I had never finished eizouken's anime in 2020 but was already one of my favourites somehow just because of the themes and animation. I never had the time till this weekend and I did it.

It’s for Autism Acceptance Month!! Basically, the company Autism Speaks uses the color blue, but that company actually does a lot more harm to the autistic community than good. They’re a very bad company and not trustworthy to learn more about autism or to help anyone within the community. SO! Autistics now use RED as the color for the month!

El shouldn't have gone to HS, she should have been homeschooled or joined a school for kids with learning disabilities. Now I'm not from the US idk much about the school system let alone idk how it was in the 80s but a girl like El certainly wouldn't be allowed to join normal highschool in my country. I was honestly a bit shocked it was okay for her to be there when she couldn't write or read well like the kids her age. I'm not saying she is stupid it's just unfair to her to be put into the system where she only faces disadvantages due to her late development.

She would have flourished if Joyce would just taken care of her education. Speaking of which why wasn't she aware of El's problems in school. Yes El lied about it to Mike but Joyce was this protective, sometimes slightly overbearing mother to Will and now it seems like she doesn't know what her kids are up to. Granted we only see her interact once before dipping to go to Alaska but still she had to know it wouldn't be easy for El in school.

interesting! i agree that el should have been given more support, but i’m reluctant to shift the blame onto joyce. there was really no way for el to be homeschooled while joyce was working- even if she had miraculously found the time, she would still have lacked the necessary teaching certifications and experience. while el likely would have flourished in a small private school, tuition for that type of learning environment would have been expensive and access scarce, especially in a more suburban/rural location like lenora hills. joyce may have thought that the best thing for el was to be placed in a normal school, and while she was probably wrong, it’s not like she had many other options. hence, i’m not blaming her. she tried her best!

as for el’s tough time in school/overall volume of difficulties: while i can’t speak for other countries, in 80s america, even “regular” learning disabilities (dyslexia, dyscalculia, adhd, etc) often went unrecognized and unaddressed due to social stigma, lack of awareness, and lack of knowledge. there’s, unfortunately, absolutely no way that el’s teachers would have been able to meet her unique needs, especially since they clearly haven’t been told anything about what actually happened to her.

however, i agree that we were severely underserved when it came to byers-hopper family scenes. i also agree with your point that joyce seemed uncharacteristically distant, though as you said, we didn’t really get a proper look at their dynamic before they were split apart. here’s hoping that vol. 2 and s5 have more of that <3

okay let’s be real: live a live probably didn’t age as well as most people think it did (bc i still can’t shake the feeling of ct having similar ideas and vibes executed way better after playing for weeks), but like. complaining about the game having a single optional female protagonist is not it chief

I don't think I have ever drawn Korra before so this was a fun first attempt!

ahh, how she feels towards Salvatore and Ciocana?? i have an idea on how she feels about them, so i'll answer to the best of my abilities!

for both, she feels a kinship towards them. how that kinship manifests is completely different, though

in Salvatore's case, her sense of kinship comes from the fact that they both have a lot of responsibilities to bear -- Salvatore being Ellera's child and naturally having a lot of stuff to do, and Amaranthine doing -- from what i've seen, anyway -- a completely thankless job. this feeling only grows deeper since she's considered Salvatore's "childhood best friend" and saw how it affected them. she has no doubts that Salvatore saw the change in her, too. i guess she kinda feels as though they're two sides of the same coin, if that makes any sense?? Amaranthine's awful observant, despite the fact that her head's in the clouds, so she still seeks out Salvatore from time to time if she senses they're getting a bit stressed.

and Ciocana? she doesn't really understand why many don't like them. her line of thought is basically "well yeah, who else is gonna do it?" when it comes to Ciocana's status as god of misfortune. besides, it's not as if Ciocana exactly chose to be the god of misfortune, so Amaranthine doesn't judge them based on that. not to mention, she relates to being looked down upon, even if it's for different reasons. she also likes their playfulness and doesn't mind being teased or pranked, and even engages in her own banter. i'm gonna have to go into a modern AU for this example, but i hope you'll get the idea!

Amaranthine: incorrect. the best invention ever is the washing machine.

Ciocana: oh? why's that?

Amaranthine, a woman since this is modern AU: well, it's kinda why i'm here.

Ahh, it's so interesting how different MCs feel differently about the ROs!! 🥺 Salvatore and Amaranthine are seen so differently, so it's interesting she thinks that they're two sides of the same coin, which I definitely agree with! I think Salvatore shares the sentiment!

Seriously though, I have been waiting to write this scene from the start 😂 It was one of the first ones I plotted. Only took 18 months to get there! So I decided to make it in to a (literal) cliff hanger to make people shout at me, which they have done! It's been great fun 😂😂
