#dog books #this chapter was very sad reading #when you become aware of punishment #and its use and its prevalence #it's hard not to despair #again this is why positive reinforcement feels like absolution #maybe now my eyes are open I can make up for what I did #what I did because it's what everyone does #because it's more acceptable to punish than to do anything else #I've been having so many thoughts about punishment and society and justice #this book was very validating #another great validating moment in my jumbled thoughts #was listening to the You're Wrong About episode on justice #with Amanda Knox #it helped to ease the despair a little

I want to finish the drawing I'm working on, it's only half an hour past my bedtime. Yet I suffer the consequences of trying to be responsible and healthy. Pity me.

#this drawing is almost done #i just have one more thing to color #its not my finest work #i realized drawing it that markers are hard for me to use #so its not great #i have a tremor #so hands go shakey all the time #i use a stabilizer on my tablet #and woth pencil i press my hand against the paper and move slowly #markers dont do slow #they bleed and look weird when you go slow #and they can smear when your hand is against the paper #and unlike pencil smears i cant erase it #if youre wondering how I do with painting given i cant do any of this #I do abstract and blobby paintings #often i just use paints to blend them #then draw around that #i should cut out shapes of colored paper like that #and make something that way #now i wanna start that art project #and its been 15 more minutes ive spent writing this #and bedtime was 45 minutes ago #my body will hurt if i dont go to sleep now

Thinking about Weird Barbie and how she's the very obviously queer outsider of the Barbie world, she straddles the lines between Barbie and the Real World. She's the most aware of the performative nature of it all. She supports Barbie while also gently mocking her panic at losing the hyperfeminine perfection. Her weird house is also home to the discontinued reject weird Barbies, the outcasts (including very gay earring Ken) who never fell into either the original matriarchy or the Kentriarchy brainwashing.

The other more classically heteronormative and beautiful Barbies both pity and fear her, and at first the narrative pities her as well. She's the vessel of girls going weird and crazy and feral on their dolls and that's amazing. Weird Barbie is aware of who she is and how the world sees her and she loves it. She's Weird Barbie and She Owns It.
