How about a F!reader she was in relationship with Thrass and by the time he died she is pregnant and she leaves to the empire.

Thrawn finds her in his exile. You could focus more on her relationship with Thrawn if it's easier.(?)

You apply the final touches with your brushes on your blue skin, finishing to perfect your traditional make up for the day. You check your coiffure one last time and rise on your feet to enter the salon and take your place.

You’re alone at the tea house today, your two apprentices have their day off but that’s not a problem for you. Your first family was in the tea business for generation and educated you in its ways. You later trained your husband at this art when you entered the Mitth for your wedding.

Now that you are in the human Empire, this traditionnal Chiss tea house that you built for yourself is the last bound you have to your former life. When Mitth’raw’nuruodo came back from his mission, distraught, his first action was to come to you and warn you about Thrass disapearance. Without thinking twice you prepared a bag and with Thrawn complicity you stealed a ship to fly after Thrass while pregnant.

You were not letting your husband disappear when you had a baby on the way!

You searched for him for a months, visiting numerous planets, meeting nuemrous species.

To no avail.

At some point you got lost in the chaos and end up in lesser space, the term was really close and you needed an hospital or a maternity to give birth to your baby safely. You had to give birth alone, without any familiar faces and surrounded by aliens.

A chance there was a near-Chiss species, humans, who helped you in this trial. But traveling with a week old baby without any concrete destination and on unsafe routes was simply impossible and you had to stop. The danger was simply too great.

So you worked different jobs to make ends meet, hiding your skin color or your shiny red eyes, you traveled across this city planet called Coruscant, changing apartments, sometimes running away from creditors and hiding somewhere until things settles down. You saw the end of the Republic and lived through the first days of the Empire, keeping a low profile...

Things could have gotten a lot worse if you didn’t hold on to your principles and bared your teeth to adversity. But you managed to gain some money, bought that building for next to nothing, renovating it yourself into a proper establishement worthy of Chiss standards, and now you have two trainees to train. They are nice girls, diligent and hard working with the will to do great and by the rules but they are still far from the Chiss excellence in the ways of the tea.

You check your questi... datapad to know your shedules of the day. Lately you have more than 25 clients per day. It forces you to rush some aspects of the ceremony but it is still manageable.

Your apprentice who took the reservation left a note.

“Navy Officer who specifically requested the entire day to himself.”

You sigh, annoyed. You are a tea house, not a pleasure house. You don’t stay an entire day here! What was she thinking when she took the reservation? You cannot permit yourself to dedicate a full day to a single client!

A Navy Officer no less.

You sniff with disdain. Another one of those men who thinks because he has money and rank everything is due to him!

But what’s done is done now. You’ll conduct the ceremony as always and push him to the door and took the rest of the day to yourself. You will be able to come back home earlier and spend some time with your son.

You lay down the pad and aligns all your ustensils on the clothe on the floor, seating heels on the little mattress dedicated to this effect. That’s when you hear the door of the salon open and steps entering the room.

At least this Grand Admiral respects the schedule.

You also notes he had the presence of mind to take off his shoes to walk on the tatami. Not all clients knows that. You begrugingly give him another point as you lay down the last utensil and turns towards your client, eyes closed as you bow down to him respectfully.

“Welcome to the Primordial Tea house.”

“I thank you Mitth’(Y/n)’(F/n).”

You froze, opening your eyes in a shock.

Before you, impeccably seated on his heels, raising from his bow and in a perfectly neat green uniform, stands another chiss.

And not any Chiss!

“Mitth’raw’ nuruodo...” You say with a white voice, barely audible.

His expression is serene and aloof, but his gleaming red eyes shine with tenderness and a controlled joy. You are utterly speechless. Why is he here? What is he doing in this parts of the Galaxy? Why...

“I rejoice seeing you thriving in this Empire, my sister.” He finally says before your resonnating silence, “You must have a lot of questions.”

You look at him up and down, not believing your sight.

But that’s him! Older by a decade but it is unmistikably him! Your husband’s little brother!

Your own little brother now.

“I... How?” You utter.

“I was sent in a mission by the Ascendancy to find new allies and study this Empire.”

You look at him with round eyes, feeling your hands starting to tremble on your knees.

“I was terrified for you when you stopped sending me news years ago, but I heard rumors about a woman with blue skin and red eyes in this part of Coruscant. I had to verify it for myself.” He continues before your disarray, “I hoped with all my heart it was you, and I was not mistaken.”

“Mitth... raw...”

“Call me Thrawn, my sister. As you used to do back in the day.”

“Thrawn...” You breath, heart clenching painfully, “Did you get any news? Anything?”

His shoulders lower and he shakes his head slightly.

“No. Nothing.”

Your heart starts to bleed and a sob rises in your throat.

“He will never come back...” You manage to say with a shaky voice, a tear rolling on your cheek.

“I am affraid.” He concedes gravely. “Hope gets thiner by each passing day.”

And you burst out in tears. You hide your face behind your hands, sobbing as you are forced to face your most horrifying fear. Thrawn remains silent, repectful of your pain. He lets you cry with compassion in his eyes.

“I am truly sorry (Y/n).” He murmures.

“Oh my warrior... What will I say to Thabim?” Your entire body shakes between sobs.

Thrawn tilts his head.

“Thabim?”

You sniff unelegantly, going against the reserve and modesty of your role as a tea master, but frankly you don’t care at that moment.

“Thrass’ son... Our child...” You gasp, trying to breath.

Thrawn’s eyes round up slightly, clearly taken by surprise.

“You had a child?”

You nod as tears fall down from your cheeks to your folded legs, soiling your precious traditional attire for tea ceremony.

“We didn’t want to announce it to the family just yet... It was supposed to be a surprise...” You pull on your collar to open your attire and take out a medallion that you open, revealing an old picture of you and Thrass together.

Smiling.

Carefree.

Simply happy to be together.

You still remember vividly the day you announced your pregnancy to your dear Ch’acah. Thrass was checking files on his questis when you agitated the test under his gaze. Surprised, he threw his head backward, hitting the back of his skull against the bedrame. You chuckled as he massaged his painfull head, turning his gaze to you, wondering what you wanted to tell him. You showed him the test again with a big smile and saw the shimmer of his red gaze intensify by ten fold. He jumped out of the bed, seized your hips and made you spin in the air, laughing loudly, before embracing you, pulling you into a deep kiss, happy and hopefull.

Now he is lost...

You press the medallion against your heart, forgetting Thrawn’s presence because of the pain. Thrass hide the same pendant under his sydyc tunic. You fold your body in two in a soothing gesture. You feel Thrawn’s hand seize your shoulder gently, squeezing it softly.

“I am sorry (Y/n).” He repeats

“It is so painful...” You cry. “It feels like I’m hoing to die!”

“Yes.” He agrees, “It is the most terrible pain. But you are not alone anymore, I am with you now. I will help you and Thabim.”

You raise you gaze to him, full of pain and pleadings.

And you throw yourself in his arms, all etiquette be damned! He frozes under your touch, taken by surprise once more. You squeeze him tight, burying your face in the crook of his neck, soiling his uniform with your tears. You feel him responding to your hug after an hesitation, caressing your back comfortingly and circling your shoulders.

“I am here now, sister. And I will remain.”

You hiss in your pain, breathing with difficulty with your lungs so tight.

“Thank you brother... Thank you...”

Marie Laveau’s House of Voodoo - Lot & CC !!UPDATED!!

⚠ Important Disclaimer : I am not a vodou practitionner nor am I ethnically connected to or from a lineage of vodou practitionner (as far as I’m aware). I’m just a french lady witch interested in all religions, myth and folklore around the world. However, I tried to educate myself as much as possible as I was building the lot, to make sure I was being respectful to Vodou -and other related religions/practices like Hoodoo - culture and history, and wasn’t perpetuating any offensive clichés - while keeping the lot visually fun. My goal was only to celebrate New Orleans culture and Vodou, and maybe get you interested in learning more about it, as it is a very complex and incredibly interesting topic ! Also, I understand there are different spellings for “vodou”, not necessarily meaning the same thing everytime. For the lot, I chose “voodoo” as it is the actual name of the shop that inspired me, but I used “vodou” for everything else. MARIE LAVEAU’S HOUSE OF VOODOO - LOT

To build this little shop, I got inspired by the real Marie Laveau’s in Bourbon Street, New Orleans. It is not a replica, but I tried to reproduce the atmosphere while creating a functionnal, aesthetical space in the meantime. The lot is fully furnished and quite heavily cluttered, however it works fine on my laptop which is a bit of potato when it comes to gaming (sorry computer, I love you though). Enjoy ! PS : As I was reworking the shop I remade some of the rooms, so it won’t exactly look like in the picture. But I didn’t change too much though, don’t worry. I’m too lazy to take new pictures though...... Please check the new updated CC list to get the lot working properly ! All credit go to the artists credited there, nothing is included in the lot to respect creator’s T.O.U, so you need to get all the CC before you install the lot. Do you listen to music (or tv shows/films/anything else) when drawing?

🎤 Between music and contingency podcasts. 🥁 All the time! I actually find it hard to draw WITHOUT something in the background. I usually listen to music, but if I’m in a particularly good headspace and have a ton of work to do, I’ll listen to episodes of Critical Role ~ 🎷 I listen to music almost all the time and spotify is my best friend. I also watch a lot of documentaries while I draw. 🎸 I never do anything without music playing, silence gets too lonely ._. 🎻 Yes, although I tend to avoid lyrical songs because otherwise I end up distracting myself singing along and… not … drawing,,,

What’s your favorite music artist/band? If you could ask your favorite band/music artist one question, what would it be?

🎤 Nightwish. Are you ever gonna make a recorded concert with a full orchestra? 🥁 Right now my favorite artist is Aurora, and if I got the chance I would ask her for a hug - she strikes me as he type of person who would give good hugs xD 🎷 I don’t have a single favourite but I’ve been listening to a lot of Japanese rock music and city pop recently. Right now I’d like to know what art styles the members of BUCK-TICK find the most inspiring. 🎸 My favorite band is BBHF (ex Galileo Galilei) 🎻 Dave Grohl, by far. He is the musical embodiment of the philosophy that I adhere to.

Do you play an instrument? If not would you like to play one? Which one?

🎤 Guitar and keyboard. 🥁 I’ve been playing guitar for twelve years and violin for ten! If I got the chance I’d love to learn cello or harp. 🎷 I used to play the violin before I lost my instrument. I’m also interested in the bass guitar. 🎸 I never took actual classes but a friends taught me the basics of ukulele and piano. Outside of that I just sing a lot~ 🎻 I've played a fair amount of bass guitar, and some normal guitar too. I've started picking up the keyboard again for composition too, and I'd like to do some drums too in the future, actually.

What do you expect from this zine?

🎤 Keep improving my art skills and find some interesting fellow artists to follow. 🥁 I’m challenging myself, in a sense! I always tell myself I’m gonna draw something based on one of my favorite songs but I never do, so this zine was a great opportunity to just sit down and say “yes! I’m drawing this!” ~ 🎷 I’m excited for creating original work and illustrating music as well as looking at how other people have interpreted songs that I know. 🎸 I think it's great to step ouf of my confort zone when it comes to illustrations: drawing for a song can be a lot more abstract than drawing for a specific character. Being more loose with the interpretation is pleasantly freeing ^^ 🎻 I'm mostly in it for more incentive to draw. I don't get commissioned very often, and I tend to neglect my art for other hobbies instead, so participating in zines forces me to keep the pen moving, you know what I mean? Besides, I get to see some nice art and the DotZine community has been great, so, it's also a nice ride.

when you were first getting into art, what and how did you draw? (like did you just doodle ur masterpieces on pieces of paper and posted-notes or did you have a proper sketchbook) how did you find motivation? bc ive been trying to draw but I always get unmotivated and stop while still wanting to get better just by doing nothing.

REALLY LONG, LOTS OF ADVICES FOR ARTISTS :

TL;DR ; skip to the HOW TO ACTUALLY FUCKING DRAW part bc i have a megaton of shit to say lol + The MOTIVATION part

mmh… I’ll get into details with this one tbh bc it’s a long ass process ahah :

I live by the sea ; when i was youung i used to draw TONS of boat, but like, dollhouse boats, you could see the insides and stuff ; i loved to add tiny details and stuff, and imbricate everything together !

around 8 or 9 yo, i went to the public library with school and discovered the wonderful world of mangas ! I basically… Copy pasted an entire Mermaid Melody tome x)

For about 2 years i alternated between reading mangas and trying to copy them ! Then i just kept drawing in the margins of my schoolwork for about… 5 years ! I have a Fuck Ton of sketchbooks of that time, it was… The start. Lol. Never say it’s bad because it’s never bad, just not there yet !!

Around my 13 yo, i went every saturday, for two years, under a bookstore ; there was a cave, and drawing classes ; that teacher was mean and harsh and stuff, but like… Not really. He would take away my eraser for the class, force me to use pencil, to draw something else (bulky boys instead of magical girls).

I’ve learned a lot, more in terms of How To LEARN to draw than to draw itself, but i still progressed a LOT !!

Then i kept drawing by myself for a year and i really worked hard on it ; about hours a day, trying watercolors and stuff ; i have a real problem with colors in traditionnal art, but i’m much better with lines (i should scan some RAD stuff i made in the weekend, yall ive never done anything this good i stg i dont know why i always forget im so much better on paper)

This gets us to my sweet 16 ; i have to year of advance, bc i got ‘’’promoted’’’ idk how to say it ; anyways, i entered my (current) animation school for the first year at 16; vERY IMPRESSIVE AND TERRIFYING.

And i learned. A fuckmegaton. Of shit there.

Now i’m going for my third year there and i can make photorealistic marmora blades and cyberkpunk decors if i want to and that’s rad, but here is

HOW TO ACTUALLY FUCKING DRAW :

I have one HYPER important advice, and i’m keeping it to heart since i’m like, 11 : Have. Sketchbooks. Please !!! It’s very important. Here’s why :

You keep everything with you in one place. You have 1 sketchbook, it’s basically easy to take every where (a A5, or A4 are pretty easy to carry, i have like, 12 of those, and around 8 of A3)

You keep track of what you’ve done. It’s super important, bc first you can cry of laughter at your old stuff bc its cute but not so good, and second, you can just be like ‘holy mama’ and see how much you’ve improved

It’s very important to be organized. I WORK in art, and trust me, if there’s something that i’ve learned this year through tears and missing files and bugs : Be. Impeccable. Now if it’s for fun, go a little loose, and just have a folder for art on your computer, and a sketchbook, no need to stress, but the better you try to keep a record of where is what, the better you’ll see whats wrong

Notebooks are friends !! You can draw, write, glue stuff, make notes, lists, everything !!! I have my life in those. It’s more important to me than any of my phones.

Be proud of it. Like, not everything, duh ! But try to tell yourself than it’s like a RPG ; even if it’s only 2 xp here and there, one day you’ll beat level 40, and that’s super important : art is. Fuckin. Long.

I cant stress it enough. It’s soooo long !!! SO LONG !! it’s years. It’s like karate and fishing and ANYTHING. To be good at it, it takes time, but it WILL COME if you keep trying. There’s no secret passage.

You’re gonna me it, believe in me who believes in you.

Use. References.

Coming from a little shit who’s got a really good visual memory, that can sound like bs, but i stg everything is always AT LEAST twice as good if you’ve used a visual support.

I’m not saying COPY EVRYTHING (even though thats a good training) I’m saying, if you really want to do that asian tiger, please have at least two or three pictures of it nearby. Take photos of your hands, and stuff !

Make it harder.

No eraser.

Paint.

I draw all my backgrounds on my sketchbook with INDIAN INK; no returns, no refunds.

Ink, Ink, INK !! Don’t allow mistakes.

And if you make mistakes :

New page, restart

It’s okay

It’s for you

I once started back again a whole EXAM bc it was bad, i got one of my best grades

You’ll improve and be more assured if you know you just have to DO IT. Trust me. It’s VISIBLE; if you can erase, you fidget and hesitate and ‘’kbeujebez hahhaaa idkkidsd’’ ; stop ; do it, and if you don’t like it ? Try again, there’s no time limit

Draw as large as you can

There’s no interesting story here, it just helps. Bigger movement of the hand, more place for details, breathing lines

Thin lineart helps

Thinner. Make it even thinner

Break the rules, but not the ones that structure your art

Big lineart ? Why not

Unfinished lines, vaporeous colors ? Pretty

Cubism is actually based on extensive and intense practice of classical art, it’s not wibbly wooblly ; the anatomy is more correct than you think

Structure and composition are important, but so is movement and life ; choose your fighter ; mine is fluidity and fun, i’m like, a rogue/archer in drawing. Some people are dwarf fighter. That’s amazing and great.

Don’t be afraid to do nothing

Pages and pages of my sketchbooks are actually just lance facing right and smiling, you know…

Sometimes it just doesnt work : two ways :

Take a break, Kiki’s delivery service style

Keep trying, break your art until it obeys and comes back

Take breaks. Breath.

Don’t compare. I do it, it doesn’t help at all. You’ll make it ; and if you compare, keep in mind that everyone’s different

I’m not gonna lie, it’s NOT easy, it’s even hard

But I really, really think it’s worth it

MOTIVATION :

My main bitch

I’m always pumped for art because i can LITTERALLY NOT do anything else ; i love reading and writing and stuff but at the end of the day i just want !!! to draw !!!! aaaaaa-

Fall in love with it, and with the possibilities ; i have stories to tell, tell me yours ! Do your best, one day it WILL work

Actual advices :

I have an inspiration blog where i just reblogs stuff i like to draw them later

Find a picture, copy it. Do it again. Change the characters (i have 2 ocs and Lance and Keith as default characters) in the pic.

Like an artstyle ? Break it to its very core, analyse it, copy it, redo it, trace it and ABSORB it. Don’t copy/past, LEARN from your heroes.

Do what you like. I have 86578 pieces of voltron, this is not a coincidence. I have ENDLESS ideas for this show, wtf.

Try new things. Buy indian ink im begging you. It’s so cool.

Have a game with yourself, or a challenge. STICK TO IT.

Study. When you’re bored, usually it’s because you’re stagnating. Make it harder or do hands until you cry.

Love your backgrounds; make backgrounds, study trees, and tokyo streets, and venice’s bridges. Decor is just as cool as characters, if not more

Mess a little with everything. My roomate more than one found me stained from head to toes trying to DO STUFF

Draw outfits. Draw what you want but can’t afford

MAKE YOUR LIFE A COMIC. Remember those sketchbooks ? Make a comic a week/month/every full moon, whatever, and draw your life (mine’s the roomates au lol)

Prompts blogs are cool too

Make fanart of a fic you liked ; you have the characters and the pose already, you just have to illustrate ; double bonus, you probably will make a writer’s day, if not year !

That little movie that plays when you listen to your favorite song ? DRAW IT

Your favorite scene in your favorite movie ? Redraw each shot. On post it. Plus it looks awesome afterwards to have the infamous TREX scene of Jurassic Parks in post it

Get bored. That’s inevitable. Dance, scream, get back to it. Walk, draw everything you see.

Make a paper google map street view : Take a walk : every 50 meters, draw what is in front of you.

Snapchats your friends. Draw their snapchats when they answer

Draw maps. Invent places. Invent bikes, and hovercrafts, and monsters. Make your everyday inventory. Make your life a video game, and do the concept arts of it.

An actual color-code for clothes depending on what Guard they’re in!! Because it’s easier to find members from your Guard if everyone isn’t dressed all “personnal style before functionnality” around the fucking headquarters

TALKING ABOUT FUNTIONNALITY Simple but efficient clothing?? Boots, shirt, pants, bam. Visible weapons BECAUSE YOU NEED TO BE READY FOR AN ATTACK AT ANY TIME ESPECIALLY IF THE MASKED MAN TENDS TO JUST PRANCE AROUND IN AND ABOUT LIKE THE HEADQUARTERS ARE YOUR STREET CORNER BAKERY So the color codes would be something like huh Light Guard: white and gold? obvAbsynthe Guard: green, white, maybe blue?Shadow: grey (it’s actually a better color to hide in the dark than black) and some black not everyone is an edgy 2007 teen vampire mary sue oc Nevra thank you very muchObsidian: warmer colors, maybe brown (for leather armors) and white/regular metal plate armor, some gold and red details.

Also, let’s have some cultural diversity in inspirations. Yes, Hang Hua had a beautiful brown skin, but aside from that, maybe it’s Chinomiko’s mediocrity in art style, but her face was exactly like any pretty white face would be. To me, this isn’t enough. Give the elves fine middle east clothes and the looks to go with them (Arab prince Ezarel anyone??). Give the warriors samurai armors, plate armors, old leather armors. (JUST GIVE THEM ARMORS FOR FUCK’S SAKE). Give the “simpler” people like Merry traditionnal clothes from Switzerland, Germany, eastern Europe?? It’s pretty obvious that the Faes didn’t leave Earth without grabbing what was GOOD about it while leaving because that’s what people with brains actually do

And the personnalities oh my goodness

Let’s start with Miiko: Let’s make her what she is already a -failed- attempt to be. A leader who’s struggling with keeping the power because not everyone is willing to listen to her (which raises issues like “oh she’s too young” “she doesn’t have enough experience” “she’s just a girl” among the Eel Guard bc conflict is GOOD). Let’s have internal conflict among the Eel Guard, which adds up to the other threats and make her a person with an iron will, but an ease to break. And no, I’m not speaking about her hysterical bitch personnality, this is annoying.

Leiftan: NO MORE CREEPY MOM ISSUES PLEASE??I mean given he has as much personnality as a white blank page, I don’t really know what to add. Leiftan is a bit like my personnal Petyr Baelish: I sense there’s something wrong with him being all friendly-friendly with our Gardienne, and that makes me extremely wary of him.

Ezarel: Listen up, I hate Ezarel. I hate his “humourous” insults and I hate his supposedly “honesty”. Ezarel reminds me of the 12 y-o kids who bullied others in middle school. I had a personnal headcanons that Ezarel was, in fact, high 24/7, which was where his way to speak came from. My Ezarel, in short, is a stoner genius who’s so annoyed by everyone being less smart that he seeks comfort in datura and other shit to just not care that people are dumb, therefore being a high weirdo who speaks in cryptic shit that nobody has time to decypher.

Nevra: NO MORE CREEPY GUY ISSUES PLEASE????Nevra is constantly trying to “seduce” us , and that’s the problem, he’s the definition of trying too hard. People who seduced me the best weren’t trying at all! Is he an actual vampire? Does he feed off blood? How would that affect someone’s personnality? We may never know, but maybe an actual vampire Nevra, wild and feral, having to feed off others and being constantly isolated because most people see him as a threat, would be interesting, MAYBE I’D JUST LIKE IT BECAUSE OUR GARDIENNE WOULD FIND OUT THAT HE’S NOT A MONSTER AND IT WOULDN’T BE IN A CREEPY STALKER WAY

Valkyon: Oh, my poor poor love. Let it be said, I adore Valkyon. (maybe cause I always fall for the ones able to crush my skull hahaha)But his writing is bland. He’s awkward in the worst way possible, he’s as awkward as I am during Christmas family dinner; Most of the time, it just seems he has no idea what to say. A good Valkyon would be, once again, someone who feels out of place as a leader (just like ALL OTHER LEADERS DO BC NATURAL BORN LEADERS AREN’T INTERESTING IN WRITING THEY’RE JUST A BUNCH OF FUCKUPS TRYING TO MAINTAIN THEIR WORLD) but earned that right to command. He’s half human and doesn’t know how to deal with that? His familiar is weak af and the Obsidian Guard probably mocks him for this, asking why he doesn’t have a giant bear or lion or shit BUT my baby’s tough and he just fights his way to the leading place and anytime anybody says something, he takes them to the fucking training pit because it’s probably the only way he knows how to show strenght. Valkyon isn’t much of a thinker and it’s not a bad thing: you need people of action in leading places sometimes too. Valkyon wouldn’t hesitate to endanger himself for other people’s lives (especially the Gardienne) and his friendship with Ykhar comes from the fact that she taught him stuff from books about knights and knight code and HE TRIES TO FOLLOW IT BECAUSE HE’S THE ONLY THING GOOD AND PURE IN THIS WORLD Also give him an armor please

joe12south: George, thank you SO much for these amazing brushes! I was very disappointed in the ink brushes included with Procreate, and was dreading the hours that I would have to spend to create suitable inking brushes, when I discovered your set. Not only did you save me untold hours, but the quality is almost certainly better than I would have achieved on my own. The combination of the Apple Pencil + Procreate + your brushes yields an amazingly natural drawing experience. I've used every drawing tablet ever made since the Koala Pad (1984) and this is the first time I don't feel like I'm losing something by not using pencil/pen and paper. ... I've been using Georg's brushes for my morning warm-up sketches all week. Tons of fun. I've also fell in LOVE with the Dupa pencil brush. Previously, I really liked the 6B included with Procreate, but I find the Dupa brush superior in every way. My guess is most people buy this pack for the ink brushes, and may have overlooked this gem. For the first time, I feel like I could throw away my black and white Prismacolor pencils and never look back! ... Savage Interactive needs to seriously consider working a deal with Georg to include these brushes. I love Procreate, but the base included ink brushes are not "inky" at all. ... Lest you think Georg's brushes are only for cartooning, here's a portrait commission I did this morning using only the upcoming "BRISTLY" brush.

Wizard of Zog: Thanks so much again for making such awesome brushes. I hope the folks at Procreate send you all kinds of free stuff because your brushes are what truly makes that app sing for me.

I've used nearly every art app out there, and between Georg's brushes for Procreate and Frenden's brushes for Manga Ex, I can work on my comics on my iPad Pro and my Surface Pro seamlessly. They're just brilliant tools - my favourites are the Penciler, the DUPA pencil, the Eisner, the Watterson, and the Underzo (both the texture brush and the lettering brush). I've used them on everything I've drawn since I got them. Great work and amazing value for money. Here's my most recent piece.

Bos: Just tried the ELDER, and immediately bought the Megapack. Wonderful. I like how you inclined the shape of the brushes (a thing I had planned but not had the time to try) and played with pressure AND velocity together. I've redrawn a panel of mine to try, and love the Watterson, the Peyo and the Uderzo especially (but haven't had the time to ding into them all, yet). Very flowing, very natural, with and without the textures.

FranklinKendrick: I just purchased the mega pack as well and am blown away at how natural the brushes are. Haven't tried the pencil yet (I should have time later) but, now you really make me want to play around with it! I stayed up way too late doodling with some of the inks. These are so much better than the ones included by default in Procreate - and well worth the money. I originally got into Procreate because I wanted to do some detailed ink work and just never had the tools to do it digitally. Now, with my iPad Pro, I feel like I have the tablet I always dreamed of having ever since I learned that digital drawing was a possibility. Thank-you Georg vW! I am so excited to try drawing cartoons again with these brushes.

Where are you from? Paris, France

How would you describe your race/ethnicity? I would say i'm mixed white and asian, or eurasian.

Do you identify with one particular aspect of your ethnicity more than another? Have you ever felt pressure to choose between parts of your identity? Being born in France, with a French father, a french nationality and a french mother tongue made me consider my asian heritage first way less important. But many people tried to reduce my chinese heritage (even my father didnt realise how important it was for me) so i guess theses comments "well you're not really chinese tho" plus my own doubt made me consider it then way more fragile and someting to "defend" against my french identity, which i don't want to become too important and diminuate my chinese identity, as if i was a bath and i wanted to have as much hot water than cold water, but one water is running faster than one and i have struggle to keep a balance. This is a feeling i had a really long time, now i understand how not-relevant is it, i am not a bath and culture is infinite, i now accept that i am in fact more french than chinese, but because my chinese identity is "smaller" doesn't mean she's less important.

Did your parents encounter any difficulties from being in an interracial relationship? The concept of races is, i suppose, less strong in France than in US, and i don't even think that my parents or their friends considered them as "interracial couple" but mostly two people with very different cultures. So the issue was (using "was" because my parents are divorced now) mostly understanding the difference in culture and education. For example, my father couldn't really understand about the importance of religion for my mother (buddhism and traditionnal chinese religion) because as many French peoples, he was raised very anticlerical. But mostly they were both very open to each other so it was not the biggest struggle in their relationship.

How has your mixed background impacted your sense of identity and belonging? When i was very young, my ethnicity was in nothing relevant but the older i get, the more important it became. I really feel the need to put words on what i am, as about my gender or my sexual orientation, and if i am more than my gender, orientation, ethnicity, these things are defining me, at least in a small part, and not being sure of it really made me doubt of myself. I joined a french facebook group of asian engaged people, hoping to find some answers but it was very political about races when my struggles are more about countries and cultures. I often felt a bit left alone with all my questions about having a mixed background, i could have a real talk about this only with my mother.

Have you been asked questions like "What are you?" or "Where are you from?" by strangers? If so, how do you typically respond? All the children at school always came to me asking "are you chinese ?" (when i was 5) or more politely "and so, where do you come from ?" (when i was 13), and then i responded that i had chinese origins, or that my mother was chinese, but that i was french. When i became a teenager, i was so pissed of about everyone focusing on my ethnicity so i just responded "I'm French" or I'm 'Bretonne' " (my father is from Brittany wich is a French region with a very strong cultural identity). Then my high school was in the chinese district of Paris, there were a lot of french-asian people so i introduced myself as french and chinese, or "my mother is chinese and my father is french"

Have you experienced people making comments about you based on your appearance? People were sometimes surprised when i referenced to my chinese origins but compared to the comments i received about my style (went through a punk phase with blue hair and heavy make-up, now i have a buzzcut cut and piercings), i don't feel that my ethnicity have been an important subject for comments based on my look.

Have you ever been mistaken for another ethnicity? Many people wanted to classified my as only asian, or mostly white, or not a real chinese, but now that i now myself better and be proud of all my origins, i always insist i am french AND chinese and really both.

Have you ever felt the need to change your behavior due to how you believe others will perceive you? In what way? I don't really think so. Maybe i at some moments i tried to insist about how much i was chinese because i am don't want people to "forget it" (i know how absurd it seems now i am writing this), always this thing about being scared that my chinese heritage disapear.

What positive benefits have you experienced by being mixed? I surprisingly don't really know. The struggle has always been about to know who i was, that i didn't ask myself about the benefits of being me (i am not sure if this make sense). I think sharing different cultures give me a kind of 'hindsight' on each. I understand how things that seems so important in France might be not in China, or the opposite (we could talk about France or China's differences about relationships with love and passion and sexuality, family, religion, indivuduality, politics, belonging, arts, etc), so that make me understant that many things we thougt are necessary for all humans to live happily are actually inherent in being from one culture. In all modesty, i would say it made me more open to difference, more benevolent, and wiser.

Have you changed the way you identify yourself over the years? When i was a child, i looked i myself in the mirror and couldn't understand wy children at school call me chinese: for me, i was only a bit chinese because my mother was but i thought my face was the same as every french children. Then i accepted i had obvious chinese origins, but it didn't seem very important to me. It was just my face, and the family dinner but i always lived in France so i was French, mostly. Since 1 or 2 years, i really embrace my chinese culture, understood better how my mother ethnicity and culture impacted the education she gave me. Im buddhist, i learn chinese and feel closer to the chinese culture. Now i try to understand the Britain culture of my father, wich, compared to my chinese heritage, always seemed minor because Britanny is part of France, because people laught at me saying that i'm britain too. But i realized my father was really attached to his region and i will try to understand in which ways i am attached to it too. I am still processing all this, i still have a lot of question but i feel more confident thant in the past so i guess all of this can only get clearer.

Do you have any other stories you would like to share from your own experiences? I will use this space to apologize about my english. This is only my second language and it was a complicate subject to write about, i hope than despite of many mistakes i'm sure, it is still understandable.

4. Traditionnal or Digital art? (even if you don’t draw, which one do you prefer?) Mostly digital, I do occasional traditional art but I often find myself missing the erase function and my hands aren’t that stable. (SAI’s pen stabilizer is a godsend)

5. Have you ever been to a anime/gaming con? Yes. Quite a few. In fact I went to Yorkshire Cosplay Con on Saturday. It wasn’t a great experience, but I went.

6. Cats or Dogs? Dogs.

7. Your thoughts on the Crash Bandicoot remake? Had it pre-ordered since Jaunary, I think it’s looking amazing so far and really a love letter to the series in general.

8. Are you hyped for the upcoming E3? Getting hyped for E3 is a bad idea in general. You’ll always get let down.

9. What time is it as you’re typing right now? 9:45 AM

10. Cinema or Netflix? Mostly Netflix, I only see Marvel/DC films in cinemas, everything else I wait until DVD/home releases.

( ´ ▽ ` )ﾉ when i’ve started to draw 4 or well almost 5 years ago. everything was confused in mah mind. The most difficult was to begin. so i started with drawing in a manga style…i drew a lot AND a lot.i was copying entire pages of Tales of symphonia. (my favorite manga and video game).that’s where the passion for fan art started. a good beginning full of passion!

Since that i’ve been moar receptive to some kind of manga. chibi round style was my favorite. magical doremi took a big place in mah kokoro.

The next drawing you’ll see was the beginning of my new art style. and i deeply knew it in mah bones. i was not expecting to draw this.i think it was only luck.

that was …a strange feel. like i was enjoyin’ it so much that i could draw it every.single.day.

That was not exceptionnal. but i felt like nobody could draw like that. except me.(there is the over confidence part of a art newbie. follow this feel like it was your last chance.u need to not give up.u did the most difficult part so far! follow your intuition ! this little rainbow in your mind ! )

i kept drawing. again. and again. for months and freakin’ months.

i was certainly inspired of tim burton for the chibis and the headshots, if my memory doesn’t say shit,the artist is reapersun.

I was at a point i knew i had to take risks. It’s when, i accepted requests from ppl on deviantart . I couldn’t work alone. so i accepted everything.

i was also on a french forum, and ppl were giving meh a lot of reviews. that was helpful and that’s when i understood i needed a community for progressin’. compliments,opinions,reviews. YOU NEED THAT. accept them and shut your mouth. they’re right. put your pride somewhere else. and accept to see ppl better than you at something.〔´∇｀〕

At some points, i was also giving reviews. that was huge. like 3 or 4 open office pages for a small drawing.it took me hours but it’s important to kno’ how to give a review to somewahn bc that makes u think about their art and yours as well. training ur eyes to spot the mistakes.

i was drawing a lot of fan arts of their characters. They were only potato/egg-characters. that helped me to find a digital color style when i bought my first tablet.

btw,i waited 1 year and half before buying mah smol wacom. I prefered to keep practicing on paper. if you can’t draw properly on paper. digital won’t help u. it’s not a magic trick that makes ppl talented. ≡(*′▽`)っ

i have way moar respect for traditionnal artists. sooo much respect.u don’t even kno’.

(then…at this point, i was drawing for almost 2 years i thiiink.)

that’s when i started to extrapolate EVERYTHING. Colors, anatomy,expressions .( Everythin’ i ‘m drawing during this kind of practice period is wrong. extremely wrong and full of mistakes. But i have to do this bc i put so much energy into mah artworks that i can’t think properly until i’m mentally exhausted. (it’s completely personal,but i need to be broken af for understanding how pitiful i am and finaaally letting myself learning something new. ) )

so,when i’m completely exhausted(it’s a very heartful moment,like a huge art block),i leave my artworks in a corner,i don’t touch it for hours,days,weeks or sometimes months.nobody can touch it .except me and i analyze and re analyze them until i completely hate what i do bc i found all the mistakes.

At this moment, i’m ready for experimenting again, learn from my mistakes and move on.

Sometimes we need to take risks and get out of our comfort zone !!! just.fuckin. DO IT. it’s toxic to stay in our comfort zone for too long . 8;A;8

An exemple of extrapolated drawing: Too much colors, too big arms / legs, too shiny,too weird and unlogical.We can’t understand. but whatever. it’s the beginning of something new!

as smol addition to what i’ve said before, this is at this moment i can figure out my real problems .it’s only when i’m emotionallynot attached to mah art anymoar that i can finally produce something new .

However, i don’t personally give a fuck to tutorials,i’m too lazy for that. i have to discover everythin’ by mahself. (but this. it’s misplaced pride. so don’t do that .plz.learn from the others ,you won’t lose time like meh.)

Not everythin’ is on my table,i have waaaay more sketchbooks and it’s only traditional but there is certainly 2 years of practice in front of you. Don’t need to tell u but everythin’ is full ofc .i also finished a new wahn this week. plz remind meh to buy another one.

I also have THE HUGE CHANCE to have comic student artists as friends and they sometimes lend to me comic books(O3O ~LAST MAN. MAH LIL FAVORITE URG. ). I wish i had more place,but i read a lot of books ! i love goin’ to the library and read everythin’ i can ‘til my head hurts haha. (and LOOK ,”astemio”the book on the right ! i participated to this fanzine. oh boi.i’m so proud even if mah art in there is so shitty )

and actually, for ppl who still read. i’m about to take a break from tumblr and the youtube community bc i can’t experiment as i would like . i want to draw my ocs, create stuff and i’m stuck with youtubers fan art. i need a creative break.

Never give up,find ur own way of thinking and practicin’. goddamit plz, trust ur intuition.trust your art taste and don’t draw what ppl would like to see.

If i was doing that, i would draw some semi realistic post apo’ stuff. And even if i rly appreciate that drawn by mah friends. it’s clearly not my thing.
