicians on the "Island of the Sages" he can sense the disturbances in the magic of the place; not at the level of a fae, but he's still enough to feel an Overblot unleashed.

As he ponders how to fix the problem without alerting everyone on campus, he receives a call. "Yuu?" He wonders looking at his cell phone before answering. "Yuu, what…?" "No time to explain, I need access to the island-wide public address system." Yuu said interrupting Dire.

Yuu knew that Neige wouldn't be distracting enough, so he thought of hypnotizing everyone. Not only those present on campus but also the island in general so that nothing was leaked to the media.

Crowley wanted to ask what crazy thing his favorite student was going to do, but now there was no time. "Ok~ Explain to me later." He said before ending the call and sending Yuu the access link and password.

Ruggie couldn't believe Crowley gave that to Yuu and when she asked how he did it, Yuu smiled mischievously. "Privileges of the voice of the gods".

Yuu quickly accessed the system, but for the song he was going to use he required another person. He looked around and saw Azul at a vegan burger stand. "Azul!". He called the silver-haired Yuu.

Azul looked at Yuu and blushed because they found him eating, but before he could say anything Yuu grabbed his arm. "There is no time to explain or eat; I need your help." Azul looked at Ruggie, the beast boy shrugs.

After a while, they reach Main Street; the place is empty. "Okay, trust me." Yu tells Ruggie and Azul. The second years look at each other and then nod at Yuu.

They completely trust him.

Yuu smiled determinedly and activated the PA system…

~I put a spell on you~

~And now you're mine~

Yuu's voice was an eerie whisper. Yuu was very much against using her gift to control people, but it was an emergency and what better way to do it than with a super iconic song.

You can't stop the things I do~

I ain't lyin' ~

Ruggie and Azul couldn't believe their ears; the song that Yuu sang was a Halloween urban legend. They at that moment felt their magic increase, as if they were absorbing the magic of others to make them more susceptible to mind control.

It's been three hundred years~

Right down to the day~

Every being on the island or who could hear the speakers suddenly went blank. Yuu had in mind that those who were busy doing some work would do it robotically so they wouldn't get hurt.

Now the witch is back~

Yuu snapped his fingers creating a dome of colors over the entire island; The boy was surprised that he could create it, it was one of the biggest things he has created using the magic around him. Azul and Ruggie couldn't help but smile in amazement. "He has come a long way; I must give him a raise in his work." He thought the one with glasses. "How handsome and." The hyena boy thought; Yuu looked at him and winked causing a blush.

And there's hell to pay~

Negie was one of the last on the NRC campus to fall under hypnosis. He did not understand what was happening, but he knew that he was not in danger; a voice said over and over again that he trust. It might always be something innocent and witty, but he knew that that voice wasn't lying.

I put a spell on you~

And now you're mine~!

Yuu motioned for Ruggie and Azul to follow him. The three of them walked swaying their hips and mischievous smiles; in a way Yuu looked like he was the absolute master of the place. The song itself made him feel that way, but Yuu wasn't seduced by the power. His teacher taught him that many songs had the emotions of the original person who sang them; "I put spell on you" was made by Winifred to control Salem, so the song itself caused you to seek power. That was the reason why Yuu looked for trustworthy people, they helped keep his feet on the ground.

Hello Night Raven College

My name´s Yuu Ross!

What´s yours?

Each being fell under the enchantment of the voice of the gods, they danced and moved to the rhythm of the song. However, there is a being that was not entirely under that control. A certain fae was unaware of anything as he strolled through the forest in a state of bliss. He had been invited to an event by Yuu, he couldn't handle his happiness.

I put a spell on you~

And now you're gone~

Gone~, gone~, gone~, so long~! Azul and Ruggie sang with mocking gestures of distance.

My whammy fell on you~

And it was strong~

So strong~, so strong~, so strong~! "This power is intoxicating." Azul and Ruggie thought as they felt more power than they had in their core.

"Ok, more concentration." Yuu thought as he felt the slight attempts of the song to corrupt him and his choir accompanists. Yuu caused magic to swirl in his heart and turn him into a purifying light that drove away the whispers of the song's original composer.

Your wretched little lives~

Have all been cursed~

'Cause of all the witches working~

I'm the worst~

Yuu looked at the coliseum and the dome formed by Vil's overblot magic. The young man hoped that his gift had put everything on pause there. And certainly, as Yuu wanted, the VDC group from Night Raven College did not budge. The only one of that group who noticed that was Vil, who in his unstable mental state was screaming for not being able to move.

And now you're mine~

The magic also added a few things to Yuu, Ruggie and Azul's wardrobe. Yuu, who was already wearing a white lace shirt and black pants and boots, got a purple corset over his shirt and a forest green tunic decorated with Celtic symbols and diamonds. Ruggie, who was wearing a PE tracksuit, got a short-sleeved pastel pink tunic and long gloves with floral designs. As for Azul who wore the dormitory leader uniform she got a complete outfit; His jacket lengthened into a skirt and turned red, his hat changed to a black veil edged in gold, and his shoes changed to brown boots.

Azul and Ruggie stomped viciously through the mesmerized getting carried away with the fun moment... Azul saw Jade and Floyd in the crowd, he walked towards them; he planted a kiss on Jade's nose and one on the Floyd´s cheek. Ruggie saw Leona asleep as his tail swayed to the music; he took a soda from a food stall and poured it on the lion… Maybe he will die later, but it would be worth it.

"Ooh, he's vicious~!" Azul and Ruggie whispered as if it were a secret.

Uh~!, Eeh~!

Yuu pointed from left to right with his arms and shook his head in a dance that was imitated by those closest to him.

Yuu looked at Azul and Ruggie with a slight evil smile, which they imitated. The song didn't corrupt them, they couldn't help but get carried away with the fun. Yuu decided to spice up the place by adding a couple of jack-o'-lanterns made of ice.

Crowley watched from his window everything. Despite the fact that his office was surrounded by shields and anti-spell wards, his shoulders moved with rhythm. The director looked at the coliseum before sighing. "I hope Ambrose doesn't find out about this." He thought with a frown.

The two chorister boys and the owner of the "voice of the gods" sang in opera-worthy tones, which surprised even them. The three raised their hands to heaven as they reached the end of the memorable performance that no one will ever know and remember.

Bye, bye~!

With the final pose, the magic returned the outfit to its normal state in a flash. The dome that surrounded the island and while it was there the hypnosis would be maintained... It won't last long though.

Yuu looked at Ruggie and Azul. "Ok, any questions you have…" "You'll answer them later." Azul interrupted him while he adjusted his glasses. The hyena beast boy nodded. "shishishi~ don't worry Yuu, go save the day." Yuu smiled before stroking the hyena's head and ears causing a purr and a deep blush. "See you later~" Yuu assured them before running to the coliseum. There was a moment of silence before Azul cleared his throat. "So…you and Yuu?" Ruggie looked at Azul. "That is not of you incumbence." Azul nodded at what Ruggie said. "And besides, we haven't dormized anything yet." Azul looked at him blankly. Even he had already discussed things with the Leech twins. "Sometimes love makes you stupid." He thought the silver haired one.

Yuu fidgeted as Rook applied the finishing touches on his hair. He could barely focus on what the vice-house warden was saying. His eyes were glued to Epel and Leona. The pair were discussing the plan they would be doing from the air. A gentle coo from Rook had Yuu turrning to look at his face in the mirror. His heart stilled at his appearance. He barely looked like the boy who loved in the ruins of Ramshackle. Yuu felt Ace and Deuce pat his back smiling. "Man, look at you. If I didn't know better I woulda thought you were some idol." Ace teased leaning on Yuu's chair watching Rook vanish to somewhere. Deuce watched Yuu ran his hands up and down his legs. "Yuu... We won't be far." He supplied rubbing his friends back. The sounds of Lilia's singing voice could be heard dully from behind the stage. "Lilia, Cater and Kalim will be on stage with you." "You just need to sing. I'm sure Vil and the other's have already found that guy." Ace supplied moving to help Yuu up on his feet. The red head picked up a mask that had closed lilies on the left side. "They are all probably back in time for his song." Yuu nodded his head not wanting to think of student that seemed to rival even Malleus in height. "Right...right... They, they have it covered. And... You guys will be near by right?" He wnated the pair to come on stage and dance. Just like they did back in the dorm, he barely noticed the two boys leading him to the side curtain. "Yeah, we'll be right here." The lights flickered off once Lilia's song ended. A mic was placed in his hands. The show had to start, a show to draw the attention away from the NRC students who glided through the air picking off invasive fiends. Yuu gripped the mic his eyes locked on Cater who winked at him. It would be ok. It would be ok. It would be ok. It had to be. Yuu opened his mouth starting the frist few lyrics that followed the piano's melody.

I feel like generally they think how smart the lyrics are. Such as Vil, Rook, Riddle.

I think they wonder what types of things happened to inspire or even give Yuu the idea of singing.

They mostly love their songs their good ones to cry too or even just vibe to when alone in your room (Looks at Idia)

Facts about in-game Yuu (Twisted Wonderland):

NOTES:

This is an ongoing list and will be updated with new information. I'm not caught up w/ chap 6 and I'm not very perceptive. This list is so long because of all the people who commented/sent asks, so thank you Last but not least, some of these might be a stretch/be slightly incorrect so bare w/ me plz :] More Yuu facts [ ONE / TWO ] <- not mine

They've been good friends with Heartslabyul ever since Book 1.

They're forgiving/don't hold any bad blood with the people who've overblotted (at least on the outside).

According to the Harveston event, they can play the flute.

They don't like mentioning that they might return to their world (Deuce's Wishing Star vignette).

Many people consider them a "goody-two-shoes" (Leona, Ruggie).

A good listener.

Based on Malleus' interactions with them, Yuu talks to him a lot more off-screen as he states that he values their opinions.

Loves Grim to hell and back.

It's implied that Yuu invites Malleus over frequently enough that he visits unprompted.

They can be snarky and brutally honest when they're pushed into it.

Comes up with stupid plans that nobody believes will work but it somehow does.

They're insecure about not having any magic.

They want to be able to help their friends.

Has a sense of self-preservation.

Does not actively seek out danger (*cough* om mc *cough*).

They've cleaned up Ramshackle since living there, however, it still looks "abandoned & ancient" on the outside.

Crowley doesn't give them more money than "needed".

Silver states that Yuu is good with swords (PE Uniform).

Both Jamil and Silver seem to think that Yuu is somewhat weird/strange.

They don't know much about mushrooms (Floyd's Camp Vargas vignette).

They're very patient.

Used to be afraid of ghosts until they got to Twisted Wonderland.

They adapt to new/difficult situations quickly and calmly.

They don't complain much.

Very much so the silent type.

The audience doesn't really see anyone helping them out with their situation, so I assume they fix most of their problems themselves.

They don't have any memories of the Great Seven before coming to Twisted Wonderland.

Fluctuates between being observant and not noticing really basic stuff.

Doesn't hesitate to say cheesy things.

Keeps calm in harsh situations.

They know how to play a blowing horn (White Rabbit Event).

Good with instruments.

Not a very good singer (NRC Uniform).

It's implied that they have high stamina.

They're interested in horseback riding and wants to play soccer with Sebek (PE Uniform).

They recommend a few books to Sebek, implying that they read in their free time.

They're short in comparison to Floyd (he calls them Shrimpy).

Grim comments that they're shorter than Vil.

Crowley mumbles that Yuu looks effeminate.

They're a bit of a romantic since they seem to often ask about love stories/fairy tales (Epel & Jade chats).

They have a habit of poking, tugging, tickling and just touching people in general. This is proven through the Home Screen character interactions.

Their love language seems to be physical touch.

They get scared easily but is bad at scaring others (Halloween voice lines).

Vil notes that their uniform is baggy.

Malleus says that Yuu has gotten better at dancing (Masquerade Event).

It's implied that Yuu is good/decent at cooking since they have to make meals for both themself and Grim every day.

Yuu is decent at basketball (Ace Halloween).

Deuce remarks about a tiny piece of furniture in Ramshackle and asks if it's for Grim, meaning Yuu makes small furniture for him.

They're a good photographer.

Takes part in photography competitions (Rook Port Fest).

It's implied that Yuu carries their ghost camera everywhere because Crowley constantly makes them record events.

It's said that the game cards are actual photos that Yuu took with the ghost camera. [I don't know if this is true but a lot of people have said so]

Most, if not all the characters tell Yuu to hurry up when choosing a class, which suggests that they're indecisive.

Ace, Deuce and Cater tell Yuu to relax during classes or else they'll run out of energy.

Jack says that he got tips from Yuu while he was working in Monstro Lounge, implying that Yuu might've worked in customer service before (Book 3).

According to Grim, they have a hard time saying no to people, but when they absolutely need to-- they're very serious and a bit intimidating. "You're a real sap sometimes, you know that? Then again, when you bare your teeth it's no joke."

While they won't say no to helping others, they prefer to keep to themselves and avoid drama.

Yuu is sometimes a bit distrustful of Ace and thinks he's tricking them if he offers to do anything nice (2024 Player Birthday Greetings).

It doesn't take much to make them happy. (Deuce & Idia 2024 Player Birthday Greetings).

They became nervous when Riddle invited them to a salon for their birthday. Riddle response saying "I'll be right there with you, and will instruct you in etiquette every step of the way."

They're competitive in class-- at least when it comes to Jack (2024 Player Birthday Greetings).

They took chess lessons to try and beat Leona in a match (2024 Player Birthday Greetings).

For their birthday, Yuu asks Azul to get something that's supposedly hard for an average collector to acquire.

They're surprised when Kalim gifts them a pop-up card for their birthday.

They own a pair of fingerless gloves (gifted by Epel).

They personally invited Vil over for their birthday party and made sure to have healthy food options for him.

Not very close with Idia.

Owns a glass tumbler that reads 'Happy Birthday!' (gifted by Ortho).

Lilia gives them a CD with his screamo performances.

They were gifted so many presents on their birthday that they had trouble carrying the gifts around. (Malleus 2024 Player Birthday Greetings).

after the vdc many companies contacted them and after graduating at nrc they became a really popular artist

basically the boys reaction to their s/o singing at the vdc and then becoming famous, how would they react and how would they support them

Vil probably knew you were a decent singer considering you were in the pop music club

But you’ve never really sang in front of him, so your performance at the VDC definitely takes him by surprise (in a good way)

He’s super happy for you when you start getting offers from recording labels and such

Although he would’ve helped you out with his own contacts in the industry if you’d wanted

He loves that you can relate to each other even more than before

Now you understand what it’s like to be a celebrity as well, both the good and bad, bringing you two closer together

He’s super proud of you and not afraid to show it, hyping you up on all his socials and surprising you with flowers after your concert performances

He’s also very protective of you, knowing how mean and judgemental people can be, and he’s not afraid to stand up for you whenever he can

You two are definitely the celebrity power couple that all the fans love and find super cute

Idia

As much as he didn’t want to go to a social event, Idia was willing to attend just to see you perform

He starts malfunctioning as soon as he hears you sing; he can’t believe he’s with someone so talented and amazing

He’s happy for your success and knows how much you deserve it, even though it can be hard for him considering his antisocial inclinations

He absolutely becomes your biggest fan, no exaggeration

He’s the first to buy all of your merch, wears it proudly and puts up posters of you in his bedroom

Idia is a bit insecure about dating someone so famous and talented and beautiful and kind and every other amazing things that you are

So you’ll need to reassure him sometimes that you still love him and that he’s good enough for you

He’s super shy when you talk about him in interviews, but secretly it makes him so happy for you to acknowledge him as your boyfriend

If you want it, he’ll even offer to help you out with things like editing for music videos or building a website for your brand

Will force himself to go to your concerts, as long as he can sit in the vip box alone with Ortho as the two of them cheer you on

Azul

The first time he hears you sing at the VDC, he’s of two minds about it

First and most obvious, he’s excited for this new opportunity for the both of you

Determined to help you get famous (not just so you can help promo his businesses)

Encourages you strongly when you start getting offers from companies

He’s also just very proud of you for how far you’ve made it just by yourself (you refused his resources, much to his dismay)

He does love how hard you work and truly feels you’re one of the only people who match his drive

At the same time

You’re his partner, and it’s hard for him to watch all these people thirst after you, once you become famous lmao

He loves you and it’s a bit difficult to feel like he has to share you with the rest of the world

Lowkey a bit scared that one day you’ll meet another cool celebrity and decide they’re a better match for you than an octopus

He’ll be okay once you reassure him that you’re not going anywhere

Azul supports you every step of the way, still taking time out of his busy schedule to come see you at your shows or making dinner reservations at his own restaurants

Malleus

Lilia would always speak of you being a great singer but Malleus had never actually heard you sing until the VDC

Immediately fell more in love (if that was even possible)

Your voice and demeanour were so captivating, you were truly lovely in that moment (not that you weren’t always in his mind)

He knows you’ll get offers from companies, he’s so sure of your talent and absolutely wants you to get all the recognition you deserve

He’s happy when your music starts to become more and more famous because people are finally seeing you as wonderfully he does

You deserve to be admired, as long as no one gets too close

No matter how famous you are, you’re still his after all - though few rarely test their luck with you, your boyfriend is Malleus Draconia after all

You’re quick to tell them off, anyway

Being busy with Briar Valley, Malleus doesn’t always have time to come see you in concert

But he does when he can, and he’s sure to make his visit extra special

You definitely become a beloved celebrity of Briar Valley, with all the people loving you as the royal consort, but also because of your talent and music

Yuu and the Magical Power of Songs

Yuu Singer, 🎶💎Ramshackle💎🎶 (We wish you a Merry Christmas - Phineas and Ferb Version)

I couldn't think of a better idea for this Christmas than to use "We wish you a Merry Christmas" that they used in Phineas and Ferb… Well. I will do the same for this New Year... This story takes place after the OverBlots; After the near destruction of NRC, Malleus and Yuu combined their magic into a time spell that returned them all to the entrance ceremony to start things off without disaster.

The holidays are the funniest and happiest time of the year for many.

When Yuu first arrived at Twisted Wonderland he didn't imagine the seriousness with which they prepared for each celebration… what he discovered in spring and fall.

And that's not to mention the events that occurred randomly.

Anyway, at this moment the 8 dorm leaders were in a meeting.

"So we agree to decorate everything?" Yuu asked those present, who nodded at his words.

Since for some reason the entire student population wanted to celebrate the holidays at NRC, they needed to vote on whether they would decorate just their dormitories or the entire school.

Azul already had many ideas for the most fruitful season for Mostro Lounge.

"I have many selected items to order." Kalim said excitedly as he showed his cell phone to Riddle.

"Send me the links, I have my contacts so shipping will be cheaper hehehe~". Idia said with a giggle, who was present forced by Ortho.

Leona looked at the largest of the Shroud inquisitively, but he did not want to know.

"And who will pay for everything?" Vil asked, adjusting his Santa hat.

Yuu smiled and the others could swear that demon horns appeared on his head. "The director of course."

The others looked at Yuu strangely; Crowley was a cheapskate no matter how much he said otherwise, they highly doubted that he would pay for Christmas decorations.

"The director is so kind that he gave me his credit card." Yuu said taking said card out of his pocket. "Besides, when he realizes it, it will be too late."

Everything was silent for a moment before everyone laughed like "villains."

These holidays would be expensive for Dire Crowley…

The light music club was preparing to practice; they would have a lot of work performing at Mostro Lounge and the Christmas and New Year party.

"So what should we play today?" Cater asked looking at her cell phone for ideas.

"How about it, all I want for Christmas is you~." Lilia suggested doing a riff.

"It's already widely seen." Kalim commented, much to Carter's surprise.

Kalim had been using a lot of internet tutorials to be more independent, so he also updated himself on trends on the web… Jamil still couldn't decide if Kalim being addicted to MagiCam was good or bad.

"And a classic?" Ortho suggested with a smile. The young man with the shrouds had become a member of the club shortly before the Malleus OverBlot.

At that moment, Yuu entered. "Sorry guys, the decorations arrived and I wasn't going to risk leaving Grim alone with the glass things." He explained, leaving his coat on the coat rack.

"Don't worry Yuu-kun, we're still thinking about what to play." Cater said to the white haired one.

Yuu thought for a moment; He had managed to listen to Ortho's suggestion and thought it was a very good idea.

The "voice of the gods" was instantly present. Everyone's clothes changed to a unique Santa Claus outfit for each one. For Kalim it was with two shades of red and round gold glasses, for Ortho it was blue with white and a tulle cape with snowflake embroidery, for Carter it was bright green with black and pearls in her hair, for Yuu it was the typical red and white and cool ski goggles.

The song was heard throughout the campus; filled everyone with joy. They organized themselves in the patio to decorate. Many were singing or humming with their hands full of golden tinsel.

At Heartslabyul, Trey watched in barely concealed horror as Riddle pulled out the fruitcake the aforementioned had made. Riddle cut a piece of the cake from him and then looked nervously at the green-haired man. Many were using their brooms to fly around NRC and decorate it. The white already contrasted the black and gray of the building beautifully, but with the gold and green tinsel it looked much more impressive. Ruggie sang mockingly because he knew that of all the fruits, Leona hated the fig the most. In the yard, Silver was sleeping peacefully among a small mound of snow. No one wanted to bother the boy during his nap, but they couldn't help but decorate him; They put a headband on him with reindeer antlers and shiny spheres in his ears.

In Idia and Ortho's room, the oldest was dancing around the room while programming the lights, preparing the gifts he had for his brother, and turning on all of his monitors for the special Christmas events in all of his RPG games.

The oldest of the Shroud danced in the comfort of his chair, for him it was very noob to start singing at Christmas. Although he will deny to death that he sang Christmas songs from his favorite anime in the shower.

The music club put the best of their voices into the final part of the song. Carter, Kalim and Ortho could tell that this was the best version of "we wish you a merry Christmas" they had ever heard. LIVE had ranked #1 in trends and throughout Twisted Wonderland they were dancing no matter what.

Mention figgy pudding ~

"Pudding?". Many people asked themselves when they heard the lyrics. Although they didn't give it importance; It was the best one of the best Christmas songs. And needless to say, they enjoyed the chorus at the end.

"Merry Xmas!". Yuu, Carter, Kalim and Ortho exclaimed into the cell phone before the LIVE ended...

Night Raven College had a good day that day and the decorations could be seen from the town on the island. And they were better than the other academy, to the envy of some in the RSA.

Disclaimer: not a native Thai speaker, still learning 🙏

Ongsa and Sun

At first, Ongsa wrongly assumes that Sun is older so she calls her พี่ /phi/, speaks respectfully and wais her:

ขอโทษค่ะพี่ /khaaw thoht kha, phi/

Then they settle into these pronouns:

☀ Sun: เรา /rao/ -> Ongsa (calls her เธอ /ter/ once when she asks her name)

🌐 Ongsa: เรา /rao/ -> Sun

-> เรา /rao/ is an informal 1st pers. pronoun that pretty much all the students in Ongsa's class seem to use

Later, when they're texting, it takes Ongsa entirely too long to catch onto the fact that Sun thinks Earth is a guy because-

คุยกันมาตั้งนาน เรายังไม่รู้เลยว่านายชื่ออะไร /khui gan maa dtang naan. rao yang mai ruu loei waa naai cheuu a rai/ -> นาย /naai/ is a male 2nd pers. pronoun

While we're talking about their texts, the subs have this weirdly mixed up:

1 - ฝันดีนะ /fan dee na/ = lit. dream well/good dreams, 'Sweet dreams' 2 - ราตรีสวัสดิ์ /raa dtree sa wat/ = formal, 'Good night' 3 - Similarly, Sun's มอนิ่งนะ /morning na/ is a more informal 'Good morning' compared to formal อรุณสวัสดิ์ /a roon sa wat/ or polite สวัสดีตอนเช้า /sa wat dee dtaawn chaao/

When Ongsa isn't gay-panic hiccupping, she's actually really clever and witty! I'll get to her ig posts in a second but there's also this moment:

ยังสวยอยู่เลย /yang suay yuu loei/ สวยจะ หมายถึง ซวยอ่ะ /suay ja- maai theung- suay a/

The difference in pronunciation between these two words is just the tone - สวย /suay/ (rising tone) means pretty vs. ซวย /suay/ (middle tone) means unlucky

caption: เงา-เหงา /ngao-ngao/ = shadow-lonely -> เงา ๆ /ngao ngao/ is an expression that means indistinctly, faintly

The difference in pronunciation is, again, in the tones - เงา /ngao/ (middle tone) means shadow vs. เหงา /ngao/ (rising tone) means lonely

Another visual pun! This one's only funny if you know what peaches are called in Thai: peach = ลูกท้อ /luuk thaaw/ - but the word ท้อ /thaaw/ in there? It means discouraged!

Alpha, Aylin, and Luna

🔝 Alpha is Ongsa's older sister: พี่ /phi/ (used as a 1st pers. pronoun) -> แก /gae/ (informal 2nd pers. pronoun)

👽 Aylin is their cousin, in the same grade as Ongsa, and speaks pretty curtly, almost like someone would on two-way radio: she doesn't use any pronouns apart from this once-

แกกำลังบุกรุกที่ของฉัน /gae gam lang book rook thee khaawng chan/

Omitting pronouns is possible and not uncommon in Thai but doing so constantly, combined with her monotone speech pattern, low voice, and mostly a lack of ending particles, it does stick out! It doesn't really come across in the subs tbh (apart from including the way she refers to people as humans = มนุษย์ /ma noot/):

ไม่ต้องแคร์ใคร /mai dtaawng care khrai/ = Don't need to care about anyone.

🌙 Luna, Alpha, the two bullies, and Mawin all seem to be in the same grade because all of them use the impolite pronouns กู/มึง /guu, meung/ (=I/you) amongst each other - how very fun to finally hear some GMMTV girls talk like this :D

I love Alpha and Luna teaming up to beat up scold these two dipshits:

Alpha: พวกมึงสองคนแกล้งน้องกูออ /phuuak meung saawng khohn glaaeng nong guu aaw/ Mawin, trying to defuse: พวกเธอใจเย็นก่อน /phuuak ter jai yen gaawn/
