No idk I did not understand what happened here at all. I don't know what it was trying to say thematically, and I'm even kinda hazy on what happened on the page literally. It was just so confusing, and it didn't help that I wasn't interested enough to finish it in less than 2 months, with several other books and the holidays in between.

This will definitely bug people who want things to be well-explained, labeled, and defined. The rules of The Wet are slippery, and the characters' motivations are muddy. There's some sardonic anticorporate litotes that I had to cling to like a life ring because I could not parse the main metaphor. Best of luck, fungal horror fans-- this one was too hard for me.
