revisited the old "they descended from ancients + shadow was made by them" concept and put more thought into the markings this time, that and i took cues from their concept arts as a treat for myself. no chaos forms this time bc if this has to sit on my hard drive any longer im going to start running up the walls hee hoo

Metal Sonic being voiceless and that being played for the horror, but less in the way of "he doesn't physically have a voice box" and more in the sense that he's voiceless metaphorically.

Not only does he not possess the voice box, but he doesn't have any tools to communicate. He's never offered pen and paper. Never given the opportunity to write digital reports except with only the briefest of words. Never taught even a scrap of sign language, as crude as such a communication would be due to his lack of facial features.

If you handed him a speech generating device, would he even know what to do with it?

The fact Shadow and Eggman are somehow related is hilarious to me. Whether its through Maria by choice (making them cousins), through Gerald by choice, by creation, or by guardianship (making him Eggman's uncle). Like you spend all year fighting this annoying blue hedgehog and his friends only to show up at holiday dinner and have a black hedgehog judge you from the other side of the mashed potatoes. You're doing your normal terrorizing when all a sudden you find out your nemesis has managed to wrangle your uncle into publicly kicking your ass. Every year you send a birthday card to a artificial lifeform. You wake up in the hospital to see the Shadow the Hedgehog sitting in the plastic seats drinking horrible hospital coffee because technically he's your next-of-kin and was thus rudely interrupted from his nap by a call from the hospital asking him for your medical history
